We Only See Each Other at Weddings and Funerals

So today hasn’t been an exciting day, not really.

I spent the morning listening to the new Night Vale which was as weird as always. I also had a Naryu with me, licking me a lot this morning for some baffling dog reason.

As I posted earlier my The Umbrella Academy tee came so I have that. As the last post shows I put it on instantly and have worn it all day.

When we walked Naryu she jumped through the fence to get to the horses since one was near. Thankfully I pulled her back and the horse wasn’t bothered.

Resistance is finally gonna come back to Disney Xd next week, woo! Finally!

This afternoon I watched the last Castle ep which was sad. The ending felt a little rushed, clearly done because there wasn’t gonna be any more. That was sad, it’s such a fun show. After that I watched the second Agent Carter ep of season two which was pretty good. Shame about the scientist.

I got tired then so had a nap.

After that I started work on the fic, a Diego/Klaus fic (surprise surprise) for the fandom_fanworks restraints challenge. I also watched the Independence Day sequel which... wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Though it seems there’s gonna be another follow up.

After that I did some gaming. I went on Battlefront (still not tried Anakin), then Conarium (I finished the bit I got stuck on, but I noped out of a bit, thankfully it seems to be something a lot of people get stuck on so...) then finished a quest on ESO.

Summary:

It’s been so long coming—pun intended—and Klaus can’t figure out if he wants it to last or wants to come right this second.

So cause my tee came I decided to start my (slower) watch of The Umbrella Academy. Tonight I watched episode one, while settled with Doritos and Fanta. My thoughts are under the cut.

So let’s start with my favourite scenes. My two favourite ones book end the episode so it’s appropriate to put it first. My first is just after the opening, where we get the character introductions for the 1-4 and 7. It’s amazing how much of their characters come through in such a short amount of time. And I think it serves as a great introduction as to who these characters are.

My other favourite scene is right towards the end and it’s the reveal of Ben. He doesn’t say or do anything but his presence is enough. Indeed it made me squee inside first time round, (In the comics Ben is seen maybe once or twice in a story arc and always just in flash back. His death is as mysterious as it is in the show too.) it does make me wonder what Ben would have done the rest of the episode.

As everyone knows now, I love Klaus. He was my favourite in the comics so naturally I was nervous about his portrayal. However once I saw the first trailer I knew he was going to be perfect and he just was. I love that we get him in a skirt in the very first episode and that he invites himself with Diego at the end. He’s just so sweet.

Going from just this episode my next favourite character is Five. I am still so impressed that they managed to find someone that captured the role so perfectly. After all it was the toughest one of the main cast to cast, but they totally found the right guy with him. His snark is just spot on.

I’m not going to analyse everyone else, because a lot more character development happens in later episodes. But I did love that they established Diego and Luther’s rivalry early on (and I loved Klaus during the fight, cheering for him to hit him and trying to shield Five).

The series did start of strong and I’m really glad for that. And it’s amusing the sales of some of the songs featured has gone up (I know Tiffany has fully embraced it which is pretty cool)..

I’ll probably make this a weekly thing (and switch trying to watch Shudder stuff to Sunday). For now, though, I’m gonna head up to bed and read a fic before sleep. Tomorrow I hope to work on this fic more and watch Enterprise.

It's a good idea having a rewatch. I know for me, while I didn't watch as fast as some, it was still fast enough that some details blurred.

As much as I love Klaus, Five still grabs my attention big time, and right from the first moment. I'm sure a lot of that is due to the amazing casting.
