Day 16: Do you have a fandom that you follow - either regularly or casually - with little to no knowledge of canon?

There’s some shows that I watch and just… watch the show (or films) without getting too involved. But I do tend to have this thing where I get curious about things ep and end up looking up if something has a wiki for answers. (For example I’m a pretty casual potter fan, only watching the films, but when I do I sometimes look on the wiki to see if something isn’t mentioned in the films)

And then there’s also this thing that I call fandom osmosis, where I see people posting gifs or art from a thing and I’m all ‘ohh that’s really good!’ But I’ve not got into the fandom myself. Ones that come to mind for those are Genshin Impact and Sk8 infinity. I’ve got the later to watch, but the former is a game and I don’t have access to it till it comes on switch like it’s meant to (but it has pretties)

***

So yesterday was the Nintendo E3 direct and… hmm, I’m in two minds about it.

First there was some good announcements. There was a look at Mario golf, which looks cute and that, with the treehouse stream after makes me curious. I hope there’ll be a demo.

There’s a new Metroid game and, while I’ve not really played the series before it does look pretty good and I might be tempted to get it.

There was, as I predicted a new smash fighter… from tekken so I have zero familiarity with them. (And the choice of Gabon at the start of the trailer seemed to be a fake out).

There seems to be no big Zelda game collection like people thought for the anniversary. The first dlc for Hyrule warriors looks cool though and there was a trailer for Breath Of The Wild 2 which has a release for next year! It also makes sense why they decided to do the Skyward Sword remake next month, since it seems to feature the floating islands from it.

There were a few other things that looked like they might be interesting, like Danganropa but we’ll see.

What puzzled me though was the two glaring omissions from it. First, there was nothing about Pokemon, even though it’s one of the big games coming out on the switch this year, this makes me think there might be a dedicated Pokemon direct coming sometime soon.

There also wasn’t anything about Animal Crossing which is a surprise. I mean I’m not sure if I did expect anything, but considering it was a huge game for Nintendo this last year they could have acknowledged that, or at least said ‘more updates are coming soon’. But nope. That’s not to say there’s nothing coming, like I said there was nothing about Pokemon either and we know that’s coming, but still it was… strange.

And speaking of E3, capcom had a thing on Monday and… Herlock Sholmes is real? I thought that was a meme, but no he’s an actual thing.

There’s a bunch of ID@xbox demos and I downloaded a few last night, intending to give some a try but I just… crashed last night. Which was annoying.

Today I went to get meds and I stopped off in sainsburys to look for something mum wanted (a skirt which was there) and I got some of the Lego dots bracelets as well as the new Doctor Who special and one of the new potter sets which is sweet.

I’m gonna watch Loki sometime today (maybe this afternoon but going down there in the heat has made me feel tired) and hopefully go on the demos tonight.

So I’m gonna do all these June Something questions together.

Watch this video (or just read the lyrics). What pairing does this song remind you of and why?

So I was gonna watch the the video but haven’t found the time. I’m not sure but my first instinct was Klaus and Diego, because I dunno, it somehow resonates

When it comes to writing or art, what is your source for ideas/inspiration? Do you just brainstorm? Rely on talking to others? Workshop? Or do you hang out in prompting communities?

It really does depend. Sometimes I’ll just... get an idea. It can come from something I’ve watched or a song or something like that. In the MCR discord I run there was plenty of ideas bounced around the people there and they inspired me to write things based on them. Unfortunately though, things have gone pretty quiet there now so that’s gone. But that’s one thing I’ve always liked to do, write something with a specific person in mind so that at least one person I know will like it.

I’ve always been, well, nervous, about ficcing and having someone I know will read it really helps.

Final bonus question that you can throw into any of the above questions as an extension: What is something you would love to read in a fandom, but haven't found yet?

Well I think I’ve mentioned some of the things I’d like to see. Bullet For My Valentine fic. Ray Toro fic. Scat. Cock cages. Stuff focussing on Ray’s thighs.More stuff with Welsh bands or Claudio from Coheed. Or Ilan.

