shadowhive: (4th Doctor Jelly Baby)
So last night I continued the watch of Doctor Who season 14.with The Robots Of Death. Robots is one of my favourite Old Who eps and watching again reminds me why. The first scene has a great attempt by the Doctor to explain to Leela how the TARDIS is bigger on the inside, using two boxes, it’s clever and I think it’s the only time such an explanation has been done. Leela is great in this, she’s inquisitive and caring and sassy.

Then there’s the setting. A sand miner might not sound the most exciting of locations, but once you see it you can see it’s totally unique. The Art Deco style of the crew rooms is really nice and different. And the costumes are, well they’re certainly different as well. I mean look at this picture of the captain and his snazzy hat. And then there’s the titular Robots which all look great too.

It’s also an enjoyable story with a murder mystery, even though the title does give away that it’s the robots doing the murdering but it’s the why and who that does it. Plus D84 is so adorable and the other characters are great too.

I’m looking forward to watching the special features later, since ?I went too tired to watch them last night.

This morning I was gonna listen to one of the Big Finish Who audios or Magnus archives but I was too snuggled and slept. I came down when I heard mail came (it was animal crossing cards) and was amused cause Naryu had been on the windowsill but made no reaction to the post lady knocking. (And then she went out in the garden and mum panicked but it was cause she’d found a dead bird (it might’ve been one from before that was buried).

I went out to get some things from Home bargains and the queue to get in was longer than before. There were no masks and still no flour or anything but I got most of the other things I was sent for so...

I had a doze after Father Brown, AC and watching NCIS from last night.🖤

I also had a delivery from amazon. I’d ordered the child, a plush one mum’s got me (coming next month and what I thought was the black series the child (to go with my figures). It was the latter that came today and it’s not that. My first hint was the box. The black series Child is tiny but the box was much bigger and then I opened is and instead it’s a different one. It’s still pretty cute but still.

And now today’s June something question.

Is there any fandom that you regret getting into?

None that I can think of. I mean there’s some films/shows that I’ve watched that I regret watching or lost interest in them.

I do regret knowing some people I’ve met in fandom. Some have just been unpleasant or horrible and I wish I’d never known them. Bah.

I’m gonna snuggle now and watch Springwatch and stuff.
shadowhive: (Klaus Ashes)
So this is the last post of the June Something questions and it’s been pretty interesting to do.

13: What do YOU consider fandom's "little black dress"? Is it a coffeeshop AU? Sharing a bed trope? Bonus, share your favorite example.

This is tricky since, until recently, I’d checked out of fandom. I’d kinda been pushed out last year and didn’t expect I’d come back to it. But then I decided to come back into things. As you will see in these answers, The Umbrella Academy played a huge part in that.

So to answer the question, with a The Umbrella Academy, omegaverse stuff seems to be popular. The fandom is still pretty new, so others will be forming too. Some of other great fics have been murder mysteries, with Diego as a detective (Klaus usually ends up involved in there too in various ways).

I’ve not actually gone through The Umbrella Academy tag for awhile due to having tabs of doom! But I will soon.

14: Some long fics used to come with a playlist. What's a song that you were introduced to by something fannish, and what was it inspired by? Bonus: Share a link to the song/music.

Now I hoped that The Umbrella Academy would get a following when the series started. What I didn’t expect was for the fandom with it to be so huge. People were writing and making art within days of the show coming on Netflix and people formed communities pretty quickly too.

I ended up joining some of those communities on discord. I didn’t expect much, I’ve been pretty bad at using discord since last year (and some servers I’ve not been as active in as others) but the Kliego one is the one I ended up most connected to.

Early on one of the members started a kliego playlist of songs related to our boys. Most of them I had never heard of but I love them, I listen to the playlist a lot and some sounds (like Gallery Piece) ended up inspiring one of my fics.

15: What is something you do today that you wouldn't be doing if not for fandom? Examples: Vacation with fellow fen, running a community, etc.

So I’ve mentioned a lot how I was a fandom outsider today and this is true. I only really felt part of the bandom community back in the lj day’s and, when people started leaving, I lost that. I lost contact with people and the sense of community that came from it. I kept writing, but for less and less people until, eventually, I was left with one regular reader.

