So rhoda_rants mentioned 31 days of horror films and while I know I can’t commit to that (I knew I had the gig and know that Below will sidetrack me this week) so I’m only going to try and do 20 films specifically (while doing at least something spooky for every day). So far, including the ones I have on this, I’m at 4 which is pretty good considering it’s the 5th.

TV - The Reluctant Vampire

A new show started on BBC1, The Reluctant Vampire which is about a boy (Valentine) who is raised in a family of vampires (and believes himself to be) only to discover (in the first ep) that he’s actually not. It was a lil silly at times and tonally all over the place, but it was fun if slight. I guess we’ll see how things pan out with it.

Amazon Prime - Hollow (new to me)

IMDb description - On holiday in the English countryside, two young couples uncover an ancient evil.

So this was another of those things I saw on Amazon and had added it to the list. Last night it was a mental conflip between this and Episode 12 and I went with this cause it listed it as British found footage.

But damn I wish I’d gone for Episode 12 instead because this… this wasn’t great (a massive understatement). The titular Hollow is that of a tree which has a creepy story associate it and, as the characters discover a history of apparent suicides by hanging.

I stuck with it till the end, just incase the ending would be some nice payoff to make watching worth it but it just… wasn’t. I thought at least there was a plus with a guy getting near naked (for strip monopoly of all things) but the literal next scene had him be a creep (hiding the camera in the bathroom to film one of the girls getting changed).

There’s some nice location stuff of some ruins and the tree (which is admittedly very creepy) and there is a one nice visual of a phone box towards the end, but it doesn’t make for everything else. (Especially the visual of a disembowled fox which… no)

Netflix - Sam and Colby Paranormal Investigators - Dracula’s Castle The Night That Made Him Believe (first half hour)

I started this as a palette cleanser after Hollow’s awfulness and I expected it just to continue the ‘best of’ playlist but it just jumped straight to the new one with Dan and Phil. It is pretty good and the location is cool (one of the places that inspired Dracula) but I could feel myself getting tired so I paused it and will finish tonight.

I also had some of Shoto’s spooky stream on during the day but, again, was more listening than watching and tuned out a bit.

This wasn’t as spooky as some Night Vale eps are, being about the titular book (Dale being a new deity) and being about Harrison Kip who had been arrested for murder (and who was also Dale’s acolyte).

Cinema - Hope (new to me)

Today was the first cinema trip of the month and it was for Hope (albeit a week later than I originally intended.

Trailers were: Artificial (new to me, kinda eh), Violet Night 2, Street Fighter (I feel I might end up seeing it as a +1 I am warming to it), Other Mommy (new trailer, I am feeling kinda more curious now), Godzilla Minus Zero (looks pretty good but I’ve not see the other one, is it good?)

When I got home the Halloween edition of SFX was here, which comes with stickers an art card and poster which are a mix of Dracula and Crystal Lake. I’ve not had chance to properly read it yet but it has something about Yaga so I need to read that.

Cinema did have posters of Dracula and Whalefall next to each other was pretty cool. I might see Whalefall cause of Austin Abrams in a Situation.

The next cinema trip might be Saturday or Monday, depending on the listings. I wanna see Spirited Away and this time do a +1 (currently the options are between Verity, The Craft or Practical Magic 2). Then next Friday is Dracula! Again I’m not sure on the +1 (cause there’s a bunch coming out that day too)

Today was the new start of House of Games with Micheal Sheen as the new host. From the first ep I definitely like him for it, he has a nice voice for it so we’ll see how he does.

(I feel the new strictly hosts, meanwhile, aren’t… a great choice)

Tonight’s plan, Strange New Worlds, hopefully finish Sam And Colby and see if fic brain works.

Tomorrow there’s Bake Off, the new Dead By Daylight rift and hopefully I can watch something/start Clown In A Cornfield 2 (though I’ve been saying that since I got it).

Spooky season day 2

Because of gig I didn’t do too much spooky stuff.

Game - Dreamlight Valley
Just did a brief bit on it, though not doing much just trying to make star path quest progress (though more for the Xbox daily gameplay)

Netflix - Sam And Colby Paranormal Investigators - Paris Catacombs: Investigating Real Gate Go Hell (new to me)
I saw Netflix added a ‘best of’ list of the Sam And Colby stuff so decided to put one on. As you can tell from the title, it’s set in the Paris Catacombs so instantly made me think of As Above So Below which I watched a few weeks back and was also set in it. But damn it made me really appreciate that film more because they absolutely nailed the vibe and look of these tunnels.