I dunno why but my mind is a bit blank on other specific things. I’m sure I could come up with something more if I think on it though,
shadowhive: (Thor Eyepatch)
I’m so glad I’m not in London right now. It looks like a bunch of thuggish racists have come out to play. I hope everyone stays safe.

I watched the rest of the Download thing last night. Motionless was still the best and it was disappointing that BVB only had one song. Tonight I’m watching only till Funeral For A Friend and then I’m switching to the isle of wright one for Queen and Adam Lambert. (And then Deliver Us The Moon since I got distracted by a monterey bay stream last night.)

Today I went to the co-op for the first time in weeks. It was strange because it largely seemed normal. (Bar the lack of flour.) I was the only one there in a mask (which came yesterday). It was a bit warm under it from my breath which was annoying but that might be cause I was walking the pup.

I just watched infinity War cause mum mentioned wanting to watch the one with the guardians. It’s still pretty good though so sad. We might watch Endgame tomorrow so I’ll see if my eh thoughts on it still stand.

What is something you think fandom, as a whole, needs? Either literally, like a service, or figuratively, like a 'head slap'?

I think all fandoms need that head slap, things are becoming so toxic in so many of them. I hate seeing the hate and bullying. People need to learn to stay in there lanes and leave people alone.

An extension of that is minors. I think minors shouldn’t be engaging in fandom. I know that’s an unpopular notion, but one look at places like twitter and tumblr and you can see why I think that. Minors are thinking it’s ok to harass people. Or that they push their way into fandom spaces not for them. Or they lie about their ages, engage with adults and then ‘call out’ said adults that they’ve deceived. It’s tiresome and it’s awful and I just can’t stand them. So sorry, unless that is a fandom for minors, minors should not be engaging in it.

Another thing I think fandom needs and I think I’ve mentioned it before, is a proper community space. AO3 is great as a fic hosting site but that’s all it is. There’s no real defined community space. That is to say places where people can interact, share prompts and recs and pics. It feels that communities are too scattered at the moment and it would be nice if there was something like that (discord can be good for that but it can also be closed off and some people don’t want to download a whole new app for it).

Lastly I’d love idreamwidth more active, like livejournal used to be.
shadowhive: (Ben/Klaus What?)
So I missed posting yesterday but I’ll get to that later. Wednesday Night after watching the usual stuff I was thinking of watching a film on Film4 The Square, but it was three hours with ads and I wasn’t sure I’d be ok with that. So instead I started a game on Xbox (cause it was the game pass quest) Deliver Us The Moon.

It’s an exploration game where you’re trying to find out what happened on (as the name implies) the moon. Turns out most of the earth’s power supply was from the moon and Something went wrong but it’s took years to send a mission, it’s intriguing so far and I’ve only just got to the moon (first was taking off, then the first stop was a space station). I meant to go on it last night but.... we’ll get to that.

I had hoped these past few mornings to start listening to my Big Finish Humble Bundle on my laptop but that hasn’t happened at all. Maybe causa the exam draining me, maybe cause it means opening the laptop. Listening to the Magnus archives requires minimal movement on my part since it’s straight from my pad but even then I’ve only listened to one a day. (It does seem it’s a good job I’ve not tried to do that, because there’s been a big laptop update with ih Ugh... I’m glad it wasn’t there Monday.)

Speaking of bundles there is a bundle of games on itch.io for racial equality. They’re all for the pc and the minimum donation is $5 and for that you get....over 1500 things. Which is so many and there’s no way you can go through them all but it’s for a good cause. I’m gonna try and download a few and play the shorter ones some mornings.

So yesterday I had a delivery from amazon which was left on the doorstep (in a bag cause it was raining). One thing that came was a Star Wars book Queen’s Peril which is about Padme (which was unexpected cause the debate kept changing and I only had an email it was coming the morning it came). The other was a Lego set I got in the sale, Wrecking Ball from Overwatch. Since it was raining I ended up building it up and... ugh.

