A quick birthday post since I’m snuggled and watching Aquaman. Here is all the presents and cards that I’ve gotten.

I got a purse and pencil case from mum, a Star Wars tee and pen from Vin and Cisco, The Usef tee and sweets from a Heather. I also had cards including a nice one from [personal profile] turps <3 Mum also got me a Grievous figure who is late coming. Cody from the discord did me a Bert/Gerard fic which was so sweet. Heather’s small human also sent me some purple stuff which was cute💜

I’m gonna have cake later too, a red velvet one.

Non-birthday stuff.

I got too tired last night to finish Friday’s kinktober so I might do that soon even though I wasn’t gonna write today. I don’t wanna get further out of sync again.

I forgot to mention in the last post I did watch some spooky stuff. I watched the last two creepshow eps. The first one had something that reminded me of the kids segment in Trick R Treat. The second had something about a man in a suitcase which showed how dickish people can be. The last one had one about a scarecrow, which was a little creepy. The last one was the best, set in a broken lift with a dead body.

Last night I watched Get Out on channel 4 and I didn’t know what to expect but it was really great.

Now to watch Aquaman and snuggle.

So this weekend I planned to get a few things done, namely:
*Catch up on Devil’s Furnace (I’ve not read the last three chapters)
*Sync back up with kinktober fic
*Finish the last special feature on the season 18 bonus disc
*Try and read some of the comics
*Get back on Elder Scrolls online before the extra xp event ends (which I failed at going on)

Alas so far I’ve pretty much failed at those things, ugh.

Yesterday mum’s friend came and... she is just so loud, which means I can’t focus on anything while she’s here. This was especially annoying cause Space 1999 started on the horror channel and I just couldn’t properly follow the first one.

I ended up dozing part way through strictly and then then I watched a film on horror channel. It was called Patient Zero and I was curious since it had Matt Smith and the synopsis sounded interesting. But it turned out to be one of those films that left more questions than answers and the ending was just... unsatisfying.

After that I did a bit of gaming before the Doctor Who audio on radio 4 extra at midnight and then I just,.. crashed a bit. I think the stress of the past week must have gotten to me, plus the weather being chilly.

I’m gonna at least finish friday’s kinktober today and hopefully start one of the others too. (And finish off the who disc.)

Friday night I actually ended up watching a horror thing despite it being late. It wasn’t a film though, it was the second episode of Creepshow on Shudder. It’s about 45 minutes and there’s two segments to it.

The first was set during World War Two and was about a group of US soldiers finding a woman that had been cursed to being a werewolf. Usually I’m not a fan of war stuff but it turned out to be pretty decent and the werewolves did look pretty good.

The second was in the present day. A guy found a finger and, stupidly, took it home. After spilling something on it the finger started to regrow, becoming a hand then an arm... this one was pretty lighthearted in a way, despite the creepiness and the gore. I’m torn between deciding if the creature was cute or ugly though.

Yesterday the Doctor Who season 23 boxset came which was fast. I’ll start watching it as soon as I’ve finished season 18. I’m looking forward to it more than I’d have expected. The rest of the day was spent catching up on celebrity masterchef and dozing a bit.

Strictly last night was pretty fun, especially since there was someone dressed as Pikachu. I hope they get through tonight.

Last night’s horror film was Altitude, a blu ray I got from Poundland awhile back. Set largely on a plane it included a group of friends heading off somewhere (a festival I think) but the flight going wrong. It had the usual tropes with these things, a cute boy that dies and a guy that is an obnoxious jerk. The reveal towards the end was a bit... odd and I think I’d have preferred it if it had gone a different way. I dunno if I’ll watch it again, or what I’ll watch tonight.

Today was... ugh. It was meant to be an easy day, I was gonna listen to the Magnus archives in the morning and then watch some films on tv this afternoon. Alas I didn’t, I was too unfocused in the morning and then mum decided to be a bitch about the place, which threw me off for the whole day and drained me.

Because of my depression/anxiety I’m not the tidiest person, it takes a lot for me to get the motivation to do things and I get overwhelmed/put off easily. It’s something she doesn’t seem to quite grasp. She’ll say she does but then days like this will happen that shows she doesn’t. She expects me to be something I’m not and it just makes me frustrated and feel worse.

I spent the afternoon dozing on and off cause I just felt so... useless.

I’m gonna try and work on kinktober now.

So I know I said I was gonna use this as an excuse to watch my horror film back log, but already I’m rewatching a film. It’s cause as I turned on the Shudder app, You Might Be The Killer was playing on Shudder tv so I figured I may as well watch it from the start (plus like last night I was finishing a fic)

You Might Be The Killer is a film with a rather unique genesis. The idea comes from a twitter thread between the writers Sam Sykes and Chuck Wendig. In the thread Sam is a camp counsellor, who is contacting his friend about an entity that is murdering his fellow counsellors. As the conversation continues it becomes clear that the entity killing them is really Sam, being possessed by a mask.

The thread was super popular and it was really fun to watch. It got a lot of attention, enough that, sometime later they revealed that a movie would be based on it. You Might Be The Killer is the result. Instead of a text thread, the conversation between Sam and Chuck is done over the phone and there’s flashbacks showing the (quite bloody) killings.

It’s a fun, unique twist on the genre and there’s plenty of fun and funny moments within. (And it covers several tropes like the final girl, as well as having a nice ending which leaves a sequel possible.) all in all I do love it and it’s one of the better things I’ve seen in the app (perhaps the best)

I know, another post. I’m sure you’ll be sick of me come the end of October.

So as I mentioned I’m going to watch horror stuff for October. Instead of going through my backlog though,
I ended up putting on a film that just got added to Shudder, Don’t Knock Twice.

I wish I could say that was a good film, but I can’t. The opening had some promising moments (especially when the girl’s friend got taken over while they were video chatting) but it kinda failed at living up to that. I’m not sure how to describe how it went wrong, it just kinda... did.

I sensed the final twist coming towards the end about two thirds through.

I dunno though, I just didn’t think it was any good. Hopefully other nights will be better.
