shadowhive: (5up Pretty)
So I’m back from the Birmingham trip, which was in some ways sucessful in some ways not.

I went pretty early and getting there was ok. I did consider stopping off in town to pop to the Smyths to get the Lego polybag they were giving out, but I just couldn’t be bothered with the extra trouble. So instead I just started some of I Want a that Twink Obliterated. I mostly read the introduction which was fun and a lil of the first story (I couldn’t on the way back cause I was standing for a good chunk so I will tomorrow.

At the station I went in the Smiths and got the latest Kerrang (it has Andy from BVB but I dunno why I got it cause I’ve not heard them in so long) and looked for SFX. This was the main failing of the day. I hoped to find the Halloween Terrifier issue somewhere but, despite going everywhere, I couldn’t find one (so if anyone 8n the uk spots it please get it for me, I’ll gladly pay cause it’s out of stock online and is £30 on eBay which… ugh).

On the plus side I got the Krispy Kreme birthday donut ok which was nice.

First forbidden planet was next, which said it had a Halloween event instore but it was a bit… eh. There didn’t seem to be the promised discounts or anything (just the usual ones) and the lady at the till didn’t even seem to know that she was meant to give me a ticket for buying stuff (so just gave me sweets, which yay sweets but still). I got the Alien Romulus prequel comic (which I read on the way back and it was pretty good! In true alien fashion there is one sane woman who everyone ignores, though she does also doom everyone so…) and I got two funkos, Qimir from the acolyte (who is out of stock everywhere, I almost got Yord too but figured I could in a few weeks) and I also got a reduced Man-Thing (called Ted). I didn’t even know he was in Werewolf By Night so that gives me more reason to watch at last! I did get two of the Halloween free comics, a Star Wars one and Venom one.

Then I went in a few places but didn’t get much. I got a Princess Leia puzzle from TK, a game called Sojourner from the Game outlet (for 79p!) and a Halloween mystery bag. I only opened it at the station and it has some Halloween tights, a wind up hand and test tube drinking things (which look pretty cool).

This leads to another thing, there was hardly any Halloween stuff about. I hoped to get a Halloween crafty thing cause I’ve not been in the spirit as much. Alas I found nothing. Even worse, the Christmas market is already set up ready to go. It’s not open yet but still. Ugh.

Next was the other forbidden planet and I got some nice things there. I got some recent Star Wars comics (the first 2 The Battle Of Jakku ones, including a phantom menace cover and an Ewok knew). But the other things that I got reduced were better. I picked up the Henry funko that was reduced last time (despite not seeing him in Stranger Things yet), a Pyke soldier black series (I wanted causa Solo but also Outlaws) but the last two were the best. There was a fancy Star Wars pop up advent calendar for £4.99! (I had a similar Nightmare Before Christmas one and it was so nice) and there was an Agatha Harkness figure for less than half off! There was only one of her so I carried her all around the store when I saw her. (I did have to go back cause the tags weren’t deactivated right) they also had the Halloween comics which was a surprise so I got one of each so I did get the full set after all.

Then I went in hmv, again to search for SFX. All I got was a steampunk skull asking Alexandria tee and Smile (the blu ray was cheap when you bought something). But this brings me to another annoyance, I hoped to get a stranger thing thing for my friend but there was hardly anything around which is so strange cause hmv had bigger sections last time.

Another annoyance, I went in game hoping they’d have the Lego sets for the price online but alas nope. Then again the prices online were ludicrous (the new animal crossing ones were half off) so maybe they were mistakes to begin with.

I had noms which was a bit disappointing. I had a Halloween McFlurry with my food but it was eh. The rest of the food was good though.

Before the film I went in the bullring, I got the Lego Halloween set from a very busy lego store (they had face painting) and was amused by the guy behind me having the sets I had on my birthday. Also a+ choice having the new Lord of the rings tower on display right as you come in, it’s so impressive. Then I got halted chocolate to use bpm code. I got some Halloween chocolates to try and, bonus, they had samples of the new fire and ice chocolate which was nice. I also found an SFX, but it was the Agatha All Along one which I later found was last months so why it was still out I dunno.

Then I went to the cinema for the film. I got a free freebies going in (a poster for venom, a model of the robot from wild robot and something from transformers). There was a load of trailers.
*LOTR War Of The Rhohirrum (spelled badly no doubt): it looks so damn pretty, I wanna see
*The monkey - looks like it could be promising, but could also be a bit much, still I’m curious
*Kraven - looks a bit… eh, but then that could be cause I’m not fussed on Krvaen as a whole
*The wolfman - could be good, could not be I’m not sure
*Nosferatu - feels like it nails the atmosphere so I might watch just not at cinemas
*Companion (could be companionship?) - I’m kinda curious, but I dunno
*Heretic - Honestly I’m curious about Hugh Grant in a horror role, though the religious symbolism could be a bit much.

Thoughts on Smile 2 under the cut, though not major spoilers

I went straight to the station, got past the barrier and… missed the train, so was stuck there for half an hour. It didn’t help that wi fi was spotty so I couldn’t let more know and there was no food that seemed appealing. Then the train was busy (though I did eventually get to sit and read Alien Romulus) and worse, when I got back I had to pick up dog food which weighed heavy and made me tired.

Now I’m gonna flop and maybe watch something spooky but maybe just snuggle. Tomorrow I’m gonna watch the ghost stories on bbc4, plus Alex Kingston reading Frankenstein which I’ve been curious about. And hopefully I can work on stuff too.
shadowhive: (Cinnamoroll Spooky boy)
So I thought about making a post after Smile 2, since I am gonna try and see it tomorrow, but I figure I should make a general post tonight beforehand first.

The past few nights have been a bit random really. I got possessed by inspiration to do a fic and then my focus has been a bit more off.

It hasn’t helped that mum is making my anxiety peak again. The doctor said she was sending intro on what the thing on the back was, but it hasn’t arrived yet so mum is getting worked up about that, as well as a call from the hospital about whatever the meeting was. I’m trying to be less worried, but of course her getting worked up isn’t helping and is impacting me. Knowing my luck something will come when I’m out tomorrow, but at least I won’t be around to hear it.

However! Good news the stuff I preordered from Arrow came. First there is a new 4K blu ray of Trick R Treat, which is the first 4k of anything I’ve had. I’m looking forward to watching it on Halloween (as usual) as well as reading the included comic and watching the special features. The second thing is the J-Horror Rising boxset which I’m so looking forward to checking out. There’s a bunch of art cards with it, as well as a booklet of things which I’ll check out soon. I was gonna try and watch the first films these past nights, but, alas, I’ve not had the focus for subtitles which is so annoying. Hopefully I can make a start this weekend.

And speaking of Trick R Treat there’s a new kickstarter for a graphic novel by the guy that made it so I’m gonna back it soon (it’s here

Also annoyingly the net went down Wednesday (mostly annoying cause I missed a Seapeekay stream) but I got it fixed by changing the wires but ugh.

I did got on Zelda Echoes Of Wisdom and ahhh! I got the cat outfit from an amiibo and I love talking to all the cats, they’re so cute and sweet and adorable and funny.

And now I’m on to spooky things (again like last post I’m using [personal profile] rhoda_rants style.

Wednesday - Stranger Things - The Pollywog

Since inspiration struck Tuesday I switched Stranger Things to Wednesday. This one made me think awww Dustin cause he was cute looking into the thing he found. Though also keeping that thing felt like such a bad idea. Like it’s harmless so far but it feels it won’t be for long.

Also damn Billy why were you shirtless in gym and so close to Steve huh? I know what you are.

Because of that, and the Halloween event, I went on Dead By Daylight and did a few rounds as Steve. And. After saying I might get some idea with him in it I started a thing tonight. Oop.

Thursday -Agatha All Along/Dracula Prince Of Darkness

Agatha All Along continues to be such a great show and this was such a good ep. It was told in such a strange way with all the skips, yet it worked. And also they used real fucking swords that fell from the ceiling??

That night there was a Christopher Lee documentary which I watched, which was interesting but also a little sad. He led an amazing life, seeing the last death by guillotine in France, being a nazi hunter during the war and that’s before you go into all the films he was in. And it’s so sweet how obviously proud he was to be both in Lord Of The Rings and Star Wars, so he’d be remembered in those roles.

Following on from it was on of the Dracula films he did. I’d never seen any of them so thought it’d be interesting to watch, but… It’s an interesting concept, Dracula has already been defeated and the locals are still Ray about his castle, pretending it doiesnt exist and not going near it. Turns out that’s for good reason as travellers, who get stranded by a suspicious local, end up going there and be manipulated, with one being killed to bring him back.

