So despite feeling incredibly rough these past few days, there have been some good things so here’s some of them.
First there was a Pokémon presents thing last Tuesday and, I can’t remember too much of specifics about it now alas. There was some new stuff on the Scarlet and violet dlc and, while both the new areas look pretty interesting, I’m not fully sold on getting it yet (mainly price wise). There’s new versions of the legendary dogs, although these look more like dinosaurs, though enter hasn’t been revealed so there’s all kinds of memery about what his will look like. There has been another short trailer yesterday which revealed all the starters are back too which makes the whole thing even more tempting.
Plus there was a code put out so everyone with Scarlet and Violet can get Mew! Mew is one of my favs they’re so cute! And every one is different apparently, with people getting all kinds of Tera types (mine was bug).
Also that day an event on Fortnite started for Jujutsu Kaisen, which is an anime that I’d not heard of but the synopsis sounds interesting. Has anyone seen it? I know there’s a thing for crunchyroll in game pass rewards so I might use it to see what it’s like.
On Wednesday I finished the first of Paternoster Gang audio box sets. I think that last one was the best of the set (despite leaving certain things unanswered) though all of the audios were strong, mostly thanks to Jenny, Strax and Vastra’s actors and their chemistry together. It’s such a shame we’ve not seen them on Who in awhile (and the audios makes me think how cheated we were not to get a series with them despite how people were clamouring for it at the time).
Also Who related, they announced on Friday there’s gonna be a fully animated version of The Underwater Menace coming in November. It looks pretty cool from the trailer and is sure to be better than the dvd release (as it was just telesnaps for half of it). I see the release of it as a good sign, because it’s bound to mean that they’re still gonna keep animating missing eps, which some people had speculated they weren’t gonna be doing any more.
This week I managed to start the Saw rewatch, watching Saw and Saw II with my friend which was nice! I’m glad we managed to find the time and sync up to do it (and my focus stayed good for them). We’re hoping to watch all the films before the new one so I hope so! (A few semi spoilers things on the first two under the cut)
Since it’s been a long time since I’ve seen the films my memory of them is vague, so it was good to do a rewatch (I know my mind is fuzzier on the later entries). Kudos to Tobin in the first one for spending the whole time lying on the floor like that.
I think of the first two the second is my fav, not only because the increase in scale, but the way the last 20ish minutes is edited in such a way that’s just…. Ahhhh! It’s so satisfying.
(And yeah I put this under a cut and yet I’m still being vague in case someone does wanna do a run, though I suspect anyone that would wanna see Saw has seen it by now)
According tho tv tropes the first two films also have in universe little things on the dvd discs which I don’t think I’ve seen, so I might try and watch them before watching 3.
We watched another of the Sherlock films on sky arts Saturday and I have to admit, my focus wasn’t fully there (I blame the utter lack of sleep). However there was something in it that struck me and that was when Sherlock and Moriarty (who was, of course, working for the nazis) were talking about how the latter was going to dispatch the former and gas chamber was mentioned and it just… sent a chill.
We also watched a Poirot and I had a vague idea who did it based on the Agatha Christie documentary we watched awhile back. It turned out I was right in my recollection, so woo memory!
There was a Lovejoy gig shown on Amazon music that night and, thankfully, it was early enough and I had the focus to watch. It surprised me how long it was (about 45 minutes!) because it was a festival set. Wilbur looked pretty and slutty with his shirt open, then took his shoes off (which one of the cameras focussed on his socked feet a few times) and Mark did the drumstick twirling thing that I just love.
Sunday I was feeling well enough for Dungeons And Dodongos which I was so worried I’d miss. My character, Ahno, a zora), had one definite mission to do today: get something to make Forte, our parties other Zora, smile after some nonsense back home last time, so Ahno was able to get him a bunch of frog choir merch (because he didn’t know what he’d like best so just decided to get one of everything) and it was worth it because he smiled and gave him a big hug which 💜. And then the session ended with combat, which has been our first one in awhile so I was able to do some cool lightning thing (it didn’t fully hit but still did damage) and there’s still gonna be more to go next time, oop.
Plans for this week are very much dependant on how my health holds up but these are some things I wanna do.
*Get back on Little Hope
*Start Stray
*Saw III
*Fortnite event stuff
*Either DND or the new Babylon 5 animation
I could add more but I think those things are enough to be reasonably doable.

Date: 2023-08-14 08:03 pm (UTC)I've only seen the first two Saw films but I've been wanting to watch the whole series for some time now. Hopefully the new one is motivation enough to get on that, finally!
Druids get such cool spells. Call Lightning kicks ass.

Date: 2023-08-15 06:31 pm (UTC)I don’t remember too much about it, but I’m glad it’s being redone so we can, hopefully, see it in its glory!
Hopefully it means there’ll be further animations as well (the wheel in space is one that’s often been rumoured but has never appeared yet)