But also. There’s nothing you could offer me to convince me to go down there. You could offer me a billion pounds and Ray Toro naked and I’d say fuck off. Even if the place isn’t haunted it’s still unexplored (and so unmapped), unsafe and full of dangerous hazards and people. Plus it’s creepy as all fuck. Like there’s just piles of human bones and even things made with them. Like the whole place is just…nightmare fuel even without anything supernatural.

This morning I’d hoped to rip the Natewantstobattle discs but was too cozy to mess about with that. After walking Naryu we did watch Celebrity Traitors from last night which was really good! Though I wonder what would’ve happened if everyone had managed to stay in the coffins without crying out. Like would the traitors have no one at all to murder?

Also I really hope that Richard stays in but I feel his outburst in the first ep cooked him.

After that mum dozed up so I went up to sort the discs. Of course the laptop decided to be slow, which it always does when I wanna do anything. (So I didn’t even attempt icon sorting.)

The Phantom Burial cd is so odd though. It doesn’t have a track listing on the back but does have a download code with the cd. It’s meant to be the set for the show but it’s only 9 tracks one being an intro) where the set is at least 13. Like I can understand not having Escape From The City and maybe Just Beyond but Nightmare not being there is odd. (And yeah it’s on both of the other discs I got so it doesn’t matter that much but still…)

Unrelated by I’m so hyped for Galactic Racer. Seapeekay streamed it yesterday and I saw some before I went out and it looks so so pretty and so great! Seeing how the ‘run based’ system really makes it make sense when you see it.

Now though I’m watching Strictly (delayed again) and then shall watch Marble Hall Murders before gaming and Infirmary. And maybe ficcing.

1. What areas of your life are causing you stress?

Obviously the eye issues. I’m sick of the hospital visits which always feel pointless because it’s a long way to go just to get nowhere. Going is always stressful and annoying. But I know there’s some sort of underlying issue. Like it seems the headaches I have (and of course the eye aches) are linked to whatever it is.

But ugh it’s been almost a year now and I’m no closer to answers.

2. What areas of your life are bringing you joy?

Seeing Natewantstobattle last night. Finally seeing Hope Monday. The upcoming Galactic Racer (though it’s for my birthday so I might not be able to play till then). Snuggles from Midna.

But mostly it’s the general vibes of spooky season cause there’s a lot of stuff to look forward to. The aforementioned cinema trip and game coming, Project Hail Mary and Masters Of The Universe coming, maybe seeing Paranormal Activity. Below and Yaga coming out. Seeing Dracula and other things. So hopefully spooky season this year won’t be like last year where it went so wrong.

3. What is your earliest childhood memory?

Mum went out and left me with my grandparents, but I wanted to go with her. So I managed to get out the house and look for her. I ended up at the police station (someone spotted a child wandering round and just took me there) but I’d been told not to talk to strangers so I said nothing to him.

Obviously I ended up back home (that part is vaguer) but I that’s my earliest memory

4. What is the one thing you would tell your teenage self if you could?

I’d give my teenage self two names and warn him to stay away from both of them.

5. What has been the greatest accomplishment of your life so far?

I’ve no idea

Yesterday was the first of October so that means spooky season is officially upon us! Woo! And cause it’s spooky season I’m just gonna post the spooky/scary things I’ve watched/played/done.

Spooky season day 1

Game - Fortnite
The annual Fortnitemares started, with a new update yesterday so I went on to check out the new map. There’s two new main locations but the nightlight is they’ve also added Freddy Fazbears from Five Nights At Freddy’s which is pretty cool. They’ve added the animatronics as skins but they’re also enemies in the game you can beat and then use the suits. Plus they added a thing wheee you can get a Jimothy racoon as a sidekick which is cute.

I’m gonna have to switch out my Spiderman skin for the more halloweeny ones though (but Spiderman is a costume so I guess he does count.

Game - Dreamlight Valley
I started the new star path the other day which is Halloween centric, but yesterday I started the new questline for Oogie Boogie. Thankfully it’s not like WreckIt Ralph where you need tons locked to get him (and I still don’t have). No, Oogie is trapped in a mirror in Scrooge’s store and I the quest seems to be is get him out while also playing his games. (And getting cool stuff like Lock, Shock and Barrel masks)

Film - Transmission (new to me)

In the night (after Celebrity Traitors more on that later) I’d wanted to watch something, so I settled on one of the films on Amazon prime, Transmission.

The premise is that you’re watching a bunch of things that were playing on tv one night, which feel unconnected and random at first but over the course of the film you realise that they’re actually not.

