On Saturday night my focus was too off to watch anything or fic so I decided to put on a Who audio I got from the Easter sale. I decided to start the Classic Doctors New Monsters set I got, which is the second volume of the series. As the name implies the series has classic doctors up against new enemies so this one has the Vashta Nerada, Racnoss and Carionites.

The first audio, which I’d already heard cause it was a promo with the who magazine awhile back, was Night Of The Vashta Nerada. It’s a solid story with the fourth doctor alone helping a team find out why workers at on an amusement park suddenly went missing. The team is a pretty good one (there is one really unlikeable one but that’s absolutely intentional) but I think what lets it down is the fact the Vashta are a very visual enemy (have to count the shadows to see if they’re around) and that’s a thing that doesn’t really translate to audio.

Sunday I watched the next two eps of The Residence (so eps 3+4) and I continue to really enjoy it. I’m still not sure who actually did it as there’s been a few red herrings so far. But damn I really do not like that social lady.

Then in the night I decided to watch a film on Amazon and settled on The Last Voyage Of The Demeter. It was a pretty good film, though of course I was sad about the poor dog. Of course the central thing of it did feel like a problem. So dracula charters a boat to take him to England, he has one person he had bought along to drink from but then starts killing the crew when they find her. He does realise that a ship needs a crew to function right? Like they could have abandoned the ship in daylight (which, apparently, no one even things to do) or he could have killed so many that the ship could just end up drifting of course and then he’d be utterly fucked.

Today I finished the last two eps of the first arc of Andor and, yep, those rebels Andor ended with are in total morons. Like they had no clue what they were doing, started shooting each other, had a game of Star Wras rock paper scissors and then got attacked by a creature which meant Andor could escape.

Huge kudos though for the design team for the Chandrillian wedding because damn. All the sets, the costumes, coming up with an entire culture and customs. That’s super impressive. The last ep was such mood whiplash though going between the wedding, Dedra meeting Syril’s mum and then imperials acting like utter assholes (including the assault scene).

Then I was finally able to finish up on Echoes Of Wisdom. Turns out the fight I thought was the last wasn’t the last (it was an echo Zelda) but this time I was able to beat it, go into Null’s body (a level that could’ve been a lil longer I thought) and then beat Null which I managed to do in one try, yipee! So now that’s done but ahh the end was sad with Tri going away but at least it seems, from the credits, that Conde’s brother is coming home.

Now I’m gonna bundle up a bit cause this is the busy week. There’s mums birthday tomorrow, voting on Thursday, then Star Wars fortnite on Friday, Free comic book day/sea life on Saturday and Star Wars day and dnd Sunday. So busy week, lots going on so I’m thinking next week I can do things I’d hoped to do, namely finish Stranger Things and get back to American Horror Story.

So today I was able to swing round and get a copy of the biopsy results. (I’d intended to go yesterday, but between the weather being bad and waiting for a delivery I couldn’t go.) There’s something about having it in black and white that makes it somehow more real. Seeing the words that it’s benign and completely removed is such a relief. (It was a histiocytoma)

However it’s also a bit annoying as it also says that the specialist ‘made it clear’ on the phone all the nature of what it was and that it was ok which, no they absolutely did not. But eh. It’s done now and hopefully that’s it.

Yesterday while waiting on the delivery (some stuff for the girls) I did a little more on Echoes Of Wisdom, mostly doing the Eternal Forest (and meeting the deku tree!) and chasing down the null echo of Zelda. I tried to do the fight and it was a slog and I died, so I tink I’m gonna do some sidequests and get more smoothies before trying again.

Sleep Token are also being cryptic and teasing… something. This is my first time being around for this from them and it’s strange. There’s a website, with a mysterious code which someone worked out is linked (along with co-ordinates they found) to something at a place called Shugborough, a place I remember going as a kid. I’ve no idea what it all means, but putting in the code meant I got sorted into House Valerian which… who knows what that means? I like the strange crypticness.

I found I’ve missed book reading. I did consider starting Flight Of Icarus, even bringing the book closer, but instead decided to finally finish the lil booklet that came with j-horror rising, which was pretty interesting though I do think I should have noted down the other films that were mentioned as I went along. I might have to go back through it and do that. (I did recognise a few of the films mentioned in the Horrors Greatest ep) I really do hope arrow do another similar boxset,

Today Tubbo posted a lil video on things for the coming Tubbathon and ahh I’m excited, there’s gonna be more No Dice, plus a version of Taskmaster with streamers (which I’m so excited for cause you know I love Taskmaster) and he has some more surprises coming. I do feel so bad for him though, he did record stuff to do an ‘epic trailer’ only to accidentally format the card when he was about to edit it losing it all.

And speaking of No Dice the signed postcard I won came! It looks so pretty and everyone of the main group signed it, yay!

(Now if only Seapeekay could finally sort the things he’s meant to send out)

Also there’s gonna be a new Christie adaption a week on Sunday, of Towards Zero. It’s one of the ones they turned into a Marple (despite her not being in it) so I’m curious to see how this one is gonna go.

Tonight I wanna try and work on something, cause I’ve been itching to write but every time I try I intend to I either get distracted, tired or the words don’t come which is a pain. No doubt the same will happen here which ugh.

Oh! I watched episode 5 of Stranger Things a few nights too and I’m glad we finally meet the ‘friendly orderly’ (damn why are there so many hot guys this season?) and the Creel house is so creepy, like peak haunted house vibes. I might see the next ep before the weekend is out but I’m not sure when. I also wanna watch Uzumaki finally (again before the weekend is out) and I’m sure there’s something else too.

I’m sure I was gonna say another thing but it’s gone out of my head, oop.

Last night I ended up watching The Masked Singer final which was pretty good. Danny from Mcfly was the guest judge and he was pretty fun. Me and mum were right that dressed crab was Gregory Porter (she guessed him a few weeks back and I agreed). Continuing the music theme I watched a thing on bbc with music inspired by movies which was pretty good, I loved how utterly random it was. There was Madonna, Ella Fitzgerald, Lady Gaga, Bannanarama and a few others I wasn’t familiar with.

Speaking of music my recently played songs are Running Up That Hill (which I know I’m not alone with after that Stranger Things ep) and fields Of Elation which is a Sleep Token song from their first ep which I’d not heard until last week (which is here on Spotify). Fields Of Elation is just… I dunno, but you can just feel the despair in Vessel’s voice. I dunno what it says about me that I’ve been listening to it so much but it just makes me… feel.

On the other hand Running Up That Hill… I kinda was under the impression it was about exchanging places with someone that had died you know? And then I read something on tv tropes and then listened to the lyrics and it’s very much… not.

Anyway last night I kinda went drained and didn’t watch anything or game. Then this morning I woke up in a bad mood again which, ugh. I wish my brain wasn’t like this. It evened out a little over the sad, mostly morphing fro annoyance to the vague sadness that’s plagued the past days. Which ugh.

I did watch Ghostbusters Frozen Empire, which I picked up when we went to Birmingham a few weeks back. I’d wanted to get it after seeing Afterlife over Christmas so thoughts under the cut.

Today I also built a lil Lego set I got before I was sick. It’s a valentines set, with two lil hedgehogs and it’s pretty cute. The base of it and the mushroom are both shaped like hearts which is a cute feature.

Then I finally went back to Echoes Of Wisdom and I ended up doing the Holy Mount Lanayru temple. But man I felt so hard for poor Condè I hope his brother comes back (either as a side quest or in the end credits). I did like how the temple was a mix of hot and cold, that was pretty clever. Next destination is to the ‘eternal forest’ which I suspect may then lead to the final boss (or give something to beat them) but I guess we’ll see.

Tonight’s plan is… I dunno, it depends on my energy which feels a bit low. I do wanna do ficcing, 59 look for the phone, or some on ESO abut honestly? I dunno.

Tomorrow (or Tuesday) is likely Stranger Things, though which day depends, again, on my energy and mindset.

So this last night I watched the final J-Horror Rising film which means thoughts ahoy!

Noroi: The Curse - 9/10

Premise: Noroi: The Curse is a chronicle of paranormal investigator’s investigation into a series of supernatural incidents.

Ok that premise is VERY vague, even more so than for Persona. However I think it’s important that if you watch this you go into it as blind as possible. (Which is easy cause the fair is fairly obscure, but it is on shudder in the US as well as this boxset.) As such these thoughts will also be more vague and general for this reason.

Like I mentioned before about J-Horror Rising, this is the one film on the boxset that I’d seen before and I consider it alone being worth picking the boxset up. I watched it first as a download (I dunno where from or why I got it) and then years later when it was on shudder uk (though alas it’s left).

The film could be best described as a found footage, since most of the sections are the investigator and his cameraman on their investigation. However the footage has been edited together (along with other footage) by the characters themselves into the titular documentary (apart from the opening and closing minutes). As such it has a feel of an actual documentary, complete with dates showing a timeline and captions when people are introduced (though not always translated alas, so I assume they’re names).

What Noroi nails is the sense of dread that happens throughout, especially as it gets more clear that something absolutely wrong is happening. There’s also a few moments towards the start that you think ‘wtf is this?’ But the reasons for their inclusion become more clear as it goes on. Of course there are things that don’t get answered, but that’s part of how good it is.

