So last night I ended up watching the next of the Doctor Who run, which was Resurrection Of The Daleks. It’s always funny to me that the last three Dalek stories of old who were R word of the daleks.

With a title like that there’s no room for doubt who the villains are gonna be. Sometimes I do wonder if they considered making these eps without Dalek in the title, as so many old who ones (including this one) hold them back for awhile. Then again maybe the thing isn’t the surprise of them showing up, but the anticipation, knowing they’ll show up.

Anyway, the basic plot of the thing is after the last dalek ep (way back in Destiny of the Daleks) Davros is captured and being held in a prison, but the daleks want him back to help them after a virus depleted their numbers.

I did really like this one, even though it is pretty bleak. Much like Warriors Of The Deep virtually everyone in this one dies so it has a really high body count. The thing is though it is a Dalek episode, so lots of people dying isn’t exactly a surprise.

That said some eps lean into that by making us not care about the people. However this ep does have interesting people. (Bar the people killed at the start which did feel a tad needless) There’s a military bomb squad, an interesting mercenary called Lytton plus the crew of the space station holding Davros.

Said crew is a highlight partly because the script called it an ‘international ‘ space station and the crew took that literally, casting black and Indian actors in key roles which made the crew notably diverse which was nice to see. My fav of the crew was Styles, the Doctor. I just loved her whole attitude. Though it was funny that the stations actual captain (mentioned numerous times as a dick) never shown up and just got killed offscreen.

It does puzzle me know that the prison holding such a dangerous captive isn’t full equipped to deal with a Dalek attack. Then again he has been there for 90 years, so maybe they figured they’d have done it by now and so gotten lax as a result.

Of course Davros also betrays the daleks, which means the daleks plan would’ve been screwed up even without the doctor being there (which happens too in the next dalek ep). Ironically by making sure the doctor was caught in the time corridor all they did was unsure they’d get fully destroyed.

It’s also Tegan’s last ep and her decision to go makes sense, it’s certain valid after the death, but it is a shame the ep wasn’t more focussed on her as a result. She’s pretty much kept in one place most of the time which is a shame but at least the team get to face off against the daleks (and the fifth doctor gets to push one out a window which is cool!). Plus the locations and sets used are really good. I was really surprised the interiors of the warehouse were sets and not just shot there, they looked so good. Plus I’did really like the costumes, even though the Dalek trooper helmets did look a tad silly.

All in all solid ep, next is Planet of Fire, which might be next week after watching the other special features. (resurrection has two discs)

Yesterday ended up being a low energy day (hence not doing this post then) I did end up getting Tomodachi life and the island is Seapeekay, Waterparks, 5 Seconds Of Summer and now Ray Toro. The funny thing is that Callum and Geoff fell for each other pretty quickly which was so funny, so they were a couple within a day of getting the game (Callum even wanted to propose! Though I messed up the mini game). But they are so in love, I gave them guitars and they both serenaded each other, it’s so cute. (Key topics of discussion on the island are boy kissing and eating ass)

I do love all the customisation features, with the quirks and stuff and I’m look8ng forward to seeing the other antics they’ll get up to (and adding more). I just wish I was a better artist for the customisation stuff.

(I am a bit annoyed though that there wasn’t a new High Potential ep to watch yesterday like WTF? Why’d it end the season on that?? At least there’s another one coming but gah)

Also today we finally went back to see the ducklings and we got to see them! Pic under the cut.

I also had an email from hmv with a deal on and I’m wondering if anyone can look over these and let me know if they’ve seen them. The only one I’ve seen is Broadcast Signal Intrusion (which has Harry Shum Jr) but that was forever ago. I’m thinking of We’re All Going To The Worlds Fair cause I’ve heard it mentioned and I’m curious but…

This week is gonna be a pretty quiet week with no cinema trips (planned anyway) and I’m only really heading out cause of picking up mums meds. I do wanna read more (looking at you Mandalorian and Grogu visual guide and Strange Pictures and Heated Rivalry) and watch more stuff (looking at you Heated Rivalry and The Beauty) but the stranger things animated series is this week and I have a morbid curiosity. I sense it’ll just raise unnecessary questions. But at the same time, plant monsters

comments

So I did end up going today, though more cause mum announced (last night) that I was ‘going no matter what’ which kinda meant I didn’t have a choice.

The new sfx came this morning, so I took that with me and read some of the reviews. The cover of the issue is about Stranger things tales of 85, plus the issue has stuff on From (which I need to watch) and some horror things. The teaser for the next one has Lestat (I still need to watch Interview).

Once I was in town I went straight to the record store and didn’t have too much luck. It had been open since 8 and I got there after 10 so I wasn’t surprised the BMTH album had gone (and they didn’t even get the Pokémon one). It wasn’t a total loss though, I did get the Doctor Who one, which was a red vinyl of The Rescue.

The Smiths had Star Wars cards which surprised me so I got some, along with some cheap sweets and drink.

Then I went in the art gallery. Third floor was closed to prep for a new exhibit and some other rooms seemed closed off too alas, but there was a nice photography one on the top floor and I saw my fav painting that they have (this one). What surprised me though was seeing there was a Picasso and a Van Gogh in the regular collection.

(Speaking of art we’ve been watching something about japan every week night, one ep had cute deer! And mum saw the great wave painting and loved it which was sweet)

I didn’t go anywhere else really but from a cancer charity shop I got a bake off apron, Fairy Tail dvd, Agatha Christie book and hellfire duvet set.

At the cinema I had waffle fries and read some of the sfx.

I ended up seeing The Magic Faraway Tree and The Mummy which were both wildly different. One was U and the other was 18.

But first trailers. A fair few were ones I’d seen but new to me were
Charlie the wonderdog: looks fun enough, basically a dog gaining powers cause of aliens and so saves people (plus there’s an evil cat)
Hitpig: trailer felt too short to come up with proper thoughts but it looks nice
Ice Cream Man: First time seeing the trailer and… eh. I don’t think I’ll see it. (Kids killing adults causa something in ice cream just doesn’t sound appealing)
Evil Dead Burn: wasn’t too sure what to make of trailer but then I’ve not seen Evil Dead fully before so…

Other stuff was standard current horror film trailers: Passenger (not the new one sadly), Obsession, Backrooms (yay Backrooms twink!), Hokum (a new trailer, which is better at selling it). I’m probably gonna see all of those.

And now film thoughts. Under a cut as always.

That ends month 9 of the pass. Ironically I’ve seen 9 films during it, which is the most I’ve done in a month. (Also with these last 2 I’m over 20 for the year already which is crazy when you think most ray I’d be lucky to hit 5 the whole year).

Month 9: March 20th - April 20th
20: Project Hail Mary
2: They Will Kill You, Ready Or Not Here I Come
4: Arco, Super Mario Galaxy (3D)
13: Exit 8, Undertone
18: The Magic Faraway Tree, The Mummy

Obviously my fav of these was a Project Hail Mary but most of them are all pretty strong. I feel They Will Kill You is the only real weak link and even that was still entertaining enough.

Next cinema trip should be Hokum or maybe the Sheep Detectives or both (but I would like to see Hail Mary again too)

I have, belatedly, watched the next Doctor Who ep in my run (Resurrection Of The Daleks) but thoughts on thwt will come later cause I’ve happend enough and yawning.

comments

Ugh these past few days have been such low energy which has turned to depression energy which… ugh. It’s been a mix of exhausting and annoying.

This hasn’t really been helped by issues the past days too.

First the cats haven’t been eating that ludicrously expensive food mum strongarmed me into trying for them. The usual stuff didn’t come with the shopping either so right after the food shop was delivered I off, alone and tired, to the co-op by the station. Naturally that meant I came back and was tired, so just flopped upstairs.

Wednesday mum got moody, which leaked onto me so that night was just… bleh. I dunno I try and keep my bad moods/thoughts inside so they don’t infect people and she doesn’t even bother.

Yesterday was already gonna be stressful cause of the stupid call. At least it’s with the usual one guy, who is usually just a yapper instead of being rude.

But ugh. So last week the vacuum stopped working and I told mum when my money went in I’d see about sorting one. Trouble is she found one on Amazon and it was on easy payments, which was fine… until it had been put on an old card and when I changed it to a current one it must have changed it so instead of being around £22 out came almost £140 which… ugh. I didn’t even know until I checked money yesterday before it came and was so frustrated.

Mum paniced about it and almost sent it back but I just…ugh. It’s the timing which is irritating. It’s record store day tomorrow and the whole thing has really put me off wanting to go.

The record shop has put up details (so I know prices of all the stuff) but it also opens at 8 am which is pretty much an impossibility to get there for so even if I go I might not get what I want (and one thing I hoped for isn’t in the listening). So… ugh I dunno what’s happening tomorrow. I’ve gone back and forth all day and it’s not helped my mood.

(Also oddly free comic book day, which is in two weeks, doesn’t have any marvel stuff at all. Usually it has a regular Marvel thing, sometimes 2, and a Star Wars one, but there’s nothing which is so odd)

***

Oh the good side of things (cause there has been some).

I got just one thing from the hmv Arrow sale, which was Warning From Space which came the other day. It’s a Japanese sci fi film with literal starfish aliens so I’ve wanted to see it for awhile. I’d also preordered Cold Storage (as a 4k exclusive) and got a student discount for both which was a plus.

Monday was also Maul, which was pretty good! I love the series so far.

Unfortunately I’ve not felt like reading anything, either comics, magazines or books, mostly cause mood and energy have been trash which sucks. Nor have I been able to watch stuff (I had hoped to watch the next Doctor Who ep and the Artemis thing that was on tv but saw neither)

Yesterday a package from fadefur came which included a cute lil snail, t-shirt, pins and other nice things plus a sweet note. There was also the Dustin figure which is so cool! It’s still baffling to me they only did 3 series 5 figures that scale. I know they’d not do everyone but you’d think they’d have done at least Vecna and Will. but ah well.

There was also a new Mandalorian trailer last which was so cool. I really am so hyped for the film! It’s wild that the odeon are getting an AT-AT popcorn bucket which apparently has lights and sounds and looks wild.

Today’s been a low energy day, but I did go on the Tomodachi Life demo thing which has made me want the full game. Maybe I’ll get it tomorrow if I don’t go, or if the main record I want isn’t there.

comments

So today was a cinema trip so this is a post about that.

