So usually when I do the happy stuff posts I put the happy stuff first and everything else second but this time I’m inverting it.

So since the last post we managed to watch Saw III, yay! It’s the last of the films that I could remember clearly so it’ll be interesting seeing the rest going forward since I can only remember the vague plot points.

A few thoughts under a cut.

Cut over now onto other things.

Mum is now itching to go outside somewhere, which is just a bit much because she still can’t take Naryu far on walks. We’re gonna go with mum’s friend to town next week (so at least she drives us there and back so we don’t have to worry about that) and then if that goes well mum wants to go to Birmingham. Again, I think it’s a bit much (it’s a walk to the station then around the city) so I don’t think she’ll be up to doing it as soon as she thinks. I guess we’ll see.

Yesterday was the new Fortnite season, which is a bit of a strange one. The build up to the end of the last one was to do with an eclipse, then the preview info indicated heists. The result is that the new season has a focus on heists…. Only who are you stealing from? A vampire which feels so wild. Also the pass is gonna have Ahsoka soon which is cool (here’s hoping they finally add some kinda Star Wars music).

I’d been going back and forth on getting sone things lately (including stuff from the forbidden planet graphic novel sale and gig tickets) but I’ve just been so incisive I’ve not ended up getting anything. The good side of that is that I had money in so I could get the build a bear Cinnamoroll plush cause he came back in stock yesterday! He just looks so cute!

I was gonna try and get a magazine that James Marriott was in, but I had various issues and missed out (there was on 50 physical copies which seems far too few) I considered getting just the poster they did of him,but then they’re saying they might do a restock of the magazine so 🤞

Last night there was the game night on Ria’s server and I’m glad I did it because it was pretty fun with a bunch of jackbox games! Even though my art skills was lacking and jackbox disconnected me one game bizarrely. I hope they’ll be able to do some more!

Then as watched the new Ghost Files which was pretty good. A highlight was thatRyan looked like this throughout the studio scenes, like why is aphis shirt open like that?👀👀 Alas thoughI did sone out a bit towards the end which was annoying, so I’ll have to watch the last few minutes.

Since I figured I’d have no focus for a game I put on Blau’s stream and then zoned out of that too, ending up drifting off on the sofa and waking up three hours later. I went to bed, hoping I’d just be able to sleep easily but alas no. Instead I watched Blau’s stream some more (which was fun, he had a pirate accent and flashed his nipple) and then I ended up ficcing until I finally drifted off.

Today’s been a bit of an odd day. My tummy felt unsettled (though thankfully only lasted until I came downstairs) and it’s just been all dark clouds and trying to rain on and off. I hope we get a storm later.

I dunno what my plans are the rest of the day. I wanna work on fic more and Imight see what Detective Cases is like on Drama, and then I might game some or disc switch to Resident Evil. (Or just watch a Bobs Burgers like I’ve done the last few nights).

I do wanna get back to doing song Saturdays again,so I might start that again next week if I have good songs. (And also I wanna do an updated ‘so you wanna write me a fic post’ too.)

***

So I mentioned at the title of this that it could be 6.5. If anyone remembers post 6, it was boys in maid dresses. I found out yesterday that Rubius did a maid dress stream dressed as Link and I saw pics and they broke my brain so I’m posting them here (I just know I’ll fic him in it)

So it’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these, despite having a few in mind. However, like with so many things, I keep getting distracted or losing the thread. However this one is easier and more timely.

I don’t often go on Facebook but I did a few days ago and I’m glad I did, because it shown a memory from six years ago, the memory of a certain cute fuzzy creature.

Because six years ago is when we got Leia. (Fuzzy pictures ahoy)

Other things.

I’m feeling better physically, so whatever it was is gone. The loose tooth didn’t came out and it seems to be stable now, wiphich I didn’t even know was thing.

I’d have gone to see the Haunted Mansion if I hadn’t been recovering, because the local cinema was showing it. Oddly after just one week it’s gone from two showings to one…. And of course that one is a later one. Maybe they’ll add an additional showing next week (I’m still surprised they have Elemental showing).

I managed to watch both Pokémon series streams which were pretty fun, though it was sold that Team Rocket were hardly in them. The last eps of the second stream was full of nostalgia, with a trip back to aka to and seeing Brock, Misty, Psyduck and Bulbasaur! And they even got the singing jigglypuff too! Damn the nostalgia was strong.

