shadowhive: (Lothcat Cute)
So the last few days have been eventful so it’s time, again, for a general post.

So on Sunday I started watching The Residence. I saw a trailer for it on twitter about a month or so ago and I was instantly intrigued. It’s a murder mystery and someone has gotten killed at a large house while a party is going on downstairs. Which yeah, sounds like dozens of other murder mysteries, except this is no ordinary large house: it’s the white house.

I watched the first two episodes and, so far, it’s really great so far! I love the detective as she’s so quirky and has absolutely no respect for any of the guys trying to tell her what to do (or what not to do). The cast is also wild as there’s been a lot of people I’ve recognised (The FBI agent from Ant Man and Wandavision, Tilly from Star Trek Discovery, Jane Curtain from 3rd Rock from the sun, one of the guys from OG Charmed, hughJackman and Kylie Minogue! Oh and the guy that plays Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian is in it too.) I really love it and wanna watch more cause I wanna know what happened!

The rest of Sunday was kinda low energy but I did end up starting a game pass game, Planet Of Lana. It came to gamepass last year and I wanted to play it cause it looks so pretty but alas I got sidetracked. It really is so pretty though and there’s a cute lil guy called Mui who is like a lil black cat thing. It’s pretty good so far, though some parts are tricky.

I found out on insta that there’s gonna be an indie horror short film thing at a cinema in Birmingham (here’s the list) and I’m kinda tempted to check it out even though I dunno exactly where the cinema is and it’s on a library day. We’ll see if I do it (they’re also doing full showings of Twin Peaks which is kinda cool but they’re on Sundays)

There wasn’t gonna be any plans Monday, but then when I was looking at the tv guide I saw there was a film I’d wanted to see for awhile on. It was The Private Life Of Sherlock Holmes and I’d heard of it cause there’s a section at Loch Ness (which resulted in a prop being lost to the loch only to be found again a few years back). And honestly? It was a wild ride. It had Christopher Lee as Mycroft an opening story mostly unconnected to the rest (with Sherlock implying to someone that he was gay and Watson was his lover), a finale at Loch Ness and a closing scene that was so sad. (It’s on Sky Arts again Saturday afternoon.j I’m so glad I spottted the listing, though also so sad when I looked up later that there was intended to be more scenes to it but they got cut.

Since money, finally, turned up I decided to go to sainsburys this morning to look for eggs. As I posted on insta I did find some, in sainsburys and Aldi, but there really weren’t many options and it was mainly more expensive eggs left. M and S’s food also didn’t have anything which was a shame as I wanted to try some of their hot cross buns. I did get a lil Lego Yoshi and the new radio times from sainsburys though.

(Also Pets at home had the cutest lil Guinea pigs they were so adorable😭)

I did manage to get a Lindt eggfor mum though as thanks for all the issues, though the box could easily have been half the size it was. We also had dominos, which was good though I’m sure the price has gone up since we last had some.

Also today Elder Scrolls Oblivion has been remastered and was out today! It’s on game pass too so I might try it sometime but it’s 120GB thst means I have to figure out a way to make space (damn xbox and memory card things being so small)

Also today the local cinema put up the Episode III showing times and it looks like it’s only from Friday-Sunday which is a bit annoying. It’s also annoying it’s only one showing, 3:45 which means I can get there on bus, but have to walk back if I go. I’ll see what the weather is like, but I know Saturday is out cause of Doctor Who.

Anyway! I think that’s everything but I’m probably missing something super obvious.
shadowhive: (15 Hot)
The last few days have continued to be very low energy. It’s so annoying cause it’s meant I’ve not done things that I wanted to do cause my focus has been so off (namely, watch stuff, fic and game).

I did start a game on game pass the other night, a puzzle game called Blue Prince, but damn. It is very much a luck based game. The goal is to get to a certain room in a house and every door you pass through lets you ‘draft’ a room from a selection of three random ones. Each room is different from bedrooms, to corridors, even a pool and, if you have bad luck, all your options are dead ends. I thought I did well last night with it, I got to the room but couldn’t get in…. Because you need to find certain rooms to open the doors of the room. That seems like an infuriating decision especially when you’ve no choice over the rooms you get.

Yesterday I was waiting for a package that meant to come between 7;34-11:34 but did it arrive at those times? Nope. In fact it didn’t arrive at all which is so annoying but feels… typical.

While waiting I did end up reading (and finishing) The Mystery Of Three Quarters. I ended up reading the last 15 chapters over the course of the afternoon. It was pretty good. I ended up really sympathising with Annabel and wanted to give her a hug (and her pupper too).

Next I might get back to Flight Of Icarus (I only read three quarters next cause it was a library book mum bought back) then do this months read Christie book.

Yesterday’s main thing was that Doctor Who is back! So thoughts on The Robot Revolution under the cut.

After Who I ended up watching a few things and being on Fortnite then I dozed off downstairs. However when I went up I was restless and just couldn’t settle which …. Ugh.

And then today the first of the new payments was meant to go in but it’s not. And now I’m just stressing over that.is it late cause it’s the first payment? Cause it’s Sunday? Or has been some mistake, either on their end or did I make a mistake in my bank details? It’s so stressful and I’m trying to put it out of my mind (cause I can’t do anything) but I have sent a message to them. Hopefully a reply comes back. (Or better yet it’s resolved before then.)
shadowhive: (Link/Sidon The Turning Tide)
My energy has still been a but drained after Monday, so I’ve not been doing much at nights like I’ve hoped, mostly cause my eyes were too achy to watch stuff/game. So the other night I ended up just listening to audios (catching up on Magnus Protocol and a Who audio. The later was Tales From The Vault which was a really good concept, set at a UNIT vault that holds various artefacts and including recordings from prior companions. It was a neat idea and feels a shame they didn’t expand on it to more follow ups.

Continuing the Nintendo switch 2 thoughts there was day 1 of a treehouse stream yesterday and I watched it so you don’t have to (it was 4+ hours!). I did end up flagging a bit cause of the length though. Mostly it was playing through sections of the various games (and both Mario Kart and Donkey Kong got 2 sections)

*Mario Kart - Looks really pretty and it does look like it’ll be really fun. Someone did the sums and there’s (assuming every page of characters has 12 characters) 84 playable characters which seems crazy. No word on if you have to unlock them (I guess that’ll be in the direct) though I’m assuming stuff like free roam will include that
*Donkey Kong - Again it looks really pretty and some of the mechanics do look clever. Im not fully sold on it cause it seems to be destroying things a lot. BUT there is a cute lil rock guy friend
*Metroid - Looks really great, the opening cutscene especially looks suitably epic. I’ve not really played Metroid before but I feel I’d be tempted
*Welcome Tour - It looks interesting and there some cute mini game things… but it really feels like something that should be included on the system for free. I don’t see anyone paying for this
*Drag X Drive - I love the concept and the controls are original, but I’m curious if there’s any form of customisation cause all the players looked the same. Also I feel this is one game where you’d need a demo to see if the control system works for you
*Zelda upgrades - They showed some of BOTW side by side with switch versions and you could see the difference, especially in loading times. They also went over some of the Zelda notes features and some do look cool, especially being able to share things you’ve made as well as items. The many draw will be the new voice acted memories, though I’m not fond of them being tied to an app instead of just being in game

Day 2’s stream has started now so I’ll either post later or maybe edit here (first is Mario party).

