Ughhh the past days have been so…

Friday was a trip to town to see Ponyo. Beforehand I went to Smiths and was able to exchange the book I got the week before (I wasn’t sure cause it was discounted and closing down. They didn’t have Tough Guy which I saw then, but they did have The Long Game so yay.

Then I went to see Ponyo in the cinema.

The majority of the trailers were the same as Kiki’s Delivery Service (cat in the hat, tad and the magic lamp, whisper of the heart, Shaun the sheep) but there was also one for Ice Age Boiling Point which I forgot was gonna be a thing.

Ponyo is the only Ghibli film I have on blu ray, but I’ve only seen it once when I first got it which was… awhile ago. All I could really remember was the song. It was nice to revisit it, especially on a big screen and it is very beautiful. I love underwater stuff so I loved seeing all of that. Plus the visuals of jellyfish swimming by trees and fish swimming along roads.

It did feel a bit… odd having the whole thing have seemingly global consequences, cause it makes the whole sweetness of it feel a bit… I dunno. But it was still good.

I also went in the art gallery cause some exhibits are almost up. I didn’t think too much of them but then I wasn’t the target audience (one was an exhibit for a magazine that). But there was a nice one in the community gallery. Which had these huge diamond things (almost as tall as me) that I couldn’t figure out until I saw in the video that was playing that they were headdresses, which was crazy.

After that I went in Tesco, since I had a voucher to use, so I got my Fantastic 4 comic (I know have a three issue backlog oop), Lego Minecraft magazine and they had a set of the Pokémon Krispy Kreme! It was a box of four, with Pikachu, Charmander, Jigglypuff and a pokeball. Mum had the pikachu (she likes lemon) so I can’t comment on that one but they were pretty good, though they are really sweet.

Not one but two Nintendo directs got announced! There’s a general one on Wednesday, which I’ll miss cause of timing, but the more important one is tomorrow cause it’s a Zelda one! Having a whole direct to itself has got to mean more than one thing. Cause yeah there’s Ocarina getting a date and console, but there’s also the film. But I guess we’ll see if there’s anything else. It’s meant to be about 30 minutes (285( the main one being 45) so that’s plenty of space for stuff.

Saturday wasn’t a terribly busy day, though we watched the Taskmaster charity stream cause Tommy was there but damn. I fully expected it to be an hour or two and it was about 4 hours long, which made it a slog. Instead of like the show, where tasks are mostly pre filmed, it was all live which is what made things so long. It meant I didn’t do much after like I intended.

I did end up listening to the audio of The Nudge, the book by one of the guys that writes welcome to night vale (with Cecil and Kevin from it doing the narration). It was pretty good and it’s only 2 hours though it was definitely unsettling. (Though I did find myself more interested in the hotel they were in)

Yesterday was… I’d hoped we could watch the Disney prom or start watching the Bond boxset up but mum decided it would be a great time to instead start an arguement.

The issue? The shelving.

I had wanted to try and get it set up, so on Wednesday I tried talking to her about it, since she wanted to clean some things where it was going to and doing so would be a two person job. I tried to arrange a time for us to sort it but as I talked she did her usual thing, kept adding things she wanted to do before the shelving until got in place and I knew it would be too time consuming/overwhelming, especially since this week had busy days so I gave up on it…

Cept on Sunday she suddenly wanted it moved from its temporary spot (in front of the drier which is why I wanted it moving, it was in the garage but I moved it when rain was forecast) and it turned into a whole issue. Suffice to say it’s not where I wanted it to be and now she wants it somewhere else but every suggestion she makes is either awkward to get to or defeats the purpose of having it. So… ugh.

On the plus side though while sorting things a few days ago I found a bunch of blu rays I’d forgotten about. Including The Conjuring, one of the Scary Movies (I think 5), a Black Veil Brides concert blu ray and a few other things.

But yeah the fight made be completely zone out and re triggered my depression which had been getting better.

On the plus side I had managed to write which… is something.

Today I went out all day to see Colony and Insidious. But before I even left I had mail from the hospital, where they changed the time of the appointment from 11:15 to 10:30, then finished the message with a snarky comment about changing times. Like bitch, you’re the ones changing the appointment on me you’ve no right to be giving me attitude on what you’re doing.


Before I got to the cinema I went in Aldi and they had Lego polybags, including an Animal Crossing one and one with a ginger kitty. Between films I had noms in Burger King then went in smyths since they had a Grogu Funko, though it was too high to get. They had a snowshark one though so I got that. (They had some other Tales from 87 stuff too.)

But anyway.

