So the past few days have been a big drain between stress, headache and depression/anxiety which all feels like it’s feeding into each other which is exhausting. So I haven’t got round to finishing snowflake or done much of anything.

However [personal profile] turps posted about this meme so I’m gonna do so it’s a drive by thing of good recent things cause who knows if I’ll have focus again to talk about these things individually.

You could say technically the first post for this was the recent song Saturday but I didn’t think to include it oop.

First is something I mentioned in a recent post, the new Magic Arena set came out. It’s a game I love and I feel it works best doing it digitally (so you don’t have to worry about finding people in real life and cause it does all the things automatically/prompts you for things you’d forget). I’d say the only downside has been it skipped the recent Doctor Who stuff but I hope they come cause they look awesome.

Anyway the new set is called Murders At Karlov Manor and it’s a murder mystery type deal. They’re been doing a special Claudio set based on ti which is cool. I’m liking the new mechanics and stuff, though as with all new stuff it’s a bit tricky to get used to. But look! The set mastery thing has a lil mile friend! They’re so cute! And I love how some of the cards are mystery tropes too (there’s even a card called Red Herring).

I probably shoulda posted this in the recent post, but ahh! Sleep Token ticket confirmation! It’s still wild that I’m seeing them (their last album, Take Me Back To Eden, is so awesome) though I admit nerves are setting in since it’s my first arena gig in years and I know it’ll be crazy and expensive and peoplely ugh. But it’ll hopefully be worth it.

There is an advantage to my eyes aching and that’s that it means I listen to audio stuff more. First off over past few days (well just over a week) I’ve listened to this. Eighth Of March is a boxset that was done for International Women’s Day a few years back. The four audios are naturally focussed on female characters, though the only connection is that they’re set on Eighth Of March but in various times and places.

Since there’s nothing connecting them, they’re all very different but I found I enjoyed them all and it’s tricky to pick which one was my favourite. The first story, Emancipation, has River and Leela together which somehow works really well. I’ve not listened to any of the River Song audios (despite having some from Humble Bundle and a previous freebie) but that makes me curious. The second, The Big Blue Book, has Benny and Ace. Beeny’s an audio only character and I’d not heard her before but, again, this has made me curious. They really bounced off each other really well.

Third is Inside Every Warrior, which was with The Paternoster Gang of Jenny, Strax and Vastra. Apparently it was the first one done with the three of them which was a surprise but they work so well together as always. Though again it makes me sad they’ve not been on screen in so long. Lastly was Narcissus which was a UNIT story, with Kate and the Osgoods which I think worked really well too. It was the first one I’ve heard that’s featured the double Osgood too so it makes me curious about the audio UNIT’s timeline. (I’ve tried to keep thoughts general so I don’t reveal plot spoilers for the eps in case anyone wants to listen)

I also finished The Tenth Doctor Volume 3 at last, I think it took me so long to listen to the last one, The Creeping Death, cause it was the least interesting from the description but actually I really enjoyed it and one of the last scenes was crazy. I love how easily the Doctor and Donna are with each other, they really are so great together. And also it’s wild that the setting was a thing that happened. Like what do you mean there was a smog cloud so sever in London it killed people?

Speaking of finishing things, I finished Super Mario Wonder at last. I got it for my birthday (cause it came out the same day)and it was a lot of fun! Though cause of various things it’s took me awhile. When I came back to it the other week I realised I only had two main worlds to do and Bowser’s castle so I’ve took this week to do them all. I didn’t expect to do Bowser’s castle yesterday but I ended up doing that thing of ‘one more level’ about three times and then finished it. So all I have left is a few levels I missed and the bonus world.

Over all though? I really enjoyed it! It’s definitely a lot of fun. And if you’ve enjoyed 2D Mario before I think you’ll like this. I loved that this was in a completely new and different place as well, outside the mushroom kingdom and the poplin natives are so cute.

The game also has a new gimmick where each level has a wonder seed, which changes the way the level is played. I was a bit dubious about it at first, but actually they’re really fun! And you never know what you’re gonna get with them. One world can have a wonder seed which makes all the enemies sing (which is so cut!) another can change the level to a top down view, another can turn you into an enemy or a spiked ball. They’re all pretty inventive and they are really fun. I think the only thing I’ve not liked so much is the badge challenge stages cause some of them can feel needlessly hard.

I was gonna do a few more little things but I think that’s enough for now and my head is getting more achy again so I’m gonna end it there and maybe do those last things another day.

So today was the James gig which ahh!

First off last night Seapeekay played a horror game which was good though having someone called ‘the gore surgeon’ was certainly a choice.

Also there was the Xbox developer direct and one for ESO which were all really exciting though the Indiana Jones game looks so great.

I started the day finishing Ghost Walk which was last months Big Finish monthly audio thing. It wasn’t quite as good as I was hoping it to be, which is a shame cause the premise was a good one. It was also funny hear the spymaster in a different role cause I half expected a twist with him (it was recorded before he was cast as him so)

I had meant to listen to the new Magnus Protocol but didn’t have the focus (so saving that for this weekend ahh!). But then I also got distracted by finding pics I hadn’t seen from Hasan’s bloody photoshoot which gives me thoughts.

When I came down my mum said she felt wobbly so I ended up going with her to walk Naryu to make sure she didn’t fall (especially cause of the ice). When we got back we had lunch and watched the new Father Brown which amusingly had Syvestor McCoy play a retired doctor. (And the Square One as it is magazine came yay! And snowflake got posted but looked good)

Then I headed to the station. I almost had a panic when I saw a train there but apparently it was an out of service one. Then the ticket machine was shuttered up again and the display said up the next train was delayed 20 minutes… only two minutes later it was on time so who knows?

Once I got to Birmingham I got SFX from Smiths, then two graphic novels from forbidden planet (thankfully the sale wasn’t as extensive as I expected). Then I went to game and ahh! They had the Shadow Lego set so I had to get it, especially with the reduced price.

Clarks didn’t have the Pokémon shoes which I’d hoped to see, but Lego had some of the new sets which looked nice, I also looked around for sharpies and gloves but found neither (gloves I am especially puzzled by, what?). There’s Kenji Halloween cats though with pumpkins and skulls which are cute! And there’s a valentines axolotl in build a bear aww.

After having noms I went to the venue which is new to me and I like where it is. It has hanging lights over the streets and I wish I got a pic cause it was nice and kinda magical. However it was also very icy, there was a large patch of ice where I stool (one person did fall) and there was a worryingly massive icicle (as big as someone’s arm at least which was crazy).

The venue was nice and I hope to go back again now I know where it is, though it was disorganised. Having a merch queue is a good idea! Having it go into the crowd? Not so much. I didn’t see much of the first support (though what I saw I liked!) as I was getting merch. I got two tees and a tea towel (a wild merch item, but I think the design is better in that the tee version) and I got a James card which is so pretty!

The second act was very different as it was just one woman up there alone, she was so sweet and had a nice voice (I told her so later) though damn it’s ballsy to preform to a crowd alone. But she was different which is nice.

Then James came on and ahh! Him and the boys put on such a good show, I loved the lights at the side of the stage and the backdrop thing (which I’m sure is a solid thing). And just ahh! He danced he conducted the band, he was cute, he wore a trans flag that got thrown up, at one point he was swaying his hips like crazy. And he played my fav songs too! I got a lil teary at Car Lights which is a surprise and Grapes was so fun (i think that’s where he shakes his hips I know it was towards the end). But ahh their set was so awesome and I know I’ll see them again whenever I can.

I stayed around merch cause Jago said that’s where he’d be and he came out! He was so sweet and with his shirt unbuttoned too. I was shaking like crazy which made the pic come out terrible (as well as my face in general my hair was all wrong bah). But ah I had the most Jago like encounter with him. He told his twitch chat to say ‘boosh’ when they met him and when I said it he looked confused then was all smiled ‘oh yeah I forgot that! You’re the first to say it!’ Which was ahh! And he was meant to give people goodies (lil stickers) but he ‘left them somewhere’ which is just so…. But ahh he was so sweet. Jono and Lou were there too and they were nice (the pic with them seems better too) and they all signed my album (cause I couldn’t find my ticket) and I’m glad someone had pens.

But ahhh! I met Jago! That means he’s the first CC I’ve actually met which is pretty crazy. I hope they get announced for slam dunk so I can get a better pic.

