shadowhive: (Steve His slutty lil outfit)
So since the gig I’ve been pretty low energy, a mix of usual gig tiredness but the addition of the stressful return from it didn’t help.

Mum did let me order the next read Christie book, The Thirteen Problems, andit came as part of a boxset of other Marple stories. Well I say came it got delivered to the other house with the same number and I had to chase it up. This one is a collection of short stories and I read the first one which was pretty good. I love that Miss Marple’s kinda so unassuming people seem to forget about her (even though they’re in her own house!) and how she got the solution that was so obvious but also so easy to overlook at the same time.

Yesterday was the Pokémon presents thing and it was mostly lil announcements in celebration, along with a new set for Pokémon pocket which was a highlight (it released today and I got some good pulls already). And there’s some more info on the next game which looks cool. Also it reminded me of Pokémon Conceige which is another thing I need to watch.

Also yesterday the new Doctor Who magazine came and while I’ve not had chance to properly look I did flick through and holy fuck. It’s been 20 years since the new series came out that’s totally crazy. It really doesn’t feel that long how has that happened?? (Also a hasbro thing reminded me it’s 29 years since Revenge Of The Sith too what is time??)

Mum wanted to get a few bits and I suggested heading to town cause Morrisons sent a voucher, not expecting her to want to and then bam! Off we went today to town which ended up being tiring cause mum insisted on getting beans and soup (totally 12 cans) along with three boxes of cat food which was heavy. By the end we were loaded up on bags so either of us had hands free.

However I did luck out. The Works had the Guardians Of The Galaxy book I regretted not getting when I saw Sonic 3 (which is still playing in cinemas this weekend??) along with two puzzle books (a Christie one and Stranger Things one). Smiths had the new SFX, Lego Minecraft magazine and the new Doctor Who chronicles, which is about season 7 which is the next boxset. And B and M had both of the Stranger Things sets yay!(Yeah I have a Stranger Things problem now how could you tell)

Speaking of I finally watched the next ep tonight (which I just finished before starting this post). I had hoped to watch earlier in the week but between depression wave, tiredness and the Twitch Rivals geoguesser last night I’ve just not had chance.

Tonight’s ep was The Dive and damn. It was like a major mood shift every time the scene changed. Susie’s house with feral children, Joyce and Murray surviving the plane crashing (and that threat to Yuri), Hopper’s prison time, the investigations in Hawkins, Eleven’s memories it was wild whenever it switched to someone else.

Honestly I hate sportsball captain so many, he’s such a dick and has such a hate boner for Eddie it’s embarrassing. I groan whenever he shows up on screen and I’m praying for his downfall. I’m not an Eleven guy but I kept looking forward to her memories for the ‘friendly orderly’. Why does he look so good in that outfit being all… like that. (Though was he electrocuted at the end??)

I am glad that we got some more Eddie in this one cause it’s felt like he was pushed to the background a bit. Honestly though not a fan of how he’s being demonised and in hiding/on the run the whole time. I ,I’ve he’s such a nerd and talks in Lord Of the Rings metaphors. I do love he decides to go to Steve’s make out spot (which to me suggests they made out there).

And speaking of Steve I’m a huge fan of him stripping off (though not that it’s in the dark) and then him being dragged under by a tentacle into the upside down. If there’s not tentacle fics of him out there I’m gonna be upset but I’m not gonna even look until I’ve finished the season cause I’m sure I’ll be hit with spoilers.

Honestly I do wanna watch the next ep but at same time I worry about my focus so I might watch tomorrow night instead cause I wanna know what the deal is with the title? The massacre of Hawkins Lab?? I feel it’s gonna reveal something and something big.

But I also wanna do other things tomorrow, namely read more The Thirteen Problems, get back to song Saturday and, of course, the Tubbathon is starting so there should be a schedule of the planned events (I hope anyway).

So despite feeling incredibly rough these past few days, there have been some good things so here’s some of them.

First there was a Pokémon presents thing last Tuesday and, I can’t remember too much of specifics about it now alas. There was some new stuff on the Scarlet and violet dlc and, while both the new areas look pretty interesting, I’m not fully sold on getting it yet (mainly price wise). There’s new versions of the legendary dogs, although these look more like dinosaurs, though enter hasn’t been revealed so there’s all kinds of memery about what his will look like. There has been another short trailer yesterday which revealed all the starters are back too which makes the whole thing even more tempting.

Plus there was a code put out so everyone with Scarlet and Violet can get Mew! Mew is one of my favs they’re so cute! And every one is different apparently, with people getting all kinds of Tera types (mine was bug).

Also that day an event on Fortnite started for Jujutsu Kaisen, which is an anime that I’d not heard of but the synopsis sounds interesting. Has anyone seen it? I know there’s a thing for crunchyroll in game pass rewards so I might use it to see what it’s like.

On Wednesday I finished the first of Paternoster Gang audio box sets. I think that last one was the best of the set (despite leaving certain things unanswered) though all of the audios were strong, mostly thanks to Jenny, Strax and Vastra’s actors and their chemistry together. It’s such a shame we’ve not seen them on Who in awhile (and the audios makes me think how cheated we were not to get a series with them despite how people were clamouring for it at the time).

Also Who related, they announced on Friday there’s gonna be a fully animated version of The Underwater Menace coming in November. It looks pretty cool from the trailer and is sure to be better than the dvd release (as it was just telesnaps for half of it). I see the release of it as a good sign, because it’s bound to mean that they’re still gonna keep animating missing eps, which some people had speculated they weren’t gonna be doing any more.

This week I managed to start the Saw rewatch, watching Saw and Saw II with my friend which was nice! I’m glad we managed to find the time and sync up to do it (and my focus stayed good for them). We’re hoping to watch all the films before the new one so I hope so! (A few semi spoilers things on the first two under the cut)

We watched another of the Sherlock films on sky arts Saturday and I have to admit, my focus wasn’t fully there (I blame the utter lack of sleep). However there was something in it that struck me and that was when Sherlock and Moriarty (who was, of course, working for the nazis) were talking about how the latter was going to dispatch the former and gas chamber was mentioned and it just… sent a chill.

