Yesterday was pretty uneventful as days go, although I did see the baby geese! I took some pics which will be under the cut later.

Other than that yesterday was, as I said, uneventful. I did get an idea for a fic, but alas, turning the imagery into words wasn’t happening. I’m also annoyed that my zora sapphire pendant has gone. The cord came under and slipped off... and I dunno where it actually is. It sucks cause it’s so pretty. I hope it’s in the house but, like the triforce one, I think it’s gone.

I did end up watching Revenge Of The Cybermen last night and meant to post my thoughts earlier. (But it slipped my mind). Like many eps I’d only watched it once before, but I remember the dvd came in a boxset with silver nemesis in a cyberman boxset. I always thought that was odd because, unlike the Silurian and sontaran box sets, it’s not the full set of episodes with them. (Although that is, admittedly, more understandable since there’s far more cybermen eps then they are of them.) but I digress.

One good thing about these season boxsets is watching the episodes in context. This is especially good for season 12, where all the episodes follow one after the other. Revenge has some updated special effects, which look great (they’re mostly for the exterior shots of the Nerva beacon as well as the cybermen’s spaceship and some of the screens, I think anyway). However the episode itself, well it isn’t the best. First off the name. Cybermen are meant to be emotionless as the use of revenge seems odd. The cybermen also have these odd guns... in their heads. Which seems strange. Kellman’s plan seemed convoluted (being a double agent? Willingly killing his people?) and the Voga just... well they don’t look the best.

The ep does have some nice location stuff and Sarah Jane is great as always, as is the fourth Doctor and Harry. It’s just a shame really. The cybermen at this point hadn’t been seen for years (not since the second doctor, indeed the who wiki even mentions this was the first cybermen ep without him) and they’d not be seen again until Earthshock which is much better. I think one thing that lets it down is that the gold weakness isn’t mentioned until now (I don’t think anyway) so it’s significance seems sudden. And there’s another mention of cyber wars which aren’t seen. (It would be nice if the series actually showed one for once. Or better yet the Rutan-sontaran one)

I watched the making of last night which was interesting, apparently one of the guys saw a ghost and there seems to be a general feeling it was cursed. Maybe it was. It’s a shame it ends on a call from the Brigadier leading into Terror Of The Zygons (which was pushed back to season 13). I’m gonna finish the special features tonight hopefully so I can start season 14 Monday night.

Today has been oki too. I did an order on Qwertee and finally ordered the Klaus and Ben funkos. AC has been annoying cause I was hoping for Flick but nope. Hopefully tomorrow.

The new Lego Star Wars game has a Release date, my birthday, so I’m gonna ask for it. Yay!

Lastly here are the promised pics of baby geese.

I did manage to do some of the things I was going to do this weekend. I started Clone Wars season 3, finishing disc 1 Sunday night. I also watched The Mandalorian, watching the first five episodes on Sunday and then the last three yesterday.

That meant I’ve finally finished the series. I never watched the final two eps, even though I downloaded them so I finally watched them on Disney+. I really do love the series (though I was sad that Kuili and IG-11 died) and it was great that Cara appeared again in the last two episodes. I hope she comes back in season 2. Same with the armourer, who kicked ass, There’s also so many questions left open. What happened to Mandalore? Who was that with Fennec’s body? Where did The Child come from? (And I really love the child so much)

I also wanna know how Moff Gideon got the darksaber (which if you don’t know is super important, having appeared in Clone Wars and Rebels). Hopefully we’ll find out some of these things in season 2.

Yesterday morning was shopping again, which went as well as normal. There’s still some things that are missing, which are annoying, but in general I got what we needed. I also got the Lego Star Wars magazine so I got something Star Warsy, since it was Star Wars day. I also ordered a few things on sale at Forbidden Planet, though Ugh the shipping really is annoying.

Before we walked the pup my doctor who season 14 collection arrived, which I was waiting for. I can’t wait to start it since it has some great eps (and a Tribute feature about Elisabeth Sladen which I wanna see).

Monday night was a few things. The start of Endgame, the last Voyager ep which is a great ep (aside from the Seven/Chakotay thing which is just... no). The second half is tonight and then it’s next generation from Wednesday. Elementary finished on Friday so Merlin replaced it on Pick. It’s a series I’ve not seen in ages, but I remember enjoying it. The first one is a nice set up and it was strange seeing Gwen from Torchwood in it (in a really nice dress too). I forgot just how much of a dick Uther was.