I went in pretty blind. The film popped up on my feed a lil while ago and I was suitably intrigued to add it to my list (but of course, my Amazon list is even more a list of doom than others) but I figured, hey it’s spooky season time to watch it and it’s only like 75 minutes. So here’s my (spoiler free) thoughts on it

For the opening for minutes I wasn’t sure what to make of it, but it did end up drawing me in and keeping me hooked. Of course the main thing for something like this is making all the seemingly disparate parts come together. It’s very easy to do it badly. But this? The last third had me gasp as things came together and it did it really well.

(I’d say say more but I don’t wanna spoil)

So I ended up giving it 4/5 on letterbox, cause of how well that last third came together. (And the sets of the event horizon expy film were pretty good too) So I definitely recommend to watch.

My hope is to watch at least a few new to me films a week but obviously there’ll be times where I won’t manage that (especially when Below comes out and pulls focus).

Non spooky season stuff now, even though some is spooky.

I watched the last Futurama ep, which was a fun little thing of seemingly random stories that did come together. It was a funny ep though it did feel like a strange one to end on.

I watched the second ep of The Haunted Season on shudder, which was The Occupant Of The Room and it was a pretty well paced creepy thing. Though it did suffer from a sequence at the end, which would’ve been good if the strings of the music weren’t so loud you couldn’t make out the spooky whispers so it kinda ruined the effect.

Yesterday was the opening of Celebrity Traitors and it’s a good group! There’s enough people that I know so I have people to root for, as well as one of the traitors. (Though I can’t believe what he said in front of everyone!) alas I have to iplayer tonight’s

(And I am annoyed that the reading stuff is off iplayer already I forgot to watch James Marriott’s set and I’m annoyed at myself.)

But the past days have been a little low energy and unfocussed alas which has been annoying.

This morning I managed a ticket to get the James Marriott tour, which was nice and easy unlike how others have been. I wasn’t gonna go cause it was on a Sunday and getting back is a nightmare, but he added an extra yesterday so I thought I’d try (and PayPal let me pay later so there’s no stress there)

But I also settled on going to Natewantstobattle tonight. There’s no info from last nights gig yet (alas) so there’s no merch info or if he added the Zelda songs to the set, but I figure it’d be good to go cause I’ve not been to a gig in awhile (and hopefully I can get some albums at last).

Also there’s an exhibit to a costume designer at the Birmingham university, who did costumes for the Doctor Who ep Horror Of Fang Rock (which is a banger ep!) plus the event site says she did a costume for Kate Bush, that she liked so much she used it for an album cover!

It’s only on to mid October so I’m gonna go a bit early and try and see (if it’s at the place I’m thinking but directions say it’s only 15ish mins from the station.

Tomorrow hopefully I can sort icons while sorting Nate’s album and then watch Infirmary on shudder.

I only managed to watch some of Strictly after the last post, because I was watching it on the iplayer (we were finishing a detective thing) and the app crashed part way through. I hate that it does that a lot. I dunno if I’m sold on the new presenting team, though obviously change does get some getting used to (and them settling into it too). But also I’m not sure if there’s anyone in the lineup I wanna root for, though I could have missed someone.

I did watch Marble Hall Murders after it which I’m curious to see how it goes (and also there’s a cute kitty). And then I did start Tales From 85, which was pretty good and I do like the ghost type things and Dustin is so sweet as always. So hopefully it does turn out to be good like the first season (despite the obvious issue of fitting stories like this between 32 and 3 of the main show).

We also finished the Australian bake off (on Friday) and it was both sweet and sad cause of the tribute to the presenter that passed before it came out.

Sunday ended up being a low energy, though I did watch the Professor T season finale which also ended up being so sweet. And at least I did manage to finish ficcing which was a plus.

After finishing fic I decided to watch one of the films on the list of doom. I settled on Yellowbrickroad which I’d seen when I was on tv tropes and thought it sounded interesting. One day a population of a town just walked off into the woods, never to be seen. In present day a group decides to find out what happened to them.

Of course the central mystery is what intrigued me and made me wanna watch, but it’s also one of those films that never answers some of the mysteries that it puts out. There’s also a lot of loud audio noises that are so much louder than everything else and repetitive, to the point I had to turn the sound down at some points. There is some good practical effects, and one nice one in the last scene. But overall? It’s a bit eh which is a shame cause the mystery had potential.

Yesterday I had been hoping to go and see Hope but I woke and my stomach felt funny. I’d felt a little off on Sunday too but it really hit me in the morning. I decided not to risk it, especially since Hope was so long and had more showings planned.

But ugh mum decided it’d be the perfect time to start argument and that just made it worse. (And then because of both depression got triggered so I spent most of the day in a zoned out state.)

