[sticky entry] Sticky: Fic Masterpost

This is my Masterpost for my fic here on dreamwidth. Most of my stuff now is posted here (though I sometimes also post on ao3 or Rockfic). For my lj stuff, here is a list that probably needs majorly updating.

My Ao3 is here

So there it is, stuff with a 🔒 is stuff that’s friends list only and likely won’t be reopened, but, going forward, not much will be like that. My older stuff is still locked as well, but that might just be temporary.

[sticky entry] Sticky: Snowflake challenge 2024 - Day 1

Challenge #1

In your own space, update your fandom information. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

So it’s time for snowflake again already which seems strange because last year feels like not long ago (and also forever ago at the same time?). So happy new year snowflake people!

This post is now gonna be the new sticky post replacing the one from two years ago (why didn’t I replace it last year? Who knows!)

I’m Stuie, I’m 37 (which is very much what the fuck) and I live in the Uk. Currently I’m a student with the Open University, studying Renewable Energy which should be the last course of my degree (probably won’t be I don’t feel I’m doing well). I have anxiety and depression and probably other things, but we’ll see if I’m able to get better diagnosis and meds this year.

Anyway! Fandom things. I love Star Wars, The Legend Of Zelda and Doctor Who. The latter of which I post about whenever I watch episodes (be it new eps on tv or whenever I watch the collection boxsets, which are awesome).

I also game a lot, currently I’m working on Super Mario Wonder, Tears Of The Kingdom and I’ve recently started Jedi Survivor and Baldur’s Gate 3. Though I also play a bunch of other stuff too, Dead By Daylight, Dreamlight Valley, Elder Scrolls and a bunch of pad games (including Star Trek Timelines, Hello Kitty Island Adventure, Cats Are Cute and Pokémon Masters).

However one thing I’ve ended up getting into are watching streamers. I watch QSMP streamers from time to time but I also often watch James Marriott (and his drummer Jago), Seapeekay, Shoto and a bunch of other generally unhinged and pretty streamer guys. (And I need to do an updated posted on them for people)

I used to like bandom stuff, though because of the various fandoms being awful it left a sour taste. I still like a variety of bands, currently that’s a mix of James Marriott, Set It Off, Sleep Token, Weathers, Lovejoy and Waterparks among others. And Atreyu, which is a rabbit hole I’ve very much fell down.

In general I post random nonsense, but I also do posts about Doctor Who and other things I watch (who is the main one I get into detail on though I wanna do more posts on other things).

I post fic, mostly on here, which mostly rpf nsfw (usually with streamers or bands) though I really need to get back to posting on ao3. I’ve kept meaning to but I’ve generally failed.

I’m very sure that I’ve missed something, but who knows.

Feel free to add me if any of that seems interesting, one thing I like about snowflake is making new connections so I hope to make some again this year. I try and be nice and friendly with people as best I can.

Hope you’re all having a nice new year.

I end with two pictures of my cat, because cats are cute (and she’s curled on my snoring now

[sticky entry] Sticky: 130 Fic table

Ok so one thing I wanted to do is to do a new fic table thing (based partly on [personal profile] carrythefire’s one. It was originally gonna be 30 but has somehow (especially tonight) ballooned to 80 oops.

My intent is not to start on it for awhile. I wanna finish my current main 5 fics and a few others (looking at you Slam Dunk fic and a few others so the first fic for this might not be till Febuary, but I want this to be a long term thing anyway.

Anywhere here it is (and damn the coding was a slog).

Cinema: Frankenstein, Shelby Oaks, Keeper, Predator Badlands

So this is a late one, oops. I blame things being stressful/distracting. Which is also why there’s some things here that aren’t done.

But yeah November ended up being stressful so I lacked focus to read or fic which was irritating. (And this month is similar).

But having said that I did manage to finish some shows! The new Futurama season, season 2 of Wednesday and vol 1 of Stranger Things season 5. The last two have given me so many thoughts and Futurama is always fun to watch.

I need to get back to the Doctor Who run of season 13, I still have Brain Of Morbius and Seeds Of Doom to watch, both of which I’m looking forward to. And I’m glad to finally watch the Sonic 3 blu ray and finally seeing It (and Thanksgiving too).

And, of course, Frankenstein was a cinema highlight (if you haven’t go see it! It son Netflix now) and I also loved Predator Badlands so many.

With Shudder I started the second season of Horror’s Greatest, though honestly I’m not a fan of animal attack stuff. I guess it’s cause I’m an animal love I just don’t vibe with it. Having said that I think the wildest one was something about worms attacking people that looked so wild cause ??

And speaking of roundups…

Month 5: November 20th - December 20th
3: Wake Up Dead Man, Zootropolis 2
10: Five Nights At Freddie’s 2, Pillion

Month 5 of the cinema pass has just been two trips, but back to doubling up with them. I think my order of them is Zootropolis 2, Five Nights At Freddie’s 2, Wake Up Dead Man and Pillion. Though they are pretty close. (And Wake Up is technically the better film, but I’m more likely to rewatch Freddie’s)

***

Last night I had hoped to do stuff, but after watching some things with mum and doing a little on ControlI ended up just getting absurdly tired. I think having mulled wine didn’t help, as it made my head a little hazy.

But right now I’m sat getting Midna cuddles which is good, then I can hopefully fic and do stuff later. (And it’s winterfest on Fortnite so hopefully the freebies this year are nice)

‘Why are you all insane?’

Once again this time of year has proven to be stressful and/or annoying.

We were due to go to the co-op on Saturday morning, because we had got a leaflet through the door with money off (£5 off £20, £6 off £30) though annoyingly it was only at the one that was by the station not up the road. Alas we had to go later than planned, cause we’d ordered a new tree stand and it came in the morning.

That does mean the tree is up, though it is bare currently (bar a Bulbasaur bauble I got from town) but at least it’s up.

We did go down to the co-op, closer to lunch than I hoped, and used one of the vouchers (we had to get cat food and stuff anyway so I figured may as well use it). We did get some party food to try but there wasn’t the selection I’d hoped for (and the seluction box wasn’t as tasty as I hoped) but at least they had the hash brown stars they had last year, hopefully they’re nice as I rememebr, and jalapeño things too.

Monday was a trip to pick up the last of mum’s present (a clothes order from sainsburys) but that was tiring as mum wanted some other things (and on the way back I ran into her and Naryu and knew she’d not walk with her unless I stayed with them). On the plus side I did get the new Stranger Things sticker album! If anyone sees the boxes for it (or multipack stickers) please let me know which store you see them in. The site that does the stickers sold out before the release which is crazy

Tuesday I was at the library cause mums friend had issues so had to leave early. It meant I did read but not as much as I hope (reviews in the new sfx, which finally arrived a few days ago and one chapter of Halloween Party).

Then in the night we had a call from her and, ugh more stress. She does a Christmas food order at M and S and we tack a few things onto her order, but apparently there’s been some issue and a lot of the stuff (including our stuff) is not coming. That means that stuff for we’d planned to have next week isn’t gonna be there which… it’s annoying but some of the stuff does feel pricey. On the plus side it means not being up at 6am on Christmas Eve to pick it up, but she’s offered to take us down Monday to try and get alternative stuff which… ugh. At least that’s in the afternoon.

But yeah that’s a stress we didn’t need and it got to mum (which this’ll got to me) and it didn’t help the call came through as we were sorting food.

And all of that has led to me being drained again.

But good things.

Aside from the aforementioned SFX magazine there was also a delivery of a silly Coelacanth plush I got preordered ages ago, which is both big and soft and ahh he has a cute silly face (if anyone has seen ditto faces stuff it’s like that). There was also the stranger things qwertee that I ordered and I’d also done a random tee, which was also Stranger things. Random tees are usually older ones but this was one of the others from the same day so it was an Eddie tee!

I got sent a Funko code with 20% and I spent the weekend debating back and forth on if I should use it. It is a big discount to have but the timing for it is so bad. I did cave though and I used it on some of the new stranger things stuff (including two exclusives that probably won’t come down). Alas they had no Will but no one seems to.

Saturday night was strictly and I’m so glad that George got through to the final! And Karen too, I hope one of them win.