Verity: New to me but I’m so intruiged. Anne Hathaway in a creepy role? I’m so curious
Resident Evil: Still hyped for this. And ahhh I just saw it’s added to the cinema coming soon, but alas there’s no preview showings
Fall 2: again don’t wanna see this
Hope (the Colony trailer): It looks really great! I’m still surprised the cinema is getting it but I’m so seeing it
Clayface (Insidious trailer): I think this is a new one but it does look pretty good and I’m sold on it.

The next cinema trip is gonna be… I dunno. Camp Miasma is tomorrow but they’ve added two more showings for Friday and Saturday. However they’re both later times. I hate that tomorrow is the best time because I’d so go for it if it wasn’t for the theatre trip the next day. Maybe I’ll risk it and go tomorrow since I won’t be rushing for the last train at least, which would be the issue with Friday and Saturday.

Annoyingly the listings haven’t added any extra times for either Space 1999 or the next Ghibli film (Laputa) so I’m not sure if I’ll see them. Space 1999 is only Sunday but the trains are one an hour instead of the usual two so that makes it annoying. (I had hoped there’d be another showing like with thunderbirds but alas). So I dunno what the plans are. I might see Transformers next week and the following Monday I’ll see Resident Evil/April X (I’m still annoyed I can’t see Resident Evil on release)

Now to flop for the night.

The past few days haven’t been too great due to a triple threat of tiredness, sickness and then depression.

Tiredness was from the cinema trip last Friday, which seemed to hit me harder. For whatever reason. I dunno the cause of the sickness, I assume it was something I ate but it only lasted a night and day (and I wasn’t actually sick). Depression also didn’t have a cause but came over like a dark cloud and has lingered for days, it’s still there and won’t seem to go away, coming stronger at nights which… ugh.

Bleh.

Weekend was mostly uneventful other than watching stuff.

Bond Proms: which was really good, easily the best prom this season. They found such great singers (and even had Lulu back which was sweet). Oddly some slots were taken by music from other things (The Avengers, the man from uncle and I think something else) which felt pretty needless, especially with so many good bond songs. Also the last song, We Have All The Time In The World unexpected made me emotional

Clue: Saw it was on Paramount + so watched it for Tim Curry. It’s still fun and wild to me how they managed to manage to turn a board game into a film and make it work. But I also found out that Carrie Fisher was almost Miss Scarlet which ??

As Above So Below: Saw it was leaving Amazon prime so decided to watch and it’s pretty good, thanks to using the already atmospheric and creepy catacombs under Paris as a starting point. I also love things that have things where they shouldn’t be. And wild to see Higgins from Magnum as the main character

(Both of those were instead of my intended thing of watching American Horror Story)

The Sheep Detectives: Watched the blu ray, come for the sheep solving a murder, find out it’s actually deeper and sadder (yes it did get me even more). Still sad the blu ray has nothing in the way of special features, like ??

That was it for film watching. I did watch Futurama (unexpected poly rep??) and Strange New Worlds (which was pretty good and also had Beto back which a plus) but otherwise…. Not much.

Feeling sick meant I didn’t see Insidious Monday as planned, so I switched to my back up day of yesterday… but I didn’t do that either, due to the updated cinema listings. (So next cinema trip is tomorrow, just to see Ponyo, plus use Tesco vouchers I got in the mail)

The cinema has added more showings for Colony, which was gonna be just at 8pm Monday, so I’m gonna see it at the new time of 12pm and then follow it with Insidious.

Also the listings, finally, added Camp Miasma but only have three showings and each one is terrible. The first is Saturday but it’s not until 10:30pm (which isn’t usually a time the cinema has) and so it ends an hour after the last train. Sunday as one at 8:50pm which ends 5 minutes before the last train (and I don’t think I’d be fast enough to get it). The third is Tuesday at 8pm, which usually would be a good time… but we’re going to the theatre for The Mousetrap the following day so…

I’m hoping more showings get added Monday on the new listings but if not… I will probably try for it, even though it’s not a good idea.

Sigh.

Anyway, I did have luck with some things. Sonic x Shadow Generations deluxe was on sale on the switch 2 so I was able to pick it up on Monday, hours before it left the sale. It’s good timing cause fortnite made me want sonic stuff. Will I actually play it or will it be like Bonnie Bear or Viewfinder and just sit there? Stay tuned and find out.