In 2017 I found myself in another fandom community. It was a discord for Waycest and I felt connected with people again, I felt encouraged to post on ao3 again, so that’s what I did. Then last year, those people fucked me over. A month later my final main reader left too. I was at a bit of a loss as to what to do and, eventually, stopped writing altogether. I had two other readers, but one just went silent and I think another killed herself.

So yeah, last year felt like a mess and I thought that I was done with fandom completely. I was so discouraged and low, I just felt... I dunno.

Anyway, end of last year I kinda stumbled into new people here, which lead me to slowly begin to write again. Then I joined bandom holidays which was a lot of fun and then I did the snowflake challenge. Through that I built more confidence again. I connected with people, on here and twitter, and I started posting on ao3 again.

And then The Umbrella Academy came along and I connected with more people. I joined discords, eventually being asked to co-mod the kliego one and it just... it all feels so surreal. If you told me last year I’d be doing all this I’d have no believed you.

I feel in such a good place and it feels, so strange. But it’s a good strange.

Anyway I’ve napped all afternoon so now I’m trying to watch stuff.
shadowhive: (Prince Sidon Zora Prince!)
I meant to do a post the other day but I just got too tired so I’m doing it now.

First off E3 stuff.

Monday I watched the Ubisoft stream and it was largely... eh. There was nothing I really got excited about. The exception was Watch Dogs Legion (but that just reminded me I’d not done the first two games). It’s an interesting concept, being able to play as anyone in London and I have to admit my favourite of the characters shown was the kickass old lady. However it all feels a bit... close. Like the dystopia shown within in it is less fiction and more scarily close to something that will actually happen.

After that I watched the inside Xbox stream, though most of it was for stuff I wasn’t fussed by. I actually ended up dozing after awhile.

I meant to watch the Square Enix stream, but since I dozed, I missed it. Ah well. It seems like it was mostly Final Fantasy from what I could tell. I’ve never played VII so I might get it cause pretty boys. I need to finish the Final Fantasy I have though.

Yesterday was the Nintendo direct which was pretty good. Ok, there were a few games I wasn’t fussed by but what they shown was good. The Pokemon bit was short (as predicted) with no really reveals but the show floor images showed new Pokemon. Link’s Awakening looks so cute and the main new feature looks fun, but I hope it’s not a full price game. It’s a remake of a game boy colour game so they have to add a hell of a lot more than that to justify it being full price. Here’s hoping there is something but... it’s Zelda, I’ll get it regardless. There were smash dlc fighters, as predicted, with two being revealed but I’m not super bothered by either. Ah well. I still need to get the dlc.

Of course they left the main reveal towards the end. Animal Crossing is coming yay! But it’s been delayed until next March, ugh. It looks nice though, but being set on a deserted island means it might be... well, deserted. The gameplay they showed after shown off villagers but it was still early in the game so... who the hell knows. I guess we’ll see.

After that (and the Banjo-Kazooie sopmash dlc) it seemed like it was the end of rather stream... until they said there was one more thing. And then they played the best trailer of the whole thing because there’s a breath of the wild sequel coming! And seriously, I got fucking chills! It looks so fucking spooky I love it. (And please let my favourite boy come back!)

After the show was the treehouse showing gameplay of stuff. It showed off some Pokemon (but notmuch), Animal Crossing (as said above) and some of Link’s awakening (though it was just the first village for most of it).

After it I gamed a bit on gamepass games, then finished Taskmaster season 1 before sleeping.

I guess should add other things, but there’s not really been much else to say. The weather has been miserable so we’ve not gone far with Naryu and I’ve been too tired in the afternoons to do any of my reading. I did get the MCR magazine yesterday (thanks love) though I’ve not read it yet. I will after the exam (which, ugh I just want it to be over, I think the nerves from it are throwing me off because I can’t focus on writing). I’m trying to do a Ray fic for seasonofkink but it seems to be going slow. Maybe once the exam is done I’ll feel better.

If anyone feels like doing me a short thing for after it, please do. It would be super awesome.

I’m gonna end now on the June something

11: What is the fandom that you're in, but none of your fen are?