When I got to town I only went in a few places. I went in Poundland to get lightbulbs (the one at the top of the stairs has gone) then Aldi to get pasta (I picked up a leaflet and the new pasta sounded nice.) Then popped in Asda. I had some luck again! They had the new Mandalorian visual guide, which I didn’t even know was out, and it was half off! So naturally I grabbed it. And they also had copies of Project Hail Mary so I got that too.

I read some of the Mandalorian visual guide between films and I’m so looking forward to going through it properly.its hefty covering all three seasons of the show (plus some of Book Of Boba Fett) and it starts with a new map. Damn I love it when a book starts with a galaxy map, I love looking through it, spotting familiar plants and also seeing things and wanting to know what they are,

The trailers before Exit 8 were a bit puzzling, in that only one was a horror.

Micheal: A new one, again it looks like it’s well done but not something I’d go watch
Power Ballad: A few with Paul Rudd and one of the Jonas brothers. It seems the latter stole a song the former wrote and made it a hit
Two women: A French film, about two women that seem to be unhappy with their lives. Probably won’t see feels it could be funny
Backrooms: I’d seen this trailer online but ahh seeing it on a big screen (twice!) was so good especially since it’s confirmation we’re getting it! I’m so sold on the concept of a strange space, plus it’s part found footage which I love, plus it meant I got to see the Backrooms twink on the big screen

The trailers for Undertone were pretty much the ones I’ve seen for recent horror things (with Undertone switched out for Backrooms): Scary Movie, Passenger, Obsession, The Mummy, Hokum.

Thoughts on both under the cut.

Next cinema trip should be Saturday for record store day but I’m not sure what. I was hoping to see the new Mummy film, but the earliest showing is 3 and the films before that are kinda… lacking. I could see Mario Galaxy again, or Project Hail Mary, or I could see the magic faraway tree but I’m not sure. We’ll see.

After that it’s Hokum, then The Sheep Detectives.

Now I’m gonna bundle up a bit.i had considered watching something but I don’t feel I have the energy.

comments

So yesterday was the trip to Birmingham to see Death On The Nile.

Going round the town beforehand was kinda eh, mostly due of time/money. Not helped by mum seeing a trail thing for pet food at the station and getting us signed up for it before realising how much it was (trial price was just under £20, which is half off which is crazy). I’d have probably gone to the big hmv (I was looking for something in the sale, the bullring hmv didn’t have it and it’s out of stock online) but being with mum made me reluctant cause of how far away it was and how achy she’s been lately.

I did check in the odeon for the Mario luma things but alas, they had none. (Same with McDonald’s they didn’t have Mario toys, despite me asking specifically before paying for them). We only went in McDonald’s cause mum had a voucher but ugh. The usual veggie thing I used to have isn’t there anymore and I had a mcplant and hated it. Ugh.

For the forbidden planet by the theatre I got the new Maul comic, plus a Fantastic Four First Steps one. (Alas no Strange Buildings, or Exquisite Corpses 11 but I still need to catch up on it)

Before the show we picked up a theatre guide and there’s an Open Day next month. It’s on free comic book day so I booked us in so we’ll have that to do. (It’s a little vague on the details but should be interesting.) also in there were getting Annie with La Voix (I dunno if I’m interested enough to see it but it’s pretty cool) and Paranormal Activity (I’m kinda curious, like how do you make a found footage film a stage performance?) it’s gonna be there late October, with a ghost tour thing after some performances so I might try for it.

The show itself was really good! It was done by the same people that did Murder On The Orient Express, with the same guy playing Poirot (and there’s a new adaption by them of The Hollow which is good to have a lesser adapted work). The staging was really well done as they’d got it set up as two levels, so it was set up like two decks of a ship. At first it looked like the upper floor was just a walkway with railings, but it could be opened up into a full room too! That was really cool.

The story mostly plays out how previous adaptions were done (I say it that way cause I’ve not read the book yet) but there were some notable differences. The first was the boat trip also included the return of a sarcophagus (a prop which looked rather nice). This meant that there was a scene of Linnet getting trap inside it after posing for a photo inside. (I’m guessing that this was done as it’s difficult to have a side trip to to ruins with masonry to fall on stage.) It did work out pretty well.

The second was Salome Otterbourne, who was a former novelist now attempting to be an actor. She also had a lil of the kleptomaniac traits of Marie from other adaptions (her and Miss Bowers were some of the characters omitted). Most notable was that she didn’t die. In fact only Linnet was the only victim. That did mean the second half did feel a bit more streamlined, but it still worked well.

(Oddly though there were lots of seats, we were the only ones on our section of the row and no one was in front which felt odd)

On the train journey I finished off Hawkins Horrors. As a whole it was pretty good! Anthologies of spooky stories (which this was) tend to be a mixed bag but they were all pretty strong. Even the weakest one (Lucas’ Two Lunches) was still pretty good. I wish Steve and Robin each had their own stories instead of sharing one (even though it was one of the good ones!).

When I got back, after watching Taskmaster, I got hit by a wave of tiredness which ended up adding sadness which… eh wasn’t great, I put on an audio to distract but couldn’t focus, then zoned out and went to bed.

Alas this morning we went to see if the ducklings were there but no sign of them. I’m assuming they were in the reeds hiding, since we didn’t see any female ducks either. It’s a shame cause I took my pad for pics but I had a feeling I’d not see them cause of that.

(I also didn’t watch The Copenhagen Test Wednesday, getting sidetracked by qsmp so that’s something I’ve gotta watch)

Next few days/week I wanna get back to watching stuff. I’ve got a few things I wanna finish (Heated Rivalry, The Beauty, The Amazing Digital Circus) before starting other things. I also wanna finish Welcome To Derry and get back to American Horror Story, both of which I’ve put off. Maybe when my mindset is better, I know I’ll need it for Welcome To Derry.

I also wanna try and set a day for blu ray watching but we’ll see if I can settle on a day.

Now though I’m gonna bundle, maybe ponder and game.

comments

Time for a post that’s equal parts random rambling and who rambling.

The rest of easter weekend was mostly low energy, spent nomming eggs and not doing too much.

Saturday night I watched The Mortuary Assistant on shudder and… it didn’t really hit for me. I’m not sure what it was, maybe it was just cause I was tired but I just didn’t really vibe with it. The effects were pretty good though and there was some scares were good but… I dunno. Sometimes that is what it is.

Sunday was dnd and I am just so baffled. Not by the decision itself but by the dice. I have the dice I use for the session (it started as one set, then became 2) in a dice tray that I keep up but slowly they have dwindled down. First it was Leia knocking them and I still haven’t found them but they’ve still gone after that.mthis time I went to roll and… there wasn’t a d20. In fact there were just 5 dice left. Thankfully there was another to hand but I’m so baffled

(I had hoped to find an on theme dice set at the con but I got sidetracked by mystery sets instead, cause the first set I got was a mystery set and was on brand [and is one of the sets that are awol])

Anyway, my focus has been off again so I’ve not wrote like I hoped (or done the music psot which should hopefully be soon, this weekend soon

But! I did finish listening to the Torchwood audio I picked up on sale awhile back (I think it was with the advent sale?) which was Torchwood Soho Parasite. I listened to the first half around when I was sick, but I dunno why I delayed finishing it so long. It was really good though! Horrific and twisted at times, especially in one part which has a flashback to the aftermath of nazi experiments (cause yeah this is set just after world war 2). And I did love the new character of Lizbeth, she’s woefully under appreciated by her superiors (mainly cause she didn’t want anything to do with aforementioned nazi experiments, but she’s also a woman and a lesbian so those also played a part). And Norton is fun I love him and Sgt Andy and the other new guy Lyme. It has made me wanna listen to the rest of the series, there’s 3 more boxsets so I’m gonna keep an eye out if they come in sales.

Speaking of Doctor Who (or adjacent at least) last night I watched the next Who ray episode which was Frontios. Frontios is sone of those scenarios that Doctor Who has done a few times: it’s the far future re and the last humans are in being menaced by an outside force. In this case said humans are the survivors of a crashed ship, eking out an existence on the titular Frontios. If that’s not bad enough meteors keep hitting the colony and the earth is hungry…

There’s a lot to like with this one. The sets look really good, Turlough has a nice plot line (having race memories of the villains) and there’s nice visuals of the tardis console room in the tunnels. I also really like the doctor here, how he didn’t want to get involved but since he was there he can’t help but help. (Which did make me wonder why he was so reluctant, did he know something about Frontios?)

It was funny to me that this was meant to be a last colony of humans… and there were only two women shown clearly on screen. The gender balance is an issue with older who but did felt a little glaring here.

The tractators were a nice concept, their designs based on wood lice, but alas the restraints of production went against them, meaning all they could really do is shuffle around, not looking terribly threatening. (A shame cause they are pretty devious). Clearly they’ve had some dealings with time lords before too, knowing what a tardis is and being so sure the doctor was sent specifically to stop them.

I did watch the making of after and it was nice to see the guy that played the Plantagenet big uo Sarah Jane Adventures (he guest starred in an ep) which makes me wanna finally do a run again. It was also shocking that one of the guest actors had to be changed last minute, because the original actor got murdered!

But it was a pretty good ep, grim of course cause of the setting and concepts, but it’s good. Next time is Resurrection of the daleks which, obviously features the daleks.

But back agin, on Monday I watched the first eps of the new Maul series and I’m intrigued so far. Yeah when it was announced I was a bit eh, mostly cause I’m sick of stuff in the rise of the empire era and want stuff outside of it. But so far it is really good, I like the vibes of Maul getting revenge on people that screwed him over and that it’s set on a world seemingly outside the empire (there’s a cop character and he doesn’t want the empire involved, even though facial rec flagged Maul), I’m curious to see how it pans out cause it is so great so far! And looks so nice. And he has a delightfully devious droid.

Also I’ve finally got back to Fake Documentary Q. The Last Countdown was a bit ?? But a film Inferno was so so creepy with that cave.

Today is mostly gonna be a rest day. I’m gonna try Pokémon Champions, then tonight I’m gonna see what the Copenhagen Test is like. Tomorrow is a trip out, we’ve got theatre tickets for Death On The Nile so it’s mostly just gonna be go and see that and look at stuff. (Timing is terrible for a trip really, especially since the vacuum has fucked up but ah well)

Monday is gonna be the cinema trip for Exit 8. It was funny that, until quite late yesterday, the listings for the day were just two showings of Exit 8 (a second got added the other day) and one other thing. I might be seeing undertone with it, but that means it’s gonna be a late night like They Will Kill You/Ready Or Not. I dunno why they’re only having Undertone to have late night showings but ah well.