I headed to the station which thankfully didn’t take too long, though I wasted a trip upstairs to Tesco. I’d hoped to get bottled water cause theres was nice but it was shut, so I had to settle for a smoothie from m and s which was nice but felt like a lot and went pretty quick.

And ugh there was a replacement bus which wasn’t ideal. And I lost track of the stops (it didn’t stop on one that the train does) but I asked the drive and he stopped pretty much right outside here.

But ahh that gig’s rejuvenated me gig wise. The lovejoy one was so bad it really put me off and while I’m dreading the blackout one (being at the same venue) I’m so looking forward to Slam Dunk in a few months.

Now I’m gonna bundle up, have noms and maybe watch something. I posted pics on insta and maybe some more later.

A few weeks late but here’s December’s monthly round up. As I with a lot of months there’s so many gaps, mostly due to stress/depression making focus bad. But! I did finish the Dark Pictures Anthology which I do absolutely recommend, especially Devil In Me. I’m super excited for the next one whenever it’s coming.

And I also finished another Heritage set of The Paternoster Gang (and finished the last one this month) which were pretty good for the most part. It makes me so sad that they’ve not had a series, or appeared on Who in general, but maybe that will change soon?

The other Who audios were on BBC sounds. The ninth doctor one was very timey wimey, so bare that in mind though. The tenth Doctor ones were ones I got for Christmas and the Tenth Doctor and Donna are so great together

But yeah a lot of gaps, I do hope that this year there’ll be less gaps.

***

Last few days have been semi productive. I finished a fic and hoped that would spark doing more, but alas it hasn’t. Mostly that’s due to it being really cold and also because of yesterday. (I had hoped to do one of the shorter wips cause I suspect tomorrow I’ll wanna do a James thing)

But yeah it has bygone really cold, it just feels freezing inside the house and it’s made my fingers so cold. The main issue is that, because Midna and Naryu curl up on us, we can’t shift to turn the heating or heater on (as they are dead weights and refuse to move alone). When outside it’s been so cold and I shrill can’t find my gloves so I might have to find some. Apparently it’s meant to snow soon which? Ugh

Yesterday we ended up going to Sainsburys to see if they had cat litter. I wasn’t keen on going since it meant walking in the cold and I thought it’d be a wasted trip. But they did have some though it was exhausting getting back. As mentioned in the last one I also got a Lego bond car, which I made up last night and looks pretty cool though doesn’t have any features other than changing number plates (of which there’s eight).

Yesterday afternoon mum went with my cousin to see my uncle cause he’s had some infection due to his treatment but… eh I find it hard to care. Nor do I care about the gossip mum got about my cousins either. They didn’t care about us or my grandparents when we needed to so why should I now? Eh.

This week I have been watching Seapeekay’s subathon stream, which I’ve dipped in and out of but it’s been mostly fun, especially since he’s been playing Cult Of The Lamb (meaning he’s the third streamer to do so along with Foolish and Eret) and it’s impressive how far he’s got in it on the new save. (When I left last night he’d unlocked sin) he’s gonna do a horror game tonight but I dunno what it is yet.

Tonight’s the xbox showcase thing which I’m curious about watching because there’s Indiana Jones and ESO info, though it’ll just remind me how far behind I am on ESO. I still haven’t finished up on High Isle/Firesong stuff and haven’t started Necrom despite having it since release. Damnit. Another thing for the list.

Also what is it with stuff today? Cause the Magnus Archives follow up has just gone live though I dunno when I’ll get to listen.

Tomorrow is the gig in Birmingham, which on the one hand I’m looking forward to on the other. Ugh there’s already issues. The minor one is I’d hoped to make it a day and see a film, but all the ones I’d have wanted to see either have ended (Night Swim/Aquaman) or had their times too late (The Boy And The Heron). Not only the but the train back is a bus replacement partway which is always an annoying. I’m not looking forward to that cause buses tend to be so much colder than trains.

But on the other hand, the game in Birmingham has the Shadow set in stock so I should be able to get it and James posted merch pics so I have some idea what to get (though he does say he has a extra ‘surprise’ thing which ??). I’m not gonna head to the venue though until about an hour before doors open because fuck waiting in the freezing cold like an idiot. (Though I hope the time on the venues site is right cause it means I should be able to see Jago at merch)

Now though I’m gonna watch the last The Upper Hand ep, maybe fic and watch the Xbox thing.

I hope that everyone had a nice Christmas/holidays/past few days.

Christmas for me was pretty restful, in the morning we opened presents and there were no real surprises. I got Animal Crossing monopoly, a Who audio boxset and some Lego Star Wars. I ended up listening to the first audio when we came back and it was pretty spooky, which I loved. Though at the same time it also got me in the feels because it had Wilf in it (and in a big role too!).

(A slight diversion but on Christmas Eve I also watched the new ghost story for Christmas which was called Lot 409 and was spooky as well, involving a mummy and a hot guy, who I definitely got 🏳️‍🌈vibes from. But anyway!)

The rest of Christmas was mostly spent watching bbc 1, so I watched two very christmasy films: The Addams Family 2 and Toy Story 4. They’re certainly… unusual choices for Christmas but they were entertaining enough and Toy Story 4 felt better on my second watch of it. Addams Family 2 was new to me and I thought it was pretty fun, even though some of the reveals were so obvious.

I started building one of the Lego sets I got, the spider tank from The Mandalorian and I did the first two bags then (making the body), the third yesterday (making the legs) and the last bag today (making the claws, head and parts of the top). It looks pretty cool and I love there’s finally a new darksaber piece but alas, mum caught the bag yesterday and one piece has gone missing, so one leg isn’t attached. I’ve sent off for a replacement though so it should be ok.

I also watched Jago’s Christmas stream and I had a mini jumpscare when he said my name as he saw op my tweet reply to him. But it was sweet.

I then started another audio of the Paternoster Gang which was such a good finale to the third boxset, though I split it between then and yesterday cause I went tired.

Yesterday I watched The Muppet Christmas Carol (forever a classic! Though it was a later watch this year) then the newer Lion King since it was on tv. It was ok, but it felt a bit… unnecessary? I think it improved once Timon and Pumbaa showed up, though it was still… odd. Last night I watched Death In Paradise too which was pretty good as always. I love Neville’s mum and hope she comes back.

Today my head was a bit fuzzy, but once it eased up a bit I watched Last Christmas on iplayer which was… ok but it did give me feels. (I mostly watched for Michelle Yeoh). Then I put on Emperor’s New Grove cause it’s always fun.

I’ve also done a little Baldur’s Gate 3 these past days and I finished the dank crypt though damn combat is still pretty tricky. I guess it’ll be easier once we’ve levelled up and have more health cause we keep dying.

Lastly, thoughts on the Doctor Who Christmas special (put last so people can avoid it). But before getting to them properly was sad to hear that Richard Franklin, who played Mike Yates in third doctor’s eps, has sadly passed away. That was so sad to hear.

It’s the Friday before christmas and I dunno if anyone else feels like this, but it doesn’t feel like christmas at all. Like, it feels like there should be at least another or something before it not that it’s in a few days.

I know for me it might be due to the anxiety and uni stress. But I dunno, is it a general feeling?

The past few days my head ahas been a bit achy which has made my eyes feel funny in the nights which has been so irritating. I’ve wanted to work on stuff and game but my head’s not had the best focus which has been annoying. Bleh.

On the plus side it’s emant I listened to some Who audios. I listened to the Isos Network on bbc sounds which was the first second Doctor audio I’ve heard. I was so surprised by how good the person voicing the second Doctor was, and was surprised when I saw the cast list that it was Frazer Hines (who was also voicing Jamie) which was such a surprise. It was also a little strange as him and Wendy Padbury (the voice of Zoe) also did narration which I’ve not heard in other ones. I’m not sure what I feel about that, cause it does set scenes but took a bit of getting used to.

I also listened to one of the Paternoster Gang audios last night and I felt so hard for Madame Vastra. Her commentary on the human race and how it deals with those that are different, was sadly spot on and feels even more true now. Sadly. I might put on the next one later.

I did manage to game some yesterday. Baldur’s Gate downloaded but a patch came out yesterday so I couldn’t play right away. So in the afternoon I ended up finally going back in Jedi Survivor. I didn’t do much but I did get off Coruscant (the last thing I did was landing on Koboh) so I’m excited to get back.