After the Bone Collector and then the Monterey Bay Aquarium stream I continued my Doctor Who watch with Genesis Of The Daleks. It’s an episode, like so many old Who’s, that I’ve only seen once. (A few years ago I thought about doing a rewatch of some eps but never got around to it.)

The episode is widely regarded as one of the best but I dunno. I think, like many 6 parters, it kinda dragged. It’s an interesting ep in that it’s really about the futility of war and the Doctor’s speech of ‘do I have the right’ To destroy the daleks. (Of course, he should have, but the whole mission is really considered to be the trigger of the last great time war. Plus it’s another showcase of how the time lords are willing to use him to meddle so they don’t get their hands dirty). Davros is clearly both insane and amoral, only caring about his daleks even at the expense of his own people.

I intended to watch the special features right after, but the making of is an hour alone so I‘m gonna watch tonight instead. I then may watch the next one, Revenge Of The Cybermen, Wednesday. (And watch the special features disc. I might also put on one of the humble bundle audios, destination Nerva.)

Of course it was during the watch of Genesis that I got a nasty dm. It started out nice enough, with the person saying hi and saying if they could ask me something, so I said sure. What followed wasn’t so much a question but rather a venomous attack, again solely because of what I shipped. I blocked and reported them, but it pissed me off. (Even though I didn’t fully read it.) It led me to spite write, which I posted up last night but I dunno why people are like that. Ugh

I got a few more things today from Home Bargains, but they had no compost or sawdust, ah well. I also did this post about Animal Crossing.

So a quick post that’s less fully negative.

To my surprise the guy came to do the door, though we’re none the wiser as to what’s gonna happen next with it which seems wrong.

I ripped Heartwork to my laptop so I’m gonna copy it to my player in the morning. I love what I’ve heard so far.

There was an attempt at the uni assessment but I couldn’t focus. There’s two questions, an essay (ugh) and something about the group stuff. I didn’t do too much with it, my focus wasn’t there, so I’m not sure how to answer that but we’ll see. Ugh.

This afternoon I ended up watching The Sontaran Experiment, since my nights have been eh and the episode was short. Like Black Orchid, Experiment is two parts (roughly the length of a single regular ep of new Who) so I knew there was time. Plus there’s a few long special features on the disc to watch so I figured to watch them it’d be easier to watch the ep now.

So the ep itself. If I’m honest it’s a bit... eh. I’m not sure I can place why but it’s just not great, though it is funny how bright Sarah Jane’s coat was and the robot... I dunno why but it amused me. I think it was Sarah Jane’s reaction to the sontaran that sold the whole thing, though the experiments were suitably grim.

I guess my main issue is why would the sontaran bother? For one surely they’d already have information on humans on file (even if all the information on the poison sky fleet got lost when they were destroyed surely they had to be encountered between then). And why do it in the first place? The fleet was ready to go and could have taken Earth with no issue at least (it’s not as if there was a human population on the surface).

Maybe the making of will shed some light,

Next week is genesis of the daleks, though I’m not sure I’ll watch it Monday causa Star Wars day. Genesis is generally regarded as one of the best old Who eps but I think I only saw it once, ages ago.

Sunday was partly successful. I didn’t watch Resistance, but I did finish Clone Wars season 2 disc 2, so yay! Ironically it included the first Mandalore ep, ironic because a: The Mandalorian and b: the las Clone Wars eps are about the siege of Mandalore.

Also there was the start of Killing Eve (which is so bonkers at times, but the end! Nooo!), Batwoman (which I’m really enjoying and Trigonometry (which I think is close to finishing now but is so cute).

Sunday night my sleep was restless. I stayed downstairs causa the food shopping trip Monday morning and I just... couldn’t settle. That was annoying.

Monday I went, alone with mums friend, to be the shopping. I got pretty much everything I wanted (I didn’t get soap cause I couldn’t find it) and I got Rise of Skywalker (more later). Annoyingly the shop cost more than the last two. Why is it going up every time? I can’t wait for this to be over so I can get deliveries and know how much it’s gonna be. (I think this time it might be cause I got a few things to try but even so it seems excessive.)