Also while out with Naryu we saw a shop with a shelving unit outside for £15. I’d wanted to get a bigger one for my blu rays but wasn’t sure if it would be the right size, so I grabbed one from home, checked and got it when it fit. It is quite big (four times the size of the one I was using) and was a bargain (the ones I was looking at were twice the size of the one I was using and £25). The downside is that it can’t fit things bigger than blue rays, so some boxsets won’t fit (so Ghostwatch can’t fit, nor can the Doctor Who blu rays). But I’m fairly sure it could probably fit every other blu ray I have, though the top shelf is still gonna be favs and second arrow films.

The other downside? I’d got a place I was going to put it, but of course mum raised objections and wants stuff doing there and it’s slowing getting it set up. Which is especially annoying since there’s not much time over the next week and it’s currently in front of the washer. (I had put it in the garage but moved it when we were due a storm). So I feel this’ll be a source of stress and tiredness. Sigh

But anyway, plan tonight is Taskmaster, attempting to find something to distract my depression brain and then tomorrow’s town trip. (We’ll see if the blu ray shelf can get sorted over the weekend)

We got hot by a storm last night, so it’s cooled down thankfully. Last night there was flashes of lightning, more than I’ve seen in awhile and I think it spooked Midna as she came down for cuddles until it stopped. The rain has continued this morning, so we’re just staying in today.

Man it’s been sad new with celebrity deaths this week, with both Dolly Parton and Tim Curry dying. Dolly wasn’t someone I was a fan of really (though of course Jolene is a banger), but I knew she was a good person and seeing posts about her in tribute you see just how much good she did. Plus she was so effortlessly funny too. And then seeing the news about Tim the next day. Man, I loved him in Muppet Treasure Island, that’s his many role for me. I’ll likely watch it again soon, and Clue which I’ve not seen for awhile. (And his version of Pennywise in the Its series cause I’ve not seen it)

But anyway, onto other things.

Sunday night I watched the next of the arrow sale releases with Tomie. I’d had it in the Xbox for at least a week without watching it (mostly cause my energy wasn’t there for subtitles) but I’m glad I got it because it was pretty good. I liked the choice they made of obscuring Tomie until the last third of the film and how the vibes were so stramge and that last sequence was so good and dreamlike. (Plus it was weird seeing a doctor smoke in her office with a patient). The special features were pretty good, including a retro making off which was interesting seeing how they made some of the effects (and shown a scene not in the film),

So that’s another of the arrow things down. I’m not sure which will be next. (There’s Three/Three Extremes, the One Missed Call Trilogy, Hound Of The Baskervilles and, of course, the Stranger Things boxset. I guess we’ll see what I feel like switching to)

Mum’s friend came Monday but thankfully wasn’t as annoying as usual. The blu ray of Sheep Detectives came so we might watch that Sunday, though damn it seems like it has no special features at all. What’s with this trend of films releasing with nothing? No making of, no deleted scenes not even promo stuff.

I watched celebrity masterchef that night too and it was so nice to see Tommy. He really did try his best (and did so well in the palette challenge) so it’s a shame he went first this week. (Though it was funny hearing the voiceover lady say ‘aka Tommyinnit’)

Also on Monday I finally preordered the new Star Wars game (out today) called Zero Company. I used my Xbox rewards points towards it so I got the deluxe game for only £19 which is crazy. The reviews for it are all glowing so I’m excited to give it a go (maybe tonight)

Tuesday was a stint at the library which was really busy. Though I still managed to read one story from Poirot Investigates and a chapter of Heated Rivalry (I’m so behind on reading). In the night I watched gamescom opening night live (more later) and then You Might Be The Killer cause I saw shudder had it back on. It’s still so wild to me that a twitter thread got turned into a film and that it actually works as well as it does.

Yesterday was more gamescom stuff and watching a Strange New Worlds ep which was pretty good, though the one before it (which I watched Sunday) was a full on horror possession thing which was so intense. Poor Gamble. Though I knew he was doomed thanks to Star Trek Timelines.

Gamescom is the gaming convention in Germany so they’re showing off some new games. A lot is stuff I’m either not interested in or can’t play (cause I don’t really do stream games) but there were some good reveals

*Warlock is a DND game and features Maggie (tall vampire lady from Resident evil) as Tasha
*Persona 4 (I think that was the number?) which is a remake but is about people being pulled into tvs so I’m immediately curious
*Gameplay of Tomb Raider, Fable and Rayman from the Xbox stream, all of which look so great (Fable especially)
*A game called Lego Skylines, a Lego city builder which I knew Tubbo would love before seeing his reaction
*Theres new Rollercoaster tycoon and Worms games
*Theres a new guitar hero type game called Stage Tour, which is coming out December and I’m so curious what the full lineup will be

(I’m sure I’ve missed loads of stuff I liked the look of too)

Today’s Xbox stream will have galactic racer info which I’m excited for cause it looks so cool. I do hope there’s a Nintendo direct soon though, cause we are due one.

