Last night I ended up watching The Masked Singer final which was pretty good. Danny from Mcfly was the guest judge and he was pretty fun. Me and mum were right that dressed crab was Gregory Porter (she guessed him a few weeks back and I agreed). Continuing the music theme I watched a thing on bbc with music inspired by movies which was pretty good, I loved how utterly random it was. There was Madonna, Ella Fitzgerald, Lady Gaga, Bannanarama and a few others I wasn’t familiar with.

Speaking of music my recently played songs are Running Up That Hill (which I know I’m not alone with after that Stranger Things ep) and fields Of Elation which is a Sleep Token song from their first ep which I’d not heard until last week (which is here on Spotify). Fields Of Elation is just… I dunno, but you can just feel the despair in Vessel’s voice. I dunno what it says about me that I’ve been listening to it so much but it just makes me… feel.

On the other hand Running Up That Hill… I kinda was under the impression it was about exchanging places with someone that had died you know? And then I read something on tv tropes and then listened to the lyrics and it’s very much… not.

Anyway last night I kinda went drained and didn’t watch anything or game. Then this morning I woke up in a bad mood again which, ugh. I wish my brain wasn’t like this. It evened out a little over the sad, mostly morphing fro annoyance to the vague sadness that’s plagued the past days. Which ugh.

I did watch Ghostbusters Frozen Empire, which I picked up when we went to Birmingham a few weeks back. I’d wanted to get it after seeing Afterlife over Christmas so thoughts under the cut.

Frozen Empire picks up a few years after Afterlife, with the family from Afterlife now full fledged ghostbusters (they’re even in the old firehouse!). It opens with them trying to catch a dragon ghost which is a fun sequence, though if course they cause damage which the mayor bitches over.

That bitchiness leads to the youngest member, Phoebe (the daughter from afterlife) getting benched which, along with a mystery artefact kicks off the plot. There’s more than just that of course and it’s that more that fills up the film.

There’s a new paranormal research facility (with more ghost storage which they need cause the ghostbusters one is full). Ray and podcast are doing a video series. Trevor has to deal with slimer. And Phoebe ends up connecting with a ghost (and there’s a definite vibe there).

Overall it does feel a bit… busy in places, but it does work well. All of the parts manage to fit together (even slimer) so it does feel like everything was building to the end. Although it does feel like Trevor is wasted, like he’s pretty out of focus compared with his sister which does feel like a shame. Like I can see why she had the main focus and it absolutely makes sense, but it does feel a shame.

Also you’d think that a film titled frozen empire would have the frozen part as a focus, but it’s not. Like there are parts with freezing which do work well, but the visuals of New York frozen? They’re only in the last third/quarter of the film which does feel like a shame, because the visuals are really good! But it basically amounts to a sequence of New York getting frozen then a siege at the ghostbusters station. Again it does make sense but feels like a shame.

But overall? I really enjoyed it and I’m glad that there’s a sequel being worked on.

Today I also built a lil Lego set I got before I was sick. It’s a valentines set, with two lil hedgehogs and it’s pretty cute. The base of it and the mushroom are both shaped like hearts which is a cute feature.

Then I finally went back to Echoes Of Wisdom and I ended up doing the Holy Mount Lanayru temple. But man I felt so hard for poor Condè I hope his brother comes back (either as a side quest or in the end credits). I did like how the temple was a mix of hot and cold, that was pretty clever. Next destination is to the ‘eternal forest’ which I suspect may then lead to the final boss (or give something to beat them) but I guess we’ll see.

Tonight’s plan is… I dunno, it depends on my energy which feels a bit low. I do wanna do ficcing, 59 look for the phone, or some on ESO abut honestly? I dunno.

Tomorrow (or Tuesday) is likely Stranger Things, though which day depends, again, on my energy and mindset.

I enjoyed the Masked Singer, though wasn't surprised at Dressed Crab at all.

It's been a while since I've seen Frozen Empire, and while I don't remember too much about it, the fact it wasn't frozen that much has stuck in my mind. I was expecting most of the film to be that way.