I did manage to do some on Baldur’s Gate last night and I spent half an hour on character creation making my character, a Drow Bard called Callum (my in game names are often a sign of whatever fixation I have so make of of that what you will). He looks so cool and I’m excited to do more. He even has vicious mockery which I remember Maxx using when he did dnd! I did a bit of the game on the ship, and I ended just after waking Shadowheart.

(I just got an Astarion tee from qwertee, despite not meeting him yet oop)

Today I had a delivery, missing parts from the advent calendar and the dungeons and dragons magazine thing I got from the Black Friday offer. So now I have doubles of the first two issues and the dice. Oop.

I also did some iconning but then the laptop needed yet another update (thats four now!) which ugh! Is anyone good at getting screencaps though? I need to get some for icons but I’m hopeless.

Tomorrow I’m gonna be going out insanely early to pick up a food order and do a food shop which I know is gonna be exhausting and stressful. Ugh. I hope I’ll be able to rest when I get back and work on stuff but ughh. I fully expect I’ll just flop, eat my veggie sushi and watch the dickens stuff on sky arts.

I hope everyone has a nice christmas/yule/new year (and any other celebrations too) I hope everyone has a nice time and gets to rest.

I’m ending this post with Eret pics, because I can and because she looks hot.

So despite feeling incredibly rough these past few days, there have been some good things so here’s some of them.

First there was a Pokémon presents thing last Tuesday and, I can’t remember too much of specifics about it now alas. There was some new stuff on the Scarlet and violet dlc and, while both the new areas look pretty interesting, I’m not fully sold on getting it yet (mainly price wise). There’s new versions of the legendary dogs, although these look more like dinosaurs, though enter hasn’t been revealed so there’s all kinds of memery about what his will look like. There has been another short trailer yesterday which revealed all the starters are back too which makes the whole thing even more tempting.

Plus there was a code put out so everyone with Scarlet and Violet can get Mew! Mew is one of my favs they’re so cute! And every one is different apparently, with people getting all kinds of Tera types (mine was bug).

Also that day an event on Fortnite started for Jujutsu Kaisen, which is an anime that I’d not heard of but the synopsis sounds interesting. Has anyone seen it? I know there’s a thing for crunchyroll in game pass rewards so I might use it to see what it’s like.

On Wednesday I finished the first of Paternoster Gang audio box sets. I think that last one was the best of the set (despite leaving certain things unanswered) though all of the audios were strong, mostly thanks to Jenny, Strax and Vastra’s actors and their chemistry together. It’s such a shame we’ve not seen them on Who in awhile (and the audios makes me think how cheated we were not to get a series with them despite how people were clamouring for it at the time).

Also Who related, they announced on Friday there’s gonna be a fully animated version of The Underwater Menace coming in November. It looks pretty cool from the trailer and is sure to be better than the dvd release (as it was just telesnaps for half of it). I see the release of it as a good sign, because it’s bound to mean that they’re still gonna keep animating missing eps, which some people had speculated they weren’t gonna be doing any more.

This week I managed to start the Saw rewatch, watching Saw and Saw II with my friend which was nice! I’m glad we managed to find the time and sync up to do it (and my focus stayed good for them). We’re hoping to watch all the films before the new one so I hope so! (A few semi spoilers things on the first two under the cut)

We watched another of the Sherlock films on sky arts Saturday and I have to admit, my focus wasn’t fully there (I blame the utter lack of sleep). However there was something in it that struck me and that was when Sherlock and Moriarty (who was, of course, working for the nazis) were talking about how the latter was going to dispatch the former and gas chamber was mentioned and it just… sent a chill.

We also watched a Poirot and I had a vague idea who did it based on the Agatha Christie documentary we watched awhile back. It turned out I was right in my recollection, so woo memory!

There was a Lovejoy gig shown on Amazon music that night and, thankfully, it was early enough and I had the focus to watch. It surprised me how long it was (about 45 minutes!) because it was a festival set. Wilbur looked pretty and slutty with his shirt open, then took his shoes off (which one of the cameras focussed on his socked feet a few times) and Mark did the drumstick twirling thing that I just love.

Sunday I was feeling well enough for Dungeons And Dodongos which I was so worried I’d miss. My character, Ahno, a zora), had one definite mission to do today: get something to make Forte, our parties other Zora, smile after some nonsense back home last time, so Ahno was able to get him a bunch of frog choir merch (because he didn’t know what he’d like best so just decided to get one of everything) and it was worth it because he smiled and gave him a big hug which 💜. And then the session ended with combat, which has been our first one in awhile so I was able to do some cool lightning thing (it didn’t fully hit but still did damage) and there’s still gonna be more to go next time, oop.

Plans for this week are very much dependant on how my health holds up but these are some things I wanna do.
*Get back on Little Hope
*Start Stray
*Saw III
*Fortnite event stuff
*Either DND or the new Babylon 5 animation

I could add more but I think those things are enough to be reasonably doable.

Time for another random update post.

After the last post I ended up listening to the 10th Doctor Who audios I had, which were from the first 10th Doctor boxset. As such the three of them all featured Donna and damn, hearing them together was so great. Their chemistry is still there and they’re so fun together, they really made the three audios. I think the first one was the best of the three, with the third a close second and the middle one was still good but not as good as I thought it’d be from the description. Still it was great hearing them again! Next of the Humblebundle I’m gonna try is the New Earth one but I dunno when I’ll get around to it.

Last week mum bought an Agatha Christie quick reads from the library that had came in so I ended up reading it (so she can give it to her colleague Tuesday). It was four short stories so I read them this week. Of the four three of them I recognised as episodes of the show so I knew roughly how they’d play out. It was interesting how the series expanded them to fit the run time but they worked well as little mysteries. It was funny that I got the big boxset at Christmas and yet…. This is the first Christie thing I’ve read. Oop.

A few days ago I was woken by mum crying out from downstairs. The last time this happened I found her on the floor from a fall so i left my glasses and came down as fast as I could. This time she hadn’t fallen, but while moving some cat little she somehow hurt her leg. We can’t figure out exactly how she’s done it. She didn’t fall and it’s not as if she hit herself with the litter. Regardless of the cause it’s meant she’s been unable to to do much, so Naryu hasn’t been walked further than the square outside (she keeps pulling back whenever I try to take her further). It does seem to be doing a bit better now as she can walk a bit better but still. I told her when it happened she should call the doctor only for her to say not to, in part because of the walk (she was in pain at that point and walking up the hill was a hard prospect) and she doesn’t know where the number is which is…

I’ve been doing a bit more on Ghost Trick the last few nights and I’m gonna try to finish it tonight. The puzzles are so clever and I’m so curious to see how it all plays out.

Twitter has decided to rebrand as X which just might be the stupidest rebrand in history. Seriously you’ve gone from twitter to… that. I’ve had to stop automatic app updates because I don’t want to lose the cute twitter icon and see it replaced by the horrible x. Honestly Elon is such an idiot for this, but then again it’s been pretty clear what an idiotic, moronic fool he is since he took over. Who wants to bet they’ll backtrack soon?

Of course the problem with twitter decaying over the past months is, like with LJ and tumblr before, people have scattered to the wind and I’ve… no kept up. I know there’s blue sky and threads and miss key but I’m just…. I dunno which one is good and who has gone where and I just feel so… lost. Fuck Elon and his stupidity.

I’ve been watching the proms on tv and yesterday was the Bollywood one. I wasn’t sure what to expect because I’ve never watched one. But it was fun! The main singer, Palak, had such a pretty dress and she had such a great voice. Maybe I should see if there’s one to watch at some point but I have no idea where to start and I’ve been so bad at having focus for subtitled tuff in general lately.

Unfortunately the internet has started to be bitchy again. It was only a few times the last few days and I wrote it off at first because there’s some construction going on outside. However today it went terrible again, cutting out near constantly earlier and I just… when it calmed I contacted talktalk and they’re gonna send someone to check the line (again!) and just… ugh. I hope it’s sorted soon and doesn’t get worse tomorrow. (I’d change but if it is an issue on the line than changing providers wouldn’t help)

Yesterday I managed to finish a ficlet so maybe the block is gone (I’m not sure about that though). Maybe I’ll get back to a wip, although I kinda wanna do a tentacle thing.