I was using a bowl to store the bits in and I knocked it, sending the pieces flying which meant I had to hunt them down before continuing. One is still missing, a red piece that keeps a panel in place, which sucks. Still though, he looks pretty cool despite that.

I actually managed some reading yesterday afternoon and read two chapters of Black Spire. I’m hoping to read more now uni is done because I have so. Many. Books. To read. I’ve been so bad at reading (to give a hint I started Black Spire in autumn but it got too dark). I’m hoping to read the Night Vale novel after it and then... I’m not sure.

But speaking of books they announced a new Star Wars one yesterday. A certain point of view book for Empire. I loved the first one they did for A New Hope and hoped they’d do one for other films. (The first one was 40 writers doing short stories for characters during the events of the film, from the captain of the Tantive IV to Lando.) there’s no date I’ve seen but I’m looking forward to it.

After the usual Thursday tv (including Magnum PI), I ended up going really drained. I ended up drifting off before midnight which is just so... odd. I dunno what it is, maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s that my mood is odd I dunno.

Today I’m hoping to read more Black Spire and watch some of the online Download stuff. And then maybe go on Delivery Us The Moon tonight.

To end, the June Something.

How open are you about being in fandom to your non-fandom friends/family?

Well pretty much everyone I know is part of fandom in some form or other. Mum knows I’m into shows and stuff and she knows I’m part of The Umbrella Academy and Animal Crossing discord’s but I don’t think I’ve ever discussed writing with her (and I certainly wouldn’t discuss content with her).

What is something you consider headcanon that was never truly resolved in canon?

The one that comes to mind is Finn and Poe. Clearly there is a thing there, certainly on Poe’s side, but it was never explored or resolved in the films (I mean they spent most of The Last Jedi apart and Rise Of Skywalker it was all about the mission so there was no room for them to breathe, though they shoulda kissed at the end).

I’m sure there’s more but I can’t think of anything else now,

I’m heading off to walk the pup now. Hopefully it stays dry,
shadowhive: (Adam Gloves)
Today hasn’t been too exciting. I was too snuggled to listen to anything in the morning alas. But I did get close to the lil geese when I walked the pup.

I meant to read some of my book but alas, nope. Mainly cause I got distracted by fic.

Last night I did watch all the robots of death special features though, yay!

Today’s June Something

Besides deathfic, rape/non-con, what is something that, no matter the pairing, you nope out of when it comes to reading?

Memory loss/amnesia. I don’t read fic on it and for good reason. My Nan has Alzheimer’s, so I saw first hand a person that I loved forget who they are, until she became unresponsive. It’s not something I want to be reminded of, so I generally avoid things with things of that nature.

Animal abuse is another thing I generally avoid because... no.
shadowhive: (Maxx Pretty)
Last night I managed to watch Killing Eve, Batwoman and then the Palaye stream but I was kinda at a loss as to what to do after that. I settled on finishing Blood Machines which was... odd. It was very much one of those things that I sat back and thought ‘wtf did I just watch?’

I ended up going to bed after that.

This morning I ended up waking up really early... but I misread the time and booted up the laptop. Instead of just resting some more I decided to get the uni exam started. So I was done before 10. I think it went ok, but we’ll see how it goes. I’m glad it’s over cause it means I can rest now. (Until I look into what the next course is gonna be)

Since I was on the laptop I moved the humble bundle doctor who stuff to a separate folder so I’m gonna try and listen to the audios sometime soon. At last.

Since I was finished early I ended up having a doze. After walking the pup I did the the daily Animal Crossing stuff and then had a snuggle and watched tv.

Tonight I’m gonna watch Robots Of Death unless there’s a Monterey bay stream. Robots is one of my favourite old Who eps so I’m looking forward to seeing it again,

Now June something which is under the cut this time since it’s a nsfw question,

shadowhive: (Duncan Topless)
Last night I didn’t sleep right away! I actually managed to watch some things, woo!

I watched the Baywatch film on Film4 and it was pretty good. It was fun and silly, but it was enjoyable. Plus it meant Zac Efron got topless and wet. After that I watched Maxx’s stream, then I caught up on a killing Eve and Batwoman from last week. It’s the last Killing Eve tonight and I’m not sure how it’ll go but I hope we get answers.