Last night I’did end up feeling up to watching a thing, which was Hostile Dimensions. It’s a new found footage film on shudder which just came on the uk version (I dunno if it’s elsewhere) and I’d not heard it before but the description was interesting.

Synopsis time: While filming in an abandoned building a pair of documentary filmmakers find a mysterious door. After one goes missing the footage is found online and two more documentary filmmakers decide to find what happened.

Thoughts under the cut.

All in all it feels like a solid little film, I’d probably give it a 7.5/10 (though I’m never good at rating things). Solid concept, pretty great execution. Would watch again.

Now I’m gonna watch treehouse some more, snuggle Midna and then… I dunno.
shadowhive: (Prince Sidon Zora Prince!)
After the nonsense of Sunday night/Monday and yesterday, I’m actually feeling a lot better, much more ‘normal’ and certainly stable on my feet (and able to eat!). Clearly whatever it was (be it a bug or stress induced) is over now. So that’s good.

Today was the Switch 2 Direct stream which was A Lot. It started off really strong, showing off a new Mario Kart and honestly some of the racers are wild. The many one highlighted was a cow, but people have freeze framed all kinds of stuff, goombas, penguins, even a dolphin. It looks so pretty and looks like it’ll be a lot of fun.

Mario Kart was the ‘main’ first party nintendo title (it’s even getting its own direct in two weeks) and the focus of the rest of the stream was a bit more all over the place. There were some games from partners coming to switch 2, including Hades II which looks so cool.

There’s also gonna be a new Hyrule Warriors game which looks really cool, set during the time Zelda was in the past during TOTK. That’s gonna be a must get, as is the new Zelda amiibo cause there’s finally my boy Prince Sidon!

Then there’s updates to some switch games which seems like a mixed bag. Some are free, others require a paid upgrade (though some are free with Nintendo online) which feels a bit… I guess it depends on what the content actually is if it’s worth it but I guess we’ll see. (It also feels a bit wrong that the tech demo thing isn’t included and is a paid thing)

But then we come to the big elephants in the room. First it’s coming a lot sooner than I expected. It’s coming June 5th which is a little over two months. The second is the price. It’s £396 which is A Lot to put together in two months even under ideal circumstances but there is a £430 bundle which adds Mario Kart (which considering the game is about £70 it is a saving).

I’d like to get it on release of course, cause I have got the last nintendo consoles on release, but I’m not sure I will cause of the timing. Maybe Amazon will have an option to spread the cost, or nintendo will still have the student discount. We’ll see.

There’s also gonna be two nintendo treehouse streams tomorrow and Friday so I’ll watch them for info on the other games.

After that there was a new Star Wars trailer for an animated show coming on May 4th, Tales Of The Underworld and it looks so cool! It’s got Ventress, who is always an interesting character as well as Cad Bane who is pretty cool too. I’ll definitely watch it all on release because I need.

Now though my energy has felt depleted which is a shame. I might just do the daily xbox games and then flop.
shadowhive: (Billy (ST) Pretty)
So slightly more upbeat post time.

So between the last post and now I have watched the next Stranger Things ep so I’m gonna mention that first.

I was right that Nancy and Robin went to see Creel (Robin coming in clutch again both to get them access and figure things out). But damn, they got Robert Englund in as Creel, like I knew I recognised him from somewhere but the eyes being sewn up threw me off until I saw his name in the credits.

But damn the sudden gunfight was so unexpected. Those military guys (assuming they’re military) really didn’t care to find out if Eleven was even there they just started blasting (typical Americans). And I felt so bad for Joyce and Hopper cause they got screwed over big time, but at the same time? I had a feeling something might go wrong.

But of course it was Max’s episode and now I get why Running Up That Hill was a huge thing when it came out. Like damn that was impress (and it even got enough play because of it to give Kate Bush a number 1??) but damn Vecna was really screwing Max over first pretending to be her mum then Billy (damn he looked good though) and just… damn I felt so bad for her and she needs hugs.

Next ep might be tonight, if not it might not be till Monday. (After all I was meant to watch weekly and I’ve just… doubled up sometimes.)

Other than that I started a game pass game called Have A Nice Death which is one of those games (in a vein like Hades and Cult Of The Lamb), where you do runs beating up enemies until you get to a boss. Unlike them this is a sidescroller though. It’s pretty fun and the character dialogue and text is very funny, but that first boss seems to be really hard. I’ve done at least 8 runs now and had no luck beating him which is annoying.

I’ve also been doing Elder Scrolls Online cause there’s another event already and I’ve ended up getting absorbed in the Necrom questline. Why are Daedric Princes working together to get into Apocrypha! What hidden knowledge are they after so badly they’d co-operate? I’m so curious.

Another good thing some doozer pins I ordered came! They were blind bags which is a shame but I did get one of the ones I really liked the look of! I might put them on my bag.

Also been reading ABC Murders some more and it was so funny seeing Sevenoaks and Llandudno get name dropped. I’m now about halfway through with it so I might finish it the next few days

I’ve had no luck finding the Henry funko as yet (I’m sure it’s been moved with my Xenk one but I’ve no idea where they are) and now I have to find the phone cause it’s awol too. Ugh. Trouble is the only time I can really search is night and I get sidetracked and I’ve had no luck so far. But I did find I Want That Twink Obliterated and the Sleep Token magazines I took to the library so that’s something.

Also I just got back from walking the pup and picking some things up and came up with a half baked idea but I need wisdom. Does anyone if the dice that appear around valentines have a name? They’re two D6’s (the ‘regular’ dice) only instead of having numbers they have words. One has actions (ie lick) while one has body parts (ie mouth). Does anyone know if they have a name? Or, if you happen to have one, what’s on each of the 6 sides of each.

Now though I’m gonna bundle up, finish noms then watch Father Brown, do some reading, make a call for mum (ugh), do some Fortnite and watch tonight’s tv. And hopefully fic and maybe work on the prompt table.

Bonk

Ugh, the past few days have just been so exhausting. I just wanna bundle up forever.

First off things seem to have evened out a bit with mum, though I’m still on edge with her. The things she messed with are still all over the place and I’ve no idea where half the things even are, but I’ve not had the edge to actually sort through anything. Bleh.

Thursday night I ended up trying the new Indiana Jones game, which just came to gamepass on Monday (when it was released) mostly I did the prologue and opening chapter and it was pretty fun. The prologue was the opening of the first film (complete with boulder chase) then you had to investigate the collage and then explore a place in Italy. It’s that last section where you had enemies, in this case fascists and I very much approve that the game lets you hit them with all kinds of things. My go to was a a trusty broom (whenever I saw one I’d pick it up) and it was fun to sneak up and whack them. Or just bash them in general.

After finishing a section I stopped cause it was Game Awards and, honestly, it was pretty much the same as usual. It was about 4 hours long and, as Stanley and Waldorf said (yep they had the heckling muppets there!) ‘It’s like game commercials with award interruptions!’ At least the people that got to go on stage didn’t get rushed this time, but there was still times when they speed ran awards and didn’t even hand them over which feels disrespectful.

I had intended to send the package to [profile] fleshdolls Friday but between a storm warning and tiredness I didn’t. However I was able to send it Saturday, yay! So here’s hoping it gets there safely.

With it sent I was able to put up the Life Day advent calendar I picked up when I saw Smile 2 and it’s so pretty. I have to open a few doors a day to catch up but I like the R2 with a scarf.