We also watched a Poirot and I had a vague idea who did it based on the Agatha Christie documentary we watched awhile back. It turned out I was right in my recollection, so woo memory!

There was a Lovejoy gig shown on Amazon music that night and, thankfully, it was early enough and I had the focus to watch. It surprised me how long it was (about 45 minutes!) because it was a festival set. Wilbur looked pretty and slutty with his shirt open, then took his shoes off (which one of the cameras focussed on his socked feet a few times) and Mark did the drumstick twirling thing that I just love.

Sunday I was feeling well enough for Dungeons And Dodongos which I was so worried I’d miss. My character, Ahno, a zora), had one definite mission to do today: get something to make Forte, our parties other Zora, smile after some nonsense back home last time, so Ahno was able to get him a bunch of frog choir merch (because he didn’t know what he’d like best so just decided to get one of everything) and it was worth it because he smiled and gave him a big hug which 💜. And then the session ended with combat, which has been our first one in awhile so I was able to do some cool lightning thing (it didn’t fully hit but still did damage) and there’s still gonna be more to go next time, oop.

Plans for this week are very much dependant on how my health holds up but these are some things I wanna do.
*Get back on Little Hope
*Start Stray
*Saw III
*Fortnite event stuff
*Either DND or the new Babylon 5 animation

I could add more but I think those things are enough to be reasonably doable.
shadowhive: (Bulbasaur Bulba)
The past few days have ended up being low energy, because even though my stomach is (mostly) settled it has left me drained and my people battery is severely depleted. As such my energy has been pretty… mid to low.

One good thing about having the laptop open Sunday for Dodongos was that I could look through some of the Who audio folder. I’d got a bunch from various humble bundles but I’ve not really listened to them, hence I’d decided to add Who audios to the monthly round up this year. By going through humble bundle I also found I’d got a third folder of stuff that I’d not got on the laptop so now I have even more to go through oop. (Thankfully it seems none are in the offer from the recent Who magazine, so I’m still pondering on those before month’s end)

While going through them I spotted that one of the things was a UNIT boxset so decided I’d try and listen to it this week. I listened to first story Tuesday and the second one today. They’re each part of an overarching story of the boxset so they’re not standalones in the slightest (the first is mostly set up) but it is pretty good so far. The concept introduced in the first one is an absolute genius idea that I could totally see in an ep of the show (involving Nestenes, autons and 3D printers). I might listen to the next ones in the coming mornings too (id have listened to more Tuesday but of course the laptop decided it needed a system update)

Tuesday afternoon was spent watching Shoto’s stream while building up the dragonite I got from the prime day sale. The dragonite is so adorable and friend shaped, although I think I’ve messed up the mechanism because the wings (which are supposed to flap when you turn a knob) don’t move smoothly.

Also about Pokémon I watched the twitch episode stream only it wasn’t a continuation of the eps from last week. Instead it was a bunch of random episodes loosely connected by the concept of diving. As such they had nothing to do with each other and we’re all over the place (though it amused me that first five, despite all being different regions, all featured Brock). They were still entertaining and most I’d not seen before which was good (and I especially liked seeing mimikyu) but it was still odd. Tonight’s should be continuing from last week which is good.

And again about Pokémon, the Pokémon sleep app is out which I downloaded and used that same night. Cute Pokémon sleeping is always nice! I hope we get Bulbasaur.

I missed out on the final game pass reward on fall guys (the bonus one that needed an absurd amount of levels) but the new one is out now. I had enough show bucks from the last one so it’s essentially free, and I love the capybara outfit you get from unlocking it.

There’s new Lego Star Wars reveals from Comic con (which feels like it’ll be a bit quieter because of the, extremely valid, strikes going on) and the new Ahsoka ones all look cool. I might get the two pack of fighters for Christmas, though it depends what the interiors of the others look like (I suspect the Ahsoka shuttle isn’t gonna have one which is disappointing).

The Doctor Who magazine came yesterday which looks nice because it has David Tennant and Catherine Tate on the front. I’ve not read their interview yet, but I might later. Nor is there a date for the season 20 boxset alas. I did read the anniversary poll results for the tenth and eleventh doctor episodes and some of them are… puzzling. Like, how is Human Nature/Family of Blood at 2nd for 10? And how is Army Of Ghosts/Doomsday not top 10? People are strange

I did end up getting one of those things I had my eye on (I’m still debating on the other) though it’s not coming until late August and needs something else, though i can sort that when it’s here.

The Xbox summer sale started last week but there’s nothing too much (Jedi Survivor is still too much). I might pick up a few of the indie games on my wish list that are down to a couple of quid. Other than that there’s Age Of Empires 2 dlc (though it’s hard to find exact info on which is the best one), Dredge (which looks cool but I want the disc version because it has physical bonus stuff) and the Dark Pictures Anthology (which seems to be a good deal for the set even though I mostly want the last one). There’s usually an article on the sites I go on about which are good deals/games to get but there hasn’t been yet. (Has anyone played/watched the anthology and have thoughts?)

(My indecisiveness lately has been incredibly strong)

I was hoping to go on Ghost Trick some more but I’ve been too tired for much of gaming. I have set up the Switch again so I should be able to get back on Zelda soon though, again, it’s about energy.

Now thought I’m gonna eat and then? Who knows.
shadowhive: (Prince Sidon Zora Prince!)
Yesterday sure ended up being A Day.

Shortly after making the last post I had an email about my Disney package. After two days of (apparently) intense searching the package didn’t turn up and they said to contact Disney directly. I did just that and they said it was an ‘urgent matter’ and they’d reply within 48 hours. Which was good but also stressful (keep that in mind).

Lovejoy’s ep came in the post which was good but I think I scared the postman by opening the door. I’ve not put it on the laptop yet but the art is nice. Oddly it doesn’t have a booklet which is a shame.

While waiting for Zelda I went on Pokémon and got to the bottom of Area Zero. Something definitely felt off about the professor but I was getting close to Selda’s delivery time so didn’t go further with it (I could’ve gone further)

Zelda was supposed to come between 7:09 and 11:09, but it didn’t arrive until after 12 alas. The box is nice, Nintendo did a special Zelda design inside the packaging and the extras are nice (though I still wish I had the collectors one).

