I hope that everyone had a nice Christmas/holidays/past few days.

Christmas for me was pretty restful, in the morning we opened presents and there were no real surprises. I got Animal Crossing monopoly, a Who audio boxset and some Lego Star Wars. I ended up listening to the first audio when we came back and it was pretty spooky, which I loved. Though at the same time it also got me in the feels because it had Wilf in it (and in a big role too!).

(A slight diversion but on Christmas Eve I also watched the new ghost story for Christmas which was called Lot 409 and was spooky as well, involving a mummy and a hot guy, who I definitely got šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆvibes from. But anyway!)

The rest of Christmas was mostly spent watching bbc 1, so I watched two very christmasy films: The Addams Family 2 and Toy Story 4. They’re certainly… unusual choices for Christmas but they were entertaining enough and Toy Story 4 felt better on my second watch of it. Addams Family 2 was new to me and I thought it was pretty fun, even though some of the reveals were so obvious.

I started building one of the Lego sets I got, the spider tank from The Mandalorian and I did the first two bags then (making the body), the third yesterday (making the legs) and the last bag today (making the claws, head and parts of the top). It looks pretty cool and I love there’s finally a new darksaber piece but alas, mum caught the bag yesterday and one piece has gone missing, so one leg isn’t attached. I’ve sent off for a replacement though so it should be ok.

I also watched Jago’s Christmas stream and I had a mini jumpscare when he said my name as he saw op my tweet reply to him. But it was sweet.

I then started another audio of the Paternoster Gang which was such a good finale to the third boxset, though I split it between then and yesterday cause I went tired.

Yesterday I watched The Muppet Christmas Carol (forever a classic! Though it was a later watch this year) then the newer Lion King since it was on tv. It was ok, but it felt a bit… unnecessary? I think it improved once Timon and Pumbaa showed up, though it was still… odd. Last night I watched Death In Paradise too which was pretty good as always. I love Neville’s mum and hope she comes back.

Today my head was a bit fuzzy, but once it eased up a bit I watched Last Christmas on iplayer which was… ok but it did give me feels. (I mostly watched for Michelle Yeoh). Then I put on Emperor’s New Grove cause it’s always fun.

I’ve also done a little Baldur’s Gate 3 these past days and I finished the dank crypt though damn combat is still pretty tricky. I guess it’ll be easier once we’ve levelled up and have more health cause we keep dying.

Lastly, thoughts on the Doctor Who Christmas special (put last so people can avoid it). But before getting to them properly was sad to hear that Richard Franklin, who played Mike Yates in third doctor’s eps, has sadly passed away. That was so sad to hear.

My brain has been fluctuating lately between anxiety and not which has been so incredibly exhausting. I know part of the anxiety is due to a uni assessment which feels overwhelming and isn’t helped by the uni site being slow and annoying.

Yesterday I also lost a morning by being up at the library. I have borrowed two Doctor Who kids books I’d never seen before so that was a plus and I did read some of the new who magazine and some of my book. Following that was the food shop which was draining too.

And ugh, why is the government so fucking… ARGH! I do not understand how anyone can support the ridiculous Rwanda bill which they’re desperately shoving through and trying to claim people want (no one wants it and it wasn’t on the manifesto so they have no mandate for it). It’s just an exercise in performative cruelty and lawbreaking at this point.

I’m tempted to send our useless prick of an MP a message to find out why he voted for it. What about the bill did he like? Was it that it has wasted 4 million of taxpayers money already? Was it that it’ll violate international law? Was it because it claims Rwanda is safe country despite all guidance saying it’s not?

Even if you think asylum seekers are a problem that needs solving (not an opinion i hold) why would you support this bill? It’s already a waste of money and it would only send about 100 people (in exchange for 100, which they seem to forget about) so how is that supposed to help? if you really care about this issue then put money into getting applications processed better, not this.

UGH!

Sorry about the politics rant but as you can tell this pisses me off. This incompetent government needs to go because it cannot do anything that’s solves anything. (Don’t get me started on the covid enquiry either, my for you is full of things from it and each one pisses me off. These people should be nowhere near positions of power and should be in prison)

Anyway.

I had hoped to get Devil In Me done but between creative inspiration and the tiredness yesterday. However I am really loving the atmosphere of it. The saw vibes are now fully on display (one thing was even like one of the traps, but with mannequins) and I honestly love how spooky and suspenseful it is. I had hoped to finish it before the Ranboo does it on the subathon since he’s meant to (hopefully I’ll get to go on it during a lull in the subathon).

Today I got the new Christmas radio times issue and there’s some good things on over Christmas/new year. There’s some new year and Christmas specials which look good (Bake Off, Pottery Throw Down, Sister Boniface, Doctor Who, Death In Paradise) and some shows are starting up again (theres a famous five adaption that might be the start of a series but I’m not sure, there’s Madame Blanc and Father Brown too). And The Empty Man is back on tv so i can finally watch it and finish it!

The strangest thing of all that I saw in my quick flick through? That on Christmas Day is the Addams Family 2 on BBC1. It’s a strange choice, but it’s the new animated one and I’ve not seen it so I’ll be watching.

Anyway, Doctor Who thoughts under the cut.