I started this post before walking Naryu and now I’m back I wanna end this by going ahh! We went to see the ducks, cause we haven’t been there in awhile (causa bad weather/roadworks blocking the way) but we went today and ahh! There were ducklings! 12 of them! Of course I didn’t have anything to take pics of them but will try Friday.

comments

Yesterday ended up being a kinda tiring day. I was recharging from the late night cinema trip then we had to head out to get some stuff from the co-op (the one by the station not up the road, cause we had a voucher for there).

That meant I didn’t do much yesterday, just watching a random film on tv (Carry On Dick, which makes me wonder are the Carry On films known outside of the uk?), then beyond paradise before zoning out.

This morning I went to town again. I got the little Easter egg make and take from the entertainer, as well as a big plush of Nubs (on clearance, it’s a shame the young Jedi adventures stuff is reduced so often but then I’ve not watched as much of it as I should). Then got some bits for mum before the cinema.

Trailers:
Oddly there were two concert trailers before Arco, one for Billie Eilish, one for BTS. (So BTS fans, check your cinemas there shows being shown) I should really listen to them, I’ve only really heard the few Fortnite songs
Both films had The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer which made me squee. I’m so excite for it.
The Sheep Detective is one of those trailers that’s instantly made me wanna see it. Hugh Jackman is a shepherd who reads to his sheep. When they find him dead they take it on themselves to solve the mystery. I’m so so sold on this. It looks so fun.
Also there was Moana and Michael (Seen before), a new Minions trailer (I wanna see it) and Toy Story 5 which looks like it might be fun.

Onto film thoughts, first for Arco, then Super Mario Galaxy.

I felt too tired to do anything else in town so just came back home (plus it was ten minutes till the next train). Tonight I’m gonna bundle up, then maybe watch or listen to something (after magic arena for the week).

Next cinema trip should be Exit 8!

comments

So I did go to the cinema today! Before I left I had a delivery though, of a Lego bunny set. Someone had put up instructions of Rocky from Project Hail Mary using the set and I totally caved to get it. (I built him tonight before this post, may post pics later)

In town I picked up some things mum wanted, feminine stuff she had vouchers for and the Lego Easter sets before going to the cinema.

I got the Mario Galaxy cup they had, which came with a keyring! I chose bowser which is pretty cool. (I got early because I knew how crazy the next days would likely be). Pics tomorrow in light. (They also had a popcorn tin but that seemed pricy and basic) After nomming some waffle fries I went up for the films.

But first, trailers! These were the same for both which makes sense given they were the same genre but it felt a shame there wasn’t even one different. They were:
Scary Movie: I’d seen this one before, it looks like it’ll be really funny and dumb, I’ve not seen the scary movie films for awhile so I’ll have to look them up
Passenger: Same trailer as before (well more a short scene) and I’m still super curious about it
Obsession: New trailer that I’d not seen. This one has made me jinda curious, especially how the woman’s face is always hidden which is kinda sus and intruiging
Hokum: new to me trailer, I’d seen another longer one which had made me curious, the vibes look really good
The Mummy: a different trailer than before, but I dunno I didn’t vibe with this one as much. I’ll still probably see it since I’ll be in town anyway
Undertone: I’m so sold on this one, cause I’m a sucker for haunted tech and thags the vibe I’m getting. Also the way it used the cinemas audio in the trailer alone makes me excite for it.

Before I get into them it is kinda funny that two films with similar themes came out so close to each other. They probably would have worked better not releasing as close but then maybe someone thought that’d capitalise on a double bill which… well it worked on me so I guess there’s a point there.

Thoughts under the cut for They Will Kill You then Ready Or Not Here I Come.

Now though I’m gonna bundle up and tomorrow is gonna be a rest day, I might go out on Saturday to get the Lego make and take from The Entertainer and see Mario Galaxy and Arco but we’ll see. Plus the newly found Doctor Who eps go live tomorrow too.

comments

So it’s another month already what?? Same with Pokémon Conceige, I really liked the first ep but for some reason haven’t gone back to it. Note to self, watch more of both.

There was also finishing the current [redacted] episodes and I really love the series so far. I’ve said it before but if you like shows like The X-Files or Fringe, you're gonna like this.

Also yay for finishing things, both Pokémon ZA and Halloween Party. Plus starting and reading Hawkins Horrors. I had hoped to finish it last month but alas no.

Cinema wise it added two films that will be my favs of the year, Cold Storage and Kangaroo. Completely different vibes but I love them so many. I need to get Cold Storage when it’s out.

March

Fics wrote: A Matter Of Time
Books read: Hawkins Horrors - Lovers Lake, Girls Just Want To Have Fun
Games done: pokopia
Podcast: Welcome To Night Vale - The Story Of Hanukkah,
Who audios: Torchwood Soho Parasite - The man from room 13, Meet mr Lyme, the mould
Other Big Finish stuff:
Comics read: Fantastic Four 9
Graphic novels read:

Things watched
Amazon Prime: Found Footage The Series - Stop Copying Me
Blu Ray: Clown In A Cornfield, Warriors Of The Deep Special Edition, Ready Or Not, The Awakening, Super Mario Bros Movie
DVD: Murder She Said
Disney+: Phinea And Ferb - Space Adventure/Droogenfest, Doofercise/Croquet Y-8, Dinner Reservations/Bread Bowl Hot Tub, The Simpsons - Thanksgiving Of Horror, High Potential - In The Driver’s Seat, If You Come For The Queen, Pie In The Sky, Turn Up The Heat
Netflix: The Amazing Digital Circus - Pilot
Now tv:
Shudder: Bodycam
YouTube: tubbo - the drunkest I’ve ever been, Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct, Mystery Files - The Disturbing Mystery Of The Pollock Twins, Did The Us military find a ufo crash site?, Revoid - Neon Denons
Cinema: Hoppers, How To Make A Killing, Project Hail Mary

Match had much less and I blame both the drilling and sickness meaning I didn’t have the focus for as much as I hoped. I had hoped to watch more Heated Rivalry, but every time I planned to something came up.p or my eyes got too achy to watch something. I’ll add it to The Beauty and Pokémon Concierge as something to watch more this month.

Watching things was mostly High Potential, which is always awesome and I did start The Amazing Digital Circus. Mostly that was cause Seapeekay shown an ep during the subathon he did and I was curious to see how it started. (I can definitely see the hype!) Plus I finally watched Clown In A Cornfield’s blu ray and a new who boxset came. Plus a rarity! The dvd section actually had something! It was planned to watch the Margaret Rutherford Marple boxset but we only watched one.

Another film added to my top ones of the year got added too, with Project Hail Mary. I’m still thinking about that last scene, it makes me so happy. I hope they put preorders up soon for the blu ray. I’m so tempted to see it again but it’s so long and I’ve got other things to see. (That makes it third film I’ve wanted to see twice since getting the pass but I didn’t see those either)

**

Tonight is very much a coin flip and depends how I’m feeling after lunch.

I’m either gonna do a cinema trip, which would be for They Will Kill You and Ready Or Not 2, or I’m gonna stay home and bundled and watch The Mortuary Assistant tonight (it got added to shudder last week). Either way I’ll do a post with thoughts.

The thing with the cinema trip is it’s the last time I can see both together, but it’s 6 and 8:15 respectively. They are showing next week some days, but both are at after 8 and one showing and I’m not too keen on doing two late night showings (especially since I wanna see Exit 8 which is a late night one, and cause of a theatre trip next week).

This month is gonna be a big cinema trip month from the look of it. Super Mario Galaxy (maybe with Arco), Exit 8, Undertone (hopefully together), The Mummy (on Record store day, possibly with something else), Hokum.

There were new trailers the other day too, for Masters Of The Universe and Backrooms and I’m hyped for both.

comments

So tonight was the 5 Seconds Of Summer gig, yipee!

That meant going to Birmingham and I didn’t leave until just after 4. I didn’t really spend any time in Birmingham itself, just heading to the venue. And ugh there’s road works on the way there too! Has everyone decided to do it at once? I was hoping to pick up some food on the way but honestly the noise put me off even looking.

At the venue I joined the queue and didn’t have too long to wait to get inside. A merch stand was right in front of the doors but the queue stretched right round the venue, until a member of staff pointed out there was a second stand round the corner. I got a tee and a badge, but it’s annoying they also had paper bags for people but only if you met a certain limit… but didn’t say what it was. That was annoying cause it did look nice. If it had been £50 I’d have just got another pin but I suspect it was higher.

(I’m also annoyed the tour merch on the site lists a keyring and bracelet, neither of which actually seem to be at shows thus far)

Then I got to my ep seat and it was a pretty good view, on the opposite side of the stage to where I was last time and a little closer. It’s funny the last time I was there was for Sleep Token, which felt almost like a religious experience, 5 Seconds was a different experience altogether but I’ll get to that.

First a complaint. The venue had awful Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi at parx was fine the whole time I used it, for this show the wi-fi connected for 0.2 seconds (enough to get notifications) but then wouldn’t connect again. It feels absurd a venue that big doesn’t have working wi-fi. Ugh.

Anyway! There were two supports, the first was a band called Haiden Henderson, fronted by a blonde American twink in a leather jacket. They were pretty good, also did a cover of poker face. The second band were South Arcade and they were ok. I didn’t vibe with them really, but that’s ok, supports can be hit or miss.

Then I decided to use my kindle app on the phone, reading some of Strange Pictures chapter 1, which I finished on the train home. It’s such a clever concept using art like that as well as text and I’m curious what the rest will be like.

Before I go further, here is a picture of the stage (and a good idea of my view). As you can see the stage also has a ring with a small pit in the middle, at the back is Ashton’s drumkit, set atop the front of a limo (see ). Also here is the stage lit up. (There was also three large screens, one either side of the stage and third big curved one behind it)

When the show started text came up, about how 5 seconds of summer were a band doing a show in Birmingham, then ending that is was ‘their final performance’ it felt a tad like those found footage films that start with text saying similar things. The show was interspersed with videos of the band, documentary style but clearly not serious and they were pretty funny at times.