I started it after walking the pup and food. I guess they don’t have horror movies in hyrule because going into secret forbidden tunnels instantly seemed like a bad idea and, predictably, something was buried down there. But at least we got Link shirtless and a new kinda hot ghost guy.

I spent most of my playtime yesterday on the first island and I’ve done three of the shrines before my eyes got too achy (from the stress, tiredness or having to use these old glasses. Or some mix of the three. Bleh. I love the steward constructs though they’re cute and yay koroks! I’m gonna go back on soon.

Before the third shrine I paused for a bit and watched the big Eurovision party on bbc 3. It was shown awhile back but I’m glad it was on again because it was fun (and poignant with the section with the Ukrainian acts). It’s worth it alone for the Subwoolfer performance so catch it on iplayer if you can!

I was gonna watch the two Eurovision shows after it but did the third shrine on Zelda instead and then my eyes went achy. Instead I put on a Who audio I’d got with one of the magazines, Night Of The Vashta Nerada which was spooky (of course) and also sad (and featured a idiot corporate executive: as well as Pam Ferris who sounded like she was having fun as a pest control person). I had to pause it last night and finish it this morning though.

I hoped today would be a nice day, with Zelda followed by Eurovision but alas there has been more stress.

Remember the Disney package that Evri had lost? Well it turned up today but ugh there’s more annoyance. I only knew it arrived because I saw an email notification pop up saying it had been ‘delivered and signed for’ whoever I hadn’t heard mum go to the door so assumed it had been left at the other house with the same number. But nope! It was left right outside the door where anyone could see it (or it could get damaged from the rain if there had been any). Secondly the tape wasn’t secure and then when I opened it the Loth Cat and Wampa galaxy’s edge creatures weren’t in the boxes they should have been. And the mystery box was missing too despite being in stock when I made the order. Ugh. So I’ve had to reply to Disney’s email ugh that info (apparently Evri have fucked up next door’s order in the same way as mine so I’m not sure if that’s a relief or a worry).

Secondly I had a letter which, ugh gave me more stress. I’m meant to have an appointment next month which is over the phone (which is stressful and ugh) only this letter says it’s in person (which is worse) so now I have to call up Monday to find out which it is and why which is something I don’t particularly want or need. Ugh.

Then when we go to walk Naryu mum decides to stress me out over other things too which isn’t great as my head is a bundle of stress (over package, over glasses, over that appointment, over general depression/anxiety things) which.. ugh

I’m gonna watch a Young Jedi Adventures now (with my Nubs plush from the package, which is so cute!) and then hope on Zelda and maybe have a nap before Eurovision.
shadowhive: (Wilbur Fembur Casting couch)
So yesterday I ended up being up early again (ugh) but it meant I could, again, put more music on the new pod thing. I’m close to having all the main stuff on there I could need thankfully but it’ll still need a few more mornings,

While the music got copied over I decided to listen to one of the humble bundle Who audios I have. I’ve two bundles on there and I’ve only listened to a few before. YesterdayI settled on Destination Nerva, which was set on the Nerva beacon from Ark In Space and Revenge Of The Cybermen, although this was before all of that. (It was also set right after Talons too.) I was ok, but ugh the Victorian guys were utter assholes even before being taken over by the infection (I’m glad it killed them). But it was nice to hear Leela again and she posed another interesting question about the tardis: why does it travel in time as well as space? The doctor didn’t really have an answer but acknowledged it wasn’t a FAQ he’d gotten.

We ended up backtracking my steps to see if I could find my glasses. I hoped it would help since I at least had an old pair I could see with. Alas no such luck. Either they ended up in some undergrowth, someone picked them up and took them (or handed them in somewhere) or they ended up in the road. The latter seems less likely though as I saw no sign of anything smashed. Ugh

We then we put around the reservoir and saw some baby animals! There were 3 ducklings, seven cygnets (miraculously as they supposedly went down the fast flowing water) and the baby geese were around too! They were so cute and fuzzy and aww. (We’d spotted them Wednesday and they must’ve just hatched because aww)

Today is Zelda day and I’d hoped to get so much done before it. I’d hoped having a date would help but alas… I managed not to do the stuff I hoped (a mix of finishing fic, reading, gaming and watching stuff) which is kinda bleh. In an attempt to actually do one of the things I intended I went back on Pokémon Violet and was able to finish all three of the games different paths.

The team Star path actually gave me feels and made me feel sorry for them, to the point where I hoped they wouldn’t disband and was glad that they didn’t have to. The Elite Four were pretty straightforward though what’s with that test thing at the start from the cute one? Also I did the battle with Arven who I managed to be harder than the elite four and champion though still not too hard now I’d trained a bit. All that’s left is Area Zero which I did start and got to the third waystation before getting too tired (maybe I’ll try and do more while waiting for the delivery of Zelda)

Also last night was Eurovision semi final 2, which we could vote in. Alas it felt weaker than the first 1 (is it just me or is that always the case with the one we vote for?) however there were some good songs that I did enjoy, especially in the second half, though als some didn’t get through. I’m glad that Australia, Austria and Belgium got through and Cyprus because he was hot. And I know there’s someone else I liked that got through but my head feels kinda fuzzy (possibly cause I drank some Oop).

I had thought about squeezing in the time monster before sleeping but didn’t. Instead I watched Taskmaster which was fun as usual and then Quackity’s short stream which announced new people coming to the QSMP also there’s gonna be some French people whichll be joining in an event Tuesday. Hopefully they’re entertaining and I hope my mindset is better to watch streams soon too

I listened to the new Lovejoy ep but only this morning. Standouts (other than Call Me) is Portrait Of A Blank Slate and Scum though I can’t help but be annoyed at Spotify ruining the flow with ads. You’re meant to get ad free music for 30 minutes when you listen to them but they were playing after every single song and they’re not 30 minutes long! Ugh get it together.

