shadowhive: (Ray Hair of sex)
Yesterday I watched Luca on Disney+ which was pretty sweet. It’s given a lot of people all kinds of vibes and I can see why, especially what the grandma says at the end.

I watched Kylie's Showgirl concert on sky arts and it was a nice reminder just how many awesome songs he has. Plus there were many scantily clad dancers so she clearly knows her audience.

I wish I knew why I’ve been so drained and low energy lately. Yesterday I just went so tired, in the afternoon, in the night. I can’t say it was because of the heat because it was cool and wet yesterday. I dunno, it’s odd. Maybe it’s a depression thing.

I did some of the Summerfest game demos on Xbox yesterday and so I’ve not tried 6. out of those its 50/50, between games I liked and games I didn’t. Liked is Tunic, Catlateral damage and Ariette Of Spirits.

Today Naryu is happy cause she had a walk and saw two of her poodle friends.

***

So it’s the last June something stuff already, aww.

Day 19: What is something that you associate with a character in fandom, but aren't sure if it's canon or fandom?

Hmm, honestly, I’m not sure. My mind is feeling a bit blank, though I’m sure there’s something obvious. Maybe I’ll think and edit something in here.

Edit: I’ve been in the Waterparks fandom for five minutes but I can see how Awsten has heart eyes for Otto (and likes to see him eat). Otto is technologically inept.

In Star Wars after Episode IX Finn and Poe get married (and also Finn gets trained as a Jedi). Both of these things should have happened! *grumbles how they wasted a perfectly good character in Finn*

Day 20: A random character shows up at your doorstep at dinnertime saying a friend sent them.  Why did your friend send that person, how does it go, and what do you talk about?

I think it depends on the friend. I think it’s either be Maxx from Set It Off or Ray from MCR. As for what we’d talk about it would depend if I could talk. I’m a naturally shy person and I think I’d just be a bit overwhelmed at them being here. It’d probably end up being talk about nerdy stuff, or maybe about music (Ray could show me some stuff on the guitar I’ve got). And if Maxx I’d ask why the Lonely Dance was like that.
shadowhive: (Tuck Cuffed)
Day 18: Recall a time when two of your fandoms collided, at least in some way.  For example, a song that you fell in love with from one fandom showed up in a second fandom.

The first one that came to mind is when Matt Tuck from Bullet For My Valentine met Kylie Minogue which is just… so weird. Because you don’t picture a guy in a Welsh metal band going to see her. (Which is ironic because today there was a new Bullet video and tomorrow is a Kylie gig on sky arts)

Then I also remembered that this happened. In 2012 there was a special comic run called Assimilation, which was a Star Trek crossover with Doctor Who, where the Borg and the Cybermen formed an alliance. It’s such a wild concept, and now that I’ve mentioned it I think I’ll have to reread it to refresh my memory

***

I didn’t do any game demos yesterday like I hoped, because I got tired again. We did finish the Potter run we’ve been doing, with both Deathly Hallows parts yesterday which is the first time I’ve watched them both that close together.

(Though ugh safari lost all the tabs again, I restored most but… ugh)

I also watched the extended Xbox thing, which was a bit… eh for me. Although I did like the thing they did for Hades.

I then watched a thing on 25 best sci fi films and it was a mix of things I’d not seen in ages, things I’d not seen and one I’d never even heard of (it was from 1936 though so…). And Empire Strikes back was one of the top of ones as it should be.

Today there’s been a new Bullet song which is… eh. Maybe it’ll grow on me though. The video is pretty weird too. There’s a new album which is apparently coming out after my birthday and then a tour… which like palaye is missing Birmingham (although it’s less annoying for them)

Today has been cooler cause rain and I had a doze. Well, after Bad Batch which was awesome as always, especially that reveal at the end.

Tonight it’s the last Intergalactic and I’m hoping to go on some demos.
shadowhive: (Klaus Dumpster drunk)
Day 17: Do you prefer art, fic, or vids?  Why?  Bonus: If someone was to give you a fandom gift, what format would it be?

Definitely fic or art over vids., though I’ve not been the best at reading lately, cause my focus has been pretty bad.

As for gifts, again fic or art is good! I’ve missed getting gift fic so anything would be nice, like I mentioned a few posts back. *sends inspiration vibes*

***

Yesterday wasn’t too exciting, other than Loki which was another great ep filled with feels.