I saw on the tv listings that The Batman was on so I finally decided to watch it. I’d heard good things about it and damn. Robert Pattinson was sold to me as Batman in the first few minutes. It was really good, I loved the detective vibes and making the riddler into a more serious threat actually worked really well. If it hard a flaw it was around the end, which felt a bit rushed and long at the same time (but maybe that could’ve been just tiredness).

Sunday night was the next War Between episodes. The first was the best of the two managing to nail tension in the descent down into the depths. But ughhhh. Mum caught that the globe could be a bomb before I did and I’d really hoped that it wouldn’t be. Alas it was and it just… ugh. It pissed me off seeing the aquakind and diplomatic delegation (who we’d got to know on the trip) get blown up.

It did lean to a good thing in the next ep with Tide appearing and calling humans insane for it, which is true. It is insane for us to blow up our own people, just like it’s insane for us to pollute the oceans and screw things up just for rich people to make profits.

Other than that the second ep did feel off, I think mostly due to Salt acting so different. Like yeah she is her own person and would be different when not playing the role of diplomat, but even so it did feel strange for her to suddenly abandon her people/cause to go on the run.

I also dunno how they can resolve everything in just one ep to go. It’s called ‘the end of the war’ so it must resolve things but the whole series has felt a misnomer (but in a good way I like that there’s actually been diplomacy as a solution rather than shooting first). I guess we’ll see. (The end credits did have a thing name checking The Underwater Menace which makes me wonder if we’ll see the remains of atlantis)

I also watched the recut Sea Devils too which was really good, unlike other recuts it didn’t feel like it lost anything (it still had the Clangers scene, the master and the doctor’s sword fight, the politicians being idiots) so it was a good choice.

Lastly, and less of a good thing I’m not seeing The Shining at the cinema. I wasn’t 100% on going in the first place but for some reason the afternoon showing for it got taken off (leaving only ones at night) so that, combined with money took off my will to go. So it looks like I won’t be going to the cinema again until the new year (for Anaconda, and maybe The Housemaid or something else).

Now though I’m gonna sort food, then hopefully poke my fic brain into writing (I had a burst the other night before sleeping) and maybe watch something.

The game awards (aka 3 hours of trailers with awards in between)

Last night was the game awards and, as always, it was more about upcoming games and trailers than the actual awards. It always bothers me that some of the awards are spedran, without even the chance for the winners to come onstage. (Plus it’s so long, it started 12:30 and lasted until about 4am here)

For those that didn’t see it here are a bunch of things that happened:

*Sleep Token played in the overview trailer!
*Hades II, Hollow Knight Silksong and Donkey Kong Bananza all ran one award each (Best Action game, best Action/adventure game and best family game)
*Clair Obscure Expedition 33 win pretty much everything they were up for
*The whole Clair Obscure team were there, all of them wearing Berets
*There was a warframe video, Werner Herzog voiced and was in it
*Miss Piggy was there and was hilarious, it was also heavily implied she and the presenter of the awards spent the night together and had sex
*She also did a song with Rolf (I think that’s his name) which name checked everything from kingdom hearts to discord
*Maggie Roberson (tall vampire lady from Resident Evil) did a skit about a survival training session which was so funny
*Her and Neil Newborn presented the best voice acting award and were so funny
*There was a cut sheep herding cgame
*There was a trailer for a game that featured a man getting burned alive in a wicker man type thing, while there was an orgy going on. This wasn’t warned for and was in the first hour of the show (it’s also by the studio that did Baldurs Gate III, it’s called Divinity)
*There’s a new Tomb Raider game, as well as a remake. The latter looks bonkers and features dinosaurs
*Theres not one but two Star Wars games! The first I suspected would be a franchise game cause of how the trailer was cut (long shots, not showing characters) but I suspected it was Star Wars cause of the hiss of smoke when the boarding ramp went down, then the lightsaber sound confirmed it
*the other one is Galactic racer and is a dancing game, like the podracer games but with other ships too. It looks so cool and has Sebulba coming back!
*Resident Evil Requiem revealled that Leon is coming back! (Which everyone guessed but it was nice to confirm)
*Evanesence performed the song they did for Devil May Cry (I need to watch it)
*A new Megaman game is coming, but not till 2027
*There was a clip from Street Fighter and the cast came onstage
*There was a cool game called Ontos by the people that made Soma (and the voice of Stellan Skarsgård)
*There was an awesome onstage announcement/trailer for a new control game and it’s so cool I’m glad I’m playing the first game.
*The Game Awards orchestra was so great, plus the flute guy kept changing is flute which was fun

I’m sure there was other stuff too that I’ve missed from it, cause there was a lot, but yeah. As you can see there was a lot of wild stuff.

I am a bit annoyed that the Hades II and Silksong devs didn’t get a chance to get onstage for their awards, they both deserved more love. (And honestly, it feels like a fluke that they didn’t but Expedition 33 was just… a powerhouse)

I am so hyped for the Star Wars games, especially racer and Resident Evil (I need to get back to 4). I’d say those three, Control Resonant, Ontos and Tomb Raider are the ones I’m most curious about, but I am kinda curious about a divinity. I mean that trailer was absolutely insane it was certainly memorable.

But ugh the whole thing was tiring and it has made me drained today.

Now to see if my brain will work on other things and then… I dunno. Maybe I’ll go on Control later

Don’t they have a silent mode?

Today has been a busy day but first.

As I mentioned in the last post the library stint yesterday was quiet and I mentioned to mum about getting the tree sorted. I was saying it in the sense of ‘we’ll do it Saturday’ but mum took it to mean ‘we’ll get it down yesterday’. Cue me lugging the thing down after the food shop came, opening the box and getting it out… only to find the stand for it is nowhere to be seen.

I think we’d boxed it last year, forgot to add the stand and it got put with other things but do I know where they are? Nope. So we have the tree box where it would go cause I didn’t have the energy to mess with it. (Mums genius idea? Sort it while food was cooking and obviously that went wrong)

Sigh.

Today started with sorting out an order for mum (the gingerbread Lego that’s meant to be for Xmas, but it’s on back order, but at least doing it now got a freebie) then mums friend came, ostensibly to bring Xmas stuff but of course she wanted stuff ordering too ugh.

Mail came today too, the new Stranger Things annual (which I got under half price!) which looks really good on my flick through! There was also God Is A Bullet, the blu ray with hot Garrett Wareing (which I was told to expect by Jan 22) so I hope it’s good (and works!). Then when I came back Doctor Who books were here (I got some 2 for £5 deals from zavvi, which are mostly hardbacks so oop sorry mum that you had to move them).

Today I went to town, the town part was pretty short. I looked in smiths for the new stranger things stickers but they’re not out yet, but I did get a Stranger Things thing from b and m (the box that I lost when I lost my bag the other month) but they didn’t have the snack pack or bag alas.

I went into Smyths but alas they didn’t have the stranger things funkos I was looking for (even Vecna which was listed on the site, but I guess he was on the high shelves hidden) but I did get the Lego happy plants though (look how cute!). I also got the Frankenstein art/making off book which was a real bargain from Asda (less than half off!). I had a little flick through and it looks beautiful.

None of the trailers were interesting so I will just jump right into the film talk. (Unlike the last film thoughts these will be more spoilery. So let’s get onto thoughts of Pillion and Five Nights At Freddy’s 2

That might be it for cinema adventures this month. I might see The Shining on one of it’s showings though but I’m not sure yet (it depends on mood, energy and weather) and I do wanna see Anaconda but that likely won’t be till early January cause it comes out just after Xmas.

Now though I’m gonna bundle up, watch stuff and might fic some.

Next days are low energy I might watch stuff (and the game awards is tomorrow) and I might go back to home bargains to get more Star Wars doorables (they’re so cute! And this set has some of my favs) but who knows if I’ll feel up to it. I also wanna make peanut butter booped cause I found recipes.

And there was something else but it’s gone out of my brain completely.

Your greatest desire is happening

The past days have, once again been stressful and, once again induced by mum deciding that, yep, what I need is her being difficult. Bleh. But this post isn’t gonna be about that.

