My brain has been fluctuating lately between anxiety and not which has been so incredibly exhausting. I know part of the anxiety is due to a uni assessment which feels overwhelming and isn’t helped by the uni site being slow and annoying.

Yesterday I also lost a morning by being up at the library. I have borrowed two Doctor Who kids books I’d never seen before so that was a plus and I did read some of the new who magazine and some of my book. Following that was the food shop which was draining too.

And ugh, why is the government so fucking… ARGH! I do not understand how anyone can support the ridiculous Rwanda bill which they’re desperately shoving through and trying to claim people want (no one wants it and it wasn’t on the manifesto so they have no mandate for it). It’s just an exercise in performative cruelty and lawbreaking at this point.

I’m tempted to send our useless prick of an MP a message to find out why he voted for it. What about the bill did he like? Was it that it has wasted 4 million of taxpayers money already? Was it that it’ll violate international law? Was it because it claims Rwanda is safe country despite all guidance saying it’s not?

Even if you think asylum seekers are a problem that needs solving (not an opinion i hold) why would you support this bill? It’s already a waste of money and it would only send about 100 people (in exchange for 100, which they seem to forget about) so how is that supposed to help? if you really care about this issue then put money into getting applications processed better, not this.

UGH!

Sorry about the politics rant but as you can tell this pisses me off. This incompetent government needs to go because it cannot do anything that’s solves anything. (Don’t get me started on the covid enquiry either, my for you is full of things from it and each one pisses me off. These people should be nowhere near positions of power and should be in prison)

Anyway.

I had hoped to get Devil In Me done but between creative inspiration and the tiredness yesterday. However I am really loving the atmosphere of it. The saw vibes are now fully on display (one thing was even like one of the traps, but with mannequins) and I honestly love how spooky and suspenseful it is. I had hoped to finish it before the Ranboo does it on the subathon since he’s meant to (hopefully I’ll get to go on it during a lull in the subathon).

Today I got the new Christmas radio times issue and there’s some good things on over Christmas/new year. There’s some new year and Christmas specials which look good (Bake Off, Pottery Throw Down, Sister Boniface, Doctor Who, Death In Paradise) and some shows are starting up again (theres a famous five adaption that might be the start of a series but I’m not sure, there’s Madame Blanc and Father Brown too). And The Empty Man is back on tv so i can finally watch it and finish it!

The strangest thing of all that I saw in my quick flick through? That on Christmas Day is the Addams Family 2 on BBC1. It’s a strange choice, but it’s the new animated one and I’ve not seen it so I’ll be watching.

Anyway, Doctor Who thoughts under the cut.

Ok if you’ve not seen the last anniversary special don’t look further as spoilers.

Now there’s been a few days and I probably should have done this sooner (damn stupid brain) so i might miss stuff but here we go.

The Giggle has some really creepy vibes and honestly i loved that, even though the central issue (essentially a rage plague caused by the giggle) felt a bit like it fell by the wayside a bit and might have been better without it.

The start was so creepy and honestly the Toymaker was a good choice to bring back, though at the same time the choice was a little odd. Bringing back a character from the first doctor era, whose only tv appearance was deleted, is a bold choice but Neil Patrick Harris made it his own. My two favourite bits with him was the scene where he bought out puppets of companions that died and then the absolutely wild scene where he showed up dancing to Spice Up Your Life. It’s completely insane but i loved it.

I loved UNIT coming back as it’s always good to see Kate and it was nice to see Shirley again so soon. But also there was Mel there (who I thought i saw in the background of some promo pics). Now when Mel was announced returning I was a bit indifferent, because she’s not a companion I had attachment too (i think possibly because she never had a proper intro so we never really learned much about her). However in this ep, I felt they did more character work with her than her whole season of appearances in old Who and I’m actually looking forward to her coming back (which is confirmed because there’s a pic of her with 15).

I was so worried that something would happen to Donna so I’m glad nothing did as she was so badass (with the puppets, recognising the wavelength of the giggle was a sound and just generally being awesome). I love her so much and her being offered a place at UNIT means she could return again (please! I feel it’s inevitable with Rose coming back). And the ending scene was so sweet.

But let’s deal with the main thing, the bi regeneration. (Apparently it was leaked, but i missed it.) Honestly I don’t have a problem with it, it really works. 14 gets to be happy and rest (with Donna! And Rose!) and 15 gets to travel. And same 15 is so great! I can just tell I’m gonna love him because he I loved how he was in the episode. The Christmas ep is so soon and I hope it ends with a new series trailer/date.

So yeah I really loved it, I think it was a great ep. (And oop that was a ramble)

I feel like choosing the Toymaker is a nod that we are 'starting over' in some ways, and would love to see if this pans out on a different slant to the show, OR, a return to something history focused between space allegories.

Another friend stated that the bigeneration really does pave the way for the Valeyard's origin in some ways. Though he could also be a spin off from the second lady Doctor we saw during ... Thirteen's? time.

I'm interested to see what the Master winds up being like (the tooth) and I AM IN LOVE WITH NCUTI! OMG, he made me so happy. There's a vibe to him that feels Classic Confidence and New Energy.

The government have been rage making lately. Not that that's anything new.

Like I said, I enjoyed the new Who episode, the Toymaker was a good foe and I was surprised by the split at the end, and liked the little details like how they had half an outfit each.

I'm looking forward to the Christmas ep now.

I was quite suprised when I saw they were going to bring back the Toymaker. Not at all a character I would ever have thought would make an appearance in New Who. It seems it worked well though so apparently they new what they were doing ;-)

I hadn't heard about Mel but if I had I would probably have thought the same as I did about the Toymaker - not someone I would have expected to come back. Still, there aren't THAT many of the old companions still alive. And even fewer interested in appearing again, I expect. In any case it's nice to hear she had a good episode.

PS Many hugs!!

Good to hear it's arrived! I think this is the earliest I've managed to send my cards in years - I'm feeling so accomplished :-)

All of this about the Rwanda bill like what an absolute waste of money, nevermind the inherently unethical it is.