I had thought about shifting the cinema trip through this week but I put it off due to gamescom stuff, the next trips should be Saturday (Coyote Vs Acme and Kiki’s Delivery Service) and Monday (or Wednesday) Insidious. I had hopped we’d get Camp Miasma after the email I got, but it’s still not there so I’m worried we’ll miss it entirely. Odeon do have it from tomorrow, but only at a late night showing so that isn’t really an option. Hopefully it gets added to the listings for next week, though knowing my luck they’ll show it once on the same night as Colony (or worse, on the day were at the theatre)

This weekend I’m gonna be watching the James Bond prom and hopefully American Horror Story. I do wanna a new film thay just came on Netflix, Here The Whole Time which looks like an adorable Brazilian queer romance. And I might watch either As Above So Below or Yellowbrickroad on prime

But we’ll see, chances are, as always, I’ll get distracted or sidetracked.

So today was the next planned cinema trip, for The End Of Oak Street and the mystery horror film. It has been awhile since I’ve done a mystery one.

I did put on my newest Qwertee, a Widow’s Bay one, cause I finished the series this weekend. I need to find more stuff on apple to watch (anyone got recs)

I didn’t do much in town beforehand, just grabbed a drink and looked for knitting needles for mum (but alas they didn’t have the size she wanted. I did get a gemstone tree though).

The guy at the cinema was clearly new even before he said it, because he didn’t scan my thing right. (So it shown up how much a ticket would be, £13.75, the pass is £16.99).) But a more experienced guy I recognised was there to help. He thought the mystery film might be Resident Evil, which hadn’t even occurred to me. (It’s not out till mid September and isn’t up even on the cinema site yet). I was sure it’d be either the new Insidious or Camp Miasma, both coming out Friday. Well Miasma apparently is, there’s still not a single time listed.

I went upstairs and there is a Miasma poster, right next to the screen for End Of Oak Street which is a good sign at least.

I was gonna do some more sfx reading between films but I didn’t do any. I was too thrown by marvel snap’s support email being infuriating again (why act like it was closing the ticket because I didn’t respond to an email sent late last night).

I did find some poster things, so I’ve got a Sheep Detectives and Moana one (despite not seeing it).

Then I went up to the mystery film which was a pretty packed showing! But first trailers.

Other Mommy: New to me, but it is an incredibly creepy concept
Resident Evil: The first trailer still, but eliminated it as an option
Fall 2: I’m not sold on it, but it did make me winces the lady took steps on metal bars.
Colony: new to me trailer but it looks so creepy. And bloody.
Camp Miasma: new to me but I was too shocked to pay attention cause I was sure this was what it’d be.
Insidious: I think it’s the usual trailer but again I was surprised by it, cause after miasma I thought that’s what it’d be

Oddly they also shown a thing for the Studio Ghibli films coming up.

So it turns out the mystery film really was a mystery as it was neither of my most likely options, so it was a secret third thing. What was it? Find out under the cut.

As it finished earlier than listed I did try and go to the Tesco, though despite saying it’s open till midnight all its doors were shuttered so ?? People were in there, so I guess the only way in was the multi-storey car park but that’s a baffling decision.

On the way home I got caught in rain which is usually bad but ahh! It’s good to finally have rain.

It’s time again for some more yapping about things.

In the weekend I continued going through my arrow sale blu ray run with Kolobos.

The premise is a solid one, a group of people are invited to take part in a show, where they’re bought into a house and filmed… only they start dying. Yeah it’s basically big brother with the addition of a killer. The scenes at the house are pretty good and there’s some good kills but it does have a problem, mentioned in the special features.

They filmed all the scenes in the house and were pretty happy…. Only to find the cut was about an hour long. So they had to add extra footage and it’s very clear that’s what got added as a result. It’s a shame, but considering it was their first ever film it’s understandable.

But that was the first of two of the arrow sale films I watched this week but I’ll get to that later.

I also watched more Strange New Worlds, finishing season 2 and starting season 3. And damn, they really leaned into making the gorn essentially xenomorphs. It works, making them really scary and threatening and the ending makes me think they’ll show up again.

The second ep of season 3 was much lighter (thankfully) which was needed. Also I loved how it introduced three hot guys in quick succession (Ensign Gamble, Doctor Korby and Beto Ortegas) as well as having Spock shirtless.

Then I watched the two Star Wars Visions Ninth Jedi ep.it was a rewatch of the first but I’d not seen the second (Visions is something I really need to finish) and the second gave me feels over the cute lil droid. Watching them was in prep of The Ninth Jedi show and I’ve only watched on ep but it was pretty good! I’m curious to see how it goes.

