So last night I continued the watch of Doctor Who season 14.with The Robots Of Death. Robots is one of my favourite Old Who eps and watching again reminds me why. The first scene has a great attempt by the Doctor to explain to Leela how the TARDIS is bigger on the inside, using two boxes, it’s clever and I think it’s the only time such an explanation has been done. Leela is great in this, she’s inquisitive and caring and sassy.

Then there’s the setting. A sand miner might not sound the most exciting of locations, but once you see it you can see it’s totally unique. The Art Deco style of the crew rooms is really nice and different. And the costumes are, well they’re certainly different as well. I mean look at this picture of the captain and his snazzy hat. And then there’s the titular Robots which all look great too.

It’s also an enjoyable story with a murder mystery, even though the title does give away that it’s the robots doing the murdering but it’s the why and who that does it. Plus D84 is so adorable and the other characters are great too.

I’m looking forward to watching the special features later, since ?I went too tired to watch them last night.

This morning I was gonna listen to one of the Big Finish Who audios or Magnus archives but I was too snuggled and slept. I came down when I heard mail came (it was animal crossing cards) and was amused cause Naryu had been on the windowsill but made no reaction to the post lady knocking. (And then she went out in the garden and mum panicked but it was cause she’d found a dead bird (it might’ve been one from before that was buried).

I went out to get some things from Home bargains and the queue to get in was longer than before. There were no masks and still no flour or anything but I got most of the other things I was sent for so...

I had a doze after Father Brown, AC and watching NCIS from last night.🖤

I also had a delivery from amazon. I’d ordered the child, a plush one mum’s got me (coming next month and what I thought was the black series the child (to go with my figures). It was the latter that came today and it’s not that. My first hint was the box. The black series Child is tiny but the box was much bigger and then I opened is and instead it’s a different one. It’s still pretty cute but still.

And now today’s June something question.

Is there any fandom that you regret getting into?

None that I can think of. I mean there’s some films/shows that I’ve watched that I regret watching or lost interest in them.

I do regret knowing some people I’ve met in fandom. Some have just been unpleasant or horrible and I wish I’d never known them. Bah.

I’m gonna snuggle now and watch Springwatch and stuff.

So yesterday I made three shortish posts. Today I’m only gonna make one but it’s gonna be long.

Well, things in America are.... insane. It feels like things are getting much worse and it’s honestly scary. I’m so glad I’m not over there because I know I’d be paralysed with anxiety. It’s bad enough watching it unfold from the sidelines being involved would be... I couldn’t do it. I just couldn’t function.

MCR twitter is being bitchy again, this time about... MCR themselves. Because they aren’t doing enough or saying the right things. Listen, I think Gerard could have done more than use the blank screen on insta, but we know he has a mental illness and that can be paralysing. I just hate how vicious people are.

And then there’s Palaye who have suspended press for the new album and are actually out there in the protests. I hope they stay safe but that’s pretty badass, Maxx from Set It Off did a charity stream and it was crazy seeing him get notifications of the curfew changing. It really is so scary.

Of course it’s not helped by having idiots in power and the police being more and more thuggish. I just... hope everyone stays safe.

I’m gonna be on twitter less, or try to, because it’s all so overwhelming and will burn me out.

Anyway.

Yesterday was a food shop which was exhausting. There was also Animal Crossing which involved the new Wedding Event (kinda cute) and CJ (which led to me getting most of the new fish).

This morning I had a visitor in the form of Leia. She doesn’t usually come for day time cuddles despite me telling her (when she comes at night) that she can. It was sweet. I then put on new night vale, before doing some revision stuff. The exam thing is next Monday which is another reason I’m not wanting to get burned out.

We just got back from the walk and the geese are growing! They’re less fuzzy but one has gone. I dunno how cause they’re quite big but I guess it explains why they’ve been on the island lately. I’ll try and get pics tomorrow. There’s a lot of really big fish at the surface of the water due to the heat. I dunno if I could get pics but they look like AC fish shadows.

And now the June something for today

You're stuck in quarantine with two people from different fandoms. Who are they, and who "breaks" first?

This is an interesting question. The first choice was easy. Klaus from The Umbrella Academy. He’d make me laugh and he could give me make up tips and, well, he’s easy on the eyes, The second choice was trickier cause it has to be a different fandom person. But I eventually decided on Prince Sidon. Why? Because his positivity would keep my spirits up. Although he’s so tall he’d probably hit his head on the ceiling.

Who breaks first? Klaus, without a doubt. I think he’d get too restless, especially with his history of being confined. Hopefully we could distract him (I think he’d be reallly interested in Sidon) and help keep him occupied.

Last thing is last night I continued my Doctor Who run (albeit breaking to watch Maxx’s stream) last nights was The Face Of Evil. Before I get into the ep itself I wanna cover something else about when .i first got it.

