You’ll be fine

shadowhiveSo yesterday wasn’t too exciting. I did the snowflake post, then watched two Enterprise eps. I spoke to one of my friend’s on twitter and accidentally unleashed Palaye Royale on them so I think I have given them a new fixation. Oops.
That led her to letting me though I’d not missed their tour with Enter Shikari, so I might end up going to that, which is February 1st. It depends on money mostly and if tickets sell out, since I’d have to get the ticket on the day.
Glamour of the kill have just announced a Birmingham tour so I may see about that too.
The rest of the day was a mix of ficcing (I finished the last of the fic prompts from day 10 of snowflake). I did a bit more on Assassins Creed Odyssey, besting the champions of Boeotia and Alexios’ idiot half brother. I ended up killing him because he was annoying as hell.
I ended up watching an ep of Lucifer last night too, then slept fairly early. It was mostly a lazy day.
There are now 5 prompts in the bandom challenge I did for snowflake day 12. Feel free to take a look and see if you can fill them and feel free to promote it! I might try and do at least one, but not until after I’ve done the Mikey/Ray one that I started last week.
After this post I’m gonna do the food shop, then read either the Xbox magazine or sci if now (depending on how dark it is) and I’m gonna work on that fic. I’m waiting on a package which just come in about an hour. I hope anyway. I’m also gonna try and doing the Resident Evil 2 demo tonight. I meant to last night but failed, oops. I might try and watch Black Lake too.

In general, I think fandom is gonna migrate here. The tumblr purge has done a lot of damage, but it’s the latest in a long line. I think more people will come here (or other sites) and tumblr itself will be greatly diminished. I hope that dreamwidth becomes more active, because I love this format. And, honestly, I have loved connecting with other people through this challenge.
In more general ones...
MCR: I suspect it will become more active due to it being 2019. I wouldn’t be surprised if the mcr site put something out, be it some sort of merch or funkos or something. I’d love Ray to put out more music or tour (same with Gerard).
Star Wars: This is gonna be a big year for Star Wars like I mentioned before. Star Wars Resistance is gonna restart soon, and the second half of the first season is gonna cover The Force Awakens, aka when everything kicks off. I wasn’t sure if it would get to that point yet and I just hope Kaz doesn’t break.
There’s also going to be new Clone Wars eps which will at least cover Mandalore with Ahsoka which is absolutely amazing. I can’t wait, and I wonder what else the other eps will cover.
Book wise there’s Master And Apprentice, the new Thrawn novel (I still need to read the others) and Queen’s Shadow which I’m super looking forward to. The age of comics have been cool so far, so it’ll be interesting to see where the others go.
The big thing, of course, is that Episode IX is coming and iM super looking forward to it. I have no idea how things will go there, but I’m hoping that Finn and Poe kiss and, like other stuff have said, it will include references to the prequels and comics too. It’ll be interesting (and sad) to see how they incorporate Leia. I know I’ll cry seeing her again.
Other fandoms: As mentioned in previous entries there’s a lot coming this year. The MCU has three films. The first live action Pokemon film is coming. Animal Crossing is coming to Switch. Star Trek Discovery starts in a few days. Shadowhunters returns soon too.
What I am most excited for, of the other fandoms, is Umbrella Academy. I am so hyped for the series to start, in just one month tomorrow (!!!!). I hope it leads to a proper fandom forming around it, with more comms, more fic, more people. That would be amazing.

I don't know of anything similar to it, aside from https://three-weeks-for-dw.dreamwidth.org which I've seen some people discussing reviving this year :)
I think the January works well because everyone has finished or is finishing all the big December deadlines and exchanges and gift things, and most of the challenges haven't yet begun, while people still have a bit more free time in real life too. You could start up something for mid-year but maybe make it shorter to keep it more interesting and manageable since that's a busier time of year :)

And I'd love to think there was new MCR merch released to tie in with the date. They'd be missing a trick if there isn't.

I'm hoping for good things with the release of The Umbrella Academy. I've not (and never will) read the comic so I'm looking forward to seeing it finally. As for my thoughts on this part of the snowflake challenge regarding MCR, there will never not be a time when I don't live in hope for a reunion farewell tour that was denied us. I realise it isn't likely, but stranger things have happened and this fangirl will always live in hope she'll get to see her band one/ten more time/s.

Me too! The comic is really good, it’s looking like the first series is gonna cover the first issues so I’m looking forward to it. (And my boy!) Same here! It sucked so much they never did a last tour, it made me so sad. We can live in hope!

Date: 2019-01-15 03:16 pm (UTC)As much as I'd like to see this become the case, I know it's not going to happen. And the main reason is that Dreamwidth is really biased toward text.
Not blaming Denise and Mark, who made DW the inclusive and safe space it is with all of their hard work. But images, video, sound - these are all a significant part of modern fandom, and they just don't have the time/energy/desire to tackle that particularly complex addition to the site.
DW has done some basic image hosting, a lot like LJ did, but anything more than that represents a significant investment in terms of time and money, so I just don't see it happening.
I used Tumblr, never considered it my community, and even I miss the ease of reblogging images/gif sets/etc.

I’ve always been more text than image based. But I did like how easy it was to just upload something to tumblr. Like many people I used to use photobucket and just... look at any old fandom posts, even if the pic is still on photobucket photobucket have made things awkward. I used to use tumblr to upload pics to it and then copy the links elsewhere... but with the stupid adult lock I can’t even access my own tumblr like I used to to get them. It’s so frustrating