This morning I booted my laptop up, so it’s ready for tomorrow. Thankfully it didn’t need an update like it usually seems to. I started Magnus Archives season 4 which I’ll have on in the coming mornings.

After lunch I put on the Heffalump movie on Film4 causa Tigger’s movie last week but I forgot that it’s one of the weaker films even though the actual Heffalump is cute. I had a doze instead of watching something else Nd then, while Blood and Treasure was on, I sorted my Star Wars Black Series shelf. I dunno why but I got a sudden urge to sort it out, since last time a bunch of the figures fell over. Thankfully nothing like that happened this time (it ends up being a domino effect when it does).

Now I’m just watching tv and maybe watching the Palaye stream later.

Tomorrow is my exam thing and... I don’t feel ready but eh. At least I don’t have to go anywhere and we can use the books. I’m gonna do it in the morning and then rest.

[personal profile] pushkin666 is awesome for doing this yay Ray porn!

Lastly it’s the June something question for the day.

What is your favorite celebrity interaction from any fandom you've had?

My issue with celebrity interactions is that I get nervous and shy. This has been the case for most of them, where I can’t get my words out, so I’m not gonna use those. Well actually I’ll use one. I went to a Duncan James signing when he did solo stuff and he commented on my lip ring, asking if it hurt. It’s a small thing but I remember it.

The second was a few years ago. I went to a Star Trek convention in London. My friend got me a ticket (my ex) and it was around my birthday. So I had money and got three signatures. I got John De Lancie (Q), Kate Mulgrew (Janeway) and Nana Visitor (Kira). Nana was the most memorable, she was so sweet and when I said my friend got me ticket she said how nice it was. I got a picture took with her by the security guy... which I found out on my way home hadn’t actually been taken, which sucks.

The last one was at Star Wars Celebration in London a few years ago. It was my first time going to one and I was really excited, but I was also sad. I’d hoped to get an autograph of one of the big names there, especially Carrie Fisher (this wasn't long before she died) but alas the prices were eye watering and I just couldn’t afford them. I still had a fun time, I went to lots of talks which were really entertaining and fun and I got a few things. (perhaps the best talk was the Clone Wars one where I got to see some episodes before they came out, which was awesome. It was season 3 I think?) The only trouble with the whole thing was that it was REALLY hot and also I almost my pass on the second day so I couldn’t go on the Sunday (I asked for a replacement as a keepsake but never got one).

Anyway, I did manage to get two autographs from it. The first was from Jason Fry who writes some of the Star Wars books. He signed my incredible cross sections book and he was so nice. We talked about books and I told him how much I enjoyed his recent ones (and how much I loved the cross sections). The second was Daniel Logan, who plays young Boba Fett. He was my first Star Wars actor I’d met and I was nervous but he was so friendly and nice! I even got a picture with him, that I still use as my twitter pic. I saw him at a Fett panel later in the day and he was so good in it.

Actually I’m gonna add one more too to this. So in November I went to comic con here and I saw Taylor Grey who plays Ezra in Rebels. He was so nice and he was really taking his time to talk with every single person. We ended up talking about the Mandalorian and about Vanessa Marshall (Hera, who was meant to be there but she was in hospital). it was really nice how he took the time to make that connection with people.

Anyway that’s enough from me. I hope everyone has a nice night.
shadowhive: (The Child Soup)
So I’ve not done a photo post for awhile, so I’m gonna do one now. Prepare for some cute animals and a few random things. I need to take pics of Naryu for next time but it’s been so dark.

Now that’s done last night was uneventful. I watched Maxx’s stream instead of watching stuff again, damnit. Though I did do some Overwatch which I suppose is something.

We should be heading out soon and then I’m hoping to watch something on Disney plus or the thing on Pompeii that was on channel 5. (And I might watch Baywatch tonight before catching up on stuff)

Now the latest June Something.