My head’s been kinda been fuzzy the past few days which is annoying. It’s a feeling I can’t quite explain but wish I could. I know it’s depression related but…. Eh,

I did finish Little Hope over the past few nights though and I have mixed feelings about it. Yes it’s atmospheric and spooky throughout, but the flashbacks are bleak and then the ending just makes you wonder exactly what happened. (Though I did have a feeling there was some twist ending, I just didn’t think it would be that).
Also it’s dark, but the darkness seems to be easier to navigate than Man Of Medan was at least.

Next time is House Of Ashes though I don’t think I’ll do it for a week or two. I do wanna do Stray first, though I think I might do something else first. (I might do a level on Hi-Fi Rush because it’s bright and colourful, or try Immortality before it leaves game pass at the end of the month)

Tonight I might watch Babylon 5 The Road Home, but that depends how hazy my head is.

This coming week has a bunch of stuff happening. I wanna watch Saw III (I didn’t this week), there’s new Futurama, the food delivery, Gamescom and Ahsoka starting! Plus there’s games night on Friday before Dungeons and Dodongos Sunday. I hope my brain doesn’t get overwhelmed by everything,

(Is it possible to be whelmed? You can get overwhelmed and underwhelmed so surely there must be whelmed? Hmmm)

Anyway, I’m gonna watch todays Sherlock film, then maybe work on fic later but more likely get distracted by something.
shadowhive: (Farnsworth The box!)

So I’m gonna try and do a few more of these happy stuff posts (and finish June something) even though June is long gone and July is almost over (wtf??)

Todays is about Futurama, which came back (yay!) Monday!

So what is Futurama? Well for those that don’t know it’s an animated series created by Matt Groening (of The Simpsons fame) it follows the adventures of Philip J Fry and the crew of the planet Express, a delivery service in the 3000’s. Fry was a pizza delivery boy, who got cryogenically frozen in 1999 only to get awoken in the future. He’s united with his nearest ancestor who runs planet express (while also a scientist) and from there he and the crew go on adventures as they make deliveries.

It’s so funny and fun and I think it’s a shame that it’s been cancelled twice already and bought back, because the world is just so… I love it. And yeah part of that love comes from me loving sci-fi stuff in general, but it’s also one of those shows that always manages to be funny. (While it can also be serious surprisingly.)

When it was last cancelled I thought it was never gonna return, which was such a shame but then on Monday it came back! It’s on Hulu in America and Disney+ in the uk.

They’re streaming it in the style of The Mandalorian, which is to say there’s one episode up a week. The first ep did resume where the last one finished, but only lingered for a moment on it (which is good because my memory of it was hazy) and soon zipped away into its own story. Once I heard the professor say ‘good news everyone!’ I admit I internally squeed. It was fun and felt very timely with its references to streaming and overworked writers (especially so due to the strike)

I’m so looking forward to seeing where the series goes and who comes backL

It’s also making me wanna go back and watch some older eps too (I have ‘whalers on the moon’ in my head and there’s also one more ep I wanna see at least…

There was also another announcement for Futurama too!

Fry, Bender and Leela are in Fortnite! I had enough vbucks to get them so now I’m wondering around on there as Leela (hopefully the packs stay long enough for me to get the planet express ship).

One thing that surprised me though is that they all came with an alt skin of their Universe 1 selves which was so unexpected! Those outfits are from one of my fav eps, The Farnsworth Parabox (which is where much icon comes from!) where the professor ends up creating an alternate universe in a box which is so ridiculous but such an awesome ep. The outfits make me wanna rewatch it and I know I will one of the nights.

Now though I’m im gonna have noms, listen to the new James Marriott song and then who knows?
shadowhive: (Lothcat Cute)

So today there’s been a new trailer about Ahsoka, so I’ma gonna have a ramble about it.

Now people that know me well will know I have two main long-standing fandoms above all others: Star Wars and Zelda. (Doctor Who, Pokémon and Star Trek come a bit after them)

So when I first heard there was gonna be an Ahsoka series I was cautiously optimistic, because she’s a character I’d grown to love through The Clone Wars and Rebels. (Especially those lost eps of the Clone Wars that came out a few years back, because damn.)

