shadowhiveNow it’s time for a collection of other things, that didn’t fit in the gig post.
First off, I’ve finally started to watch American Horror Story. It’s been one of those things on my to watch list forever but I’ve never gotten around to it. Last week my friend mentioned they were going to start watching it so we decided to watch it together.
And damn. I’ve only gotten to Halloween part 2 so far (which I watched Friday night) but already it’s so so fucking good. I have so many thoughts and questions and theories, which I’m source will be proven right or wrong when we get back to it. My favourite character so far is definitely Tate. But damn there are so many red flags about this house (as pretty as it is) that the family must be colour blind to wanna stay. (And why does Vivien not question the sudden gazebo?? And why is Moria the only ghost so far that has two forms??)
I’m hoping to get back to it later, though it really depends on my energy cause it’s took a nose dive (put a pin in that, we’ll come back to that later).
Also on Friday the QSMP had a finale event which maybe canon? Maybe not? The horror elements of it was a pretty cool concept though it ran much longer than expected.
But damn it ending made me so sad. It’s been so sad to see the qsmp take such a nose dive these past months. I really think purgatory started to kill interest on the creators side, cause it killed off so much lore the creators made and then most never recovered. Then the server reset did more damage. Then it came out so many people behind the scenes were being screwed over in various ways (seriously the egg actors should have been better treated and paid from the start and it’s fucked they weren’t, especially the hours they worked).
On the other hand despite the qsmp’s failures it was also a success in what it set out to do. It connected communities and made friendships between people that would otherwise never have met. I’ve certainly learned of a lot of people from it and I really hope there’s a follow up to Cellbit's Quarentena that he did with other members.
But damn it has been so sad.
Anyway onto Who since I watched the newest ep this morning (thoughts under the cut).
Thankfully cause of travelling and Slam Dunk I was able to avoid spoilers but I did see that it was a pretty polarising episode. Some people loved it and some people hated it. I can see why people could dislike it, though mostly I was the former.
The ep was marketed as a welsh folk horror so I was already excited for that. The first 10ish minutes focussed on that and I loved those vibes. I did expect the whole ep to be set in the Welsh village from the opening, so was a lil disappointed when Ruby left it and went home.
However I still liked the central mystery of the woman following Ruby, but the episode didn’t answer a lot of the questions posed by her, which I think frustrated people. Why was she always 73 yards from Ruby? What was she saying? Why did people got near her run away and hate Ruby? So many questions are raised and, while I think it can be good to leave some unanswered as a mystery I also do think that not answering at least a few was a bad idea.
The episode also raised a few other questions too. Like how did Ruby know to get into contact with Kate? I did love the scene with her as it shown just how powerful the woman’s message was to effect her and UNIT though again the question is why (especially the reveal at the end which I did suspect but also made the woman’s actions more puzzling). (Also Susan Twist appearing again and Ruby acknowledging seeing her this time was interesting and seems foreshadowing)
Then there was the political part of the episode which felt a bit out of place, it would’ve helped, again, if it was less ambiguous. Was the position really the Mad Jack hinted at by the villagers or was he just a regularly (albeit creepy and crazy) human?
But on the whole I do love the creepy vibes and I can definitely understand the decision to leave it as ambiguous as it is, even though I can also see it as being frustrating too.
Also today was the reveal that there’s a Lego Zelda set! For months it had been rumoured that it was coming and I did think it was strange to set with the deku tree of all things, but damn the execution of it. Like there’s lil deku babas, the deku sprout, link’s house! The ocarina of time! Koroks! Hestu! And there’s three Links and a Zelda. And the pics have hints to so many other things too!
It’s a two in one set, which is again an interesting choice, so you can have either the Ocarina Of Time Great Deku Tree or the Breath Of The Wild version. On the one hand the OOT one looks nice, especially from a nostalgia standpoint. However the Breath Of The Wild one does look more asethitically pleasing (and the Koroks!). So I’ll probably go with the BOTW one.
I was so excited by the announcement I decided that it’d be the ‘big set’ I’d get for my birthday/Christmas and then mum decided to be so bitchy it killed my excitement completely (and drained me) that I think I’ll just get it for myself.
(The bitchiness in question is behind the second cut because ugh).
So I told her about this at about 2:20, which was part way through the time slot for the food shop (2-3). Pretty much as soon as the words ‘this thing I’m excited for has been confirmed, so it’s what I’d like as my main thing this year’ she was like ‘oh I’ll show you things I want I’ve found on eBay.
Which you might think is not a problem except for several things.
1: a few weeks ago she ordered a necklace from there, on the promise that she would stop looking for other stuff. (The fact we’ve done this many times and keeps breaking the promises is why I had such trusts issues with her promises to do nothing when I was away)
2: I ordered a bag for her on Tuesday on the condition (mainly because of the festival) that she would not look at or show me any eBay stuff until the end of the month)
3: I was still tired from the trip and, again it was slap bang in the middle of when the shopping was due so she could have just… said nothing and bought it up at literally any other time
So I was already frustrated with her about it because of all of those things so then she shows them me and it just gets worse.
The first one was the worst of the bunch. Not because of the item itself, it’s pretty enough (they all were) but because it was an auction (which I have told her to avoid cause she gets pissy if I try and bid and she loses). Not only that but do you know when it ends? Friday, right when her appointment at the hospital for the first of her tests. How did she expect me to react to that?
Then the other three were all by it now’s, but all from America, which again I’ve cautioned about (especially when the last one I caved and sorted for her had so many additional charges on top as well). She’s said herself that she doesn’t wanna order something from abroad because of the extra charges and fees and yet she’s still done it.
And I’m at a loss because I genuinely do not know she expects me to react to her showing me these things. If I tell her she can’t have them (because they’re too much, because of the charges, because she promised me she would stop because she’s just had one) she complains. If I tell her she can, she complains. She says she wants my opinion but she always complains what I say and most of the time just flashes me them too briefly for me to form an opinion.
I’ve told her if she really wants one I’ll sort it when the bag money comes back (because I got charged twice which is something I really didn’t need in the week before slam dunk) but then she’s not to look again for the whole month of June (which ipwill last, I predict, single digit days). If she’ll take it uo is up to her but I’m so done with it.
It genuinely drained me so much (especially with the delivery coming and me lugging it all in) that I just went upstairs right after and just… laid in bed unable to do anything because I was just so… tired.
And damnit this rant has taken up most of the pst which I hate but it’s just so frustrating and draining and… ugh.
