Challenge #2

So I’m never sure what to say for stuff like this so it’ll probably be a more random ramble.
Fandom is an odd beast to me cause usually I gravitate to either small ones that are non existent or ones that have super toxic fandoms I want nothing to do with (or I end up associating with awful people). Which is sad and really sucks but. Eh. Sometimes I have tried to reach out but between the bad experiences and neurodivergence I’ve pretty much much ended up closed off.
But anyway before I end up going down a hole better thoughts.
I dunno what my first fandom was exactly. Two of my main interests are video games and sci fi and I can trace the first one back to when I was a kid. I came home and there was a nes set up, so may first games were Super Mario and Duck Hunt, which I remember playing with my grandparents.
I remember when I thirst saw Star Wars, when it came out as special editions in 97 and I insisted that mum take me to see them all at the local cinema. (I remember coming out of Episode V humming the Imperial March.) Since then it’s become our thing and we’ve seen all the films together in the cinema. (In fact one of my enduring memories of my grandad is him yelling at the screen when we saw Episode I.) We saw each of the sequel trilogy at midnight showings at the local cinema (the same one we saw the original trilogy)
Star Wars is still a big love. I loved The Acolyte and I’m really enjoying Skeleton Crew too. Though there’s a few things I’ve still not finished (Bad Batch, Visions, Young Jedi Adventures and Tales Of The Empire which I’ll have to get back to sometime). Same with gaming, I really loved Outlaws (and need to do the dlc) and I still need to go back to the Cal Kestis games cause they were fun too.
Another love is Zelda, I remember playing on the nes ones at a friend’s house (before I knew what it was), but I came into it more properly from Ocarina. Again one of the clearest memories of my grandad comes from when I first played Twilight Princess and he was watching. (And that’s where Midna’s name comes from) I still need to finish the latest game Echoes Of Wisdom, but it’s so fun so far. My fav Zelda race is the Zora but I love the Goron’s, Korok’s and deku scrubs too.
Both Zelda and Star Wars are things I’ve loved enough to get tattoos of.
Doctor Who I got into when the series came backed I was fully sold by the second episode (The End Of The World is one of my fav eps I really need to rewatch if only to hear the traditional earth ballad). I came into the classic series later when a freiend at the time got me The Five Doctors and I feel in love with it again. My fav Doctors are probably the third doctor and the tenth (which yeah I’m sure most people say).
Writing wise my first fics were for the British boy band Blue (anyone remember them?) and from then things have been varied and at times sporadic. I wrote a lot for MCR before tiring of the fandom and had a major The Umbrella Academy stint when I saw the first season but that spark faded and didn’t came back when the second one started.
I’m not sure if there’s any other main fandoms to talk about, though I’m sure there’s something really obvious I’m missing.

Date: 2025-01-04 12:46 am (UTC)I admit to having Disney+ almost entirely for Star Wars, so I can relate to Watching All The Things. :)
The Third Doctor is indeed terrific, but none of them are awful IMO.
Thank you for participating!

Date: 2025-01-04 11:58 am (UTC)Oh nice! Yeah I use someone else’s and mostly it’s for Star Wras and a few other things (the other main thing recently was Agatha All Along)
He really is! Yeah, I dunno if you’ve had any of the collection boxsets they’ve done for the original series but they really help give appreciation of the doctors. Even the ones I didn’t like as much I appreciate more now
💜thanks for commenting!

Date: 2025-01-06 12:44 pm (UTC)Yeah I’d say those are my top three and the order generally shuffles around (it’s still such a shame so much of Two is lost)