Like with the Waterparks show the gig was split into a total of seven ‘acts’: The Peak, The Fall, The Yearning, The Breakup, The Rise, The Beginning, The Return. The basic story, told via the videos, was them winning an award, going off the rails, breaking up, then coming back together as a band. (One scene also had them in bandages and Ashton with an eye patch which… eye patch hot)

The funniest part was probably a bit in the second act where they had a slideshow, where they all did some talking, some of it clearly improv,, especially the section on ‘know your local pop culture’. (Every place is different ours was this) And there was a comment from Luke that Calum’s legs were ‘too close together’ which is wild when he’s wearing a skirt/kilt.

One of my favourite parts was how, at the start of one act, Ashton’s drumkit rise up on a platform in the middle of the loop so he was playing to the crowd. It was nice cause everyone else could move around the length of it, but obviously he couldn’t cause drummer (he did go there with a guitar fir an acoustic song)

Speaking of Ashton another highlight was his drumkit having multiple cameras which meant he got to be on the big screens, showing off his big sweaty arms which was very… nghhh. Please bands do this more, we need to show drummers love.

Due to my positioning I missed some of the gay antics. I saw Luke preparing to get on his knees and got flashed by lights so missed it. Also there was a few times of Luke, Calum and Micheal close but they were also either hit by pits or the other side of the stage. I did appreciate Calum in his kilt this one in plaid (I still think the first black one was best). Speaking of outfits Ashton was still in his black one which I love, with stars on it (and wouldn’t look out of place in a fetish club).

Music wise they played. A lot of songs I love, No Shame, Teeth, Easier, Everyone’s A Star (saved till the encore oddly despite it being the tour name), Evolve, Boyband, Not Okay. Thankfully they didn’t play Ghost but they also didn’t play The Rocks or Red Desert either, or Valentine.

The breakup section had them all playing solo songs which was nice. Ashton is super talented to sing while drumming (though I wish it had been one from Blood On The Drummers) and Micheal’s was Enough which really got me. But it was nice to have them all playing one of their songs with the others.

I’m sure I’m missing one thing or another about the set, (partly cause not remembering, partly cause missing it) but it was a lot of fun. It was really awesome to finally see them and I just know I’ll see them again if they come back, cause they put on a great show, not just performance wise, but all the bits were so funny.

(There was also confetti and I got two pieces)

I just know the whole thing is gonna lead to 5sos fic and everything else put on hold until I at least do one. What? Who knows.

The way back was a pain cause the way I was familiar with was closed off, but I got to the station in amble time and got some cheap sushi to nom on, then finished Strange pictures on the way.

comments

So the music post I was planning yesterday fell by the wayside, oops. I did start it I just… got sidetracked and couldn’t watch the things I planned for it (cause I wanted thoughts fresh in my head)

I love that everything I’ve seen about the 5 Seconds of summer show is super slutty, like Calum in a skirt, Luke on his knees, mic sharing, Ashton’s fit. Also I’m so amused, one of the pieces of merch has Calum’s name misspelled like how?

But anyway!

Today was Megacon so this post is gonna be able that. It was odd being up and active so early. I’m not usually a morning person but I was out for the 8:37 train. I spent the trip first reading sfx (going through the reviews), sitting with my eyes closed and ficcing a few paragraphs.

I forgot how far the nec is from the train and with stairs so it was a bit of walking. There was a 5SOS poster I noticed on the way which me squee, then I saw Professor Cox is doing a talk at the same venue in October which is wild.

Getting in was easy enough and I collected the cute pin I got with the ticket. I had early entry which was kinda a good idea cause for the first while it wasn’t too busy.

One of my first stops was mystery dice goblin, cause the only thing I was sure I’d get was some of their dice. They had a thing where you roll a d20 and if you got a Nat 20 you’d win something and I did! It was a mystery box (would’ve been £20) and had two sets of dice bags, a pretty raven/crow book park, a Dm cat pin and a journal. I also got a free d20 from a code they’d posted and it’s very pretty.

I found out the person I got foolish pins from had a stall so I found them and got a Fennekin pin(and another Pokémon one as a gift), I must’ve missed them having mareep (it was in the pics they posted but I must have missed it or someone had it) but ah well.

I did a thing at another dice store, where I got a bundle with a a student discount. So I had a mystery bag of random stuff (a lil eh), 5 gacha d20’s (including a purple one! They were all quite nice) and rolled a d20 which got me a soft resin set which looks nice, though I can’t work out what’s in them.

I also got another mystery dice set from another stall which was completely random dice but they look nice.

Over the course of the day I wandered round the stalls, mostly adorning the art cause damn. Artists really are so impressive. Like all of it was so pretty. I kinda wish I’d had more warning than a week that I was going cause I’d have been able to plan, cause there were stuff like stamp rally’s and such. (plus I could’ve maybe maybe had more money, as it was I was limited)

What I did get was some Stranger Things art (they had an offer on getting three) so I got Dustin/Steve’s hug, Dustin and Steve at the graduation (with ghost Eddie) and Robin, Eddie and Steve in Scoops outfits.

I saw the was a Pokémon card rally thing so went around and got some of them, Drifloon, Zigzagoon and Noivern (and extra ones the artists had too). I also got a Leon charm too cause it was pretty.

And there was someone doing props of things out of wood and I got a boomerang from Zelda which looks so cool and it wasn’t much either.

I saw a few of the panels. First there was a quiz, with people getting onstage answering questions. I do not have the social skills or knowledge for that. Then I saw an Expedition 33 panel and one of the guys there was a handsome Frenchman which was nice. I also saw a voice actress from FNAF and honestly, she sounds so cool. She can do stunts, collects medieval weapons and horse rides. Then there was one for Epic the musical which was fun too, even though I don’t know it much.

The two main panels I went for were the ones were Seapeekay. The first, had 5 creators onstage and was only half an hour. It felt like too short a time for so many people (the presenter even acknowledged that) but one of them was so cool. She played Elden ring using her mind! I’m not sure how she did it but it sounds impressive. And it was funny how, at the end when asked to share socials Seapeekay was like ‘it’s spelt phonetically Seapeekay, ocean urine okay’ which was so funny.

I didn’t get to see Seapeekay then (he zoomed away too fast) so I hoped to have more luck at the pokopia challenges he was gonna do and… well it was a bit of a disaster. It’s clear there wasn’t much thought as to what the challenges would be, nor was anything set up (a lead was missing). (Though ti was cute seeing Seapeekay dance) It made me think of the simpsons quote ‘it was a veritable orgasm of poor planning’. What was settled on was planning hide and seek/prop hunt for the remainder of the hour.

It was a bit of a disaster really but it was pretty funny. Funnier still cause it was an area Seapeekay hadn’t got to so he was completely lost too and couldn’t even figure out stairs. (Props to the other guy hiding as stairs perfectly)

I did manage to catch him before he left, but only briefly (I overheard him say something was left in the cloakroom at the other con that he went to yesterday😭) but I got to say hi and got a pic. I’m sure I look terrible, but at least I beat the anxiety to get it. I wish I’d had more time cause I carried the cards wound all day in case I saw him (despite being a listed creator he didn’t have, like, as set area or anything.

But by that point too I was flagging a bit anyway, tiredness caught up with me.

By the time I got to the station a train was there so I just got on it and now I’m one stop away from home.

I’ll take pics of stuff and post on insta later, then add links too.

But mostly I’m gonna flop, have some noms and something to drink, maybe finish off The Awakening special features and bundle up

Edit: Eyes too achy to watch stuff alas but! Pics! The mystery dice goblin box I won. Pics of the other stuff, including the dice from the packs

comments

So I was hoping to do two posts today but I kinda got sidetracked (but there’s still time for a second, if not it’ll be tomorrow.)

First, I managed to roll credits on Pokopia, so that’s the story quests of the game done. There’s still much to do, there’s plenty of Pokémon to find, I’ve got to reach environment level 10 in each area (and find recipes). However right now I’ve become fixated on Rocky Ridges. There’s a museum there and I’ve been trying to make it look nicer/ger better access by clearing ash but… ugh there’s so much of it. There’s multiple storage boxes filed with the stuff and it feels I’ve not made a dent. (The museum itself does look better though) however I’ve become fixated on the task so csnt really do any of the other things)

I did however, find Mew due to fixating on a puzzle before that. And ahhh so cute!

Yesterday we went to pick up something mum ordered from sainsburys (or rather mums friend ordered for her as a birthday present). That turned out to be… not the best idea. Why? Because wwe got hit by surprise hail! In the way there it was only briefly, however in the way back it came hard, feeling like pebbles hitting my face and arms which wasn’t great.

However I got some things, from tk I got two Agatha books (paperback with fancy covers): The Mysterious Affair At Styles and Murder On The Links. Also I got two books that seemed interesting, The Moonstone and The Mountain In The Sea. There was also a Stranger Things game and a puzzle (which feels a bit random). I did look for the project Hail Mary book in sainsburys but it was out of stock (same with the rabbit set people have got to make a Lego Rocky).

I had considered going to the BMTH concert thing at the cinema, but I talked myself in and out of it, mostly cause I’m not super familiar with the newer stuff. Seeing the festival show they did a few months ago was good but it didn’t matter I didn’t know newer stuff. A full set? But going out made the whole thing moot anyway.

Speaking of cinema I am a bit annoyed Ready Of Not 2 is going from 4 shows a day this first week to only 1 next week, and after 8pm. That’s so annoying. I might try and go, see it with They Will Kill You,but also Mario Galaxy is out too. Maybe I’ll see if they have spdecent showings next Saturday, cause there’s an entertainer Lego Easter egg thing. (Also speaking of Mario anyone going to the odeon next week? They’re gonna have little keyring things so I’m curious at the price)

Other cinema trips are gonna be Undertone, Exit 8 and maybe The Mummy (cause it’s out for Record Store Day).

Other planned trips are Megacon Saturday, mostly for Seapeekay (I really hope to find him, I’ll at least see his panels) and I might go to some of the other panels. I’m not expecting to get much (I’m hunting for Oroject Hail Mary or Pokopia stuff, but most likely I’ll just come back with dice). And there there’s 5 Seconds Of Summer next week yay! The first date of the tour was tonight snd, thankfully, there’s only one t-shirt thta I like the look of. Thank fuck.

Tonight I watched the next of the Doctor Who blu ray episodes, The Awakening. The Awakening is this season’s 2 parter, but it was wrote as being a full 4 part story. I think it really shows it was meant to be longer. It defintely feels it’s lost something.