Thinks we’re only resolved in the night but I still felt eh (and then my eyes started to ache too later on).

I did watch the next Strange New Worlds ep. I started season 4 last week (the opening ep was pretty good!) and I just loved The Griffin Incident right from the start. Mysterious abandoned spaceships are always a great concept and as it went on it became more and more clear it was Event Horizon coded. Funnily it too didn’t answer the mysteries it raised but that didn’t seem to matter as it was so well executed. (Plus I hope we see more of this Division 12, I’m so intrigued by them)

I did a little gaming but then by eyes got worse again so I ended up listening to a Doctor Who audio (The Eighth Of March Protectors Of Time - Stolen Futures) which was a pretty good one with Romana II (and K9!) set after her departure, though it was also timey wimey.

My stomach now feels mostly settled which is a plus so we’ll see if I watch Hope tomorrow or just wait until the showing of it Monday (and I’ve still not settled on the Natewantstobattle gig, probably for the best to hold off and see how I feel)

Plan today is mostly rest up, then watch Bake Off and maybe watch something else.

Next post should be spooky season plans since October is only a few days away (fuck where has the year gone??)

The past few days have been same as usual, low energy. This is mostly cause my sleep for most days has been unsettled with bad dreams (like no I don’t wanna think about Midna being hurt, stop that).

Tuesday was the library stint which was thankfully quiet. I read one of the Fantastic Four comics and a story from Poirot Investigates so that was something. (But ugh my focus was off in general so I’ve not read Clown In A Cornfield 2 like I hoped at all).

Wednesday I heard there was a thing at Argos where switch 2 games were £20. I decided to go to see if I could get Star Fox but alas, despite it showing up in the system as that, they’d not sell it. It’s pretty clear what happened now though. They had a deal where if you bought a switch 2 you could get a game for £20 but someone clearly messed up.

The trip felt mostly a waste, though I did see cute Guinea pigs and picked up the m and s Christmas book for mum and her friend. (And I got two funkos from TK.) But going there and back for nothing was frustrating and draining.

And speaking of missing out on switch 2 games Hyrule Warriors now isn’t in stock at Smyths so I missed out on that. Damnit. (They still had display copies out today so it’s likely they were the same Monday but still…)

There has been a rumour that there was going to be a Doctor Who cinema showing in November and a that’s turned out to be true. They’re doing a showing of Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit (just titled The Satan Pit) which is one of my fav eps I’ve kept meaning to rewatch. The cinema is getting it so yay! But it’s listed as being 2 hours. Now it has been said it’d be edited and extended but that’s a full half hour longer so ???

The remote for the tv went missing and we had no luck trying to find it Thursday (and still have no idea where it is) so I had to order a new remote. Thankfully the base price was less than the last one and it had 20% off as well but still… I’ve no idea where it is.

Last night I finished the first season of The Pitt and damn, that whole thing was A Lot. Especially when the Pittfest stuff happened. But it was so good, just intense. I’m not gonna start season 2 for awhile, mostly cause spooky season is coming. (So there’s Below and Yaga, plus I really do wanna finish The Beauty or American Horror Story, and new Tales From 85 just went live too)

I decided to go and see Howl’s Moving Castle at the cinema today. I had considered making it a double bill with something but Hope was too long (and would be a late night as opposed to Monday’s day showing), I didn’t feel up to watching Coraline and everything else was either later or the same time. (Though I do wanna see Resident Evil again, but I have ordered the 4k steelbook. It’s funny I resisted getting such things and now have three preordered😭)

Before I went I did have an accident, I broke the Bowser keychain I got from the cinema. Thankfully it just broke at the top, so the image isn’t ruined, but it’s still a shame.

Everywhere apart from the cinema felt busy. The train was full, Smyths was full, Burger King was busy (so it took forever to get my food which I felt I needed so didn’t care it wasn’t as warm as usual).

The cinema though was quiet, I think there was about 7 people in there total but that suited me. Though I do wish I’d not missed the last three of the Ghibli films they did (Laputa, Princess Mononoke and Whisper Of The Heart, the latter two I expected cause it was last week)

(The cinema had the Iron Man helmet popcorn bucket but damn it’s £45)

There were three trailers, Forgotten Island (the one I didn’t focus on at Shaun The Sheep), Arietty (cause it’s getting a rerelease too, though I’m not as fussed about seeing that) and only one other. The third was a trailer for Wildwood, but it was less an actual trailer and more about showing off the behind the scenes artistry. And damn it looks so impressive, with all the sets and all the details. It really is so beautiful.