I watched the first ep of First Wave on horror channel but it was a bit eh and I don’t think I’ll watch more.

I did end up doing two of the summer fest demos, Tunic and Strings Theory. Tunic was cute, though tough towards the end. Strings Theory was tricky and I gave up on one of the levels cause I lost focus. I’m gonna try some of the others later

Tonight is another Xbox stream, so I’m curious if there’ll be more info on stuff.

There’s been a new Picard teaser trailer, which I’m curious about. I’m glad Seven is gonna be back though it doesn’t seem something strange is going on.

The switch is being annoying since the last update, which is happening to others too, in that downloads get error codes. It’s so annoying.

This morning the elder scrolls loot crate came, which included a tee as well as sone pretty atronach bowls (although they are a little small).

There was annoyance when we went to walk the pup, as my keys had fell out my pocket in the horse and I only realised when we went out. I managed to squeeze back in under the garage door but it was still so annoying.
shadowhive: (Klaus Laying)
Day 15: What fandom pairing took you over like Venom took over Eddie?

Hee I like the wording of this question. Before I answer it I was late to watching Venom but when I watched it… I could see why people loved it so much. I hope the sequel has that level of chaos.

But onto the question!

Well first that comes to mind is, of course, Waycest. It’s a ship that’s got it’s hooks in me and it won’t let go. Regardless of the childish antis (that sent death threats) or the friends I’ve had that I’ve lost along the way. It’ll always be an OTP regardless.

The second is Diego/Klaus from The Umbrella Academy. Season one of the show sent me absolutely feral for the ship and I read and wrote so many fics. Their relationship in that first season and all their seasons together… they’re just the best. I mean how often do you have a canon scene where one ties up the other (ok it went timey wimey so it never happened but still!)

Sunshine challenge is back next month and, from the masterlist post, it seems to be somehow Greek focused. I dunno what this will mean so we’ll see

***

Yesterday ended up being exhausting cause I went to sleep early (and dozed during Maxx’s stream too). I did finish Thirteen Storeys though, which I did enjoy reading so if you’re after anything spooky I’d recommend it. (Plus it had LGBT characters in it which is a plus)

I dunno what I’m gonna read next. I’ve got a Into The Darkness out to start (the next High Republic book by my fav Star Wars author and it sounds like that’ll be spooky too). I might read some of the graphic novels I have first, or at least one. There’s Collapser and Electric Century by Mikey and Heartstopper.

I did read the War Of The Bounty Hunters comics that came Saturday, which was just the prelude and first up issue. I didn’t realise just how big the whole arc would be. The prelude has a checklist at the back and there’s 34 issues starting with preludes from May all to the end in October. There’s include the war of bounty Hunter issues, some standalones and issues of all the current runs of comics which is… a lot. I want to know what happens, but it seems a tad overwhelming.

And that reveal at the end of the last issue…

Today is the Nintendo stream, which I’m excite for. I expect there’ll be Pokemon and a smash reveal but I am hoping for Zelda and Animal Crossing info.

Tomorrow I’ve gotta go and pick up meds (and also see if there’s cat litter cause it’s been substituted for something the girls hate) so I hope it’s not too hot. And I need to find my pod thing. If I’m going that far I’m blasting Greatest Hits in my ears.

Like always I’m sure I meant to say something else but it’s just… gone. Ah well
shadowhive: (Awsten Rainbow boy)
So first catching up on the last two June somethings

Day 13: Squicks - What are some things that squick you in fandom - not necessarily "icky", though it can be. From anything involving blood, to bad grammar.

So when I saw this I was a bit like ‘hmm I’m not sure’ which was one of the reasons I didn’t answer it, but thinking of it I’ve come up with a few things.

Underage: I’m not a fan of it really, I mean if it’s between teenagers it’s ok but younger is a bit… Nah.

Memory loss: this is a pretty big one for me and it’s for a definite personal reason. My nan has Alzheimer’s and seeing her go through that, seeing her mind fade until she looked blankly at us… I just, no. It’s a big nope from me.

…damn I know something else came into my mind but now that I’m sitting here typing this… they’ve gone out of my head, which is annoying.