I have to say the Welsh bands. Bullet For My Valentine, The Blackout, Funeral For A Friend (And Lostprophets before Ian was a fucking dick. It didn’t used to be that way, I used to have friends into them, but it feels like they have all fallen away (with the deepest cut being the one last year). It really sucks because they’re all great band and I love writing about them but it just feels... the spark is gone because they have left.

Same with a Motionless in white, I love them but after being fucked over I’m not sure I want to write them again.

The New Regime is also criminally underrated, Ilan is amazing.

I can’t think of anything else that fits this for tv and films. I’ve watched some awesome shows on Netflix (The Hollow, Final Space, The Dragon Prince) But none are fandoms I’d want to be in other than watching and appreciating.

I did recently get into listening to King Falls which is a podcast that is similar to Night Vale (small community with strange goings on and the podcast is based on a radio show) but the tone isn’t very different. I’m still pretty early on (around ep 20ish?) But it’s super good.

12: What fandom did everyone else get into, but you never did?

Again I’ll start with bands. Ok back in the day there was (and still is) ‘the emo trinity’. It was My Chemical Romance, Panic! At The Disco and Fall Out Boy. While I was always super into MCR, my love for the other ps wasn’t as strong. I was super into Panic! At the beginning but that started to fall away over the years, especially when they started losing people. When one member leaves early on (and then the replacement and a founding member leave together), well... eh. I dunno why I didn’t get into FOB but something jut didn’t really click. I did recently start listening to the, again though and got super into Mania and stuff.

Now for tv, I’ve mentioned Arrow before (and it seems I’m not alone there, so I won’t go into that). But there are two shows that seem to have a lot of fans that I’ll mention. First, The Walking Dead. I started watching it at the start (before Sky nabbed it) but I quickly found myself losing interest because it was just too... grim and yeah, that’s to be expected from a zombie apocalypse but it just seemed to get more and more grim (and from what I can gather second hand it gets grimmer). I checked out of it fairly early on and I’m glad I did.

The second is Game Of Thrones. It being shown on Sky meant that I couldn’t watch it, but it seems everyone is super into it. I did download and watch some eps (just the first two) but I didn’t get invested and got distracted by stuff. (And, honestly, I’m bad at watching stuff on my laptop). From what I can tell though, it gets grim as well and virtually everyone dies which.., I dunno, I don’t think I could watch. It just seems depressing (though I am glad that the annoying brat died though).

Gaming wise I never really got into the big shooters (like Gears Of Wars) and, honestly, Overwatch. There’s so much hype around it and I love the art and stuff for it... but there’s not much there. I wish there was some kind of story mode to it, that’d be much more fun then what there is
shadowhive: (Claudio Tape gag)
This weekend has been mostly a lazy one. Saturday I watched a few Good Omens eps then Killing Eve and games a little.

Sunday was even more lazy I meant to watch more Good Omens or Enterprise but I did neither. I ended up dozing in the afternoon and the day just... went. I didn’t even write any, but ah well.

At least I was up for the E3 streams.

First was the Xbox one. Like the last few ones it’s shows off a load of game trailers and there’s so many shown which is both good and bad. Good In that it shows off a lot, but bad that there’s nothing in depth shown for most of them. Games I’m hyped for though: The Outer Worlds, Blair Witch, Star Wars Fallen Order, Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, Cyberpunk, most of the indies. Cyberpunk was one of the few that got some in depth stuff and that was thanks to Keanu Reeves being announced for it! Like a lot of people I’m wondering ‘is he romanceable?’ And he was actually there (and had a guy from the audience say he looked good).

Xbox game pass ultimate was up for £1 and getting it converted the Xbox live that I had so now I have game pass for a year, woo!

Then there was the gap between Xbox and Bethesda which I filled with random gaming (I went on one of the new game pass games for a bit, but it was a bit... I dunno.

The Bethesda stream was 1:30am here so I decided to watch that before sleeping. Bethesda does a bit more in depth with stuff which is good. Ghostwire looks spooky and awesome (and the Japanese lady presenting that section was so sweet and adorable, she just looked so happy to be there). Elder Scrolls Online had a new cinematic but not much in terms of info (probably since the new expansion for put out the other week, which I’ll likely get next week). One of the big news was a free patch adding things to Fallout 76 including npcs which is very much yes! I’ll need to go back on it soon.