Also one of my fav fic series got a surprise update last night (woo!) and the prompt I left in the bandom thing has been claimed so hopefully there’ll be something there soon.

I was trying to sort out the Apple Arcade earlier and it was giving me such issues with Apple Pay. I’m not sure why, maybe it was the net issues, but I managed to sort it. So Hello Kitty Island Adventure is ready to go!

I’m gonna finish watching the new Brokenwood ep now, then maybe start Island Adventure, watch a stream and ghost trick. And cross my fingers that net will behave.
shadowhive: (Foolish March Hare)
Another post that’s, again, a bit more random stream of conscious type beat.

I’m glad I watched the Pokémon stream on Thursday. Ie pelted it to be just finishing the Kalos Pokémon league arc, which was true for the opening eps but then it shifted in such a surprising way. Pretty much as soon as the last battle finished Team Flare went into action and caused chaos. It was honestly so exciting and even after 4 eps it wasn’t resolved so I’m eager to see what’s going to happen with that. And everyone was doing their own thing, even Team Rocket got involved against them which was so cool (and Steven for some reason and Hesse is right he is dreamy).

I’ve managed to get back on Tears Of The Kingdom buy it’s not been doing anything major. It’s mostly been just exploring thoughI did stumble on some clothing and did some shrines. I warped to Kakariko to explore there when I next go on it. (I saw someone bought up on twitter that they should have added the well from OOT or the shadow temple, which would’ve been cool and spooky)

Also gaming I’ve been doing Ghost Trick but not much. I’ve only been doing one chapter at a time which isn’t too fast, but they’re so clever and can be tricky already (I just did the 4th last night). I did wonder if I have missed things by not following on some of the traces, but we’ll see.

(Though I’ve not been great at going on star rail or genshin impact because it’s felt I’ve not had the time)

I finished the UNIT audio boxset today (I might listen to the behind the scenes stuff later) and it really did turn out to be better than I expected. When I first saw it was an Auton boxset I didn’t think it’d be too great but they actually made it work really well and had such clever ideas (like I mentioned in the last post). I might listen to one of the other box sets this week. There isn’t another UNIT one alas, but there is Tales Of New Earth and a 10th Doctor one.

The weekend has been kinda tiring. I dunno if it’s because of the sudden change in weather or it’s residual stuff from being sick (or just mental stuff) but I’ve been so drained and so inside my own head which isn’t ideal.

My friend linked me to a bandom prompt memethe other day and it’s nice that there’s one going and it’s waycest friendly. None of the prompts sparked anything in me (probably thankfully) but after some pondering I did leave one.

But it also got into my head a bit because… I do miss bandom stuff, but I also don’t miss it. And it unintentionally bought back a bunch of stuff and made me feel bleh.

I think it hasn’t helped that I’ve been in my head a lot about fic in general, which I think has contributed to how bad I’ve been at ficcing. I’ll get what I think is a good idea, start working on it, then stall either because I get stuck or I talk myself out of it or… whatever. I dunno, maybe I should just… stop trying. A few days ago I had similar thoughts and it ended in me locking the season of kink post which I’ve thought about just… not even trying.

Bleh. Maybe I’ll change my mind soon but I’m not sure. We’ll see.

I had intended to watch a film last night. I’d seen that there was the latest Paranormal Activity on film4 and I was gonna catch it. I grabbed Doritos, put the digi box on the channel (so I could rewind if I missed the start) but I just went so tired and knew I wouldn’t have the focus. Which sucks but maybe it’ll be on the 4 player to watch another time. But I dunno, we’ll see if I’m in the mindset for it.

I woke this morning to a dm on discord and I won an Xbox code for something called Jelly Brawl so I might download and check it out later. Though we’ll see what my headspace/energy is like. There’s no real plans for today, other than A Year On Planet Earth tonight and maybe the proms (and maybe a Poirot in a bit)

I’m sure I had something else on my mind but it’s gone now, ah well.

This coming week there’s not many concrete plans but there are a few things. Shoto has a long birthday stream tomorrow, there’s the two Pokémon ones (though I suspect only one will be finishing the Kalos arc), mum’s friend is coming Thursday and there’s the next dungeons and dodongos. And there’s new Futurama and Hello Kitty Island Adventure, yay!

Other things I wanna try and do:
*More Zelda
*More Ghost Trick
*Watch something on Shudder
*Read the graphic novel and comics that have been sitting there for ages
*Make decisions on Xbox and who audio sale things
*Maybe do other June something
shadowhive: (Bulbasaur Bulba)
The past few days have ended up being low energy, because even though my stomach is (mostly) settled it has left me drained and my people battery is severely depleted. As such my energy has been pretty… mid to low.

One good thing about having the laptop open Sunday for Dodongos was that I could look through some of the Who audio folder. I’d got a bunch from various humble bundles but I’ve not really listened to them, hence I’d decided to add Who audios to the monthly round up this year. By going through humble bundle I also found I’d got a third folder of stuff that I’d not got on the laptop so now I have even more to go through oop. (Thankfully it seems none are in the offer from the recent Who magazine, so I’m still pondering on those before month’s end)

While going through them I spotted that one of the things was a UNIT boxset so decided I’d try and listen to it this week. I listened to first story Tuesday and the second one today. They’re each part of an overarching story of the boxset so they’re not standalones in the slightest (the first is mostly set up) but it is pretty good so far. The concept introduced in the first one is an absolute genius idea that I could totally see in an ep of the show (involving Nestenes, autons and 3D printers). I might listen to the next ones in the coming mornings too (id have listened to more Tuesday but of course the laptop decided it needed a system update)

Tuesday afternoon was spent watching Shoto’s stream while building up the dragonite I got from the prime day sale. The dragonite is so adorable and friend shaped, although I think I’ve messed up the mechanism because the wings (which are supposed to flap when you turn a knob) don’t move smoothly.

Also about Pokémon I watched the twitch episode stream only it wasn’t a continuation of the eps from last week. Instead it was a bunch of random episodes loosely connected by the concept of diving. As such they had nothing to do with each other and we’re all over the place (though it amused me that first five, despite all being different regions, all featured Brock). They were still entertaining and most I’d not seen before which was good (and I especially liked seeing mimikyu) but it was still odd. Tonight’s should be continuing from last week which is good.

And again about Pokémon, the Pokémon sleep app is out which I downloaded and used that same night. Cute Pokémon sleeping is always nice! I hope we get Bulbasaur.

I missed out on the final game pass reward on fall guys (the bonus one that needed an absurd amount of levels) but the new one is out now. I had enough show bucks from the last one so it’s essentially free, and I love the capybara outfit you get from unlocking it.

There’s new Lego Star Wars reveals from Comic con (which feels like it’ll be a bit quieter because of the, extremely valid, strikes going on) and the new Ahsoka ones all look cool. I might get the two pack of fighters for Christmas, though it depends what the interiors of the others look like (I suspect the Ahsoka shuttle isn’t gonna have one which is disappointing).

The Doctor Who magazine came yesterday which looks nice because it has David Tennant and Catherine Tate on the front. I’ve not read their interview yet, but I might later. Nor is there a date for the season 20 boxset alas. I did read the anniversary poll results for the tenth and eleventh doctor episodes and some of them are… puzzling. Like, how is Human Nature/Family of Blood at 2nd for 10? And how is Army Of Ghosts/Doomsday not top 10? People are strange

I did end up getting one of those things I had my eye on (I’m still debating on the other) though it’s not coming until late August and needs something else, though i can sort that when it’s here.

The Xbox summer sale started last week but there’s nothing too much (Jedi Survivor is still too much). I might pick up a few of the indie games on my wish list that are down to a couple of quid. Other than that there’s Age Of Empires 2 dlc (though it’s hard to find exact info on which is the best one), Dredge (which looks cool but I want the disc version because it has physical bonus stuff) and the Dark Pictures Anthology (which seems to be a good deal for the set even though I mostly want the last one). There’s usually an article on the sites I go on about which are good deals/games to get but there hasn’t been yet. (Has anyone played/watched the anthology and have thoughts?)

(My indecisiveness lately has been incredibly strong)

I was hoping to go on Ghost Trick some more but I’ve been too tired for much of gaming. I have set up the Switch again so I should be able to get back on Zelda soon though, again, it’s about energy.