Oh there’s one thing which, I dunno if it counts as a squick, it’s probably more of an annoyance. So ao3 is great because it has a tagging system, but what’s not great is when people do these posts and every chapter is a different fic…. In a different fandom. So the tag list becomes a mass of fandoms and pairings and it just becomes this huge block of text (even worse if they don’t have the pairings listed in chapters or a contents page).

Day 14: What fandom broke your heart?

I’m not a big crier. It takes a lot to make me cry, but I’ll tell you what has made me cry and that’s Star Wars. First off Revenge Of The Sith made me teary when I watched it, especially during order 66 and everything on Mustafar (it still has the power to do that, especially after the clone wars).

Th second point is much later, in 2016. It was around christmas and news broke that something had happened to Carrie Fisher. I’d hoped that she would pull through, that she was a fighter and she’d be ok… but she didn’t. And I just, I was a mess. And I dunno why, but it just upset me so much.

Needless to say when I saw The Last Jedi, and there were scenes with Princess Leia both almost dying and having a last conversation with Luke (and then it being dedicated to her) it made me cry.

So yeah.

I’m gonna try and catch up on reading other people’s June something posts at some point, maybe later.

***

Ok away from emotional stuff.

Yesterday I watched Miss Congeniality 2 because it was on tv, which I hoped it would be, and it was fun. Not as good as the first one, but it was still funny.

Yesterday was the Xbox e3 presentation and it was pretty good. Most everything is going to be on game pass, and there was a lot of trailers for stuff though my mind is pretty bad at remembering them. I’m excited for Starfield, which is coming out next year cause it’s spacey, and Hades is coming to Xbox in a few months which is awesome!

However the best game of yesterday wasn’t during that, but during the Square Enix stream after it. I wasn’t going to watch it and only caught the start because I was watching something else but I’m glad I did. Because the first game (which took up about 15 minutes of the stream which felt a tad long) was a Guardians Of The Galaxy game! It looks awesome and so fun and it’s just we! It’s coming out the week after my birthday and mums agreed to put at least some towards it so woo!

Although you know what was annoying? They replaced some of the music for the stream due to issues and just… DMCA is so fucking awful like that, that an official developer stream of a game that will obviously have a music focus had to stream it out… what a stupid fucking thing. Ugh.

(I did win a code for something called Griftlands from an Xbox co stream thing so I’ll go on that tonight I think.)

Last night I watched Jeepers Creepers, cause someone mentioned it on Twitter the other day and I’d not seen it in years. It was pretty good, though I had to wonder exactly what the deal is with the creeper being tied to the song. It seemed to be just used because of the last scene.

Before it I did watch the Waterparks stream again, because it was the last night to watch it and I’d not realised it. It was a pretty good show and I’m glad I got to watch again.

I did end up getting a spark of creativity last night, so I ended up finishing the first season of kink fic, woo! I might work on finishing the angsty fic next, before deciding what the next one is.

Today there’s no E3 stuff which seems pretty strange. I’m gonna try and finish Thirteen Storeys though and then… I dunno what book will be next. Maybe Into The Darkness, or the graphic novels I have. We’ll see.
shadowhive: (Jay Tongue!)
So usually on song Saturday I’ve got a youtube vid to put here but this time it’s not. Instead the song is here and yeah it’s not even a full song but shut up because it’s Jay making music and ahhh!

So yeah last night he finally posted the promised clip of his band up on his Insta and there it is, for the song Beast. I’m assuming he’s doing bass and the growls like he did with Bullet, but honestly I’m not sure. Nor is there a name for the band. Or a line up. Or a release date. Or… any information at all. But I’m so glad it exists and that he’s gonna be back and rocking out.

(And yeah if he posts more I fully expect to go feral and fic him more again)

***

I did some more ESO last night, finishing the first story quest and I was on the way to the second one and I saw a quest marker. I only was gonna check it to see what it was, since it was a letter on a post, but then it came up with who you had to see and I just had to do it. Because it was to Alchemy, who was in the Summerset expansion and she was awesome. (Her questline in that even got a reward for its portray of a trans woman) not only was it awesome to see her again but the quest was also a mystery one, which I always like. So yeah, I spent the night doing that.

Also amusingly, someone that was with Alchemy mentioned Rigurt, who I love because he’s such an idiot.