I’m curious if anyone else has seen it and what your thoughts are if you have.

There’s a bunch of special features for it (including 13 !! Deleted scenes) so I’m gonna check those out later tonight.

However with Noroi itself watched that completed my watch of the J-horror Rising boxset. Overall I think the boxset was pretty good. I can see myself watching most of them again at some point in the future, bar Inugami. But hey 1 film that I didn’t like out of 7? (Well 6 cause I knew I loved Noroi) I’d say that’s pretty good.

I really hope Arrow does another boxset like this, because it was so nice seeing these films get a release and directors being glad that they’re seen for more people.

The past few days have continued to be fairly low energy, not helped that it has suddenly gone really cold. Yesterday morning I woke, looked out the window and there’s snow. And, while it’s pretty, it means it’s suddenly gone so chilly which… ugh.

Yesterday was spent waiting on the mystery package which came pretty late but turned out to be taffy someone got me as an early Christmas present, yay!

I also did a little more on Echoes of wisdom and I did the eldin rift. The Goron’s are so cute and I love Ugh I did feel so dumb, not realising I could lift an an echo with wings to use it to fly until pretty late. Oops. I did a little today and met some deku shrubs, who are so adorable. I thought it was sweet they said they found some cotton candy… only I don’t think that’s what it is…

I’m hoping the iffy, hazy feeling doesn’t stay and goes away before the gig next week. I’m also not looking forward p to mums friend coming Saturday.

Tonight’s plan is to watch the Noroi special features and maybe start Alan Wake 2, but we’ll see what my energy/mindset is like.

So the past few days have ended up being draining which is mostly due to Thursday. It’s time for Naryu’s annual jabs. The trouble has been on Tuesday night we found out the phone died so we couldn’t just call up and book, so the plan was to just go and turn up (I secretly hoped it would rain so it could be delayed a few more days). However mum emailed them in the morning and managed to get us a slot but only told me an hour before, so there was no time to eat and we just had to go.

I assumed it’d just be in and out (and I could check for Halloween stuff in m and s and check for SFX in sainsburys) but alas that didn’t work out.

Not cause of the check up which was a relief. This time she was fine and had no issues, but mum decided ‘since we were there’ to see if she could get a grooming appointment in the attached groomers. And they could do it right then. So now instead of just coming home we had to stay there for 2 hours which was far from ideal.

We went in tk maxx and, disappointingly, the Halloween section is now basically nothing already. The display upstairs is now Christmas which is annoying so all there was now was one shelving unit by the stairs, ugh. Then we went to sainsburys and I got a lil Lego set (a Jurassic Park one, with the jeep Nedry steals and crashes with the dino he encounters) and got the nightmare before Christmas tote they have. I went in m and s and they don’t have Halloween food but I did get the ghost train tin.

Of course when we got Naryu they said there was an issue cause they found fleas so mum panicked and got some flea stuff and then as soon as we got home insisted on doing it. Note at this point I was drained (both in terms of tiredness, hungry, socially and money wise) and just wanted to flop and rest. It didn’t help she told me to stay in the kitchen with the girls while also complaining with she was doing it alone.

We left at 10 and I wasn’t able to sit back down and eat until almost 5, which was annoying. At least the Agatha All Along ep was really good, as they are and it even included a new version of the song.

But ugh that whole thing really drained me. It didn’t help on Friday a man came to sort the phone and then Saturday mum’s friend came (though at least I didn’t have to go to town, though I had wanted to this time).

Sigh.

So continuing on from the last post vhs thoughts. I had hoped to watch 99 and 85 before Friday but alas I couldn’t watch 85 before Beyond like I hoped.

VHS 99

Segment 1: 7.5/10
Segment 2: 7/10
Segment 3: 7.5/10
Segment 4: 7/10
Segment 5: 8/10

Overall 99 was really strong I thought. Instead of a traditional wrap around there was stop motion shorts which were well down but led into the fourth segment. I did love that the fourth one also utilised a gorgon and I feel more things should have Greek mythology based horror (and Egyptian too).

Then on Friday there was the new VHS! VHS Beyond. I did almost watch 85 on Friday before it. But decided to just dive right in. (Thoughts under the cut)

VHS beyond
Wraparound: 8/10
Segment 1: 8/10
Segment 2: 9/10
Segment 3: 8/10
Segment 4: 8/10
Segment 5: 8/10

I was gonna watch 85 last night but might tonight or tomorrow.

Friday I was able to get back on Echoes of Wisdom and I went to Jabul Waters because I’m a sucker for Zora stuff.

Other gaming thing I’ll have to speed run the fall guys and Fortnite passes cause I didn’t realise they were almost over but both have spooky ones coming up. Fingers crossed I can do them (though I’m annoyed at Lego fortnite as I lost my inventory pack and can I find it? No cause the marker isn’t working for some reason)

Last night my mood went down really hard which was so annoying and that continued to this morning. It was was so annoying. Is this a sign more downswings are ahead? I hope not. I’m just gonna have to try and distract myself from them which… ugh..

Thankfully it eased up for todays dungeons and dodongos though t was annoying that both the laptop needed updates and the lamp next to the bed seems to have messed up so I couldn’t use the cam. The session was good though it does make me wanna go on Majora’s Mask again (is it on the switch’s 64 thing?). Also I noticed the small Ranboo particle is awol and I couldn’t find it when I searched so I have no idea where it’s gone and it’s gonna bug me.

Other good things. I won a Ranboo particle tee on their stream the other day so that should be here in a few days (it’s already in the country) and I had a Magnus Archives tee with the fears come (cause it was on sale) which looks so pretty.

It’s two weeks till my birthday, which ugh. I’ll probably just flop with cake and dnd.

Next weeks spooky stuff plans:
*Finish reading Rogue, start I Want That Twink Obliterated
*Start Stranger Things season 2 finally
*Get back to Song Of Horror (or some other spooky game)
*Watch Smile on Netflix and Uzumaki on shudder
*Start the horror baking thing on Amazon prime (I’ve forgot the name)

I’m sure I was gonna post something else too but it’s gone out of my head.

So it’s time for another monthly round up. The time sure has flies. I’ve something for most categories though some still are lacking sadly. (Again, mostly due to health stuff.) So again, no fic which is annoying, as well as no graphic novels (I intended to read the Dead By Daylight one, but the weekend was so dark) and no who audio (although funnily, I did listen to one this morning). I’ve also been chipping away at Rogue though my rough sleeping has meant I’ve lacked the focus to read more (which sucks!)

However good things! I’ve finished a bunch of things! The Magnus Protocol season 1 (bar the epilogue), Star Wars Outlaws (like I said it’s so fun!), Tears Of The Kingdom (finally! More on that later) and the Mallorca Files (fun as always). Also I finished the Ju-On boxset and the physical VHS films (again more on those later). And, after months of lack of focus, I’m back to watching things on shudder, and not just for VHS! The first Horror’s Greatest is fun.

Plus I saw Alien Romulous, thoughts which I posted a few weeks back.

I still need to watch the rest of Futurama, though it has been really fun and I am continuing Agatha Alll Along (which may be my fave Marvel series) so woo.

I’m hoping this month I can actually write, I have ideas it’s just the will to actually write them and it hasn’t helped having distractions (and pain). Fingers crossed I have something this week!

Anyone onto Zelda thoughts which are twofold because I’ve been playing two games.

First is Tears Of The Kingdom. While I had finished the four main regions I still had a bunch of stuff to do. I had intended to goes back to it for months but just… couldn’t. Instead I did a lot of stuff over a few days. The stuff I did:
*Beat Master Kohga in the depths multiple times, including the last one
*Went to Hyrule castle after imposter Zelda
*Found all the tears (which was wild seeing all the cutscenes)
*Did all the stable quests with Penn
*Got the master sword
*found the sage of spirit
*went in the depths beneath the caste and beat Ganondorf

It was a lot to do in such a short time but I somehow locked in and did it. The fight with Ganondorf was really hard, but it was satisfying having all the sages join in. And the last part of the fight (while thankfully easier) was so pretty.

After the credits rolled and the last scene though I couldn’t help but think one thing: did Mineru bring everyone to the island with no way down??

(Of course I have many other thoughts and feelings so if anyone has played please lemme know so we can ramble)

But it was fun and I’m glad I was finally able to lock in and do it (maybe I should get back to skyward sword at some point)

I gave myself a break and then started the new game Echoes Of Wisdom yesterday. (Thoughts this time ipunder a cut cause early game spoilers. For reference I’ve done the first dungeon and on the way to the second, but got sidetracked)

Like I mentioned about I watched more VHS films and I did ratings on twitter as I went along so I’m posting the pm here like I did with the first one the other day. As I watched 2 and Viral it surprised me how few segments I remembered (1 vaguely from 2 and the wrap around and 1 from viral) whereas in 94 I remembered them. I guess it’s cause I’d seen it more recently than 2 and viral.