Tonight is the Ubisoft stream which I’ll watch, there’s Square Enid too but I can take or leave it. Tomorrow is the Nintendo one which I’m looking forward too. Please let there be animal crossing info.

To end, the last two June Something questions before I revise some (and fic later).

9: What is the smallest fandom that you're in?

I’d probably say the Welsh bands. Especially Bullet For My Valentine. 98% of the Bullet fic out there is either by me or for me. Alas, there’s not much of it and I’m dying for new stuff.

The other welsh bands somehow fair worse. I get it for Funeral For A Friend, but The Blackout is inherently slashy due to Sean being... well, Sean. It sucks that there’s not much for British bands in general (like Fightstar) and it puzzles me why some bands (Madina Lake, Palaye Royale, Coheed And Cambria) don’t have stuff despite having pretty boys.

Also Hatari has no fics on ao3 yet. What the hell?

Ugh, I just don’t get people.

As for tv or film fandoms? I dunno. I’m not a super active reader or writer in those so... I dunno. There’s probably something I watch that doesn’t get enough love but my mind is blank.

10: What is the largest fandom that you're in?

Usually I’d say My Chemical Romance. It’s a weird fandom in that it never has truly died, but it’s also not quite as active as it once was. Most of the content on ao3 is also focussed on Frank/Gerard, more so than it used to be, and it seems there’s a shame culture around others. Especially Waycest, which there never used to be, but I got harassment on twitter because of it which is sucky but lead me (and someone else) to spite write it which was awesome.

Plus, poor Ray gets reduced to little more than a side character often which sucks.

However, my current big one is The Umbrella Academy (tv). Honestly I never imagined it to get so big. I hoped there’d be more content (there wasn’t much for the comics which was sad), but I never expected it to get *checks* over 4500 fics and it’s been, what? A few months? The community is all so nice (apart from the purity side on tumblr, ugh) and I love that Klaus/Diego has so much fucking content it’s insane. I’ve met so many good people through the Kliego discord and I also mod it now which is awesome. It’s so great to be part of such an active fan base for a thing, I’ve never had that before.

Plus the other brother pairings are awesome too. Diego/Luther, Ben/Klaus and the rpf ones for David/Justin/Robert are amazing (although theres not much of that alas).
shadowhive: (Frank wink)
So a few days ago someone mentioned about the lj day’s and it made me nostalgic as it always does. I miss the lj day’s so much. Everywhere was active and there was just so much amazing content. It was a time where I felt connected with people.

And then it all kinda fell apart. People either left it or vanished into the ether. Now lj is a dead place and it’s sad. I miss the the friendships I made there and the people that just vanished. I hope that they’re doing ok, though I wish I could contact some again. It’s always sad seeing stuff that’s been deleted or lost forever. And yeah, thinking about that reminds me of the times before last year, before getting fucked over by people I thought were friends too.

After lj it feels like people scattered to the wind and nothing really replaced it. Some went to twitter or tumblr, some came here. I’m glad for dreamwidth, even though it’s not as active as lj was back in the day. Or maybe it’s just because I’m not in active fandoms here, I dunno.

The constant, though, seems to be ao3. It’s still an... odd place to me. People leave kudos, but hardly any leave comments. There’s no real sense of community there like back on lj (no places with prompts or recs or anything like that. Small fandoms there stay small while others end up with a flood of content). I’m trying to save some bookmarks on there. I’d not saved many, instead having them saved as bookmarks on Firefox when I had my laptop, so I’m trying to go through stuff like mcr and bookmark.

I was on Spotify the other day and ended up listening to Death Spells. I’d not really heard them before and there’s something... hypnotic about them. Motionless In White’s album came out yesterday too so I put it on Spotify too and it sounds better then I had expected it to be.

It seems like November is going to be busy. My love is planning a trip, to come visit around the time of comic con (just watch though, no one interesting will there). It’ll be nice to meet and show her around (not that Birmingham is terribly exciting but it’s the company that matters). It’ll be my first time leaving Naryu for more than a day trip so I hope she’ll be ok. The whole idea makes me excited/nervous.