So I got into old Who dvds quite late. As a result I got most of them in sales or when the price went down. The last few, however, I got when they came out. The Face Of Evil was the second to last Fourth Doctor dvd release (Terror Of The Zygons was the last one). I got it on release primarily so that I could take it with me to a convention in Milton Keynes which was going to have both Louise Jameson (Leela) and Tom Baker (the fourth Doctor). I’d got some money from doing some survey or other so I put that towards getting their autographs.

Louise was so sweet and I got a picture with her at the signing stand. Getting Tom’s autograph took a bit longer, because, we’ll it was him. But I remember that he was angry about the organisers not limiting people (but he did say he’d sign everyone in the queue). I heard that cause I was only a few people back when he said it and, as a result, it made me shyer. So not the best experience, but still.

So yeah, I have the dvd signed by them both. (At the same event I also got the claws of axos signed by Katy Manning.)

The episode is a pretty good one. It does a good job introducing Leela (who I love). The interesting thing is that it shows the aftermath of the Doctor meddling and the unintentional consequences as a result. The titular Face is very much the Fourth Doctor so its placement of that original trip is a bit... limited. According to the wiki, the novel stated that adventure occurred during Robot. The subject of this post is part of a quote from this ep and it’s something that... well here’s the full thing.

‘You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views, which can be uncomfortable’

Next week is one of my favourite old Who episodes, Robots Of Death.

So last night I continued with my Who run with The Deadly Assassin.

The Deadly Assassin is the only old Who ep where the Doctor is without a companion and while it works without one there are moments (like when the doctor is in the tardis alone) where it shows why one is needed. Also because of that, it’s the first ep with no human characters in it at all (and everyone, bar a computer voice, is men, wtf?). I do like the Castellan and Engin was funny too. As was the introduction of the new master (though looking back it’s odd that he isn’t followed up on for four seasons). it gave us the first look at a Time Lord culture and it’s stuck around for ages (this was where the fancy outfits came from which look great).

All in all it was a pretty good episode.

I got too tired last night to watch the special features so I will tonight.

I spent the morning dozing a bit, so I didn’t listen to the magnus archives as planned. Hopefully tomorrow. I ended up going to grab a few things from home bargains, which was tiring due to the heat (and how we’re the bags heavier than the basket?). One of the things I got, though, was a pumpkin growing kit so hopefully I’ll have some luck with that.

I was gonna try and read but I was too tired. (I did read a chapter of black spire Friday though at last woo!). I also need to read the last doctor who magazine more. My new night vale novel came unexpectedly Sunday so I think I’ll read that when black spire is done.

Tonight I’m gonna watch Springwatch and the new bake off professionals. So cute animals and ridiculous cakes.

So yesterday was food shop day. It might be my last trip since the delivery slots are starting to come back. That’s something I’ll be glad off. While I am grateful for mum’s friend taking me, it’s exhausting (especially going so early) and it always seems to be so much more than a usual shop is. (Although yeah, this time I did get the last Spider-Man film so...). I also got my meds too.

Because of that yesterday I was mostly exhausted however there was good news! The Umbrella Academy season 2 has a date at last! Yay! July 31st. So it’s still awhile away, but hopefully there’ll be a trailer soon. It’s good timing since it means I can switch my fixation back to it. The video for the announcement was great though.

Other than that, I napped and there was a later delivery of tees (at 4 wtf?). I’ve ordered a few from qwertee the fast few weeks and this one was a Majora’s Mask one with a bonus tee (which was A Batman tee which... is ok).

Last night after watching the usual things I put on the next Who, which was The Hand Of Fear. It was a pretty good ep though there was some odd things. (Why did the the Doctor and Sarah Jane not react to the sirens as soon as they left the tardis?) still the concept was pretty sound and it’s amazing they filmed in an actual nuclear power plant. The last scene, of Sarah Jane leaving, was sad but not overly so. (And with the benefit of hindsight we know she meets the Doctor again and that he never forgets her).

I considered watching the special features, of the last Hollow ep (I watched one in the morning) but was too tired. Tonight I’m gonna watch the Elisabeth Sladen tribute and get feels for it.

It’s three weeks yesterday till my exam thing, so technically I should be revising but This morning was definitely nope. I did listen to an ep of The Magnus Archives which was a good one.

Thankfully yesterday Flick was there on AC which I’ve been hoping for every day for weeks causa all the bugs. Please let him be regular again. Today was Gulliver so I hope he gives me a nice thing.

This week I’m hoping to watch more films (I want to watch on on shudder, amazon or Netflix). There’s a thing called Blood Machines coming to shudder Which I’m curious about. I also want to actually read my book and whoa magazine. And I wanna watch some more Devs and Clone Wars. And game on the Xbox.

But for now, noms. And to curse the sun which has come out again. (And we have a leak, damnit)