VHS 2
Wrap around: 6.5/10
Segment 1: 7.5/10
Segment 2: 6/10
Segment 3: 8/10
Segment 4: 6.5/10

I’m glad that vhs 2 had more likeable characters than the first one, and I loved how inventive each of them are (even the second which was the most eh). I’d have rated the last higher if the poor pupper hadn’t got hurt (and implied died). My fav though is the one I remembered, Segment 3 (Safe Haven) which is just so well done and it’s a bold choice for the series to have a subtitled segment so early on.

VHS Viral
Wrap around: 6.5/10
Segment 1: 7.5/10
Segment 2: 7.5/10
Segment 3: 7/10

Viral felt a bit more consistent in terms of quality, though it also had one less segment. (Apparently there was a 4th segment filmed and it’s included on the American release but not on the uk one, which annoyed me as soon as I found out.) The wraparound was a little too disjointed alas, but other than that the first two were really good concepts well executed and the last one was fun too.

VHS 94
Wraparound: 7/10
Segment 1: 8/10
Segment 2: 8/10
Segment 3: 6.5/10
Segment 4: 2.5/10

After the first three films the series changed its format so every segment is set in a particular year (though after three of those the format has seemingly changed again though time will tell if it’s a one off). This one is set in 94 and the first two segments are really strong ones. (The first one especially providing a nice contrast with th documentary style of viral’s first one). However the last two segments are lacking to me. The third, while clearly well done, just didn’t hit with me and the final segment was just so… ugh. (Though maybe it’s cause of the content of it) but the wrap around was pretty good.

I might watch the next one tonight or tomorrow, ish time for the new one on Friday (which I’m hoping to watch release night)

Lastly it’s October 1st, so that makes it officially start of spooky season! I hope everyone has done something spooky today. The Who audio I listen ed to this morning was kinda spooky, then I have the Chucky season 1 finale tonight though boo sky mix at not starting season 2 next week.
shadowhive: (Cinnamoroll Spooky boy)
So to start the post, as is tradition now, a health update.

So the thing on my back is gone, but the place where it was is still sore and occasionally hurts. I have to still be careful stretching to grab things and sometimes have to lay on my side, but at least it’s less than the thing was. Alas though I’ve had headaches instead, which is likely bought on by the recent bad weather (including a thunderstorm on Saturday) which is annoying.

But anyway, onto other things.

A few days ago I had a delivery, which turned out to be the kickstarter book I backed: I Want That Twink Olbliterated. It’s a sci fi anthology about twinks in various kinds of trouble so I’m looking forward to checking it out over October. I now have a total of three recent books to read after Rogue (alas my focus was off). Other than this there’s Shredded, another horror anthology by the same person that did one I read before and liked, as well as Death In The Stars a Doctor book written by Bonnie Langford herself which sounds intriguing. I might do the anthologies first, reading one a day but we’ll see.

I don’t think I’ll be doing kinktober this year. I still have some holdovers from last year I’ve not finished which I want to. But the bigger issue has been my focus being off and having a major lacking of creativity lately. It’s super annoying but.. ugh. I had considered doing spook me, but again the lack of focus/creativity (plus pain) meant I never did. I might do something along those lines though (likely based on the latest Set It Off song, though annoyingly it has no video). I’m hoping to have something done before the week is out but it depends on my focus.

Last week Agatha All Along started, so I decided to watch and it’s really great so far! The first ep plays out like a Wandavision ep (being a spoof of a detective story for a large part) but damn that ending. That Rio and Agatha fight was one of the most homoerotic fights I’ve seen in awhile! (And I love ‘teen’ too, though I don’t get why they’re concealing his name so much when it’s obvious who he is). The second ep was fun with Agatha getting the coven together and I’m really looking forward to tomorrows ep. But already I feel it’ll be my fav Marvel show.

I’ve also managed to finish season one of the Magnus protocol and damn, that ending left me with so many questions (though was so good). I wonder when we’ll find out what the protocol actually is though.

Speaking of finishing things I finished the Ju-On boxset. Ju-On: The Grudge 2 felt like a more cohesive story than the prior entries, though it also had three things that were less scary more ridiculous which took me out a bit. White Ghost and Black Ghost were each also self contained things, being completely new curses which I think worked really well for the most part. (Though the white ghost wasn’t so much scary as… I dunno the face looked so wrong). Like with watching the Ring box set it’s made me wanna watch the remake ones so I might have to do that at some point.

Because of Outlaws I ended up watching Solo on Sunday and it’s still so fun. I really do love it and think it’s a shame we didn’t get more young Han and especially young Lando (please sort the promised film/series Lucasfilm).

Speaking of Outlaws I played it a bunch lately and completed the questline with Qi’ra, got immense feels for ND-5 and then somehow got to last story quest so I did that. I could kinda see some of the end coming but not completely so was still surprised by some of the twists. But damn I really did love it. It was a lot of fun and I’ve come to really love Kay. Towards the end I couldn’t help but think of Qi’ra’s quote about Han, that she knew who he was and that he was ‘the good guy’ and that really applies to Kay too. The way she was just determined to help save her friends at the end, yeah that shows who she is. I hope we see more of her (there’s at least two dlcs at least) and I hope there’s merch too.

Today I finally, finally, got back to Tears Of The Kingdom after months of saying that I would. I ended up achieving a fair bit already today: I beat Master Kohga three times (including what seems to be the last time), healed the Deku tree, retrieved the master sword and I ended by landing at Hyrule castle. The new game is coming tomorrow but I’m not gonna start it until finishing Tears and I feel close to. (I fully expect Hyrule castle to be the first part of the end game, followed by whatever is in the depths beneath it).

Then tonight I finally started my VHS run with the first film. As the film went on the segments improved, with the last one being my fav (due to how effective the haunted house/possession was). But some parts were a lil rough. The guys in the wrap around were so unlikeable from the start and there was so many instances of guys just being dicks. Im looking forward to watching the others though (I’m hoping to watch 2 tomorrow and viral Friday) cause I know it does improve as it goes on. But I guess we’ll see.

VHS overall ratings
Wrap around: 4/10
Segment 1: 6/10
Segment 2: 6.5/10
Segment 3: 7.5/10
Segment 4: 7.5/10
Segment 5: 8/10

But I’ve rambled a bit so I’m gonna head off and flop.
shadowhive: (Link/Sidon The Turning Tide)
Now it’s time for a collection of other things, that didn’t fit in the gig post.

First off, I’ve finally started to watch American Horror Story. It’s been one of those things on my to watch list forever but I’ve never gotten around to it. Last week my friend mentioned they were going to start watching it so we decided to watch it together.

And damn. I’ve only gotten to Halloween part 2 so far (which I watched Friday night) but already it’s so so fucking good. I have so many thoughts and questions and theories, which I’m source will be proven right or wrong when we get back to it. My favourite character so far is definitely Tate. But damn there are so many red flags about this house (as pretty as it is) that the family must be colour blind to wanna stay. (And why does Vivien not question the sudden gazebo?? And why is Moria the only ghost so far that has two forms??)

I’m hoping to get back to it later, though it really depends on my energy cause it’s took a nose dive (put a pin in that, we’ll come back to that later).

Also on Friday the QSMP had a finale event which maybe canon? Maybe not? The horror elements of it was a pretty cool concept though it ran much longer than expected.

But damn it ending made me so sad. It’s been so sad to see the qsmp take such a nose dive these past months. I really think purgatory started to kill interest on the creators side, cause it killed off so much lore the creators made and then most never recovered. Then the server reset did more damage. Then it came out so many people behind the scenes were being screwed over in various ways (seriously the egg actors should have been better treated and paid from the start and it’s fucked they weren’t, especially the hours they worked).

On the other hand despite the qsmp’s failures it was also a success in what it set out to do. It connected communities and made friendships between people that would otherwise never have met. I’ve certainly learned of a lot of people from it and I really hope there’s a follow up to Cellbit's Quarentena that he did with other members.

But damn it has been so sad.

Anyway onto Who since I watched the newest ep this morning (thoughts under the cut).

Also today was the reveal that there’s a Lego Zelda set! For months it had been rumoured that it was coming and I did think it was strange to set with the deku tree of all things, but damn the execution of it. Like there’s lil deku babas, the deku sprout, link’s house! The ocarina of time! Koroks! Hestu! And there’s three Links and a Zelda. And the pics have hints to so many other things too!

It’s a two in one set, which is again an interesting choice, so you can have either the Ocarina Of Time Great Deku Tree or the Breath Of The Wild version. On the one hand the OOT one looks nice, especially from a nostalgia standpoint. However the Breath Of The Wild one does look more asethitically pleasing (and the Koroks!). So I’ll probably go with the BOTW one.

I was so excited by the announcement I decided that it’d be the ‘big set’ I’d get for my birthday/Christmas and then mum decided to be so bitchy it killed my excitement completely (and drained me) that I think I’ll just get it for myself.

(The bitchiness in question is behind the second cut because ugh).

shadowhive: (15 Hot)
The past few days have been pretty low energy, a mix of tiredness from Saturday, slight depression and feeling woozy. The latter I’m fairly sure is because of the new meds, my stomach really disagrees with them so I might have to change them again. I have got a blood test booked in so I’ll bring it up then.

Also ugh mum’s been grumpy and bitchy, which hasn’t helped. Plus the weather has suddenly gone warm.

