Can you believe it’s already February? As I said to mum yesterday: somehow January feels both to have past quickly and slowly at the same time.
But it’s also time for the January round up and on the first for once.
First off, yipee I managed to write some things! Around Christmas I set 5 fics that I said I’d do before moving onto other things so now I’ve done 4 of the 5 and there’s only one remaining, and that one I’ve worked on a bit this week. So it might be done soon. Then it’s onto… I’m not sure yet, there’s a few possibilities.
Also I actually finished a book! I’m pretty proud for that since I’ve really struggled book reading for a few years despite it being a goal on these things I’ve only managed short stories. But like I said in the thoughts on it, I thought this one was really good! And I’m excited to read the other Agatha Christie books (cause now, on mums insistence, I now have so many.)
Alas no games done this month, but it’s mostly because my focus is off and I’ve had events in the games I go on pulling focus. I didn’t read a comic either but I had hoped to read the new one I got, but I was unfocussed yesterday. Meanwhile podcasting has been a mix of Selene and Rusty Fears both of which are pretty good.
The kickstarted reward for cult of the lamb’s graphic novel came so I read that the other day and I thought it was really great! The art is really amazing and it has some honestly banger lines. It also gave me some feels too, which was unexpected. So if you love the game I do recommend (though it’s obvious it’s gonna have at least three more follow ups cause this covers Darkwood).
As to the watching stuff, I meant to watch The Rig more but being unfocussed and then side tracked with Stranger Things sidetracked me (more on that later) but at least I finally watched Tarot (thoughts a few posts back)
I didn’t watch any blu ray or dvd, despite having some to watch, primarily cause of my back. The Xbox that I play them on is low down so I couldn’t bend down to disc switch (and with the tree in the way I couldn’t disc switch before the biopsy like I should have). Hopefully this month though! I also meant to watch something on shudder but again, focus and stranger things.
Disney was finishing Skeleton Crew, which was really great too! I definitely loved it and hope there’s more. And YouTube was just a few random things (I need to watch the other new Seapeekay things) but yay a trailer for the season 7 collection! And that Badflower vid took an unexpected turn. (And yay James music!)
But of course the main thing is Stranger Things. I did intend to watch one ep a week and then in the last week I watched 5. Oops. But that means I’m able to start season 4 and find out what the deal is with Henry and finally meet Eddie. (I do know what happens to him in a vague sense and I dunno if going in with that knowledge is good or bad). But that’ll be next week!
I’m gonna put thoughts of Season 3 under the cut.
So I was right in my thought! It did end in a confrontation at the mall. I’d have known if id seen the titles (the last one is called the battle of starcourt after all) but I didn’t cause I was wary of synopsis spoilers.
A brief selection of bullet point thoughts:
*Steve’s outfit! I love it so much
*Speaking of outfits (or lack thereof) I love that Billy was shirtless at the start
*The Erica, Dustin , Steve and Robin grouping was so funny I love them (Erica is so funny!)
*I felt so bad for Will throughout, he feels underserved (why was the mindflayer not interested in going after him since he was the ‘one that got away’)
*Again Cary Elwes?? But he so deserved getting beat up
*Steve is so based when he finds out Robin likes girls, like he doesn’t criticise her for liking them just her taste😭
It was really hot that Billy was one of the main ‘threats’ but at the same time after the sauna test it kinda felt he got a little pushed back until the finale. I really am so sad he didn’t get much interaction with Steve (I’m so annoyed at that! I expected more considering how prevalent Harringrove is as a ship). And yeah, I expected him to die at the end which really sucks. However if you’re gonna die, death by tentacles monster is the way to go! (And I’d not put them past having him return at some point with his consciousness being in the mindflayer or it taking his form. Or, more simply, in a flashback)
That last ep got me in the feels though, especially that scene with Hopper’s letter. But even before that how Alexi died was so awful. He was so happy and then they just… killed him. Again, expected but still. But yeah damn that letter really got me somehow and the whole thing was so sad. Like I feel I got emotional damaged by that.
Also why the fuck didn’t the government have at least some sort of monitoring in Hawkins? How did they miss what the Russians did?
(And I’m sure I had other thoughts but I’m heading out soon so…)

I think it’s obvious that Hopper lived, though if it’s in the Upside Down (my theory) or with the Russians (I feel their American prisoner is someone else) I’m not sure. I feel that Henry is gonna be evil (I had those vibes even before seeing a pick of him with a blood spray, thanks insta!) though what kind I’m not sure. Vecna feels like the big bad from all the funko though. Obviously I’m prepared to fall in love with Eddie and get my heart broken again cause I know he dies at the end. And it feels obvious Eleven gets her powers back.
But I guess we’ll see!
Now we’re off to pick up mums meds then I might fic and watch Spree tonight and generally flop.

we really should have got SOME kind of billy/steve interaction considering their dynamic in s2??? it’s a weird choice not to have at least a one off line or something and I’m bitter about it 😭
I will say that vaguely, no spoilers, but max is a central character in s4 so billy as a subject is present
Won’t get into my will thoughts too much bc we will be here all day but the fact that his obvious connection to the mindflayer was downplayed so bad that all he did was feel the back of his neck once or twice and say “he’s nearby” makes me soooo upset and then in the last ep he’s like oh we’re moving and has an awkward goodbye with mike and that’s.. it??
robin’s coming out scene is one of my fav scenes in the show, like it warmed my heart SO much and i love her and steve with my whole soul. best duo i swear to god I love wlw and mlm solidarity sm 😭

Exactly! Like I knew it was a huge ship so I expected something in season 3 and the most they get is Steve hitting his car😭 it felt so wrong, I’m bitter too😭I’d have killed to see their reactions to each other, Steve in his outfit, Billy as a a lifeguard👀

Date: 2025-02-03 01:16 am (UTC)Will and Max get the most interesting character arcs next season, IMO. So you will see more of Will, and that's all I'm gonna say. (I'll also say I was even more compelled by how they handled Will's character when I went back to the beginning and watched it again.)
Gah, I keep forgetting about poor Alexi. He was a cuddly little traitor and I do miss him. That is a recurring criticism I've seen about this show: they keep introducing great new characters only to kill them off either the same season or one season later. It's not true across the board, but I get it. Honestly, it's impressive how many characters people absolutely adore.

He was! And to have him die just after he had a nice time and got that giant plushie was foul. Yeah that’s absolutely true! Alexi, Billy, Eddie, (the character Sean Austin played that I’m blanking the name on) it’s so sad.it does feel like a show where everyone can find someone to love (he says, loving so many of them)

I know!!! He was doing his best. I gotta be honest though, I hate Billy, and don't feel even a little be sorry for him. He's an abusive, racist asshole who happens to be pretty enough a lot of fans seem willing to overlook that, but I'm not. Actually, one of the reasons I was so relieved when we got Eddie is we finally had a Metalhead who wasn't like that. Because, that seems to be the trope in media: Metalhead = Scary, Mean, Bully. We're emphatically not like that.

He really was! 😭 yeah like in season 2 he was definitely a total asshole (although pretty hot) but it feels that season 3 sidetracked that (having him shirtless in the first ep, then have him being controlled in the rest)
Honestly Eddie just exudes puppy energy in the pics and gifs I’ve seen. Like he’s a metal head and he’s also a total sweet nerdy boy which is so good cause we need more of that!