The past three days have mostly been taken up with the 6 hour stints of No Dice, the dnd campaign that started during the Tubbathon. In the Tubbathon it was spread out, being one a week but for act 2 they decided to do it over a weekend which feels so chaotic. And it was, especially in the last fight where virtually everyone got turned into some form of animal. I do think having it all condensed like that didn’t give it as much room to breath/let things process though. There were giveaways for a postcard signed by the cast and I won one of them! Yay! So I’m looking forward to that arriving.

And speaking of dnd why’s my laptop always need an update when I open it for Dungeons And Dodongos? It’s cursed I tell you!

I did watch Sonic yesterday and hope to watch Sonic 2 tonight in prep for Sonic 3 Saturday.

But ugh there’s some new additional stress, because mum insisted on getting some stupid pendant thing on eBay (which I was against because of the timing) it looks like most of her pension is already gone so things are gonna be a struggle, though I can’t even check to confirm as her messing about shifted the card reader so her account can’t before. Which is so frustrating and so… ugh. I hate this time of year. (It feels time to dust off the ko-fi link just in case things fuck uo in these last weeks).

I was gonna order a James Marriott sweater but I held off cause of sending the package and having a bad feeling and now that is out of stick too which ugh. Hopefully it comes back but I’m not hopefully.
shadowhive: (Cinnamoroll Spooky boy)
So to start the post, as is tradition now, a health update.

So the thing on my back is gone, but the place where it was is still sore and occasionally hurts. I have to still be careful stretching to grab things and sometimes have to lay on my side, but at least it’s less than the thing was. Alas though I’ve had headaches instead, which is likely bought on by the recent bad weather (including a thunderstorm on Saturday) which is annoying.

But anyway, onto other things.

A few days ago I had a delivery, which turned out to be the kickstarter book I backed: I Want That Twink Olbliterated. It’s a sci fi anthology about twinks in various kinds of trouble so I’m looking forward to checking it out over October. I now have a total of three recent books to read after Rogue (alas my focus was off). Other than this there’s Shredded, another horror anthology by the same person that did one I read before and liked, as well as Death In The Stars a Doctor book written by Bonnie Langford herself which sounds intriguing. I might do the anthologies first, reading one a day but we’ll see.

I don’t think I’ll be doing kinktober this year. I still have some holdovers from last year I’ve not finished which I want to. But the bigger issue has been my focus being off and having a major lacking of creativity lately. It’s super annoying but.. ugh. I had considered doing spook me, but again the lack of focus/creativity (plus pain) meant I never did. I might do something along those lines though (likely based on the latest Set It Off song, though annoyingly it has no video). I’m hoping to have something done before the week is out but it depends on my focus.

Last week Agatha All Along started, so I decided to watch and it’s really great so far! The first ep plays out like a Wandavision ep (being a spoof of a detective story for a large part) but damn that ending. That Rio and Agatha fight was one of the most homoerotic fights I’ve seen in awhile! (And I love ‘teen’ too, though I don’t get why they’re concealing his name so much when it’s obvious who he is). The second ep was fun with Agatha getting the coven together and I’m really looking forward to tomorrows ep. But already I feel it’ll be my fav Marvel show.

I’ve also managed to finish season one of the Magnus protocol and damn, that ending left me with so many questions (though was so good). I wonder when we’ll find out what the protocol actually is though.

Speaking of finishing things I finished the Ju-On boxset. Ju-On: The Grudge 2 felt like a more cohesive story than the prior entries, though it also had three things that were less scary more ridiculous which took me out a bit. White Ghost and Black Ghost were each also self contained things, being completely new curses which I think worked really well for the most part. (Though the white ghost wasn’t so much scary as… I dunno the face looked so wrong). Like with watching the Ring box set it’s made me wanna watch the remake ones so I might have to do that at some point.

Because of Outlaws I ended up watching Solo on Sunday and it’s still so fun. I really do love it and think it’s a shame we didn’t get more young Han and especially young Lando (please sort the promised film/series Lucasfilm).

Speaking of Outlaws I played it a bunch lately and completed the questline with Qi’ra, got immense feels for ND-5 and then somehow got to last story quest so I did that. I could kinda see some of the end coming but not completely so was still surprised by some of the twists. But damn I really did love it. It was a lot of fun and I’ve come to really love Kay. Towards the end I couldn’t help but think of Qi’ra’s quote about Han, that she knew who he was and that he was ‘the good guy’ and that really applies to Kay too. The way she was just determined to help save her friends at the end, yeah that shows who she is. I hope we see more of her (there’s at least two dlcs at least) and I hope there’s merch too.

Today I finally, finally, got back to Tears Of The Kingdom after months of saying that I would. I ended up achieving a fair bit already today: I beat Master Kohga three times (including what seems to be the last time), healed the Deku tree, retrieved the master sword and I ended by landing at Hyrule castle. The new game is coming tomorrow but I’m not gonna start it until finishing Tears and I feel close to. (I fully expect Hyrule castle to be the first part of the end game, followed by whatever is in the depths beneath it).

Then tonight I finally started my VHS run with the first film. As the film went on the segments improved, with the last one being my fav (due to how effective the haunted house/possession was). But some parts were a lil rough. The guys in the wrap around were so unlikeable from the start and there was so many instances of guys just being dicks. Im looking forward to watching the others though (I’m hoping to watch 2 tomorrow and viral Friday) cause I know it does improve as it goes on. But I guess we’ll see.

VHS overall ratings
Wrap around: 4/10
Segment 1: 6/10
Segment 2: 6.5/10
Segment 3: 7.5/10
Segment 4: 7.5/10
Segment 5: 8/10

But I’ve rambled a bit so I’m gonna head off and flop.
shadowhive: (Yord Shirtless)
So like I mentioned the other day I wanted to see Alien Romulus but my choice was seeing it in town (meaning I’d have to walk back home at 9pm) or going to Birmingham (which I knew would be a money sink).

After some pondering I decided on the latter, going to Birmingham yesterday (so I was out from about 10:20am till 6:15pm), which was a pretty long day.

One thing I was looking for in Birmingham, but not expecting to see, was The Acolyte stuff. I knew there was a Kelnacca comic so there’d at least be that, but also the funkos were meant to be out today so I thought they might be early. I hoped, but didn’t expect, to see the black series figures (cause the uk release is all over the place). I saw none of the funko at all, but to my surprise the first forbidden planet (where I was going to pick up a bag for mum) had most of the first wave! In fact the only one they didn’t have (oddly) was Mae. Of course I had to get my boy Yord (because I both love him and he’s out of stock for preorder everywhere). So I was really happy for that and it made the trip worthwhile. (Plus I also got my friend a thing too which turned out to be rare!)

After that I wandered round a bit, looking in tk at the Halloween stuff (which looked cool and there was a dapper fox art piece) and I got some rainbow stuff for Naryu from another place. Next stop was a Game outlet store and I got another Star Wars figure (Zero from The Mandalorian, for only£5), some Disney cards and two xbox games. Dolmen had been on my list for awhile and No Straight Roads sounded interesting, but my surprise was how much they were. £2. For both of them! (And Dolmen is a series x game too!) I wish I’d looked at the switch games more to see if there was a good one there, but overall I’m pleased with them. Dolmen might be added to my spooky season games next month.