Good things, the Lego order came (and the second came last, it was meant to be on back order till next week so I was surprised it showed up yesterday. I’ve built the droideka, which looks cool and the Trade Federation Troop transport (which I’m glad I decided to get the threshold for) and the lil AAT is cute.

The new radio times had preview descriptions of the new series eps so I had to pick it up. From the descriptions I’m most excited for three eps: 73 Yards which is described as folk horror, set in Wales and has a witchy character. Rogue, which lets be honest we’ve all seen the trailers and the sexual tension between 15 and the titular Rogue. Finally there’s The Legend Of Ruby Sunday, because it describes something from the third doctor’s time is coming back. I’ve no idea what, but, and I dunno why, but I’m thinking Axons. Though whatever it is I’m excite.

Though no I’m not watching at midnight I’m watching it on tv.

The other thing has been the Eurovision semi finals which, yeah, I did watch and there were some really good parts (that I was going to mention) but honestly the day has soured me to it because honestly the Israeli delegation (who shouldn’t be there in the first place) have been causing even more trouble and it’s just fucking infuriating. It should have been easy to throw them out months ago, but no and now they’re just causing trouble despite no one wanting them there in the first place. It’s such a mess. I hope to fuck they don’t win because then they won’t be able to get rid of them.

I am back to thinking of putting stuff back on ao3 so maybe I’ll be posting again there in a few days, I do wanna get back to ficcing in general but my brain has gone blank and it’s been annoying.

1 - Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2 - I will respond; I'll ask you five questions.
3 - You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4 - You'll include this explanation.
5 - You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.

These are my questions from [personal profile] yarnofariadne. Most of which I can answer very easily.

1. What's your favourite Zelda game?

Majora’s Mask, easily. I just love how different is, with the three day cycle meaning that everyone has a set schedule and how there’s all these different things that you can find. The sidequests, the masks, the transformations, I love them so much.

As much as I love Breath Of The Wild (and Tears of the Kingdom despite not finishing it yet oop), I do worry that their focus on that type of Zelda means they won’t do anything like Majora’s Mask again.

2. What's the first video game you remember playing?

The original Super Mario Bros on the Nes. I remember coming home from school one day and finishing it set up on the old tv. I remember playing it (and duck hunt), even though it’s a vague memory now.

3. Top 5 songs that you feel represent you?

This is the hardest of the five questions. All of the others I saw and had instant answers, whereas this one I didn’t, even after some thought. The first one is the one that came to mind immediately, the rest came slowly. Be warned though if you’re looking for happy upbeat songs these are not it (though Lonely Dance is kinda?)

Set It Off - Lonely Dance

Some days I'm up, some days I'm down
Some days the world is way too loud
Some days my bed won't let me out
But I'm OK with missing
Out on the social anxiety

Waterparks - High Definition

I need to feel needed and I need it more than I let on
I'll be home just thinking about it, maybe call like I used to
But I'll just stay alone because alone is safer than with you

Weathers - Goodbye To My Friends

Are they better now
That I'm not around?
I hope they still think about me
Hope they still follow their dreams
Older now than when I left this town

James Marriott - Where Has Everyone Gone

Where has everyone gone?
Was I really not good enough for, good enough for you?
Can't you see what I've done?
Was I really not good enough for, good enough for you?

My Chemical Romance - The Ghost Of You

At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are never coming home, never coming home
Could I? Should I?

4. If you could be any species in the Star Wars universe, which would you choose?

I’d be a Nautolan. They haven’t been seen all that much in the shows/films which is a shame, but the main representative of the species is Kit Fisto who is the hottest Jedi. He just looks so cool! I’ve always been drawn to aquatic species and this is one, so it’d mean I could swim underwater as much as I wanted and see all the cool underwater stuff (though I’d not go deep, because I’m not insane enough to go into the depths).

5. If you could have any animal as a pet with the understanding that you'd have all the necessary resources to keep it safe, happy, and healthy, which would it be?

I’ve always wanted an axolotl they’ve got such sweet little faces, and I love them so much. However they’re not very pettable which is a shame. I do miss having Guinea pigs, I love their little squeaks. A sugar glider would also be cute, because they look so sweet. Or an alpaca or sheep cause they look so soft.

If you happen to see this post tonight and am in the northern hemisphere, go outside because there’s meant to be an aurora visible. I’ve not seen it yet but will be keep looking over the night.

So my mindset is starting to get a letter better, which feels good.

Slime story plushies that I ordered during slimes charity stream came fast, I did them after midnight Thursday and they arrived Saturday which was so surprising. They’re so cute and the moss slime is so soft and snuggly.

Speaking of soft and snuggly Midna has continued to be snuggly in the day (and night, she’s currently curled up against my leg) while Leia has been snuggly when I go to bed. Maybe Leia sensed my mindset and decided to be snuggly (Midna’s been consistently snuggly for awhile)

I have been watching and also playing things so under the cut is gonna be my thoughts on a few things. (TUA season 3 ep 1, Primeval, Talk To Me).

As well as watching things I’ve gamed a little. I’ve been on goat sim 3 on game pass, which is so funny and unserious. There’s been some wild stuff so far, like weird invading aliens (or robots), a giant tentacle creature and a quest from a hobbit house (called dilbo’s quest)

I finally went back on Zelda on Sunday too and… I have not continued any of the quests at all. I’ve just been exploring the depths and doing lightroots. I did intend on doing the main questline but I just got distracted by doing that and for what? I did save at lookout landing so next time i go on I will continue the quest… or get distracted again.

Then tonight I started Prince Of Persia The Lost Crown, doing the first level. And damn, why’s Sargon (the player character) hot? And was the prince flirting with him? Im gonna go on it more sometime but I dunno when.

But I’ve also got sidetracked by raid shadow legends cause of Seapeekay doing a sponsorship so I’ve been trying to do the quests for it (at least the ones that are doable for free) and I’m at level 32 after a week. Damnit.

Anyway here ends the post. I might try and fic some more before bed but we’ll see. Then who knows what this week holds? I’ve gotta pick up mums meds but it depends on the weather which I has been pretty dicey. But other than that? I dunno.
shadowhive: (Lothcat Sleepy)
The past few days have been A Lot, both in good and bad ways.

First off the rest of Friday after the last post. I started the Lightning Temple and ai really loved the whole spooky vibe the place and I loved the mirror puzzles, though the whole place kinda felt I like a misnomer as there wasn’t really any lightning stuff. The boss definitely felt like the hardest so far so I’m glad I saved it till last. I’ve not been on it since but I wanna explore the desert properly now the shroud is lifted.

Also on Friday James’ album charted and it came 17th in the overall chart which is so awesome! I know it came even higher in downloads and such, but that’s still so cool!

Children In Need was that night too and I ended up enjoying it overall. My favourite parts were the puppet masterchef, race across Yorkshire and the Doctor Who scene, though I could’ve done without the nonsense that resulted from it. It was a flashback seen and featured Davros without his chair and there was comments that ‘this would be Davros going forward’ which…. Doesn’t seem right?

Speaking of Who on Saturday I watched The Underwater Menace. The animators did such a good job animating it and it looks great… but honestly the story is so wild and has so many elements it feels so bonkers. There’s Atlantis and fish people and for some reason the villain is a mad scientist that wants to blow up the world. I’m not quite sure what to make of it and I’m not sure anyone else does either.

The rest of Saturday was a mass of chaos. I ended up watching Shoto’s stream which ended up being a collab with Kuro and it was absolutely insane. I truly can’t describe how wild it was, but it did cause a new ship to be unlocked. Then there was an event with Seapeekay, which I didn’t really understand but Piso was on his team and that felt like it unlocked another new ship. (And then he made a speech calling for violence on the other team which came out of nowhere and felt like a fever dream.)

I’d seen there was a film on Film4 called Meander and it looked interesting from the description when I’d seen it on Amazon a few days before. At first it started promising, giving vibes of Cube, but by the end? It felt like I had no idea what I’d just watched or what the plot of the thing was even meant to be.

I managed to stay up for Karl’s new thing, The Lost Tapes which had an insane selection of people and the twist at the end made it worth the watch, though it’s a bit sucky having to wait two weeks.

Sunday ended up being an… odd day. My depression was coming and going in waves throughout the whole day so that was ugh.

Thankfully Dungeons and Dodongos came during one of the good spot. We’d got to the last room of a temple which ended up being a boss fight which ended up being so fun. I even ended up doing a cool thing (using water against one of the robots) which mostly only came to mind because I didn’t wanna use one of my spells and accidentally hit one of the others (or get shocked by hitting the robots).

After the depression of Sunday, Monday started with an headache, but at least James’ vinyl came. The day quickly became stressful though. Mum wanted something ordering so I went to get my wallet when we came back from walking Naryu…. Only the wallet wasn’t in my bag or on the sofa next to me. Cue panic, which stressed me out hugely and we just couldn’t find it.

We eventually did late at night and it was, for some reason, by my shoes, but the whole thing made me crash and resulted in the day being a write off which… ugh.

As a result yesterday I woke up feeling so rough, though that faded over the course of the day. I mostly stayed out of the way when my uncle came to go through some forms. That was good as it meant I could just lie in bed and watch Seapeekay’s pirates map stream which was fun.

