Another post today it seems.

A few things happened today after the last post. I had an Elder Scrolls crate come, which I’m still surprised they’re sending. It was better than the last one (the last seemed lacking cause it had socks as a wearable). This one had a pretty tray, a nice big soft blanket, a key ring (would be useless as one but nice for display), a sweet roll pin and a lil plush dragon.

I should have have something else coming soon but it seems not. I’d preordered the splatfest Pokémon tees only to get an email today saying the order is cancelled. But when I checked the account it still says awaiting dispatch so I dunno what’s going on.

This afternoon I had to head to Home Bargains to pick up dry food for the cats (there was only half a bag left mum informed me as we walked Naryu). One reason why I was eager to go was because when we went before Christmas there was Sonic figures, including one of Shadow. Alas there wasn’t Shadow today which is a shame (it was around when the money issues were going on so I didn’t wanna get him). I did get sonic though and it’s… ok. It’s not as poseable as it makes out (though I’d still like Shadow if anyone sees one). I also had two league of legends figures and I’m not sure why other than they looked cool and were insanely reduced (about 90% off) and I’m a sucker for a bargain.

I did get tired after walking back. I meant to do a post when I got back but just felt too drained. I tried to doze but… had no real luck.

So I thought about making a post on The Rig and someone asked for my thoughts so I’m gonna post them here. Thoughts are divided in two: non-spoiler thoughts above the cut and more spoilers thoughts under it.

So I heard of The Rig when I saw Radio times tweet about it a few weeks ago, with the post being about a trailer for it. I watched the trailer and was instantly curious. Some sort of mysterious goings on at sea on a rig? I was immediately curious. Especially since nightmare yearnings had a story set on rig. And I think there needs to be more sea based spookyness.

So what’s the premise? The show is set out on an oil rig in the North Sea. Things seem normal enough, until they lose communication with the main land. Then there’s a tremor. And then a mysterious fog rolls in…

As I mentioned in a post at the time, it was released last week and I intended to watch one ep on Friday, but I ended up watching the next straight after it (and would have watched more if I wasn’t feeling tired). Over the next two days I did the same, watching two eps a night, so I watched the whole thing over a weekend which, considering I rarely binge, I feel says a lot.

I’d say after watching it that it’s less a horror (though it has some elements) but more a drama/mystery type deal.

If you’re interested it’s on Amazon prime.

Challenge #2

In your own space, write a promo, manifesto or primer for your fave character, ship or fandom. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I did do something like this with some of my streamers, first here and then a more general one here

However I’ve used this post as an excuse to finish something else off, a rec post for Doctor Who episodes that I started working on awhile back and figured it fit this. So under the post is a bunch of Who related thoughts.

(Also apparently there’s more Who animations coming for the anniversary, how exciting!)

New year

This was gonna be part of the first snowflake challenge post but I figured it should be it’s own thing instead (if only to make it easier to sticky) so snowflake will be later.

Happy new year, I hope this year is better than the last.

As someone said a few days ago (it was on stream but I can’t remember who) last year felt more like three. The last fourth (maybe even third) was really hard and just.. bleh.

But anyway.

Yesterday I spent it, after the last post, I watched a few things. I’m putting thoughts on them under the cut so people that haven’t seen them can avoid spoilers (Strange World, Frozen 2, Yesterday). Before that I also had a delivery of the replacement earth orbit thing which impressed me cause I didn’t expect that. I’ve not checked it yet to start it but might tomorrow)

We spent new years night watching bbc 1, including Sam Ryder’s new year thing which was ok. I dunno it just wasn’t one of the best and I can’t place why. Though kudos to him for really trying.

Following it was the big Eurovision party which was definitely better. There was so many great Eurovision songs on it, I think my far was Subwoolfer’s one and the Ukrainian section towards the end. You also have to give Lordi credit too, they always come on these things and put on a good show despite being the obvious odd one out. I might watch it again some point.

Today I was gonna try and watch the new years concert but it was on too early and cause it’s a life thing it took awhile to appear on iplayer (it’s up there now though so I might watch tomorrow). Instead of watching that I did some a Pokémon Violet, not much but enough to do a gym, yay!

Tonight I’m gonna watch a bunch of things (I might do the snowflake thing during call the midwife) and I might game some after this post,

Do I have New Year’s resolutions? I didn’t really have anything specific in mind but I’m gonna post some thoughts now.

*Each month I wanna watch at least one thing on each of the following: Amazon prime, Disney+, Netflix, shudder (cause I’ve been faily at that)
*I want to finish at least one book a month (or maybe every two)
*I want to finish one game a month (again, maybe every two)
*I want to post one fic a month (at least)

Christmas Day was pretty good, I built my Lego (though the end tail piece has gone missing which is annoying) and it’s bigger than I expected.

I watched a few films, Abominable which I’ve seen before and is pretty good, Shaun The Sheep Farmageddon which was so fun, I love the lil alien she was so cute, and the live action Aladdin which was better than I expected to be.

A Christmas highlight though wasn’t a show but this, the trailer for the new Who specials next year that was on after strictly (which I dozed through most of).

Alas there’s no exact date of when it starts but there’s a lot there. The focus is clearly on Donna (I have feels already) but there’s other things too. There’s the character played by Neil Patrick Harris (which has been speculated to be the celestial toymaker since forever), and then there’s some bug aliens (people are saying they’re Wrarth Warriors from the comics) and what looks like Beep the Meep (qlso from the comics). I’m not super familiar with those comics (they’re way back from the 70’s) but they look cool and cute. I’m also not sure if this is all from one episode or if it’s from multiple (they haven’t said how many they are next year). I can see the Wrarth warriors being one ep and then toymaker (if that is him) being another. I guess we’ll see but I’m excite!

(I should do my Who thoughts on next doctor ep too, maybe next post)

I also made a start on Sonic Frontiers that night, which I’m enjoying. I’m not sure yet if sonic really fits the open world style yet, but I am liking it (and the Kocos are so cute!) it does feel odd I have two chaos emeralds already though, since usually those things are so hard to get. I’ve only really had trouble with one thing on it so far (how are you supposed to fight the squid thing?)

Yesterday was pretty good, I watched Frozen (still love it, though it made me wanna watch Frozen 2), did some more Sonic and watched Ghostbusters. I also got Elden Ring (I got £10 for Christmas off someone, plus used Microsoft points so it was only £15 when you think about it) and watched Death In Paradise (which was spooky and I got likes from the official twitter).

Todays plan? I’m gonna watch The Never Ending Story then may watch something before Ghostbusters too (and then see what Riptide is later) I still hope to finish fic today too. I can feel I’m close. I hope to find the missing Lego part too, I think it got flung instead of just fell which is why we’ve had no luck.

I’m gonna be doing the fannish 50 thing next year, which is here. I might make the who rec post as part of that (it’s really hard for some doctors for one of two reasons)

And yeah I’m listening to new Who music and it’s making me watch eps damnit! Maybe I should watch some after the Christmas ep run but do I watch a series or just random ones?