Anyway I’m gonna head down now and wait for mail, maybe go on Pokemon and see if I get a promised update from Evri (I’m not hopeful)
shadowhive: (Cameron Blood)
Semi regular post now I guess.

First off re last post, there’s no news still. I’m hoping that’s a good thing, but I know it’s likely not.

But I’m sticking with the hope so this’ll be… focussed on other things.

Yesterday I submitted the second uni assessment and honestly it felt much easier than the first. Mainly because it wasn’t all maths and I was able to at least put answers down for every question. But even so… I dunno I’m glad it’s done and gone.

I’ve been on Pokémon but not as super much as usual, because my focus has been… all over. Even so I’ve done a few things on it. I’ve done two gyms now, as well as two titans (and I’m more invested in that side of the story now) and I did the first team star base too. I might do the third gym this weekend, between running around to try and catch all the eevees on the new terra raid event.

I gotta say though I’m loving all of the new Pokémon. I’m still mostly spoiler free, but it’s funny seeing some of them (and there’s finally a dolphin Pokémon! And one that looks like Pave from animal crossing!)

As well as Pokémon I’ve also been gaming two other things. Fall Guys started its new season Tuesday and it’s all water themed which is pretty cool. A load of the season pass stuff (at least 6 things) are Foolish coded cause they’re shark themed, so I’m wanting to get them all. There’s also been a Fortnite event, giving challenges every day but some of those challenges are… ugh. Todays is doing 5000 damage, which (considering people can have a max 200 health/shields) is… a lot, especially since you’re only given a day to do them, ugh). I am wondering if fortnite will have an event calendar thing, they did it when I (briefly) went on it years ago before getting fixated (hence having stuff like the Falcon glider) but I’ve seen no info, but I dunno if that’s normal.

(Other games have been annoying, I missed out on Dreamlight valley’s villains stuff cause it didn’t last long and I didn’t realis and I went back on destiny 2 to do that season pass thing and it’s just… ugh so hard to level up)

The past few days I’ve had Christmas films on in the afternoon for mum and they’re… some are ok, some are actually entertaining but honestly? I don’t get how there’s daily Christmas films before November. (Usually I’d have the Xbox uk streams on but there’s been no good ones this week, until todays which is Devil In Me, I hope to win a code for it).

Black Friday is today, which has resulted in being bombarded with emails from everywhere (I dunno how we’ve ended up doing it and in such a big way too) and it’s just… overwhelming. I’ve looked in a few and it’s mostly stuff I’m not interested in, or if it is there’s only one or two things and the shipping kills the discount (I’m looking at you forbidden planet). I’m waiting to see what the slime story Black Friday deals are (cause the plushies are so cute) and I might get the dream team mystery bundle if it’s still there in a few days (even though the shipping is insane), but I might not cause of all the streamers they stream… least (plus I have George and Dream stuff and knowing my luck it’d include those). And we were both kinda banking on mums extra money being in by now but it’s not as of yet

Today’s plan is the aforementioned gaming, watching the Xbox stream and then there’s new qi tonight. Main thing though is to finish a birthday fic, which I’ll get back to after walking the pup (who is right now curled up here with me)
shadowhive: (Jan The Wizard)
It feels like the world has tried to be very… much again. Between the tories being (again) asses and the incident a few days ago that very nearly could have triggered a war… (and, of course, Musk being a complete and utter cunt to the twitter workers). Everything feels exhausting.

I’ve managed, largely, to avoid thinking about it but ugh… can’t things be calm for once? I’d like not to leave through historic events thanks.

I ended up submitting the uni assessment Monday even though a decent chunk I couldn’t figure out. I know the results there but I’ve not checked it yet. Mostly I’ve tried to have a few days of just being.. off (other than uni reading, which is pretty interesting)

I had been semi watching I’m a celebrity, if only to see Matt get tortured in the trials, but ugh, it became a bit patronising. Mostly because he’s acting like he’s on this to be humanised, which no. You’re doing it for the money. Don’t pretend like you care for your constituents when you’re being paid thousands to be in a jungle instead of at your post.

There’s been a few deliveries recently which is nice. There was surprise purple sparkly socks from [personal profile] turlough, a Christmas Qwertee hoodie (mostly cause the cat looked like GNF), the hoodie [personal profile] sourgreen ordered for me (which looks pretty and I’m gonna wear it today), Pokémon Violet (more on that later) and the R2 tamagotchi (which I got half off from Black Friday).

I missed James’ stream the other day (and I should probably start qualifying it’s James Marriott since two of you have hubbies called James) and apparently there was a mention of a tour? So now I’m wondering if it’ll include a date in Birmingham which would be so awesome! I just hope it’s not a sudden announcement of dates/goes insanely quick (though I don’t think he’s as big as Lovejoy but…)

I managed to finish Once Upon A Jester on Thursday which was cute and funny and fun. I’m gonna have the songs stuck in my head for so long (Wendy The Wendigo is stuck in my head a lot lately) and it was so cool seeing the boys in the credits. I think I’ll get the Jan tee at some point. (The developers are wise to do merch for Jan and the ice creams) I’d definitely say it’s one of my indie games of the year (just behind cult of the lamb)

Yesterday Pokémon Violet came, yay! There was a bit of annoyance because of the switch’s cap limit (it’s so dumb and it doesn’t tell you it’s full until it’s too late) so I had to copy stuff to the laptop yesterday, which of course needed an update. Ugh. But anyway I spent a decent chunk of time on Pokémon yesterday and I chose Quaxly, because he’s Quackity coded (though all the starters are so cute).

Thoughts so far? The early routes are pretty cracked on the variety of Pokémon and types that there are. My team now is all new Pokémon (apart from Paldean Wooper but that counts) and, although I’ve been on it for… however long, I’ve still not got to a gym yet which feels like a record. The region is very obviously Spanish themed, which is pretty cool. (And, like always with Pokémon games, the appearance of meat in food is… questionable). And the school part feels kinda… unnecessary? But there are pretty guys and cute Pokémon so yay!

