So I’m back home after today’s trip.

I ended up leaving at 9:30 which felt early enough since most stores in Birmingham didn’t open up until 11. The train was really busy which surprised me. It was standing room only by the second stop which was crazy. (I just read some of the Doctor Who chronicles I had).

In Birmingham I went to the Forbidden Planet by the station. Mum hoped they’d have the Hei Hei bag she’s been wanting (so I could get pics for her) but alas no. They did have some Star Wars graphic novels on offer and I got 3 - Star Wars Quests Of The Force, Bounty Hunters - Bedlam On Bestine and Obi-Wan - A Jedi’s Pirpose. They all sound pretty good (even though I’ve not read any of the other bounty hunters or recent Star Wars issues) and quite a bargain for under £10 (they’re usually more than that each).

Then I went to the entertainer which was my main stop and I built the little bantha there! He’s so cute but you’ll see him later. I also got to see one smart play set in action, more on that later.

I went in hmv just to look around. I completely forgot if there was anything to look for. I also went in m and s and got mroe red velvet hot cross buns (oop).

I went in the Lego store to check out the new sets and they had smart play stuff (again more on that later). They also had the Pokémon sets on display. My fav is still the Eevee, the big set is impressive but over £500 is crazy.

I had a quick wander around, though Primark, Smiths and cex were a bust. (Again where are the Stranger Things stickers?) from the other Forbidden Planet I got some comics, 2 exquisite Corpses issues (Ineed to read the ones I got when I went to the hospital oop), the new Smile comic and two black series sets: master Vernestra from The Acolyte and Dagan Gera and a cool BX droid from Jedi Survivor (just look at them!). (Which I need to go back on sometime I got distracted from it. I’ve not even seen him yet in game but he’s hot and his fit is cool.

Tk I got another Christie book but almost didn’t cause it’s Seven Dials, one of the ones I’ve read but the cover is cool.

I did go back to Lego before getting the train and it’s here I’m gonna say my thoughts on the smart brick.

I mostly saw interaction with two things, the X-Wing and Vader’s TIE. I did like the enguine sounds they made and the blaster fire when you pressed the button/switch (respectively) and the R2 noise was cool. The downside is, of course, the ‘voices’ for Luke which sounded terrible and robotic. I alway wish we’d got to hear other things, Lego had the throne room duel and the turret from the fighters, but didn’t show how the brick sounded when interacting them. I guess we’ll see when reviewers do it. (I still say the cantina set looks pretty nice.)

So it does seem the brick is much better for effects then anything else. But it is an expensive gimmick and the buttons/switches/tiles are all quite garish in bright red. The main issue is the price. The smart brick x-wing has a lot of stuff to it, but it’s still £20 more than the new republic x-wing from the mandalorian and Grogu which looks cooler and more complete. So yeah I’m waiting on reviews to have the full other sounds, but I’m not gonna get smart play stuff unless there’s a discount.

I was all peopled out so decided to come home instead of seeing Hoppers (it was also cause of the train and showing times being pretty bad). It’s no bother really I know they’ll be plenty of time to see it. So I just read some Heated Rivalry, then nommed sushi when I got home and watched traitors ireland.

Tonight I’m gonna watch the pottery throw down, mock the week and then… I dunno. I guess it depends on mood and tiredness. (Maybe fic or something)

But I end on this!

The bantha is such a cute lil guy!

And speaking of lil guys…