All of that is pretty good, the locals and travellers are all pretty well played, as is the creepy butler. Then Dracula is revived and… he doesn’t say a single word throughout, he just hisses and it feels like a waste. According to tv tropes he had lines, but he refused to say them which… I guess means they were terrible. So yeah it was a bit of a shame?

Friday

I did intend to watch something (either more Stranger Things, start J-Horror Rising, or get back to American Horror story but my focus started to fade during Ghost Files which is a shame. So all I did that’s spooky is watch Ghost Files and do some more Dead By Daylight (why does the Xenomorph just grab people by the throat and carry them like that?)

I did listen to Into The Tardis: Primord part 2 which is starting to get interesting. It’s well acted though you can’t help but be a little sad how many actors have had to be recast for it (it’s third Doctor era, so the Brigadier, Liz and the third doctor are all new people).

Tomorrow I’m hoping to see Smile 2 as well as get things so I’ll do a post on thoughts then.

I have a bunch of spooky things that I meant to watch and do over October though between being sick, the anxiety over medical issues and lack of focus I’ve not done many so I’m gonna do them in November.nthings I intend to watch soon are

Blu Rays
*J-Horror Rising
*Saw
*Five Nights At Freddy’s
*Lifeforce
*The Sacred Spirit
*Audition
*Trick R Treat (on Halloween)

Disney+
*Agatha All Along series finale eps (on Halloween)
*Hocus Pocus 2
*Nightmare Before Christmas (probably Wednesday)
*American Horror Story (hopefully, I’m hoping my friend is up to watching again)

Netflix
*Cabinet Of Curiosities (finishing the last half)
*Smile

Prime
*Spree
*Gods Of The Deep

Shudder
*Uzumaki
*Terrifier (maybe?)
*VHS 85
*The Mortuary Collection (I dunno why but I wanna rewatch)

Games
*Song Of Horror (get back to it)
*Dredge

I’m sure I’m missing a bunch of things for every one of those, but those are the main ones I can think of.

Anyway now I’m gonna snuggle and hopefully sleep if Leia lets me.
shadowhive: (15/Rogue Kiss)
So Sunday was my birthday, which wasn’t too exciting. The few gifts I got were mostly Lego so I spent time building them. Before lunch I built the minecraftt birthday set which is a cute collection of animals (plus cake and a creeper). The creeper is the best built, cause it’s big and the fox is the cutest, but they’re all adorable. It’s a cute lil set.

The second one was the Lego Fortnite llama which is so cute and so big! There’s a lot of lil parts to it which can get frustration (cause colours look similar) and one part is missing (I think it was switched for another cause there was a part that’s not listed) but y pretty looking. And it’s impressive it stands on just four lil legs (and is quite big!)

Between the two builds was Hocus Pocus, then Dungeons and dodongos which was fun (though Leia decided she wanted attention and to block the cam). Then there was cake, which had sank in the middle which was funny. When mum called me to see I expected a lil dip, but instead it was like a sizeable one, making it look more like a donut. I wish I’d took a pic.

Then in the night I went on Zelda then watched the last two Hauntings eps, which weren’t as good as the first two alas.

There was a bunch of email birthday wishes from companies, some with codes and some are just. There’s two good ones, a free donut from Krispy Kreme (as long as I get in store by the month is out) and a £5 hotel chocolat one (which lasts a month and there’s no minimum spend). But the other two I might’ve used have annoyingly short times. There’s a Set It Off and Rock Sound one, but both only last 7 days so are useless (if only they were ten instead so they’d go to when the next money goes in). Sigh.

Other good things recent ply has been mail, cause a few things have come.

The physical Sleep Token ticket came on Wednesday (before the call) and I’m glad there’s a physical one cause so many are digital which isn’t the same. Before then there was the Lego order mum did, which included those sets as well as the light up pumpkin promo! It’s so cute and the light is quite bright (though it’s only on when you press on it).

On Friday the new Dungeons and dragons adventurer came, which had purple dice with the magazines (I need to look at the tin one properly) as well as a d100. It’s in a fancy wooden box and made of metal so is hefty. I dunno when I’ll use it but it could definitely knock someone out. Then yesterday came the anxiety fox pocket pal that I backed awhile back, with a few freebies. He’s just a lil guy, though I worry his hood will come off.

On its way is the j-horror rising boxset, so that should come tomorrow, along with the 4K Trick R Treat. It’s my first 4k thing, but apparently my Xbox can play it so fingers crossed.

Also When We Were Young was this weekend and, while I’ve not seen much from it I have seen pics of Ray and I can feel something awaken again because damn he looks so pretty.

Spooky stuff over the past few days.

Saturday - The Blair Witch Project

This was on tv so I decided to watch it, since it had been so long since I’d last seen it. For what it is it was well done and you have admire everyone involved for its success (apparently it made over $1000 for each $1 that it cost, and also a lot was improvised by the cast). Though it’s also a little tame. Yeah it’s got some unsettling parts, but the end just feels a bit sudden. Though I guess that’s the point, to leave things with no answers. I have the follow up somewhere so I might watch that sometime.

Before it I also went on Steamworld Heist 2 which is kinda spooky? I wanted to do a level before Blair Witch and of course I picked one that was annoying with a sudden surprise boss fight (and then ended up dying just as I figured it out).

Sunday - Hocus Pocus

I wanted to watch something spooky for my birthday but wasn’t sure what. I did consider doing the next Marple ep instead, but time got limited so I switched to Hocus Pocus. Which, you know, it’s a classic. It’s fun and I Put A Spell On You is such a great musical number. It’s one of those films where you feel that everyone was having a good time. I’m glad I ended up watching it.

I also went on Zelda Echoes Of Wisdom, which again, counts as spooky. I ended up doing Gerudo Sanctum Sunday and then Hyrule Castle Monday (which also included the hardest boss fight so far, I need to make more smoothies). I am loving it so much so far and I got a cat outfit from one of the amiibo so now Zelda can talk to cats!

Like I said in the post I also watched Hauntings which was ok. The first one was the best cause of how unsettling it was, (cause of the violent nature of it) but the second felt more… vague? I dunno.

Today - Rogue

This morning I finished the Novel of Rogue, my fav Doctor Who ep of the last season. I read the last 12 chapters today. It gave a bit more insight into the Chuldur and the last scene (showing that Rogue was alive and waiting for the Doctor), just gave me feels. Please Doctor find him again, I need it.

Tonight I intend to watch Stranger Things some more, but we’ll see what my energy is like.

The rest of the week there aren’t that many plans. The main thing is waiting for mail (both with medical info and the blu rays) and then Thursday night sky arts has a Christopher Lee documentary which looks interesting (followed by a showing of his version of Dracula which I’ve not seen).

The other main thing I wanna do is see Smile 2, though it’s deciding where. I can see it in town at the local cinema, which has the plus side of being the cheaper option but the negative side being that, because it’s a late showing, I’d have to walk back home. At least the roadworks has finished so I don’t have to take the long way but…

The other option is to go to Birmingham to the Odeon, most likely on the Saturday because there’s a Halloween event at Forbidden Planet with freebies and giveaways. The downside is, again, timing cause I won’t exactly have much money to get things but it should still be a nice time. I guess it depends on the weather (I still have to walk to the station) but at least it’d be an earlier showing than town. (And it also depends id there’s a need to go to the hospital, which I’m still wary of.

So I guess we’ll see. (Plus I’ve still not seen Smile again like I intended cause of everything)

Anyway, I’ve rambled enough so now I’m going to snuggle, maybe fic and watch QI
shadowhive: (c!Eret Take my hand)
The past few days have been so rough and I’m so.. ugh. I dunno if I’ve picked something up but my sleep schedule is still so fucked, mostly cause my body has wanted to drink all the time which has meant I’ve had to go to the bathroom constantly and can’t settle. Everytime I think I’m over it it comes back and it’s just so exhausting.

It’s not helped by having a phone call scheduled for Thursday which is really peaking my anxiety already but ugh.

Anyway onto the main part of the post before I get bogged down.

A few posts back I mentioned what my spooky plans for the past week were. I ended up doing just one. That’s a mix of things, partly due to the aforementioned illness but also because Seapeekay played through Until Dawn last week at nights. That totally counts as a spooky thing to watch though, even though the last part was when I lost connection so I missed some. I dunno if I’ll play it myself, but I’m curious how the film version is gonna play out.

The one thing I did watch from my list was Stranger Things, so I started season 2 with the first ep. Thankfully it had a recap cause it’s been so long since I saw season 1 and it feels very much like a set up episode, establishing where everyone is since then. The opening scene was unexpected and I’m curious what a few things mean (Will’s visions, the pumpkins) and I love that they included a shot that panned to Billy’s ass. Also yay Mike for having a Millennium falcon!