Last night I decided to watch Ghostwatch. I think it was pretty good and you can definitely tell how people watching it at the time would have bought it as being real. It’s held up pretty well, though obviously you can tell it’s from the early 90’s (by the tech and the style of the doctor lady). The studio section had a very much vibe of Most Haunted live and there’s so many found footage type tropes, which is pretty impressive for the time. It makes me wonder how many people that watched it thought it was real (apparently it did cause some people to have trauma and a suicide, hence why it’s never been repeated or anything) and if the number on the screen led anywhere. (I do wanna read the included short story soon).

One thing that did take me out a bit though was the use of term glory hole for a cupboard under the stairs which… obviously hasn’t aged well. Apparently it was a slang term for them at the time, but… well.

I might check out some of the special features, maybe tonight. (I had meant to watch the event horizon stuff recently but the big one is as long as the film! Or maybe longer!)

This weekend I dunno what my plans are other than Pokémon (and watching Brokenwood today). I might fic some and I do wanna try and get back on Destiny 2 (even though I won the edition with season passes when I’ve been on it it felt like it wasn’t levelling the pass up) and I still need levels for the fortnite bonus battle pass (and rocket league event).

But for now I think we’re gonna walk the pup soon.

(Also is anyone near a smiths or something? I completely forgot to look for the palaye Kerr any when I was last out and likely won’t again)
shadowhive: (Lego Porg Two porgs in a cloak)
So I missed in the last post thoughts on last weeks Pokemon thing when I did the last who post, oop. Almost half of it was about the side games, with most of that being features already mentioned (which I guess people could’ve missed but still). There was so new info on Scarlet/Violet which was good. There’s a lot of hot guys in it, but alas there wasn’t much new Pokémon info. However what new Pokémon were shown were adorable! Fidough (a cute new dog Pokémon) is so cute! And yay for a new Wooper! I hope there’s more variants in this region, regional variants are such a cool idea but they always seem to be way underused. I’m not too sold on the legendaries being… transport but I guess we’ll see.

I have ended up preordering it from Game cause there’s a few cute statuette (well free is a matter of perspective, you have to pay more from game causa the postage but it’s a small price considering such a thing would be way more alone)

On Thursday I watched a reef games twitch stream (well half watched really) and I ended up winning a game for it! It’s called Collar x Malice and was a physical game, so I sent my address the same day. It was posted Friday and came Saturday which was so fast it surprised me and them. I’ve not had a chance to play it yet though.

This past weekend I said to myself I’d do three things: watch Lego Star Wars Summer Vacation, watch Lightyear and watch Umbrella Academy… I ended up doing two of the three (guess which one I still didn’t do?)

Lego Star Wars Summer Vacation was funny as always, if a little sad too. (I do hope we get something about what happens to Finn and Poe etc but it seems there’s nothing set post TROS yet.) I did enjoy Lightyear too and I’m glad I got to see it, though there is one thing that… was really an odd choice. (I’m not gonna say cause spoilers if anyone hasn’t seen.) It was nice to see a same sex couple in it though, albeit very briefly. Hopefully it leads to more.

I ended up going to co-op after Lightyear and ended up getting some bargains (yay cheap cheesy bread!) but alas there was the problem I’ve had there for awhile. They said there wasn’t the student discount, even though there should be. I got sick of playing roulette with it, so once I got back I dmed co-op and it seems they’re looking into it and getting it sorted. Which, finally, but I shouldn’t need to do this.

I ended up using some of my Xbox reward points to get Rimworkd console edition because I was curious about it. The first playthrough had two people I just had to use, one called Sappy and one called Gerard (he was even an artist!) unfortunately during that first run the most useful person died pretty early and slowed things down. I did try another run, but that didn’t fare too much better. Everyone was still alive when I called it a night but only one of the three starting people carried stuff which ended up being an annoyance I wasn’t prepared for.

I ended up being pretty unfocussed Sunday, I watched some videos I’d meant to and the Ukrainian freedom orchestra prom which was nice but I zoned out. My stomach ended up being funny later in the night and I was sick once, which I think was part of why I zoned out. It was more settled By Monday afternoon but was still… ugh. I dunno if it was something I ate (unlikely) or if it’s due to the weather warming agin but ugh.

I did have a delivery Monday, which was the Misfits pride tee and poster. For some reason they came in a huge box which was baffling. But it’ll be useful to keep things safe while moving stuff around (which I plan to do then the heat defeats me).

Speaking of deliveries I found out the youtooz Punz bees have finally been sent, about 5 days ago. Alas tracking hasn’t been updated since but at least they’re on the way at last.

Yesterday I watched some of the Who ray stuff, watching all the things on the Revelation Of The Daleks disc. Some are bits and pieces which are odd but there were some nice bits. There was a short bit with the director speaking about the differences between old and new who (since he’s one of the few that’s worked on both) and the making of was surprisingly long (but no Nicola or Colin, which was odd and nor was there Kara’s actress). So now there’s just the few things on the Varos and two doctors second discs to watch and then I’m done with the boxset. Woo!

I wonder when the next Who ray boxset will be announced (and what it’ll be, I hope it’s the Fifth doctor since we’re way overdue). Abominable Snowman has a release date for next month at least which should be fun. There’s also an odd thing about the new new who ep as no one seems to know anything about it. Which yeah, I get secrecy and all but there’s not even the hint of a date. I’ve heard rumblings of October but no one seems to know. Which seems odd.

Anyway, yesterday was also the release of Two Point Campus which I gave a go cause it was on game pass (and I was watching the Xbox uk stream). It’s by the same people that did two point hospital (which is in turn a spiritual successor to theme hospital) so it’s a similar style, albeit different cause of the subject. The only issue is I had to stop playing… but when I came back to it the game kept crashing whenever I start it up. Hopefully it’s easily patched but still…

Since I couldn’t go back on that I decided to finally start Resident evil 2, though I didn’t do too much because I felt a bit unfocussed again. I obviously started as Leon and got as far as the police station. But damn that opening at the gas station goes hard huh? And the opening credits looked so cool. It made me wanna watch Welcome To Racoon city again.

After that I decided to watch an ep of Inside no 9 since I’ve still not watched the newest series. I watched the second ep which ended up being surprisingly creepy. Makes me glad I don’t work with kids I can tell you.