This weekend I ended up starting a game called Control. It’s by the people that made Alan Wake and I got it forever ago when it was on a sale but I just never started it. I had me heard that a console update with some fixes was coming a few months back.but eventually came in October (or early November? Time isn’t real) and so I’d added it higher on my gaming list. I decided to try it this weekend and I’ve ended up being hooked. I e gone on it about an hour or so a night and I’m currently at a furnace.

The whole thing is such a ‘me’ thing too, a shady government agency works to contain ‘paranatural’ things a secret. It feels a bit like warehouse 13 or the librarians in that regard, only instead of a small team there’s whole departments. Only now there is a mystery entity (or entities, though it’s implied to be a hive mind) and the player (Jesse) shouldn't be there but somehow is and has somehow inherited the directorship. (Cause of a weapon that chose her?) it’s really good so far and I feel I’m gonna do it more in nights and Pokémon ZA in the day (I need to finish it so many)

On Sunday there was the War Between The Land And The Sea. As I said before I was kinda worried it might be not great. Thankfully the first eps were pretty incredible so let’s (pun intended) dive in on my thoughts

Yesterday was Naryu’s jab which went well enough. I went into the new M and S (the food store has moved to a bigger space). I didn’t have time to look properly but it is overwhelming. There’s a ‘sushi bar’ though that definitely feels like an overstatement as it’s just a small counter, but it is so much bigger than it was (at least 4 times, likely more).

From the sainsburys I got some strnager things stuff, a cool looking jewellery set (a hellfire/Eddie themed charm bracelet and earrings but I’m not pierced anymore), a hellfire mug and d20 keyring. But that’s all I got really. I did get copious amounts of cheese (mostly from Aldi but also there) and some of the other party food .

(Speaking of Stranger Things does anyone know places with the new funkos? People seem to be going crazy with merch and so things seem harder to find)

But they also had the Christmas radio times early! There’s at least one thing on every day which is good (ranging from Festive Pottery Throw Down, Midsummer Murders, the Christmas lectures and other Christmas specials).

When I got back I was flop but ugh had a call, but I dozed after. In the night I watched civilisation which was good and then Welcome To Derry (I’ve slipped behind a tad) and I’m shocked a theory I had was right but also where’s Taniel but also WTF? But also oh no!

Today was a library stint and, while I didn’t read any of Halloween Party like I hoped I did finally read the first two event horizon comics which… damn they’re already so brutal. I really need to find the other issues, I’m so made it wasn’t in stock when I went to town.

Weather depending I should be seeing Pillion and FNAF 2 tomorrow (though I have a last chance option on Thursday, why is Pillion just one week??) and then… I sense things will be quiet. I’m also hoping I can get fic done today/tomorrow.

We’re all stories

Tuesday was another library stint which ended up being tiring. Not cause of the library itself but mum. Last minute, after saying we’d not bring her, mum decided to bring Naryu as the ‘library dog’ which is fine, usually but Naryu got messy right before we got there so I had to take her back home (and she fought me every step cause it was me alone). So instead of walking there and resting I had to make the trip three times (and a fourth coming back) which just… ugh.

I did read the Stranger Things SFX article (just the main part, not the sections with the boys yet) which ahhh. I hadn’t intended to hold back reading it till after the season but any time I read the magazine (when travelling or at the hospital) I just read the short sections on other things. I’m so excite for the rest of the series. I also read another chapter of Halloween Party and it threw me off with the talk of computers and how they can cause bigger issues than people can. That was so surprising but so true.

Yesterday was the planned town trip, which was mostly to the cinema to see Wake Up Dead Man and Zootropolis 2. In between them (cause there was a gap) I went round town. I got the Hellfire Christmas sweater from Primark (it was on sale and I wasn’t sure if it was for Black Friday, but it’s not so yay! (here is what it looks like.) I also got the WQSK sweater, a hellfire bag (actually 2 by mistake, damnit), some nail polish and the stranger things body butter they have. I also went in bm and got two stranger things blind boxes (I am a bit annoyed pricing wasn’t on the shelves so they were more than I thought they would be) but I got Will and Vecna, and the Vecna seems to be special cause he’s clear red plastic instead of the image on the checklist.

But main thing was cinema.

I’m not gonna go over all the trailers, but there was something called the magic faraway tree which looks pretty good (though it has Andrew Garfield as a dad of children which feels wrong even though he’s probably old enough). There was also Moana and… I don’t get why making life action versions of animated stuff is so necessary but having said that it does, look really nice and I’ll probably see it.

When I got home mum had, as she tends to do, messed around with stuff. I swear she does this because she’s left unattended so no one can stop her. It wouldn’t be so bad but the things she does are often things that are acknowledged to require two people and yet she does them alone (even when we agree to do things together she’ll start them when I’m doing uni stuff). And it’s just so… ugh. But I was too tired to be anything but annoyed.

(And we also had a repeat of the record player fixation, as The Mousetrap is coming to Birmingham so mum insisted on getting the tickets to it right away which just felt like a rush, especially since we’ve not got the Death On The Nile ones yet)

The new Doctor Who magazine had arrived while I was gone and I’ve not read it yet but it does have free art cards from the new show which look nice as well as an audio freebie (a download of Seas Of Titan, a ninth Doctor sea devil story I’ve wanted for awhile). A quick flick through shows it’s got a lot of Sea Devil/Silurian stuff which I’m excite to dive into. The War Between The Land And The Sea starts Sunday and my optimism about it has been pretty low (mostly cause of how the last season of Who ended up) so I feel it’ll either be awesome, will be good but then end badly or just irritate me. Which sucks, cause I love sea devils so you’d think I’d be excite to see them back in such a big way but… (I’m also not hyped by how the main one’s face is so… human. One of the whole point of the Silurians/sea devils was that they didn’t look human)

I also saw a game I’d been really interested in, called Viewfinder, had came to switch and with a huge launch discounted do I had to get it. I love perspective games like this so I’m glad I can play at some point.

Unfortunately I completely crashed. It was a mix tiredness due to the long day, depression which has been coming in waves lately and my weaker eye just aching like crazy to the point of annoyance. Ugh. The latter is still aching a bit this morning so hopefully it’s not an all day issue.

(November round up post is coming though… at some point.)

Edit: Ahh! The next Doctor Who boxset has been revelled! Season 21! So that’s the last of the fifth Doctor eps with loads of fun/cool looking special features.

You’re a colourful bunch

So this is the ‘everything else I wanna ramble about but didn’t fit cause the Stranger Things ramble was rambly’ post.

First off before I get into the things I wanna talk about: what the actual fuck? How is it December already? It’s honestly felt that November has just… gone.

My energy this past week has been non existent which is so annoying. It’s a mix of the stress of the hospital last week and then. Uni assessment which has been nothing but stressful. In part because, well assessments always are, but also because ugh. The laptop kept needing updates which made things slower (I lost two mornings due to that) and just.. ugh. But it’s been submitted now, I know I’ve not done one part but I just… can’t figure that out (and another requires hand drawing something and I just,,l can’t find anything to do that with)

Plus there has been another issue. About a month ago I had an email from HMV with some of the Stranger Things stuff coming, I mentioned to mum (just in passing) that there was a Stranger Things record player coming. For whatever reason that triggered something in her brain, and it became a fixation. She decided that’s the thing I had to have for Christmas, over the stuff that we’d talked about. I guess cause I got some vinyls this year she’s decided it’d be good to have something to play them on I guess?

Some of her money went in last week so it was ordered and it came Friday (late afternoon after us waiting all day). I set it to one side, assuming mum would want it took up at some point. On Saturday I came down and she’d cleared space, put the box up and then wanted me to take it down and open it. I thought she wanted the outer box opening, she wanted it set up and I just thought it baffling. It’s meant to be a Christmas thing why set it up almost a month early? (And then She started an argument and moved the box back to where it was so I just…) I dunno

(And having mentioned Stranger Things and vinyls, I’m so annoyed that places in America get exclusives that never make it over here. There’s a book in one, but there’s also a wsqk vinyl and just arghhh)

Anyway, better things. Or, well, other things.