But anyway Howl’s Moving castle really is so beautiful, but that’s to be expected of course. I love the design of the titular castle and the steampunk vibes of the ships and planes. I love Calcifer and turniphead, they’re both cute and Howl is hot of course. And of course Sophie and Marki too.

But it stuck me how anti war it is, especially the scene where they see a warship and Sophie asks who’s it is and Howl’s response is ‘what difference does it make’ and it’s true, because you get the sense of the horror and devastation of war and how people do horrible things in the name of it yet it also feels so… pointless.as wars often are. The reason isn’t really given either (though it seems to do with a missing Prince) though again that doesn’t really matter because whatever the reason it doesn’t justify all of that.

Next cinema trip will be Monday for Hope, which’ll likely be a solo watch cause it’s almost 3 hours (and is when you add trailers and such). But at least it starts at 11:15am which is one of the best showing times

(And I’m still indecisive about the gig next week, why am I in one of those can’t make decision moods)

Tonight gonna watch the rest of Strictly, the new Marble Hall Murders and then… I dunno. Depends how I feel and my focus.

Well today was the hospital appointment and…

I decided to call before we went to see if it was still on (someone on the village went to hospital for something else and found out it was cancelled when she got there) but the call was weird. There was some issue on there end and they sounded far away and didn’t even seem to hear me, so I gave up on the call…

Then when I was in the bathroom before going they called again, but as soon as I spoke they hung up (and the number didn’t accept incoming calls).

Rattled from it, we still went anyway and… it was pointless. I was there about half an hour and saw two people but the tests that they did were just basic ones again. The doctor I saw said I needed replacement glasses but only after having another test, something with electrodes on my head. Of course that means having to go in again (because of course it’s not doable today) so I have to go back again at some undefined point. Ugh.

We went round the stores near the hospital but didn’t get anything (I went in Cineworld cause they had £1 merch but they had all gone, so I dunno why they still head the offer on the screens). Then we went to town to get the bus back and I had a bit of better Lou k.

Forbidden Planet had the Star Trek 60th Anniversary comic (the last one, with Picard) as well as the Trek Evermore oneshot and the Tales From 85 Dustin Funko. They also gave me a freebie of a Batman comic cause of the anniversary which is cool.

What’s with anniversaries lately though? Star Trek, Zelda, Pokémon, Batman all close together for some reason.

So anyway we were back but 1:40 with no answers. (But at least my Project Hail Mary cd soundtrack came)

On the plus side it means I can go to Camp Miasma tonight, I’m just debating whether to go see Resident Evil too. It doesn’t look like they have the Resident Evil bag/bucket, which looks really cool. So if anyone sees one lemme know, I’d gladly pay for it.

I did find out why the cinema had Detective Pikachu seemingly randomly, for the Pokémon anniversary. They even have an event with art on sale and crafting but alas it finishes at 5. If only I hadn’t had the appointment today, ugh.

Other things, I won a copy of the updated Two Point Hospital the other day from a Dev stream, so I’m just waiting for the key to come through.

I’m debating going to the Natewantstobattle gig in Birmingham in just under two weeks. What’s making me hesitate has been the set lists from the American dates, which feel both a bit short and lack any of the Zelda music he’s done. Hopefully at least one gets added for the European leg, though of course the Birmingham date is the second one so I’d likely not find out. (On the plus side if I do I might actually get his music at last.

Anyway now I’m gonna rest a bit before heading out.

Ugh these past days have ended up being so exhausting.

Of course Thursday was the usual post trip tiredness, so I didn’t do too much. Plus I’d had an email saying that mail was coming that day. I wasn’t sure what it was gonna be, cause I’d not ordered anything that was due, but it turned out to be some dtuff I won from a competition! I won a set of merch from a game, so it was two beanies, a tee, a long sleeve tee and a sticker. One of the beanies and the long sleeve is glow in the dark, which are my fav things (cause the hat is purple) but I dunno how the glow is yet.

In the afternoon I did the excavation kit. I couldn’t figure out how to do the hammer chipping so it was mostly just making holes in it with the one tool until I found something. I dunno what the stones are (I assume they’re random and there wasn’t a sheet or anything) so I might have to try and find something.

I was debating if I was able to see Camp Miasma Friday but I was doubting it and mum was trying to convince me not to for the same reason. (Only 7 minutes to get to the last train) I emailed the cinema to see if there were more times coming but had no luck(they replied but it was so inconclusive as to be pointless). Hopefully they do add an additional, and better time. But I do have a back up to see it. A week tomorrow the Birmingham Odeon has it so I might see there, as non ideal as that is.