And also speaking of shows, Futurama is back! I watched the first two eps of the new season and they were pretty good (though poor cows).

Then there was an announcement I’d been hoping for. They’re making a Clown In A Cornfield sequel movie! I’m not surprised at all (it did make almost 14 times its budget) but I’m still hyped that we get to see my boys again. I hope everyone comes back to reprise their roles (I’m sure they will)

Also film news, Sam Neil’s last film role is gonna be The Legend Of Zelda film. No word on who he’ll play yet but it’lil be so sad to see him in it.

(I did see Jurassic Park 3 with him too last Sunday and I always forget that it’s actually pretty good.)

The second arrow watch was Wednesday, Dark Water.

Unlike Kolobos I had seen Dark Water before (I'm pretty sure I’ve got the dvd somewhere) but I’d not watched it for a long time. I vaguely remember not vibing with it too much and after a rewatch that still stands. Like there are a few creepy and unsettling moments, and the location is really atmospheric but I dunno. There’s also a subplot through it where the main character is going through a divorce and her ex husband is just a repulsive jerk. Like bringing up her past mental health issues just to get his daughter who he clearly isn’t bothered with? He’s more of a villain than the ghost (who is after all a lonely girl).

More interesting are the special features which include interviews with the director and the writer of the short story it’s based on. They also did Ring, and it’s funny cause the interviews were much more slanted towards talking about that than Dark Water. Still they were pretty interesting so I consider them worth getting it for.

Apart from watching stuff I’ve not done too much. I’d hoped to fic but my brain got sidetracked (same with reading) and then last night the net went down for hours which was annoying too.

There’s a comic con tomorrow in Birmingham too and I might have tried to go if I’d known the Magnus people would be there. Alas they got announced quite late and so I wasn’t able to prepare. (If it was next week I’d probably have been able to go.) Though I have felt a tad woozy so it’s probably for the best (plus it’ll probably be hot and annoying)

So it’s been over a week since the last post. Oop. I blame feeling, as so often lately, pretty unfocussed which is annoying.

The week, when not zoned out, has mostly been spent watching things.

Strange New Worlds (Under The Cloak Of War, Subspace Rhapsody): I really do love Strange New Worlds so much. There is such a wild swing between eps too. Like these two, one is about war and what people do, while the other is a musical ep (that somehow really works). I’ve almost finished season 2 so hopefully I can get through 3 so I can watch the new eps.

In The Mouth Of Madness: First time watching, but it was something I’ve wanted to for awhile, since I first heard of it. While I didn’t vibe with it as much as I thought (maybe cause it was late) there were some pretty good concepts, effects and performances.

Jurassic Park The Lost World: It’s been awhile since I’ve watched and it has some good parts to it. Of course it doesn’t have the wonder of the original and I’m not sure the last part works but it’s still entertaining

Warped: Warped tour was streaming this weekend so I caught a bit. Alas Set It Off wasn’t streaming, but I did catch From first To Last (I’d not realised they had a new singer) and Waterparks (which was fun). Though I zoned out before watching Thrice and missed most of them on the repeat. I did see The Used though which was pretty good.

From (Choosing Day): Finally got back to watching it after a few weeks of not having the focus. i still have many questions of course, but it did feel a lil odd that the colony house didn’t really make their case to stay with them. I’m not surprise the daughter did choose to stay there, it feels the better option. (But then again I’d safety in numbers a good thing?) and was there actually a thing in the tunnels?

Widow’s Bay (What To Expect On Your Trip): I really do love this show it’s the right amount of creepy and funny.

Heated Rivalry (I Believe In Anything, The Cottage): finally finished Heated Rivalry and ahh! I love Shane and Ilya, especially Shane though these last eps made me wanna hug Ilya so much. (And I love how horny he is for Shane in glasses) And also that was the cottage? That’s not what comes to mind when I think of one.

Fake Documentary q (Mindseeker-Take100): Finally got back to watching this cause a new vid is coming! I’ve still got three to go so we’ll see if I can fit them in, but damn. For a YouTube series it’s so impressive what they’ve managed to do and you never know what you’ll get with a vid either. There’s been a video on clairvoyance, one about hidden links on a school website and the aftermath of a box opening. You really never know what you’re gonna get, and nothing is really explained but it works. Plus they always find great locations, I love the museum for take 100 with all the cool film stuff.