Thursday was the next day I watched spooky things, which was Agatha All Along which featured a reveal everyone expected and a scene that made me almost yell out nooo. Then in the night was the finale of The Swarm. The show as a whole was an interesting idea, with an ancient life form weaponising the seas and I liked the global nature of it, but the last ep felt odd. Mainly cause a third way through the ep there was a shift from ‘let’s communicate with this thing’ to ‘we've found a way to harm it let’s test it’ which predictably was a bad idea.

Friday had the new Ghost Files starting which, yay! Though it was so wild especially since the words ‘my soft fleshy hole’ were uttered which was crazy.

Saturday was a drained day though I did have the focus to watch a new to me film that was on tv, Us. Thoughts under a cut cause it’s newish.

Yesterday was a few spooky things. I watched Hotel Transylvania 2 which was a lot of fun (despite not watching the first one) and I wanna see the follow up (cause it has Kathryn Hahn!) and the third is showing on my birthday so I might watch depending on the time.

That night I watched something called Hauntings which was investigations into real life Hauntings. The first two were on last night and the two were completely different vibes. Partly it’s cause the first was in the uk and the second was us but also the second one had family members in it while the first didn’t. There’s two more on next week and I think that’s all there is which is a shame as it’s good!

Right after it there was a showing of the original The Wicker Man, which I’d never seen. I was curious about it cause I’d heard good things (and Christopher Lee is in it and there’s a documentary with him next week) so I checked it out. What surprised me about it was just how much singing there was in it, I expected something at the end but there was guide a bit of it throughout.

I’m a big fan of investigation based horror (which I guess this falls under though it was more mystery than horror) but damn the guy investigating it was just so damn unlikeable. He was religious and could not stop bringing it up though out the whole thing, which definitely became grating (and I wasn’t sad about his fate).

It has made me curious about the remake though I’ve heard it’s… questionable.

Anyway now I’m gonna snuggle with Midna, watch Ranboo’s stream and hopefully get some rest.
shadowhive: (Krowfang Parasol)
So the past few days have ended up being draining which is mostly due to Thursday. It’s time for Naryu’s annual jabs. The trouble has been on Tuesday night we found out the phone died so we couldn’t just call up and book, so the plan was to just go and turn up (I secretly hoped it would rain so it could be delayed a few more days). However mum emailed them in the morning and managed to get us a slot but only told me an hour before, so there was no time to eat and we just had to go.

I assumed it’d just be in and out (and I could check for Halloween stuff in m and s and check for SFX in sainsburys) but alas that didn’t work out.

Not cause of the check up which was a relief. This time she was fine and had no issues, but mum decided ‘since we were there’ to see if she could get a grooming appointment in the attached groomers. And they could do it right then. So now instead of just coming home we had to stay there for 2 hours which was far from ideal.

We went in tk maxx and, disappointingly, the Halloween section is now basically nothing already. The display upstairs is now Christmas which is annoying so all there was now was one shelving unit by the stairs, ugh. Then we went to sainsburys and I got a lil Lego set (a Jurassic Park one, with the jeep Nedry steals and crashes with the dino he encounters) and got the nightmare before Christmas tote they have. I went in m and s and they don’t have Halloween food but I did get the ghost train tin.

Of course when we got Naryu they said there was an issue cause they found fleas so mum panicked and got some flea stuff and then as soon as we got home insisted on doing it. Note at this point I was drained (both in terms of tiredness, hungry, socially and money wise) and just wanted to flop and rest. It didn’t help she told me to stay in the kitchen with the girls while also complaining with she was doing it alone.

We left at 10 and I wasn’t able to sit back down and eat until almost 5, which was annoying. At least the Agatha All Along ep was really good, as they are and it even included a new version of the song.

But ugh that whole thing really drained me. It didn’t help on Friday a man came to sort the phone and then Saturday mum’s friend came (though at least I didn’t have to go to town, though I had wanted to this time).

Sigh.

So continuing on from the last post vhs thoughts. I had hoped to watch 99 and 85 before Friday but alas I couldn’t watch 85 before Beyond like I hoped.

VHS 99

Segment 1: 7.5/10
Segment 2: 7/10
Segment 3: 7.5/10
Segment 4: 7/10
Segment 5: 8/10

Overall 99 was really strong I thought. Instead of a traditional wrap around there was stop motion shorts which were well down but led into the fourth segment. I did love that the fourth one also utilised a gorgon and I feel more things should have Greek mythology based horror (and Egyptian too).

Then on Friday there was the new VHS! VHS Beyond. I did almost watch 85 on Friday before it. But decided to just dive right in. (Thoughts under the cut)

VHS beyond
Wraparound: 8/10
Segment 1: 8/10
Segment 2: 9/10
Segment 3: 8/10
Segment 4: 8/10
Segment 5: 8/10

I was gonna watch 85 last night but might tonight or tomorrow.

Friday I was able to get back on Echoes of Wisdom and I went to Jabul Waters because I’m a sucker for Zora stuff.

Other gaming thing I’ll have to speed run the fall guys and Fortnite passes cause I didn’t realise they were almost over but both have spooky ones coming up. Fingers crossed I can do them (though I’m annoyed at Lego fortnite as I lost my inventory pack and can I find it? No cause the marker isn’t working for some reason)

Last night my mood went down really hard which was so annoying and that continued to this morning. It was was so annoying. Is this a sign more downswings are ahead? I hope not. I’m just gonna have to try and distract myself from them which… ugh..

Thankfully it eased up for todays dungeons and dodongos though t was annoying that both the laptop needed updates and the lamp next to the bed seems to have messed up so I couldn’t use the cam. The session was good though it does make me wanna go on Majora’s Mask again (is it on the switch’s 64 thing?). Also I noticed the small Ranboo particle is awol and I couldn’t find it when I searched so I have no idea where it’s gone and it’s gonna bug me.

Other good things. I won a Ranboo particle tee on their stream the other day so that should be here in a few days (it’s already in the country) and I had a Magnus Archives tee with the fears come (cause it was on sale) which looks so pretty.

It’s two weeks till my birthday, which ugh. I’ll probably just flop with cake and dnd.

Next weeks spooky stuff plans:
*Finish reading Rogue, start I Want That Twink Obliterated
*Start Stranger Things season 2 finally
*Get back to Song Of Horror (or some other spooky game)
*Watch Smile on Netflix and Uzumaki on shudder
*Start the horror baking thing on Amazon prime (I’ve forgot the name)

I’m sure I was gonna post something else too but it’s gone out of my head.

So it’s time for another monthly round up. The time sure has flies. I’ve something for most categories though some still are lacking sadly. (Again, mostly due to health stuff.) So again, no fic which is annoying, as well as no graphic novels (I intended to read the Dead By Daylight one, but the weekend was so dark) and no who audio (although funnily, I did listen to one this morning). I’ve also been chipping away at Rogue though my rough sleeping has meant I’ve lacked the focus to read more (which sucks!)

However good things! I’ve finished a bunch of things! The Magnus Protocol season 1 (bar the epilogue), Star Wars Outlaws (like I said it’s so fun!), Tears Of The Kingdom (finally! More on that later) and the Mallorca Files (fun as always). Also I finished the Ju-On boxset and the physical VHS films (again more on those later). And, after months of lack of focus, I’m back to watching things on shudder, and not just for VHS! The first Horror’s Greatest is fun.

Plus I saw Alien Romulous, thoughts which I posted a few weeks back.

I still need to watch the rest of Futurama, though it has been really fun and I am continuing Agatha Alll Along (which may be my fave Marvel series) so woo.

I’m hoping this month I can actually write, I have ideas it’s just the will to actually write them and it hasn’t helped having distractions (and pain). Fingers crossed I have something this week!

***

Anyone onto Zelda thoughts which are twofold because I’ve been playing two games.

First is Tears Of The Kingdom. While I had finished the four main regions I still had a bunch of stuff to do. I had intended to goes back to it for months but just… couldn’t. Instead I did a lot of stuff over a few days. The stuff I did:
*Beat Master Kohga in the depths multiple times, including the last one
*Went to Hyrule castle after imposter Zelda
*Found all the tears (which was wild seeing all the cutscenes)
*Did all the stable quests with Penn
*Got the master sword
*found the sage of spirit
*went in the depths beneath the caste and beat Ganondorf

It was a lot to do in such a short time but I somehow locked in and did it. The fight with Ganondorf was really hard, but it was satisfying having all the sages join in. And the last part of the fight (while thankfully easier) was so pretty.

