Abide by the rules
Oct. 8th, 2025 04:44 pmOk I’ve not done a spooky season recap for a few days so! Here goes!
Day 5: Wednesday - Call Of The Woe, Shoto spooky stream, A Haunting In Venice, Forty Five - Order Of Simplicity
(Wednesday/A Haunting In Venice thoughts here)
Other than the things mentioned in the post there was Shoto’s spooky stream though I did tune out a bit. Sometimes I do, it becomes more listening to him play than watching. Which if anyone has seen him stream knows he has a nice voice. Then I continued the who audio I started in the night.
Day 6: Forty Five - Casualties Of War, Him, Mystery Film - Good Boy, Forty Five - The Word Lord
(Film thoughts here)
Monday was mostly, as I expected the two films. Though I did finish Forty Five which was a good selection of one parters. They were all quite varied which was good, though I think the Word Lord was my fav of the set (and did make me wish it was longer).
Day 7: Eso, The Simpsons - Treehouse of Horror, Treehouse Of Horror II
Tuesday was an easier day, I did some of a quest on ESO (I meant to go back on later but got sidetracked) and two eps of Treehouse Of Horror. Sometimes I do a run of them around Halloween so we’ll see how much of a run I’ll do. (I do wish Disney+ had an option to just… play them instead of each ep wanting to play the next of season. The Raven is easily my fav segment of the first two. It’s honestly such a classic and I love that they did it.

There was an additional annoyance I didn’t mention in Monday’s post. I had an email from Student finance saying there was something missing, so I looked and they want my I’d which they didn’t mention before, then when mum found my stuff to do it I just got an error and the website has been down ever since. Like what the fuck? It’s another stress I don’t need.
Anyway.
I’ve not heard anything about the missing bag, but there is a purple fabric bag listed on the lost and found site so I have sent in my info for it for them to check. I don’t expect to hear anything though.
Today I went to see The Long Walk. Beforehand I went in the Poundland and got the bat tea light holder I lost, then a K-2S0 Funko and bitty landspeeder from smyths and, after debating, a replacement to the missing hocus Pocus bag.
On the train I read the Who magazine that came today and there’s a Halloween set of audio stories which I’d been curious about but now I want more cause Jonathan Sims (of The Magnus Archives!) wrote one. And there’s an article about the Dugga doo song though I’ve not read yet.
The trailers were the same ones I saw Tuesday: 28 years later, Keeper, Shelby Oaks, Black Phone 2 and Good Boy.
Thoughts under the cut.
Now people who have seen my recent cinema psots will probably be wondering why I actually saw this. After all any time I mention the trailer I’ve pretty much said I wouldn’t. So I blame
fleshdoll for this.
My assessment from the trailer is right though: it is a bleak film and it is well done. I mean the titular walk is a bleak concept, with a group of 50 (?) guys walking and then if they stop or leave the road they get shot. Some of the kills, especially towards the start, are pretty horrific (and it did feel like the guys were a little too trigger happy especially in one section)
But damn, there was an odd beauty to the locations they travelled through.
The story was centered on two characters, McVries and Garraty and it’s their relationship that carries the whole thing and it just works so much. They had their natural easy chemistry together, which made it even worse the longer it went on because you knew one (or both) wouldn’t make it till the end.
I do wonder if there is an extended cut (or at least deleted scenes) where some of the characters are fleshed out more. Like it felt wise to focus on those two but I wanna know more about some of the others, especially Stebbins, Barkovitch (who talked about dick sucking so much unprompted he clearly wanted them) and Collie (who was so hot thank you whoever decided to show off his arms). Though at the same time I fear knowing more about them would make everything that happens worse.
(I am also glad I made the sound decision to order Wildhood which has Collie’s actor kiss a man and has a happy ending).
I want how Mark Hamil was suggested for the role of the Major, like whose idea was that? Cause who ever it was needs a raise. Like I know he can play villains but usually they’re the kinda manic energy of the joker. This guy? He’s a fucking asshole and I’m glad what happened to him happened (he deserved worse)
(I feel I have more thoughts but tiredness and just having noms has meant they’ve left my braincell)
Ultimately it was well done and, despite the bleakness of the setting I would see it again, but probably not for awhile. (And now to look at ao3 and see all the au’s where everyone is happy and alive)
Since the walkers were meant to represent each state it has made me wanna read the Exquisite Corpses comics I’ve had for ages which likewise has people representing each state with the last one living being the winner, albeit with direct killing. I have had issues 2+3 sitting for ages and 4+5 will be coming soon so…
I feel I’m cursed though. On the way back to the train (which I didn’t miss this time!) I passed the art gallery and bam! My messenger bag strap broke. Fuck! I’m baffled how it happened because there wasn’t anything heavy in it and when I sat down to check it was the metal part that had snapped. Like ??? How does that happen?
I’m so annoyed cause it was my main bag (I have two now one with my wallets/meds/phone and this one which has my pad and usually a magazine or something). I have ordered one I saw in prime day, a rogue one one, so we’ll see if it’ll be any good.
Tonight I’m gonna rest, then it’s a tutorial and celebrity traitors, then I’ll likely game some. I might have another trip Friday but we’ll see.

Date: 2025-10-09 03:25 pm (UTC)Such a bleak film, but yeah, done so well. I'm glad you got to see it.

I agree with you totally about those kills. The first one shocked me in how graphic it was, and when so many were killed on that hill.
Sorry your bag strap broke, that's a pain.
I enjoyed Celeb Traitors last night, I'm looking forward to seeing who Alan picks, and how he does the deed.

Date: 2025-10-09 04:06 pm (UTC)Honestly, with the first one I expected them to cut away before the shot but no it was fully graphic like that! And yeah the hill section just felt so mean
Thanks, it really was. I dunno how it happened honestly
Me too! I’m gonna be watching it tomorrow so I wonder if he’ll suceeed and who it’ll be