(I need to get back to The Pitt, the Friday proms cut into the time I usually watch. And get back to the Beauty. I had hoped to watch Kolobos this week though it might not be till the weekend. There’s also new Futurama next week and The Ninth Jedi soon, I need to rewatch/finish visions)

Monday mum’s friend came, necessitating a trip to town which I kept brief but was still tiring. Then Tuesday I got hit by more the return of banging in the morning. Thankfully it only lasted the morning, but ugh.

Other than that there’s still been annoyances with a marvel Snap (it got better for one day last week, then got worse) and I’m kinda sick of the empty platitudes from support emails. It’d be nice if they at least did a gesture or promise of compensating (cause I missed an event entirely causa crashes) but I doubt they will and it just pisses me off.

Saturday is gonna be the next trip to town, to see Spiderman. I had planned to see it Wednesday but there’s a Lego make and take in both smyths and the entertainer for the new Pokémon sets (with smyths having a smart play demo too). That has worked out for the best, so many of Wednesday’s showings were almost sold out (even having a low ticket warning I’d never seen before) but also Saturday has a pin giveaway for it (which a lot of cinemas are doing for some reason). I’ll likely just see Spiderman (there’s not much else showing and I don’t really wanna see Moana, I’d have if mum had wanted to but…

There has been more Studio Ghibli films added to the coming soon, so now there’s a total of 7 between the end of August and mid October. I might try and see most, if not all of them.

I’m gonna bundle now, watch Best Wishes To All then see if I can settle tonight. (I couldn’t last night so my hopes are slim)

So the past days have been a bit like the past weeks have in general, a sense of feeling ‘tuned out’ especially at night. It’s a weird feeling that I can’t fully articulate, but I wish I could, because it’s so annoying.

But I digress, onto the post (and I just saw the Friday five which looks interesting this week so I might do that late or tomorrow.

I saw that Netflix have a new show coming called Below which is about a sea monster terrorising a coastal town so I’m really interested already. It’s also got Josh Hartnett and Charlie Heaton in it. Maybe there’ll be a trailer at comic con.

Also speaking of comic con, Hasbro have a panel… and let slip they have the license for the Zelda film and will be showing some off next week. That’s gotta mean a trailer is due too surely?

Being tuned out in the night has meant I’ve not been able to do much. But I did have better nights Wednesday and last night. On Wednesday I watched the Strange New Worlds/Lower Decks crossover ep, which was so fun and funny. I loved it so many, it’s made me wanna watch the rest of the show. I just have to remember where I left off (I think it was season 3 I fully watched?). Then I watched the next Widow’s Bay and damn, I feel so bad for Patricia.

Then last night I watched one of the films from my arrow delivery! The first Sana film, which has a band called Generations (also known as Generations from Exile Tribe). Thoughts ahoy!

This morning I was gonna go see The Odyssey, intending to go to the first showing. So I came down and had the bright idea to do pop tarts, since I’d seen the boxset the other day… and I managed to fuck it up, scalding my hand getting one out and the other broke apart in the toaster. So now my hand had three blisters which wasn’t fun at all.

I still managed to go, albeit an hour later.

(I also had mail come, In The Mouth Of Madness to add to the Sam Neill things to watch. I need to find Jurassic Park cause it seems to be awol)

When I got to the cinema I got the minions cup thay they did (with a minion in an explore outfit with a lil flaming torch).

Trailers before The Odyssey were: the uprising, digger, heart of the beast, pressure, the dog stars, Spiderman. I’m not gonna talk much on them this time as most were done before (Digger was new though, and it’s funny it has Eva Stratt from Project Hail Mary in it. And The Uprising was something I’d not seen before and doubt I will).

This is where I usually put in a warning or note about mid/post credits stuff but instead I’ll just say DO NOT TAKE IN A DRINK YOU WILL REGRET DRINKING IT.

Next cinema trip shall be to see Spiderman. But I also saw the cinema is getting Kiki’s Delivery Service next month which makes me wonder if there’ll be other Ghibli stuff.

Afterwards I had food, wandered around town (including getting from Tesco some new haribo, the Mandalorian’s N1 and the Fantastic 4 comic). There was a vinyl market/event thing but it seems to be wrapping up when I got there and I didn’t see anything of interest in my quick look.

When I got to the station the train was delayed and when I saw it was delayed 25 minutes I went to Smiths and got a Doctor Who bookazine, some Star Wars Unlimited packs (I opened the ones I got the other night, I got some good cards though damnit I got Luthen again as a leader) and they had the Stranger Things sticker starter packs. That’s the first time I’ve seen them since I got my own one.

I read some SFX reviews while waiting, then the train got delayed again on the way back. Apparently there’s been signal issues for weeks. Ugh.