What is something that has surprised you about a fandom? Like, you expected the main fandom pairing to be X/Y, but the main pairing in fandom is actually X/Z. Or a pairing you expected to be slashed together isn't very popular?

Well what surprises most lately is how toxic fandoms have become lately. This is partly because of the cancel culture and rampant bullying and harassment. What surprises me is that the fandoms doing this (from Star Trek and Star Wars to MCR) often have come messages of inclusion and anti-bullying. I don’t understand how people could claim to like those things and come away thinking that behaviour is acceptable. (And don’t get me started on people that think fandoms should be apolitical and then liking fandoms that... are)

On another note. The MCR fandom is one fandom that has become... hyper focussed on one pairing. If you go on ao3 the mcr tag is pretty much all Frank/Gerard with other pairings relegated to side pairings. It sucks because in the lj days there was a nice diversity but now it feels it’s all gone. And also Ray gets shafted so much (and not in the good way). It’s so disappointing.

Another disappointment is the Welsh fandoms. There’s no Bullet For My Valentine content out there that’s not either done or caused by me which is sad. The Blackout and a Funeral For A Friend also had no content. It’s sad. I think one issue with AO3 is that big fandoms (ie Supernatural) have no trouble getting content but the smaller ones? It’s hard to generate interest, there’s no space to encourage people to get into stuff so they stay small.

I think something that always surprises me is I tend to get into the people that have the least content for them and it just makes me sad. (Or I’m into kinks that get no attention)

Though what surprised me, in a good way, with a The Umbrella Academy is how much Diego/Klaus came out of it, so much that I’ve very much lost track and hope to get back into reading it once uni is done.
shadowhive: (Kobra Sunlight dies)
Last night I watched Magnum PI which I really enjoyed. Not least cause Magnum had a scene in just a towel, unf. I feel I’m gonna enjoy it. (It does make me wanna watch Hostel though cause Magnum was in that. I’ve not watched it in ages though.)

I didn’t game or watch stuff like I hoped because, again, I got tired.

I got some mail this morning. A box of stuff from the zoom day sale (Vice Admiral Holdo, the new Judoon captain and a little Harry Potter light) but also an unexpected package from [personal profile] turlough that included socks and a lil card
,

I’m blah today, but that’s my own fault. Curse my urge to reach out. I hoped walking th ep up would help clear my head but it rained.... and then went sunny once we decided not to go out and have lunch. Blah. Let’s see if June something will cheer me up.

You get to fuck/marry/kill in one fandom. What's the fandom, and who in the fandom fits each item?

The question says one but I’m gonna do multiple. How many will I do? Well we’ll see.

The Umbrella Academy: F: Klaus, M: Diego, K: Luther

My Chemical Romance: F: The Ways (they’re a set ok?), M: Ray, K: Frank

Star Wars ST: F: Poe, M: Finn, K: Hux

MCU: F: Loki, M: Thor, K: Thanos

Ok that wasn’t as many as i thought I’d do but..l eh.

Just sleep

Jun. 4th, 2020 06:12 pm
shadowhive: (Cisco Vibe)
Yesterday was uneventful really. I ended up sleeping early last night. Today was revision in the morning and I read some Black Spire in the afternoon before dozing. (I hope to read more tomorrow too)

I’m gonna spend the night watching stuff like Springwatch, which I hope has something nice like the the rock pool thing and there’s gonna be the new Magnum PI on Pick. The new Magnum looks hot. *smushes him, Diego and Torres from a NCIS together* (Which I can do with Torres at least since some odd reason it shares the universe with NCIS so...) [Did you know that Macguyver and Hawaii 5-0 is part of it too?]

It’s been raining more today which is nice too.

Anyway June something now

If you were introducing your favorite fandom to someone new, what one episode would you make them sit down and watch?

This is an interesting question, but it’s tricky. The thing is, a lot of my fav fandoms (at least currently) are basically one story spread over x amount of eps. As a result dropping someone in them other than the start would result in confusion. So with The Umbrella Academy and Picard, for example, I’d say that the best thing is to watch them from the start. Same with The Hollow too.