There’s some good parts to it though. The Malus prop looks pretty cool and the guest cast are all pretty good, especially Jane and Will and Sir George does make a fairly good villian. And the sets area pretty good too. It just feels like it’s lacking in some areas. The central concept, of an entity using a renanctment to get the energy from it, is a pretty good one but doesn’t feel like it’s fully realised.

There’s comments about the whole village being involved in the ‘war games’ (why it’s called that repeatedly instead of a reenactment is baffling), and yet the village is deserted bar the people on horseback. Maybe if there were a few more extras as villagers that part would’ve worked better. Along with a scene or two showing the Malus effecting sir George it would be better. Also it was funny that they came to the village for Tegan to meet her grandfather and the doctor wanted them to leave before they’d even had any time together.

It was an ok ep overall. Two parters are always tricky to do but I think it really showed that this wasn’t intended as one, which made it feel so rushed. Next time is Frontios, which like The Awakeninf, I e not seen in awhile so don’t rememebr much of it. I guess we’ll see if that’s good.

Plan for the night: watch some of The Awakeninf special features, maybe work on the other post or fic, then snuggle.

Tomorrow it’s Father Brown, Beyond Paradise and Death In Paradise, along with Megacon prepping (mostly gathering stuff together.i might take the new sfx magazine cause it came yesterday too

comments

The last few days my focus has again been off, mostly because of the damn sawing/drilling outside starting up again. (When will it end?) along with post gig tiredness,

Last night I did end up watching Ready Or Not cause of the sequel being out. What amused me though was I got the blu ray cause it wasn’t available anywhere (and discounted) but then last night I found it was both on tv (on film 4) as well as on Disney+. Ah well.

I did enjoy it though, it was mostly a fun time with incompetent rich people getting outsmarted and dying. I. Hopefully I can see the new one soon, though I’m not sure when (causa Megacon then 5sos). I did consider seeing it today as my usual two film thing but decided not to.

Today I went to see Project Hail Mary. I was gonna go in the morning to avoid more sawing, but I woke later than expected (15 minutes before I’d have had to leave) and just didn’t feel up to going right away. I was thinking of just going another morning, but did decide to see it on the second showing (part to get out cause I got riled up by mum being bitchy).

Trailers were mostly films I’d already decided I’m seeing: The Odyssey, The Mandalorian And Grogu, Super Mario Galaxy, plus a Supergirl one which I’d not seen. There was also a Hunger Games trailer and, bar going ‘is that him from the Long Walk?’ I’m eh about it. I’ve not seen the films and I dunno how they’ve gone on so long. But then again maybe if I saw them I’d see why? I dunno.

Anyway!

Before I go into thoughts, beware these will be slightly spoilery, especially since this is a new film (but I’m trying to keep it just with stuff seen in trailers). But! BeforeI get to thoughts I’ll simply say this: if you’re thinking of going to see this, go see it. I know it’s long (over 2 and a half hours) but it is so worth it.

Honestly it’s one of those films that’ll be the top ones of the year (joining Iron Lung, Cold Storage and Kangaroo).

But onto thoughts, which are under this.

Gonna snug now, then tomorrow it’s the seapeekay randomathon tomorrow. I might do a music post but we’ll see if my brain can fic some too.

comments

So it’s time for the inevitable gig post about Waterparks.

First the tip there. I downloaded some books on the kindle app to read on the train but when I got on I found I utterly lacked the focus. Maybe in part due to early start or the drilling/sawing this morning but it wasn’t there. Then I got hit by random sadness which didn’t help either, coupled with anxiety which only grew.

In Birmingham I set out for food, checking a few places before deciding to give the new sushidog place a try. It’s basically subway only instead of a roll it’s a big sushi (roughly as long as my pad). I went for the tofu option and it was mostly good though there was something crunchy in it (Ithink crispy onions) that detracted from the taste. I dunno if I’ll have it again, we’ll see. But I was surprised there’s a reward app for it.

After a lil wander I went to the venue, anxiety rising and joined the queue. Thankfully there wasn’t long to wait but I didn’t feel like trying to distract by reading.

Inside I looked at merch, which was the same as the eu dates so there wasn’t much choice, I got the rainbow parx tee cause I had liked the look of it and will probably wear it for 5 Seconds Of Summer in two weeks.

There was only one support, Greywind and they were pretty good, I’d not heard them before and not sure I will again, but it’s nice to see a female fronted band.

After a little wait (and figuring out the wi-fi), it was time for Waterparks. (And I got a semi decent spot, albeit sometimes getting the view of Geoff and Awsten’s heads cut off when they came my side of the stage)

The show was split into four sections, each introduced by a guy on a screen (who I didn’t recognise) (and yes there was a screen, I’d not seen one at this venue before so thay was strange). The sections were happiness, sadness, anticipation (the new songs) and anger (Awsten’s favourite part according to the guy).

Happiness was fun cause it had a lot of spinning from Geoff which was cute. I love his lil spins so many. Sadness had a lil acoustic section, which included Crave, though most songs were shorter and not full ones, anticipation included the three new songs plus Prowler which seemed to go fast and was growly.

There were two song choices
Peach or Telephone (Peach won, so I got to hear him sing la la la lombotomy)
Gloom Boyd’s or Not Warriors (damnit I’d have loved to hear Not Warriors but alas it was Gloom Boys which was still fun)
There was gonna be a third, 21 questions or Lucky People, but Awsten went with Lucky People cause someone at the met and greet walked down the aisle to it which was sweet.
(I also half expected Anger to have Ice but it didn’t)

Memorable things that I can remember
*Awsten hyping up Geoff and Otto multiple times, especially Otto
*Awsten lasted three songs before clinging onto Geoff’s leg
*He told a story about something that ‘freaked him out’ a seagull eating a dead rat with a bloody beak, he took this as an omen, but couldn’t decide if it was good or bad (until he decided it meant a certain someone was going to die soon and we’d feast one him)
*Awsten remembered that Fandom live was filmed there (i need it so bad damnit), he remembered the venue cause of the gold stuff on the balconies specifically cause the venue name had changed
*He was repeatedly apologetic for the last tour being three years ago, saying there would be a new one soon as soon as the album comes out (which is ‘soon’
*he also repeatedly thanked us for showing up and he was glad to do a tour without just playing a new album

They always know how to but on a great show and Awsten is a natural talent. He’s just so funny and a yapper so it makes it feel… I dunno, it’s nice. It’s fun. Plus it was a great line up of songs (alas no Fruit Roll Ups) which were from all of the bands eras. And I liked the concept of making the sections themed around an emotion that was a nice idea.

(I was a bit sad to see Thrice are playing at the same venue tomorrow, but then they’re probably playing the newer stuff I’ve not heard)

After the show I raced to the station but missed a train by a few minutes (thankfully not the last one). So I grabbed a drink and some sushi and waited for it. On the train back I did read the intro chapter of one of the books, Strange Pictures, but that’s it.

Gonna rest up now and might make another post in a few days. It might be the music stuff I love post, since I wanna post music stuff anyway so may as well do it for that, or maybe I’ll work on fic, who knows. Mainly I’ll likely be sidetracked by pokopia,

comments

It’s post time! Mainly cause I have a gig later (Waterparks) and wanna get thoughts for some things out before I forget them.

Sunday ended up being a tiring day. I didn’t get a good sleep so was a bit grouchy the whole day.

I did manage to distract myself with Pokopia which is going pretty well. I’ve still not opened any more areas but I have got the third Pokémon Center built (at Rocky Ridges) and I have stumbled on a museum though getting there currently is a pain (I hope a shortcut gets unlocked at some point). But it is cool cause you can get some of the fossil Pokémon there when you display their fossils

In the night I did finally rewatch Clown In A Cornfield, which was a bit more stop/start than I’d hoped the watch to be but it is what it is. I still love it, though it is a little different after reading the book. The opening is still a good horror movie opening but at the same time an odd choice but I couldn’t see them doing the book’s opening. I still love Cole and Rust, and Quinn of course. I hope we get to see them again and I’m surprised an adaption of the second book hasn’t been announced (I still need it) and ahh Cole/Rust💜

(But damn the uk release has not a single special feature which sucksss)

Yesterday also proved tiring cause mums friend came so I had to go to town, which was a bust, (still no Stranger Things stickers, I missed out on using the book tokens I had cause I forgot them Saturday, there wasn’t anything interesting around in general) but I did get some food stuff to try.

I did also start ficcing something new on the bus ride. I have had so many ideas lately but resisted starting them cause a: I don’t need more WIPs and 2: I wanted to actually finish the dom Eddie week thing I’d started (and got sidetracked on with assessment and sickness). But the pull of Maxx in his wild wrestling fit is so strong (I say though he’s not appeared in it yet it’s just set up)

When I came back the mystery package was here and… I have no idea what it was. We opened it up and there was this metal thing and inside was a bracelet thing (I didn’t see it mum did). And we’re so baffled cause it’s not something any of us ordered and it feels like a cursed item. It feels like it’s been sent by mistake but I’m not sure what to do cause I’m not sure who sent it.

In other news I watched Seapeekay’s stream when I got back and ahhh he saw the parx boys last night! I hope he posts pics later and I hope he goes to the tours, I just know it’ll spark something. (I say the last pic didn’t but my focus has been off for months)

In the night another delivery came. First was Honey Don’t which I’d seen was in a spring sale so decided to pick it up. It’s the next in my fav films I saw last year that I’ve picked up (I wanna get physical releases of them all, the Black Phone 2 is my next goal and Frankenstein when it comes out, Fantastic Four is lower priority cause of it being on Disney+ and I’m not sure about getting The Long Walk anytime soon).

The main thing was the new Doctor Who boxset, season 21. I had hoped to fit the first ep in yesterday and since it came just before 7 I did, so.

So first was Warriors Of The Deep. The boxset has a new ‘special edition’ which mostly is to change the Myrka so now it looks great and actually threatening and not just what it was (which was essentially a pantomime horse and an obvious one too). I know there’s meant to be other changes too, but the Myrka is the most prominent and it’s done well.

As to the story itself…

The concept of an undersea base being attacked by sea devils/silurians is a really great one and it’s nice to have an ep where they’re not just awakened by humans. But so much of it is a bit of a mess, like the sets are pretty good, but the lighting is far too bright and uniform. And I do think the uniforms are really good. But the place being an undersea military base is just… an odd choice (would missiles even be able to launch from under the sea?). It also doesn’t help that the human groups are so vague (referred to as Eastern and Western blocs but with zero other contexts) which makes the whole thing feel vague. And that made the spy subplot fall a bit flat.