Last week I finally watched Thanksgiving. I got the blu ray of it last year and intended to watch it then and just… didn’t. So it’s been sat there for a year. I didn’t watch it on Thanksgiving (although I finished it after midnight so I guess I technically did. It was pretty good and the killer’s fit is so unsettling it’s creepier than I expected. (And I laughed so hard when he said ‘this thanksgiving there will be no leftovers!’) and damn that oven scene was so…

Saturday was the fortnite event to end the simpsons season and it was so fun. I was Will from Stranger a things for it and the whole thing was so fun. There was the bride from Kill bill, a star destroyer, a giant Homer, hatsune miku riding atop Godzilla, the girls from k-pop demon hunters. It was wild. The new season does seem pretty fun, I already got two wins on the first day which was cool.

Yesterday I watched Sonic 3, after having the blu ray since release. I dunno why it took so long to watch cause it was so great to watch it again! Shadow is awesome and I love how he’s like… a dark mirror of sonic with his past. And I love that Stone got to do some cool stuff this time. Honestly best of the series I’m so excite for 4.

Damn Strictly was so sad, cause Alex went out (how is Belvinder surviving constantly) and I feel so bad for her. Even worse cause she was just on it takes two and said her focus was off due to an injury.

Yesterday night I watched Perfect, because I wanted to watch a thing on prime and it was between Darkest Miriam (Joshua Odjick is listed as ‘beautiful man’) and Perfect (which had Garrett Wareing). I went with Perfect cause Garrett’s the main character. But… yeah

I know it was gonna be a ‘what the fuck did I just watch movie’ from the trailer and it was very much like that. At the end I just had questions cause it was so… odd and had no answers. Some of the parts were good, especially the aesthetics and Garrett did the best he could (and was shirtless and moaned so there was that) but yeah. Oddness

This weeks plans are:
*It Welcome To Derry (tonight)
*lock in enough to finish fic
*library stint, reading stuff
*finish Pokemon Za’s main story
*Cinema trip (Zootropolis 2, Wake Up Dead Man) [and look to see what Stranger Things stuff is in town]
*Watch Five Nights At Freddy’s and It Chapter 2

I was gonna see FNAF 2 Friday but it’s being moved till next Wednesday. Not cause of FNAF itself but I wanna see Pillion and it’s got an afternoon showing then so👀

But yeah end of rambles, I’m gonna flop for a bit now.

Can you here the drums

So the past few days have been a bit… ugh. Both due to energy and mood (not helped and partially caused by uni assessment) but there’s also been good things (thanksgiving [the film not the holiday], the fortnite event yesterday) but I’m not gonna talk about them here. Maybe there’ll be a post about those things later but…

Nee Stranger Things episodes went live! They went live here at 1am Thursday (so Wednesday night really) but that was too late for me (especially as I was finishing Thanksgiving). I had hoped to watch one ep on Thursday but couldn’t fit it in (and then energy crashed). So it ended up being the first two eps Friday and then the last two last night.

So! Ima gonna post thoughts and feelings under the cut, I will be posting stuff under ep titles (which’ll be bolded) so you can just avoid the latter ones if you’ve not seen them all. BUT obviously this willl be spoilery.

So! Let’s get into it.

Non Stranger Things plans for the rest of the day
*New Fortnite season
*do more Marvel snap (and get pissed at it crashing)
*Finally watch Sonic 3
*Shoto spooky stream
*Work on/finish fic
*Sunday night tv
*Perfect or Darkest Miriam on Amazon prime (I’m leaning to Perfect)

The past days have been pretty tiring, though that’s pretty much as expected.

Mums friend came Monday and, as expected, I went to town to put money in for her to get stuff. Which ugh. But at the same time it meant I could get some stuff. I managed to find the Lego Star Wars magazine I missed out on in home bargains (they have older issues for some reason which is useful and this was the last one). It comes with a lil droideka which is so cool so I’m glad I got it. Plus I also got the new Fantastic 4 comic though I’ve not read yet.

I also got some frozen stuff from Iceland so there’s some of the newer party food to try. But ugh. I dunno what it is, going to town for these trips is always tiring even more so than going out other times.

In the night I finished the Android Invasion special features (I watched some Sunday night) and then watched Welcome to Derry which was such a wild ep and I’m so glad there was so much Taniel even though he got himself into a situation and might well be doomed.

Speaking of The Long Walk actors (since Taniel is played by Collie’s actor) I found out about a film called God Is A Bullet which features Garrett Wareing (Stebbins actor) covered in tattoos, wearing make up and is apparently in a skirt and a cult? Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to have a uk release or is on streaming but I did find it on eBay. I put one on watch list, but it was from Canada (though cost less than getting it from here) and then yesterday I had an offer for it with an extra £2 off so I snapped it up. Sure it’s not coming for a bit but… I’m curious.

Yesterday I’d hoped to do uni stuff but it felt like I was cursed. The laptop did its usual thing when I wanna use it, go slow, decide it needs to update and so I couldn’t do anything with it. I’d hoped that meant today I could do something but nope! It needed to be restarted again (twice!) so I couldn’t do much.

I did manage to start it but I’m so annoyed by it already. The first question is about comparing two datasets and one is fine, it’s already saved in file excel could read. The other? I needed to manually input the entries. All 284 of them so that took up all my time this morning. Ugh.

But yeah yesterday ended up being so low energy and tiring, I even zoned out a bit during the Pokémon stream. I think it’s part due to Monday but also it was the food shop day (and yay we had the mini tacos! I love those things and hate they’re only around now)

I’m thinking of delaying the cinema trip I had planned until next week. Partly because of uni stuff being slower than I hoped and the weather app says a storm is due Friday. Plus going next week will mean I have extra money to work with. (I hate there’s not really anything available now)so yeah next week might have two cinema trips (depending on Pillion’s dates)

Waterparks have announced a tour so I’m hoping it doesn’t sellout before next week. (It’s the worst timing!) There’s vip which feels like a lot (one is over £40 just for early entry, a signed poster and a laminate which just feels like a lot) so I’ll likely just get a ticket. It’s at the same place I’ve been for James and Coheed, so hopefully it’ll be like their shows and not overheat like crazy.

I know there’s something else I was gonna say, but it has completely escaped me. Ah well.

Last night ended up being semi restful. I was mostly low energy from the day though so that was annoying.

I did watch strictly and the opening with Steps was really great! I had no idea they had a a musical (or maybe I’did and forgotten) so I’m curious what that could be. While it was good no one went home I did feel so incredibly sad it was because La Voix couldn’t do any more. They were so fun and funny it really sucks, especially after them being so excited to get to Blackpool last week.

After that Iput on the next Strange New Worlds ep which featured the gorn. Or rather it shown the aftermath of them attacking a colony and their ships attacking the enterprise, but you didn’t actually see one. I think it was a great idea to keep them so mysterious like that and I think they are in the series again so maybe they will be shown then. But it was a really good ep.

Then I finished the Wildhood special features which were pretty good. There was only 3 deleted scenes and they were pretty short (Pasmay was only in one but he was shirtless so) and the behind the scenes stuff was cute. (The trans actor got to meet one of the other actors who they really loved which was sweet.compare that with Joshua talking about how Pasmay was a sexual being and attracted to Link from the start) they did make me wanna watch it again so I’ll have to at some point but I think it’s been too soon.

I do have a storage tower I picked up before I had the sickness/glasses issues (so I’ve not fully sorted it like I’d hoped) and I’ve intended the top shelf is for fave blu rays. So far that’s Dungeons And Dragons Honour Among Thieves, Ghostwatch, Mamma Mia, the Sonic films (I still need to watch 3), Wildhood and the first It. (

Today has been a low energy day (mum didn’t even call about walking Naryu) which has been good, so it’s mostly been spent snuggling Midna and bundled. I watched Glass Onion, which is one of those films I’ve meant to see for awhile but not. It was really good, I loved the puzzle boxes at the start and there’s a reveal part way through which really ups it but it’s best to go in blind so I won’t say what that is. But also ahhAngela Lansbury playing Among Us at the start is an awesome concept too.

Since it was Doctor Who day today I did end up putting on the next of the blu ray eps, The Android Invasion.

