Again these past days have been low energy.
I did hope to see Sinners but I was too drained on Tuesday (causa the morning library stint) and yesterday (causa Andor) so I didn’t go. Thankfully it’s on there until next week though, but still at 7pm showings. I might see it Monday or Wednesday depending on energy.
Thunderbolts* has an afternoon showing on Saturday so I could in theory see that then instead. I guess it depends, since mums friend is coming and I fear her being her usual self.
Main thing these past days has been watching two very different shows.
First there was Andorand this weeks episodes were… a lot. This season has been building up to the Ghorman massacre and this week was when it happened. The whole thing was pretty horrific because of course it was, but it hit harder cause we’d spent the last few eps learning about these people and this place, so to see virtually all of them end up dead? It was pretty awful.
But then the following ep had Mon standing in front of the senate calling the the massacre what it was, a genocide, as well as how the narrative of the whole thing was manipulate and truth was lost. Someone posted the speech here.
Like it’s honestly scary how the whole thing is mirroring things happening right now and hoenstly those episodes gave me chills.
Then by contrast I finished The Residence. I watched two episodes Tuesday and would have watched the finale right after but I could feel my eyes going. I did watch it last night and just…
Honestly these two shows are gonna be some of my favs of the year and yet they couldn’t be more different.
The Residence kept me gripped not just cause of the central mystery but because of how utterly bonkers it could be. Like where else would you find Kylie finding a bloodstain? And honestly I love Cordelia so much and I’d love them to do something like this with her again (but honestly, at the same time, I’m not sure if they could top this)
(Possible spoiler thoughts under the cut thought I’ll try and keep things vague)
The last ep was obviously the reveal and… honestly I had no idea who it was going to turn out to be. But that was the point, you weren’t supposed to know, there were so many false leads, possible suspects and red herrings. Even certain things like the body being moved was one because it meant only someone with strength could do it… and even that turned out to be a red herring.
But honestly the whole thing was so well done. Huge props to the cast, because this was such an ensemble piece and everyone was perfect, as well as the set design cause that wasn’t have been easy to do all that. (And then for them to have lost the original AB part way through and deciding to recast)
But yeah if you’re looking for a good murder mystery, in a unique location then definitely check the Residence.
Tonight I’m hoping to finish Planet of Lana before it leaves game pass next week, then I wanna get my brain cell in gear to fic but I might just end up going to doze. Tomorrow is new Sleep Token, though my cd hasn’t even been sent yet and is listed as coming next week😒 and there’s also the second week of Star Wars fortnite (I’m already level 35 mostly in my drive to unlock Poe Dameron)
I end the post with a pic of Midna snugged under a blankie🖤🤍

Date: 2025-05-10 11:22 am (UTC)Why does everyone keep spelling it like that? I feel like I'm seeing that asterisk everywhere since people actually started seeing it. I haven't yet, and I feel like I'm missing context.
Andor sounds like such a good show. I wish Disney didn't suck/their subscription service wasn't so expensive. AND that they would put out the shows on standard DVD instead of just BluRay, because they have released them for home viewing in a few cases, but only on BluRay.

Date: 2025-05-10 11:36 am (UTC)It is! I definitely prefer season 2 over 1 though. I’ve only got it cause I’m leeching off someone else’s 😅 so I dunno pricing really. But yeah it’s annoying they do that! And not only that but they don’t release the stuff for ages after (case in point the Mandalorian season 2 was in 2020, the blu ray release? February of this year) and I don’t get why they’re released as Steelbook which makes them even more expensive and limited. It’s so annoying!