I then ended up, somehow, on the DND site reading about races and classes while watching foolish. I blame seeing pics from the new Spelljammer stuff (which looks so cool and awesome and I wanna play, I mean it has giant space hamsters, space fish and vampirates!). It made me come to the conclusion that I’d be an elf ranger, at least from those base classes.

Then was one final bad thing yesterday. It seems when I amended the shopping I didn’t allow the substitution for my drink, which means I didn’t get any which… ugh. I should be ok with other things but… ugh.

Today has so far been nothing special, but there’s a splatoon direct this afternoon so I’ll be watching that, as well as the Xbox uk cult of the lamb stream after.

Mum called up before going cause she had an email from wowcher, with insomnia tickets with £10 off. I’ve been going back and forth about going. Only seapeekay has been announced to be going of the creators I watch, and while he seems nice and all he’s not really enough to justify me going. However the voice actress of Zelda is gonna be there for a meet and greet, but only on Friday according to the site. That’d be pretty cool, but I worry if I book Wilbur or someone will say ‘oh I’m going… on Saturday’. Plus there’s also the thing about… people, which they’ll be a lot and I’m not sure if I can handle that. I guess we’ll see. I’ll ponder on it.

I’m thinking of starting a Lord Of The Rings run before the new series starts. It’d be the extended editions one a weekend from Saturday. I’ve not seen them in ages so… it’d about time for a watch. Despite the time investment it entails. (I should probably watch The Hobbit as well but there isn’t the time for both trilogy’s and I still don’t have the extended of the last one)

(I wanna watch The Umbrella Academy soon still and I’m determined to watch it before starting Sandman).

Mum’s friend says she’ll lend us a thing to help shift the washer that’s been in the garage. That’ll mean we can wheel it down to the kitchen and see if it works (which it should since its apparently new). If it does then we won’t have to get a new washer which will be a relief because that’s been such an annoyance.

Anyway, that ended up being rambly so I’m gonna try and sort uni now and then just… flop.

The past few days have, again, been rough. Although that’s mostly due to the world going to hell and yeah, I’m gonna mention some parts of the world being sucky very briefly at the start of this post so feel free to just scroll.

First off there was Florida being all shitty with the ‘don’t say gay’ bill which, of course, is designed to target trans kids. It’s absolutely absurd how people are trying to screw over trans people and kids and trying to stifle education on it (and, as always targeting trans people is just the start. Texas’s governed is also trying to pull a similar stunt, though that’s even worse (and I’m not even sure if there’s anything backing it up).

Unfortunately I have a tendency to go on news tweets about such things but the sole purpose of blocking/reporting transphobic comments, but fuck is it exhausting and downheartening.

And then, of course, Russia decided to invade Ukraine. I get the sense that they thought it was going to be a pushover and to an extent it certainly looked that way during the doomscrolling I did (which yeah, it’s an unfortunate thing that I tend to do and I’d advise against it) but honestly? Ukraine are putting up a serious brave fight and people are backing them for it (yeah in some cases slower than would be useful but still). The prime minister is definitely an example of an actual leader, which is actually rare to see.

I hope for an end to the conflict soon and that this will spell an end to Putin’s leadership… but who the fuck knows these days? Humans have proven time and again that they can be absolutely shitty to one another.

Even so there has been examples of kindness and hope, Ukrainians fighting back, Russian civilians staging mass protests and various organisations organising things to try and help.

Of the last one a bunch of game developers are stepping up, either making direct donations of donating profits from games to the Ukrainian Red Cross. A list of these can be found here. Of the games I can definitely recommend the Turing test, as well as Steamworld heist. So please, consider getting one of these games, or sharing the list to anyone that might be interested.

Anyway, onto less grim things.

As it is did an interview/performance thing on Amazon music Thursday which I enjoyed. They didn’t make an appearance until half way through (about an hour in) and the presenter is kinda… annoying? But that might just be me. The boys were very sweet and I think In Threes was the best of the performances (they got both Cody and Jordan in which was unexpected!)

Because of how grim things were I decided to start a game called Alba A Wildlife Adventure, which is a sweet, bright game all about helping animals. It isn’t terribly long, but I enjoyed it and think it’s definitely something I needed. So if you like animals and nature I’d definitely say pick it up. (Alas some parts were in small text which was hard to read, I really need to chase up an eye test for new glasses.) There was also a sweet touch of a pride flag hanging on one of the buildings (the new one which included the trans colours too, does it have a name?) which I thought was sweet.

Wilbur’s decided to do a stream on Saturday night… which ended up being a major discomfort stream. Who’d have expected a stream about Tetris to go in all the directions it did? I certainly didn’t.

There was also the ‘final’ manhunt premier which was pretty entertaining. It’s actually impressive some of the things they end up doing and I’m curious what an irl one will be. But speaking of the irl manhunt I saw so many people say that Badboyhalo would be a badass at it and was… so surprised. At first I thought it was some sort of meme that was lost on me because, while Bad is funny and smart, being tough isn’t something is have associated with him.

Until yesterday when I found out that he shoots competitively, has throwing knows and (apparently) can use a bow and a katana as well. Which… yeah I’m completely blindsided by that all and my view of him is forever changed.

(Of course there’s still the thing where he seems allergic to actually meeting people but…)

Yesterday was Pokemon day and my expectations weren’t terribly high. There was a presentation at 2pm and, for the most part, it seemed to be just things announced over the course of the week. There was also an announcement that the shaymin event would show up in diamond and pearl and there’d be an update for Pokémon legends (which I really need to finish).

And then there was one last video to end the presentation,m which turned out to be a reveal of new Pokémon games! Scarlet and Violet are gonna come out later this year and they look so pretty! They also showed off the new starters which look so cute! I’m torn between Sprigatito the grass cat and Quaxly the water duck (which looks so like Quackity it’s strange).

For Pokémon day I also ended up going on Pokémon shield to get the wild area charizard, venusaur and blastoise from the Pokémon day event. I already had them all but figured I should anyway. I ended up getting them all, but not only that I also ended up getting the Galarian legendary birds which was unexpected. I’ll do some more of the crown tundra dlc before game switching.