After wandering some more I went to the other Forbidden Planet, where I got the Kelnacca comic, Star Wars magazine (there’s a Yord interview in the next one!) and some cheap funkos (Morgan from Ahsoka, Paz from The Mandalorian and Aipom). Then I hit up hmv and picked up a signed palaye album as a well as some fox stickers (they’re cute but I’m bad with stickers, I dunno where to stick them!).

Then I had some noms, went round the bullring quick (and saw the m and s Halloween stuff, I want the ghost train tin!) and got one of the new Lego dnd figures. (It’s an Aarakocra ranger with a cute pupper! I also got Szass Tam from one I ordered that was here when I got back.)

Then I went to see Alien Romulus. There was a load or trailers before it, some that I saw last week (Venom, Captain America) but there was also Speak No Evil (buff James Mcavoy looks… wrong), the Smile 2 teaser (which I really wanna see), a teaser for The Monkey (I think that’s what it was I’m curious) and Nosteratu (looks very atmospheric). I’m sure I’m missing one cause there was A Lot. (And there was an outlaws ad with a qr code for a ship colour!)

Anyway, thoughts ahoy! Under the cut.

Last night up when I got back I was kinda tired and yet not at the same time? I watched The Swarm then went on Star Wars Outlaws some more. Damnn it’s so easy to get drawn in and lose yourself in it. But ahh I met Lady Qi’ra! I really need to watch Solo again. Also yay there was a gay couple in it too which was nice. And I got sidetracked and went to Akiva cause of them.

I was gonna watch the Quackity stream but cause it got delayed like three times I ended up drifting off which was a shame cause it seemed fun.

Today the tiredness really hit me, my eyes have been achy as has my head a but which is annoying (plus I zoned out and had a nap). Before that though I did work on the Deku tree some more. I have almost finished it now, I think there’s only one more bag of the BOTW one left. It looks very pretty, though I had to dismantle a bit when I realised the mouth was wrong which was a pain. But it looks pretty with all the blossom and I love the lil korok friends who are adorable.

The last BOTW bag is for a few more trees. But there’s also a few other bags which must be for OOT things. So I’m gonna go through them so I can make the stuff from there. There’s gonna be at least the Deku tree sprout, deku babas, skulltula, fairy bow/slingshot and gossip stone.

Also mum’s not been feeling too great. I think she’s hid exactly how bad she’s been feeling cause she had a test at the doctor’s yesterday and they gave her meds instantly. Then today she’s been even worse and I dunno if it’s cause of the infection or the meds. Either way we can’t really do anything cause of the weekend, I just hope she doesn’t make herself worse.

I think that’s all I wanna ramble about, though, as always, I suspect I’m missing something.
shadowhive: (Farnsworth The box!)
So [personal profile] dreamersdare is doing an august posting thing so I’m gonna try it too. It’s probably not gonna be the same sorta stuff (certainly today’s is more of a random stream of conscious kinda deal). But first a general update.

I feel the past few days have been draining. The heat has returned so it’s made it hard to focus which is so incredibly annoying. I’ve also had trouble settling to sleep which is… ugh.

It also feels I’ve had bad luck with a few things. A few of the in-line games I use have been disconnecting a lot. My tumblr is gone (and I’m not getting any answers as to why despite sending support messages). It really sucks cause I had so many memories there and was finally getting back to using it again. Ugh, hopefully they sort it.

I started a technic mini set, lost a cog for it, got stabbed maybe something while rooting for it (after losing it again) and then lost half of the build. Which is more of annoyance than the rest but I’ve had to wear a plaster since then.

Bleh.

But anyway, onto fandom things instead.

***

I picked up some things from the summer sale. I did an order with arrow video, which was gonna be just ju on in the sale but I added a few other things cause you could get a few gift when you spent so much. Those things are on their way (while ju on is on back order) and I also ordered the J Rising boxset (mpwhich might be a belated birthday present) and Trick R Treat.

The things that are coming from that are Audition and Lifeforce (both of which I’ve seen but not for a long long time), something called Hiruko The Goblin (never seen but sounds interesting) and The Sacred Spirit (which was the freebie which also sounds interesting).

From the Bethesda sale I eventually decided to get the Ebonheart pact dice set (yeha I have a problem) but also a tee and a hat.

I also had to use my game points before the reward card ended. I was gonna get vbucks, but they had to be delivered so I just got Xbox credit instead. (Cause the saving wouldn’t even cover the shipping.) I thought I might use it on the Xbox summer sale (I’d a few things in the basket to consider) but I decided none of them interested me enough.

Sunday I ended up watching The Turning because it was on tv and I was curious about. For the most part it was creepy in an unsettling way. And Finn Wolfhard was the standout part in it. Unfortunately the final scene of the whole film was very… unsatisfying because of how unclear it was?

Speaking of watching stuff Futurama was back on Monday and it was so good to see it back. I really liked the Aztec themed robots and I hope we see more of them at some point.

Gaming wise I finished the MCC event stuff and have the cape (yipee) though I’m a bit sad it’ll be over soon cause I like Seapeekay’s npc. (Speaking of him he’s also gonna be in a film! So I’m super curious what he’s gonna be in it cause he says it’s a speaking role and that it’s gonna be shown at Cannes which is wild).

Bloomburrow is also live in Magic arena, which looks so cute with all the animals! I feel I’m gonna end up making a bat deck soon.

Star Wars Hunters first season wrapped up and the season 2 Hunter is an imperial droid (like K-2SO) and the whole pass is empire themed which… eh. I’m not an empire boy so it’s a bit blah, though there are a few nice outfits (the death trooper, sunset and carmine outfits). Plus one of the other characters has a Zam Wesell themed outfit for in game currency so I’ll definitely pick that up.

Speaking of Star Wars we finally have a date for Skeleton Crew, the next Star Wars series. It sounds really fun from the description and I like that it sounds like it’s gonna be something different. I think it’s really sweet how the director said Jude Law (who is the main character) was with the child actors he’s working with. I am a bit worried the toxic parts of the fanbase will harass them but I hope I’m wrong (but then people suck).

I had a feeling I was gonna say something else but my brain is just… empty.

So I was gonna do a more general post but I saw I haven’t done the monthly round up so here it is.

As you can see the big things that a I’ve watched have been finishing season 1 of American Horror Story (which I’ve talked about) and starting season 2 though I need to get back to it. Also there’s the Acolyte that I’ve been enjoying (and damn, Manny Jacinto in the last eps has been so…)

Also! I finished a game! Yipee! I did hope to finish Still Wakes The Deep and, despite being tired and drained, I managed to. I had been looking forward to it and I love the whole spooky vibes of the whole thing and I loved the design of the… whatever it was that took over the rig. There’s no real answers about what exactly it is, but then I didn’t exactly expect there to be (these are rig workers dealing with an unexpected thing, not scientists or people intentionally looking for it). The ending has disappointed people and I can see why it did but also I can see why it went that way and it was certainly a bold choice.

I am, again, hoping this month will lead to more of these categories being filled in (books already has one so woo!) but we shall see.

***

Other things! Yesterday was so draining with mum starting an argument and then an annoying phone call I had to deal with (ugh) but then shoto posted new pics (ahhh I love the contrast between soft boy and chest) and then there was an unexpected Doctor Who announcement.

There’s a new blu ray collection coming out (the day after my birthday!) and it’s season 25. It’s an unexpected release cause usually someone leaks it but no one did this time. The trailer has made me excited for it, cause they’ve done new special edition extended versions for all four episodes which will be interesting cause they look pretty cool.