The Silurians look pretty good (if static) and armoured sea devils are a good concept (even though the execution is lacking). The Myrka too is a good concept and I’m glad the special edition makes that work better. The tardis crew are all pretty good in this, though it’s baffling the Doctor lands in a military base and is all ‘let’s go talk to the people’ instead of just laying low because that’s obviously a bad idea.

Of course there were behind the scenes issues which translated into the show. A rushed production caused some of the more egregious issues (not allowing alternate lighting to be set up, the Myrka being like that). It’s a shame cause with a few tweaks and more time it could have been a better story, but alas.

So yeah it’s not the best episode. I don’t think it’s quite as bad as people think but maybe that’s cause of the new edition. Next is The Awakening which might be before Monday, we’ll see.

The morning the foodshop came super earlier. I thought it was between 8-10, but actually it was between 6:17-7:17 (why 17 I dunno) so that really sucked. But better to come early than the usual time which I just know would’ve been late and close to when I’m going. Then there was more sawing/drilling ruining my focus.

But gah MCR fix came back this morning too which tends to come every now and then. Not enough to engage with ep anything, but enough to look through tumblrs and bemoan the lack of Toro love. Let Ray be kinky and freaky damnit.

Anyway! Gonna rest, do pokopia, maybe fic and go to Waterparks!

comments

Past few day have mostly been low energy days, mostly spent playing Pokopia (I’m working through the third area now and this game is just so big already it’s crazy). So far in the game I’ve learned electricity, moving water, more transform abilities and, most recently, cooking to boost abilities. There’s still move areas to unlock (I dunno how many, at least two?) but I dunno when I’ll be able to access them.

(I need to get back to requiem sometime)

Other than that I managed to fic a bit (on one day, randomly) which is at least something. I hoped to do more to it but I got sidetracked and unfocussed.

Seapeekay has announced he’s gonna be at a con in Birmingham this month which… ugh. This and next month are the worst timing for something like that (this month causa gigs) but I do wanna try and go. The schedule got announced Friday and he has two panel things one say so I’m gonna try and hit that, but we’ll see.

Yesterday I decided I was able to go and see a film so it’s film thoughts time. I pretty much only went to the cinema in town. The shopping street is partly closed off now cause refurbishment to the Center has finally started after signs being up for months. Who knows how long it’ll take or if it will be worth it. I did pick a plushie up from Asda cause it was discounted but that was it.

I went to see Hoppers and How To Make A Killing.

Trailers
Seen before are Super Mario Galaxy, California Scheming and Arco.

Minions And Monsters: this honestly looks really fun! The minions summon Cthulhu, I’m not kidding that’s a scene in the trailer and that alone has sold it on me.
Toy Story 5: short thing, dunno if I’m sold on the concept though.
Magic Faraway Tree: A new trailer, seemingly dealing with later parts of the story. I’m kinda curious about it, might see if there’s something else. (I feel there’s a lot I wanna watch these next weeks) It feels like a fun watch
Devil Wears Prada 2: I watched the first film on tv forever ago and rememebr it being ok, I don’t think I’ll see it as the trailer hasn’t sold it. Might be a ‘see if on tv’ film.
Michela: Micheal Jackson biopic, feels like it’ll be well done but I’m indifferent to biopic sin general so…eh
The Drama: seems like the story of a couple only the guy finds out something about the girl and it derails the whole thing. Again kinda indifferent about this. It feels it hinges on what the ‘thing’ is, the trailer shows reactions to it but not what it actually is. Is that wise? Who knows
Project Hail Mary: new trailer, again looks like later parts of the film and ahh the lil alien guy! I do really wanna see this.

Anyway onto the films. I could have watched them either way around (they had similar showing times with equal gaps between them), but I went with Hoppers first.

Next cinema trip might be Project Hail Mary (maybe with Ready Or Not) or if I decide to go to the Bring Me The Horizon gig they’re showing. Either way I’ll know when the listings go live.

When I got back I found out I’d missed a package but I’ve got nothing coming. All that’s due soon is the Doctor Who season 21 boxset but that’s not even marked as sent yet.

Night time was low energy. But yay qsmp started again. I didn’t see much cause I got timings wrong, but what I saw (and clips on my for you) was it’s already very gay. Which we low, we love all the yaoi both returning and new.

In the night I wasn’t gonna watch anything but ended up watching Bodycam on shudder.

Now I’m gonna bundle up, watch the Paralympics closing and maybe watching Clown In A Cornfield or fic

Then tomorrow… ugh mums annoying friend is coming which ugh. I might try and see if I can use the book tokens mum got from the library cause I forgot them yesterday but today is the last day so it might be useless.

comments

So I had been hoping to do more things this past week. I’d hoped to do posts, to fic, to watch stuff (I was planning on watching Clown In A Cornfield again finally) but everything went wrong.

I had been low energy at the start of the week and that got worse, not helped by the loud noises from the drilling outside, which got steadily worse until Friday morning when I was so bad I had a terrible headache even after it ended.

Then. My stomach felt a bit funny. I think it started Thursday but it got worse over Friday, but I put it down to the headache.

Then Saturday morning hit and I was consumed by a fever. I spent the entire day in bed, in a dizzy haze with no voice or anything. It meant I couldn’t do anything of what I planned, nor could I do dnd on Sunday. (Even though it had eased up some I was still incredibly hazy and out of it at times).

TodayI finally felt better voice wise, so of course mum decides to be bitchy. I dunno why she yelled at me because she didn’t get things, or because she didn’t try something on that she saw when we got her meds (which she didn’t even tell me at the time) but ugh. It just irked me even more.

Then I had my stupid call which ugh. It’s still not with the usual guy and was half an hour later, both which would have annoyed me and made me chase up on if I wasn’t feeling rough still. (I had no desire to waste my voice on that). But ugh.

(Plus side though being sick has meant mums friend didn’t come today but she will be next week which ughhhhh)

***

Oh the plus side Pokopia was released a few days ago yay! If got it on digital which feels a good decision cause I feel this is gonna be a big time sink. But ahh it’s so cute! I was sold on it cause it looked like animal crossing meets Pokémon but it’s so much more than that. Though it is very similar. The world is just so… big. I got to the second area today (if I’d not been sick I’d have done it sooner) and it’s a whole other huge area.

But ahh I’ve seen some of my favs already, there’s scyther, goomy and Bulbasaur, plus so many others (I even found a suicune!) and ahh it’s just so cute, I love all the Pokémon and all the things you can find. I’ll post more thoughts sometime.

And I also popped into a charity shop and got a dvds of contact and day of the triffids.

comments

So I’m back home after today’s trip.

I ended up leaving at 9:30 which felt early enough since most stores in Birmingham didn’t open up until 11. The train was really busy which surprised me. It was standing room only by the second stop which was crazy. (I just read some of the Doctor Who chronicles I had).

In Birmingham I went to the Forbidden Planet by the station. Mum hoped they’d have the Hei Hei bag she’s been wanting (so I could get pics for her) but alas no. They did have some Star Wars graphic novels on offer and I got 3 - Star Wars Quests Of The Force, Bounty Hunters - Bedlam On Bestine and Obi-Wan - A Jedi’s Pirpose. They all sound pretty good (even though I’ve not read any of the other bounty hunters or recent Star Wars issues) and quite a bargain for under £10 (they’re usually more than that each).

Then I went to the entertainer which was my main stop and I built the little bantha there! He’s so cute but you’ll see him later. I also got to see one smart play set in action, more on that later.

I went in hmv just to look around. I completely forgot if there was anything to look for. I also went in m and s and got mroe red velvet hot cross buns (oop).

I went in the Lego store to check out the new sets and they had smart play stuff (again more on that later). They also had the Pokémon sets on display. My fav is still the Eevee, the big set is impressive but over £500 is crazy.

I had a quick wander around, though Primark, Smiths and cex were a bust. (Again where are the Stranger Things stickers?) from the other Forbidden Planet I got some comics, 2 exquisite Corpses issues (Ineed to read the ones I got when I went to the hospital oop), the new Smile comic and two black series sets: master Vernestra from The Acolyte and Dagan Gera and a cool BX droid from Jedi Survivor (just look at them!). (Which I need to go back on sometime I got distracted from it. I’ve not even seen him yet in game but he’s hot and his fit is cool.

Tk I got another Christie book but almost didn’t cause it’s Seven Dials, one of the ones I’ve read but the cover is cool.

I did go back to Lego before getting the train and it’s here I’m gonna say my thoughts on the smart brick.

I mostly saw interaction with two things, the X-Wing and Vader’s TIE. I did like the enguine sounds they made and the blaster fire when you pressed the button/switch (respectively) and the R2 noise was cool. The downside is, of course, the ‘voices’ for Luke which sounded terrible and robotic. I alway wish we’d got to hear other things, Lego had the throne room duel and the turret from the fighters, but didn’t show how the brick sounded when interacting them. I guess we’ll see when reviewers do it. (I still say the cantina set looks pretty nice.)

So it does seem the brick is much better for effects then anything else. But it is an expensive gimmick and the buttons/switches/tiles are all quite garish in bright red. The main issue is the price. The smart brick x-wing has a lot of stuff to it, but it’s still £20 more than the new republic x-wing from the mandalorian and Grogu which looks cooler and more complete. So yeah I’m waiting on reviews to have the full other sounds, but I’m not gonna get smart play stuff unless there’s a discount.

I was all peopled out so decided to come home instead of seeing Hoppers (it was also cause of the train and showing times being pretty bad). It’s no bother really I know they’ll be plenty of time to see it. So I just read some Heated Rivalry, then nommed sushi when I got home and watched traitors ireland.

Tonight I’m gonna watch the pottery throw down, mock the week and then… I dunno. I guess it depends on mood and tiredness. (Maybe fic or something)

But I end on this!

comments

So it’s already the last day of February what the fuck? Where has the time gone?

I’ve still neither done, nor read the stuff I love posts (oops) I had thought to yesterday but time kinda got away for me. However I bring it up cause the one I did do (about standalone films) made me wanna watch some of them.