There was also intergalactic and Tula once more proves to be the worst mother again, ugh.

This morning I had a delivery, one of comics, one of the Heartstopper graphic novel I won, which also came with a cute lil bookmark and rainbow laces which was cute.

Day 12: Who is someone that you share the most fandoms with?

I’m not sure, I think I share about an even number of fandoms with people really. Hmmm….

Catch up

Jun. 11th, 2021 01:10 pm
shadowhive: (BB-8 Thumbs up)
E3 started yesterday with summer game fest and it was… ok. There wasn’t any bug reveals (not that I expected any) but there were some interesting indie ones, like planet of Lana and two point campus. Plus there’s a bunch of ID at Xbox game demos going up next week including Tunic which is so cute!

There’s an Xbox sale for e3 and, while it’s advertised as big there’s not much that interests me. There’s the new Resident Evil remakes (2 and 3), Control and the season passes for Valhalla and Fenyx. I’m not sure if I’ll get any of them, but we’ll see.

The Doctor Who season 24 blu ray has been delayed a week which… well, it’s not a surprise. The collection blu rays are always delayed by varying degrees, hell this one has already been delayed a few weeks so… *shrugs* hopefully there’ll be a trailer soon for whatever the next one is.

The weather has been so annoying, because the warm is kinda frying my brain. It’s made it a bit hard to focus on reading anything, or working on fic. Which is annoying. It seems to be cloudy today so there might be rain so… hopefully that helps.

Anyway, gonna catch upon June something stuff now, then may fic some.

***

Day 8: Crack!fic - We all know it. What's your opinion of it, and if you want, show us an example.

When I think think of crack fic my mind goes to the really strange stuff, like when people are turned into things or something bizarre like that. The first one that comes to mind is the one from the first ep of Awsten’s podcast, where him and Geoff are trees and… tree sexy time ensues.

I dunno, I don’t really have much of an opinion on them. If people are creative and happy then that’s good enough for me.

Day 9: Drop the cast of a fandom you follow into a reality tv show - who/what/why?  If you need a list of reality TV show examples, click here.

Honestly, I’m not big on reality tv shows. The first one that comes to mind is Big Brother, and.. well, that could probably be fun, either with a bunch of bands or The Umbrella Academy. The thing is with the latter that Five would just leave at the first opportunity using his powers (even if just to get coffee).

Day 10: Drop your OTP or small ensemble from the fandom they're in into another fandom - how do they do?

I’d like to see the Ways getting involved in something geeky, because they’re such nerds I could easily picture them dropped into Marvel/Star Wars/etc. And there’s just something special about Gerard being dropped in the worlds he created, with the Killjoys or The Umbrella Academy.

I can see The Umbrella Academy’s time travelling thing going wrong (again) and them ending up in some other world or timeline, I can easily see them ending up in the Marvel or Killjoys universe or something like that.

Day 11: What would make you leave a fandom, or prevent you from getting into it in the first place?

I’m incredibly stubborn. If I’m in a fandom I’m pretty much stuck there. (Just look at how I’ve been treated by band peeps and I’m still there.) I think it’d take something huge for me to leave something I’m in.

As for not getting into fandoms. I dunno. There’s some things or shows that don’t really interest me (like reality tv stuff) so I’d not get into those. And then there’s stuff like the hand maids tail, which just sounds so depressing I’m not sure how anyone can watch it (that’s the first thing that came to mind because I saw an ad for it the other night)

Saying that though I have kinda… abandoned things due to associations with people. Being screwed over by people killed my interest in Motionless In White and Hannibal. So…

Hopefully I can get back to doing the other June somethings on schedule.
shadowhive: (Goose Bell)
First off, good news! We just got back from walking the pup and first it seemed we were right, that the geese, like the swans had definitely lost their babies, as there was a pair on the shore without ones. But when we walked around the other little pool (taking a detour to avoid people) I spotted some geese. I went round to take a look and there they were, the pair of geese and their three babies! They have feathers showing now so they’re less fluffy but I’m still so happy to see them.

Anyway, yesterday was a pretty lazy day. We ended up watching Miss Congeniality because it was on tv and I forgot just how fun and funny it is. Later in the night was the other part of Download Reloaded but it was less memorable.

