June something day 16 + E3
Jun. 16th, 2021 12:43 pmDay 16: Do you have a fandom that you follow - either regularly or casually - with little to no knowledge of canon?
There’s some shows that I watch and just… watch the show (or films) without getting too involved. But I do tend to have this thing where I get curious about things ep and end up looking up if something has a wiki for answers. (For example I’m a pretty casual potter fan, only watching the films, but when I do I sometimes look on the wiki to see if something isn’t mentioned in the films)
And then there’s also this thing that I call fandom osmosis, where I see people posting gifs or art from a thing and I’m all ‘ohh that’s really good!’ But I’ve not got into the fandom myself. Ones that come to mind for those are Genshin Impact and Sk8 infinity. I’ve got the later to watch, but the former is a game and I don’t have access to it till it comes on switch like it’s meant to (but it has pretties)

So yesterday was the Nintendo E3 direct and… hmm, I’m in two minds about it.
First there was some good announcements. There was a look at Mario golf, which looks cute and that, with the treehouse stream after makes me curious. I hope there’ll be a demo.
There’s a new Metroid game and, while I’ve not really played the series before it does look pretty good and I might be tempted to get it.
There was, as I predicted a new smash fighter… from tekken so I have zero familiarity with them. (And the choice of Gabon at the start of the trailer seemed to be a fake out).
There seems to be no big Zelda game collection like people thought for the anniversary. The first dlc for Hyrule warriors looks cool though and there was a trailer for Breath Of The Wild 2 which has a release for next year! It also makes sense why they decided to do the Skyward Sword remake next month, since it seems to feature the floating islands from it.
There were a few other things that looked like they might be interesting, like Danganropa but we’ll see.
What puzzled me though was the two glaring omissions from it. First, there was nothing about Pokemon, even though it’s one of the big games coming out on the switch this year, this makes me think there might be a dedicated Pokemon direct coming sometime soon.
There also wasn’t anything about Animal Crossing which is a surprise. I mean I’m not sure if I did expect anything, but considering it was a huge game for Nintendo this last year they could have acknowledged that, or at least said ‘more updates are coming soon’. But nope. That’s not to say there’s nothing coming, like I said there was nothing about Pokemon either and we know that’s coming, but still it was… strange.
And speaking of E3, capcom had a thing on Monday and… Herlock Sholmes is real? I thought that was a meme, but no he’s an actual thing.
There’s a bunch of ID@xbox demos and I downloaded a few last night, intending to give some a try but I just… crashed last night. Which was annoying.
Today I went to get meds and I stopped off in sainsburys to look for something mum wanted (a skirt which was there) and I got some of the Lego dots bracelets as well as the new Doctor Who special and one of the new potter sets which is sweet.
I’m gonna watch Loki sometime today (maybe this afternoon but going down there in the heat has made me feel tired) and hopefully go on the demos tonight.