As he ended it though he said he was gonna be away a few days as he was going to the Waterparks show in Birmingham tomorrow which was just… why if all the places did he have to go to that date?

It made me instantly consider going, despite writing it off before (due to being the same terrible venue as Lovejoy) though I’ve decided against it sadly. If I had someone to go with I’d probably have gone, but I have not despite to pass out alone (especially since I’ve not been 100% lately) and that, combined with how awful it was there last time in general means it’s best not to go. Which sucks but…

That night I watched Wrong Turn 2 with [personal profile] fleshdoll which was wild and fun. I’d seen the first one before forever ago, but not this one and it was… completely insane. Then we watched the new Sorry vid which was also insane but 8n a completely different way.

Today I woke up feeling a little woozy, which definitely made me think not going tomorrow was the best idea. So I think the rest of the day is finishing a fic, being bundled up and maybe watch The Five Doctors later.

(I still have some of the things from the last post to do, which I hope to sort this week)
shadowhive: (James Smolder)
So it’s been almost a week since the last post so it’s probably time for a new one.

On Thursday, as predicted, I ended up going to town with mum’s friends daysaver. I ended up getting two funkos from Game (a Horsea and Professor Huyang from Ahsoka) and a bunch of the new food from Iceland to try. I also posted one of the two packages, cause I still couldn’t find the one thing I was missing at the time. Eventually I did find it and the reason I couldn’t find it myself was mum had moved it somewhere I’d not have checked otherwise, ugh. So the second one is gonna be sent this week.

I meant to see Five Nights At Freddie’s on Friday, but ended up not because when I woke my stomach was funny. Ugh. I’m thinking it’s near the end of its run now, so it’s either see it this week or not at all. I think going to Cannock is definitely out because of the weather, so I’m gonna go to Birmingham (despite not wanting to be around people, because I feel I need get out of here). It might be tomorrow but we’ll see,

Friday was also the release of James’ album which is here on Spotify. I suspect it’ll end up being my second fav album of the year (after Sleep Token) which is the best compliment I can give an album really. I’ve ended up getting it three times because I have bad self control (the digital for the pre release tickets, but I’m frustrated that the files are formatted so oddly), the cd (cause I’d have preferred a physical one anyway and he only added it as an option later) and a vinyl because it came back in stock. So yeah, go listen! I think my fav no single is probably Denial, though saying that it does have a video now so I guess it is. I still need to watch that.

I also love whenever I play it on Spotify it immediately goes to Normal People Things.

That night I watched a Children In Need gaming thing, though I was a lil sad Tubbo and Seapeekay weren’t in it much, though at least Tubbo did get a lil interview towards the end. Seapeekay had mentioned he’d filmed some stuff on an earlier stream so I dunno if that’ll be up somewhere.

That night I ended up finishing watching the Enlightenment special features (poor Mark getting injured so badly during the wire work) and then I felt like watching something so I settled on Werewolves Within on Netflix.

I remember watching a trailer awhile back for it and thinking it looked good and the central concept is a good one. (A bunch of people in a small town are trapped and isolated there, but one of them is a werewolf.) It’s a good concept and I think it really could have been a great film if it used it well. The trouble is it kinda doesn’t know what its tone is. It ends up toeing the line between horror and comedy and not quite being either.

There’s also one scene just over midway through where it seems that that the werewolf attack is fake, which would have worked as a plot device… had there not been a werewolf attack about ten minutes before in front of those characters (where a guy loses his hand!) which couldn’t have been faked like that. The last quarter of the film kinda goes off the rails, which I’m not sure if that works for it or if it was a bit much.

This weekend I watched Hocus Pocus 2, which was better than I remember, and I got annoyed by the pad because the charger lead finally went on its las pt legs. I had a usb one I picked up awhile back, but that was shit and didn’t work so I had to order one (which thankfully does work great). Although now there’s another issue (which I’ll get to). So I had to hold the damaged lead at a certain angle to have it charging the weekend.

I did watch MCC which was Ranboo’s last which is kinda sad. I’ll miss watching Ranboo dressing up but at least he got to dodgebolt on his last one. My main worry is if making it his last was their decision or if their fan base pushed them into it, which wouldn’t be a surprise as their fan base is truly awful lately. Ugh.

That night after it I was lying on the sofa curled up and half watching something, when I heard the doorbell go off. I assumed at first it was from what I was watching but then went again. I looked outside and nothing was there no we don’t have a ring or anything with a motion sensor. After it went off a third time (this was at 1am), I checked that the doors were all locked and then went upstairs, hiding under the blankets. But ugh it was so creepy.

Sunday wasn’t too eventful, but yesterday I finally got back on Zelda. It’s been sucky that it’s took so long to finally get back to it, but now I’m exploring the Gerudo desert (and just got to the shelter in town). I’ll be honest, I saved it till last because I’m not too fond of the gerudo, but getting there it’s been suitably creepy and spooky that I’m intrigued. I might do some more after lunch.

We were meant to go to town yesterday, but now we’re going Thursday which is a bit annoying but ah well. Package will be sent then!

Yesterday there was an announcement for When We Were Young festival and it has Fall Out Boy, The Used and My Chemical Romance on the bill which feels like a fanfic and doesn’t feel real. I wonder if this means there’ll be new MCR music or if they’re like Funeral For A Friend, just touring. (And speaking of the latter I’m still curious about doing Slam Dunk but it feels like a pain unless someone else’s is going)

And I’m still annoyed that Waterparks is seemingly not doing a Europe tour for ‘years’ and the Birmingham gig is at that fucking horrendous venue. If it was anywhere else I’d go but I’ve no interest in passing out from the heat.

This morning I woke up and I’ve been annoyed, because the iPad is stuck in headphone mode and I don’t know why. it was working fine last night before I went to sleep, so I have no idea what the deal is. Why doesn’t it have a toggle to turn it off? So now if I wanna hear anything on it I need to use earphones until it sorts itself out or I find a fix. UGH.

Anyway, now I’m gonna have noms so here’s the things I wanna get done this week:
*Finish the fic I’m currently working on, which may end up being a two parter
*Actually make the Twitchcon post I’ve meant to do (though I’m sure I’ll have forgot half the things other than the pics)
*Watch The King’s Demons (and The Underwater Menace)
*More Zelda
*Start House Of Ashes
shadowhive: (Pac Asleep or dead)
Mood and energy have been a bit off these past few days. I’d do a locked post about it (especially yesterday’s) but in the words of Kylie ‘how do you describe a feeling?’ Here’s hoping this week is a bit better

(And speaking of Kylie I need to listen to her new album, I’m so behind on her stuff but it’s up on Spotify)

Anyway, onto the things of the past few days.

We watched Jigsaw a few nights ago and I remembered it being so much better than it was. Maybe it was to do knowing the twist and feeling like it was unsatisfying this time as a result. (It definitely feels like they had two concepts and tried smushing them together instead of focussing on one) Tomorrow I’ll be finally watching Spiral, which I’m excited for!

And then I’m hoping to see Saw X on Friday. I’m just waiting for the full cinema times to go live. Ideally I’d go to Walsall, since at least it’d be somewhere I don’t go often, but if not then it’s back to Birmingham. (Because the nearest cinema, if it’d have it, would only have it late and I don’t feel like walking from there)

Also that night was the new Taskmaster season and they seem like a fun bunch. I’m rooting for Julian already, but I have bad luck guessing who does well.

I’ve been watching the Seapeekay subathon on and off, though it finished today which is a shame. I think the best part ended up being the pirates smp stuff… though I wasn’t watching his pov for that. I ended up switching to Eret’s stream because they dressed up and had awesome fits both times (like damn!) The first out fit is already what she’s gonna wear in a pirate fic I started Tuesday. (Though I’m tempted to add a costume change so they wear the second! And damn I love the octopus necklace so much) I still can’t get over Seapeekay begging to be let out of a cage and praising Eret for murder, it was so…

After watching Poirot on Saturday (Cards On The Table, my fav of the last few we’ve seen), there was a new Who trailer! It looks really good and I’m so excited for it, though Donna better be ok by the end. And yay for Kate being back (how has she got a new UNIT tower already?) I’m surprised that they revealed that the Toymaker is back, especially since it he name wasn’t said in the trailer)

The main thing Saturday was the Paranormal Order stream Cellbit did. I’ve never seen it before so had no idea what to expect, but I had to see how Foolish, Quackity, Roier, Pac and Baghera would play in an rpg. I’d heard it was a big deal but I didn’t expect it to end up being the most watched rpg stream of twitch ever. I’d also heard it’d be long and it lasted about 6 hours oop. I only flagged a little towards the end, because it ended up being so engaging.

It went kinda as I expected (I thought from the synopsis it’d be Resident Evil like and I was right!) and everyone was so… it’s so wild to me that Foolish’s first impression to over 200K people was… him with a mouthful of dice (I’m not kidding) but it was so on brand. And PAC was cute and so was Roier and Q and it was so wild. Even wilder was it was billed as a one shot, but there’s gonna be a second part with them all in Brazil! Which is so wild but so cool. (I need to prepare)

Sunday was Dungeons And Dodongos, which was fun as always, though my laptop decided it didn’t wanna behave. It took ages to load up, then discord froze twice, then it screamed at me it needed an update… ugh. But it was fun! Ahno got to wildshape as a fluffy cat and there was this terrifying sounding storm and sand seals!