Now thought I’m gonna eat and then? Who knows.

I had intended to do a June something or some other type of post but alas, no.

In part that’s due to this weekend’s weird weather. It’s been a mix of warm and trying to storm. It did rain a bit both yesterday and today, but seemingly not enough to cool things down and today’s especially was short. But either way it’s been too much to do much of anything.

Another part is that mum’s picked up some sort of bug and I’m not sure if it’s from the library or the trip out last week, but she’s been feeling rough (though is a little better) and now I’ve felt it coming in. Which is… not the best, but at least we don’t have any real plans.

Despite that I did a few things.
*I got to Genshin level 18 so now I’m on the last of the prologue quests woo!
*I listened to a Who audio, The Dalek Trap which was free with from a a magazine code. It was part of a boxset and it was the first one, so it’s clearly laying the groundwork for something from the final audio, which means a lot is left hanging which is a shame
*I watched Shoto’s stream yesterday which was stories from his trip which was sweet
*I watched The Mummy Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor and it’s… ok. I mean it’s good that they tried something different, you can’t fault them for that but it just felt kinda… I dunno.
*There was a qsmp mini event yesterday which was funny because of Foolish and Bad being spy’s and being terrible at it, but it was fun. Though now there’s a mysterious timer
*I finished Inscryption, has anyone else played it because I have some thoughts and questions and….
*I watched some twitchcon stuff, though net was spotty and I got the time wrong and missed the gen loss panel so will have to watch it when the vod is live

And yeah, the net is back to being spotty which is annoying as fuck. At least when it went off this morning it was because of one of the girls turning the router off somehow but it’s disconnected randomly a bunch of times today, ugh.

Randomly today I got hit by a depression wave of sadness and just… bleh. I wish it would go away. It came out of nowhere too and it’s just…. Lowered my mood so much and I don’t get why. Meh.

I’m not sure what I’m gonna do now, I did think of watching a film on tv but both are horrors and I’m not really in the mood for either. Maybe I’ll finally revisit Foolish’s Name Your Price. Or find something else.

Yesterday sure ended up being A Day.

Shortly after making the last post I had an email about my Disney package. After two days of (apparently) intense searching the package didn’t turn up and they said to contact Disney directly. I did just that and they said it was an ‘urgent matter’ and they’d reply within 48 hours. Which was good but also stressful (keep that in mind).

Lovejoy’s ep came in the post which was good but I think I scared the postman by opening the door. I’ve not put it on the laptop yet but the art is nice. Oddly it doesn’t have a booklet which is a shame.

While waiting for Zelda I went on Pokémon and got to the bottom of Area Zero. Something definitely felt off about the professor but I was getting close to Selda’s delivery time so didn’t go further with it (I could’ve gone further)

Zelda was supposed to come between 7:09 and 11:09, but it didn’t arrive until after 12 alas. The box is nice, Nintendo did a special Zelda design inside the packaging and the extras are nice (though I still wish I had the collectors one).

I started it after walking the pup and food. I guess they don’t have horror movies in hyrule because going into secret forbidden tunnels instantly seemed like a bad idea and, predictably, something was buried down there. But at least we got Link shirtless and a new kinda hot ghost guy.

I spent most of my playtime yesterday on the first island and I’ve done three of the shrines before my eyes got too achy (from the stress, tiredness or having to use these old glasses. Or some mix of the three. Bleh. I love the steward constructs though they’re cute and yay koroks! I’m gonna go back on soon.

Before the third shrine I paused for a bit and watched the big Eurovision party on bbc 3. It was shown awhile back but I’m glad it was on again because it was fun (and poignant with the section with the Ukrainian acts). It’s worth it alone for the Subwoolfer performance so catch it on iplayer if you can!

I was gonna watch the two Eurovision shows after it but did the third shrine on Zelda instead and then my eyes went achy. Instead I put on a Who audio I’d got with one of the magazines, Night Of The Vashta Nerada which was spooky (of course) and also sad (and featured a idiot corporate executive: as well as Pam Ferris who sounded like she was having fun as a pest control person). I had to pause it last night and finish it this morning though.

I hoped today would be a nice day, with Zelda followed by Eurovision but alas there has been more stress.

Remember the Disney package that Evri had lost? Well it turned up today but ugh there’s more annoyance. I only knew it arrived because I saw an email notification pop up saying it had been ‘delivered and signed for’ whoever I hadn’t heard mum go to the door so assumed it had been left at the other house with the same number. But nope! It was left right outside the door where anyone could see it (or it could get damaged from the rain if there had been any). Secondly the tape wasn’t secure and then when I opened it the Loth Cat and Wampa galaxy’s edge creatures weren’t in the boxes they should have been. And the mystery box was missing too despite being in stock when I made the order. Ugh. So I’ve had to reply to Disney’s email ugh that info (apparently Evri have fucked up next door’s order in the same way as mine so I’m not sure if that’s a relief or a worry).

Secondly I had a letter which, ugh gave me more stress. I’m meant to have an appointment next month which is over the phone (which is stressful and ugh) only this letter says it’s in person (which is worse) so now I have to call up Monday to find out which it is and why which is something I don’t particularly want or need. Ugh.

Then when we go to walk Naryu mum decides to stress me out over other things too which isn’t great as my head is a bundle of stress (over package, over glasses, over that appointment, over general depression/anxiety things) which.. ugh

I’m gonna watch a Young Jedi Adventures now (with my Nubs plush from the package, which is so cute!) and then hope on Zelda and maybe have a nap before Eurovision.
shadowhive: (Wilbur Fembur Casting couch)
So yesterday I ended up being up early again (ugh) but it meant I could, again, put more music on the new pod thing. I’m close to having all the main stuff on there I could need thankfully but it’ll still need a few more mornings,

While the music got copied over I decided to listen to one of the humble bundle Who audios I have. I’ve two bundles on there and I’ve only listened to a few before. YesterdayI settled on Destination Nerva, which was set on the Nerva beacon from Ark In Space and Revenge Of The Cybermen, although this was before all of that. (It was also set right after Talons too.) I was ok, but ugh the Victorian guys were utter assholes even before being taken over by the infection (I’m glad it killed them). But it was nice to hear Leela again and she posed another interesting question about the tardis: why does it travel in time as well as space? The doctor didn’t really have an answer but acknowledged it wasn’t a FAQ he’d gotten.

We ended up backtracking my steps to see if I could find my glasses. I hoped it would help since I at least had an old pair I could see with. Alas no such luck. Either they ended up in some undergrowth, someone picked them up and took them (or handed them in somewhere) or they ended up in the road. The latter seems less likely though as I saw no sign of anything smashed. Ugh

We then we put around the reservoir and saw some baby animals! There were 3 ducklings, seven cygnets (miraculously as they supposedly went down the fast flowing water) and the baby geese were around too! They were so cute and fuzzy and aww. (We’d spotted them Wednesday and they must’ve just hatched because aww)

Today is Zelda day and I’d hoped to get so much done before it. I’d hoped having a date would help but alas… I managed not to do the stuff I hoped (a mix of finishing fic, reading, gaming and watching stuff) which is kinda bleh. In an attempt to actually do one of the things I intended I went back on Pokémon Violet and was able to finish all three of the games different paths.

The team Star path actually gave me feels and made me feel sorry for them, to the point where I hoped they wouldn’t disband and was glad that they didn’t have to. The Elite Four were pretty straightforward though what’s with that test thing at the start from the cute one? Also I did the battle with Arven who I managed to be harder than the elite four and champion though still not too hard now I’d trained a bit. All that’s left is Area Zero which I did start and got to the third waystation before getting too tired (maybe I’ll try and do more while waiting for the delivery of Zelda)

Also last night was Eurovision semi final 2, which we could vote in. Alas it felt weaker than the first 1 (is it just me or is that always the case with the one we vote for?) however there were some good songs that I did enjoy, especially in the second half, though als some didn’t get through. I’m glad that Australia, Austria and Belgium got through and Cyprus because he was hot. And I know there’s someone else I liked that got through but my head feels kinda fuzzy (possibly cause I drank some Oop).