After the credits rolled and the last scene though I couldn’t help but think one thing: did Mineru bring everyone to the island with no way down??

(Of course I have many other thoughts and feelings so if anyone has played please lemme know so we can ramble)

But it was fun and I’m glad I was finally able to lock in and do it (maybe I should get back to skyward sword at some point)

I gave myself a break and then started the new game Echoes Of Wisdom yesterday. (Thoughts this time ipunder a cut cause early game spoilers. For reference I’ve done the first dungeon and on the way to the second, but got sidetracked)

Like I mentioned about I watched more VHS films and I did ratings on twitter as I went along so I’m posting the pm here like I did with the first one the other day. As I watched 2 and Viral it surprised me how few segments I remembered (1 vaguely from 2 and the wrap around and 1 from viral) whereas in 94 I remembered them. I guess it’s cause I’d seen it more recently than 2 and viral.

VHS 2
Wrap around: 6.5/10
Segment 1: 7.5/10
Segment 2: 6/10
Segment 3: 8/10
Segment 4: 6.5/10

I’m glad that vhs 2 had more likeable characters than the first one, and I loved how inventive each of them are (even the second which was the most eh). I’d have rated the last higher if the poor pupper hadn’t got hurt (and implied died). My fav though is the one I remembered, Segment 3 (Safe Haven) which is just so well done and it’s a bold choice for the series to have a subtitled segment so early on.

VHS Viral
Wrap around: 6.5/10
Segment 1: 7.5/10
Segment 2: 7.5/10
Segment 3: 7/10

Viral felt a bit more consistent in terms of quality, though it also had one less segment. (Apparently there was a 4th segment filmed and it’s included on the American release but not on the uk one, which annoyed me as soon as I found out.) The wraparound was a little too disjointed alas, but other than that the first two were really good concepts well executed and the last one was fun too.

VHS 94
Wraparound: 7/10
Segment 1: 8/10
Segment 2: 8/10
Segment 3: 6.5/10
Segment 4: 2.5/10

After the first three films the series changed its format so every segment is set in a particular year (though after three of those the format has seemingly changed again though time will tell if it’s a one off). This one is set in 94 and the first two segments are really strong ones. (The first one especially providing a nice contrast with th documentary style of viral’s first one). However the last two segments are lacking to me. The third, while clearly well done, just didn’t hit with me and the final segment was just so… ugh. (Though maybe it’s cause of the content of it) but the wrap around was pretty good.

I might watch the next one tonight or tomorrow, ish time for the new one on Friday (which I’m hoping to watch release night)

Lastly it’s October 1st, so that makes it officially start of spooky season! I hope everyone has done something spooky today. The Who audio I listen ed to this morning was kinda spooky, then I have the Chucky season 1 finale tonight though boo sky mix at not starting season 2 next week.

So to start the post, as is tradition now, a health update.

So the thing on my back is gone, but the place where it was is still sore and occasionally hurts. I have to still be careful stretching to grab things and sometimes have to lay on my side, but at least it’s less than the thing was. Alas though I’ve had headaches instead, which is likely bought on by the recent bad weather (including a thunderstorm on Saturday) which is annoying.

But anyway, onto other things.

A few days ago I had a delivery, which turned out to be the kickstarter book I backed: I Want That Twink Olbliterated. It’s a sci fi anthology about twinks in various kinds of trouble so I’m looking forward to checking it out over October. I now have a total of three recent books to read after Rogue (alas my focus was off). Other than this there’s Shredded, another horror anthology by the same person that did one I read before and liked, as well as Death In The Stars a Doctor book written by Bonnie Langford herself which sounds intriguing. I might do the anthologies first, reading one a day but we’ll see.

I don’t think I’ll be doing kinktober this year. I still have some holdovers from last year I’ve not finished which I want to. But the bigger issue has been my focus being off and having a major lacking of creativity lately. It’s super annoying but.. ugh. I had considered doing spook me, but again the lack of focus/creativity (plus pain) meant I never did. I might do something along those lines though (likely based on the latest Set It Off song, though annoyingly it has no video). I’m hoping to have something done before the week is out but it depends on my focus.

Last week Agatha All Along started, so I decided to watch and it’s really great so far! The first ep plays out like a Wandavision ep (being a spoof of a detective story for a large part) but damn that ending. That Rio and Agatha fight was one of the most homoerotic fights I’ve seen in awhile! (And I love ‘teen’ too, though I don’t get why they’re concealing his name so much when it’s obvious who he is). The second ep was fun with Agatha getting the coven together and I’m really looking forward to tomorrows ep. But already I feel it’ll be my fav Marvel show.

I’ve also managed to finish season one of the Magnus protocol and damn, that ending left me with so many questions (though was so good). I wonder when we’ll find out what the protocol actually is though.

Speaking of finishing things I finished the Ju-On boxset. Ju-On: The Grudge 2 felt like a more cohesive story than the prior entries, though it also had three things that were less scary more ridiculous which took me out a bit. White Ghost and Black Ghost were each also self contained things, being completely new curses which I think worked really well for the most part. (Though the white ghost wasn’t so much scary as… I dunno the face looked so wrong). Like with watching the Ring box set it’s made me wanna watch the remake ones so I might have to do that at some point.

Because of Outlaws I ended up watching Solo on Sunday and it’s still so fun. I really do love it and think it’s a shame we didn’t get more young Han and especially young Lando (please sort the promised film/series Lucasfilm).

Speaking of Outlaws I played it a bunch lately and completed the questline with Qi’ra, got immense feels for ND-5 and then somehow got to last story quest so I did that. I could kinda see some of the end coming but not completely so was still surprised by some of the twists. But damn I really did love it. It was a lot of fun and I’ve come to really love Kay. Towards the end I couldn’t help but think of Qi’ra’s quote about Han, that she knew who he was and that he was ‘the good guy’ and that really applies to Kay too. The way she was just determined to help save her friends at the end, yeah that shows who she is. I hope we see more of her (there’s at least two dlcs at least) and I hope there’s merch too.

Today I finally, finally, got back to Tears Of The Kingdom after months of saying that I would. I ended up achieving a fair bit already today: I beat Master Kohga three times (including what seems to be the last time), healed the Deku tree, retrieved the master sword and I ended by landing at Hyrule castle. The new game is coming tomorrow but I’m not gonna start it until finishing Tears and I feel close to. (I fully expect Hyrule castle to be the first part of the end game, followed by whatever is in the depths beneath it).

Then tonight I finally started my VHS run with the first film. As the film went on the segments improved, with the last one being my fav (due to how effective the haunted house/possession was). But some parts were a lil rough. The guys in the wrap around were so unlikeable from the start and there was so many instances of guys just being dicks. Im looking forward to watching the others though (I’m hoping to watch 2 tomorrow and viral Friday) cause I know it does improve as it goes on. But I guess we’ll see.

VHS overall ratings
Wrap around: 4/10
Segment 1: 6/10
Segment 2: 6.5/10
Segment 3: 7.5/10
Segment 4: 7.5/10
Segment 5: 8/10

But I’ve rambled a bit so I’m gonna head off and flop.

So like I mentioned the other day I wanted to see Alien Romulus but my choice was seeing it in town (meaning I’d have to walk back home at 9pm) or going to Birmingham (which I knew would be a money sink).

After some pondering I decided on the latter, going to Birmingham yesterday (so I was out from about 10:20am till 6:15pm), which was a pretty long day.

One thing I was looking for in Birmingham, but not expecting to see, was The Acolyte stuff. I knew there was a Kelnacca comic so there’d at least be that, but also the funkos were meant to be out today so I thought they might be early. I hoped, but didn’t expect, to see the black series figures (cause the uk release is all over the place). I saw none of the funko at all, but to my surprise the first forbidden planet (where I was going to pick up a bag for mum) had most of the first wave! In fact the only one they didn’t have (oddly) was Mae. Of course I had to get my boy Yord (because I both love him and he’s out of stock for preorder everywhere). So I was really happy for that and it made the trip worthwhile. (Plus I also got my friend a thing too which turned out to be rare!)

After that I wandered round a bit, looking in tk at the Halloween stuff (which looked cool and there was a dapper fox art piece) and I got some rainbow stuff for Naryu from another place. Next stop was a Game outlet store and I got another Star Wars figure (Zero from The Mandalorian, for only£5), some Disney cards and two xbox games. Dolmen had been on my list for awhile and No Straight Roads sounded interesting, but my surprise was how much they were. £2. For both of them! (And Dolmen is a series x game too!) I wish I’d looked at the switch games more to see if there was a good one there, but overall I’m pleased with them. Dolmen might be added to my spooky season games next month.