It’s got a good concept, an alien race planning to invade but sending android duplicates of people first (and having a copy of a village to try them out on). The whole deserted village is unsettling, then the little details (like coins all dates the same day, the androids being motionless sometimes) is just so creepy.

It’s especially creepy when Sarah Jane is replaced. There’s a few subtle ways of telling she’s not real, but the doctor saying it and her face coming off (which is a pretty good effect!) is so creepy. And then an image later of her rising from a pod like a vampire from a coffin…

The Kraals are a bit less effective and I think, like the making of describes, it’s down to the look. (Especially how one is meant to be a surgeon but his hands don’t seem too dexterous!) but I felt the actor playing Guy, a human they captured, was pretty good. (Though I had been bugged by the thought I’d seen him before but couldn’t place it, he was the Castellan from Invasion Of Time.) It being the last ep for both Benton and Harry did feel a disservice to them both. It felt like neither really did much, but we’re just there to be ‘look there’s an ally of the doctor! Oh no he’s been replaced’. It’s a shame cause they were both good characters.

(One of the special features on the disc is a new tribute to Harry’s actor and i can tell it’ll give me feels)

Tomorrow is gonna be ugh. Mum’s friend is coming which is annoying and I’ll have to go into town which I’ve not done for months but maybe I’ll get some good stuff from Iceland, though I’d rather just stay home and not have to go at all.

The rest of the week is gonna be all over the place. I wanna finish up Pokémon ZA, I might have a cinema trip, but I also have a uni assessment to work on (and worry money might be an issue if so that’ll be put back a week). Plus there’s Stranger Things but I dunno which day I’ll start watching, hopefully I’ll start it before the weekend starts. (But I also wanna watch It chapter 2 and the thanksgiving blu ray so who knows)

Well that just raises further questions

I think you can guess how today ended up going from the post title.

The day started off pretty bad. I wasn’t able to settle and woke up early, to the sound of rain. I just stayed bundled in bed for awhile, put on the new Redacted ep before coming down.

The first bus was a disaster. First we got on and found that it didn’t go direct to the hospital (despite being like that weekdays. It didn’t even take us to anywhere we could change burs either. Of course I found out only after getting the daysaver which ugh so we got off, then I had a panic about losing the wallet (but found it again) but I did somehow lose the ticket.

The second bus, half hour later, was better, we could head to town and change a bus there (thankfully someone in front of us told us where to pick it up and it was right next to us). At the hospital it was… ugh. I saw a grand total of four people and kept being shifted around. Multiple tests were done and it’s clear from the first one how bad the right eye is (even with glasses I could only read the first 3 lines on the chart, with the other I could read almost seven). I was in the hospital for over two hours and most of the last hour was waiting for the last person. Which… ugh.

He did a test that had been done earlier in the day and then said I’d need to come back in 4-6 weeks for more tests, scans and a check of my glasses. Which ??? It feels like overkill and makes me wonder if they had saw something that needed checking. So ugh that’s more stress, but also I don’t see it happening that soon (with christmas and new year). But ugh. Plus I had to have drops which stung my eyes.

I did take things to do but couldn’t do much because of waiting to be called for various things. I did read one chapter of Halloween Party on the way and some articles in the Empire magazine, including one for Kwaidan which I found out is currently on Amazon prime! Hopefully I can see it.

We went into town and it was busy cause of lights being turned on. We did find where the Forbidden Planet was moved to and I got Exquisite Corpses 6+7, both of which had the cards which was nice (oddly though one was more than the other but I got my student discount). Alas they didn’t have Event Horizon 3 which is apparently a big seller. Which I love, cause Event Horizon is awesome and is cool it’s getting love, but it’s annoying I couldn’t get it.

I did get Until Dawn from the hmv Black Friday sale, so I will have to watch that sometime. I have been curious since I saw the trailer though I didn’t see it in the cinema alas. I also got Clown In A Cornfield at last (thanks hmv assistant for helping me, you were awesome!) which I’m looking forward to see again sometime. (Though I do wish it had special features but maybe they’re just not listed) if I’d had more I might have got weapons too but alas. Damnit why’re sales at bad times?

After going in a few other places we came home so now I’m flop. It does feel like it was a bit of a waste of time and now I have some more stress worrying about more tests (and not looking forward to going back, though should at least have free travel).

Now I’m gonna flop, watch strictly later and maybe watch the Wildhood special features, but maybe will just snuggle with Midna.

A clan of choice

So after the last post I did see Welcome To Derry and ahh! I’m so glad I saw the first It film last week cause that made things hit so much better than they otherwise had (especially the last scene). This ep confirmed that Charlotte Hanlon is the best of the adult main characters. (And also that Taniel is the most pretty man in a Derry and so based) bring on next week’s ep!

Yesterday was the library stint and I read a few more chapters of Halloween party (said party has happened, a body found and Poirot introduced), then then rest of the day was mostly low energy.

Today was the town trip. My mp3 player is so odd. I put the member versions of Everyone’s A Star! as seperate files but the player has plays them as one which is so puzzling. And annoying cause putting the album on plays every song four times as result (bar bonus tracks)

Befroe the cinema I grabbed a drink then went in Asda and ahh! They had a plushie of scoops ahoy Steve! He was the only one there but alas the queue was too long and time was getting on. I did go back later though and got him.

Between films I got noms, using points that were due to expire, then went in a few places but didn’t get much. I did get the It Chapter 2 blu ray (cex had it filed under S instead or I which was why I couldn’t find it) and I picked the jacket up though haven’t tried it on yet. The Walsall primark does seem to have most of the Stranger things stuff too which is pretty cool (bar the jacket) so maybe I’ll get something later.

There were a load of food trucks/stalls along the Main Street (I dunno if it’s an event or what) but on the way to the station I saw one had churros so I had to get them. They were really nice and I saved some for mum when I got back.

New cinema day means trailers! And quite a few were new to me, yipee! (And smushing them all together)

Whistle: this was a very vibes based trailer, but it looks pretty cool from that. I’m curious.
Send Help: At the start of it I was like ugh, but then as it went on it got better. I don’t think I’d make the effort for it though
Five Nights At Freddie’s 2: A new trailer which is pretty cool, I really need to rewatch the first)
The Mandalorian and Grogu: this one wasn’t new but I still squeed when I see it!
Mortal Kombat II: my main thoughts on this was there’s a second one? And also this was attached to a 12a film? It looks like it might be good, but again I’m not sure I’m sold on it (even though it has the guy for Ring in it)
Anaconda: this looked so bonkers and I can tell it’s gonna be a wild time. It’s actually sold me on it.
Primitive War: I read a go review of this at the station ironically. It’s basically Vietnam War+dinosaurs. It sounds like a wild concept but could be fun, though apparently that’s out in just over a week.

The first film was Keeper, which is a bit like Him, in that I saw trailers for it regularly so got intrigued enough to want to see it so was it good?

The second film was Predator Badlands! I’ve not actually seen the mainline a predator films, just Alien vs Predator (I liked the first film but the second??) but the trailers made me so curious.

And since I’m not going to the cinema tomorrow that’s another month of the pass done.
Month 4: October 20th - November 20th
23rd: Black Phone 2
3rd: Frankenstein
5th: Shelby Oaks
19: Keeper, Predator Badlands

Five films this time which is pretty good considering. I think if I didn’t have the pass I’d have only seen one, maybe two. Again I. Glad the pass has let me take a chance on stuff and see stuff I’d normally not be able to or overlook.

Obviously my fav is Frankenstein, but Black Phone 2 and Predator Badlands are pretty equal I think, then Shelby Oaks and lastly Keeper.

I didn’t think I’d be seeing much for the next month but I think I’ll be seeing 5 things again: Wake Up Dead Man/Zootropolis 2, Five Nights At Freddie’s 2/Pillion and The Shining. The last one is a maybe, but I do wanna see it cause of Welcome To Derry which I didn’t expect.

***

When I got home I had a letter confirming Saturday’s appointment and ugh. At the bottom it says you can claim ‘a week’s free bus travel’ but only if you claim it 14 days before the appointment which is just so useless when I got 6 days warning. Ugh.