Today’s been the start of Owen’s subathon so I watched some. I backed the plushie he’s gonna do which I didn’t expect but the tang with it is so cute. Plus the badges look pretty (cause he got them this morning) so hopefully I’ll get them soon.

Gonna snuggle with Midna now and.. I dunno.
shadowhive: (Tate Rubberman)
Time for a post, cause it’s been awhile and the last one was mostly squeeing over getting my Set It Off ticket

First off last week, during Owen’s birthday stream, he did a contest using marbles on stream races and somehow I won! So I’m getting a set of his pins which is cool! (I think they’re the new ones he’s revealing tomorrow.) I didn’t think I’d win despite coming first in one race and fourth in another (cause I didn’t place in the others) but somehow I did. It was funny though, I got hit by an ad just as the races ended so I was very confused as to why people were saying my name in chat until they ended!

(Now I’ll see which come first these Owen badges or the Seapeekay ones I’ve been owed for months!)

The weather these past days has been so annoying and changeable, one day it’ll be ok the next it’ll be stormy and then yesterday and today it’s been really hot. Ugh that heat has been draining.

It was even worse yesterday cause we had to pick mums meds up and ended up getting a bunch of things which was tiring and weighed us down. (I didn’t get anything too exciting just the regular Lego magazines and two Pokémon mega sets, plus some chilli mango thing to try).

Monday had mum’s friend come, which I expected to mean I’d be sent out but I wasn’t. Though ugh I had to cover something she wanted that she decided on just before she left which was annoying. Tuesday was a library trip which was last minute foisted on me, but it meant I read my book some more so…

Also Tuesday was the Nintendo direct which was pretty good, though my main highlight from it is the new Zelda game which looks pretty cool. It’s gonna be interesting playing as Zelda this time and I’m curious about the echos she can make, I guess they’ll be a proper direct focussed on it before release.

Tuesday night Deep Space nine started (taking over from Stargate Universe that finished Monday though ugh it ended so inconclusively which isn’t a surprise cause it was cancelled between season so they had no warning) and I was debating watching but decided I should cause it’s deep space nine and it’s awesome. (Kira and Jadzia are my favs, though honestly everyone is so amazing in it).

Thoughts on other things are gonna be under the cut now. These are gonna be, in rough order, American Horror Story: Murder House, Doctor Who (The Legend Of Ruby Sunday, Pyramids Of Mars), The Umbrella Academy (cause I finally watched another ep), Still Wakes The deep, The Acolyte.

Anyway now I’m gonna bundle up, watch the Isle Of Wight Festival coverage (I’m hoping they’ll show some of James Marriott’s set though I dunno) and maybe work on something, though my mind has been annoyingly scattered lately

I had hoped the past week I could do a few things, namely watch more of season 2 of Wreck, do some gaming and fic more, but I’ve just been completely crashing most nights. I dunno if it’s cause of the weather, my general tiredness or side effects of the meds. Either way it’s been very annoying.

My doctor had a follow up appointment last week and I mentioned the tiredness but he didn’t seem concerned. I have to go back in a month to see if the meds help (it was too early to tell) and hopefully then I’ll bring up what I forgot to this time.

On the weekend it was summer games fest, which has been various gaming presentations with trailers and such. It didn’t feel like there was too much this time that stood out (it didn’t help that I zoned out during some of Fridays), though the new Assassins Creed looks cool, and obviously Star Wars Outlaws is looking awesome.

I did manage to do some gaming but mostly it was Dreamlight Valley speed running the star path (which uh is so annoying cause so many of the tasks are so irritating) and also Star Wars Hunters which is a free switch game. So far it’s really fun and I have been enjoying it, though I missed out on some event awards due to tiredness and them having odd quests.

I was gonna get back to The Umbrella Academy which I’ve not watched since that first ep of series 3, but instead I ended up watching two Marple eps on itv 3. The first one was the better of the two, though both were pretty good. We might end up watching others on the itv player.

Also Awsten from Waterparks is such a menace with his Otto is a serial killer agenda😭

Lastly some thoughts on Doctor Who and today’s Acolyte ep. (No thoughts on The Celestial Toymaker yet, but it did arrive Monday I’ve just not had chance to watch)

Now it’s time to do more Star Wars hunters, then watch some stuff and hopefully fic but we’ll see how much I do.
shadowhive: (Lola Cute)
The past few week has been pretty annoying, I think I counted at least 6 things that went wrong all at once last week which ended up being so incredibly exhausting. And then just as I get better from the mental aspects of it I’ve felt sick. Ugh. I dunno if the sickness part is due to something I ate or new meds but…. Ugh.

I’m not gonna dwell on the bad stuff though, apart from one of the more minor ones. When we walked Naryu last week my glasses slipped off my head and one of the arms came off. So I spent a few days having to wear my Parx hat to keep them on.

It took until Monday for me to be able to head down to get them sorted, but they thankfully were able to quickly which was a relief.

Friday we had to go to town for the first of mum’s tests, which went fine and everything seemed ok. The market was on in town which I don’t get to see often so I got two blu rays and some pretty stones. Then we had to stop off to get compost on the way home, so I popped in game and got one of the other Lego animal crossing sets. The best part of it (even more than the figures) is the lil hermit crab which is so adorable!

A game I played the beta of, Multiversus, came out of beta this week. I didn’t realise until I saw Connor stream it so I decided to go back to it. I hadn’t thought too much of it during the beta, it’s basically a smash bros style game with a very random bunch of characters, but I feel it’s definitely better now. I’m enjoying the PVE rift things which are fun. Also it’s wild having Jason from Friday the 13th as a new character, as well as the banana guard from Adventure Time (especially so cause he’s the third character in it which feels strange!).

Saturday was new Doctor Who and today was The Acolyte (thoughts on both under the cut for spoilers).

shadowhive: (BB-8 Thumbs up)
So thankfully my mouth is feeling better. I can still feel a small abmount of swelling but it’s barely noticeable now and there’s no pain and I can speak and eat ok which is a relief.

So it’s looking like we’re good to go tomorrow woo!

Today mum got the results from the blood test and she hasn’t got the cancer gene my uncle has which is some good news. That means I don’t have it either since she doesn’t which is also good. I know she’s been stressing about it even though she hasn’t wanted to admit it so I’m sure this will help settle her mind.

Since it’s Star Wars day tomorrow there’s all kinds of things going on, although if I’m honest I’m not hyped by some of it. I’m still stung from the Disney store order debacle last year I guess, so I’ve avoided looking there. I got one thing from the Amazon sale, a Padme tee so I’ve got an Episode I tee for tomorrow. I also ordered the Lego droideka a few days ago. I was gonna get it tomorrow from the store itself but figured it would be best just to order it instead. (For various reasons, but mostly to avoid carrying it and to ensure I got the freebies).

Today’s the start of the Fortnite Star Wars event which is a bit of a mixed bag. There’s a bunch of things and there’s free stuff to get in all the modes (my fav is the instrument from festival, which I think is my fav of the modes now, it’s basically guitar hero). The only issue this time is the pass. I love event passes and I always get them, even if they’re for things I know nothing about (like the recent Avatar one) and the last Star Wars one was really good (you got Darth Maul and a much of themed things around him and clones). This time’s one has Chewie which is cool but the rest of the pass is all for Lego fortnite. Which it’s kinda cool, but at the same time there’s nothing to go with Chewie so it feels a disappointment in comparison. (And I’m not alone in thinking that.)