The rest of November is destined to bankrupt me, between the new Star Wars novels, Fallen Order and Pokemon, I’ll be busy and distracted by everything.

E3 started today with the EA stream. Beforehand there was a bit of Battlefront into, with droideka coming and Felucia being added as a map. The EA stream today was unusual because, instead of doing an hour long conference they’re doing half hour segments for various games. This is good because it’s more focussed (and Star Wars being first meant there was no sitting through sport) but bad cause there was no info on indie games or battlefront footage.

However the Fallen Order footage was awesome. It shown off 15 minutes of gameplay on Kashyyyk which looks great. I love the new droid and Saw appearing! Which dates it as being sometime before Rogue One. The purge troopers look pretty cool too. I have to admit it’s made me more excited about it,

Tomorrow is the Xbox stream and Bethesda, with Ubisoft Monday and Nintendo Tuesday.

I did a bit of writing last night, starting my other seasonofkink fic idea. It’s Ray centric and I’m gonna try and do some more to it soon hopefully. It seems the first thing I’m gonna clear on the card is a vertical line on the left hand side.

Speaking of fic I really need to get back on the serial killer one. I’ve not even looked at it in ages and I really want to do it sometime. Maybe after the exam.

Tonight I might put on Good Omens some before Killing Eve and then may do some sort of gaming,

June something

8: What is a fandom that you never thought you'd get into, but did? Bonus: How did you end up getting into it?

I never thought I’d get into the Arrowverse stuff. DC stuff never really interested me, but The Flash came on tv and I decided to check it out. To quote night vale, I fell in love instantly with Cisco. He’s just so cute and geeky and pretty, he’s awesome.

Since then I watched Supergirl and Legends of tommorrow and I enjoy them too. The only one I didn’t get into is, ironically, Arrow. Maybe it’s because it’s grimmer, or maybe it’s because it was on one day a week (compared with the others 5). I dunno.

Full circle

So I didn’t do a post yesterday, mostly because the morning I was working on revision (ugh) and the rest of the day was snuggling and finishing fic. Which I did! Woo! So my first season of kink fic is done and posted, As I mention in the notes it’s my first omegaverse fic.

To be honest, I’d never really seen the appeal of omegaverse stuff until fairly recently. I always thought it seemed pretty... well, strange, however I ended up reading a few Kliego ones (and it seems pretty popular especially on the meme for some reason) and I came out with a kind of appreciation for it. I just hope it all turned out pretty well.

Yesterday we walked Naryu around the reservoir and the geese are all so big! All 11 of the babies are still there, but they’ve gotten so big now and they’re not as fluffy. They’ve done so well with them to get them to be so big.

I got tired last night so wasn’t in the mood to do much gaming or watching anything. I put King Falls on instead and drifted off (which is annoying cause it keeps playing so I have to backtrack a bit.

Next week is the exam and ugh. I feel so nervous about it and unprepared. I just want the damn thing to be over already.

Once it’s done I’m gonna be back to writing more. I have some wip to do (like finally finishing the kliego serial killer fic) as well as a few other fic to do (a Ben/Diego, eldritch Ben, another Grant fic, Killjoys stuff etc). As well as the seasonofkink table. I expect the table will mostly be filled with The Umbrella Academy or MCR stuff though I may do something a bit more self indulgent too.

I also want to get other things done too. I want to read at least 4 of my Star Wars books, as well as the graphic novels I have. I want to complete some of the games I have both on Xbox and the switch. I want to watch the pile of DVDs and films I have on my to do list on Netflix and shudder (shudder especially since I’ve hardly watched it alas). I might compile a list sometime.

I’ve still not decided what to do about those mcr titans from the other day. Damnit.

The Xbox sale for e3 started last night, but it was thankfully, nothing terribly special. Most were what I already had and I don’t feel like some of the ones I might get are discounted enough yet. Speaking of E3 the coverage starts this weekend and I’m excited for it. I hope we get more info on stuff like Animal Crossing (like footage, or a release date or anything!) as well as some cool new games.

Anyway, before I get back to revising here is my June Something answers.

5: What fandom that got a series finale was that most appropriate/most satisfying. Bonus: What about it would you have changed, if anything?