Over time though I’ve had more mixed feelings. I think my main mixed thing is how… l strangely they treat the people that played the roles in animation. In some cases when people have made the transition to live action (Zeb in The Mandalorian, Cad Bane in Book aid Boba Fett) they’ve kept the original actors. Others (like the grand inquisitor in Obi-Wan) have had new people play them. The Ahsoka series is also a puzzling mix. Thrawn is the same actor, yet Hera, Sabine and Ahsoka are all p different people and…. I dunno it feels kinda... wrong?

Plus the idea of bringing Thrawn back basically feels a bit unnecessary and has just felt like an excuse to do Heir To The Empire (hell those words are even said in both the first trailer and this!).

People were saying a new thing was coming a few days ago. Indeed there was a reveal of a lego set from the show, which looks cool but can’t be the only one because it doesn’t have Ahsoka herself (I might get it for Christmas, we’ll see). Then today out of nowhere they dropped this trailer and, yeah, it’s made me excited for it.

Seeing the New Republic fleet, Hera’s speech before the holo Mon Mothma (and other senators?) and it just feels pretty cool. It all leaves a bunch of questions (Ahsoka was training Sabine??) and I’m curious to see what’s going to happen with it next month.

I mean look tat the Republic fleet!

I do hope that we see a few more characters as well. I know I’d most like to see Sinjir from the Aftermath novels (one character from those books has already jumped to live action) because he’s a great character and it would fit as he ended the books as one of Mon Mothma’s advisors (and he’ll it’d be nice for representation because he’s also gay!)

It has the potential to be really cool I just hope it does mess it up (or, like Andor, become just so fucking grim).

I do hope that we get a future Star Wars series that isn’t about the rise of the Empire, or the empire coming back or the Jedi because there’s so much more than either of those three things.

If you’ve read through to the end of this here have a picture of Foolish holding a kitten

So it’s July but I’m still gonna continue his cause time isn’t real nothing is real

So yeah I was meant to do long wordy posts for this over the last week or so but words just haven’t came because of various things so it’s another pic post. This time bought to you by the Murder Mystery stream because Foolish was in bunny ears (well technically hare ears but still).

(I also meant to do this last night but my net was acting up and I’m only doing it right now cause the bus I was gonna catch has been cancelled ugh)

These are a mix of caps I took (which are bad) and ones from this

Here’s a pic of what to expect, the rest is under the cut

So I’ve just come back from being out which was tiring (in part because we got more than expected, in part because the heat HAS RETURNED blah) but I figured I’d do another one of these posts (which is a smaller and different one that I expected but…

I don’t know why it’s a thing but for some reason streamers have a habit of having maid dress streams as sub goals. Unfortunately I’ve not seen one live (and James Marriott was meant to do one but hasn’t yet, come on James!) so as a result I’ve only seen pics and clips)

So if you wanna see cute boys in maid dresses you’ve come to the right place!

So I was intending to post about James Marriott’s new song on Saturday but then he didn’t post the video until late and I couldn’t watch. So I was going to watch and post this yesterday and then got majorly distracted so…

Again this feels very much like another case of love the song, the video not so much. And I do, I love the song so many. I listened to it a lot on Friday after it came out and it’s so good. The video is just a bit… I dunno. Maybe it’s the weird effects or not being able to see much of the band I dunno.

Having said that I’m glad we get a new James song and I’m excited for more, I hope he does another tour soon because he was so great at the Lovejoy show and I really think he could play a venue that size himself. (I mean everyone was singing along which is so so rare for a support act). And just ahhh!

(Hopefully I’ll have the big Generation Loss post I’m working on soon)

***

On Saturday I did what I was gonna do which is watch Temple Of Doom in the afternoon. The thing about Temple is I remember it being the weakest of the first Indy films and then I watch it and think that it’s a lot of fun. (Bar the dinner scene.) Plus, yeah, there’s shirtless and sweaty Indy which is nice to look at.

After that there was the Wholesome Games Direct which was full of cute games with animals and cuteness. Three stuck in my mind:
*Smushi Come Home: which has a cute lil mushroom adventuring and looks cute (and rides capybaras!) and it’s out now with a discount so I might pick it up
*I Am A Caterpillar: which is about a caterpillar that doesn’t want to turn into a butterfly which sounds like such an interesting premise
*Manitas Kitchen: which is about a t-Rex that wants to be a pizza chef which sounds so endearing

After that there was MCC pride and I watched Ranboo’s pov again. They were dressed as spider Gwen and said they’re gonna do at least a few more MCC’s which is good. They’re also back in Brighton which is a surprise because I figured they’d stay in the US awhile before coming back.

