Jarnathan!
Feb. 28th, 2026 06:48 pmSo it’s already the last day of February what the fuck? Where has the time gone?
I’ve still neither done, nor read the stuff I love posts (oops) I had thought to yesterday but time kinda got away for me. However I bring it up cause the one I did do (about standalone films) made me wanna watch some of them.
The first, which I disc switch to a few days back (I can’t recall when exactly) was Dungeons And Dragons Honour Among Thieves, which I watched not long after the last post.
And yes, I can confirm it’s still a top tier movie. It’s just so fun and funny and it looks incredible (so much of the effects are practical) and Xenk is so handsome. Again it has made me sad there’s not a follow up or anything, but then again it works so well on its own (though I would love to see Xenk some more,
i also found out that the music is done by the same guy that did the music for The War Between The Land And The Sea (and Wallace And Gromit Vengeance Most Fowl!)
(Other films I wanna rewatch soon are Event Horizon, Clown In The Cornfield, Wildhood and Spree)
I woke early Friday which was annoying (especially as the loud noises started soon after) but I was glad to hear the news that the Greens won the by election! Labour had acted like it was a two horse race between them and reform and yet both were beaten (and sizeably too!) of course it looks like labour leadership aren’t going to learn anything from this defeat (they’re already sending out more smears and comminting to continuing being awful) but I do feel hope again anyway.
Friday was also Pokémon day which is the 30th anniversary of Pokémon (which makes me feel ancient). I did fish out a Pokémon tee to wear (with ghost Pokémon) and I finally watched an episode of Pokémon concierge which is really cute so far! I love the art style to it and I hope to watch more soon.
There was a new Poke on Presents, which if anyone hasn’t seen it tends to be a mix of stuff we know, coming events, stuff for the mobile games and then the genuinely good stuff at the end. One cute thing was a Pokémon music player which is shaped like a lil game boy! The downside? The music is on cartridges (like game boy games) and there’s… 47 of them. What??
Of the new announcements Gale Of Darkness is being added to the GameCube player, which is great cause I never played it and always wanted to (it was rare and so prices went insane). There was also more info on Pokopia, with a dj rotom that plays music, a reveal of electricity to power things and a few more Pokémon shown. The fact that it has electricity makes me really curious what sort of contraptions could be made. So much of what was shown was early game I’d not even considered ti a possibility.
Lastly! The new Pokémon games are called Winds And Waves and it looks gorgeous! It’s so beautiful and really shows off the power of the switch 2. It did show off the new starters which look cute! I’m torn between the Fire and Water ones. It’s not coming out till next year which is a long way off but I’m sure it’ll be worth it.
In the night Resident Evil Requiem came, though I didn’t go on it until after The Last Leg (so 11). I only did the first section with Grace but damn. It really looks so incredible on the switch 2. I played for about an hour, doing her opening section and the first cut scene of Leon’s (ahhh he looks so hot!) I do have minor thoughts (under the cut just in case but it super spoilery?)
So the opening section sees you as Grace, who is a new character. She an FBI, investigating mysterious deaths. Her boss sends her to the crime scene of the latest victim to lo look it over. The problem? The location is a hotel where she saw her mother die 8 years ago (seen during a segment part way through). He acts like going will let her ‘confront her demons’ which… terrible advice.
What gets me is that, even setting aside that she has trauma associated with the location, he sends her to this place alone. A place that is falling apart (you find out during the flashback that there was a fire). So you send an agent to an unsafe location alone? That just sounds incredibly reckless from a general safety standpoint.
But also has he never seen… anything. Like he doesn’t think that a location that has specific trauma to a person investigating isn’t a massive red flag? (Cause spoiler, there’s somone there and and he says he left the body to specifically to lure her there)
Like yeah I get why it’s been done from a gameplay standpoint, but it just makes her boss seem incompetent at best.
Ihave decided I’m gonna try and go tomorrow to Birmingham. I’m thinking of just wandering around (including checking TK for more Agatha books though I doubt it), look at the Lego Pokémon in the Lego store and pop in a few other places.i have considered doing a Birmingham trip before, stopping off at the cinema on the way back, so this might be it.
Alas there’s not much showing at the cinema. Most of the screenings are for Wuthering Heights (I’m not fussed about but I’ve heard bad things), Scream (I wasn’t going to see but I’ve heard equally bad things), an Elvis concert thing (eh)and Hoppers (for a preview weekend. Hoppers is the one I’ll probably see but it depends how I feel and if things line up. (goat is an alternate possibility but there’s fewer showings). Part of me does wanna go for a rewatch of Cold Storage but I doubt I will, at least this time.
If I don’t see hoppers, well it’ll be on for weeks anyway (I might see it with The Bride in a few weeks.
Now I’m gonna have noms, try and do fall guys event thing and then… maybe fic, maybe watch Heated Rivalry. (I’m not sure I’ll go on Requiem but we’ll see)