The first, which I disc switch to a few days back (I can’t recall when exactly) was Dungeons And Dragons Honour Among Thieves, which I watched not long after the last post.

And yes, I can confirm it’s still a top tier movie. It’s just so fun and funny and it looks incredible (so much of the effects are practical) and Xenk is so handsome. Again it has made me sad there’s not a follow up or anything, but then again it works so well on its own (though I would love to see Xenk some more,

i also found out that the music is done by the same guy that did the music for The War Between The Land And The Sea (and Wallace And Gromit Vengeance Most Fowl!)

(Other films I wanna rewatch soon are Event Horizon, Clown In The Cornfield, Wildhood and Spree)

I woke early Friday which was annoying (especially as the loud noises started soon after) but I was glad to hear the news that the Greens won the by election! Labour had acted like it was a two horse race between them and reform and yet both were beaten (and sizeably too!) of course it looks like labour leadership aren’t going to learn anything from this defeat (they’re already sending out more smears and comminting to continuing being awful) but I do feel hope again anyway.

Friday was also Pokémon day which is the 30th anniversary of Pokémon (which makes me feel ancient). I did fish out a Pokémon tee to wear (with ghost Pokémon) and I finally watched an episode of Pokémon concierge which is really cute so far! I love the art style to it and I hope to watch more soon.

There was a new Poke on Presents, which if anyone hasn’t seen it tends to be a mix of stuff we know, coming events, stuff for the mobile games and then the genuinely good stuff at the end. One cute thing was a Pokémon music player which is shaped like a lil game boy! The downside? The music is on cartridges (like game boy games) and there’s… 47 of them. What??

Of the new announcements Gale Of Darkness is being added to the GameCube player, which is great cause I never played it and always wanted to (it was rare and so prices went insane). There was also more info on Pokopia, with a dj rotom that plays music, a reveal of electricity to power things and a few more Pokémon shown. The fact that it has electricity makes me really curious what sort of contraptions could be made. So much of what was shown was early game I’d not even considered ti a possibility.

Lastly! The new Pokémon games are called Winds And Waves and it looks gorgeous! It’s so beautiful and really shows off the power of the switch 2. It did show off the new starters which look cute! I’m torn between the Fire and Water ones. It’s not coming out till next year which is a long way off but I’m sure it’ll be worth it.

In the night Resident Evil Requiem came, though I didn’t go on it until after The Last Leg (so 11). I only did the first section with Grace but damn. It really looks so incredible on the switch 2. I played for about an hour, doing her opening section and the first cut scene of Leon’s (ahhh he looks so hot!) I do have minor thoughts (under the cut just in case but it super spoilery?)

Ihave decided I’m gonna try and go tomorrow to Birmingham. I’m thinking of just wandering around (including checking TK for more Agatha books though I doubt it), look at the Lego Pokémon in the Lego store and pop in a few other places.i have considered doing a Birmingham trip before, stopping off at the cinema on the way back, so this might be it.

Alas there’s not much showing at the cinema. Most of the screenings are for Wuthering Heights (I’m not fussed about but I’ve heard bad things), Scream (I wasn’t going to see but I’ve heard equally bad things), an Elvis concert thing (eh)and Hoppers (for a preview weekend. Hoppers is the one I’ll probably see but it depends how I feel and if things line up. (goat is an alternate possibility but there’s fewer showings). Part of me does wanna go for a rewatch of Cold Storage but I doubt I will, at least this time.

If I don’t see hoppers, well it’ll be on for weeks anyway (I might see it with The Bride in a few weeks.

Now I’m gonna have noms, try and do fall guys event thing and then… maybe fic, maybe watch Heated Rivalry. (I’m not sure I’ll go on Requiem but we’ll see)

comments

This is gonna be one of those posts of two halves.

The bad.

Tuesday was the day to submit the uni anssesment and just.. ugh. First my focus has been blah at the best of times (especially cause of blankness last week but also? The questions were a bit bleh. (One needed to use software, which cut out part of the info inexplicably, another was about something I’m so opposed to on principle I couldn’t see it any other way (deep sea mining). I just ended up setting myself a time and saying fuck it when I reached it (cause I knew asking for an extension really wouldn’t help)

Off course that’s messed up with my mindset an energy, I’ve felt so exhausted. And going out yesterday added to that tiredness. (More on that later

And also it hasn’t helped there’s been loud machinery noises outside. The council is doing ‘something’ to the square outside but they haven’t bothered telling anyone what the plans actually are. It’s been going on for a few weeks now and there’s not much difference but there has been drilling and other loud noises which haven’t helped my head. (Increasing headaches)

All that just triggered my mood to return to being low again which… blah. I had been hoping to distract myself more but… yeah focus has been there.

**

The good.

Tuesday was a stint at the library so at least that was a break from the noise. I did some reading, one chapter of Heated Rivalry, finally reading the Stranger Things Dungeons And Dragons graphic novel (I loved it shown Dustin joining the guys) and started Hawkins Horrors, which is pretty good so far too.

Yesterday was a trip to pick up mums meds, which thankfully was a nice day. I wasn’t going with wnything in mind (bar looking for magazines) but we got stuff. So here’s what I ended up getting.

TK Maxx: A Classic Science Fiction collection book, with a bunch of short stories in it, a Star Wars doorables (it had Grogu), a comic relief Winnie the Pooh tote bag, a ball with a buildable flower (I think it’s lavender?). The main find though was two hardback Agatha Christie books, with the fancy covers- Curtain and Persil At End House. It was funny cause before I spotted them I had thought it would be nice to see some of her stuff and bam!
Argos: Star Wars Doorables Episode I set (which was cool)
Sainsburys: Magazines - Lego Star Wars, 2 Lego Minecraft (regular and ultimate), the doctor Who chronicles 1984 (which I didn’t expect to see but needed), the new Fantastic 4 comic, a Pokémon annnual, and a lil Lego hamster
Also: Ponyta Funko, Pokémon book

I also saw some cute lil Guinea pigs at pets at home which were so adorable.plus we went in M and S and saw they had Red Velvet hot cross buns so we got them to try. I thought they were nice but expensive, but the filling is kinda.. sus )(I’ll be real it looks like cum, especially when it oozes out)

I had been considering getting Resident Evil Requiem for the switch 2 but I was talking myself out of it (I was gonna get it as a download but the price) and then I saw Amazon had it was £10 off so…oop. Hopefully I can do some of it and not lose focus.

Tomorrow is Pokémon day so I’m hoping something cool is shown off during the Pokémon presents. Again I think it’s odd leaf green/fire red were already announced (I’m resisting getting them cause of resident evil and Pokopia coming) so it makes me curious what it’ll be since it’s a long one.

I had an email today saying the entertainer is doing a make and take Lego Bantha on Saturday so I considered going to the cinema for it… but the same email said that Sunday has it too with some stores doing a smart play demonstration. That’s not go na be in town with the cinema (annoyingly) but one of the places is Birmingham so… I dunno. I’m debating if going then might be better to see it in action for myself (but of course Birmingham is busier plus Sunday so I dunno)

For those that don’t know smart play is the new Lego thing with a special brick that makes sounds when interacting with things. What I’ve seen of it sounds… terrible and the sets for it are expensive (plus some look plain awful) so I don’t think a demonstration will convince me otherwise. But at least seeing it in front of me will prove I’m right to think that. (Or maybe prove they’re not as bad).

But I dunno we’ll see how my mood is and what the weathers like. I might just say fuck it and just sgo Saturday, see a film and then come back and flop.

(I do also wanna do the febuary stuff I love posts which I’ve failed on, I’ve not even looked at others poses either😭)

comments

Update post time.

Tuesday night was the last good ship murder which ended up being… depressing.

Wednesday we went down to Home Bargains to get some stuff that didn’t come with the food shop. I went in Game beforehand and got a Xenk figure, which was finally discounted! (And some Pokémon cards) it’s funny I find him after I switched in the Dungeons Of Dragons blu ray (but haven’t watched yet). In Home Bargains, ironically, was something I’d hoped to get from Game, some lil buildable ghost Pokémon which are very cute.

Thursday was an odd day. The replacement xbox memory card came and it works! I was worried that it was the slot that was the issue so I’m glad it wasn’t. (So now it’s just a matter of reinstalling things.) I built a Lego set I got I’d got with the creel house (a flying moon car which is pretty cool!) and watched two more traitors Ireland eps (it’s so chaotic).

Then I just went… blank. I couldn’t settle on doing anything. For about three hours I just switched between things and sat there, not wanting to do or watch anything, I went… blank. It’s been a long time since I’ve been like that and it was really annoying.

Eventually I did settle on watching a thing, an episode of Found Footage the series (pretty good for a short thing) but then just went to bed.

This morning I was still feeling a bit bleh so didn’t even wanna try focussing on uni stuff. It did fade after a few hours lying in bed.

After noms I went out to town, glad that it wasn’t raining.

I did some wandering around before the cinema. I managed to get a Pokémon boxset and Weapons blu ray from Asda, plus they had the Lego Christmas thing I’d seen in game and missed out on. Then I went in primark and got Dustin’s hellfire tee, along with a reduced Squawk sweater. And smiths had the Game Changers book so I grabbed that too. (I also got a drink from there and it was awful)

(And speaking of Pokémon, Fire Red and Leaf Green are coming to switch next week though I’m baffled that they announced it now and not during the Pokémon presents thing then)

Then I went to the cinema to see Cold Storage and Send Help.

Trailers first as always.

Obsession: Same Trailer as before
They Will Kill You: First time seeing this trailer and I’m very sold on it! It’s about a woman starting a job in a building, only it turns out it’s a pretence and the building is a trap to sacrifice her (only she can kick ass)
Ready Or Not 2: First time seeing this too. I’ve not seen the first one, though it was mentioned on horror’s greatest but this made me wanna watch it. This looks fun and Elijah Wood and Sarah Michelle Gellar!
How To Make A Killing: This one looks fun too, I’d seen something about it when I was having waffle fries and after seeing the trailer I do wanna see it
The Bride: a new trailer (I think, it feels different than the last one) and it does look pretty good.
Scream: more a spot than a proper trailer. I’m of two minds about it.
Passenger: not heard of this and I am intrigued, it gave me a similar energy to a fake documentary q ep.

So ye a lot of films I’m now more curious about/wanna try and see.

Thoughts on films ahoy.

Since today was the pass renewal date (and I didn’t do this for the last one) he’s the last two months of the cinema pass.