So I’m trying to think of a fandom that I can use that doesn’t fit that format. For some reason the one that comes to mind is The X-Files and the ep is Bad Blood. Mostly cause it’s a fairly fun episode, showing the same scenario from both Mulder and Scully’s (I love episodes that do that, albeit this is one where it’s not an accurate representation)

Sweet rain!

Jun. 3rd, 2020 01:34 pm
shadowhive: (Ash Team Rocket)
Last night I watched the Who special features and then I went really tired. I really wish I was able to get back to gaming and watching more stuff. Hopefully tonight.

I did, however, start my fandom for oz fic. It’s only a few paragraphs but... it’s something. We’ll see how it goes.

It’s raining today, hurrah! I hope it rains heavier because we need it. It’s meant it’s nice and cool now which is good. I also had a delivery this morning of some of the qwertees I got from the sale and I ordered the Pokemon season pass. There was a new trailer yesterday but it didn’t give too much info. But there’s a Galarian Slowbro!

Today’s June something post now.

Who is the first character that you fell in love with?

I’m sure there’s someone earlier than this from when I was really small. But I’m gonna say Jesse and James from Pokemon. I love them so much, they’re so funny and so useless (yet always come up with weird new contraptions). And I love their outfits and disguises. James always looks so good in dresses and skirts (I think he was one of my earliest guy crushes too when I was starting to figure myself out).

I should really watch more Pokemon.

I’m gonna snuggle and have noms, then go on Animal Crossing and, hopefully, read
shadowhive: (4th Doctor Jelly Baby)
So yesterday I made three shortish posts. Today I’m only gonna make one but it’s gonna be long.

Well, things in America are.... insane. It feels like things are getting much worse and it’s honestly scary. I’m so glad I’m not over there because I know I’d be paralysed with anxiety. It’s bad enough watching it unfold from the sidelines being involved would be... I couldn’t do it. I just couldn’t function.

MCR twitter is being bitchy again, this time about... MCR themselves. Because they aren’t doing enough or saying the right things. Listen, I think Gerard could have done more than use the blank screen on insta, but we know he has a mental illness and that can be paralysing. I just hate how vicious people are.

And then there’s Palaye who have suspended press for the new album and are actually out there in the protests. I hope they stay safe but that’s pretty badass, Maxx from Set It Off did a charity stream and it was crazy seeing him get notifications of the curfew changing. It really is so scary.

Of course it’s not helped by having idiots in power and the police being more and more thuggish. I just... hope everyone stays safe.

I’m gonna be on twitter less, or try to, because it’s all so overwhelming and will burn me out.

Anyway.

Yesterday was a food shop which was exhausting. There was also Animal Crossing which involved the new Wedding Event (kinda cute) and CJ (which led to me getting most of the new fish).

This morning I had a visitor in the form of Leia. She doesn’t usually come for day time cuddles despite me telling her (when she comes at night) that she can. It was sweet. I then put on new night vale, before doing some revision stuff. The exam thing is next Monday which is another reason I’m not wanting to get burned out.

We just got back from the walk and the geese are growing! They’re less fuzzy but one has gone. I dunno how cause they’re quite big but I guess it explains why they’ve been on the island lately. I’ll try and get pics tomorrow. There’s a lot of really big fish at the surface of the water due to the heat. I dunno if I could get pics but they look like AC fish shadows.

And now the June something for today

You're stuck in quarantine with two people from different fandoms. Who are they, and who "breaks" first?

This is an interesting question. The first choice was easy. Klaus from The Umbrella Academy. He’d make me laugh and he could give me make up tips and, well, he’s easy on the eyes, The second choice was trickier cause it has to be a different fandom person. But I eventually decided on Prince Sidon. Why? Because his positivity would keep my spirits up. Although he’s so tall he’d probably hit his head on the ceiling.

Who breaks first? Klaus, without a doubt. I think he’d get too restless, especially with his history of being confined. Hopefully we could distract him (I think he’d be reallly interested in Sidon) and help keep him occupied.