I had thought about squeezing in the time monster before sleeping but didn’t. Instead I watched Taskmaster which was fun as usual and then Quackity’s short stream which announced new people coming to the QSMP also there’s gonna be some French people whichll be joining in an event Tuesday. Hopefully they’re entertaining and I hope my mindset is better to watch streams soon too

I listened to the new Lovejoy ep but only this morning. Standouts (other than Call Me) is Portrait Of A Blank Slate and Scum though I can’t help but be annoyed at Spotify ruining the flow with ads. You’re meant to get ad free music for 30 minutes when you listen to them but they were playing after every single song and they’re not 30 minutes long! Ugh get it together.

Anyway I’m gonna head down now and wait for mail, maybe go on Pokemon and see if I get a promised update from Evri (I’m not hopeful)
shadowhive: (The Child Soup)
Close to the end of the AMA posts now with two questions left it’s from [personal profile] sourgreen (here’s the post if you wanna ask anything)

what is your favourite fruits? (like top 5 maybe)

There’s a saying that came to mind when I saw this today about the difference between knowledge and wisdom. Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.

So in that sense there’s two ways of answering.

The knowledge way has peppers, tomato’s avocado and cucumber as favs, all of which I enjoy having in stuff like salads and sushi (and stuffed peppers too, but not the green ones green ones are bitter and bleh).

The wisdom ones are grapes (unironically), bananas, mangos, peaches and pineapple. Which are all nice. I do like most fruits in general (though I’m not a fan of oranges). I also like lime flavoured things but limes aren’t good things to eat alone like those things are. Also I don’t care pineapple on pizza is great!

I’m absolutely sure I’m forgetting an obvious things, as always with these things (I thought of some things for the food one after posting it for example)

Funnily I went on Microsoft rewards this morning and the poll was what’s your favourite fruit between mango and banana. I went with mango.

***

The past few days I’ve felt kinda eh which has been a mix of low energy (in part, I think from my head being chaotic Sunday) but also it’s been mentally low too (culminating in yesterday when my mindset crashed). I’m not sure if it’s a general depression/anxiety thing (though it feels like anxiety) but my eyes have been achy so it might be something else too. I did feel woozy this morning too so I am wondering if it’s some sort of sickness but I’m not sure.

Bleh.

Because of the aforementioned eyes aching I did put on the last the war Doctor audio on bbc sounds The Enigma Dimension. I did relate to Leela feeling (seemingly random) sadness though I don’t thing they used her too well in these stories. (Which I don’t think was helped by her being not herself in both). It’s also a bit sad because it’s the last one John Hurt did before he passed which is a shame. It was a good enough ep but I dunno. I think an issue with the war Doctor stuff is that they’re pretty depressing but not only that there’s the daleks constantly doing all these evil insane things during the war which are only barely stopped by the Doctor and time lords… so why haven’t the post time war daleks done this stuff? (And also the war doctor doesn’t want to be called doctor but he doesn’t provide an alternate name so people just call him it anyway)

A few days ago I saw Seapeekay mention playing marvel snap and enjoying it so I decided to try it and… it is, damnit. It’s actually quite good and I’ve been on it a fair bit these past days. Damnit

Magic arena had a new update with the new set and I had luck with the first of the free packs giving me a planeswalker. Unfortunately it’s Chandra, who is red and the rest of the packs I’ve had seem to be hardly giving me red stuff (or white for the Elspeth planeswalker I got too). Maybe I’ll do another draft to attempt to get a red/white deck (I’m kinda kicking myself not getting the red praetor in the other one I did). Maybe I’ll do that later

Qsmp has been cute and wild, Quackity decided to start a school for the eggs which felt like it would be nefarious but ended up being sweet with little tallulah and eggs doing adorable art. (I think whatever grief based revenge he was planning is gonna die) And then Wilbur went live yesterday at 2am which I missed so watched the vod this morning and awww Tallulah is the cutest bundle of sunshine and her little flute and awww! And of course Quackity comes and bes both a menace and horny. And Roier being so sweet.

But damn Quackity coming up with those eggs has been just a genius idea because everyone is so so attached (perhaps to an unhealthy degree) which is so sweet. I suspect they might be kept in the server longer than planned. But I guess we’ll see because there’s definitely something strange having too.

The las Nevadas merch is also finally on the way though tracking stopped a week ago in London (why would it need to take an internal flight instead of being driven?)

Again as mentioned above yesterday my mindset went weird all day and odd which was so annoying. Though there were some good things.

The Mandalorian finale was yesterday and after all the theorising and assuming something bad/heartbreaking would happen it was actually a great episode, resolving a bunch of things and also setting out how next season will go.

I also finally started Resident Evil 4 (deciding to do it instead of waiting to finished Resident Evil 2). The villain Leon outfit is so hot (and has glowy red eyes!) and I managed over two sessions (in the afternoon and night) to get to the end of chapter one and finding Luis gagged. Also it has a photo mode which’ll be useful for getting screencaps as long as I rememebr it (which I haven’t at times Oop).. so expect a Leon or Luis icon soon.

There was alsoIndie world showing off some new upcoming indie games for the switch, most of which sound interesting. I think the one I’ll definitely get is Oxenfree 2 (I remember enjoying the first one) while other ones I want more info on. Also cult of the lamb’s new update goes leave next week! Woo! I need to get back on it. here’s the full announcement list

Today my mindset seems a little better but as mentioned I feels woozy (and my stomach feels funny) so I hope lunch will help settle it but if not? I dunno.

Zelda is in three weeks now and I’ve not done anything to any of the three things I wanna do before it comes out: finish reading Lesser Known Monsters, do more/finish Pokémon Biolet (which I’ve not been back on in so long Oop) and finish fic (which even looked at in a few days annoyingly). I wanna get all three done by then but hopefully I can do at least one before Zelda takes over my focus.
shadowhive: (Awsten Rainbow boy)
Last night I didn’t do too much, I just watched stuff and then did a little gaming and my eyes went funny which meant I went up early.

I did finish Why Didn’t They Ask Evans which was a bit… I dunno. I think it took too long for it to get anywhere and it just didn’t feel too satisfying. But then again maybe the source material wasn’t either? In which case then it was a pretty good adaption.

I also listened to the who audios that was on bbc sounds (good job too there’s under a week of it being on there) and it was pretty good. It was nice to hear Leela again, even though she was so damaged. I know she’s in the other one I need to listen to too which I will soon,

(I also did some Resident Evil Mercenaries and unlocked Luis, and did Forza earlier which looks pretty though I’m still bad at racing)

There was a code from Spotify for the new Waterparks tour which I might not go to (unless it doesn’t sell out and the album turns out to be good) but it amused me the code was Gawsten, like why make it one of the band ship names?

Today was gonna be a rest day, but I saw on twitter that someone saw some of the new micro galaxy squadron stuff in Morrisons, and with money off too! Since mum was going to town with her library colleague this morning I decided to tag along just in case, not expecting to see anything…

However! They had some! They had the series 1 blind boxes reduced (sadly it was 2 AT-RT’s which I I already had but there was a speeder bike!), plus two series two ships. One was a snowspeeder which I wasn’t gonna get but is pretty cool (it even has a tow cable which I didn’t expect!) but the other was the one I had been hoping for, Bo-Katan’s starfighter! It’s so cool and rotates and is just so awesome. Though I suspect they will end up redoing it to make it bigger and add some features. But I’m so glad they had it!

Also from there I got some Easter stuff (the only place I’ve seen some), the new Lego explorers magazine and a Hairy Bikers vegetarian book which was reduced and has some nice sounding things. (Alas between them and other things I vastly overspent, boo but some of that was mum’s birthday stuff.) We had to stop off on the way back for mums friend to get something from sainsburys so I popped in and they had series 2 blind boxes reduced too so I got some and there was great pulls, with the mandalorian and a STAP! Plus mum got me the Marple book cause I pointed it out. (It was my first time seeing it and I wasn’t gonna get it but she was insistent

When we got back I watched The Mandalorian which was a mix of AHHH and imperials are bastards.

I then popped to put money on the gas card, cause we ran out when a storm came the other night. Alas the nearest payment site (a Nisa just up the road) is now… not a Payzone site suddenly. The nearest one instead is down near the train station which is an absurd place for it to be. It was too far to go today, especially because of the storm coming back, but I’ll try tomorrow. Of course Payzone don’t have a proper contact form to complain, because that’s just ridiculous nonsense.

