Run Boy Run

shadowhiveSo I managed to continue my The Umbrella Academy rewatch with episode two.
So this is an ep that hits the ground running. I love that they showed off the kids and that you could tell a lot about them just from the brief shot of them at breakfast. And then the sequence with five to Run Boy Run was amazing. It’s very telling that the first people he calls for are Vanya and Ben. I wonder what his relationship to Ben was like.
Anyway they were a lot of good points to this episode. Klaus being topless and his conversation with Ben ‘said with love’ was adorable. I love seeing Diego in his outfit, which is surely some kind of ridiculous modified bondage gear. (And how many knives does he have, I lost count.)
Vanya and Five was so sweet to. It was clear that they cared for each other but it was a lot to process for her. And ugh, I had creep vibes from Leonard the second he showed up).
I loved the whole sequence with Five and Klaus where Klaus got to show off his utter chaotic energy, much to Five’s apparent delight (though damnit Five you coulda at least left him with money). And I remember squeezing so much at Klaus’ admission of having a boyfriend.
As for Hazel and Cha Cha they did such a good job of showing how disaffected with his job Hazel was, with him eating and just going through the motions with his job. It was clear he was losing interest in it.
What else? I loved the framed cross stitch in Diego’s place which had to be from Grace. I loved Allison’s realisation that they treated Vanya badly which led to her determination to make things right (and her whole listen Luther thing when she tried to tell him what was wrong). And Luther and Diego’s Place, with Diego throwing a knife at him and then, for some reason eating a raw egg, like what?
And yeah, that’s all the main parts I can think of.

Date: 2019-03-11 10:32 am (UTC)I do enjoy Diego's relationship with his mom, but the egg makes my stomach churn. Just the thought of eating a raw egg, I know people do it to get a quick and easy protein hit, but it just looks so unappetising.
I do hope we see more Ben in the future. I love his relationship with Klaus, but it is interesting to think how that would extend to the others.

Yeah it really is so sweet, Ben is the best (and his actor makes the best tweets/instagram comments)

I'm following all the cast on Insta, and I agree about him making the best comments. The one he made about being between Robbie's legs made me laugh a lot. Also, of course he would be!