Also damnit Comic Con Birmingham announcing Jamie Campbell Bower with under a weeks notice. There’s no way I could go with the appointment draining me the day before (and lack of money of course) but damnit.

A brief post before I watch Welcome To Derry and bundle up.

Yesterday after we got back from walking the pup the phone rang and mum said it was for me. I was puzzled cause… well it’s a Sunday, who rings on a Sunday? Turns out it was the hospital about my eye referral and it’s on Saturday.

Now when the optician said he was referring me he said it would take months to hear a thing and it’d be nothing to worry about so I kinda didn’t think much about it. But the speed that it’s happened (a matter of weeks) feels concerning. Is it the anxiety making me paranoid? Maybe but it just feels… I dunno wrong somehow.

(Also it gives me flashbacks to last year when I was bleeding all the time and they still took months for things to get done, so this happening so fast is…odd to say the least)

So now we have an annoying unexpected trip on Saturday which is just gonna make me anxious and probably be all for nothing. (At least we might go into town and find where the Wolverhampton forbidden planet is so that’s something)

And then today the internet has been terrible. The router cable has been acting up for the past weeks but usually just for a minute or two. This morning it kept going down repeatedly before going off for over an hour. Luckily I’d gotten fed up and ordered a cable last night though that took ages to arrive (it was meant to come between 12-3 it didn’t come until almost 6). But I just switched it over so I hope that’s the end of it. Otherwise it’s the socket acting up again which… ugh

Tomorrow is the library stint and then I might chase up the student finance stuff and then Wednesday is out all day (the jacket is there to be picked up though so that’s good news)

Egyptian mummies building rockets, that’s crazy!

Thursday’s appointment went ok, though was annoying. I went early thinking I could get there and wait inside but nope, the lunch hour for the opticians is between 1-2 (which makes having appointments at 2 feel really odd). It was just using a new peripheral testing machine which was fine though for some reason my eye decided to water part way through.

When I got back I watched the Pokopia thing I missed and ahh it looks so good! It really feels like it’s a Pokémon version of animal crossing, though it lets you have way more Pokémon than you could ac villagers. It feels there’s more to it than just a life sim though, there is a mystery aspect teased and I’m so curious. I really am so hyped for it.

(And speaking games I’ve still not sorted Hyrule Warriors. I was thinking of getting it when my money went in but I’ve still not. I think it’s partly cause I wanna finish Pokémon ZA first, I don’t want it to fall by the wayside like silksong and hades II. But also I know sales are coming and mums annoying friend so…)

In the night there was Taskmaster which was fun. It was the final and everyone wore pirate outfits and honestly? They all looked incredible in them. This was a pretty fun group too! Instead of just teasing one thing the post show trailer shown the new year treat and next champion of champions which was a surprise. I guess the latter is coming pretty soon.

Yesterday ended up being lazy day which I had expected cause of deliveries but we also got hit by the storm so it was raining and windy all day, to the point we didn’t even walk Naryu. Instead we just bundled up, finished Murder Before Evansong, which was pretty good, than children in need, which was eh and Sister Boniface which was good too if a tad sad.

Of the deliveries one was fine one wasn’t. The first was the 5 Seconds Of Summer order which was meant to be a picture vinyl and cd. However when I opened the package there was the vinyl but no sign of the cd. I’ve contacted support so we’ll see what happens. I did order the member cds cause the bundle came back, with a signed card (damnit Ashton and Luke signing on themselves so their signatures aren’t clear😭) so not having the regular one isn’t a big loss but still… (thoughts on the album in another post when I’ve listened more).

The other package was fine. It had the new Lego Star Wras advent calendar cause it had £14 off (and it’s cool, it’s got a bunch of droids!) and a buildable pokedex which I didn’t know was a thing till I saw it in an email. It looks so cool though, it’s pretty much lifesize and even has a light! The screen is also a set of plates with lenticular images so it can shown one of 5 pokemon (the kanto OG starters, Pikachu and Eevee) so it is pretty cool! It also has a stand which can hold the plates but it doesn’t seem to be as secure as it could be.

In the night I watched the IT blu ray that I got last week and it was pretty wild. Like all I knew about it was the sewer drain scene from the start and I didn’t expect it to be as brutal as it was. But yeah thewhole thing was wild I so intrigued by the lore stuff and to see some in welcome to Derry (but having that fire for the film backstory is such a bad choice) and I’m super curious to see chapter 2, hopefully soon.

The cex in town does have it listed in stock so I’ll swing by when I pick up my jacket (they’re pretty much right next to each other) so hopefully it’ll be there. The plan for that trip has also been changed too. The cinema added a morning showing for Keeper so I’ll see it then, which is better than seeing it at 5:40 like I was gonna cause it means I’ll be back before night.

Today was another lazy type day, though at least we walked the pup. Tonight I watched the next Who ray eps, which was Pyramids Of Mars. This is an odd one to post thoughts about cause I did watch it fairly recently, cause they put it out as a Tale Of The Tardis when Sutekh was bought back.

It is a pretty good ep and I really like the Egyptian vibes. It’s a shame there’s not been more Egyptian type stuff in Who. It’s also so creepy in places, especially when the controlled Professor Scarman encounters his brother. At the same time it’s funny, the meme scene of Sarah Jane and the Doctor turning and walking out on seeing a mummy in the last part is so funny, as is the poacher who gets crushed by two mummies pressing themselves against him. That wouldn’t be as funny if the mummies chests weren’t so… ample. (The tardis wiki pic doesn’t do them justice)

Also it’s incredible that Sutekh is sold just by a vocal performance, since he’s just paralysed the whole time. The fact hat he still comes off as threatening is a credit to his actor. And speaking of actors Sarah Jane gives a lot of heart and we actually get an answer to a question often unasked: why doesn’t the doctor just leave when something bad happens? (Plus who knew she was such a good shot??)

Tomorrow I’ll go through the special features of the disc, but also there’s a bunch of other stuff. I wanna watch a film (either Fantastic Four First Steps or Glass Onion), then DND and I wanna do some iconning and putting music on the pod thing. (Plus I wanna poke my fic brain)

And I wanna listen to the next Night Vale and Redacted eps (the later being a new podcast about an X-Files type unit so I’m already sold on the concept). But damn I really have rambled, oops.

Brought to you be the letter A

So yesterday I was off to Birmingham for the James Marriott gig.

Honestly if it wasn’t for the stranger things cafe and checking stuff I’d have gone much later, but alas. Train trips for gigs now are pretty eh. I mean the journey was fine, but my phone is useless and it’s not as if I can take anything to do or read.

And of course the ticket machine at the station was closed, there was no one on the train and even the fares to pay thing at the Birmingham station was closed so that was annoying.

But anyway. Mum had the ‘smart’ idea that I should check to see if the Hellfire jacket was at Primark and wear it to the gig. At the very least I was hoping to try one (the stock check before I left said there was some albeit low stock) so I went there first. But there was none in any size (I even asked someone to check, in case they were somewhere else since the one in Telford, and apparently elsewhere, has stuff spread out). Alas there wasn’t any, which was fine by me. (And probably for the best)

Since the cafe was open I did have the pizza twist thing and it was nice (other than the tough ends) but it also looks like this which is certainly… a thing. I had to have a drink cause it was warm but damn. A can of 7up was £2 which feels crazy to me.

After that I wandered round Birmingham a bit. The christmas market is on already so everything is annoyingly bright, but they have churros now! I didn’t get any but the smell was so nice. Annoyingly both the game outlet and forbidden planet had discounted figures, which I likely would’ve got if I’d been able (damn gigs being bitchy).

After wandering round the bullring (which was uneventful) I went to the venue and the queue was quite long, much longer than Coheed. After waiting around till doors open it was time to head inside, security felt a tad absurd checking my hat. Like what did he expect to find in there?

Inside the first support was on and he sounded pretty good, though I only heard two songs (and one was a cover of Chappell Roan) but I just went to merch. I’d seen some of the tees were nice looking so I got the grapes one cause Grapes is one my favs, though the dogs playing cards was so cute (I hope he adds it to his site later)

The second support were just ok, I couldn’t really make out what any of them were saying even when they were talking.