On Sunday I ended up watching The Mummy based on Ria’s suggestion (and it was on Amazon prime which I still have for awhile on student discount, though I need to contact them about keeping it). Anyway it’s such a fun film I love it so much and I’m glad I decided to watch again. Plus I love Evelyn she’s so awesome. I might watch the others if I still have prime (i remember liking the third one when I saw it despite thinking it was so stupid of them to recast her)

I also did some Zelda and I’m still not really doing much. I’ve mostly just been randomly adventuring and not getting far in any of the main stories or quests. I wanna get back to Hateno to finish the election quest line, which is my main goal with Zelda this week. We’ll see how that goes.

Yesterday was also the Xbox showcase and there were a lot of interesting looking games. The top three are easy though.

*Still Wakes The Deep looks basically like The Rig if it was a game. Ok not exactly, bits set on an oil rig, shrouded in mist and there’s something strange going on there. So yeah naturally I’m interested.
*Starfield: which looks amazing and I’m really hyped for it. Making your op own spaceship and exploring the stars looks so cool (though the lack of sentient aliens so far seems… odd but you do get a robot friend!) I’m glad it’s coming to game pass though
*Lastly there was Star Wars Outlaws which was a surprise addition in the first three trailers. It looks so cool and everything I hear about it sounds awesome! There’s gonna be a deeper look into it during the Ubisoft direct tonight but look at this cutie!

This is Nix the main characters lil friend! And I love them already look how cute they are!

Last night the thunderstorm rolled in and I thing it messed with my head because my head went achy and I went up to bed early again (bleh). I hoped it would clear some of this annoying heat but it seems not, which sucks because I can tell it’s gonna be overbearing and stifling if it keeps up.

This week I’m hoping to:
*Finish the last Who Ray stuff to finish the season
*Rewatch the first spider-verse movie (and maybe see the new one depending on weather and cinema)
*Read more Quest For Planet X
*Fic
*Watch the rest of The Empty Man
*Maybe start The Chant
*Finish The Hateno election quest

I am 80% sure I’ll get distracted and won’t be able to do them but… we’ll see.
shadowhive: (Awsten Rainbow boy)

Today’s entry for the June posts is a short impromptu one (well there could be another one earlier) but it has pretty boys in dresses sooo!

So a few days ago Awsten posted this pic on twitter.

So I thought ‘yay, maybe we’re finally getting the rest of the pics from the wedding dress shoot’ (those will be under the cut) because those pics turned over almost three months ago and there’s been no context. I thought they were for a photoshoot or video but there’s even nothing since.

Anyway! It turns out that no, these aren’t pics from the shoot because it turns out they went onstage in them and not only that but it seems these are different dresses than the original shoot so I’m even more ????

Anyway, further pics under the cut.

Other things (briefly):
*Got to level 200 on Fortnite just in time to finish the season woo!
*Did more Zelda, still not advanced in the story but found a tear with Ganondorf being kinda… (and stumbled on things I just noped out of)
*Mel is coming back in Doctor Who which…. feels like an odd choice (of the surviving Who companions that haven’t been in it properly shes… not the first I’d pick)
*Listened to Spirit Box Radio and got to the mid season finale last night and WHAT
*Gonna decide about the GL hoodie today (I meant to yesterday but got hazy)
*Summer Game Fest is tonight so maybe a post later if there’s enough good/interesting things
*I’m sure there’s another thing but I’ve instantly forgot because pretties
shadowhive: (Jay Call)

So in the last post I mentioned how I thought about making a ‘stuff that makes me happy’ post a song one but then I got distracted and hazy and so didn’t.

However I ended up deciding to make (a slightly late) one now.

So this is the new Kill The Lights song, Broken Bones.

It’s a good song, I like it (even though I’ve only heard it fully twice). They’d been teasing something the past week before it came out, doing a countdown on their insta and this was what came out when the days hit zero.