Month 6: December 20th - January 20th
13: Anaconda
17: The Boy And The Heron, Labyrinth

This was a quiet month, the quietest so far. Mostly that’s cause of the holidays but also cause of the weather and ice. But that does make the order of favs feel easy: Labyrinth, Anaconda, The Boy And The Heron.

Month 7: January 20th - February 20th
23: Return To Silent Hill
30: Another World (+ q and a), Iron Lung
14: Looney Tunes The Day The Earth Blew Up, Kangaroo

This month was more like normal. I can’t really separate my favs, which are Iron Lung and Kangaroo which couldn’t be more different. Then I’d say it’s Another Workd, Return To Silent Hill and then Looney Tunes.

***

This weekend is gonna be mostly resting, maybe watching Dungeons And Dragons (or The Beauty, or Heated Rivalry) and the Winter Olympics closing ceremony. (And maybe finally do the next Feb stuff I love post cause I’ve been so tuned out lately but we’ll see.)

Hopefully too I’ll start the Voyager game and fic but…

comments

So my intent was to have this next post be the next stuff I love post, albeit belated (I’d even made a start!) but my energy has just gone so… bleh again out of nowhere.

(Is it cause of the weather being bad? The loud noises from outside? Uni being an assessment week? I dunno, but mood and energy is back to being bleh. Not helped by my tummy feeling bleh after eating either)

I also tried chasing up the eye appointment I’m meant to have but… I’m still none the wiser. All I was told was the list was longer than the doctor thought which… not a surprise.

Short list of things I distracted my brain with
*ESO - did the hearts day event stuff and got some nice rewards, plus a hug from a giant hot tiger man
*[Redacted] - Listened to Hound, which is call mostly cause it has two Magnus Protocol voice actors in
*The Beauty - Had on the second ep and I can’t feel like the bad guys were incredibly stupid (like why’re you targeting the agents now when they don’t know anything??). Also Evan Peters character spoke another language and recognised an Egyptian hieroglyph like ??
*I decided to get Voyager Into The Unknown so that’s on my switch ready for tomorrow (who knows when I’ll play it though)
*Strange New Worlds - Watched The Serene Squall and I love Captain Angel, I hope they come back (and I’m surprised they apparently haven’t yet??)
*read a few more chapters of Heated Rivalry, I really need to get back to watching it
*got the new doctor Who humble bundle of audios, even though I have some from prior ones. It’s worth it though cause there’s a few boxsets and they’re usually £20-30 each (it’s £13.41 now and it’s here) I do wish they included a thing to add them to the big finish app but

The Long Walk’s actors won an ensemble award which is pretty cool. Plus it’s nice to see Josha and agarrett together (and Jordan). But damn are Joshua and Garrett really tall or the others short? Either way they look good in suits.

Plus!

There’s a new Mandalorian And Grogu trailer and damn! It looks so cool. I’m glad it gives us some idea of what the story is gonna be, plus Colonel Ward! Embo! Zeb! Dejarik creatures! It looks so cool. (Though it did make me sad to hear Ward talking about preventing a war cause we all know it… fails)

Also the cinema listings went live last night.

The plus side? Send Help is showing for an extra week so I should be able to see it when I see Cold Storage on Friday.

The downside? It seems Whistle is like Shelby Oaks and is only getting one week of showings which sucks. Hopefully it’ll come to streaming somewhere so I can watch. (I had considered doing a late night cinema trip to see both but wanted to avoid it if possible, both cause of uni stuff and cause of going Friday anyway).

After that I dunno when my cinema trip will be. I kinda like the look of Goat, and Crime 101, cause of Chris Hemsworth in an ad I saw, but I dunno if it’s enough to make the trip. So it might not be till I see Hoppers or Project Hail Mary. But we’ll see.

Nownow though I’m gonna bundle, watch stuff, poke my brain and marvel snap for the event.

comments

So yesterday I had intended to go to town to see Whistle and Send Help, but that didn’t end up happening cause I woke up in the morning and it was raining, and raining hard. Another storm hit and stayed around all day so that wasn’t happening.

I think cause of the weather (and it messing up my plans) I was low energy all day. I didn’t do much, though I did watch Seapeekay’s stream, cuddle Midna and watch the Winter Olympics (or rather half watch).

That did mean though I watched team go get our first medal! We got a gold in the skeleton bob! The thought of it is so terrifying down a track (?) on what’s essentially a tray fast first. I can’t imagine doing it myself but it was awesome to see how fast they went (and yay our guy getting the gold!)

It’s tour fair this weekend and there was Mandalorian And Grogu merch reveals which look cool. We finally have a name for Sigourney Weaver’s character (Colonel Ward) and it looks like she gets to fly an x-wing! Also there’s cute lil guys and a hot new unnamed droid.

Last night, after going on Dead By Daylight, I watched the first ep of The Beauty which seems pretty good so far. The hottest thing Evan Peters has done so far is speak French fluently. Plus I’d no idea till the credits that it’s based on a comic which is pretty cool.

Today the weather was much better. I had considered going to the cinema today I’d the weather had been bad yesterday but when I woke I wasn’t feeling it too much. Until mum (whips I must’ve mentioned it too) called me up and I felt that I should.

So I went. I didn’t do much in town, I posted off my package, checked in smiths for stickers (alas none) and found the record store that’s getting record store day (alas I didn’t have chance for a proper look, maybe next time). They are getting Sleep Token’s one though yay!

So it’s half term here which I guess is why there’s only showings of horror films in late afternoons/nights this week. So despite wanting to see Whistle and Send Help yesterday I was unable to see either today (if it wasn’t for MCC I might have but…) so instead I saw Looney Tunes and Kangaroo, which have the complete and total opposite vibes to what I’d hoped to see yesterday

(I am considering doing a night trip to see them both, but I’m hoping they’ll be showing on Friday so I can see one with Cold Storage.)

Trailers, just gonna do nee to me cause some (The Magic Faraway Tree, Hoppers, are ones I’d seen before)
Arco - looks pretty and I’m kinda curious about it
The Land Of Sometimes - Looks like a fun little thing and the titular land looks pretty

Thoughts on both ahoy.

On the return train back I read the Ghostwatch article in sfx. Apparently there’s a new blu ray version coming which is what the article is about (it ends saying it’s getting a release soon in Australia which seems odd). One thing that’s cool is they’ve got ceefax subtitles that they retrieved from recorded tapes. I had no idea that tapes had that stuff in recordings!

I got some cheap stuff from the co-op, then the Lego Star Wars magazine from somewhere else, before coming home and now I’m flop watching The Masked Singer/MCC. I might watch something tonight but who knows what.

I still need to do the week 2 of the stuff I love too oop. I might have done it yesterday if I wasn’t so drained.

comments

Time for a lil post before the (hopeful) trip tomorrow.

So in a recent post I mentioned I was gonna try the demo of the new Star Trek Voyager game. The demo covered the first ‘mission’ of the game. It covers the basic events of Caretaker and gameplay is split into 4 parts.

1: Flying Voyager around star systems, scan planets/asteroids/ships, travelling to them and doing little missions to get materials (so far there’s things for power, building and science)
2: Ship management, which is all about building and managing various rooms in the ship. So you’re building crew quarters, workshops stuff like that (or unlocking them)
3: Missions on planets, where you sent away teams down and use their skills in events. (Ie Tuvok security skills, Torres’ resourcefulness)
4: Combat, which only was done briefly.

So far it’s pretty good! The graphics of the ship (and Deep Space Nine at the start) look great and some koh the art looks nice. The character models aren’t the best, but I didn’t expect them to be. The demo has definitely made me consider picking it up more, cause I did like what I played. It makes me curious if it’ll be following along the series or if it’ll have its own things too. Cause obviously it had to start with Caretaker but who knows if it’ll go off in other tangents, I might have to read up some more on it. It has 10% off as a launch discount so I am tempted.

Anyway!

I also finally built the Lego set I picked up when I saw Anaconda. It was Boba Fett’s Throne Room, which is meant to be from The Book Of Boba Fett (but is more from the post credits of a Mandalorian ep). Honestly I picked it up cause it was discounted (and is now discontinued so I never expected to see it) plus it had Feenec Shand and I didn’t have a figure of her. (Plus I love the Jabba’s Palace location and haven’t had a set since the original which wasn’t great.

The set is three parts, a lil alcove with seating, an entranceway (with the doorkeeper eyestalk) and the central area with the throne. It all looks pretty nice and the figure selection is really good, since it has a selection of aliens which is nice. The features ar mostly good, though it’s baffling the tower above the entrance doesn’t have a floor (it has a hole instead) and the door doesn’t have a mechanism to hold it up. I am glad I picked it up. It’s next to the Creel house now.

I also finally finished Halloween Party yay! It’s funny to me that before the story starts there’s a foreword by someone who worked on A Haunting In Venice, mentioning that the ‘adaption’ isn’t actually one. It’s an odd thing to include but yeah. Bar character names they don’t feel the same story at all. (I still love A Haunting In Venice it’s well done and creepy but it’s very much its own thing).

Overall I thought it was pretty good. It’s not my fav of the ones I’ve read (but does look the best) and I do love that it has Ariadne Oliver, she’s always fun when she appears. I’m not sure I have much in the way of actual thoughts on it. (Though I did note the use of the word lesbian, comments on technology making mistakes and Poirot thinking on a man being beautiful.)

I had intended on switching to Hawkins Horrors, which I picked up when ordering something for mum but didn’t start at the time but….

Today mums friend came so predictably I had to go to town. I could have paid the money in tomorrow but I decided it’s best to sort it today. I’m glad I did cause I had some finds. I found a bat plush that had Dustin’s cap so I had to get it (plus it was discounted when I paid for it too!), a Lego Minecraft magazine, the Minecraft Movie (it was discounted and I rememeber it being fun and silly) and Heated Rivalry! I was so surprised to see the book in Asda and I picked it up instantly, even though it had no price. I read the prologue on the bus back and ohh boy.👀

Alas though, still no sign of Stranger things stickers (well the hell are they?) but I did get an envelope I needed to send something back (the Xbox memory card which messed up around christmas) so hopefully I can send that tomorrow.

Tomorrow should be the cinema trip (weather allowing, but it’s been ok so far). The plan is to go and see Whistle, then Send Help, then post package (and find the store that’s doing record store day). That’s the hope anyway.

comments