(Of course it did rain again but now it’s suddenly gone sunny which is too late)

The rest of tonight I’m just gonna bundle up and rest then watch the qsmp tonight. And hopefully do some other things.
shadowhive: (Foolish Name your price)
The past few days have been a bit off. My head’s felt a bit headachy and off, which I think is down to the storms that have rolled in the past few nights. It’s meant I’ve neither got back to Resident Evil 2 or watched anything on shudder like I was going to (the latter especially last night when I ended up zoning out instead)

Sigh.

There has been some Who related stuff though. On Wednesday (unexpectedly early) the new Doctor Who magazine came. I’ve not had much chance to look through it yet (just the review of season 9) but I might do it soon. I am annoyed that I was holding off on doing the 3rd and 4th Doctor ranking thing cause of season 9 cause that’s closed now and it’s now 5th and 6th, which is annoying cause there really needs to be a 5th Doctor boxset soon.

One of the past nights I also put in one of the Who audios that was on BBC sounds lately, which is the the first part of the last War Doctor set with John Hurt before he passed. But fuck was it so depressing, with the start and end having the daleks being cunts and just… ugh. It was depressing. I’m hoping the other two stories are better, because they have Leela.

I also heard back from Lost In Time’s support and they say they’re gonna look into it so maybe I can get my progress back? But I’m not hopefully. The new event also seems kinda strange too, though kudos for them trying something different I guess.

Since mum’s kindle acted up and she didn’t wanna take it to get fixed she got a new one (luckily the Amazon sale crossed over with her money going in) and it came yesterday, just after we ate. It’s odd though, because as soon as I opened it all I did was select language and country…. And somehow it had access to the account and wi-fi without me putting in the info for either. How did it do that? Did it somehow sync with the old one or maybe the tv? Either way it’s… odd.

That’s it really I haven’t done much else (ep other than Fortnite event stuff). I did try and go back to the thing I started ficcing Monday but I can’t seem to word it right for some reason. Maybe I’ll look at something else later.

Brief Picard thoughts ahoy.

Tomorrow it’s the trip to the cinema to see Dungeons And Dragons, because it looks so fun. (I am jealous of people in America AMC seems to have d20 popcorn buckets and tankards which looks so cool!) the plan is to go in a few places too, maybe have McDonald’s as well and make it a nice day. As long as it’s not terrible weather again

It’s also the first day of April (already??) so hopefully I’ll post the first AMA and the monthly round up before I go in the morning. And then at night there’s MCC which I’ll likely end up watching Ranboo.

I’m sure I was gonna say something else but it’s gone out my head.
shadowhive: (Awsten/Otto A hand to hold)
Sunday night was a bit uneven. The Lost Symbol ep was mostly a flashback one which meant every other scene was a past one and sometimes the distinction wasn’t clear.

I then watched through all of the special features on The Chase disc. Most were pretty good, though it did feel like some should have been put together into one thing. I’m not sure when I’ll watch The Time Meddler but hopefully this week. I also finished the Eye Of Harmony audio but for some reason it kinda felt unsatisfying by the end? I dunno why maybe it was cause it was broken up in two. At least the next war Doctor audios will be on bbc sounds this month (which sadly are the last ones with John Hurt before he passed) so let’s see how they’ll be. The theme still slaps though.

Yesterday was also a bit stressful but in the end it feels like things will be better now we is good.

The annoying thing I’ll discuss here though is that the lady that’s at the library with mum in the afternoon has hurt her leg and doesn’t feel up to going today. Which is fair enough I don’t mind covering (although it is a bit of a nuisance but at least it’ll give me an excuse to read the Who magazine) but today is the food shop day which usually comes in the afternoon when mums at the library. Thankfully they still had slots that were later, but I think mum didn’t understand what I was telling her (you can change the delivery anytime before 11pm the day before) and for some reason thought the slot could be changed today (when the lady she’s with in the morning said she could come up for half of it).

So now I had the choice: come up when mum goes at 2 (in a car) or come up myself at 3 (walking). I chose the former, even though the whole thing is a abit annoying.

Last night I did think about gaming some but in the end I just watched Ranboo stream and then Eret while I did fortnite some (I need just a few more levels before the season ends) but then it went so cold I just shifted up to the cozier blanket.

I did manage to write some, just over a paragraph but it’s something. I also accidentally and unintentionally fell down a Weathers hole so I might fic something with Cameron again soon but what I dunno. (And damn All Caps has grown on me)

I had been hoping to go back on Pokémon violet recently, but there’s some sort of bug in the latest update wiping saves so I’m not touching it till it’s fixed, hopefully it’s soon.

Also gaming wise a game I backed on kickstarter announced it was coming out next month which is pretty cool (and also impressive since they’re in Ukraine). So if I don’t get Resident Evil 4 that’ll be a focus next month.

So far this morning I’ve not done much, I watched a few things on YouTube and I’ve been uploading the screencaps from the switch to the laptop so I can clear space. I was hoping to manage the iCloud pics on the Xbox but for some reason there doesn’t seem to be a bulk download and the whole system seems annoying. It’s a shame because otherwise it’s a better system than the switch one I just dunno why (like the switch) it doesn’t tell you about image space until the end (but at least it still saves them on the Xbox).

I’m thinking of doing a month thing like [personal profile] yarnofariadne is doing for March but for April. If I do I’ll post it soon.

Tonight I might game some though I’m not sure what yet (it depends if I’m tired cause the food shop is coming pretty late now). It might be getting back to Hi-Fi Rush or Sonic Frontiers (since I popped the disc in) but it depends how I feel/if anyone streams/if I get too tired

Last night I ended up starting Lost In Random for a Xbox reward quest. I’d got it awhile ago on sale but never started it (the trailer interested me when I saw it). So far I did most of the intro section and I’m not sure what to think of it just yet. It’s kinda good but kinda…. I dunno exactly. But I like the ghost thing, it was cute.

I meant to start the Far sequel before it leaves game pass but I didn’t and I don’t think I will (I don’t think I can run through it in a few days, which is a shame). Ah well, I’d had it lingering for so long (I really need to stop just downloading game pass stuff and never even starting them).

Last night I put on the next of the Who audios on bbc sounds and it was a pretty good one. It was all about a bunch of sontarans which were pretty ballsy and trying to get in on the time war. Neither daleks nor Time Lords wanted them involved (even when they offered a hostage) but it didn’t stop them trying.

Today was the trip to Birmingham which I have mixed feelings about.

Mum did better than I thought with the day, managing to do more walking than expected, though she was wisely able to sit out the standing for the signing part (thanks hmv people for that!)

My new pod thing also ended up dying part way through the day which was odd.I thought the switch charger was charging it (it fits in the slot) so that’s a little… concerning. I’ll have to see if I can find the lead that was in the box to see if it’ll charge from that, if not… then I have to let Amazon know.

First stop was hmv to pick up the albums. I also got a Where’s Wookiee collectors box (that mum spotted for £1.99), the new Scream film, Venom Let There Be Carnage (neither of which I’ve seen) and the blu ray version of the matrix (which I still need to rewatch the trilogy of before the new one)

Next stop was Forbidden Planet where I was only aiming to get the new Doctor Who magazine special (of 1988 which is the silver anniversary season) which they had, but they also had a bunch of Doctor Who graphic novels for 99p so… I got a load. Despite having a bunch I’ve still not read, Oop. I also got a special funko of Boba Fett’s throne, with Fennec which was reduced too and looks pretty cool.

Then we went in a few other places too. To my surprise I got a fortnite tee and mini funko thing from Poundland (and new earphones cause the ones I used for watching streams died). I got an Omega figure and headset from Game (just in case I do decide to stream resident evil 4). And I got a Lego birds nest set from Lego (alas they didn’t have the lovebird set). Lego also had Bowser on display with the guitar on him which was so fun.

Then we had noms in McDonald’s which was ok (alas they didn’t have the galaxy caramel ice cream for some reason) before heading back for the signing. (And for that we go under the cut)

On the way back home I saw the sunset in the distance which was pretty and I think I saw Jupiter and Venus in the sky (or maybe they were just bright stars, I’m not sure). And now I’m home and feel pretty wiped out so I might sleep soon after the lost symbol’s been on.