I ended up watching a gameblast charity stream, but my focus wasn’t really there as much as it usually is, which is a shame but… ah well.

This week I should actually be able to finish my uni assessment in good time (I’m actually ahead in my reading for once) and going to pick up meds and such Wednesday shouldn’t impact it much. (Mum also suggested going to the cinema Saturday to avoid some tree cutting, but we’ll see what’s on and if the weather holds).

Next week is when the Funeral For A Friend gig in Birmingham is and I’m still not sure about going so I probably won’t (they posted a pic of them rehearsing so I’m sure it won’t be delayed). Although Nat did mention that maybe Kill The Lights pushed the gigs back so they could join the tour which… would change things. I’m not sure though, surely they would have said if that was true? But I think the first tour date is tonight so we’ll see.

I guess this turned out to be rambly, oops. I hope to get back to posting more and reading my friends list at some point soon (and get back to song Saturdays cause I’ve been so faily) but we’ll see.

This weekend has felt like it’s forever. In fact that’s a thing of the whole last week. It feels like so much has happened it’s hard to process.

But first off. Hi people from the snowflake friending thing. I’m honestly not expecting to get anyone from it, but if anyone does show up… welcome.

So I did none of the things I mentioned hoping to do in the last post, though I am hoping to do some of the Who ray stuff tonight.

Saturday night I ended up watching the lore stream through Techno’s on YouTube (I’ve not watched Eret or Tubbo’s pov, but unlike others since they were together 95% of the time I don’t think there’s gonna be much difference) and it was actually a pretty awesome stream. It was funny and sweet and the three of them (dubbed the revengers) worked together so well. (And there’s such awesome art of them all) They managed to achieve their goal, which was to save Micheal and get justice for what Sam had done, which ended up not being his death but locking him in the prison he ran (which seemed more fitting).

This was followed by Manatreed’s first (and it seems only) stream. Alas it was plagued with issues at the start but it was nice how helpful everyone was and he seemed to be so sweet. I really hope that he’s ok.

Then there was a few other streams before I went zzz.

I spend the weekend doing pokemon legends, which has been pretty fun so far. I like I said it’s taking some getting used to and there is some annoyances (the satchel size being one) but overall it’s a fun and different entry into the series. At the moment I’m just outside the area to do electrode.

Sunday started with an annoyance as I came down the stairs to see mum… standing on the table dusting off the shelves. Now we had agreed to sort the table out together and only once I’d done my uni assessment so to see her like that was… a mix of infuriating, stressful and worrying. What if she’d fell and hit her head or something? I mean it’s so stupid and just… ugh

The night was the end of Around The World In 80 days, which has been a pretty fun thing to watch. Honestly I was surprised that they fit the whole trip in one 8 ep series, but it worked well. And the last scene does hunt a possible follow up (or maybe it’s just a tease).

Alas Sunday night ended up going pretty terribly. Will I go into it in detail here? Not in this post. Maybe in a locked one at another time, but most likely not. Suffice to say my mood crashed terribly, to the point where I shut off twitter notifications and ended up just… laying in the dark in silence.

This followed to Monday when I was so numb I didn’t do anything. I had intended to do uni stuff in the morning but just… couldn’t.

It took awhile to get back into a kinda grove. Pokemon proved to be a good enough distraction but… yeah it was a pretty bad day.

The night proved to be better, even though there was an annoyance of the pad needing an update.

I was gonna do more uni stuff this morning but I was pretty cozy and then when I did open the laptop and did some the thing needed to update and restart. Ugh. Hopefully I can do more in a few.

Tonight I’m hoping to watch something and maybe work on fic, but we’ll see.

Home again

shadowhive: (Bulbasaur Bulba)
So the past few days have been pretty uneventful. Being away caught up to me a bit and I’ve been slightly drained (especially Tuesday) which I wasn’t kinda expecting. I’ve not been able to get back in the swing of uni reading though I did do some yesterday (I planned to do more today but there was drilling or something outside which... no).

I read two chapters of Black Spire yesterday, since I want to finish it before starting Resistance Reborn. I need to pick a day just to dedicate to reading it I think. I need to read my comics as well, which I’ve failed at but we’ll see.

I’ve been doing Pokémon shield too. I’ve got my final team now and I’ve done five gyms so far. I’m gonna do the next one this afternoon. While I am enjoying it I agree with something I saw on twitter, that it could do with a few more non-gym towns. So far the only ones that haven’t are the first two which seems a bit... odd. But ah well.

On Fallen Order I’m exploring the second main planet, Zeffo. I’ve just reached a tomb and I’m gonna explore it more tonight. I love Cal and BD-1 so much (and hopefully I can get better at the fighting with practice). That’s gonna be my main Xbox focus, although I might try and do some of the game pass quests before they change).

Speaking of Star Wars I caught up on the first two Resistance eps and they’re pretty good so far. I love the link back to TLJ with D’qar and I’m looking forward to seeing where it’s gonna go.

I’ve caught up on Space 1999 though episode 1 and 2 of season 2 weren’t on the app which is odd. (It cant be that they timed out since the last of season 1 was still there). I’m not sure I like the changes for season 2, but we’ll see I guess. I still need to catch up on 7 worlds, His Dark Materials and war of the worlds.

My mood’s been a bit... I dunno. A mix of sad that I’m not with Heather anymore, exhausted and glad to be back in my own space with the girls. It’s a bit... bleh but *shrugs*. Being ack with mum has been mixed too because she’s been a bit annoying about stuff. Pretty much as soon as I was home she was bombarding me with stuff she’d seen and the last few days it’s been a bit like there’s been something every day running through her head. Hopefully she calms soon. Still, her main Christmas thing is sorted since she changed her mind and wanted something in the qvc sale.

Tomorrow there’s a streetpass meet in Birmingham, but the trouble is the trains are on strike so I can’t get there the usual way. Instead I’m reliant on buses which is proving to be difficult. There’s meant to be one by the station but when I tried to find out about it the site tried sending me via the train. As a result I dunno if I’ll go. Plus it’s been horrible and rainy so...