I went on ESO last night to do the Blackwood prologue quests and managed to do both, so I’m all set for when it goes live tomorrow on consoles (I thought it was today but got the dates mixed up).

I was gonna watch Batwoman, but Waterparks did a post show stream and Otto was there so I watched that. It’s funny how Otto seems to lack tech skills (and Geoff decided to lay on the bed briefly). And it’s funny how Awsten keeps invading Otto’s bed.

I put on the next penumbra this morning which seems like it’ll be pretty good and there was also the new Lego explorers that included a lil skull which is cute.

Gonna watch Professor Cox’s thing from last night, then may try and read some. And maybe work on the first season of kink story.

The finale of DS9 is on tonight and they’re playing both parts which is something I wish I’d known Friday cause I’d have held off on watching the first but ah well.

Anyway, June something!

Day 7: What's the longest time you've been in a fandom. Not necessarily your oldest fandom, but a fandom that you started and still continue to read/write/create content for in some way.

I’ll divide this into two parts.

The longest I’ve been in a fandom I’ve been active in creating in is MCR/bandom, though as I’ve mentioned previously it’s definitely become more of a love thing now and I’m more still there out of a mix of stubbornness and spite.

However I have been in some fandoms a lot longer. There’s a bunch of fandoms I’ve been in and a. Still part of, just not in the sense of creating stuff for them. Those are Star Trek, Star Wars, The Legend Of Zelda and Mario. I’m not sure exactly on the when I got into them (although Star Wars was around the special editions), but they were all roughly the same time and have been such a constant since then.

With Zelda and Star Wars they’re the only fandoms that I’ve (currently) got ink for and I could easily have more ink for both if I had more money. I might have to when the pandemic is over, if it ever is.
shadowhive: (CC Smile)
Today turned out to be a lazy day as I expected, though I did end up watching two films (we finished season 7 of Castle but I dozed off during it).

First was Raya And The Last Dragon, which I went in pretty much blind. I knew it was about the last dragon and I’d seen the Lego sets about it, which made me think it was based around a palace (which it’s not). So it was actually pretty good. I want a tuk tuk, they’re so cute. And is anyone get vibes for a Raya and that sword wielding princess? (And one of the last scenes made me think of the end of the first Guardians film)

After Castle, and as I mentioned dozing, we put on the next Potter film which is Order Of The Phoenix. It made me wonder, does anyone actually like Umbridge? I mean for pretty much everything, there’s people that like the villains, but I just don’t see anyone liking her. I think it’s to do with the fact that most villains are… well unrealistic. I mean that in the sense that we’re not going to have any experience with dark wizards or supervillains, but someone like Umbridge? I think we’ve all known someone like that and I think that’s what makes her scary.

Last night there was also Download Reloaded on Sky Arts which was good to watch. It was nice to see Linkin apart and I’m glad they played two songs from the set. What was most impressive to me from all the performances was the drummer of Parkway Drive, because his drum kit was in something like a hamster wheel. At first it just went from side to side but over the set it went all the way around which was impressive. There’s a second part tonight and I’m curious.

And the funny part? When I watched mum said ‘is this Coldplay?’ About Linkin park

Why are usb chargers so useless? There’s another one that seemed to be great and last night it went funny and.. ugh.

I did mean to watch or game something spooky, but I just went so… ugh. My eyes ached again and I’m not sure if it’s a side effect or because of the weather being so warm and ugh. But yeah I ended up just laying in the dark for a bit.

It’s been grey and wet this morning which is nice. Mum thought about me making cupcakes from a kit I got, but when I read the instructions it needed more fridge space than we have so that’ll be next week. It’s cause it’s a science kit, with these jelly balls on the top (it’s one of These)

And now onto the June something

Day 6: What's a fandom that you wish had a bigger following?

I do wish the welsh bands had a bigger following, but unfortunately they never seemed to and most have fragmented. I think Bullet For My Valentine is the only one still definitely active and even they have lost two members (including my boy Jay). As mentioned before I think almost all fic for Bullet and Jay exists because of me and… that’s sad,

I wish Set It Off had a bigger fandom ficwise, because there’s hardly anything there which is a shame. I wish there was more Good Charlotte fic too but then they seem to be inactive. I wish there was more stuff with Claudio from Coheed And Cambria too, because curls.