I had hoped that not going would mean I’d go yesterday and see one of the preview showings of Shaun The Sheep and Laputa, but that didn’t happen for things that’ll be clear.

(Nor did I watch anything Thursday night either.)

I woke Friday thinking it’d be another low energy day and I thought I might start reading something but nope that didn’t happen, because mum complained and wanted the shelving moved into position.

Now as I said in a prior post, I wanted us to set a day in advance so we could work together and split the tasks for it. (One day clear where it would go, another actually getting it them) Instead it was all done that one morning, with me doing the vast majority of it without help. As a result I expended what little energy I had and was so utterly exhausted and achy.

The rest of the day was spent pretty much flagging, it was hard to keep my eyes open at times so naturally I didn’t do much else. It eased up in the night a little so I watched an ep of The Pitt (the aftermath of Pittfest) and Magnum. Plus I was able to sort the shelves a little.

Since the unit has 4 shelves they’re currently in 4 categories. The top two are carried impoverish from the original smaller one.

Top shelf is favs. So that includes Event Horizon, Mamma Mia, the Sonic films, Wildhood.

Second shelf is the Arrow releases. So that includes the Ju-On, Ring and J-Horror Rising boxsets, as well as the Sana Collection.

Third is (currently) ones I’ve not seen. I found a bunch behind the old shelving (and a collection next to the Xbox) and it turns out there’s almost a full shelf worth. Most of these are utterly random ones (I know a bunch were from when Poundland had some and I’d just… get anything I’d not have) but there’s also some (Deadpool 2, the second Venom, the recent Matrix) that I got with intent and never seen. So I’m gonna actually try and watch those. One of the former set is also Daybreaker which I wanna see cause it has Sam Neil.

Bottom is the general section. (Originally this was gonna be split with the third shelf until I found I had so many) not much is here yet until I add stuff from elsewhere, but there’s The House With The Laughing Windows and the recent ones I watched like Obex and Broadcast Signal Intrusion.

I woke Saturday with achy shoulders and tired eyes so knew I’d not be able to go anywhere. Even carrying the bag with my wallet would’ve been too much and I sensed if I was in a dark room I’d go to sleep. So I spent the day pretty much being zoned out.

I did watch the proms which was pretty good, especially the second part with the Dolly tribute and the bald guy singer they had on was fun too. But alas I was too tired to do much else after that.

Dead by daylight has a design contest so if people could vote for the Shane survivor one (page 2 here) that’d be cool. Plus a lot of the designs are cool.

Today I’ve also been mostly tuned out. I watched a two eps of Professor T but then I just had a nap. The trouble is I had one of those… anti naps, in that I woke up feeling not only not rested but in a terrible mood which is so… ugh.

So we’ll see if I do anything tonight after the new pottery throwdown and Mock The Week (I had meant to watch something but…)

This week’s plans are all over the place. The main thing is the hospital trip Saturday which eh. Hopefully there is answers but I don’t expect to. I expect to be messed around again, either by being there all day, told I need to come back for more tests or some other nonsense.

Cinema trip is gonna be Thursday to see Transformers (maybe something else but I’m not sure, maybe Practical Magic 2 if the original is good). I might go to an early Resident Evil showing Friday but it’d be just that.

Watching stuff is hopefully finally getting back to American Horror Story, maybe Practical Magic, hopefully finishing Castle and maybe The Beauty (plus Chelsea Detective is back on tv Wednesday).

Also I hope to book read tomorrow. I’m gonna start either Clown In A Cornfield 2 or Exit 8 (since Exit 8 is only about 100 pages. (Compared to Clown’s 405) or maybe I’ll catch up on the Fantastic 4 comics I have piled up. Or both. Or neither.

Plus I wanna get back on Zero Company which I’ve not been on due to tiredness.

Ughhh the past days have been so…

Friday was a trip to town to see Ponyo. Beforehand I went to Smiths and was able to exchange the book I got the week before (I wasn’t sure cause it was discounted and closing down. They didn’t have Tough Guy which I saw then, but they did have The Long Game so yay.

Then I went to see Ponyo in the cinema.

The majority of the trailers were the same as Kiki’s Delivery Service (cat in the hat, tad and the magic lamp, whisper of the heart, Shaun the sheep) but there was also one for Ice Age Boiling Point which I forgot was gonna be a thing.

Ponyo is the only Ghibli film I have on blu ray, but I’ve only seen it once when I first got it which was… awhile ago. All I could really remember was the song. It was nice to revisit it, especially on a big screen and it is very beautiful. I love underwater stuff so I loved seeing all of that. Plus the visuals of jellyfish swimming by trees and fish swimming along roads.