The plan for the weekend is starting my Star Wars run. I want to watch all of the love action films (all 10) before seeing Rise Of Skywalker. So this weekend will be starting the prequels. I’ve got the blu rays set up by the Xbox so we’ll see how far we get.

Anyway now I’m gonna get back on Pokemon for awhile then write a bit,
shadowhive: (Cal Making Music)
So yesterday my adventures with Heather came to an end. It was... I dunno. I gave her lots of hugs but it didn’t really hit me until later. I already miss her and her snuggles.

The night before we watched stuff. I ended up putting on The a Temple on Netflix after Mamma Mia and it was pretty good, though the ending was a little odd. Where did the pretty guy run off too?

Saying goodbye to Heather was hard, but so was lugging everything back. I had to keep stopping. It didn’t help that the train I came back on stopped at Birmingham instead of carrying on home so I had to change. Thankfully on the walk home I got the big bag around my neck which made it easier.

Mum was still here when I got home but she soon had to head to the library. Naryu was excited to see me and gave me licks and cuddles, I missed her so much. I got Fallen Order downloaded and basically snuggled and went on Pokemon. Yesterday I did two gyms at last. I loved Milo’s with all the Wooloo and Milo is adorable. My team is complete for now I think, at least till I get ponyta anyway.

All my books had came so I ordered some stuff for ingredients for the Galaxy’s Edge recipes. I want to try and finish reading Black Spire before resistance reborn, because ahhh. I’m also gonna try and read through no tags soon.

I watched Vienna Blood last night thinking it would be interesting but... I lost interest pretty quickly and I dunno why. After that I watched the first ep of The Mandalorian. Of course I knew what happened at the end thanks to twitter but the first episode plays out a lot like I thought the series would generally. It’s only that last few minutes, where we discover what the asset is that changes the whole thing and pushes it in a new direction. I might watch the second ep tonight, along with the new Resistance eps.

After that I decided to give Fallen Order a try. I worried the controller would be a bitch but it behaved while I played. I’m enjoying it so far, it looks so great, Cal is so pretty and BD-1 is adorable! I’m gonna go on it again tonight I think.

I didn’t play too long, so I watched a Space 1999 ep, alas the player didn’t have the ones from the other week so I’ve missed 5 but that’s ok. I only watched one ep before I got too tired.

Heather has got back safe which I’m glad for, though there was a deer incident on the way back eep. I had the new Night Vale on is morning but didn’t do much else, I’m taking it easy today.

The food shop has just come, which ugh. Annoyingly they somehow sent ginger instead of garlic which is odd especially since it’s not a sub. Ahsoka from the Entertainer did come too which is great cause I’ve been after her for ages,

Now I’m gonna snug up and maybe go on Pokemon soon.
shadowhive: (Bulbasaur Bulba)
Friday was a pretty easy day really. We picked up Pokemon Shield and I got a Star Wars bag from Disney which is, thankfully, just the right size for my Zelda bag. We had Pizza Hut again and had some boozy hot chocolate from the German Market which was nice. They put baileys in it so now I might have to get a bottle for Christmas.

We had a lazy day, I did some on Pokemon (though I got caught up in the wild area). So far it’s pretty good and I’ve got a varied team which is mostly new Pokemon. I might switch one of two out soon but I’ve not seen ones that catch my eye enough to do so yet. And the new ponyta is awhile away. I’m almost at the first gym which I probably should have done before now but... wild area.

We’ve watched a few films as well which have varied in quality. I watched Jigsaw at last, which was the best one of them I think. Cold Skin was interesting but felt a bit too drawn out in places. Worlds End was better than I remembered it being and Wounds had good ideas but didn’t focus enough on them. The new Flatliners was pretty good too. Diego Luna with long hair? Unf.

Yesterday was comic con. We got priority tickets so I was able to see the Anthony Daniels talk which was funny in places. Unfortunately I didn’t get his autograph though, with it being free with his book loads of people were there and just... no luck. It felt it was a bit poorly planned but... what can you do.

However getting the auto from Taylor Grey (Ezra from Rebels) was much easier. He’s so cute and he was so sweet. He took the time to talk with everyone and I didn’t have anything in mind today, so we talked a bit about the Mandalorian (which he thinks is great and peak Filoni), that Ezra is still alive out there somewhere and that Vanessa (Hera) is doing ok and is having surgery.

I used my money to a few things too. First was getting the bulbasaur funko at last and its so adorable I love it! It was my first time seeing it in person so I just had to. I got two black series figures too, Beckett from Solo and the new Rise Of Skywalker C-3PO. If I had more I’d have probably picked up Chopper too.

Last was the Rebels panel which was fun and entertaining, they had a Chopper on postage and They answered questions and talked about fav eps and what they’d like to see. And Taylor being adorable.

While figuring out what to eat at the station (I’ve ate in two of the new places there, a Lebanese place and somewhere called Giraffe yesterday) I caught sight of something I didn’t know was there. There’s a cat cafe at the station! So I filed that away and, when we got back to the hotel, I looked into it. Turns out they had a nice sounding menu and when I looked into it there was only two slots for this morning... so I booked one since it was free.

Cut to this morning and off we went and it was nice. The food was good (as was the mock tail I had) and all the kitties was so cute. There was one that looked like a baby Midna as well as one that played with my shoelaces. They were utterly adorable (and one came for Heather’s wedges, managing to nab one). The whole place was adorable and I put pics on insta.

The rest of the day was sorting Heather’s laundry and packing, which, it’s so sad really. It’s been such a nice time and feels like it’s gone far too quickly. I hope she can come back again soon. We’re watching some things now, Mamma Mia at the minute and snuggling. (I still think that fic I did for Kliego week based on it is the best I’ve ever done.)

Tomorrow’s plan is to take Heather to the airport and to get home, where I’ll snuggle the pup, sort food shop, get Fallen Order downloaded and watch tonight’s stuff on iplayer. The night is either gonna be Fallen Order or Space 1999 depending on how tired I feel.
