The past few days have been so rough and I’m so.. ugh. I dunno if I’ve picked something up but my sleep schedule is still so fucked, mostly cause my body has wanted to drink all the time which has meant I’ve had to go to the bathroom constantly and can’t settle. Everytime I think I’m over it it comes back and it’s just so exhausting.

It’s not helped by having a phone call scheduled for Thursday which is really peaking my anxiety already but ugh.

Anyway onto the main part of the post before I get bogged down.

A few posts back I mentioned what my spooky plans for the past week were. I ended up doing just one. That’s a mix of things, partly due to the aforementioned illness but also because Seapeekay played through Until Dawn last week at nights. That totally counts as a spooky thing to watch though, even though the last part was when I lost connection so I missed some. I dunno if I’ll play it myself, but I’m curious how the film version is gonna play out.

The one thing I did watch from my list was Stranger Things, so I started season 2 with the first ep. Thankfully it had a recap cause it’s been so long since I saw season 1 and it feels very much like a set up episode, establishing where everyone is since then. The opening scene was unexpected and I’m curious what a few things mean (Will’s visions, the pumpkins) and I love that they included a shot that panned to Billy’s ass. Also yay Mike for having a Millennium falcon!

Thursday was the next day I watched spooky things, which was Agatha All Along which featured a reveal everyone expected and a scene that made me almost yell out nooo. Then in the night was the finale of The Swarm. The show as a whole was an interesting idea, with an ancient life form weaponising the seas and I liked the global nature of it, but the last ep felt odd. Mainly cause a third way through the ep there was a shift from ‘let’s communicate with this thing’ to ‘we've found a way to harm it let’s test it’ which predictably was a bad idea.

Friday had the new Ghost Files starting which, yay! Though it was so wild especially since the words ‘my soft fleshy hole’ were uttered which was crazy.

Saturday was a drained day though I did have the focus to watch a new to me film that was on tv, Us. Thoughts under a cut cause it’s newish.

On the whole I thought it was a pretty solid film and was pretty good, though some choices did feel odd. Basic plot: family gets attacked by their doubles who are determined to kill them.

Largely the concept is a solid one, and I really liked it!

So here’s where the spoilers come in: about midway/two thirds of the way through it turns out this isn’t an isolated event, doubles are attacking people all across the US. I kinda feel that took away from it a bit? That it would’ve worked better if it was just this family. And then the ‘explanation’ for the doubles (which may not be accurate) was just an odd choice too. I did like the reveal at the end though, even though I guessed it (or maybe read it somewhere?) but I feel it could’ve been explored more.

Yesterday was a few spooky things. I watched Hotel Transylvania 2 which was a lot of fun (despite not watching the first one) and I wanna see the follow up (cause it has Kathryn Hahn!) and the third is showing on my birthday so I might watch depending on the time.

That night I watched something called Hauntings which was investigations into real life Hauntings. The first two were on last night and the two were completely different vibes. Partly it’s cause the first was in the uk and the second was us but also the second one had family members in it while the first didn’t. There’s two more on next week and I think that’s all there is which is a shame as it’s good!

Right after it there was a showing of the original The Wicker Man, which I’d never seen. I was curious about it cause I’d heard good things (and Christopher Lee is in it and there’s a documentary with him next week) so I checked it out. What surprised me about it was just how much singing there was in it, I expected something at the end but there was guide a bit of it throughout.

I’m a big fan of investigation based horror (which I guess this falls under though it was more mystery than horror) but damn the guy investigating it was just so damn unlikeable. He was religious and could not stop bringing it up though out the whole thing, which definitely became grating (and I wasn’t sad about his fate).

It has made me curious about the remake though I’ve heard it’s… questionable.

Anyway now I’m gonna snuggle with Midna, watch Ranboo’s stream and hopefully get some rest.

I'm so sorry you haven't been feeling well, and I hope you feel better soon.

I had forgotten there was new Ghost Files and I honestly wasn't sure I still wanted to watch it? The Patreon stuff still left a bad taste in my mouth. But it was a really fun episode.

Interesting - I hadn't considered how Us probably largely works from an American perspective, given an understanding of the history of slavery in the US. I'm not awake enough now to get into it but it's a thing I promise lol.

I looooooooooooove The Wicker Man. Love to see that guy burn at the end every time. I've never seen and likely will never see the remake; I hear it's bad anyway, and I do not find Nic Cage amusing, so it is not for me.

I'm sorry you've been feeling off again. It must get so frustrating never feeling fully well.

I watched, and enjoyed, Stranger Things, but then watched no more. One day I must remedy that.

I remember really liking Season 2 of Stranger Things. I think 4 and 2 are my favorites overall.

My mom talked me into watching the first Hotel Transylvania, and it surprised me too! It's cute, it's fun, it's expertly animated. We spent a few weeks randomly saying, "I am Count Dracula, Bleh Bleh Bleh!" at each other.

There is SO much singing in the original Wicker Man it's almost a musical! No one ever talks about that. They talk about the themes and the reveal and the daylight horror aspect of it, but never the music.