After wandering some more I went to the other Forbidden Planet, where I got the Kelnacca comic, Star Wars magazine (there’s a Yord interview in the next one!) and some cheap funkos (Morgan from Ahsoka, Paz from The Mandalorian and Aipom). Then I hit up hmv and picked up a signed palaye album as a well as some fox stickers (they’re cute but I’m bad with stickers, I dunno where to stick them!).

Then I had some noms, went round the bullring quick (and saw the m and s Halloween stuff, I want the ghost train tin!) and got one of the new Lego dnd figures. (It’s an Aarakocra ranger with a cute pupper! I also got Szass Tam from one I ordered that was here when I got back.)

Then I went to see Alien Romulus. There was a load or trailers before it, some that I saw last week (Venom, Captain America) but there was also Speak No Evil (buff James Mcavoy looks… wrong), the Smile 2 teaser (which I really wanna see), a teaser for The Monkey (I think that’s what it was I’m curious) and Nosteratu (looks very atmospheric). I’m sure I’m missing one cause there was A Lot. (And there was an outlaws ad with a qr code for a ship colour!)

Anyway, thoughts ahoy! Under the cut.

Last night up when I got back I was kinda tired and yet not at the same time? I watched The Swarm then went on Star Wars Outlaws some more. Damnn it’s so easy to get drawn in and lose yourself in it. But ahh I met Lady Qi’ra! I really need to watch Solo again. Also yay there was a gay couple in it too which was nice. And I got sidetracked and went to Akiva cause of them.

I was gonna watch the Quackity stream but cause it got delayed like three times I ended up drifting off which was a shame cause it seemed fun.

Today the tiredness really hit me, my eyes have been achy as has my head a but which is annoying (plus I zoned out and had a nap). Before that though I did work on the Deku tree some more. I have almost finished it now, I think there’s only one more bag of the BOTW one left. It looks very pretty, though I had to dismantle a bit when I realised the mouth was wrong which was a pain. But it looks pretty with all the blossom and I love the lil korok friends who are adorable.

The last BOTW bag is for a few more trees. But there’s also a few other bags which must be for OOT things. So I’m gonna go through them so I can make the stuff from there. There’s gonna be at least the Deku tree sprout, deku babas, skulltula, fairy bow/slingshot and gossip stone.

Also mum’s not been feeling too great. I think she’s hid exactly how bad she’s been feeling cause she had a test at the doctor’s yesterday and they gave her meds instantly. Then today she’s been even worse and I dunno if it’s cause of the infection or the meds. Either way we can’t really do anything cause of the weekend, I just hope she doesn’t make herself worse.

I think that’s all I wanna ramble about, though, as always, I suspect I’m missing something.
shadowhive: (Nix Cutie)
Time for another post, which'll likely be disjointed a bit but hey, they always are.

So I found my Celestial Toymaker blu ray (it was where I thought it was in the end it was just hiding under a bag) so I decided to watch it on Sunday. It’s another old who ep that’s been animated, only this time it’s in a new 3d animated style. I wasn’t quite sold on it from the announcement trailer, but it really works, especially for the surreal characters that are in it.

But as for the ep itself it’s kinda… not too special. Like it’s fun seeing Dodo and Steven handle the various riddles and puzzles (and the aforementioned surreal characters that they meet along the way) but the doctor’s side feels a lacking. They get separated early on, with the companions doing a series or games while the Toymaker and the Doctor play their own. It could’ve been an interesting battle of wits between them… except the doctor is rendered invisible and then mute for most of it, so it’s just the Toymaker talking to a hand. As a result that side is pretty disappointing.

I do think the animation elevated the ep from what it was, you get the sense that the ep was ambitious when it was written but they didn’t have the budget to realise it so I’m glad the animation has at least managed that.

There was also a new special feature of a doctor who escape room. It’s clear that it’s been done for the boxsets (and thankfully seems to have been filmed for all of them) so it’s gonna be interesting seeing the different teams tackle it. For this one I dunno though my focus drifted after a bit likely causa tiredness which... boo.

But also I’ve gotten back to American Horror Story Asylum and it keeps getting wilder especially with the reveal on who bloodface actually is which is so…

Yesterday there was a trailer for sonic 3 and I’m so hyped for it! We got to see Shadow in action! And he’s voiced by Keane Reeves which is a truly wild sentence.

Also yesterday I was thinking of going to town to see a film, but I wanted to see how I felt (back thing has been acting up) and the weather (it was meant to rain). But I decided to go anyway. I had two choices of film to see: Deadpool and Wolverine or Alien Romulus. I went with the former, solely cause I might be in Birmingham next week and it’s more likely Romulus is still showing there then.

There was a load of trailers beforehand.
*Alien Romulus - looks really good I’m definitely gonna see it
*Wicked - looks pretty and good to see Michelle Yeoh but I dunno if imply see it
*Gladiator II - I didn’t see the first one so eh, but was that Joseph Quinn as an Emperor? And Pedro Pascal!
*Venom The Last Dance - looks like it’ll be pretty good, I still need to see the last one
*Captain America Brave New World - it seems to have vibes of Winter Soldier which was really good and I do wanna see Harrison Ford in the mcu (but eh including an Israeli ‘hero’? That seems bad, even though she’s not touched on by name in the trailer)

I had meant to see Deadpool 2 before it because I’ve not seen it (despite having the blu ray for awhile) but I didn’t have chance to. However while events of it were referenced I didn’t feel I missed out by not seeing it which was good.

Ryan Reynolds is so fun as Deadpool, making quips the whole time and he’s just so funny. And the opening scene was so brutal but also I now have Bye Bye Bye stuck in my head (which I sense is a common thing). I can also totally see why I saw a lot of art in the back of a Honda odyssey between Deadpool and Wolverine.

I other thoughts under the cut cause semi spoilers.

Alas it finished after the last bus had gone so I had to walk back. I popped in Asda first and got some cheap stuff (and the nice burrrito bites) but ugh that meant I was tired from the walk home.

However I couldn’t just flop when I got back, I watched Masterchef and then Chucky (which is really fun I hope he kills the bullying bitch).

I was also able to start Star Wars Outlaws (thanks Ubisoft+) and it’s fun so far. The data spike thing is gonna take some getting use to and I need to work out the stun setting (I fumbled it when I tried to use it). But ahhh Nix is so cute I love them!

Other gaming wise I have been working on Steamworld Heist 2 and I feel I’m close to finishing it (I hoped to before outlaws but…) and ahh seeing some unexpected people from the first Heist was so cool!

Plans this week:
*actually sit down and fic (I’ve missed it but my focus has been so off)
*watch the Nintendo direct from yesterday (I missed it by going out)
*Some more American Horror Story/hopefully start vhs run
*watch something on shudder (maybe)
*get back to reading Rogue
*Look into sorting uni (again ficus has been off ugh)
*watch something on shudder

I feel I’m missing something too (as always) but ah well. Now to flop and wait on mail so as the song says: bye bye bye.
shadowhive: (Lothcat Sleepy)
The weekend has, like most days lately, been pretty low energy.

I had hoped to finally get round to watching the Celestial Toymaker today, but I can’t find where the blu Ray’s gone. I thought it would be in the pile with the others (those being the films from the Arrow order and VHS) but alas it’s not. I had meant to have a better look this afternoon but I ended up having a nap instead (so I might look later).

Fortnite was updated with the new marvel season though, as always, it took forever to download on switch. It’s pretty good so far though I do miss the car upgrades (damn the competitive people being so against them). Surprisingly I got a win the first night, which usually takes me a good while to get so I have the fancy victory umbrella.

I have hoped to fic but, alas, my fic brain seems to be absent again which is so annoying and bleh.

Last night I did manage to watch something though, the first disc of the Ju-On boxset, the curse and the curse 2. Some thoughts ahoy.

Now I’m gonna snuggle Midna, watch the team go homecoming thing and maybe go on multiversus later (and maybe see if my fic brain will work too).

So [personal profile] dreamersdare is doing an august posting thing so I’m gonna try it too. It’s probably not gonna be the same sorta stuff (certainly today’s is more of a random stream of conscious kinda deal). But first a general update.

I feel the past few days have been draining. The heat has returned so it’s made it hard to focus which is so incredibly annoying. I’ve also had trouble settling to sleep which is… ugh.

It also feels I’ve had bad luck with a few things. A few of the in-line games I use have been disconnecting a lot. My tumblr is gone (and I’m not getting any answers as to why despite sending support messages). It really sucks cause I had so many memories there and was finally getting back to using it again. Ugh, hopefully they sort it.

