So the stream ended yesterday exceeding its target which was pretty awesome. It was a little quiet though. I was there for the whole thing but most of the time it was just me in the chat (until the last hourish when a load of people showed up). It felt like it was a bit weaker compared to previous years too. There weren’t any indie games showed off (apart from a bit of awesome pea which looks so hard) and there wasn’t the usual hour of getting Bobby doing a horror game which was a shame. They also, oddly, didn’t show off any of the games they had on offer despite saying Saturday they would. But despite that it was pretty entertaining. I got a good collection of games for my donations (mostly indie ones, including some that I had been wanting). I had an issue with one of the codes not working, so they switched it to one double the value and towards the end when they doubled donation amounts they said I could have an extra game for free since I’d donated so much so yay!

As for the games, I’ve been on a few of them to try. Road to Ballhalla is the one I’ve been on most. It’s a puzzle game where you control a ball, rolling it along a course to the end. It’s quite good, though the difficulty spikes once the levels lose walls. Monster Slayers was something I was interested in and as soon as I played it it made me think of Vertical drop heroes (no surprise as it’s by the same developers). It’s quite tricky and easy to die, which I guess is kinda the point. I had a hard time figuring out treadnauts, since trying to get cpus playing seems to be a nuisance. Daggerhood is quite good, with short levels that I’ve died often on But it has a strong ‘one more time feeling’. Access denied is a nice little puzzler, with you figuring out how to unlock boxes which is oddly relaxing.

I’ve got a few others that I haven’t tried yet. Conarium, Hellblade, Talos Principle, Genesis Alpha One and a few others. I put them in a group on my Xbox so I can find them easier, so I’ll have a go on them over the course of the week (and I wanna go on The Council Episode 2).

So after giving a few games a go, I decided last night that I should watch a film. I didn’t feel like going on Shudder (mostly because so many of the films on my list are subtitled and I wasn’t in the mood). So I decided to go on Netflix and watch Velvet Buzzsaw. The trailer for it gave off a Layers of fear vibe so I was intrigued enough to give it a look. Unfortunately it’s one of those films where most of the best parts are shown off in the trailers. (Seriously, watching the trailer and you’ve seen the best of the film.) Those parts are really good (as are the final scenes of the film) but mostly it’s nothing too special.

This weekend mum’s ended up being a bit of a pain. She’s acted like me being upstairs watching this whole stream was a surprise, even though she’d known it was coming for weeks. (And really, it’s just two days she can survive that without me around surely). And then she is still grumpy because she hasn’t had that bag, I’m sick of it. Every time it gets bought up, we talk it over and agree it’s not worth it (or I look into ways she could only for them not to work out). I don’t get what the fixation with it is. It doesn’t look special and I know she’d not use the damn thing anyway (and, knowing her, she’d want to send it back the moment it came). It’s just so frustrating

Speaking of frustrating. I did some uni reading today. That’s not frustrating in and of itself (in fact this week’s seems straightforward and there’s not much to do this week, though there is some videos to watch for the assessment). No what is frustrating is first trying to listen to audio while mum decided to hoover and second, the tutor not getting back to me about the project. I’d sent an email to her almost two weeks ago with a rough idea to make sure it was ok and some questions but... nothing. I’m gonna have to send her another one this week sometime, because I can’t really go forward with it until I get an ok.

On a more positive note I got an ao3 kudos email and it is pretty insane. Usually I get one or two odd ones which makes me happy enough, but for the last few days I’ve got so many they take up the screen. It’s so crazy, but so awesome as well. And I’m thrilled that it means one of my otps is finally getting some love.

Speaking of The Umbrella Academy I’m gonna start a rewatch soon. It won’t be a binge this time but a more slower paced watch (I say that now...). It’ll be the first time I’ve rewatched any series this close together (and I probably shouldn’t considering I’ve got all the things to watch) but still.

[personal profile] umbrellakink has had more prompts (maybe because I mentioned it on ao3?) but mine is the only fill so far. Hopefully they’ll be more soon!

The weather has been nice so far today with the sun out, so much so I didn’t need my jacket on while walking Naryu. We also got to see Casper again, the big white poodle that’s almost as old as Danny was. He’s lovely and so friendly. He always comes up to us for a cuddle and a fuss.

At the start of the month I started doing a Febuary love meme but at the month went on I kinda lost track. I meant to catch up on it but I never did and then I just failed. So here’s a bunch of things I love.