Anyway! Tomorrow is gonna be a busy day. I’m going to Birmingham for free comic book day, so I’m hoping to get the Star Wars, Doctor Who and Pokémon ones (I might have to source the young Jedi one from elsewhere since I suspect we won’t get it). And cause it’s Star Wars day too I’m gonna see if there’s anything interesting to get. Plus we’re gonna go to see Episode I at the Odeon which'll be nice to see on the big screen again. I hope they’ll be the Acotyte thing too though I’m not sure.

Then when we get back it’ll be time to watch MCC and this time I’ll be watching Seapeekay’s stream to see how they do (and hopefully fic some, I’ve not had the focus lately and it’s annoying).

And speaking of annoying I tried to sort the phone mum picked up last year (and never touched) and it’s a nightmare. The only reason I’m bothering is because twitch verification is being a bitch and needing a mobile to text a code to and it’s just ugh. It doesn’t wanna detect the SIM card I got and the instructions are no help. It makes me wanna throw it at the wall. Mobiles are the one technology I don’t get they’re so.. ugh (I don’t suppose any uk person would be willing to help?)

Anyway I’m gonna try and bundle up soon but no doubt fail.
shadowhive: (Klaus :O)
So my mindset is starting to get a letter better, which feels good.

Slime story plushies that I ordered during slimes charity stream came fast, I did them after midnight Thursday and they arrived Saturday which was so surprising. They’re so cute and the moss slime is so soft and snuggly.

Speaking of soft and snuggly Midna has continued to be snuggly in the day (and night, she’s currently curled up against my leg) while Leia has been snuggly when I go to bed. Maybe Leia sensed my mindset and decided to be snuggly (Midna’s been consistently snuggly for awhile)

I have been watching and also playing things so under the cut is gonna be my thoughts on a few things. (TUA season 3 ep 1, Primeval, Talk To Me).

As well as watching things I’ve gamed a little. I’ve been on goat sim 3 on game pass, which is so funny and unserious. There’s been some wild stuff so far, like weird invading aliens (or robots), a giant tentacle creature and a quest from a hobbit house (called dilbo’s quest)

I finally went back on Zelda on Sunday too and… I have not continued any of the quests at all. I’ve just been exploring the depths and doing lightroots. I did intend on doing the main questline but I just got distracted by doing that and for what? I did save at lookout landing so next time i go on I will continue the quest… or get distracted again.

Then tonight I started Prince Of Persia The Lost Crown, doing the first level. And damn, why’s Sargon (the player character) hot? And was the prince flirting with him? Im gonna go on it more sometime but I dunno when.

But I’ve also got sidetracked by raid shadow legends cause of Seapeekay doing a sponsorship so I’ve been trying to do the quests for it (at least the ones that are doable for free) and I’m at level 32 after a week. Damnit.

Anyway here ends the post. I might try and fic some more before bed but we’ll see. Then who knows what this week holds? I’ve gotta pick up mums meds but it depends on the weather which I has been pretty dicey. But other than that? I dunno.
shadowhive: (Leela Friend of the Doctor)
The past few days have continued to feel low energy which is so, ugh. Ah well.

Anyway post time! (I still need to post the monthly roundups and need to finish fic but alas)

The weather hasn’t been great the last few days, with rain coming randomly and hard which has meant we’ve not taken Naryu for walks some days. The worst rain was probably Monday, after the last post I made. About an hour after it I heard loud card screeching from outside. At first I thought it might be Leia (or someone else) sheltering in the garage but no. So I ventured outside and saw there was a little cat out there, crying up a storm.

I’ve seen him around before and whenever I’ve seen him he’s always been skittish, running off right away. I knew he lived in one of the houses nearby but I wasn’t sure which one and they were all in darkness anyway. So I went back inside, grabbed a little tray and put him some of the girls food, which he seemed to appreciate, even letting me pet him. I put it down under the car he was sheltering under then went back in. (I did consider trying to get him in the garage, but I think trying would’ve stressed him out). I went to check later and he’d ate all the food and let me pet him, then as I was heading back in I saw one of the doors open and him running inside. So I’m glad he’s safe but I dunno how they missed him making that noise (especially cause he was quite far from us when he was making it)

Other than that things have been uneventful, other than mum stressing me out (I wish I knew how to block eBay on her kindle because she keeps looking at this jewellery and stressing me out over it) which has been… ugh.

But I did watch the next Who (thoughts soon) and I randomly decided to start a game pass game called Gris. I saw Eret play some of it so when it came up on game pass I downloaded it but I didn’t play it right away. It’s a game that’s incredibly pretty (just look at the screencaps on steam). It’s kinda like a platform, but it’s also colour based and there’s puzzles. I feel that there’s a lot of things I’ve missed because there’s things that seem to be very specific to do. (And there are som odd choices when the camera pulls back making it hard to see.) but overall I’m enjoying it. I think it’s something I can finish over the weekend (depending on time) and hopefully it’ll help me get back into the grove gaming.

But yeah it is very pretty.

(Although boo the Xbox controller charging thing acted up so I had to order one, which at least came fast so)

I’ve also tried to organise things. The big hello fresh box is now filled with some of the potter Lego (cause I can’t stand having it around for obvious reasons) and I started sorting the Dungeons And Dragons Adventurer issues I have. The dice and the art inside are so pretty though I wish I’d be able to do something with the stuff in them, but I guess we’ll see.

Anyway Who thoughts now. The next ep in the season 15 was The Sun Makers.

It’s a strange ep, because the title implies the sun making would be a major feature and yet it’s something that’s barely touched upon. In fact the concept of the suns themselves feels odd, even unnecessary given the setting. (Short version every ‘megropolis’ has its own ‘sun’, yet most people aren’t even allowed to see it so wouldn’t why bother making them?)

It’s easy to see why it’s Leela’s actress’s favourite story because she does get a lot to do (and has some awesome lines, both to the revolutionaries and to the company people that capture her later). I really love how badass she is in this, it’s one of my fav parts because she’s just so awesome.

But the ep did make me think of Vengeance On Varos (I mean it even has a televised public execution!) and the dystopian vibes are a little depressing, with the company (what do they even make?) being in complete control and exploiting everyone and even the revolutionaries at the start weren’t… the best people. But at least the Doctor inspires them to actually act to free their people from the company so at least it ends on a more positive note. And aww K9 wags his tail throughout which is cute.

Overall though it’s probably my least fav ep of the season so far, but that’s down to the concept itself not the people in it (because everyone does act really well in it, even the kinda over the top villains)

Next is Underworld, an ep I remember nothing about but is apparently… not the best. But someone must like it because the game Lost In Time has a ‘waypoint’ set on a ship from the ep which feels strange. (Compare to some of the other waypoints: Skaro, Gallifrey, The UNIT lab and it’s clear how odd it is)

This weekend mum’s friend is coming so I hope I don’t have to rush to town again (ugh), but otherwise it’s the last No Dice ep and I hope to finish Gris, The Sun Makers special features and finish this fic I’m working on. Let’s see if any get done!
shadowhive: (Eret Take my hand)
So the past few days have been a big drain between stress, headache and depression/anxiety which all feels like it’s feeding into each other which is exhausting. So I haven’t got round to finishing snowflake or done much of anything.

However [personal profile] turps posted about this meme so I’m gonna do so it’s a drive by thing of good recent things cause who knows if I’ll have focus again to talk about these things individually.