After coming home and taking the pup out, mum decided to moan about the garage. I was tired, both due to poor sleep and being out so early so I had enough and went upstairs, spending the afternoon in bed. (Of course we heard nothing from my uncle, not that I’m surprised one bit.) I did come down for food but ugh, I was so annoyed.

(Which was annoying cause I slept and missed out on getting butterflies for Flick on AC, but I had ones in storage and made a ton of money so...)

After watching the usual stuff, including the Bone Collector on Sky witness (which is pretty good so far!) I ended up watching the Monterrey bay stream on twitch. They’re doing streams on Animal Crossing with other museum people and talking about the science stuff in the game and the museum exhibits. It’s really fascinating stuff.

After that I watched Ark In Space, along with all the accompanying special features. Ark In Space is definitely another solid episode of Doctor Who, it’s got an Alien vibe (despite being made a few years before) and I really do enjoy it o it was good to see it again. (Although there really could’ve been more diversity among the humans, the writer did intend it but alas it didn’t happen.) But there’s so many good moments, including the doctor’s speech about humans and Sarah Jane being awesome.

Speaking of Sarah Jane, did anyone see this which is a special mini Sarah Jane Adventures episode in tribute to her. It made me a little teary and Luke being married to a guy made me squee. (If you love Who and never watched a the Sarah Jane Adventures, please do, it really was an amazing series)

Also on Monday Elder Scrolls Online announced they’re doing a free thing for ESO plus this week. I’m gonna make use of the crafting bag and do some of the dlc dungeons while they’re free (they’re not worth buying and since a lot of people should be using them it’ll be good timing)

This morning I did some uni reading. It’s the last chapter of the last book, about bioengineering. First is about antibacterial stuff and then... I can’t remember what the other two things are.

After walking the pup we watched Rise Of Skywalker. I’m still not sure wha I think about it. I think it’s part due to missed opportunities (Finn didn’t kiss Poe and Leia, but then that one couldn’t be helped), along with things that just... came out of nowhere (Poe being a spice runner, Palpatine). There are a lot of good bits to it, especially C-3P0 and the galaxy fleet (though there could have been more).

CJ was around on Animal Crossing so I’ll be selling fish to him and making money, which is good cause info on the new update is live today. There’s gonna be Leif bringing bushes, a museum update and Redd bringing art as well as new events. I’m excited for them all! Hopefully Leif will be on the island when it goes live. (My shop is also being expanded so, yay!)

I’m gonna snuggle now and hopefully watch more Clone Wars tonight, as I really want to finish my full rewatch to get to the new eps. (And go on ESO and Gears 5). I’m hoping to work on the Waycest fic for fandom for oz but we’ll see if that works out. (I also have my eye on Chasm in the Xbox sale and Blind Men, which is a game that’s discounted and has two romanceable characters, both guys, as is the main character!)

Hope everyone is doing ok in quarantine. Stay safe.

So I didn’t watch Who on Monday cause I did end up watching a stream on twitch. It was by the Monterrey bay aquarium and it was a group of scientists talking about the stuff in the animal crossing museum. It was so fascinating hearing them talk about fossils and fish.

I ended up watching Who on Tuesday instead.

So I started season 12 which is the first season with Tom Baker as the Doctor and the opening ep was Robot which was, surprisingly, about a robot. It’s quite impressive how quickly and easily he falls into the role of the Doctor. He’s so eccentric and fun and unpredictable, it’s easy to see why he’s considered one of the best Doctors.

The same is true of Sarah Jane, who’s brave and compassionate and smart. It’s the last episode with unit for awhile, which is a shame but I think it works with the Doctor leaving now. And overall it was a pretty solid story to end that era on.

Today we saw mum’s friend and we, or rather me, will be going again with her Monday. Hopefully it’ll be a smaller shop this time, but I intend to get Episode IX if they have it.

My idiot uncle called Tuesday. He’d not bothered to check on us at all until now and it’s about the stupid door. It got broke when we got locked out one time (and I climbed over the wall and forced it open) and he’d promised to get it sorted last month.... but nothing happened. Which I told mum is what would happen. Apparently someone is coming Monday but I’m not gonna hold my breath on that.

I think things are ok with Milo but we’ll see.

Anyway I’m gonna watch Brooklyn 99 from last week and zz