*Star Wars
*BB-8
*Star Wars Bloodline (seriously, it’s the best of the new canon novels that I’ve read so far)
*Resident Evil (films)
*Ringu (I need to do a rewatch)
*Lego (specifically Lego Star Wars)
*The Umbrella Academy
*Klaus Hargreeves
*QI
*Unicorns
*The Good Place
*Brooklyn 99
*Jay James, ex-bassist of Bullet for My Valentine
*Ray Toro
*My cats Leia and Midna and my dog Naryu

I think that’s enough, possibly. Also I’ll add King Falls, which I started Saturday night and it’s pretty good so far! Funny and strange in a similar way to Night Vale but in a completely different way (I think having two regular voices really helps it).

Lastly, I’m gonna include a few pics under the cut.

Now I’m gonna sort out the food shop and then I’ll read, possibly Canto Bight. Maybe I’ll read some outside if it stays nice.

So this weekend hasn’t been too exciting. After The Lego Movie 2 I ended up spending the rest of Saturday afternoon/night dozing. I blame walking to Cannock and back which is tiring. When I was in Cannock I got something to lighten my hair to dye it again, though dunno when I’ll do it. Hopefully before Umbrella Academy.

I didn’t watch a Shudder film on Saturday (or Sunday), but I did finish Nightflyers, so I’m gonna post some (general) thoughts about it, since [personal profile] mr_picard asked about it.

First off I’ll deal with what he asked when I first mentioned it, is it a more horror or sci-fi? Early episodes (and the one on the other spaceship) definitely have horror elements (and they do come back towards the end too) but it’s definitely much more sci-fi than horror.

As a whole, I enjoyed the series, even though most of the characters turn out to be unlikable for various reasons. A lot happens in the very last ep and so that one feels a tad rushed (but I’m not sure if an extra ep would have helped? Maybe having it just 15 minutes longer like the opening ep would have been enough to help). The end was also a bit... well. The right word has left my head. I don’t think there’ll be a follow up, but there is the potential for one.

Yesterday we watched a few Enterprise eps, continuing the Xindi arc. These included Proving Ground, which featured Shran who I love and Harbinger with the first appearance of the sphere builders.

I didn’t feel like gaming after watching them, so I finished off Carmen Sandiego instead. The eps are pretty inconsistent but overall I’ve enjoyed the series as a whole. The animation is nice and the opening song gets stuck in my head. I hope they do more.

Sunday night I ended up, finally, doing the rewatch of Solo. It’s still awesome and I love it. The soundtrack especially is awesome. It still makes me long for a Lando film (or series, they could easily do the Calrissian chronicles) and a follow up to the Maul and Qi-Ra storyline. I really hope the negativity surrounding it doesnt mean we never find out what happens. (Especially since there is a lot of love for it from people that have seen it.)

I do hope that future ‘a Star Wars story’ films (damn I really dislike that subtitle) don’t kill off all their characters. Most of the new characters in Solo and Rogue One are dead by the end (especially Rogue One). In fact the only characters that made it out of Rogue One were those that were saved by canon.

After Solo I did go on ESO but then got really tired. When I was in bed I got some cuddles from Leia which was nice.

This morning was another slow day, where it took me awhile to get going to actually do uni stuff. I did finish off question 3 though, which is good. Just gotta finish of a bit from 1 and 2 which should be doable tomorrow.

Annoyingly when I woke I realised that my porg bracelet has lost the porg... but I dunno when. It could be in the bed, in the house or when I was walking to the cinema or at the gig. It really bothers me now I’ve realised it.

I might try writing more today. I finished one terday so now I have three going: the Toro fic, the no tags fic and one other. I think I have a vague idea for no tags so that might be the priority (since it needs to be ready for Saturday).

I’m gonna read now then sort the food shop.

So there was no post yesterday because nothing terribly exciting happened (though damn it means I broke my posting streak, ah well).

My stomach felt a little iffy and I think it was due to the filled pasta I ate Monday (since it started up after it). Thankfully it seems to have past now,

The latest Xbox magazine came Monday so I spent a little time reading it yesterday. I read the bit about the games coming out this year. There’s quite a few interesting games coming out this year, but Ooblets and Tunic are still the ones I’m most looking forward to (and The Sinking City). I have so many games on the Xbox that I need to finish or play (I blame games with gold and the various fraffles that I’ve won from streams and such). I have been good though, not getting anything from recent games with gold sales (although I am thinking of using the £5 from Xbox rewards to get the council from this week’s sale). I’m gonna read the article about indies today.

There was an ep of Inside Xbox last night too but there wasn’t much interesting. Astroneer comes out fully today which is good and the Metro Exodus trailer was pretty creepy (I need to have a go on the Metro games). The Halo outpost thing looked pretty cool, though of course it’s america only so far.

After that I watched Tattoo Fixers which is always amusing. I loved the pretty guy that was dressed as a pup (and he has a boyfriend that does to and is into watersports, relationship goals).