Home I’ve listened to the proms and watching Magnum PI since Dave is starting the series again and, well, Magnum’s hot.

And damn this took too long cause I got sidetracked.

First off before getting into the post I woke up and saw the sad news that Sam Neil has died. It feels especially sad because I’d read in sfx a few issues back that he’s just beaten cancer so to go so soon after that... We’re gonna try and watch Jurassic Park in his honour soon (and I’m gonna watch Event Horizon alone) and maybe I’ll see if there’s any stuff of his on the players. But man it’s so sad.

But anyway.

There’s been some recent deliveries these past days. On Friday I got Adam Lambert’s new album which came with some art cards (just 2) which sounded pretty good when I put it on Spotify. There was also the Heated Rivalry fancy vinyl soundtrack, but I’ve not opened it cause the heat was making me sweaty and I didn’t wanna mess it up. (There was issues with the preorder price guarantee thing but that’s been sorted). And then there’s sfx (which must’ve come Saturday but I didn’t see till Sunday, thouh it was funny cause the site said it’d be sent on the 17th) which is Strange New Worlds themed which makes me glad I’m able to watch.

(There’s a really Cool pic of M’benga and La’an in western attire in it, plus there’s a film I’m curious about from the reviews, a Japanese horror called The Curse so I’ll have to get it sometime, it’s on digital on prime at least)

The weekend as a whole was low energy for the most part. My brain kinda tuned out, mostly due to the heat so I was tired and unfocussed until Sunday night.

Sunday night I was actually able to watch stuff, which I’d not been able to do. So I finished off Spider Noir, which I sense is easily gonna be in my top 5 of shows this year, it’s so so good. I watched the whole thing in black and white, so if I watch again it’ll be in colour cause I’m sure it looks great. Then I rewatched Wildhood and the waterfall scene is still one of the hottest things I’ve ever seen, and I love how Pasmay (Joshua Odjick) is shirtless a lot.

I also did the arrow sale order since my money went in. I was only gonna get a few things, but I ended up getting: The Sana Collection, Three/Three Extremes, Hound Of The Baskervilles, Kolobos, Dark Water and the One Missed Call trilogy. Sana is the one I’ll probably watch first cause I watched a trailer and it looks so like my kinda thing. I mean I’d been hyped since I saw it announced but that made me need. (Plus I got the stranger things boxset, though who knows when I’ll actually watch it.) I do wanna get in the Mouth Of Madness

The order has already been sent though and might be here as soon as tomorrow!

Today was the day I’d considered going to town and thankfully it cooled off. The original idea was to see Minions And Monsters first (cause it had two showings) and Evil Dead Burn second, but I switched them last minute and went earlier to have food first.

Before I saw them though I got some stuff for mum from B and M, and saw that the WH Smiths is closing (I know the name is changed but I can never remember it). That’s a shame and I looked in briefly and got some Star Wars Unlimited cards with 20% off. I’ll have to open them tomorrow, see if I’ve got anything good. I’ll have to look in again Friday.

I also went in smyths and got the Mandalorian and Rotta funkos (the latter is so weighty!) but couldn’t find the Heihei I was gonna get mum. I did get the heihei cup for her from the cinema though.

Trailers were, for the most part, new.
Werwulf: Looks pretty well done, but I don’t think I’m sold enough to see it. Though the lead guy (who I’m guessing is the werewolf) does look hot
Clayface: first time seeing a trailer in cinemas and it’s a new short one. Looks pretty good and I love the body horror of the concept. It’s also got a date, my birthday week.
Resident Evil: I’ve seen this trailer when it went live, first time seeing it in the cinema. I’m hyped though, especially for the… whatever is coming through the doorway
Fall 2: New to me, not something i think I’d see.
Insidious Out Of The Further: Dunno if this was a different trailer but I still wanna see
Ice Cream Man: new trailer, better than first but… eh
Tad And The Magic lamp: looks pretty good, I saw one of the twd films a few months back and it was pretty fun. Might see if something else is on when it’s out.

Before I start, two things to note about Evil Dead Burn (in case anyone is thinking of watching). It has a midland post credits scene, so stick around for those. The second is warnings, it does have a dog dying and there is an elderly woman with dementia.

Next cinema trip will be for The Odyssey (I’m not gonna bother trying for the Backrooms with extra footage Wednesday, since the footage is going on YouTube this week) then the new Spiderman film. (I don’t think I’ll see Moana, recent pics/clips make it look so soulless which I really hate)

After the cinema I grabbed more things for mum (from Aldi) then came home. Again the train had issues, but I got home ok and just flopped.

