Yesterday ended up being better than I expected (I might make a post about why some other time). Because of Dreamlight Valley I ended up watching two films on Disney+, Ducktales and Sword In The Stone. Both were entertaining enough, though obviously some things in the opening of the Ducktales film have ages… poorly.
Then I played Dreamlight some more, including unlocking a new area (and finding Kristoff!) as well as Maui.
It felt that yesterday also had a lot of things happening. There was the Disney expo, which wasn’t streamed but did reveal some trailers. For Star Wars there was ones for Andor, Tales Of The Jedi and the Mandalorian, all which seemed pretty awesome. There was also a first pic from Skeleton Crew and some from Ahsoka.
There was also Marvel reveals and a few trailers. I think the one I’m most interested in is Werewolf By Night which is a special for Halloween season which is shot in black and white for some reason but it looks pretty cool.
Then there was the Ubisoft stream, which looked cool with Rabbids and Mario stuff, as well as a long one about Assassins Creed. Mirage seems to be going back to somewhere from the early games, which I have no attachment to but I’m curious about cause they have Shohreh Aghdashloo voicing a main character.
The main thing last night though was Quackity’s lore that can be watched here
Some thoughts under the cut (so anyone that might wanna watch can avoid them)
The start made me think of the start of Wilbur’s last lore, because it featured a flashback to the L’manberg days with Tommy. I honestly expected Wilbur to show up as well, but he didn’t though he was mentioned.
Then there was the grand opening of Las Nevadas… and there was only three people there. I felt so bad for c!Quackity for that, but it was hardly a surprise (c!foolish mentioned war but there isn’t one, instead I’m sure they’re more nervous for c!Dream despite him laying low). Who was there was surprising though because there was c!Skeppy which was a surprise, even though he said nothing too. C!Fundy was there too and he didn’t have a role in the lore other than that, and also said nothing (which was a surprise, cause one of the merch items is a Fundy card deck so I expected him to be in it more).
I honestly expected c!Quackity’s plan to make an… army of slime citizens to go terribly wrong and backfire on him so it was a surprise they came to the rescue at the end. (I guess it means when Wilbur came Quackity was there.) it did see odd he’d want them indoctrinated to kill, especially when Las Nevadas is meant to be an entertainment hub.
Interesting thing, someone posted a clip from the indoctrination video for them of the men that are enemies. It’s interesting both who is included in that list and who isn’t. Karl, Wilbur, Ranboo and Schlatt are on the list (despite the latter being dead). Sapnap, George and Tubbo aren’t on the list (Sapnap being most surprising, also surprising is Techno’s absence who would surely have been there if things were different).
I’d had a feeling that c!Purpled would be involved, possibly with c!Dream and I was right. However I didn’t expect c!Punz to show up as Dream’s messenger, but that was an awesome scene between them, very manipulative. (And while Punz says he’s doing it just for the money it’s clear Dream trusts him an awful lot).
Then there was an odd thing in limbo with Ranboo and Mexican Dream. It’s odd because it came out of nowhere and kinda had… no bearing on anything. (I’d half expected a post credits scene with Mexican Dream taking Ranboo to the party with Schlatt but it didn’t happen). Now Quackity is the kind of person that doesn’t do anything for no good reason, especially with a passion project like this, so I can only guess it’s some sort of set up with the payoff happening later.
Then there’s the big confrontation between Dream and Purpled, and Quackity. Thankfully Quackity gets the word out to foolish via fireworks and he releases the slimes to attack. Who knows what happened to them though, along with Dream.
Quackity does get through to the returned slime and he saves him by killing Purpled (so he’s lost a life now, his first I think) but then Slime gives him a monologue about the lessons Quackity taught him in the last stream and… ouch. He really got him didn’t he? And then he kills c!Quackity, not because he was manipulated into it by Dream and Purpled but because of Quackity’s own lessons. Ouch.
It ends on a positive note though. While it was dubbed as The End Of Las Nevadas, it’s not really. Quackity and a foolish are gonna rebuild it, repairing the damage done, and it’s gonna continue to be a country. So really it’s just the end of it in season 1 and it’s gonna come back in season 2. And so is everyone involved, which really, is the best outcome that could be expected.
Although a part of me had wondered if the photoshoot had been part of a video at the end, but nope.
(I’d hoped to make icons from the photoshoot this morning but alas, stuff needed updating because of course it did)
And now I want merch, but especially those cool looking card decks. Please stay in stock.
I’m gonna hopefully work on fic more as well as watching random stuff on tv, but we’ll see.