Leia also must’ve sensed I was off yesterday, because when I went up for the session she was on my bed and, instead of just booting, she stayed with me the whole time and was so cute.

Thankfully my mood seems to have improved which is good.

Today I finally went back on Zelda, though I’ve still been distracted from main stuff. I’m doing the stable quests with Penn and I did two more today (and helped korok friends). So now I’ve done 8 out of ??? Hopefully I’ll do more soon and actually get to the Gerudo dungeon.

Tonight I’m gonna start the Voyager finale, which is kinda sad the run on Pick is almost over (when the second part airs tomorrow). It’s been good watching it again, my favs are still the Doctor and Seven, who I both still love immensely. Oddly instead of putting something else on in the slot (usually they’d switch to another show) they’re just putting on Voyager from the start again Wednesday which is odd. At least there’s new (to me) Magnum PI to watch) but I’d been hoping they’d put something else on.

Then later I’m gonna watch the next Who disc (Snakedance) and maybe finish the new Ghost Files which I started last night but then started to zone out.
shadowhive: (Link/Sidon The Turning Tide)
So after the last post several stressful things happened so the weekend has been less restful than I hoped. First, pretty much as soon as I made the post, the net decided to do its thing of disconnecting on and off. It did it repeatedly, all afternoon. Naturally I was pissed, so there was more back and forth with talktalk and, again, they agreed to send someone.

When the net did stabilise I decided to check up on the Generation Loss jacket I ordered. It was due to come at some point this month and I saw some had got theirs, so decided to check. To my surprise tracking not only said it had been sent but that it was here when it clearly was not. Cut to me panicking, I sent them an email after hacking if it had been left outside and I was so worried that it had been put in a ‘safe space’ of one of the bins, where it could’ve been lost forever.

Thankfully they got back to me quickly, replying the next day with a link to the courier’s tracking and from their I was able to find the delivery confirmation pic and was able to find it (it had been delivered to the other number 1, ugh).

With that solved another issue cropped up, with the meter running out which meant I’d have to walk to the next village to top it up (ugh!). I still don’t get why they moved it from the place that was just up the road down there.

So on Monday I decided to do that, heading down just before lunch. I was a bit nervous as it was the furthest I’d walked in awhile and there was roadworks, ugh, but it went ok. Turns out it was worth the trip for another reason too, the spar down there surprisingly had the Mr Beast Feastables chocolate so I got one of each to try, (I tried one during brokenwood, it was ok but I’m not sure I’d get again, but maybe the others are nicer?) and I also got some cheap veg bags from the grocers, though it seems the best one was the long peppers.

When I got back I had a slight scare, because when I turned on the square I could see the front door was open, as was the gate. I panicked that I’d left it open until I got closer and realised that I’d missed the van outside. The engineer had come while I was out and she was running some tests and checks. She seemed more competent and friendly than the last few so hopefully it’s sorted out now. She replaced a few things so fingers crossed the issues are over. (We’ll see)

My head has still been a beat fuzzy on and off, and I’m debating doing a locked post to just get my thoughts out. Or maybe just… writing a document and not posting it or something. I’m not sure. I’m gonna try and do things to improve my mood and mindset but we’ll see if they actually works.

***

Other things now, because there have been some positive things.

I got back to Zelda last week, doing some more of Tears Of The Kingdom. I’m still not further along with the story but I’ve done some random things. I finished one of the labyrinth’s (and beat one of those constructs which was stressful), found Zelda’s horse (I didn’t expect it to be actually gold), awakened another great fairy and did the Tarrey town questline (I have mixed feelings about that). That last one did mean I got a house! I need to figure it out some more and I can tell it’s gonna be a massive money sink, but I stored some of my special weapons there so they’re not taking up space.

Despite intending to start Stray or Immortality, or to get back to Hi-Fi Rush, I didn’t do either of them. Instead I did a pair of quests on ESO, one with druids and one in a delve. I’m still so far behind and wanna finish High Isle before doing Firesong and Necrom so maybe I can do one quest a week so I can get there. (I’m still annoyed there’s no class change for the new role).

I didn’t do too well on the last Fall Guys Fame Pass. I finished the basic levels, but then they did a pan odd thing with dailies and I wasn’t able to get the higher tier things, boo. The new one is live today so hopefully that’s better and the dailies are back. I also need to finish speed running the Fortnite bonus pass, which is now only 8 levels to go. I want the pretty Lorenzo outfit!

I also managed to get a burst of inspiration, enough to finish off a fic I’d started forever ago so that’s done. Not only that but I posted it on ao3 as well, and not anon! So we’ll see if it gains traction there (I’ll never get why people are comment averse there but…). I meant to take a break from writing, maybe to get back to one of the many wips, but I’ve ended up instead starting a birthday fic for someone instead. I only started it last night and it’s already quite long and it was only gonna be a lil thing! (Though we’ll see how it goes if it gets anywhere)

(As an aside I’m so bad with birthdays and seemingly lost where I kept them so if you have a birthday you’d like me to know let me know!)

The new Doctor Who magazine Friday and I read a bit both then and yesterday, while the engineer was doing tests. Alas the season 20 boxset preview doesn’t have the release date which I hoped it would, but the poll results for the twelfth and third teeth Doctors have had some good eps through. The final 60th poll is here and I’m struggling to decide which five to pick. (I still think some of Ten’s eps were cheated)

I managed to watch Babylon 5 The Road Home last night, after having it in the Xbox for days and being distracted or tired any other night I tried to watch. It was actually pretty great! I’d been worried its run time was too short for the concept of the synopsis but it managed to work pretty well and looked great. It’s made me wanna watch the series again and it makes me wonder if there’ll be a follow up (especially because of that last scene).

The Used have announced a uk tour which includes a Birmingham date for once! So I might try and see them despite being a bit… eh with the new album (then again I only listened to it once, maybe I need to do it more?) I’ll have to look soon, now that the net is seemingly sorted. (I’m also pondering Funeral For A Friend and Waterparks since they’re not sold out, but I’m a bit uncertain).

Once this post is done I’m gonna watch Voyager, since I can’t watch tonight like usual cause of Gamescom. It’s the opening ep of season 7 so we’re in the home stretch of the show now! Then the food shop is being delivered and then it’s Gamescom tonight.

Then the week, as mentioned in last post, is full of stuff. Ahsoka, gamescom coverage, hopefully watching Saw III, the games night, Dungeons and Dodongos and I also wanna watch both Dungeons and Dragons and Resident Evil Death Island (since that arrived yesterday too). (And I’m sure I’m missing something really obvious) But we’ll see how much, if any, of those things I end up doing.

I had intended to p do some more posts for June something or June happy stuff but the heat has just been so overpowering it’s been hard to think(p (or focus, or put things into words) which has been so annoying.

The worst was yesterday when I had intended on doing a few things (some I was planning to do Monday but was too drained to) and instead I woke with a terrible headache. I stayed up for as long as possible and when it eased I came down… only for it to return again just as the food shop arrived. Pretty much as soon as everything was in I ended up going back up to lay down again.

Thankfully it eased up by the night and has, mostly, faded now but… ugh.

The weekend was when I was most productive, despite the heat.

I was thinking of seeing spiderverse Saturday but, again, there was thunderstorm warnings so I decided not to. Said storm hasn’t materialised but the air is hanging so it feels like one could happen any time. Maybe that’s what’s effecting my head. Anyway, instead of seeing spiderverse I ended up watching three films instead.

*Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull: The last of the Indiana films in the rewatch before we go see Dial Of Destiny (hopefully Saturday). I still enjoy it, I think it’s fun and entertaining. I don’t quite get why people hate on it as much, even though Mutt is kinda annoying. I do wonder if some of the ending is gonna be undone though
*Entrapment: Which wasn’t something I intended to watch but it was on tv and figured it’d be worth a watch. It was entertaining enough but nothing too special really
*The Mummy Returns: I wanted to watch this again after rewatching the first one a little while ago. Again it’s entertaining and fun but kinda… lacks something? I dunno if that makes sense. It also feels a bit strange in the opening backstory that the scorpion king and Anubis’ armies (why is Anubis an antagonist? I’m sure there’s a different Egyptian deity that actually is antogonistic, but I guess whoever they are isn’t as cool as ‘jacket headed’ warriors) and they rain destruction on to…. Vanish into the sands which feels kinda pointless. Anyway I’m gonna watch the third one at some point soon too (I dunno if mums seen it I know I have at least once). Has anyone seen the scorpion king films? Are they worth watching?

