My feelings are still a bit off. I might do a locked post sometime to cover it.

I did finish the uni stuff and submitted it though I’m sure I did badly. I dunno, it just feels like I had trouble processing it January. And it doesn’t help that the new system makes it hard to look up some things to go over them. Thankfully the tutor had given me an extension, so I’ll have to message him back.

I didn’t do too much last night cause my brain felt fuzzy so I just watched some streams and ficced a little.(And Wilbur’s gonna be in Insomnia in Birmingham? Yay!)

Today was a bit better in some ways, though also tiring. I had to pick up my meds so I went in the morning. Partly cause I think I needed a break from thoughts and uni stuff. I got a Star Wars craft/project book from tk and then got a few things from sainsburys, including noms and some Lego. I got two of the new small Lego minecraft sets, the creeper ambush and mushroom house, which are both cute although the house is a little small (and two plates feel fragile). I also got some of the new Mario character packs and I’m glad I got the one I wanted most, the baby penguin.

I’ve not been on Pokemon today, though did do electrode last night.

I also watched today’s Book Of Boba Fett, thoughts of which are under the cut (warning for spoilers so avoid if you’ve not seen, I mean it).

I’m in two minds about this episode, in large part because itself is an episode of two parts.

So last weeks ep was pretty much a Mandalorian episode and I mentioned in my thoughts of that, that, while an awesome ep, it would likely have worked better as a stand-alone episode of the Mandalorian. This weeks ep, or at least the first part, had similar vibes. In fact I think the whole first part would have worked better as the opening for The Mandalorian season 3. Why? Well spoilers ahoy.

So The Mandalorian makes good on what he said at the end of the last ep, that he was going to see someone first, with the implication of it being Grogu. Well, that’s exactly what he does. He gets in his starfighter and flies straight to an as yet unnamed planet where it’s clear that Luke is building his jedi academy.

There’s some cute ant like builder droids (a whole lot of them) as well as R2, who was cute to see, even though he essentially just gets the Mandalorian to wait. This is cut with Luke (!) training Grogu, even comparing him to Yoda. There’s some cute parts to this, the hovering frogs, helping Grogu get about but there’s also some other stuff that we’ll get to.

Eventually, after sleeping while waiting, The Mandalorian is joined by someone… only it’s not Luke, it’s Ahsoka who calls herself a ‘friend of the family’. Her being there and her meeting Luke, seems really something that should have been in her own series as that’s a big thing. Maybe it will be like how Book included flashbacks. Hopefully.

The Mandalorian is just there because he wants to see Grogu, to make sure he’s ok and to give him the gift he bought for him. But instead he only sees him from afar, giving it inside to Ahsoka to give to him before leaving.

Now I fully expected it to just follow him from there, but no it stays with the training which felt odd. Ahsoka went off for vague reasons and then Luke used the force to bring back some of Grogu’s memories of home which… did he even want that? Not to mention that the thoughts he bought back was of order 66, the fuck? And then at the end of the ep Luke gives him a choice: yoda’s lightsaber or the gift from the Mandalorian (even though said gift would help keep him safe). It made Luke come off as an ass. (And could you see him using a similar line on Leia? No wonder she abandoned training if so)

So then the ep finally goes back to Tatooine (albeit Cobb from the marshal had a great scene at the start pre-opening). He lands his ship at Boba’s palace and there’s a meeting… which is the sole scene with Fennec and Boba int he whole episode. Which was… I dunno. It feels wrong that this is Boba’s series and yet this ep and the last was essentially the Mandalorian 2.5. Indeed the rest of the ep, while set on Tatooine is focussed on The Mandalorian, trying to convince Cobb to join the cause. He doesn’t make a decision, saying he needs to consult the people of his town (which, fair) although he doesn’t get a chance.

Because the last five minutes or so introduces the man from the desert that the ep is named of, which turned out to be Cad Bane, who’s working for the Pykes and offers him more money than Boba is offering to just leave them alone. Considering he hasn’t took an offer yet that seemed out (maybe there’s a mole) and it ended up in a shoot out…. But it was awesome seeing another Clone awards person in live action, especially when, like Bo they were played by the voice artist.

And then the Pykes bomb the Sanctuary, which irks me. I hope Max Rebo survived and Garza, she seemed cool. (I think it’s possible as the explosion didn’t seem to damage the building so…)

But yeah it’s very much an ep of two halves, the former which while great, would have definitely worked better elsewhere. As such it felt like it took focus away. And apparently there’s only one or two eps left? Hopefully we get more of Fennec and Boba and the Pykes are dealt with. But we’ll see.

And oop, that turned out to be long, oops.

The baby penguin sounds cute.

I'm glad you've had good things along with all the bad ♥
