Feb. 10th, 2024 12:43 amSo the past few days have been a big drain between stress, headache and depression/anxiety which all feels like it’s feeding into each other which is exhausting. So I haven’t got round to finishing snowflake or done much of anything.
However
turps posted about this meme so I’m gonna do so it’s a drive by thing of good recent things cause who knows if I’ll have focus again to talk about these things individually.

You could say technically the first post for this was the recent song Saturday but I didn’t think to include it oop.

First is something I mentioned in a recent post, the new Magic Arena set came out. It’s a game I love and I feel it works best doing it digitally (so you don’t have to worry about finding people in real life and cause it does all the things automatically/prompts you for things you’d forget). I’d say the only downside has been it skipped the recent Doctor Who stuff but I hope they come cause they look awesome.
Anyway the new set is called Murders At Karlov Manor and it’s a murder mystery type deal. They’re been doing a special Claudio set based on ti which is cool. I’m liking the new mechanics and stuff, though as with all new stuff it’s a bit tricky to get used to. But look! The set mastery thing has a lil mile friend! They’re so cute! And I love how some of the cards are mystery tropes too (there’s even a card called Red Herring).

I probably shoulda posted this in the recent post, but ahh! Sleep Token ticket confirmation! It’s still wild that I’m seeing them (their last album, Take Me Back To Eden, is so awesome) though I admit nerves are setting in since it’s my first arena gig in years and I know it’ll be crazy and expensive and peoplely ugh. But it’ll hopefully be worth it.

There is an advantage to my eyes aching and that’s that it means I listen to audio stuff more. First off over past few days (well just over a week) I’ve listened to this. Eighth Of March is a boxset that was done for International Women’s Day a few years back. The four audios are naturally focussed on female characters, though the only connection is that they’re set on Eighth Of March but in various times and places.
Since there’s nothing connecting them, they’re all very different but I found I enjoyed them all and it’s tricky to pick which one was my favourite. The first story, Emancipation, has River and Leela together which somehow works really well. I’ve not listened to any of the River Song audios (despite having some from Humble Bundle and a previous freebie) but that makes me curious. The second, The Big Blue Book, has Benny and Ace. Beeny’s an audio only character and I’d not heard her before but, again, this has made me curious. They really bounced off each other really well.
Third is Inside Every Warrior, which was with The Paternoster Gang of Jenny, Strax and Vastra. Apparently it was the first one done with the three of them which was a surprise but they work so well together as always. Though again it makes me sad they’ve not been on screen in so long. Lastly was Narcissus which was a UNIT story, with Kate and the Osgoods which I think worked really well too. It was the first one I’ve heard that’s featured the double Osgood too so it makes me curious about the audio UNIT’s timeline. (I’ve tried to keep thoughts general so I don’t reveal plot spoilers for the eps in case anyone wants to listen)

I also finished The Tenth Doctor Volume 3 at last, I think it took me so long to listen to the last one, The Creeping Death, cause it was the least interesting from the description but actually I really enjoyed it and one of the last scenes was crazy. I love how easily the Doctor and Donna are with each other, they really are so great together. And also it’s wild that the setting was a thing that happened. Like what do you mean there was a smog cloud so sever in London it killed people?

Speaking of finishing things, I finished Super Mario Wonder at last. I got it for my birthday (cause it came out the same day)and it was a lot of fun! Though cause of various things it’s took me awhile. When I came back to it the other week I realised I only had two main worlds to do and Bowser’s castle so I’ve took this week to do them all. I didn’t expect to do Bowser’s castle yesterday but I ended up doing that thing of ‘one more level’ about three times and then finished it. So all I have left is a few levels I missed and the bonus world.
Over all though? I really enjoyed it! It’s definitely a lot of fun. And if you’ve enjoyed 2D Mario before I think you’ll like this. I loved that this was in a completely new and different place as well, outside the mushroom kingdom and the poplin natives are so cute.
The game also has a new gimmick where each level has a wonder seed, which changes the way the level is played. I was a bit dubious about it at first, but actually they’re really fun! And you never know what you’re gonna get with them. One world can have a wonder seed which makes all the enemies sing (which is so cut!) another can change the level to a top down view, another can turn you into an enemy or a spiked ball. They’re all pretty inventive and they are really fun. I think the only thing I’ve not liked so much is the badge challenge stages cause some of them can feel needlessly hard.
I was gonna do a few more little things but I think that’s enough for now and my head is getting more achy again so I’m gonna end it there and maybe do those last things another day.