My post awhile back includes other pretty boys I’d like to see content for though I’m sure I missed someone.

While The Used has a lot of content in the tag, most is just Bert/Gerard stuff and I feel there should be more content with the band internally (because Bert has kissed them all so why isn’t there stuff with that).

I’m sure there’s something else too that my mind is just…. Blanking. I think there’s probably stuff I watch that I’d like to find more people interested in (even not just fic wise) but I honestly can’t think of what.
shadowhive: (Maxx Pretty)
So I wasn’t sure what to do for song Saturday, I considered doing Fightstar (since I found a Deathcar uncut vid) but instead I’m doing a double of Set It Off and Waterparks cause they both did things yesterday.

First is Set It Off’s Killer In The Mirror which I first watched awhile ago. It’s a bit strange, with a group of people drowning Cody in a pool and then him coming back, with the rest of the band, to exact revenge. Midnight era Cody is hot, because of the blue hair (and the smirk at the end) and wet Maxx is also Unf.

Violet! Is the latest Waterparks vid and it has its strange moments too. In some ways it follows the theme of the song (someone stalking Awsten) but it has it’s own strangeness too. Like a chameleon for some reason, or Geoff laying down surrounded by glasses, or Awsten in an ice bath.

I guess you could link the two vids as the first has wet Maxx which Violet! has wet Awsten.

****

Last night was the Waterparks gig and I managed to stay up for it, though I did start to feel tired during it and it was pretty good. Otto looked so cute playing drums and all smiley and I liked the lights changing the places colours.

Annoyingly though there was some issues at the start with buffering. I intended to watch the stream via the Xbox so I could watch on the tv but… nope. The first three songs were always buffering in places and I’m not sure why (from the chat it seems others had the issue). I ended up watching the rest of the show on the pad, which oddly, played perfectly fine. I’m gonna watch the songs I missed some other time but I’m not sure when,

They played the whole album and I wondered if they’d play anything else during an encore but nope. Still it was fun, despite the issues.

Today’s gonna be a lazy day (after we walk the pup early, which is why some of this post is short) and I’m gonna watch the latest Bad Batch and Raya And The Last Dragon. And the Download thing that’s on tv tonight, I hope there’s someone good on it.

I need to decide what to fill the last icon I have on here with. I have some ideas and will need to, annoyingly, go on the pad to make them. I also might work on the season of kink fic I started last night.

**

Day 5: Compare and/or contrast your very first fandom obsession and your very latest fandom obsession.

I’m gonna go with the first and last fandoms I wrote for, for this.

The first fandom I wrote for was the British boyband Blue. I mentioned in a song Saturday awhile back with them, but I’m pretty sure most people outside the uk have no idea who they are, but they were very important to me. They were both part of me realising I was Not Straight (thanks Duncan and Lee) and the first band that I ever wrote for (and stumbled on fic for). Yep they were the first fic I read as well as wrote, which are still up on nifty.org. (Which are hot and some I’ve read a fair few times)

The latest one is Waterparks, which I’ve kinda stumbled into very later (how had I not got into these guys sooner? Like Set It Off it’s a mystery). And they’re so pretty and 🖤 I’m excited to be seeing them live soon (hopefully) and the new album is so awesome (go listen on Spotify if you’ve not). I dunno how long this fixation will last but hopefully for a long while yet
shadowhive: (Awsten Slutty tongue)
Day 4: What are the origins of your penname/username?

This goes back in the LJ days and it was my first real username. It asked me for a username and I wasn’t sure what to put, but for some reason shadow hive came to mind and it just… stuck. Im not sure on the shadow part, but the hive part is from Resident Evil.

In the first live action Resident Evil film there is an underground research facility, called the Hive. It’s under Racoon City and it’s here that research into the t-virus is going on (why research it there, when Umbrella Corporation is shown to have more remote facilities is… baffling). The virus escapes, everyone dies and… then the film happens.

I still think the first two are the best of the films and that the last one, as I recall, is a bit of a mess trying to put in links that weren’t there.

But I digress!

I kinda wish I’d switched to something else after all the issues but never could, not really, the closest is spookyhive on twitter which came about during a Halloween season.