Tomorrow mum’s friend is coming which is… eh. I’ll stay up as long as I can cause she can be kinda loud (and I hope she doesn’t need me to go to town to pay money in or anything) and then there’s the Pokémon stream.

So as predicted, I missed a post yesterday. Oop. I’m not really sure why and I only realised I hadn’t just before I was heading up to bed. Ah well.

Sunday night I managed to watch Lower Decks, the newest two eps. I really love this show I think it’s my favourite of the new Trek series (although I’ve still not watched strange new worlds cause paramount+ is useless so I’m just gonna cancel it before the free month ends). It’s just so fun and funny and it’s nice to get references to the other series (these two featured Martok as well as a manifestation of Leah Brahms from TNG).

Yesterday I was gonna watch the newest Rings Of Power… but for some reason the Prime app wasn’t working. It just kept buffering and pausing during the recap and I wasn’t gonna watch the whole ep like that.

Instead I went on Dreamlight Valley and I’ve played… so much. I’ve unlocked the frozen realm, the pickaxe and shovel upgrades as well as meeting all the characters from Frozen. It’s definitely a huge time sync and if anyone likes Animal Crossing I’d definitely recommend it (bonus over that? The shops are open 24/7). It does make me wanna watch more films though (I’m adding Frozen 2 and the little mermaid to Moana on my to watch list cause of this).

Last night I also watched The Twilight Zone with the first eps of season 2. They were both… ok. I think the second one had a bit more potential but it ended kinda ebruptly (which was odd cause it could have been longer because it ended before the hour was over).

A vlog I watched last night has inspired me to do something so I might do a quick little thing before the main thing I’m hoping to finish.

Yesterday and this morning I decided to listen to who audios. Yesterday was Judoon in chains and this morning was harvest of the sycorax. Both were longer than the angels one (which surprised me a bit) and of the two I think the Judoon one was my favourite (and not just because of my fondness for Judoon). Thinking on it both had kinda similar things (as in corrupt corporate people in both). The Judoon one was a bit more meandering, but I think it worked and I did enjoy the Sycorax one, even though they’re not exactly my fav race and they weren’t particularly memorable (I’ve not seen the ep in… so long but they are things I remember but they’re not one of them).

I was checking Forbidden Planet today cause I was waiting on a comic from them… only to find out it had been cancelled without them telling me. The thing is it’s not cause it was out of stock or anything (I found the exact variant I’d ordered in stock) so it’s very strange.

Right now though everything is strange. It seems like everything is at a standstill. The government has seemingly enforced national mourning and it’s manifested itself in all kinds of odd ways. Self service checkouts are silent, doctors appointments (and surgeries, and maternity appointments) are cancelled, venues have cancelled performances, Xbox uk streams are stopped, Big finish sent an email…. Saying they weren’t sending emails. I know I’ve heard more but it’s just absurd.

There’s a Nintendo direct today, which is great! ….but we’re not even getting a livestream of it because of the mourning. And I just…. What? It’s so fucking… absurd. It’s like they want anything that could brings people joy in this time to be suppressed. (Either that or some things are just taking things too far.)

This morning was supposed to be the phone call that has already been put back three times… but there’s been nothing. BecUse it’s from a government department I’m just going to assume it’s been cancelled too. I’m not gonna chase it up, I’m too tired to and I’ve already chased it up every other damn time so I’m sick of it.

Ah well. In awhile there’s the last Fortnite quests for the season so I’ll do them and then watch the Nintendo things when they put the video up on YouTube (a full hour behind when it’s streamed, I could watch the us one but I know there’s differences).

I think I was gonna say something else but… it’s gone. Oop.

Tomorrow we’re taking Naryu for her jabs, so I’m hoping that weather stays ok cause it’s been so damn changeable.

A slightly earlier song Saturday, cause I dunno if I’ll have the time actually on Saturday.

I’ve been such a fail at doing this, even though I pondered doing a few songs I’ve just… not. But I had to do this one so, here it is.

So I know CG5 has been working on a Quackity song for awhile and yesterday this got posted. I wasn’t able to watch the premier of the video on YouTube (a mix of watching some of Quakecon and doing badly in a Fortnite tournament) but I saw screenshots of the animation and knew I had to see asap.

Because let’s face it, the animation is amazing art and huge kudos to the artist that worked on it. Diceshimi did such wonderful work! It’s so pretty and detailed and just… I love it. It covers c!Quackity’s stuff, but mostly focussing on the Las Nevadas stuff. (And it makes me wanna watch the stuff I’ve not seen I’ve still only seen the last one) there’s just so much to it, and I love the card art for Foolish,

But ah the song! It could so easily play as Quackity’s villain song and it’s just so… epic. I think the instrumental bit towards the end does work better with the visuals of the video (the fight with Purpled is so !!!) but it still works. And there’s just so so much to it.

I’ve lost track of the amount of times I’ve listened to this song already and it’s only been out, what? 15 hours or something? And i know it’s gonna get stuck in my head. I wish I could find a place to download CG5’s stuff to put on my pod thing.

***

The past few days have been a bit… iffy. Culminating in a massive depression downswing Wednesday night which was… ugh.it’s hard to define, but in some ways there are elements I can see as a contribution. But I’m not gonna go into those here.

Before that on Wednesday there was some better things. The new Who magazine came which had some info on the Abominable Snowman blu ray, coming in a few weeks, as well as a tribute thing for Bernard Cribbins (which I’ve not read yet but will soon). There was also a short thing on the upcoming Who Ray, again wisely not confirming a date.

Jack did a stream that night too which was a bit surreal, as it had Micheal from 5 Seconds Of Summer join the DreamSMP which was just… so strange. Especially as they ended up listening to clips of songs some people have made.

Yesterday was… slightly better. But my mood was slight off most of the day. But hey, we got a Wilbur and a Ranboo stream (annoyingly overlapping).

I’m a bit annoyed too cause insomnia put up times of stuff and, ugh. It seems there are some interesting panels on Friday after all… but it seems everything is clashing (one’s at 1-2, one starts at 1:30 and the Zelda meet and greet is from 1 too) which is just so… ugh. Also annoying? It seems seapeekay’s not gonna be there on the Friday anyway but will be there on the Saturday. Which made me think should I go Saturday too (cause there’s an interesting sounding dnd thing too) but I think it’d be too busy and a bit much. And it’s seapeekay it’s not as if its Wilbur or Ranboo.

Semi related to dnd, but Magic The Gathering had a thing last night too and there’s gonna be a Doctor Who set for it! The art looks so cool! I dunno if there’s a date or anything but I definitely wanna get it.

Today I had to make icons from Lonely King so while I did I listened to one of the audios from the Doctor Who humble bundle. I’d noticed they had the full set of the first Classic Doctors new monsters which is something I’d always been curious about. The concept is exactly what it says, each of the audios features one of the classic Doctors with one of the new monsters from the new series (although the last of the four is… sontarans, which seems a bit cheap but then again there might but something else in there).

This morning I listened to the first one, Fallen angels, which was about, as the name implies, the weeping angels. I was curious how the angels would work in audio as they’re a very… visual concept. It works pretty well, with musical cues signalling when they move and it’s actually a pretty good story. The classic doctor for this one was the fifth Doctor which works well though oddly he lacks any of his companions for the story. Instead there’s two new people, who got displaced by the angels (one of whom is voiced by the new master! Which was cool but a little odd too).

One interesting thing about it is something the Doctor mentioned at the end. Once the angels are trapped the couple asks if they can be taken home, but the doctor says that he can’t because of the angels sending them back. I wonder if that was put in as an explanation for why the doctor couldn’t go back for Amy and Rory later.

I’m looking forward to listening to the rest, hopefully I can listen to them fairly regularly. The other two classic Doctor new monster eps feature the Judoon and the Sycorax, and I love the Judoon so im definitely gonna listen to that one.

Today I’m gonna… I dunno. It depends if my mood stays stable (although as I was working on this post the net, or perhaps the pad, has acted up so maybe not)

Tomorrow I’m stuck going to town cause of taking money in for mums friend, but hopefully I can take advantage of it and check smiths for some magazines, but also go to Macdonalds too. They have halloumi fries! And also Pokemon happy meals, so I’m gonna try and get one (I wanna see what the cards with them are!). And then there’s MCC in the night. I might end up watching Ranboo again, if only to see what outfit he’s gonna wear this time.