You could say technically the first post for this was the recent song Saturday but I didn’t think to include it oop.

First is something I mentioned in a recent post, the new Magic Arena set came out. It’s a game I love and I feel it works best doing it digitally (so you don’t have to worry about finding people in real life and cause it does all the things automatically/prompts you for things you’d forget). I’d say the only downside has been it skipped the recent Doctor Who stuff but I hope they come cause they look awesome.

Anyway the new set is called Murders At Karlov Manor and it’s a murder mystery type deal. They’re been doing a special Claudio set based on ti which is cool. I’m liking the new mechanics and stuff, though as with all new stuff it’s a bit tricky to get used to. But look! The set mastery thing has a lil mile friend! They’re so cute! And I love how some of the cards are mystery tropes too (there’s even a card called Red Herring).

I probably shoulda posted this in the recent post, but ahh! Sleep Token ticket confirmation! It’s still wild that I’m seeing them (their last album, Take Me Back To Eden, is so awesome) though I admit nerves are setting in since it’s my first arena gig in years and I know it’ll be crazy and expensive and peoplely ugh. But it’ll hopefully be worth it.

There is an advantage to my eyes aching and that’s that it means I listen to audio stuff more. First off over past few days (well just over a week) I’ve listened to this. Eighth Of March is a boxset that was done for International Women’s Day a few years back. The four audios are naturally focussed on female characters, though the only connection is that they’re set on Eighth Of March but in various times and places.

Since there’s nothing connecting them, they’re all very different but I found I enjoyed them all and it’s tricky to pick which one was my favourite. The first story, Emancipation, has River and Leela together which somehow works really well. I’ve not listened to any of the River Song audios (despite having some from Humble Bundle and a previous freebie) but that makes me curious. The second, The Big Blue Book, has Benny and Ace. Beeny’s an audio only character and I’d not heard her before but, again, this has made me curious. They really bounced off each other really well.

Third is Inside Every Warrior, which was with The Paternoster Gang of Jenny, Strax and Vastra. Apparently it was the first one done with the three of them which was a surprise but they work so well together as always. Though again it makes me sad they’ve not been on screen in so long. Lastly was Narcissus which was a UNIT story, with Kate and the Osgoods which I think worked really well too. It was the first one I’ve heard that’s featured the double Osgood too so it makes me curious about the audio UNIT’s timeline. (I’ve tried to keep thoughts general so I don’t reveal plot spoilers for the eps in case anyone wants to listen)

I also finished The Tenth Doctor Volume 3 at last, I think it took me so long to listen to the last one, The Creeping Death, cause it was the least interesting from the description but actually I really enjoyed it and one of the last scenes was crazy. I love how easily the Doctor and Donna are with each other, they really are so great together. And also it’s wild that the setting was a thing that happened. Like what do you mean there was a smog cloud so sever in London it killed people?

Speaking of finishing things, I finished Super Mario Wonder at last. I got it for my birthday (cause it came out the same day)and it was a lot of fun! Though cause of various things it’s took me awhile. When I came back to it the other week I realised I only had two main worlds to do and Bowser’s castle so I’ve took this week to do them all. I didn’t expect to do Bowser’s castle yesterday but I ended up doing that thing of ‘one more level’ about three times and then finished it. So all I have left is a few levels I missed and the bonus world.

Over all though? I really enjoyed it! It’s definitely a lot of fun. And if you’ve enjoyed 2D Mario before I think you’ll like this. I loved that this was in a completely new and different place as well, outside the mushroom kingdom and the poplin natives are so cute.

The game also has a new gimmick where each level has a wonder seed, which changes the way the level is played. I was a bit dubious about it at first, but actually they’re really fun! And you never know what you’re gonna get with them. One world can have a wonder seed which makes all the enemies sing (which is so cut!) another can change the level to a top down view, another can turn you into an enemy or a spiked ball. They’re all pretty inventive and they are really fun. I think the only thing I’ve not liked so much is the badge challenge stages cause some of them can feel needlessly hard.

I was gonna do a few more little things but I think that’s enough for now and my head is getting more achy again so I’m gonna end it there and maybe do those last things another day.
shadowhive: (Blau Santa)
It’s the Friday before christmas and I dunno if anyone else feels like this, but it doesn’t feel like christmas at all. Like, it feels like there should be at least another or something before it not that it’s in a few days.

I know for me it might be due to the anxiety and uni stress. But I dunno, is it a general feeling?

The past few days my head ahas been a bit achy which has made my eyes feel funny in the nights which has been so irritating. I’ve wanted to work on stuff and game but my head’s not had the best focus which has been annoying. Bleh.

On the plus side it’s emant I listened to some Who audios. I listened to the Isos Network on bbc sounds which was the first second Doctor audio I’ve heard. I was so surprised by how good the person voicing the second Doctor was, and was surprised when I saw the cast list that it was Frazer Hines (who was also voicing Jamie) which was such a surprise. It was also a little strange as him and Wendy Padbury (the voice of Zoe) also did narration which I’ve not heard in other ones. I’m not sure what I feel about that, cause it does set scenes but took a bit of getting used to.

I also listened to one of the Paternoster Gang audios last night and I felt so hard for Madame Vastra. Her commentary on the human race and how it deals with those that are different, was sadly spot on and feels even more true now. Sadly. I might put on the next one later.

I did manage to game some yesterday. Baldur’s Gate downloaded but a patch came out yesterday so I couldn’t play right away. So in the afternoon I ended up finally going back in Jedi Survivor. I didn’t do much but I did get off Coruscant (the last thing I did was landing on Koboh) so I’m excited to get back.

I did manage to do some on Baldur’s Gate last night and I spent half an hour on character creation making my character, a Drow Bard called Callum (my in game names are often a sign of whatever fixation I have so make of of that what you will). He looks so cool and I’m excited to do more. He even has vicious mockery which I remember Maxx using when he did dnd! I did a bit of the game on the ship, and I ended just after waking Shadowheart.

(I just got an Astarion tee from qwertee, despite not meeting him yet oop)

Today I had a delivery, missing parts from the advent calendar and the dungeons and dragons magazine thing I got from the Black Friday offer. So now I have doubles of the first two issues and the dice. Oop.

I also did some iconning but then the laptop needed yet another update (thats four now!) which ugh! Is anyone good at getting screencaps though? I need to get some for icons but I’m hopeless.

Tomorrow I’m gonna be going out insanely early to pick up a food order and do a food shop which I know is gonna be exhausting and stressful. Ugh. I hope I’ll be able to rest when I get back and work on stuff but ughh. I fully expect I’ll just flop, eat my veggie sushi and watch the dickens stuff on sky arts.

I hope everyone has a nice christmas/yule/new year (and any other celebrations too) I hope everyone has a nice time and gets to rest.

I’m ending this post with Eret pics, because I can and because she looks hot.

shadowhive: (Ranboo Lightsaber pole)
Time for another post, that’s gonna be all over the place as is often. The case.

The uni assessment has been such an annoyance. My brain has struggled with it, which hasn’t been helped by the uni site being slow, or the laptop deciding it must update right now (twice!). I finally got a handle on one of the main questions for it today and then it decided the second of the updates was today. I say second, nits actually the third time the laptop has updated in the past week which was an annoyance. (The third time was just after dnd which was probably why it acted up a bit.)