I started a technic mini set, lost a cog for it, got stabbed maybe something while rooting for it (after losing it again) and then lost half of the build. Which is more of annoyance than the rest but I’ve had to wear a plaster since then.

Bleh.

But anyway, onto fandom things instead.

***

I picked up some things from the summer sale. I did an order with arrow video, which was gonna be just ju on in the sale but I added a few other things cause you could get a few gift when you spent so much. Those things are on their way (while ju on is on back order) and I also ordered the J Rising boxset (mpwhich might be a belated birthday present) and Trick R Treat.

The things that are coming from that are Audition and Lifeforce (both of which I’ve seen but not for a long long time), something called Hiruko The Goblin (never seen but sounds interesting) and The Sacred Spirit (which was the freebie which also sounds interesting).

From the Bethesda sale I eventually decided to get the Ebonheart pact dice set (yeha I have a problem) but also a tee and a hat.

I also had to use my game points before the reward card ended. I was gonna get vbucks, but they had to be delivered so I just got Xbox credit instead. (Cause the saving wouldn’t even cover the shipping.) I thought I might use it on the Xbox summer sale (I’d a few things in the basket to consider) but I decided none of them interested me enough.

Sunday I ended up watching The Turning because it was on tv and I was curious about. For the most part it was creepy in an unsettling way. And Finn Wolfhard was the standout part in it. Unfortunately the final scene of the whole film was very… unsatisfying because of how unclear it was?

Speaking of watching stuff Futurama was back on Monday and it was so good to see it back. I really liked the Aztec themed robots and I hope we see more of them at some point.

Gaming wise I finished the MCC event stuff and have the cape (yipee) though I’m a bit sad it’ll be over soon cause I like Seapeekay’s npc. (Speaking of him he’s also gonna be in a film! So I’m super curious what he’s gonna be in it cause he says it’s a speaking role and that it’s gonna be shown at Cannes which is wild).

Bloomburrow is also live in Magic arena, which looks so cute with all the animals! I feel I’m gonna end up making a bat deck soon.

Star Wars Hunters first season wrapped up and the season 2 Hunter is an imperial droid (like K-2SO) and the whole pass is empire themed which… eh. I’m not an empire boy so it’s a bit blah, though there are a few nice outfits (the death trooper, sunset and carmine outfits). Plus one of the other characters has a Zam Wesell themed outfit for in game currency so I’ll definitely pick that up.

Speaking of Star Wars we finally have a date for Skeleton Crew, the next Star Wars series. It sounds really fun from the description and I like that it sounds like it’s gonna be something different. I think it’s really sweet how the director said Jude Law (who is the main character) was with the child actors he’s working with. I am a bit worried the toxic parts of the fanbase will harass them but I hope I’m wrong (but then people suck).

I had a feeling I was gonna say something else but my brain is just… empty.
shadowhive: (15 Hot)
Thanks for all the replies to the last post about mum and her fall. So an update on that before getting to the rest of the post.

For most of Sunday mum rested and seemed to be ok, though had a bit of trouble moving later and still had hand issues, struggling to use it. She did decide to try and call the doctor to see what to do, but alas it wasn’t much help.

She first called and they said they’d call back with info, but she had to call back. After making an appointment for next week and seeing a friend, she’s decided we’re going to the hospital tomorrow. We’re gonna be leaving at about 9:30 but who knows how long we’ll actually be there for (so I’ll take my pad, book and some stuff to read).

Hopefully everything will turn out ok and her hand is aching cause it’s shook up but who knows.

Hopefully we won’t be there all day too but…

Also Sunday I started building the phantom II and ghost Lego which is 13 bags so is a lot. (I’ve only done the first 5) The phantom II is so cute, if a lil smol and I’m glad chopper is in there cause he’s cute and a menace.

At the night I ended up blue screening a bit, likely cause of being so stressed. I was unable to decide on anything so just laid there for like half an hour plus, which was annoying.

Anyway onto the main part of the post, thoughts on various things. All the cut causa spoilers. First Late Night With The Devil, then Doctor Who, then Eurovision.

Anyway now I’m gonna bundle up and rest cause I feel drained and I’m not looking forward to spending tomorrow at the hospital.
shadowhive: (Queen Amidala)
So yesterday was Star Wars day and it was also free comic book day. I’m not sure when the last time that both coincided was but it was nice to have them both on the same day.

Since it was free comic book day this meant a trip to Birmingham, which can be busy and annoying but thankfully it wasn’t too bad until the end for the most part (and it seems I haven’t picked up anything this time).

First stop was the Forbidden Planet by the station. Birmingham has two of them oddly and, although they share a name, they’re both different which is odd. The one by the station lets you pick the comics but only 4. That was good though as it meant I could pick the main three I wanted (Star Wars, Doctor Who and Pokémon) and I also got one called Gannibals (I know nothing about it, but I’m assuming cannibals are involved). Alas the Young Jedi Adventures wasn’t around, but I expected that. From there I also got some Star Wars graphic novels cause there was an offer on. Battle of the Force was one I was hoping to get but I also got Crimson Regin and Dark Droids, though I think I’ll have to check if they’re a continuation of something before reading them cause I feel they are (especially dark droids cause there seems to be a few).

Then we went to the Lego store, in hopes I could get the make and take sets but alas they just finished with them. It was busy and hot so I didn’t get chance to look around, but I did get pics with a stormtrooper and Jawa they had there.

I stopped off in smiths, only intending to get the new Lego Star Wars magazine, but there was also a Doctor Who magazine special on the fourth Doctor which I didn’t know was out! I’ve only had a flick through but there’s an interview with Louise Jameson I’m gonna read (with Matthew Waterhouse oddly) which looks good. Plus there was a Zelda magazine I picked up too cause Zelda.

Next was the other Forbidden planet which gives oht free comic book day stuff in bags. This meant you get 8 comics but they’re random. I’m curious to check them out. I got a few Star Wars figures in the sale, as well as a book and Pokémon funko (sobble my boy!) and some grab bags(nothing too special, though I got the amory wars at last). However the fav thing I got was the comic for the Phantom Menace, cause I got a special variant cover of Queen Amidala! I didn’t even though there was one and it was the last one so I’m very happy.

We got a few other things, then had something to eat then went to see Episode I in the cinema.

They’ve bought out Episode I again(with a beautiful poster) because it’s an anniversary year for it. 25 years. Fuck, that made me feel old when I first heard that. But it was awesome to see Star Wars on the big screen again, even though it’s one I’ve seen many times now.

The Phantom Menace is so beautiful, especially Naboo which is one of my fav planets and I love all of the outfits for Queen Amidala (and her ship! Naboo ships are the best). Plus darth maul and the duel is awesome and it largely holds up and resonates so well now (even if the trade federation’s motives are iffy).

Though one thing I love is that it gives me a strong memory. I don’t have too many memories of my grandparents that have stuck, in large part because of how they went towards the end, but one of the strongest memories of my grandad is when we first saw Episode I. He called Padme a ‘stupid woman’ cause she watched the holo of governor Bibble (enpven though it was a recording) and he said it so loud in a crowded cinema it was embarrassing. And yet that’s a memory that’s stuck somehow, and that’s nice.

I sense I’ll be doing a run of the other films soon. (Though it did make me wanna go back on Lego Star Wars)

There was also a preview for The Acolyte after the film, which some of a scene with one of the new Jedi (played by Carrie Ann Moss) which was awesome and I’m so excited for it! I read an article on it on the train and there was a new trailer when I got home and ahhh I’m so hyped.

After going in a few other places we came back home and I pretty much immediately flopped (after snuggling the girls). I watched MCC though my focus wasn’t 100% there and I zoned out after it. Though Seapeekay did have an awesome Jedi outfit which ahhh!

Today hasn’t been too exciting. I made the belated birthday cake for mum (which was nice), I watched the first three eps of Tales Of The Empire (interesting though raised more questions than answered them) and Dungeons And Dodongos (which was so funny and I’m sure James is somehow psychic) and then I did some Lego Star Wars.

Now I’m gonna watch Red Eye (which has been interesting so far) then I wanna finish Lego Star Wars Episode I on FreePlay (and then I dunno, I may fic, I may watch something it depends if I get tired)
shadowhive: (Klaus :O)
So my mindset is starting to get a letter better, which feels good.

Slime story plushies that I ordered during slimes charity stream came fast, I did them after midnight Thursday and they arrived Saturday which was so surprising. They’re so cute and the moss slime is so soft and snuggly.