It did feel a bit… odd having the whole thing have seemingly global consequences, cause it makes the whole sweetness of it feel a bit… I dunno. But it was still good.

I also went in the art gallery cause some exhibits are almost up. I didn’t think too much of them but then I wasn’t the target audience (one was an exhibit for a magazine that). But there was a nice one in the community gallery. Which had these huge diamond things (almost as tall as me) that I couldn’t figure out until I saw in the video that was playing that they were headdresses, which was crazy.

After that I went in Tesco, since I had a voucher to use, so I got my Fantastic 4 comic (I know have a three issue backlog oop), Lego Minecraft magazine and they had a set of the Pokémon Krispy Kreme! It was a box of four, with Pikachu, Charmander, Jigglypuff and a pokeball. Mum had the pikachu (she likes lemon) so I can’t comment on that one but they were pretty good, though they are really sweet.

Not one but two Nintendo directs got announced! There’s a general one on Wednesday, which I’ll miss cause of timing, but the more important one is tomorrow cause it’s a Zelda one! Having a whole direct to itself has got to mean more than one thing. Cause yeah there’s Ocarina getting a date and console, but there’s also the film. But I guess we’ll see if there’s anything else. It’s meant to be about 30 minutes (285( the main one being 45) so that’s plenty of space for stuff.

Saturday wasn’t a terribly busy day, though we watched the Taskmaster charity stream cause Tommy was there but damn. I fully expected it to be an hour or two and it was about 4 hours long, which made it a slog. Instead of like the show, where tasks are mostly pre filmed, it was all live which is what made things so long. It meant I didn’t do much after like I intended.

I did end up listening to the audio of The Nudge, the book by one of the guys that writes welcome to night vale (with Cecil and Kevin from it doing the narration). It was pretty good and it’s only 2 hours though it was definitely unsettling. (Though I did find myself more interested in the hotel they were in)

Yesterday was… I’d hoped we could watch the Disney prom or start watching the Bond boxset up but mum decided it would be a great time to instead start an arguement.

The issue? The shelving.

I had wanted to try and get it set up, so on Wednesday I tried talking to her about it, since she wanted to clean some things where it was going to and doing so would be a two person job. I tried to arrange a time for us to sort it but as I talked she did her usual thing, kept adding things she wanted to do before the shelving until got in place and I knew it would be too time consuming/overwhelming, especially since this week had busy days so I gave up on it…

Cept on Sunday she suddenly wanted it moved from its temporary spot (in front of the drier which is why I wanted it moving, it was in the garage but I moved it when rain was forecast) and it turned into a whole issue. Suffice to say it’s not where I wanted it to be and now she wants it somewhere else but every suggestion she makes is either awkward to get to or defeats the purpose of having it. So… ugh.

On the plus side though while sorting things a few days ago I found a bunch of blu rays I’d forgotten about. Including The Conjuring, one of the Scary Movies (I think 5), a Black Veil Brides concert blu ray and a few other things.

But yeah the fight made be completely zone out and re triggered my depression which had been getting better.

On the plus side I had managed to write which… is something.

Today I went out all day to see Colony and Insidious. But before I even left I had mail from the hospital, where they changed the time of the appointment from 11:15 to 10:30, then finished the message with a snarky comment about changing times. Like bitch, you’re the ones changing the appointment on me you’ve no right to be giving me attitude on what you’re doing.


Before I got to the cinema I went in Aldi and they had Lego polybags, including an Animal Crossing one and one with a ginger kitty. Between films I had noms in Burger King then went in smyths since they had a Grogu Funko, though it was too high to get. They had a snowshark one though so I got that. (They had some other Tales from 87 stuff too.)

But anyway.

Werwulf: I’m still not sold on this and I think seeing the trailer (as I will no doubt) won’t sell me on it
Other Mommy: same as when I saw it last time. Again I’m not sold on it
Verity: New to me but I’m so intruiged. Anne Hathaway in a creepy role? I’m so curious
Resident Evil: Still hyped for this. And ahhh I just saw it’s added to the cinema coming soon, but alas there’s no preview showings
Fall 2: again don’t wanna see this
Hope (the Colony trailer): It looks really great! I’m still surprised the cinema is getting it but I’m so seeing it
Clayface (Insidious trailer): I think this is a new one but it does look pretty good and I’m sold on it.

The next cinema trip is gonna be… I dunno. Camp Miasma is tomorrow but they’ve added two more showings for Friday and Saturday. However they’re both later times. I hate that tomorrow is the best time because I’d so go for it if it wasn’t for the theatre trip the next day. Maybe I’ll risk it and go tomorrow since I won’t be rushing for the last train at least, which would be the issue with Friday and Saturday.