Seapeekay has had a HelloFresh promo code thing on the past few streams so I decided to use it last week and the first box arrived Friday (despite it ending up at the wrong house again). We did one of the recipes then and it turned out pretty good, so we will try the other two this week (though do wish I’d looked more at one as it says to use a frying pan which we can’t use). I’ve not got another coming for awhile causa Christmas and new year meaning there wouldn’t be the space so we’ll see.

But! I do have a promo code that they sent if anyone wants to use it: HS-U9TUNBUG4. That’s a general one and there’s also a few one time use ones as well. So if anyone wants to try it or anything.

I did more Devil In Me cause I knew Ranboo was wanting to do it on the subathon. I thought they were gonna do the other dark pictures games first though, but they just did that one so it ended up being a bit of a rush. However I loved it, I think it’s easily my fav of season 1. They nailed the horror movie atmosphere and the whole thing was just… I got chills. And I loved so many of the ideas (and there was a dog which lived!). Most of the crew survived (only one died in a trap that was hard to figure out and seemed doomed to kill one) so I did pretty well. The next one is set in space! And looks so cool though there’s no dates or anything.

Speaking of the Ranboo subathons I’ve been watching it on and off and parts have been good but parts I lost focus on (especially the first night and Omori, which I was tired and I feel is a game you need more focus to get). However my fav day was easily Friday, with the one shot they did with Slimecicle, Cellbit and Aimsey which was a wild mystery on a train. It was Ranboo’s first time dming and they threw it together pretty quick but they did such a great job with it. They’ve mentioned doing one a month next year so I hope they do cause it was fun!

Saturday we ended up heading out and it ended up being so tiring. We only went to get a few bits and cheese and it feels like we overspent and I’m not sure on what. I did get something I wanted from TK Maxx, a green shell light and also a giant axolotl which is cute too.but yeah it was draining and tiring which felt like a thing I didn’t need.

I didn’t really watch strictly as a result, but I was surprised Layton didn’t win. Then I ended up watching the next The Lost tapes (which had a double elimination) and was pretty fun though my focus wasn’t there. Then I watched some of Hasan’s stream which felt like a hallucination cause him and Blau were pole dancing. Blau was so good with the spins that I know I have to do something with it.

Yesterday I watched Poirot, so there’s only one left, then there was Dungeons And Dodongos which was fun. It was a side quest ranch episode which was low stakes (finding cuccos) but so fun. Ahno got to ride a horse (and did pretty well) and got a nat 20 in combat (a first I think) and there was also some hilarious cucco worshippers! It’s a shame there’s not more for awhile cause it has been fun.

Also yesterday was episode 2 of a documentary about Arthur Conan Doyle called Killing Sherlock and it was a bit wild cause part of it was about events here! In fact some was even filmed at the church I used to pass on the way to school, which I didn’t know happened. It was a bit surreal seeing somewhere here on tv.

This weeks plans are to:
*send the cards (which yeah, late oop)
*finish uni
*sort mums presents
*do monthly round up and updated streamer post/twitchcon one
*go through Radio times and sort what we’ve gonna watch
*watch some of purgatory to see how Seapeekay does
*disc switch to Jedi survivor and try and go on that
*go on Dead By Daylight and Dreamlight valley’s Christmas events
*fic some more

I’m sure I’m missing something but… ah well.

The past week has been a bit tiring and I feel a bit exhausted, but that’s mostly cause of setting the tree up this morning.

This week I finally started Devil In Me, which is the last of the dark pictures anthology season 1 games, I’d hoped to finish it over the week but various things meant I haven’t. It definitely has a different vibe to the others though. Firstly because it’s introduced a bunch of new mechanics, which I suspect will take some getting used to. The characters all now have special individual items which I suspect will come into play more as the game goes on and the party dwindles. Second the threat in this is not paranormal like the others, which gives it a different vibe (though that could change).

I still hope to finish it soon before the Ranboo subathon in a few days (where they’ll be playing it at some point)

On Wednesday we ended up going out to the outlet that opened last year and it’s a strange place. Like it’s nice enough, but it’s mostly fancy and clothes shops so there was nothing too interesting. I did have a bit of sensory overload in the first place we went to (the Lindt shop) which was so busy and loud and just… too much. (Although I think I may have seen Ellie Simmonds there, though didn’t say anything at the time cause I wasn’t sure and how busy it was) I got a few things for mum for Christmas, as well as few little bits of make up.

On the way back we stopped in town and looked in a few places before coming back and, fuck that was a nightmare. We got to the bus station and there was a queue at our stop, so we thought ‘great a bus is due we won’t have to wait long’ but then the bus that was meant to turn up didn’t. So we waited for the next one and it didn’t come either. By now it was cold and dark and I was getting panicky, so we ended up walking back. It was tiring and exhausting but we got to one of the later stops and decided to take a break in case it did show up,cause it was apparently due and it did turn up so we didn’t have to walk the whole way.

But fuck was it tiring and it wiped me out the next days as a result.

Thursday was mostly tiring, I had hoped to start my uni assessment in the morning but I was just too wiped to even contemplate it. There was some good news over the day though, as a new Doctor Who animation is coming. Predictably it’s for the Celestial Toymaker, which makes sense giving he’s coming back today, but the animation is a new style and looks kinda strange. I’m gonna give it a chance though, because the ep is mostly meant to be a hit trippy, so maybe it’s done in that style to emphasise it

Also Who related, but the Who magazine came Wednesday and it has a free audio and The Star Beast comic which is a fun addition, so I’m gonna read that at some point soon. (And speaking of magazines does anyone know where Kerrang and SFX are available? Smiths in town had neither which sucks and I’m not going to Birmingham anytime soon)

Thursday night was the game awards, which I stayed up to check out and, ugh. Like I dunno if anyone has seen it, but it felt extremely disrespectful. The name of the event is the game awards, and yet the awards themselves felt more like an inconvenience than the focus. Like some categories were read out in groups, without the people even being presented them. And when people were onstage they were quickly rushed to finish, which felt especially disrespectful when ones weren’t native English speakers.

And sure some of the trailers for games did look good, but I’d have much rather lose half of them so that the awards (which the show should be about!) are given a chance to shine. Ugh

At least Baldur’s Gate 3 is on Xbox now, and I might get it soon because ahhh. (Though I am gonna try and win it first)

Yesterday was a slow day, I meant to do uni stuff but of cause the laptop needed updates. And I’m so annoyed because I’m losing another morning next week too.

I did see Die Hard was on tv last night so I decided to watch so I could answer the age old question: is Die Hard a Christmas movie? After watching I’d say yes it is, while the film is not about Christmas it is set at Christmas, so it does count. The film could probably be set at another time though and be largely unchanged from what it is (the party could easily be moved to be new year).

Today I sorted the Christmas tree, which is annoying lugging it down and setting it up. It looks nice enough, though mum kept handing decorations when it was clearly full. I’m just gonna spend the day resting now until later where there’s Who and streaming (and I’m putting on Muppet Treasure Island soon just cause)

The rest of the weekend I wanna try and go on Devil In Me some more, and I wanna get the twitchcon pic dump finally done today or tomorrow. But that’s depending on streams/tiredness/anxiety levels.

Next week I wanna sort the Christmas cards out (so lemme know if you want one!), do the uni assessment (ugh) and there’s Ranboo’s subathon.

I feel I’ve missed something obvious I was gonna say, but I can include that in the next post.