Last thing is last night I continued my Doctor Who run (albeit breaking to watch Maxx’s stream) last nights was The Face Of Evil. Before I get into the ep itself I wanna cover something else about when .i first got it.

So I got into old Who dvds quite late. As a result I got most of them in sales or when the price went down. The last few, however, I got when they came out. The Face Of Evil was the second to last Fourth Doctor dvd release (Terror Of The Zygons was the last one). I got it on release primarily so that I could take it with me to a convention in Milton Keynes which was going to have both Louise Jameson (Leela) and Tom Baker (the fourth Doctor). I’d got some money from doing some survey or other so I put that towards getting their autographs.

Louise was so sweet and I got a picture with her at the signing stand. Getting Tom’s autograph took a bit longer, because, we’ll it was him. But I remember that he was angry about the organisers not limiting people (but he did say he’d sign everyone in the queue). I heard that cause I was only a few people back when he said it and, as a result, it made me shyer. So not the best experience, but still.

So yeah, I have the dvd signed by them both. (At the same event I also got the claws of axos signed by Katy Manning.)

The episode is a pretty good one. It does a good job introducing Leela (who I love). The interesting thing is that it shows the aftermath of the Doctor meddling and the unintentional consequences as a result. The titular Face is very much the Fourth Doctor so its placement of that original trip is a bit... limited. According to the wiki, the novel stated that adventure occurred during Robot. The subject of this post is part of a quote from this ep and it’s something that... well here’s the full thing.

‘You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views, which can be uncomfortable’

Next week is one of my favourite old Who episodes, Robots Of Death.
shadowhive: (Maxx Pretty)
So its June now which means it’s time for the June something.

First off though I hope everyone is staying safe. There’s are strange times, between the virus and the protests in America so I hope everyone is staying as safe as they can.

Anyway onto the question.

What's a new fandom that you've fallen into since the last June Something/in the last year?

There’s been a few things I’ve gotten into since last year but there’s not much I’ve got into majorly to get involved in fandoms. Partly because I’m kinda burned out by fandoms (there’s so much drama) but also there’s usual things like being late to them or just not feeling them enough to read/write fic or anything.

So here’s a few things that I have gotten into. (That I can remember anyway, there’s likely more)

Tv

The Mandalorian is a strange one, in that it’s something I’d known was coming. However it was so shrouded in secrecy (even trailers were behind closed doors) that I got frustrated by it. Plus it came out on Disney+ which at the time was only in a few places which added to the frustration. And then I watched it (originally by third party streams for most of the eps) The first ep was pretty much like I thought it would be... and then the child showed up. I ended up watching it on Disney + when it came out here and it’s just so great. I can’t wait for season 2

Nailed it was something I just randomly watched on Netflix and it’s just so funny and fun. Sure some of the chefs are... hopeless but I think most do pretty well. Mostly.

Batwoman is something that started weeks back and it’s so good! Though it’s a shame that Ruby Rose is leaving the part because I thought she was great at it.

Star Trek Picard was like the Mandalorian in that I knew it was coming and that I didn’t know what to expect. Thankfully it was on amazon prime here at the same time as America so I was able to watch it. I really enjoyed season 1 and loved getting to see Seven Of Nine again (I hope she’s in it more) and I love Elnor and Rios too.

Music

5 Seconds Of Summer is a band I kinda got into last year because there was a song on the Kliego playlist. However since then I’ve gotten more into them and I love their last two albums so much.

Set It Off is a band I got into a few months back due to a ‘friend’ and they’re so great. Maxx is so pretty and I’ve been loving his streams over on twitch and just... yeah.

Podcast

The Magnus Archives is a podcast I picked up from... somewhere. I’m not sure where (if it was snowflake or sunshine or June something) but I decided to check it out awhile ago and it’s so good! I just finished season 3 (season 5 has just started so I’m a bit behind). How to describe it? Well it’s spooky! Every ep is (Usually) in the form of a statement, left by a person that has experienced something strange. And yeah, it’s amazing!

I’m sure I’ve missed a something really obvious so I may add to this. But I’m getting ready now to head out for the food shop.
