So yesterday was one of those days where it felt like everyone decided to do everything on the same day because there was so much.
It started like a few days this week, with my head feeling fuzzy. It was less depression/anxiety type fuzzy more headachy fuzzy. I think I might have to take up a pack of meds so I have them upstairs to see if it helps, especially cause I felt that way today too. Or maybe it’s just causa the annoying sudden cold. It’s especially annoying cause I still haven’t read what I was going to, hopefully today cause the same fuzziness was there this morning.
There was the fortnite new season update yesterday, which felt like it took forever to go live. It’s not a completely new map, only the south eastern corner has changed, but it looks so pretty. It’s part Japanese style buildings with a cyberpunk style city at it’s heart. Also the main battle pass character is called Renzo The Destroyer and he looks so cool! Just look at him! He’s now my new main, at least until Leon comes out (probably around the Resident Evil release)
Speaking of Leon (although I didn’t find this out until later in the day) the game voice actor for him is gonna be at Insomnia next month, along with the actress that plays the tall vampire lady. I’m still waiting for the schedule to go live but it’s tempting me. (And it’s not as if insomnia sells out)
Yesterday was also the finale of this series of Father Brown which was pretty good, if sad that it seems Goodfellow isn’t gonna be running things like it seemed he would going forward. I hope that doesn’t mean he’s sent elsewhere. This series has felt a little odd though, mainly because of how Mrs M was unceremoniously written out and not given a farewell ep. It makes me think that something has happened to the actress which meant she couldn’t come back (but if not…. Then it seems a pretty lousy thing to do).
After that there was Picard.
Unlike previous eps this season things were wisely kept just on the Titan. It kinda felt like some parts from last week were resolved a bit quickly (in other series we’d have got at least a slight focus on the engineering teams fixing the damage but this was pretty glossed over) but especially Riker sending Picard off the bridge felt slightly downplayed.
Seven being unfamiliar with changelings seems to imply that Borg didn’t have any dealing with the dominion (although of course having them explained to her was a good to explain them to unfamiliar audiences). But even so she managed to kick their asses. (Although I still don’t get, if getting Jack is their main objective, why the operative didn’t take him last week and didn’t even try to this week).
Speaking of the Borg we also find out why Shaw was such a dick to Seven and Picard which makes me wonder exactly who the hell in starfleet thought putting Seven with him was a good idea. Someone absolutely dropped the ball there. (And yeah it makes for drama but it just seems like something that should absolutely not have happened in an organisation like starfleet)
It also comfirmed that Vadic was a changeling (the changeling effect seems… oddly fleshy now, I’m not sure if I like it) and she reports to someone higher (and it’s clear her crazy act is just that).
The end was nice, with all the pretty jellyfish, Riker talking to Deanna and Jack seeing that… whatever it is. Seems it’s not what was in the nebula but might be why he’s being hunted?).
The new Sorry vid was yesterday and this time it was in a prison which… yeah. It felt more than once that the scenes could have been the start of a porn. It was wild. Wilbur went live later and did a watch of the first vids and it seems the next one is gonna be a bank robbery (and more are gonna be filmed after the tour)
At the same time as Wilbur’s stream Quackity’s thing got announced and from the trailer (with two Quackity’s which is 👀) it’s gonna be a bilingual server which makes me wonder exactly what that means and who is involved. I guess we’ll see soon cause the date is this month.
(And speaking of smps it seems the dreamsmp isn’t getting a season 2 after all which makes the ending all the more annoying and frustrating)
Who thoughts now. I did some Lost In Time and unlocked Leela yesterday which was awesome, because she’s one of my fav old Who companions.
Last night I watched The Time Meddler, the last ep of season 2. As a finale it’s a pretty good one. Obviously that’s in large part due to the Monk (who is that titular meddler) so it’s a bit of a shame this is the only one of his two eps that’s complete (and that he never showed up again after that).
Vicki and Steven (who randomly shows up in the tardis after coming in unseen in the last ep, most likely when the doctor was sorting the Dalek time ship to send Ian and Barbara back) spent a good portion of the ep separated from the doctor investigating. They seem to be a pretty decent team, with Vicki being pretty sensible to match Steven’s rudeness.
The ep’s also the first to be historical but not a pure historical, which proves to be a massive thing going forward (thankfully because the pure historicals are, mostly, kinda eh, bar the obvious one). Is the Monk really as benevolent in his intentions as he claims to be? I don’t know. He certainly seems to be… but then in his very next appearance he’s with the daleks.
Overall though this season has felt like kinda a weaker one, in more ways than one, though it has given me a new appreciation for Vicki. I should’ve done rankings for seasons before when I finished them so I’m gonna start now.
*The Rescue
*The Time Meddler
*The Web Planet
*The Chase
*The Crusade
*The Space Museum
*Planet Of Giants
*Dalek Invasion Of Earth
*The Romans
Next week is a gap week before season 9 comes so either I won’t be watching anything definitely Though I might watch Robots Of Death.
This morning some mail came. There was some free samples I forgot I sent for, Lego explorer magazine (that I ordered from eBay and it turns out I need ent have rushed cause the next one is put at the end of the month) and the new Elder scrolls loot crate which felt a bit random.
Today I’m gonna be watching some stuff, maybe fic and hopefully read. And tonight I want to finish the Who ray special features too.

Date: 2023-03-13 06:58 pm (UTC)I watched The Time Meddler on Saturday too. I agree it's a great pity the Monk didn't get to show up in more adventures. The interplay between him and the Doctor was fantastic. I also really, really like the dynamics in the TARDIS team. They complement and play off each other so well. Something else that struck me during this rewatch was how little you actually notice it's a completely studio-bound production. (Apart from a few stock sequences of sky and water and the Viking ship scenes that I think noone's been able to source yet.) It FEELS like they're outside even though they're not. Douglas Camfield really was a fantastic director!
Your ranking is interesting. I would probably change The Time Meddler and The Rescue around and put The Space Museum before The Crusade. And I would definitely move The Web Planet to the bottom of the list :-)

Date: 2023-03-14 01:57 am (UTC)Awww yeah it’s a shame. It’s strange he only got like two appearances (but then I haven’t seen Dalek master plan even what there is so maybe there’s a reason in there?) I know he’s had some audios though. (I distinctly remember him being in one with the 8th doctor… and Susan)
Yeah I loved their interactions. And also how Steven tricked him into giving a description of the doctor. That’s so true! I definitely felt some of it were outside.
I think I like The Rescue so much cause it’s a mystery but it’s fairly straightforward and not… padded out, like some tend to be. I think Space Museum and crusade are pretty close together. That’s valid! Hopefully I can do rankings for other seasons going forward, I dunno why I haven’t before
