Like A Broken Drumstick
Pairing: Bob Bryar/Ray Toro
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Angstyness

raveninthewind’s snowflake prompt, Ray and Bob after Bob leaving. I have no idea why Bob left so I’m making the reasons up for this
Ray walked quickly after Bob as he stormed away. He hated everything about this whole situation, it made him sick to his stomach, the thought of just kicking Bob out. And now the day had come and Bob was... well he was angry. Of course he was. He had every right to be.
“Bob wait!”
Bob spun around and there was fury clear on his features. He took a few steps towards him, glaring. “What is it Toro? Kicking me out not enough for you, you wanna rub salt in the wound?”
“No that’s not...”
Bob growled, shoving Ray against the wall. “What? What is it? Why are you following me Toro huh?” Up close Ray could see that there wasn’t just anger in those eyes, he could see that they were shining with tears. “I gave up my life to tour with you guys. I stood by you, I did everything I could. I put with your shit, kept your secrets. I even got fucking burned on that stupid video. And now you just want to fucking throw me away like I’m nothing.”
Ray winced at his words, looking away. He was right and he had fought for him every step of the way, he had tried so hard to stop this from happening. “It’s not like that Bob. I’m sorry, I truly am. I tried to...”
“Tried to what, huh?” Bob was shaking and Ray wasn’t sure what to expect. “I thought we meant something Toro.”
That stung again and Ray turned back, their eyes meeting again. Bob just looked sad now, like he was on the verge of crying. Ray didn’t think he’d ever saw Bob cry, not in sadness anyway. “We do. I just...” He reached up, stroking Bob’s arm gently, but Bob shook him off. “You know how bad Gerard used to be, how he’d get wasted all the time. It almost killed him. I can see it with you. You’re drinking more and more and we’ve just been... so concerned. I tried, I tried to steer you away...”
“Yeah, good job you guys did there Toro.” Bob looked away from him. “So what, I’m nothing but damaged goods now Toro? I’m not worth the effort to fix.”
“That’s not it at all...”
“I’m just the drummer though right? You can just kick me out and replace me no fucking problem and no one will give a fuck. If I was one of you things would be different though wouldn’t they?” Bob shook his head at that and Ray swallowed, his words like a punch to a gut. “Fuck you. Fuck all of you.” Bob stepped away from him, wiping his face with the back of his hand. “I need a fucking drink.”
Ray wanted to stop him, but he knew it would do no good. All he could do was watch as Bob walked away, his demeanour now much different than the anger of when he first left them. Ray hated this, hated all of this. He took a deep breath, then put his head in his hands. He should go back to the others, to join them in the studio to deal with the fall out of their decision. He should, but he didn’t.
Stuffing his hands in the pockets of his hoodie, he followed after Bob, knowing he had to make sure he didn’t do anything stupid. After all someone had to stand by him.

Date: 2019-01-26 01:36 pm (UTC)Most common theory: Bob wasn't happy with the band dumping the album after the Black Parade (the record was done, and they just trashed it). It probably cost them a lot of money to start over, and *shrug*.
Bob had been an asshole on social media after My Chem split, and for a while afterwards. I don't know how he's doing now, because I stopped following him a while ago.
Fanon!Bob is pretty awesome in most fic, though.

Date: 2019-01-28 06:42 pm (UTC)I think that seems like. He’d probably not want an album dumped and he likely got frustrated with it. (Which is pretty understandable really)
He hasn’t posted since 2017. I think he was just pissed off, probably understandably so and he lashed out. I just felt sorry for him really
Yeah, fanon!Bob is awesoms💜

Date: 2019-01-28 05:37 pm (UTC)Thanks for this story--the moment at the end helps. I do think Bob had a spiral downward and has had to pull himself together to sart over again. (He has never seemed very happy about being a realtor.)