***

Last night was pretty uneventful, though my eyes were achy again and I went to sleep pretty early.

This morning I watched a Talk It Off Podcast, the latest one (i still need to watch the others) which was pretty fun, though it was funny that the video corrupted at some point and it got choppy. At the side of the youtube video there was a link to merch bar and because it was in £’s I assumed it was uk based, so I went to get a Set It Off tee on sale… and the shopping was more than the tee. Ugh.

There’s also this waterparks tee which I really want but ugh, the shipping. I’m trying to find it on a uk site but can’t seem to and it’s annoying, but then it does seem to be an older one.

When we walked the pup it seems the geese babies are all gone now which is so sad, but also what the hell happened to them? I get the sinking feeling it’s because of people and I hate them.

After the Lego reveal yesterday two sets are up for preorder on the Lego site, and I really want the Mandalorian fighter. I might get it for my birthday,

I just real a Thirteen Storeys chapter, which had a nice link to the last one and it reminded me of a horror film, (I think it’s called Drag Me To Hell?) because it seemed similar in some ways. I didn’t like the main character all that much, much like the character in that film

I might try and fic later if I get an idea and then game before there’s the Waterparks gig tonight.

Speaking of I watched a thing on YouTube the other night and it seems so fitting for the fic Im working on because it shows them at the side of the stage watching Set It Off and there was a bit with them together. It just seems perfect.

Midnight The Final Chapter is up on Spotify now too, so I might give that a listen tonight since there’s a listening party planned. I’m not sure if there’s a disc release of it though which is a shame.

E3 starts next week and I’m excite, especially for the Xbox and nintendo stuff.
shadowhive: (Jay's Lizard tattoo)
Last night was strange. I was sitting, watching Maxx’s podcast and deciding what to put on the Xbox and suddenly the power went out. I thought for a moment it was the fuses, they’ve done it before late and night, but when I looked out the window I noticed it was dark. And yeah, I know it was night time (around midnight) so it’s supposed to be dark but this was different because the streetlights were out too.

So I go outside and walk to the road and the streetlights are out in either direction, but to the left I can see some are on. So it was a localised power cut. I went back home and after a few the power came back… and then it went off again. This time it didn’t last as long but yeah, still strange and annoying.

I did manage to finish the ESO dark heart of Skyrim epilogue quests, so got two rare achievements on exbox for it. I’m glad I got to see the hot vamp Fennorian again and I hope he shows up again sometime (probably not for awhile though, but I know he’s popular so…)

Jay did do a post on twitter again, so band stuff is coming so ahhh! Though it’s strange Moose commented on it. I hope we get to hear it soon and see who he’s with.

Palaye are doing a tour next year, but annoyingly they’re missing here… and oddly two dates on the main poster seem scratched off which seems odd. Was there supposed to be a Birmingham date and it got screwed last minute?

This morning was lazy and we didn’t watch potter today cause tiredness but ah well. There was, finally, pics of the new lego Star Wars sets which pretty much match the rumours. The Ahsoka vs Maul set looks smaller than I expected, though I’ll likely get cause it’ll be cheap. I really love the Mandalorian fighter (I missed the one done ages ago). The others seem a bit odd, mostly due to figure placements (Greef the only named character with the imperial transport? Only two figures with Slave I) but I’m curious for more info/pics.

Now onto June Something!

Day 3: What's a favorite, or at least memorable fandom meeting/interaction that you've had?

As I’ve mentioned I’m not terribly social when it comes to fandom stuff. so this’ll have to be about the few times I have been.

I guess band wise the most memorable meetings were with The Blackout, because I got to see them so many times that they recognised me. They were all nice guys and were always friendly.

I’ve not been to many cons but two come to mind. The first was Star Trek one that a friend got me a ticket for. I wasn’t expecting to go because it was done London, but it was around my birthday so was nice. I wish I’d spent more time there but didn’t which was a shame, plus I didn’t see any of the panels which I wish I did. I did get three autographs and the most memorable was with Nana Visitor (Kira from DS9 and she was so nice and friendly. I had a pic with her, but it mustn’t have saved which was so annoying. I still remember how she said ‘how nice’ when I told her a friend got me the ticket.