The video I’m not so much of a fan of (it seems to be a thing for bands to do eh music vids lately). And I think that’s mostly due to it being shot in black and white and the lighting not being too great. Having boxing as a theme seems to fit the song though and main boxer guy is kinda pretty (why does he make me think of Cellbit?). And I also liked when it shown the band performing the song it seemed to give everyone equal time and not just focus on the singer.

One reason I did this was because Jay shared a pic on his insta story and it just amuses me so much.

It’s a shot of the band and people that made the video and there’s Jay, being noticeably shorter than everyone else and I just think that’s so cute.

And I’m also glad he looks so happy in it. Longtime people here will know that Jay was Bullet For My Valentine’s bassist and I somehow developed a hyper fixation on him (I dunno why, maybe it’s cause he’s cute and smol but buff and his voice is so soft and adorable even though he’s a screamer). After four albums Jay left the band (or was kicked out? Things are kinda hazy about that and I still haven’t watched the recent ish interview he did) and then he vanished completely. I also kinda lost interest in Bullet with him being gone? (Ive not seen them live since and not really heard their stuff, although saying that Gravity is their best album)

Anyway awhile later Moose (the drummer) left Bullet too and started a new band called Kill The Lights. I didn’t really listen to them much or pay too much attention, until they I saw them post a vid introducing their new bass player (I dunno what happened to their old one). I watched on the offchance it might be Jay (though expecting it not to be) so I was so surprised and delighted to see that it was!

Of course I had to go and see them at their Birmingham gig, which ended up being at the tiniest venue (it was pretty much a stage set up under a pub) but it was so nice to see him onstage again, especially thinking I never would again. Plus I got to meet him after! And get a pic! Which was very much an ahhh moment! (And the support were great too)

Hopefully with this new stuff they’ll do another tour and I’ll get to go see them again, hopefully at a place that’s not so small and far out that I get lost on the way there and back.

Now though I’m gonna stay bundled, maybe do some gaming and some pondering. (And yay at least I did watch some of the Who ray special features for the time monster last night so there’s only a few bits left)
shadowhive: (c!Eret Take my hand)

I had meant to do a post yesterday for song Saturday too but I didn’t feel up to it so didn’t.

Instead the next June post is about this

So for June we’re gonna watch the Indiana Jones films before the new one comes out and we see it in the cinema. We’re watching it on Disney+ since the films have been added there now. I don’t own the films bar crystal skull alas. Usually we watch the films when they’re on tv, which they tend to do a run of at some point (and likely will before the new one comes out) so I’ve not felt the need to buy them.

(Although this is mostly about Raiders I do enjoy them all, even though Temple is obvious the weakest one at least it has Indiana shirtless and sweaty.)

So yeah today we watched Raiders. I kinda wanna get the new Lego set they did of the opening scene, because it looks so cool and has a bunch of features which is nice.

Anyway, watching Raiders today reminded me of a twitter thread I read once. It was around one of the times it was on tv and I can’t remember the exact post (of course because it was awhile back) but I do recall the basic gist of it.

If Indiana had stayed at the university the plot would have gone exactly the same way.

The nazi’s would have gotten ahold of the ark regardless of his involvement and when they did they would have taken it to that island, opened it and got their faces melted. Indiana’s presence didn’t prevent them getting ahold of it (despite the mayhem his presence caused) and even in the climax he’s tied up and unable to prevent it.

Arguably the only thing he contributed was getting the the ark locked up in a warehouse at the end (but even that might have happened regardless) and, of course, keeping Marion alive (since the nazi’s likely would have killed her without him(

I remember reading that thread and thinking it was such a wild thing to think about, that a film’s protagonist could just be removed from the situation entirely and the same thing would result.

Like I said I’m gonna watch the other films over the next weeks (probably alternating days on the weekends) but I just figured this was such a wild thing I had to share.

(And it’s also impressive that Harrison Ford did his own stunts and the scene of him just shooting the sword guy was his suggestion too [cause he was sick alas])

Minor edit: it’s also made me wonder if there is actual tombs with traps. It’s such a common trope it makes me wonder if there’s ever been an actual one.

I dunno what I’m gonna do with the rest of the night, I’m a bit tired but we’ll see,
shadowhive: (Lola Cute)

Banner from [personal profile] dreamersdare who came up with this.