The past few days have been a bit bleh because my head’s been so achy suddenly. It might be due to the weather which, though it hasn’t been hot has been heavy. Which ugh. And has t helped that my stomach’s been weird too.

I had considered going to the cinema later in the week but shifted the plans to Monday but now it feels a bit 50/50. It sucks that A Private Life only has showing a tomorrow but I don’t mind missing Bleach and might be able to catch Backrooms later on.

The coming soon for the cinema did get update though so Camp Miasma (and Coyote Vs Acme) is coming 21st of August. So that’ll be an interesting double bill.

Speaking of films Arrow has a sale on so I looked through added some things that looked interesting and… not gone through them all (for reference I originally had 58 things, it’s now 46 and I intend to get 5). The main definite one is the Sana Collection cause I’ve had my eye on it for awhile but.. we’ll see what else I get. It’s not like I’ll be ordering for a week anyway.

(And speaking of ordering my Mandalorian And Grogu soundtrack finally shipped woo!)

And also speaking of films Project Hail Mary is on prime which my tv keeps reminding me but I’ll probably hold off on watching (if you’ve not though you shouldn’t!). But my tweet mentioning it got posted on their insta stories which was a surprise.

I did start some things from the subscriptions. First was Strange New Worlds, so I started season 2 and I’m four eps in. The first ep was a solid opener, the second made me pissed at the federation’s prejudice. The third was a contemporary time travel one which I’m usually eh on but this was actually a great one. The fourth was a little eh though. I do love the new chief engineer, she’s funny.

I also watched Widow’s Bay and I’m two eps in but I’m totally into it. The second ep had kinda Hokum vibes being set in a hotel, though the twist there didn’t surprise me. But it also had the creepy image of a church bell chained up… despite ringing the night before.

Then last night I finally finished Welcome To Derry. I wasn’t sure they’d be able to wrap things up well enough in just one episode but they actually did. Though I am so pissed about what happened to my boy Taniel. Joshua stop playing characters that get gunned down.

Other than that I’ve been low energy and not done much, bar daily gaming stuff and going on Two Point Hospital. I’m several hospitals in now and the difficulty spike is so annoying.

I’m sure I had other thoughts but, like always, they’re very much gone.

So Starmer resigned this morning. Good riddance to that moral vacuum.

I find it utterly baffling how many people say he was ‘decent’ or ‘had integrity’ after all the bad things he did. From supporting war crimes, arresting protestors, pushing for cuts to disabled people and screwing over immigrants, nothing about him ever screamed decent, or even whispered it. I’d say I hope whoever comes next will be an improvement but it feels it’ll just be Starmer 2.0. Ugh.

But anyway, enough politics.

The heatwave has returned again, which had meant it’s been a few days of not doing much, having dicey sleep and generally just being flop. Apparently it’s meant to get worse, so I hope everyone is staying safe.

I had hoped to watch some stuff this weekend but honestly my head was too achy from the heat to do anything which sucked. I hope this week will be better though I doubt it.

(The only thing I did manage to watch was the Death Valley finale and Spider Noir, which is really good!)

On the plus side, I finally heard back from xbox uk. A few weeks back I won a code on stream for a game called Kiln, but they were offline a few days for summer game C’est stuff and when they got back to me they couldn’t find codes. They asked if there was anything else I’d like from recent streams so I sent two suggestions. I finally heard back Friday and they’d sent both! Directive 8020 and two point museums arty facts dlc. Directive 8020 alone is over twice as much as Kiln (and something I wanted much more than it, plus Kiln is on game pass anyway) so I’m really happy. I might start Directive 8020 sometime this week. (I had almost preordered it, but missed out causa timings.)

Has anyone got Apple TV or Paramount +? The tv shown that subscriptions for both are half off until upnext week and I’m kinda curious. I know Paramount has Trek stuff, but Apple TV also has Widows Bay which I’ve heard people rave about. So does anyone have thoughts/knowledge?

Cinema trip is planned for Saturday (I had considered Wednesday for Jurassic park but I’m leaning against it now). The plan is Supergirl, but I’m thinking of making it a late afternoon showing cause they’re also showing Ghost In A Shell and Bleach, both eps of new series. It has been forever since I’ve seen Bleach though so I’ll probably be lost.

Then I might go next week for Minions and Monsters/Toy Story 5, then the week after for Evil Dead Burn (maybe).

But as with anything we’ll see.

Tonight’s gonna be Brokenwood Mysteries, then maybe watch something (depends on mood) and then see if anything is in the prime day sale (I’m expecting it to be a bust but maybe they’ll have Clown In A Cornfield 2).