The second was to Star Wars Celebration when it was last down in London. This time I was staying down there and had a weekend ticket so I could fully experience it. (Though annoyingly on the second day I lost my pass so couldn’t go to the third, I was promised a replacement as a keepsake but it never arrived.) I was able to go around the place, seeing the lil Rogue One exhibit they had and I got mum an Ewok basket and I was lucky enough to get into the shop to get lots cat plushies (one of those and a white one)

I got to go to some cool panels, the best being a Boba Fett one, Ahsoka one and one where they showed off some of the creature and droid props. The best one was probably the Star Wars Rebels one, because it showed not just a trailer for the new series but also the first episodes! Which was so cool! I also got to meet my first Star Wars actor, Daniel Logan, who played young Boba Fett and he was so nice and friendly. I do wish I’d got to meet others but money was lacking which was a shame.

I also got to have a go on the new Battlefront game and there was an Old Republic thing in a local bar after which had freebies, as well as free boozes which was nice.

I found out later that on the third day one question I submitted to twitter was asked to someone (Ray a park who played Mail) and that was pretty cool too.

So yeah, I’d love to go to Celebration again with a load of money to get stuff (and go to Galaxy’s Edge with the same),

Yesterday ended up being pretty tiring, first because it was sunny and we took Naryu a longer walk to see the horses and, ugh, the heat. Then the food shop came, but not till late so that was…ugh,

I read another Thirteen Storeys which was good though the climax seemed a bit.. I dunno. But it definitely feels like it’s all interconnected and building to something. Which is to be expected when all the story’s are in the same place and it is, of course, building to something.

I dunno if that makes any sense at all though.

DS9’s final chapter continued last night and ugh, I’d forgot how good it all was. And how so many secondary characters were given real spotlights, like they’re given as much time in some eps as the main ones are.

Last night we ended up having one of the little bottles of cider and it ended up getting to me a bit so I didn’t stay up long. Plus a Geoff from Waterparks did a stream so I watched that (and aww he’s such a geek and [personal profile] skinwalker was sweet and got me a sub)

Today mums friend came and I had to go to town to put money on mums account. I ended up going into a few places too, including B and M, though it seems I left one of the things I got behind (one of the Lego blind bags) which is annoying. The one I got was nice though, a Jaguar warrior with a fancy shield. I got a few other random bits too..l including some of those calico critters blind bags cause they were so cute, and one has a tiny violin while another is a lil poodle called Milo 🖤

I almost went into McDonald’s to get the Pokemon stuff in the happy meal but ugh… it looked too busy and I’d have felt awkward.

But ugh it was far too warm, ugh.

Anyway, today’s June something before I snuggle

Day 2: You've got your OTP, you have to throw a third into the mix (from the same fandom), creating an OT3. Who is the OTP, and in your opinion, why would they make a perfect third for them?  Bonus question: What about adding a third to your OTP from a different fandom?  Who and why?

I wonder how many can guess what the OTP is before they look up under the cut

It definitely feels like summer now, it’s gonna really sunny and warm which is… odd after the recent greyness. It didn’t help when I had to go to Home Bargains yesterday, mostly looking for food for the cats… which they didn’t have, but I ended up getting a few other things and it was heavy and one of the bags I’d picked up had a bad handle so… ugh. I did get a lil Lego set, not the one I hoped to pick up, it was a Lego movie 2 set that was real cheap. The banana guy in it is the best part. Maybe I should watch it again, I’ve only seen it once.

After that we mostly just watched Castle in the afternoon and then I dozed. I wanted to read but… was just so tired.

I did do another arc on Valhalla this weekend and finally dealt with Fulke, but now Sigurd seems… even madder than he was before. Which, ok is understandable but still. I did mean to do more things for the may gamerscore thing but Valhalla took focus oops. The goal the next few days is to do some ESO stuff before the expaion comes next week.

I did have a book from Amazon come Sunday (and one Saturday) and it’s an lgbt one called Not Quite Out… but when it came the package was already ripped open the whole length. The book was fine but still…

The warm has meant I’m awake early and can’t settle which is annoying. I might put on a podcast or something though after this. We’ll see.

So it’s the start of the June something that [personal profile] squidgiepdx does and he’s the first one. I admit I worked on most of it the other day and it’s kinda rambly

Day 1: What's changed about your fandom life in the last 365 days?