Speaking of soft and snuggly Midna has continued to be snuggly in the day (and night, she’s currently curled up against my leg) while Leia has been snuggly when I go to bed. Maybe Leia sensed my mindset and decided to be snuggly (Midna’s been consistently snuggly for awhile)

I have been watching and also playing things so under the cut is gonna be my thoughts on a few things. (TUA season 3 ep 1, Primeval, Talk To Me).

As well as watching things I’ve gamed a little. I’ve been on goat sim 3 on game pass, which is so funny and unserious. There’s been some wild stuff so far, like weird invading aliens (or robots), a giant tentacle creature and a quest from a hobbit house (called dilbo’s quest)

I finally went back on Zelda on Sunday too and… I have not continued any of the quests at all. I’ve just been exploring the depths and doing lightroots. I did intend on doing the main questline but I just got distracted by doing that and for what? I did save at lookout landing so next time i go on I will continue the quest… or get distracted again.

Then tonight I started Prince Of Persia The Lost Crown, doing the first level. And damn, why’s Sargon (the player character) hot? And was the prince flirting with him? Im gonna go on it more sometime but I dunno when.

But I’ve also got sidetracked by raid shadow legends cause of Seapeekay doing a sponsorship so I’ve been trying to do the quests for it (at least the ones that are doable for free) and I’m at level 32 after a week. Damnit.

Anyway here ends the post. I might try and fic some more before bed but we’ll see. Then who knows what this week holds? I’ve gotta pick up mums meds but it depends on the weather which I has been pretty dicey. But other than that? I dunno.
shadowhive: (Seapeekay Scenepeekay)
Last night was The Blackout gig and I went pretty late so I couldn’t do much. I picked up some food before going to the station (and got the Empire dark side cover). Of course at the station the ticket machine was shuttered again, which seems to be the case most of the time.

There was no ticket person on the train either and when I got to the station the fare place was closed (cute panic) but the barrier lady let me through so it was all good.

As it was late I didn’t get to do too much in Birmingham, I had a lil look 8n the legos tore, saw a cute plushie (of a Midna like cat) and ended up picking up a Halloween plush from hmv cause it was 30%.

After worrying about the venue it ended up being ok, they didn’t question my pad (despite one guy giving me a look) and the most annoying thing was the metal detector. Since it wasn’t sold out people weren’t passing out like crazy, which was good but two people still did which was concerning (so I’ll definitely still avoid the venue).

After getting some merch (a tee, necklace and wristband, which glows in the dark!) I got a pretty good spot and waited for the bands. The first band were Lunar (I think) and they were pretty good. Strangely they were a two piece, a guitarist/singer and drummer which was unusual. But the singer was local which was nice. The second band, Dead Pony were ok, the guilts and bassist were cute but the electronic stuff they used kinda overpowered it in places?

As for The Blackout themselves, damn. It honestly felt like they’d never been away. Considering they hadn’t toured in 9 years it didn’t show, they still had the energy they had back then, with Sean doing his mic tricks and doing their funny bits between songs and just. Gavin had hurt his foot a few days ago so he wasn’t as mobile as usual, but other than limping a bit you really couldn’t tell. (Honestly it was stranger him and Rhys had shaved heads)

They don’t know what they’re gonna do after Slam Dunk, but I do hope they decide to do more music again. But if not? It was so great to see them again.

On the way back I picked up something to eat at the station, but eh. The sushi wasn’t as nice as I expected and the passion fruit lemonade was kinda eh. The trip back was uneventful, though I wish my pod thing hadn’t died because people were annoying.

Today’s felt like a tiring day (not helped by mum wanting to take Naryu a longer walk, but at least she saw the horses). I ended up putting on Elemental this afternoon. Which was pretty good. I wasn’t sure what to expect (and half expected there to be a villian or something causing the canal problem) but it ended up being a nice immigrant/romance story.

Then tonight I watched Monster Hunter cause it was on tv and ugh. Yeah it wasn’t great. There were some elements that could’ve made good stories but they weren’t the focus at all and just… bleh. At least the hunter guy was cute, but yeah. I’d rather have that time back.

Finally another time for a regular post. I’ve still not been through the snowflake friend post though, alas, maybe I will this week.

Thankfully I’m feeling much better, at least physically, now, though the past few days have still been its share of annoyances (and good things too though)

First was there finally a new Lost Tapes ep on Friday. It’s felt like so long since the last one, which has been a bit of a shame. Karl didn’t seem to take into account that this time of year would be hard to sort things out, hence why it’s taken so long. Still it was pretty good and the ending was a surprise to pretty much everyone.

(And also it sparked an idea that I had to do.)

Mum’s friend came Saturday which was a source of annoyance. It feels like the only reason she comes is to use our internet to find things to buy. I really don’t get why she doesn’t have internet herself, but what I understand less is that she doesn’t have a credit or debit card, so we have to buy these things and she gives us money. Of course this thing was over £100 (she wanted one almost three times as much, I’m glad it was out of stock) though it being Saturday meant that the bank shut early which meant I had to put it in at the machine outside. Which is annoying, because it takes days to go in (it’s thankfully in now) which is so stressful.

I’d not have even bothered going to town if it wasn’t for mum wanting to send a top back (cause the size was wrong) and there isn’t the store anywhere else. The town trip felt like a waste of time though there was nothing I hoped to get there (no donuts at Iceland, the Empire magazines in smiths were in bad condition) but at least I got nice bread and a fox plush (and a little muttley toy)

When I got back we went to a table top thing up the road and got a few books and I also picked up a pretty looking necklace and lil fox thing.

That night was the streamer awards, which ended up going in late into the night so was exhausting. (And of course most of the categories I was interested in were towards the end. Quackity won two awards which was kinda expected (though I feel Foolish should’ve won minecrafter), Etoiles won one and the one I’m most surprised is Name Your Price winning. Yeah it’s fun and always a good time but I was sure the fanbases of Paranormal Order and Gen Loss would’ve meant it was between them.

Though ugh why was everyone so pretty? I mean damn Foolish

Sunday I felt a bit out of it cause of the late night, but I watched a film and finished a fic, then put on an audio thing. Then today has felt even odder, though I did watch Ring and finished a chapter of my uni book (which felt overlong) and I have started infinite craft which I can tell can be a timesink.

Before I started this mum went to bed and made some comment about the washer, after not saying anything for days and I’m just? Why was she surprised I’ve not done it? She’s not out and out said to me which one she wants (she put one in the basket, but apparently it’s not the one with the right easy payments) so why is she surprised I’ve not just done one? If I had she’d only complain I’d done it without talking to her so it’s a complete lose/lose, ugh.

Also I’m kinda worried about Midna, she’s switched from being cuddly and always around to hiding away again and I dunno why. I hope it’s just cause she’s found a new comfy spot but.

Anyway ending this post with some film thoughts: Uncharted, Moonfall and Ring (so kinda spoilers for each?)

(I’m thinking of going through the snowflake friend meme thing tomorrow so if you’re from there and this is the first you see, hi!)

This is gonna be a kinda general post of the last few days.

First, washer update: there isn’t one. We’ve not heard anything back (i wish we had) so things have kinda stalled. Mum did find one on Amazon but I think the whole experience drained her and we’ve not moved further on it. We ended up taking some stuff to the nearby laundrette which was a pain causa needing change and everything.

I did take The High Republic graphic novel Balance Of The Force when I went up there, though I only read the first section (I definitely wanna read more!) though one page was strange and I wonder if there was a printing error.

The remote also went missing Thursday night and I have no idea where it’s gone, so I ended up ordering a replacement which arrived Sunday (after looking and failing) and thankfully worked.

Saturday I ended watching a few films on tv. First I watched Scoob! And it actually turned out to be a lot of fun, even though it was kinda strange too. Like it didn’t feel like a standard Scooby doo thing which is kinda good, but also kinda odd. I did enjoy it though and did end up rooting for the villian cause he was doing everything for an understandable reason (albeit evilly).

Then I watched Scream (technically Scream V?) which I still think is pretty good, it’s made me both wanna do a run of the other scream films and see the new one, though also makes me so disappointed over how much the follow up has turned into a mess. (With at least two of the cast fired for supporting Palestine which seems moronic especially considering *gestures at the horrors*)

I was gonna watch Midsommar as well, but with ads it’s three hours and my eye was aching again which, ugh. Thankfully it’s on the channel 4 player so I’ll try and watch it this week though I dunno when. (I thought about it last night but got too tired)

I can’t remember if it was Friday or Saturday night but my head got bad and I think it’s partly due to a tooth? Though I can’t think why. I also had a fall Friday night which has made my arm achy and annoying.

Sunday I didn’t do too much, I even spent Dungeons And Dodongos with the light and webcam off, but thankfully my head seemed to be a bit better. Although my eyes did start aching after Death In Paradise.