6: What fandom that got a series finale was the LEAST appropriate/least satisfying. Bonus: How would you have fixed it?

So I feel these two questions are best answered together since they cover the same topic, season finales.

Now the thing about season finales is that they tend to wrap things up too quickly (and thus, badly) or introduce romances out of nowhere. As such, many finales are either unsatisfying or have as many flaws as they do good parts.

A recent season finale I rewatched (since it was on tv) was Warehouse 13. It had some good parts (I really loved Claudia becoming caretaker and the looking back thing was pretty good, although some revelations came out of nowhere) but the Myka/Pete romance felt like it came out of the blue. Myka had way more chemistry with HG and they would’ve been a much better fit.

The Stargate season finale was another one I watched recently and it didn’t tie anything other. The Asgard all committed mass suicide, but it felt like that, to, came out of nowhere and there was no real time to mourn them. The whole ep felt disappointing as a finale, though I do know that they have some films that tie some things up (which I need to see).

Some shows that did better with season finales are shows like Deep Space Nine, which spent the last few episodes tying all the threads of the series together. This worked better than trying to rush things together in one finale and, as a whole, it was pretty satisfying. The Next Generation finale worked pretty well too, linking back to the first ep.

I’m trying to think of other ones that did pretty well, but alas the only ones that come to mind are shows that went off the rails instead (that’s not to say there aren’t good ones that I’ve seen, just that there’s a lot of shows I’ve not watched in ages so can’t properly comment.

One example of that is The X-Files. Now, I love The X-Files, it’s one of my favourite shows but I have to admit that the two finales for it weren’t the best. The first one, The Truth from the end of season 9 had lots of neat call backs and it was good to see some people come back again (like Marita) but it was mostly set in a courtroom and so was pretty, well, boring. And then introducing the smoking man being alive (again) only to kill him (again) it just felt a bit like a mess.

So when the show came back for some more eps I hoped that they’d manage to do a better job with it. Alas, they didn’t. At the end of the first ep, the smoking man is inexplicably back (despite being blown up!) and so much of the series gets taken up with trying to set up a new thing that seems to ignore all of the established stuff (Monica Reyes joining the smoking man? The aliens suddenly not wanting to invade?) and so it all felt like a mess. I think it might have worked better if there were more episodes to give the show room to breath (and some of the standalone ones were great! So it was disappointing not to get as many). Plus the ending of the last show felt (somehow) even more unsatisfying.

But yeah, that’s some of my rambling thoughts.

Roll away

So yesterday ended up being pretty annoying in some ways.

After the post, I tried to watch the tutorials about revision... and for some reason the site won’t let me (or others) play the recordings. I did find the slides from one to read through though, so I have some idea. Still, it was annoying.

In the afternoon my stomach felt money, so I didn’t have much for dinner and just, snuggled up. I did write a little though which is good. I went on Outer Wilds some more too and I figured out the controls for flying... sand died a fair few times.

I ended up getting so tired though, so after a Taskmaster rewatch I went to sleep.

Thankfully I’ve felt better today so it seems to have passed quick enough. This morning I did some revision and then we headed out with Naryu.

There was the Pokemon direct this afternoon, which was 15 minutes. It looks great and I love one of the new Pokemon (Wooloo, it’s a sheep!) though there didn’t seem to be too much new info. I’m not sold on the weird Dynamax thing that makes Pokemon big.

I dozed this afternoon instead of writing but I’m going to after this post.

My love has a dreamwidth now! She’s [personal profile] allashandra69 here 🖤

Finally today’s June Something thing

5: You get to insert your favorite OTP into a new fandom. Who is the OTP, and what fandom? Bonus: Give us a preview!

Well I’ve already inserted Diego/Klaus into a few other fandoms (Star Wars and Marvel). So I’d probably do something with Waycest. I’ve actually had half baked ideas for having them in Star Wars or Doctor Who but never actually got to the actual writing part.

(The Who one had a Mikey working as a researcher for a multi-species alliance developing ways to cope with Daleks.)

Anyway, I’m gonna snuggle and write more omegaverse mcr, hopefully to finish it tomorrow.
shadowhive: (Cisco Lolly)
So yesterday turned into being surprisingly busy.

