Just us what?
May. 5th, 2026 06:48 pmBelated happy Star Wars day for yesterday! (Though I know people call today Revenge Of The 5th so it kinda counts)
I didn’t do much Star Wars related yesterday due to heading to the cinema. I did do some Lego Star Wars free play levels (from Episode II) before heading out and when I got back I did a little on Fortnite (thou* not the Star Wars modes). I have finally got galaxy of heroes to work again it just sucks I missed out on the Andor era but at least it’s in time for the new one.
I did watch the finale of Mail Shadow Lord when I got back, no spoilers but it was pretty great though also a bit sad. I do feel bad for Maul cause of all that which is wild to think about really.
I was thinking of building the Lego X-Wing yesterday but I just had no time. (If I’d not gone out I’d have done it probably.) I did do the little Razor Crest Sunday which was a clever build for something so small, as well as Cobb Vanth’s speeder which looks so cool. Yeah it’s out of scale but that doesn’t matter much to me it looks so nice.
But anyway!
Yesterday I ended up going to the cinema for The Sheep Detectives and Hokum. I went straight to the cinema but it was pretty busy when I got there so I missed most of the sheep detective trailers. (And all the ones for Hokum were repeats alas I expected at least one new one, or even to switch Passenger for the newer one)
Thoughts on both under the cut, there won’t be spoilers for The Sheep Detectives (cause murder mystery) but there might be some for Hokum. (Also there’s unexpected cuteness too)
First The Sheep Detectives. The synopsis is simple, a shepherd (Hugh Jackman), loves his sheep and reads them mystery stories every night. When he’s found murdered the sheep take it upon themselves to find out who did it.
I love sheep and I love murder mysteries so of course this was gonna be my vibe when I first heard about it. The setting is a classic sort of place you’d see in murder mysteries, a little village with a bunch of potential suspects. The basic murder mystery could very easily have been fitted in a Father Brown or something like that.
Bit of course the charm with this is that the sheep are the ones doing the detective work they have a lot of personality and they’re very funny. But also there’s a surprising amount of feels (especially when there’s a scene commenting about remembering those that are lost, which always gets me and this almost made me teary).
The humans do pretty well too. Emma Thomson is funny as a lawyer, but there’s also another shepherd (played by one of the 13th Doctors companions, that I didn’t realise till the credits), a journalist (played by the new he man) and a bunch of other characters (the police detective that’s a bit useless, and other suspects). It’s pretty fun and funny but also it’s got a lot of heart. So if you like sheep or detective things in general this is a fun time.
Between films I had about an hour so I decided to go to the Burger King just across from the cinema. I’d never been before but wanted to cause of the mandalorian stuff. So I gave the vegan meal a try and it was pretty good. (Though I couldn’t agree with the self service drinks machine). The cup is cool though, it’s metal and so is pretty solid (a got a silver one) and it changes colour when drink is in it, but I’ve not done that yet to see which colour it turns into.
After that I went back to the cinema and ahh there were geese! I dunno why they were away from the water under the scaffolding but
So here’s the promised cuteness

The second film was Hokum which was a completely different vibe. A writer decides to head to the hotel his parents honeymooned at. Once there he finds the honeymoon suite is locked apparently to contain a witch.
The writer Ohm (Adam Scott) is very unlikeable when he’s first seen, but as the film goes on it’s clear he’s like that because he’s damaged due to an incident from his childhood that’s slowly revealed over the course of the film.
The film is mostly creepy with a few jumpscares, some which did get me. (And there was one scene that made the audience make a collective gasp) and I thought the whole thing was pretty effective. It ended up being a nice blend of a supernatural and very natural threats. And there was a nice energy when Ohm got to the honeymoon suite (that’s not a spoiler he gets in there I feel it’s implied he does cause that’s how these films always go isn’t it? There’s a locked room so you have to go in at some point)
I really did like it, more than I expected actually, and it was a nice spooky kind of time. It’s made me curious about the directors other stuff, I know some are on shudder.
On the way out I saw there were postcards from the film so I snagged one, which is pretty cool( here it is along with the aforementioned cup)

Next cinema trip might be next week for Obsession (and to use a Burger King code I got sent) then it’s the Mandalorian and Grogu the week after!
Today, as mentioned, I built up the New Republic X-Wing, which was a pretty cool build (and yay getting Colonel Ward!) annoyingly one of the parts has flew off (a bit for one of the laser cannons) and I can’t figure out where it’s gone. So one of the four is a bit shorter than the others,
I might put thoughts for Warning From Space in the next post (I was here but I’m feeling a lil tired so…).
Now I’m gonna rest a bit and then… I’m not sure.