Then there was James’ set. For the supports I’d noticed there were these strange banner things up, so I just assumed they were some sort of decoration, but no! They were these really cool light things that changed colours over the course of the set which was good and pretty. I wasn’t a fan of the general lighting of the opening song though which was just every light flashing so I had to spend the song with my eyes closed for the most part.

But the set was really great! He played Car Lights which is always a fav and then Grapes was the last song which was an awesome one to end on. I was surprised Him was on the set list and there was the new California Rain song which has only been played this tour. Also we got Limbs which apparently isn’t one played often?

But James is one of those natural showmen, he interacted with the crowd constantly, did a roll and just looked so great too. Apparently our date was the biggest show they’ve played at so far, especially since it was sold out! (Which was a worry last sold out show I had at this venue people were passing out like crazy, thankfully that wasn’t the case this time but it was still so warm).

Apparently he does small sets after the gig outside but I didn’t know where it would be and didn’t wanna hang around (apparently it was right by the entrance which was annoying to find out! Though I dunno if I missed much).

I grabbed a poster from outside, then a drink from a store by the station cause I was parched and I just flopped on a seat at the station. Though I did get veggie sushi from a place at the station, though I wish I could more than one cause it was half off and didn’t know till I paid.

Everything then was just waiting around and then the train was delayed, then on time, then delayed but it was on time at the end. Once I got off the station and was walking home that was when I had an issue. I was about half way home and got my phone out to use the torch, then saw my tee had gone. I panicked and then had to ring it was gone) but I managed to find it. It was just across from the station laying on some leaves and I dunno how it got there. It was stuffed in the bag pretty good (or so I thought) and it had lasted the whole gig just fine so.., ugh. At least i got it.

At home I just flopped. I looked into getting the jacket on click and collect (I was gonna today but had to sort something for mum) so that should be in town by the time I go in for Predator Badlands/Keeper. plus I ordered the Lego Star Wars advent calendar cause Amazon had it for £14 off.

I did see the new Mario trailer before heading up and it looks pretty fun and very pretty.

In a bit I’m off for the other opticians appointment, then seeing the new Pokopia vid and tonight is the Taskmaster final which should be fun.

So it’s been almost a week since the last post, so it’s probably time for another even though I’ve not done anything too exciting.

First off nintendo have decided that this is gonna be a random announcement week. There is confirmation of a new Zelda Lego set coming next year, which judging by the video seems to be the Ganon fight from Ocarina of time (with a new Zelda!). I’m so glad they’re finally doing another one, I’m honestly surprised it’s took them this long.

The other two announcements are more annoying in the sense I can’t see what they are on time. There’s a thing about the Mario film (today) which seems to be info on it so likely a trailer and tomorrow there’s a new Pokopia trailer which I’m so hyped to see but again I’ll miss it. (Today causa heading out for the gig, tomorrow cause of the last opticians appointment).

But anyway, the weekend was largely uneventful, mostly cause of being wiped energy wise. However the IT blu ray came so I’m all set to watch that whenever. But mostly I was just flop, though I have done Pokémon ZA some more, mostly sidequest stuff though I have progressed on the main quest and finally met Corbeau who is really hot (though shorter than I expected).

Monday was the trip to the vets cause of Naryu’s ears and it seems they’re (finally!) all sorted so she was at last able to have the first of her jabs. That’s good, though it was a different vet this time and his unfamiliarity was clear.

I picked up the empire Stranger Things from sainsburys, along with some of the big Doritos bags cause they were on offer then came back, flopped and did more ZA.

In the night I watched the latest Once Upon A Time In Space, which has been this interesting thing about astronaut and others who have worked in the space programme. It’s been really interesting so far with them talking about their experiences openly, both the food and the bad. (And the first ep was so sad cause there was one guy talking about his brother who sadly died when the shuttle blew up) This one made me sad about Mir, even though it was getting rundown at this point (and last weeks had incidents happening there). It’s just a shame it was scuppered due to politics.

Then I watched IT Welcome To Derry. This week was a more ‘tame’ ep in comparison to the first two, but it was still really great. (And damn who is letting these kids out unsupervised so often!) And yay Taniel (Joshua Odjick) got lines this time! And I saw he’s in the next time trailer so I’m excited for next week’s.

On Sunday I watched the next ep of Wednesday, leaving one ep left. Instead of waiting a week I decided to watch it last night. So what did I think of Wednesday season 2? (Under a cut for spoilers, and likely rambles)

I’m heading out in a few hours (around 2) for the James Marriott gig tonight, yipee! I would usually head out later cause being in Birmingham for a gig means I can’t do too much (and I’d rather go to my usual cinema than the odeon for stuff) but I wanna try for the Stranger Things cafe so fingers crossed I can this time. Then it’ll just be a matter of killing time (which again hard cause I can neither take anything to do or get anything I see, unless it’s small).

Bury me in stardust

So this is gonna be one of those posts about a bunch of stuff.

First off, good news. So about three weeks ago there was an issue when I went to see Tron Ares/Zoopcalypse, with ticket inspectors being assholes. Short version: the ticket machine wasn’t working and instead of helping people they were being assholes, including not believing people and slapping them with penalty fares. Well it took a few attempts, including having to quote the penalty dar act back to them, but the thing got withdrawn so that’s a stress gone. Also I heard back from the train company when I complained and they also admitted that they were in the wrong and would be reprimanded. So woo!

On Wednesday night I decided to get back to the Doctor Who run, with Planet Of Evil. The ep itself was ok. Like I watched and it was a decent enough story but it’s not one that exactly lingers you know? Also the name is a total misnomer cause the planet isn’t evil.

While the story didn’t feel special the same can’t be said about the sets. The spaceship has a nice model and interiors were nice. But the standout was the jungle of the planet which looks fantastic. The designers did such an incredible job (and even the bbc at the time acknowledged it, the behind the scenes mentions it was included inan in house film about goood design) and it really manages to be such a strange and alien landscape.

Yesterday was the trip out to Telford, which was a place I’d not been to before. It meant an early stuff which is annoying (especially after having one for the prior day) but we got there in good time. (And it was so beautiful seeing all the trees on the way in oranges and yellows) The place overall was… it was fine, but the stores just felt so much smaller than I expected, especially the hmv.

Primark didn’t have the hellfire jacket I wanted (which wasn’t a surprise it seems only bigger stores do) but I got a lil coin purse and a Hellfire tee. The tee is a new design and I can’t help but wonder if that’s significant. (I can’t imagine Dustin changing the design, so I feel it has to mean something? But what I dunno) But cause they didn’t have the jacket mum fixated on it, like making me wanna decide what to do about it. (She kept asking, ‘what’re you gonna do? Are you gonna order it? Are you going to ask your cousin to look for it?’ And I’m like ??? I can’t do any of those things now why can’t you wait till we’re home)

We went in a few places after that. Game didn’t have much, m and s had the new party food so I looked at it but it felt really expensive. (Ie they have mini tacos this year and they’re over twice the price that they were in sainsburys). Then in Pandora they had the Stranger Things charms so I could finally see them (I’ve wanted to see them for about a year but this is the first store that’s had them) and I got the one I always liked. I dunno if mums putting it up for Christmas or if I’m giving the money for it next week.

Then when we got to entertainer and b and m mum just got more agitated about the time so we didn’t do much in either. I got the stranger things tin and glass from b and m though which is nice and I saw the cute new Steve plushie in the entertainer, though I wish I’d picked him up.

HMV was really small and didn’t have stuff I was looking for. I did get two CDs from the 2 for £16, DJO and Twenty One Pilots (mostly to see what the fuss is about with the latter, I do wonder if I should’ve checked for Biffy’s new album instead. As I went to the till I also picked up a Young Frankenstein blu ray which was meant to have 20% (though when I checked the receipt email later didn’t) and an impulse purpose from ‘the discount with purchase’of chainsaw man season 1.(will I regret that? Who knows)

Then we had noms before heading home and aww Midna was so sweeet she just climbed straight into my lap the moment I sat down.