Over the last few games I also did a bit of gaming too.
*Genshin Impact: I decided to start it a few days ago and it’s pretty good, I’d resisted for awhile mainly because it was meant to be coming to switch (and the old pad couldn’t play it because of space) but after starting star rail I was curious so decided to try it. You can tell it’s by the same people that made star rail (the layout of the UI is the same, menus and such are the same) but in other ways it’s different (like combat being real time). It also feels kinda breath of the wild inspired (statues instead of towers opening maps up, wall climbing, a glider). And there’s also pretties (Kaeya is so hot!). So I’ve been enjoying it and I’ll definitely be going back on later
*The Chant: I had hoped to finish it by now but my focus hasn’t been up to it. I should finish it tonight because I only have one chapter to go. I’m in a bit of two minds about the game as a whole though. I love the concept and some of the creature designs are unique and there’s definitely some good ideas here, but in some parts it’s frustrating (like some of the fights and the lack of storage for crafting items, as well as how hard some are to find). I admit I’ve ended up using a guide (although amusingly there was a section where it was like ‘if you cross this wood plank bridge you will end up falling’ only I ended up to cross it fine and even got an achievement by sheer luck). I expect the last chapter will be short with just a last boss fight but we’ll see.
*Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom: I finally did another temple! I’d been slowly making my way up to the wind temple and got there on Saturday, ending up completing it which was pretty fun. Once it was done I ended up doing a bit of random exploring and I think this week I’ll do something else before heading to the next temple. I’m either gonna finally explore Kakariko or start the house quest line.

I also used some of the Xbox credit I’d hoarded to get stuff in the sale, both stuff from my wishlist. Sheepo, which looks cute and Song Of Horror, which looks and sounds scary. The later I’ll save for spooky season, becaus I think after The Chant I’ll need to do something else on the Xbox (maybe get back to Hi-Fi Rush, or Dreamlight, or ESO)

The Edge magazine I ordered came Saturday and I read the article on Still Wakes The Deep Sunday (one of the few things I did then) and it definitely gives off The Rig vibes like I expected. It’s quite an in depth article too while at the same time being careful not to actually reveal anything. It’s definitely gonna be something I get next year as soon as it comes out.

Monday I didn’t do much, though I did build up the Pikachu I got last week, which is very cute.

Today we walked the pup and saw a lil baby frog hop along the path, which we’d also seen the last time we went that way. I wish I’d got a pic but I had no pad today (and didn’t think to last time) but they were so cute and smol.

My head is feel a tad fuzzy, though not as bad as yesterday, so I’m gonna have some noms, hope it settles and, if so, do some things I was gonna do yesterday,
shadowhive: (c!Foolish Card)
Like I mentioned in the last post I decided to start The Chant last night. I picked the limited edition up when it was on sale months ago and then, other than installing it, did nothing with it. I kept meaning to go on it and got distracted by various things.

So last night I decided to finally start it. I played through the prologue (a flashback to an event in the 70’s) and the first chapter (set in the present day). As yet it’s mostly set up so it’s hard to judge, but it seems like an interesting concept. I wonder if the guy in the present running the retreat actually knows about what happened in the past and is trying to make it happen (which is some cosmic horror thing) or if what’s gonna happen is unintentional on his part. I guess we’ll see. (I was gonna do more tonight but I dunno if I will)

I woke up this morning feeling so rough, I felt like I was gonna be sick a few times but thankfully wasn’t. Thankfully it eased up after resting a bit, though it came back briefly tonight. I dunno what caused it, because it’s not as if I ate anything strange or anything,

Maybe it was to do with the storm that came today, because it was strong with heavy rain and thunder. Both cats had gone missing and I was worried they were caught out in it. Usually I wouldn’t worry about Midna but last night she was still outside so I thought it might be the case. (Especially since she seemed to be nowhere in the house) thankfully she was just hiding somewhere. Leia on the other hand was outside and had got soaking. I only found her (about 10 minutes before the Zelda dnd was due to start) when I went to the shed to check if she was there. Sure enough there she was, soaking wet, and I had to grab her and bring her in (much to her reluctance). I dunno why she has to be so incredibly stubborn like that.

Speaking of Zelda dnd, it was fun again. Damn I have to admire James and not just for his voice but how he just draws from everything (and the dialogue, damn). It’s honestly so impressive. It always makes me so excited to see what’s gonna happen next. (And yeah, Zora’s domain seems to be next so of course I’m gonna be excited for that too)

After not doing Zelda yesterday I did a little today and, after wandering around a bit randomly exploring, decided to actually head to Rito village to continue the story. Only, oops, all I managed was to arrive, do the shrine and meet the cute tiny Rito. I guess I’ll find out what’s actually going on tomorrow.

I checked the cinema listings for the local cinema again only to realise that spiderverse isn’t on this week like ithought so it seems this weekend might have been the last showing which is kinda sucky. But we’ll see. It also seems I missed out on watching the rest of the empty man, as it’s no longer on the all4 player. It’s also not… anywhere and I can’t seem to find it anywhere other than paid Amazon prime. There doesn’t even seem to be a physical version which is very strange. So I guess I won’t be able to find out what happens which is a shame.

I found out tonight that Lovejoy’s Isle Of Wight set had been recorded and at least one song would be on tv tonight. So I diverted what I planned to watch to tune in. Turns out one song from the set was on (The Fall) but damn it was worth it to see sweaty Wilbur (and it is one of my fav songs of theirs). I hope the highlight shows on sky arts show another song or two as well.

I did end up continuing to watch the rest of the coverage, which was mostly Robbie Williams’ set and damn, he can still put on a show. I’ve seen him a few times with mum and he’s always pretty fun and entertaining. I’m glad he played No Regrets, which is one of my favs.

I might do a stuff you love post tomorrow (probably an album one since I’ve thought of doing one for awhile) and then the rest of the week is kinda unknown. I wanna do more Zelda (of course) and more of The Chant, plus there’s LOTR coming to Magic Arena too. And we might be heading out though that depends on the weather and I’m sure there’s something else I’m missing too.

Yeah I’m definitely too tired for more of The Chant tonight, bleh.
shadowhive: (Ranboo Generation Loss)
The last few days have ended up being pretty tiring.

Tuesday was the library in the morning and I ended up taking the Dungeons and Dragons prelude graphic novel with me which I read while there. As a story it was ok, though I definitely preferred the shorter one with Xenk at the end (what? He’s hot and there was a tentacle creature). I ended up taking a Who magazine (the wrong one) and read some of that too.

The afternoon was the opticians appointment which ended up being annoying. They decided I needed to have drops and so I needed to stay there longer which was so annoying, especially as I took nothing to read or anything while I was there. They also made my vision blurry which was annoying on the way home. On the plus side though they’re sorting my glasses (and for free). But the time I got back I’d been out for over two hours which was ugh. (Plus I have to go back for another test in two weeks ugh)

Because my vision went blurry I didn’t do as much as I expected gaming wise. I did end up getting a vague semi fic idea which I did start, though we’ll see if it goes anywhere.I might do a bit more later. I did get so emo too over someone I lost which wasn’t good (and coupled with a trigger song on house of games the other day, bleh).

On Wednesday I put on my Generation Loss tee which is nice and comfy, plus it’s pretty and I also painted my nails gold to match it.

The new Doctor Who magazine came and it was thankfully undamaged this time. There’s a pride section (which I haven’t read yet) and the poll results for the fifth and sixth doctor’s. It’s strange how the results have pretty much remained static for the last few polls on each of them (and the sixth Doctor one feels so wrong, why is Varos so high?). The next vote is for the 10th and 11th Doctor eps, though the site is down. (And also there’s a hint a fourth Doctor character is returning??)

Also what came is the paperwork confirming we’ve changed Doctor. So I’m gonna make an appointment in the coming weeks, but not until my glasses are ready. (I’ve had so many bad headaches due to using old ones, or I assume that’s the reason, yesterday I had to go lay down in the afternoon).

The eyes aching has meant I’ve been listening to spirit box radio more and I’m 11 eps in (which is fast considering I started it in the weekend). It’s a strange mix of spooky and cozy and the vibe is very much Night Vale style but different. I’m enjoying it and I’m curious to see where it’s going and what’s going on.

Also because of the eyes I’d hoped to do other things but haven’t been in the mindset for them (like making the appointment call to see what’s going on, and looking into the next uni). It’s so annoying. Maybe I’ll do the latter tomorrow morning, but it depends.

While taking a break from Zelda I heard mum scream outside and I went running because I assumed she’d feel and it turned out instead she’d been spooked by a frog. He was a big boy and had moved somewhere to be sneaky. I hope he’s ok.

Wednesday night was Generation Loss which I ended up watching on browser on the pad (instead of the laptop cause it acted up, though it worked fine that way). The first ep ended up being much more goofy than I or anyone was really expecting. I’m not sure what to make of it exactly. (Though Sneeg was funny) and I think tonight’s is where the horror really starts because it has saw vibes from the trailer.

Kudos to Ranboo though, he got a second degree burn part way through the show and just… kept going. You honestly couldn’t tell anything had happened (I think the only hint was that he lay down different the third time but at the time it didn’t mean anything). I’m glad he’s ok but it’s pretty impressive.

Yesterday was largely a right off due to how bad my head was, which was so annoying. It didn’t help that mum went to get her meds before the chemist closed for lunch, but didn’t check when she came out and it turns out they got all the brands wrong. Sigh.

I’ve been doing Zelda on and off but I’ve not made much progress with… well anything. I ended up exploring the depths a bit (after resisting some because it’s scary down there) as well as going to the great plateau and sorting things there. So yeah I’m no further in the story or anything oops.