First mum managed to get through to the doctor and make an appointment for 11:30 so we ended up going to that. Since it was around the same time as Naryu’s walk we took her with us and I sat outside with her. She ended up being a bit excitable at first, almost yanking my arm out of my socket when she barked at random people but eventually she settled.

Anyway, the doctor things it’s just an infection that mum has in her eye, so I have stuff to apply a few times a day which is... fun.

Since we headed there I didn’t do what I meant to do yesterday. (So I’m gonna watch my uni videos soon when I’m more awake.) Before we went I ended up sorting some stuff by where I sit downstairs. I was looking for one of my Star Wars books (Pirate’s Price) and the Detective Pikachu game. I found neither, but I did spot my MCR figures which reminded me I’d not got Frank, so I decided to see how much a Frank figure was and, fuck, the ones I found were around £100. Fuck that, that’s ridiculous! However, my search also popped up someone who had sets of the MCR mystery minis (here). I’m so tempted to get them, since the minis are hard to find and they’re usually individually for £10 plus. I did consider getting the three sets the seller has, but that’s £45 and that’s kinda hard to justify. I’d probably get the Danger Days set, but it’s short Jet Star which sucks. (The other sets do have Ray, but they’re missing Bob. It sucks that the Revenge set lack any accessories at all.)

Ugh. I’ll probably talk myself out of it or just get one. We’ll see.

After doing the food shop and mum going to the library, I wrote a little bit and managed to read one chapter of Queen’s Shadow before having a doze. Well, at least I read a chapter, that’s something right?

Yesterday night it was all change. With Stargate and Warehouse 13 finishing on pick last week they switched to something else this week. Something else proved to be Supergirl season 1 and The Flash season 2. They’d played both a few months back at the end of last year, but I’m a sucker for seeing my boy Cisco. (And I just know I’ll end up looking for fics of him getting railed soon.) Since it’s season 2 I know I have Reverb to look forward to so prepare for me cursing him dying in five minutes again.

I wrote a bit more while they were on but not as much as I hoped. Even so the omegaverse MCR fic will be done by the end of the week I’m sure.

After Lost Girl and Springwatch, I did some gaming. I was only gonna do the daily stuff on Battlefront and Elder Scrolls Online but I was close to a quest on ESO so I ended up completing it and the accompanying dungeon... and one other. Damnit. I did end up deciding to get Call Of Cthulhu from the games with gold sale though, so it downloaded during it. I’ll start it sometime after the exam. It might be useful inspiration.

After that I watch one Taskmaster ep, before going to zzz. It was one of the weaker season 1 eps alas, but it’s still good. Unrelated to that, I really need to watch The Descendants.

Music wise I listened to a new Motionless in White song and... eh. I dunno I’ve only liked one of the three songs from the new album, which isn’t a good sign. Maybe I’ll warm to them. I am giving BTS a listen though (after listening to the new 5 seconds of summer song Earlier which I love). They sound pretty good. I still dunno how they became so big though.

Before I go to watch videos it’s time for the next... The June Something

Day 4: You get to crossover two completely different fandoms. What two shows, and why? Bonus: Give us a preview!

Ohh this is a good question so I’m gonna give a few different answers.

Music: The main fandoms I write for have been bands, so I’ve done a lot of crossovers in my time. Some make sense (MCR/The Used) but others have been more random. I haven’t wrote him in ages (sadly) but I did pair Jay James from Bullet For My Valentine with literally every guy. Some made sense (Black Veil Brides or Fightstar) but others were much more random (MCR or Adam Lambert). I’d love to write him some more someday but alas with my main readers for him gone (fucked me over or vanished into the ether) I doubt I will. I wish I knew what happened to him or that he was back doing music.

But that’s not really an answer, that’s just me being rambly. I guess band wise I’d love Ray Toro to do a song with someone. Black Veil Brides, The Used, The New Regime, I’d just love for him to play with someone or better, sing. Plus if he’s with hot guys I can write about him with them. (And The New Regime has Ilan who looks like a mini Ray)

Tv: Tv is more obvious, I’d want The Umbrella Academy with something else. The question, of course, is what. I think since I watched it the other night, I’m gonna say The Flash, since I’d love to see Cisco react to the Hargreeves.