Annoyingly the listings haven’t added any extra times for either Space 1999 or the next Ghibli film (Laputa) so I’m not sure if I’ll see them. Space 1999 is only Sunday but the trains are one an hour instead of the usual two so that makes it annoying. (I had hoped there’d be another showing like with thunderbirds but alas). So I dunno what the plans are. I might see Transformers next week and the following Monday I’ll see Resident Evil/April X (I’m still annoyed I can’t see Resident Evil on release)

Now to flop for the night.

The past few days haven’t been too great due to a triple threat of tiredness, sickness and then depression.

Tiredness was from the cinema trip last Friday, which seemed to hit me harder. For whatever reason. I dunno the cause of the sickness, I assume it was something I ate but it only lasted a night and day (and I wasn’t actually sick). Depression also didn’t have a cause but came over like a dark cloud and has lingered for days, it’s still there and won’t seem to go away, coming stronger at nights which… ugh.

Bleh.

Weekend was mostly uneventful other than watching stuff.

Bond Proms: which was really good, easily the best prom this season. They found such great singers (and even had Lulu back which was sweet). Oddly some slots were taken by music from other things (The Avengers, the man from uncle and I think something else) which felt pretty needless, especially with so many good bond songs. Also the last song, We Have All The Time In The World unexpected made me emotional

Clue: Saw it was on Paramount + so watched it for Tim Curry. It’s still fun and wild to me how they managed to manage to turn a board game into a film and make it work. But I also found out that Carrie Fisher was almost Miss Scarlet which ??

As Above So Below: Saw it was leaving Amazon prime so decided to watch and it’s pretty good, thanks to using the already atmospheric and creepy catacombs under Paris as a starting point. I also love things that have things where they shouldn’t be. And wild to see Higgins from Magnum as the main character

The Sheep Detectives: Watched the blu ray, come for the sheep solving a murder, find out it’s actually deeper and sadder (yes it did get me even more). Still sad the blu ray has nothing in the way of special features, like ??

That was it for film watching. I did watch Futurama (unexpected poly rep??) and Strange New Worlds (which was pretty good and also had Beto back which a plus) but otherwise…. Not much.

Feeling sick meant I didn’t see Insidious Monday as planned, so I switched to my back up day of yesterday… but I didn’t do that either, due to the updated cinema listings. (So next cinema trip is tomorrow, just to see Ponyo, plus use Tesco vouchers I got in the mail)

The cinema has added more showings for Colony, which was gonna be just at 8pm Monday, so I’m gonna see it at the new time of 12pm and then follow it with Insidious.

Also the listings, finally, added Camp Miasma but only have three showings and each one is terrible. The first is Saturday but it’s not until 10:30pm (which isn’t usually a time the cinema has) and so it ends an hour after the last train. Sunday as one at 8:50pm which ends 5 minutes before the last train (and I don’t think I’d be fast enough to get it). The third is Tuesday at 8pm, which usually would be a good time… but we’re going to the theatre for The Mousetrap the following day so…

I’m hoping more showings get added Monday on the new listings but if not… I will probably try for it, even though it’s not a good idea.

Sigh.

Anyway, I did have luck with some things. Sonic x Shadow Generations deluxe was on sale on the switch 2 so I was able to pick it up on Monday, hours before it left the sale. It’s good timing cause fortnite made me want sonic stuff. Will I actually play it or will it be like Bonnie Bear or Viewfinder and just sit there? Stay tuned and find out.

Also while out with Naryu we saw a shop with a shelving unit outside for £15. I’d wanted to get a bigger one for my blu rays but wasn’t sure if it would be the right size, so I grabbed one from home, checked and got it when it fit. It is quite big (four times the size of the one I was using) and was a bargain (the ones I was looking at were twice the size of the one I was using and £25). The downside is that it can’t fit things bigger than blue rays, so some boxsets won’t fit (so Ghostwatch can’t fit, nor can the Doctor Who blu rays). But I’m fairly sure it could probably fit every other blu ray I have, though the top shelf is still gonna be favs and second arrow films.

The other downside? I’d got a place I was going to put it, but of course mum raised objections and wants stuff doing there and it’s slowing getting it set up. Which is especially annoying since there’s not much time over the next week and it’s currently in front of the washer. (I had put it in the garage but moved it when we were due a storm). So I feel this’ll be a source of stress and tiredness. Sigh

But anyway, plan tonight is Taskmaster, attempting to find something to distract my depression brain and then tomorrow’s town trip. (We’ll see if the blu ray shelf can get sorted over the weekend)