Today the new Weathers album came yay! So now that’s on the pod thing. I still don’t get how the title song isn’t actually on there but ah well. Alas the booklet doesn’t have new pics of Cameron to look at which is a shame too. Though the cover has the same energy as the Lovejoy one.

Tomorrow there’s a plant sale so we might check on that before walking the pup. We might also be starting an Indiana Jones run before the new one (I assume they’re on Disney+?) and other than that I dunno.

Next week I was meant to be seeing a friend but the trains are on strike again (with info on effected services tomorrow) so that, annoyingly, might be a wash. Which sucks.

Train strike

Yesterday went pretty well after the last post.

There was Dungeons and Dodongos (which is a name I still love) and we ended up doing a side quest which involved animated statues so it involved combat which I still have bad luck in. This time though everyone had bad luck! (I think we took ‘don’t damage the statues’ to heart) But hey at least we managed to disable them! And after switching to the dice that came with the starter set I got a Nat 20 (which may be my first? I’m not sure)

Note to self get the components for moon beam because I don’t think I have them. Double note to self do the bio of the character sheet. I keep meaning to but I’ve been so faily (and yeah I missed the tab when I was filling it out oops)

After that I went on Zelda and I did the water temple woo! It only took me a week to get even close to a temple Oop. But now I have a Sidon avatar following me and yeah it sometimes spooks me when he pops up. I meant to do some relaxing things on Zelda today but instead ended up down a royal escape tunnel that went on forever and went different directions (and had a stalnox and the soldiers armor set). Note if you go down there take hammers! I also met Tauro after that (so that’s two new hot men in this game already) registered a horse and did the last towers so the map is now revealed woo!

I dunno what I’ll do next on it so much intrigues me. Do I go back to the election in Hateno? Explore the ruins? Go in the depths? Go to tarrey town? Head to the Goron’s? I have no idea.

Last night I ended up watching The Sum Of All Fears on film 4 which was… ok. By the end two things bugged me. One that a nuke would go missing and no one would have made it a priority to find the thing. Second that the leaders of Russia and America were reason able enough to deescalate things. (It’s painfully obvious that’s not the case in reality but hey at least no one has used nukes)

I think Spiritbox radio may be my new comfort thing, because I listened to three eps yesterday (two in the morning one at night) and one this morning

Today I was surprised that the Generation Loss came! I love it, it looks so pretty and it even came in a zip lock bag with the logo! It was bought by the usual Evri lady and I should’ve asked where she’d been because of the recent trouble but it was food time so… but yay now I have the tee and I’m gonna wear it for Generation Loss on Wednesday (i still don’t know what it is but I’m excite)

I didn’t feel up to making the call again today but thankfully I was in a better mindset after walking the pup and getting the tee (and Zelda). I mention new music because I saw someone mention Sleep Token and I’d seen the name mentioned a few times so decided to put on their new album (I followed them in Spotify already but don’t know how)

I also listened to the new The Used album this weekend and I dunno. None of the songs really stood out on first listen other than Dopamine. But then again it might be because my mindset was off.

There’s been no call messing up the appointment tomorrow so I’m hoping it’s still there and glasses will be sorted. I’ll have to check the phone after the library. (And speakingmof books I found a book on the floor in the house, Evil Under The Sun, but I’m not sure where it came from and mum doesn’t seem to know either). I’m 10 songs in and I’ve really enjoyed it so far. So many songs seem to go in such… wild directions it’s hard to know what the next one will be. I mean one is called Vore! But I am enjoying it, I wonder what their other stuff is like?

(And also music related but I didn’t expect to find out on Jago’s stream Saturday that Seapeekay was in bands and they were actually pretty good! It’s a shame their stuff isn’t around though)
shadowhive: (Link/Sidon The Turning Tide)
Mood is slightly better but we’ll see. It’s still kinda annoying which is… argh.

Other things though.

There was a Dead by daylight stream thing on Friday which was about upcoming stuff. some is kinda vague but there is some cool stuff. The new chapter is called End Transmission and is the first sci-fi horror thing they’ve done and it all looks so cool! I’m tempted to pick it up when it comes out. The other thing (which was revealed earlier in the week) is that Nicolas Cage is being added to the game which is…. The most wildest thing. Sure there’s been stuff from other things (from films: Halloween, Scream and more, and games: the Resident Evil stuff). I need to go back on it more than just events it can be pretty fun but I’m not too good at it.

My Generation Loss founders tee (that I picked up last week) is already in the country and with a courier. I’d joked to myself it would be funny that it would come before the Generation Loss event and it seems it will, so I’m gonna wear it for it.

Yesterday I woke and felt a little better. It was sunny so we went to see the baby geese and then I licked some stuff up from home bargains (mostly cat food and sweets).

When we got back I put on Zelda and watched Ant Man and the wasp quantumania (thoughts under the cut)

Today I woke up, felt a bit bleh and I decided to do start listening to Spiritbox Radio. The first ep was fun and gave off spooky vibes, but also had Night Vale kinda vibes (to be expected being a radio show) and then the second one felt more like a Magnus Archives statement (seriously it would have been at home as one of those). I’m hoping others are more the former but we’ll see. It was also very British which is nice (mentions of tea, as well as sone guy being described like Phil Mitchell which was strange).

Tonight I might watch a film after doing more Zelda and maybe Fortnite. We’ll see.

Next week I’ve gotta make the call, hope that glasses get sorted and not delayed again and then Generation Loss starts yay!
shadowhive: (3rd Who's there?)
So I’m making this post on the documents thing on the pad while at the library, in between reading things because I know once I’m home I’ll be too busy flitting around to do this otherwise.

Yesterday I had planned to make the call about the appointment, but I woke up with a terrible headache and didn’t want to deal with it. I suspect it’s at least in part due to switching to the older glasses as my eyes have been achy too. It’s annoying that this happened at a time when I need to use them for Zelda (and Eurovision this past weekend). Maybe I’ll take a day off from Zelda just to use to the switch handheld for Fall Guys and Fortnite, because those do have events that need doing.

On Sunday I watched the first four parts of The Time Monster (until I got too tired) and then I finished it last night so now that’s the last ep of the Who Ray boxset watched. It’s one of those eps that definitely feels like it shouldn’t have been a six parter. So many six part episodes feel too long and this was definitely one of them.

It’s not that it’s a bad idea per se it’s that it feels like it takes a while to get going (perhaps the first part should have definitely ended with Kronos coming back like the Master hoped). Some of the ideas are interesting as are the side characters (including a shirtless Atlantean guy that was quite pretty) but some parts are less so. The Minotaur, for example, very much feels shoehorned in and is only a minor threat despite the billed up.

The presence of the Master definitely elevates the ep, as if it was someone else filling the role I don’t think it would’ve been as entertaining. But as a whole it’s just kinda… I dunno. It feels a bit forgettable?

(And reading the Who Ray magazine before this, which has the poll results from the third and fourth doctor’s, Time Monster comes in last)

So my ranking of the season now that it’s over is:
The Sea Devils
The Curse Of Peladon
Day Of The Daleks
The Time Monster
The Mutants

Also Who related we finally had a proper trailer for the specials just before Eurovision, there’s gonna be three and it gave titles and some new clips but no exact date other than Autumn, which feels so far away. It looks great though and I’m excited that Donna seems to be back in all three.

After writing most of this post I read Heralds Of Destruction which is the Who graphic novel I picked up at free comic book day and damn it’s so great. It’s like a love letter to the ThirdDoctor era (there’s references to at least half a dozen eps) and it captures everyone’s voices so well. I’m so glad I was able to get it

The Lovejoy ep is apparently at number 2 in the midweek charts in the uk which is so surprising to me. I’m so glad for them! Even if it drops (which it might) getting so high is still an achievement (I know Wilbur acts like he doesn’t care but I’m sure he does really).

And speaking of streamers doing things Generation Loss is next week and Ranboo put up another teaser but, as always, I’m still not sure what it means. It has analog vibes, but also Saw vibes and I have no idea what it’s gonna be. It’s on next week on his channel on the 24th, 26th and 28th.

I’ve done more on Zelda, still mostly shrines, towers and koroks but I did arrive at Zora’s domain last night so I’m close to seeing Prince Sidon yay! (Although I had to stop because my eyes were aching.) On the way to the Domain there were two things I saw written by him (there might be more) and one was about him meeting Zelda (which was sweet) while the other one was about Link and it was honestly so swoon worthy! He’s so sweet and in love and ahhh! I’m so excited to finally see him again!

We were meant to drop the paperwork at the doctors today but at the last minute (just as we were about to leave) mum decided not to which is infuriating, as mum kept saying we’d do it on a library day and now, apparently, there’s no time. So I guess we’ll be bringing it up a separate day.

After having noms the rest of the day is going be a bit tiring. I wanna do more Zelda, but I also wanna do the star path on Dreamlight Valley (to see if I can get more of the star path rewards since there’s only a day or so left, but I’ve got the main rewards already so I don’t have to do more) plus there’s the food delivery which is tiring and then there’s the French speakers being added to the qsmp tonight.