My brain is still very much anxiety filled. It felt like it was making progress but then it’s kinda gone the other way and it feels like I’ve been fighting a battle with my brain. But eh, onto better things.

I finished House of ashes Friday and it ended up being pretty good. It was definitively better than I expected it to be (ok so my expectations were low so) but the ending was satisfying. And everyone managed to survive! Which is a first in the series as the others ended up with people dying (or ā€˜dying’ in the case of little hope) before the end. I’m definitely looking forward to starting Devil In Me this week though, because of the kinda saw vibes from the whole thing.

Yesterday I ended up watching two films on tv. First was The Red Turtle, which was one partly by Studio Gibhli but I feel I didn’t really get it. Then there was Muppets In Space which is fun but not one of the best. Maybe I’ll put on Muppet Treasure Island soon (which, with Muppet Christmas Carol, are objectively the best muppets things).

Some deliveries came yesterday too, so I have my Lego Star Wars advent calendar (yay!) and my body pillow which now has the shoto cover on and it’s just so… BIG. I set it up this morning so hopefully it’ll be nice to snuggle (or at provide a barrier so stuffs doesn’t fall off the bed)

Then there was Who which I’ll save for the end of the post for those that wanna avoid spoilers.

After that I unexpectedly watched Freddie’s charity stream. I thought he was cute, but I’d not watched much of his stuff (he’s kinda just been there in vids I’ve seen and even with this I watched cause others were there) but damn he was unexpectedly buff and his new red hair is such a look.

There was also a Fortnite even last night but the timing was terrible (around who) and then the servers fucked up so they had to do a redo (which I was up for causa watching Lethal Company streams). And the update has also been such a pain.

Today it’s been rainy and cold and my heads been odd. I watched Poirot (which wasn’t one of the best despite having Ariadne in it) and was debating about skipping the Dungeons and Dodongos session to nap However I’m glad I did.

First off it was so fun and funny. Everyone had me laughing so hard and the things they were doing (because it was mostly a break between main quest stuff). That would’ve been great on it’s own (I certainly needed the laugh) but James had decided to bring in one of my favourite Twilight Princess characters as an NPC so my character could be research buddies with him. I dunno what power he had to decide to pick him since I’d never bought it up before but AHHH that was just so! Honestly that’s so perfect and I hope i can find stuff for him so we can get more interactions in the future.

Next time we might be doing sidequests, so I might see if Ahno can learn to ride a horse (who knows if zora and horses mix!)

Anyway now I’m gonna watch Planet Earth III and then probably nap (I’m annoyed at brain fog meaning I can’t fic and do other things like I hoped). I’m ending now with thoughts on Who but they will be spoilers so for those that haven’t seen, I hope you get to watch soon but for now there’ll be a cut.

This is another Doctor Who related post, mainly about the three eps that I watched in the last days.

First The Five Doctors, which is the last ep on the season 20 boxset, which I watched Wednesday.

The Five Doctors has a special place in my heart, because it’s the very first classic Who episode that I ever watched. I think it is a good jumping on point for people, because it has a bit of everything, but that can also be a downfall as it’s so busy there’s not enough time for certain things to get highlighted.

On the boxset was a new 40th anniversary edition of the episode, which is the one I watched, I’m not sure how much was new, other than an updated time scoop effect. I still think it’s a pretty good ep and I think the story is pretty clever, but again, it has so many elements which can be a bit to its detriment. Still it’s nice seeing Susan and Sarah Jane and everyone again!

I’m sure I had further thoughts but my brain is a little fuzzy, and has been for a few days annoyingly.

There’s a lot of extra features on the discs for it which I’ve not seen yet, but I’m excited to watch the two main ones where the doctor and companion actors go on a road trip together which looks so funny.

The second ep was even older, but was even more noticeably different. This was the Daleks in colour. I’m in two minds about the ep as a whole though. First off it looks absolutely amazing, seeing it in vibrant colour is so beautiful and I get the feeling more such colourisations are coming (especially with that last trailer with clips of other eps in colour)

On the other hand this was also a new edit of the episode. At first it seemed to improve the pacing a bit, which is good since some of the oldest Who eps can be long and too stretched out. However about half way through the pacing and cuts just seemed odd and it felt like things were going too fast, especially once the Thals were introduced. So yeah it felt very very… strange. Maybe it was down to my fuzzy head for thinking that but

None Who wise I’ve not got much in the Black Friday sales. I had been holding off getting anything to get Shoto’s necklace… only to find the company doesn’t ship to the uk unless you spend $200 which is so fucked. I missed out on a few Black Friday things as a result but nothing too special. (I did order a Wilbur hoodie though). My main annoyance is a game at Game isn’t in stock anywhere near me and shipping it from them would negate the saving.

Mums friend came yesterday so I had to go to town which ended up draining me so much despite me not doing all that much. I got one who figures from b and m’s Black Friday sale, but it wasn’t much of a discount (but I couldn’t resist the fancy time Lord outfits).

I had been hoping to do other things these past days, namely game on Xbox and such, but my heads been fuzzy and I’ve been distracted by streams and such.

Yesterday was also new Who! I have so many thoughts! But them I’m gonna put them under the cut so peopke can avoid spoilers.