Games: Another easy one. Animal Crossing/Pokemon! I’ve seen awesome art of Pokemon in the animal crossing style and I just think it’d be an awesome style to see. Damn I hope we get more Animal Crossing news.

Films: MCU and Detective Pikachu, because those are the last cinema films I watch. I’d be curious who the Marvel people would have as their Pokemon partner. Some would be obvious (winter soldier and iron man would have steel types, Spider-Man would have spinark) but I just think it’d be fun to see who scarlet witch or the guardians would have.

General: I’m gonna smush Zelda and Star Wars together. They’re my two big fandoms and the only ones I have opinions for. I’d love to see a futuristic style Zelda game, with Link using thermal detonators, lightsabers and having a droid as a companion. I think that’d look pretty cool and if I had art skills I’d draw it.

That ended up kinda long. Oops.

So when I checked my friends list before sleeping last night and [personal profile] badfalcon post the answers for the first two of these and I thought it sounded interesting enough to answer myself. Questions are from [personal profile] squidgiepdx

1: We all have that ONE fandom, or OTP. But what would you consider your backup fandom? Bonus: Who is your backup OTP? Same fandom or different?

See my fandoms are kinda all over the place usually so I dunno if I actually have a one fandom or OTP. However I think one of my main fandoms is My Chemical Romance and my OTP from them is Waycest (or any of the Ray pairings).

However at the moment my main fandom is The Umbrella Academy so I guess MCR is my back up one at the moment (though I’m doing some MCR fic now so...)

But my backup otps? They’re all over the place I guess. I’m a big multishipper so my ships are all over the place anyway. With The Umbrella Academy my main ship is Diego/Klaus and my backup ones are Ben/Klaus and Diego/Luther, Ben/Diego, Five/Klaus, Diego/Five... you see a pattern right?

2: If you were able to insert yourself into one fandom as your reality, what would it be? Bonus: How different would you be in that reality?

See the thing about that is most of my fandoms are kinda... disasters. Like, I love Star Wars, but I’m not sure i’d want to live there (you know, cause all the Wars). Similar thing with Elder Scrolls (plus it’s not safe in general and there’s fucking giant spiders, hell no). Everything goes to hell every few generations in The Legend of Zelda. Even The Umbrella Academy ends with the world being destroyed.

However I did see Detective Pikachu the other week and the idea of having a Pokemon partner just sounds so amazing. So I think I’d choose to do live there. Albeit... set after the events of the film.

3: What character do you think you would end up being best friends with? Bonus: What other character would you and your new bestie give a hard time to?

With MCR I think I’d be best friends with the Ways because they are super fucking geeky. With The Flash I’d wanna be friends with Cisco because he’s cute and geeky too (I love him so much). Basically any character that’s geeky, I’d wanna be friends with. (or, like Klaus, someone who could give me style tips and make me laugh).

In general, I’m not a person that gives a hard time to others and I’m pretty bad at practical jokes and such, so I’d leave that to them to pick and I’d go along with it (as long as it was all harmless of course).

Other stuff. I started my first omegaverse fic the other day. It would be up sometime this week. I’m a little nervous about it being my first, but I’ve read a few lately so... I hope I have a decent handle on it.

One of my kinkmeme prompts has gotten a fill and I seriously squeed when I woke and saw it. I’m gonna read once this is posted now I’m more awake.

I was gonna watch the tutorials about revision this morning but mum needs to pop to the doctors since she can’t get through on the phone (unless she tries again). I’m also sat here listening to Ray’s album and unf, it’s so good.

Yesterday morning started off rough, because I had a dream that involved Nat. I dunno what prompted it, but she turned up on my door out of the blue, wanting to (apparently) make up, but it ended in a fight over why she screwed me over in the first place. The details are hazy though. Does it mean something? I dunno.

Thankfully Heather was around through the day to distract me, she’s good at that. Also I finished Enterprise season 3 and started and completed Far Lone Sails which I got the other day as a thing for subscribing to Xbox live network. It was pretty good, though the end was so sad and it was kinda... vague (no tutorial, no clear explanation for what was happening).

I got tired early though and started up Taskmaster again before sleeping.