When we got back we were tired, though it seems the tiredness hit mum more. She completed zonked out half way through Art Detectives and didn’t wake for almost two hours. As a result I didn’t see Celebrity Traitors until this lunchtime. I knew there’d been some spoilers so I had avoided them yesterday… but this morning I saw one quickly and mum heard on the radio who won.

(Spoiler cut for people)

Before that (and I know I’m going backwards but shh) this morning magazines came. I had hoped they’d come yesterday so I could read them in the car but oh well (not that I had reading focus anyway). I’ve not had chance to look at either, but I had a flick through of Sfx. It’s a Stranger Things one and I got a Dustin cover (other options are Will, Mike and Lucas) which is nice, plus there’s a poster, stickers and art card. Next month’s one is also Strnager Things so I’m curious if that’ll have more freebies or covers. Hopefully I’ll be able to read some of it, and the Doctor Who one, tomorrow.

(Also there’s gonna be Stranger Things coming back to Fortnite, I’m hoping for a Steve or Eddie skin. The game only has a Demogorgon, Hopper and Eleven so far)

Also this morning (and again I’m going back) I listened to the new Set It Off album, but just once before walking Naryu. It’s a strange one cause 8 of the 12 songs have already been released which is definitely an odd choice. It’s hard to judge after one full listen of the thing, I feel I definitely like some of the unreleased stuff but I don’t care much about Pathological (the opener and last single) and Ithink it’s an odd choice to have a redone version of an old song take up one slot.

It’s also the release of the new Hyrule Warriors but I’ve not got it yet. Usually I preorder Zelda stuff, but the timing has been so bad. I’m hoping to get it next week (I want it as a download but that means getting an sd card for it which ugh) I do wanna finish Pokémon ZA beforehand though, so I hope to go back on it more this weekend. The thing with ZA is it’s hard to know how far I’m into it. With Pokémon games it’s usually easy, you can track how far you are by how many of 8 badges you have, but with this there’s no clear indicator and I’ve not really wanted to look into it to find out (cause I don’t wanna spoil myself) I guess we’ll see though.

Tonight’s plan is to watch Beyond Paradise, Sister Boniface and hopefully to fic some after noms. This weekend I might watch a film with mum but I dunno what, maybe Hocus Pocus, Fantastic 4 First Steps or both. Or neither if I get too sidetracked, who knows.

Yesterday ended up, as I suspected after Monday, being a fairly lazy day. I didn’t do too much, just uni stuff and then flopping a bit.

It was the bake off finale and the result was predictable. (Mum wasn’t happy about that and thought one of the others deserved to win. Personally I thought having one person be star baker so often kinda took the fun out of it) Then we watched QI and I watched the Pokémon anime stream.

Last night though was odd. I just couldn’t settle and I dunno why. Maybe it’s cause there was a bit of a storm? But I dunno.

This morning I headed out to see Shelby Oaks. The trip to town was just to see the film so I went straight there. It’s a bit of a shame that this was the best time, every other showing was at about (or after) 8pm.

The trailers were the same as before (The Bone Temple, Keeper, Silent Night Deadly Night and Five Nights At Freddy’s 2) so you’ve already seen thoughts on them. However there was one I’d not seen and that was for Primate. And that is very much a no from me. It’s about a monkey that’s a member of a human family, only it goes feral and attacks people suddenly (seemingly cause something bit it). And, honestly, it just feels like it’ll be more upsetting than anything.

But anyway onto Shelby Oaks.

Next cinema adventure will be… I dunno when. I do wanna try and see Predator Badlands and Keeper but I dunno when. (If it wasn’t for the Stranger Things cafe I’d see badlands when I’ve got my gig next week)

And speaking of my gig ahhh James Marriott won’t Rock Sound award AND HAS HIS OWN COVER, (though damn I missed the signed posters, why do I keep missing signed posters of his?)

Anyway.

After the film I had 25 minutes before the next train so I popped in the Asda across from the cinema. There wasn’t too much interesting but as I was heading out there was a small Halloween section. I got a Hellfire Club glass which looks cool, plus some bags (2 Starnger Things, 2 Nightmare Before Christmas) which were nice. And on the way home I went in the co-op I got a Pokémon magazine that had spooky Pokémon to paint.

Tonight I’m gonna watch Planet Of Evil, the next ep from the Doctor Who boxset, then tomorrow is the trip out which will no doubt be so tiring.

So this is gonna be one of those rambly posts about watching stuff. First, Wednesday which I watched Sunday (specifically the ep Woe Thyself).

Second is Frankenstein which I finally saw yesterday, yipee!

Before getting into that the trailers:
The Bride! - This felt appropriate since the titular bride is a bride for Frankenstein’s creature. It looks like one of those films that could either be fun or terrible and I’m not sure which it’ll be.
Silent Night Deadly Night - I saw this before for Black Phone 2 and my thoughts of it are mostly eh. It’s something I might see if it’s on tv or streaming but I don’t feel I’ll see it
The Housemaid - gotta admit I’m kinda curious about this one, even though I can’t tell the tone exactly from they trailer, but it has Amanda Seyfried from Mamma Mia in (and apparently it’s based on a book)
Wake Up Dead Man - The next follow up to Knives Out and it looks pretty good, I love a murder mystery. I really need to watch Glass Onion before it’s out though. (I do feel bad that it’s called ‘a knives out mystery’ instead of a Benoit Blanc one though)

Lastly, and even more finally, is the last ep of Stranger Things.

October has felt like a mixed bag and it’s mostly because, between glasses fucking up and being sick, I’ve not been able to do the things I had planned. I think the main annoyance was not being able to see Frankenstein in cinemas yet. Partly that’s due to wanting to see it, but if I had seen it last week as planned it would have meant I’d have been to the cinema every week of October.

Even without that though I’ve seen 7 cinema films last month, which is more than I saw in all of last year. It’s hard to give a fav of those, it feels it’s between The Long Walk and Black Phone 2.

Other than that there’s been a lot of Treehouse Of Horrors, which I might try and finish going through this month (how many others are there? *checks* oh Disney+ has 36 what)

Also new is Now tv cause, like I said, I totally caved for it. (And yessss the second ep had Joshua Odjick albeit for about 5 seconds). And speaking of him I still love Wildhood. I really need to finish the special features of it, because that’s when my glasses broke.

This month I’m hoping to actually fic. I had started something I was working on and it was going well, then BAM sickness. Ugh. Hopefully I can get back to it this week.

***

The first weeks of November are gonna be real busy. This week is, Frankenstein and maybe Shelby Oaks (which’ll be two separate trips) and the Telford trip which I feel will be draining. The following week has Naryu’s vet trip, the James Marriott gig (and maybe Stranger Things cafe if I get the timings right), another eye test and the 5 Seconds Of Summer album coming.

Also the spooky season catch up.

Day 30: Pokémon ZA, It welcome to Derry - the pilot

Pretty much covered in the last post.

Day 31: Halloween! It Welcome to Derry - the thing in the dark, Trick R Treat

The second ep of Welcome To Derry went live on Halloween and I was able to watch it in the night. It wasn’t quite as messed up as the first one, though damn. IT really loves tormenting those kids huh? And the military angle is definitely gonna blow up in their faces. (And ugh racism)

Trick R Treat is my annual Halloween film and this is the version I got last year. It’s still the only 4K thing I have but I feel it was so worth it considering it’s a yearly thing and how great it looks. Plus it’s just fun, despite the stories being pretty scary. (I still think the real monsters are the school bus parents)

I did carve my pumpkin into a simple face, but didn’t even put a light in it this year and it sat in the kitchen which feels so wrong.

The sequel
Day 1: Strictly Halloween, Nine Bodies In A Mexican Morgue finale

Strictly Halloween was really great this year, it really felt like everyone bought their a game and everyone looked great. (And awww it was sweet that this dance made La Voix love it.) I was so sad that Ellie was sent home through, she was doing so well and mum was so mad when they didn’t vote for her.

Nine Bodies was an interesting finale. I had a feeling it was going to go the way it did after last week, I just didn’t expect the extent it would. And ha! That ending.

Now though I’m gonna finish the Trick R Treat special features and the. Bundle up.