So most of the posts I’m gonna do for this will be more focussed (especially the Generation Loss one you’re gonna get subjected to!) but this one is gonna be a bit more scattered because it’s about yesterday’s Birmingham trip.

I ended up leaving pretty early which was a tad annoying (though I was able to finish the Fall Guy’s event since I was awake early enough to try). Because of the strikes happening this week I was worried the trains might end up messed up, however the first one did turn up. I didn’t do too much on the journey (I took two magazines to read but read neither Oop)

Since the first train had came I had an hour to wander round Birmingham. That was spent heading to the Bullring, which is a shopping center here connected to the station. I’d hoped to get the night sushi cat plush I saw before the Lovejoy gig but alas it wasn’t there, I’ll have to eBay it (hmv did have it though but it was 25% more which… nope)

In HMV they were playing a song that I couldn’t place and it bugged me but in up the end I did! It was Bury The Light, which was a Song Saturday here. I only had a brief look around but I got two things I wanted to get, namely the new Sleep Token and the new Now That’s What They Call Eurovision Contest. The latter is especially good because it’s four discs withvarious songs over the years which is much like one of the Eurovision playlists I have. (Here is the track list)

Since there’s something about the duality of these things I took a pic

I then went in The Entertainer and I wasn’t gonna get anything but I got a Mirror Sulu funko (it was on offer though I almost didn’t) and at the till the Lego Mario blind boxes were reduced so I got one of those too. I opened it later and it’s actually the most boring one (boom boom) which is a shame. I should’ve got another because they’re still on offer (I still want the birdo and blooper ones). The blind boxes (formerly bags) are honestly the best Lego Mario things in the range, because most of the sets are boring or bland (bar the pirate ship which looks so cool) but the individual characters are well done.

Then I met up with my friend Vin and we got her caffeinated and chatter, before heading to somewhere to eat. We went to Zizzi’s at her suggestion but it was a bit of a way out (and I got a bit turned around because there’s been recent construction which threw me off) but it was nice! The pizza was big and nice and the chilli bread was nice too (though made me wish the drink was bigger) after more chatting (about things from gigs, the craziness of getting tickets and other personal things) we headed back to the station and parted ways.

(I feel I should get a sticker for not mentioning gen loss in a conversation)

I decided to wander around birmingham, though it was annoying because it had suddenly got warmer. I got some dog treats and a drink (blue raspberrie which is so nice) and headed to Forbidden Planet. I was mostly going there to see if theDead By Daylight comic had come in, but alas it was delayed. I wasn’t gonna get anything but I saw there were signed Star Wars books and, after debating, I got them and a Doctor Who graphic novel, as well as a unicorn funko (from Shazam which I’ve not seen but I love unicorns.

Here’s the stuff from there. The Star Wras Hunters book is one I didn’t even know was a thing because the game isn’t out yet (as far as I know but it does look fun).

After wandering around a bit more, but getting nothing else (though it was nice to see so many pride flags around already). I went back to the station. Annoyingly the first train just sailed right past so I was delayed but at least it wasn’t that bad.

I decided to read some of The Quest For Planet X on the way back and read two chapters. I’m so behind on high republic stuff which is a shame (especially as I have a book pile of them to read) but this is from phase 2 which is in another time period so I don’t feel quite as lost. It also helped that there was mention of something happening on Jedha (the planet from Rogue One which is apparent a big deal in these books) but as the main Jedi character doesn’t know what’s going on it’s good. I wanna get back to read more soon to find out more about what’s going on (and read the graphic novel I got last npmonth which has a hot Nautolan).

When I got home there was mail but just issues of the Star Wras encyclopaedia (I’ve considered unsubscribing but I’m close to the end) but also the Dork Lovejoy issue, which I’ll have to look at properly soon.

***

I was unfocused and tired after the trip (and a bit headachey which may be because of the heat, tiredness or glasses) so I didn’t do too much. I watched Voyager (which was the Omega Directive, one of the eps I really like) zoned out during Springwatch then watched the Taskmaster finale (the new group seem like they could be fun) before heading to bed (after dealing with mum being ridiculous)

Today I woke with a bad annoying headache which ugh. And it’s still been so warm still bleh. I have got my new glasses at last though so I hope that the worst of the headaches are now over.

Now I’m gonna rest a bit, do more fortnite then reply to various things.