I ended up putting on the newest The Magnus Protocol (kinda a vibe, the theme music still goes hard) then put on an audio. I went for one of the Torchwood audios I got in the recent sale and so listened to The Office Of Never Was. It was Ianto focussed which was nice cause he was always my fav and I love the spooky vibe. Though ugh it made me, again, hate retcon as a concept when it came up.

Today was a trip into town, which was cause it was for mum’s breast screening thing. I didn’t expect to get anything, though ended up getting a bunch of books (as if I need any) and some of the newest Lego magazines and a lil Lego set (I’ll take pics soon). The main find though was I went in cex and they had The Ring Collection so I ended up going back for it after checking the price when on hospital wi fi.

The screening seemed to have gone ok, though mum did feel oddly exhausted the whole day. I’m not sure if it’s cause of the recent stress but she felt tired and dizzy so we had to stop at McDonald’s (the only food place near) which ended up not being great (no ice cream or milkshake for her, the food being a bit cold) so it was a bit of a disappointment (bar the mozzarella sticks). She seems to be fine when we got home though it is a bit, concerning I guess? Though at the same time I felt so tired too so it might just be the stress.

I did think about seeing Argylle cause it was showing at an early time, though between that (and the bus times being odd on the way) I decided it’d be best to come home which was the best call.

So we spent the night resting and hopefully things feel better soon.

There was some mail this morning to. My friend sent some sweets and a little R2 thing, plus I got the OwengeJuice signed postcard and the newest Time Traveller Tales.

Now I’m watching a stream cause I know I don’t have the focus to game, so I might just bundle up soon when this (and it) is done.

Challenge #10

Five Things! The five things are totally up to you. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

So this one is the result of the poll (I might do the other options sometime) but it went live Friday before I was due to head out so I couldn’t do it at the time, so here it is now.

I did do five things in the icebreaker thing snowflake post so these top will be other things.

I’m gonna start with some things from 2023, which I was gonna do in a new year post but never got around to. All this under the cut cause long

Snowflake’s day 11 challenge is do a fan work and I’m hoping to fic some but haven’t had the best of luck recently.

Challenge #12
Tell Us about a Personal Win.

I dunno it kinda doesn’t feel like I’ve had too many recently. However as I said that the start of the post I went to a gig last Fridays James Marriott’s and I really hoped to meet Jago, who’s his drummer after the show, and he was there! He was so sweet and endearing and just so… Jago.

I got a pic of him (not the best) and he also signed my copy of the album and it’s so wild and I still can’t quite believe it happened.

***

The past few days I’ve been looking for a few distractions so I’m gonna note them quick instead of posting them separately later.

Sunday I listened to the Magnus Protocol eps, which started last week. The first ep is largely set up and raises so many questions which I know will no doubt get answered as the series goes on (including the really intriguing sounding Magnus Institute ruins which are in a completely different place). The second ep definitely has an intriguing ‘statement’ (for a lack of a better term) which was definitely creepy. I’m definitely looking forward to more.

Yesterday I watched the Pokémon livestream which was nice to watch Johto eps as I’d not seen many of them before. I think my fav was the one with the wooper, because they’re just so cute.

Also last night on a recommendation I put on the first ep of Hazbin Hotel. Going in blind I had no idea what to expect butI definitely loved what I saw. Especially Angel and Alastor, who I both love already. I’m gonna try and watch more soon (also angels are dicks).

Tonight’s plan is largely unknown. I might try and fic and I might watch something, or I might game but I’m not sure what (it’s between Under The Waves, Cult Of The Lamb, Jedi Survivor or Elder Scrolls Online so it depends on my mindset). Or I might listen to something if my head is achy.

Another kinda disjointed post, woo?

First off there is a new Cult Of The Lamb update coming in a few days which looks so wild. Maybe I’ll get back to it soon once it’s out. It’s also corresponded with Foolish playing Cult too and you can tell he’s really into it cause he’s been on it the past few streams and, while I’ve not seen all of it due to timing, he has been kinda hot as a cult leader. (And by kinda I mean very) which kinda makes me wanna fic him as sone but who knows. I have so many ideas lately so we’ll see if anything comes from it.

Friday ended up being a trip to Home Bargains which was exhausting. I got that and some other things we needed but eh. Game next door didn’t really have much but I got a two calendars for 98p each, an Animal Crossing one and a Dungeons And Dragons Honour Among Thieves one.

Saturday I felt a bit wiped, maybe causa that, so I didn’t do too much. Thankfully I didn’t have to go to town like I expected. But damn the Game there is closed which is sad.

I did get sent a blue sky invite though so I’m here if anyone has one there I am. It’s very bare bones of course but.

I also started an app game called My Dear Farm which is so cute. All the vegetables and fruits and flowers have cute lil faces! I unlocked the ability to get animals and was so surprised that the first one that came up wasn’t a traditional farm animal. No it wasn’t a sheep, goat or chicken but a shark! Of course I instantly got it because of the foolish coding but it was such a random choice. Today’s was a frog which isn’t quite as crazy but still not what I would’ve expected.

Last night I ended up watching some films, War Of The Worlds, which was pretty good as a disaster movie though the frequent mention of terrorists did date it a bit. It also made me wonder exactly how long the tripods had been buried because that seems to make not much sense. Why bury such advanced tech and not come for them until so long after? And how had they been so hidden. Of course the end felt sudden too but I think that’s the nature of the novel too.

Then there was In The Earth which was ok, though I’m not sure I fully ‘got it’ (and the heavily flashing lights towards the end got to me a bit). Plus there was the whole ‘maybe magic, maybe mundane’ aspect because it didn’t seem to settle one way or the other. Which I guess is ok, leaving it open to interpretation but still. Though you have to commend the people that made it because it was made during lockdown which must’ve been so hard to do.

Also I love that right before I went to bed Seapeekay posted these and ahh he looks so cute in it! I hope he wears more stuff like that and gets a full proper emo look soon. (Maybe it could be a subathon goal since he’s starting one Monday!)

James did post tour merch too (I have to listen to him this week in the lead up) and the hoodie isn’t great which is good so I just to decide between tees.

Now I’m gonna flop and I’ve got Dungeons And Dodongos in a few and then the rest of the day is resting and hopefully ficcing.

Challenge #4

IceBreaker Challenge! Tell us about yourself. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Hmm I feel I covered a bunch of this sorta stuff in the post for day 1 so I feel a bit at a loss as to what to include that wouldn’t just be repeating myself. I tried using the random question generator linked in the snowflake post but none of the questions that came up caught my interest.

I saw one of the first comments say they did a top 5 ask thing, so everyone commenting, feel free to ask my top 5 of… well anything (feel free to ask more than one)

So feel free to ask me whatever!

Hopefully that’s a good enough thing to use as an answer, but my brain just can’t come up with anything good (and again, I don’t wanna repeat myself)

****

A few things arrived recently which is good. There was the coin from the Xbox uk streams, the recent Astarion qwertee and the missing Lego piece from the spider tank. And the new Doctor Who magazine, though I’ve not had chance to look through it. (Pics are here, along with the sorry poster and tee)

I also finished the Lego I got for Christmas, building Shin’s starfighter which looks nice and I like the bright colours of it. It’s a nice contrast to the e-wing that came with it, which is mostly white, but the astromech droid is pretty and it’s very sturdy. (Pics here I should take more)

I managed to get the Jago hoodie on Friday too, which I’m glad because they went in less than four minutes which was crazy. But they look pretty especially the back.

Last night I decided to finally rewatch Dungeons And Dragons Honour Among Thieves and it somehow managed to get me out of my funk. I just love it so much, I really hope there’s a sequel. Jarnathan is so awesome and ahhh! I was swooning over Xenk again, he’s just so pretty and perfect and I need to see him in a sequel please. Does anyone have good pics of him? I want an icon of him so bad but can’t find too many (though I did find art of him and Astarion on tumblr👀) I also watched the special features on the disc and I loved that they did a dnd session as their characters.

I’m so tempted to get the Xenk figure, because I just found it on eBay for half price so I might get him (and Edgin cause I have to get them together, and the seller also has the Cube and the others…).

I woke this morning to a gift fic, which took me all day to get around to read cause of loud noises and a headache but it’s very! So if anyone is interested in Ray Toro smut it’s here

Anyway I’m gonna bundle up now, I might watch something else tonight but I dunno. Or maybe game but I dunno what, maybe Jedi Survivor, more Fortnite Festival or Dreamlight (maybe Dead By Daylight but the event is over). I do wanna start Stray or Under The Waves this week, or the Everdream Valley game I won before christmas.