I watched the Sleepy Hollow ep from last week and it was pretty good too. It seems since the horsemen have been beaten the quality of the eps has risen. I fully expect the horsemen will return at some point, but the series works better with standalone stuff.

I watched an ep of Nightfliers too, thoughts under the cut.

Before I went to bed I put on the new Dreamboy which is suitably strange but a little more self contained then usual. There are a lot more mysteries to it of course, which I bet will get covered (or not) as the series progresses.

I didn’t write much yesterday, just a few words. I do wanna finish the Ray fic before [community profile] no_tags on Friday.

It feels like my glasses are being more annoying. The frame around one lens is fucked so it keeps popping off at the slightest thing. I’m not sure why it tends to happen to my glasses (this isn’t the first pair it’s happened to) because it’s not as if I take them off much. (And I can’t blame Naryu for it because it was already screwy before she ran off with them the other day.)

I did some uni stuff this morning, the first parts of the next assessment, though it did take me awhile to get going. (Partly because Naryu decided to be cuddly for some reason.) At least the first question is mostly done. Tomorrow I’m gonna do question 2 which uses google earth. Ugh

(Although I am glad that, since I used my laptop for it, I didn’t open tumblr.)

Saturday I’m hoping to see the Lego movie 2 but the local cinema has a projector down so I guess it depends on if they get it fixed in time. If so I’ll watch the first one Friday night.

February love meme

5: Today I’m doing two things since I missed yesterday. So first is...

It’s Prince Sidon, Zora Prince! I love him so much, he is so sweet and so positive and just <3 (and also just look at him, ngh!) he is easily my favourite part of Breath Of The Wild. Since I got the game on release, I ran into him before seeing the utter thirst he caused and I completely understand it. He’s just the best. Every scene with him is amazing and I loved that to get on the one beast meant Link had to ride on his back around it. Yes!

A number of times when I went on Breath Of The Wild, I’d go back to him just for his positivity. He’d always make me smile with it. He’s the best.

Surprisingly, I’ve not actually read any Link/Prince Sidon fic despite my love for him (I have no idea why really) instead I have mostly loved the amazing art of him that the internet has put out there. Yess 💜

6: Today’s one is one of the films I love the most.

Yep, it’s Mamma Mia! I just love this film, it’s so funny and fun, it always makes me smile. Plus whenever I watch I end up with ABBA stuck in my head. I rememeber when we went to see it, I was going to go take mum to see something else (though what I can’t remember) but we ended up watching it instead. Seeing it was just something we needed at the time and it filled me with joy which not many films do. It’s one of the few things I have in multiple formats, having it on dvd as well as Blu Ray.

We did end up seeing the musical in London one time too and it was so fun as well. I just love it.

The sequel isn’t quite as joy filled (due to the undercurrent of sadness through the whole thing) but it’s still good.

Anyway, I’m gonna read more of the Xbox magazine, then hopefully more claustrophilia before watching the usual stuff (and more Nightfliers) tonight.

So after my post last night I had a mini pizza and watched the first ep of Nightfliers on Netflix.

It’s... intruiging. Obviously the first ep of anything is set up, acting as an introduction to the premise and characters. It did it pretty well, though of course things are unclear (after all there is a mystery to solve). It’s rather... brutal too. It’s not something that can really be binged either. I’ll definitely watch more but it is something I’ll watch one episodes at a time rather than all in one go or over a weekend.

I then watched a Qi on Netflix and started the new Night Vale, though I did end up dozing during the weather. I did end up finishing it up this morning and it was pretty good.

I spent most of the morning in bed which I really needed. I forgot how exhausting being all at gigs was. After Night Vale I put on Sappenin cause this one had Gavin on so double the Welsh. The highlight was definitely them saying the Rhys put ‘a big purple cock’ on Matthew’s mic one gig which is just a hilarious image. It also made me miss The Blackout more of course.

This I spent so long in bed there’s not time to watch Solo alas but that’s ok. I did watch Star Wars All Stars after taking the pup out, which was pretty funny.

After that I put on the new Star Trek Discovery, thoughts under the cut.

I’m gonna have noms soon and then I may see about writing some more. Tonight, after The Voice I might watch something on a Shudder, or just go back on Assassins Creed some more, we’ll see.
shadowhive: (Moose Gloves)
I'm gonna make this a sticky post and keep adding to it. This is mostly for my own reference so everything's together. Obviously, from the subject this is a list of things I need to watch both from the random dvds/blu rays I have to watch and streaming things. Right now this is just a preliminary list, with things being added to it later.

I'll also cross things off as I watch them.
