Questions from [personal profile] yarnofariadne

1. What do you do to take care of yourself when you're feeling low?

This is hard to answer because sometimes when I feel low there’s no way out of it. Either I zone out, or I will try and find a distraction but nothing feels like it’ll work (so I end up not doing anything), or I’m unable to focus.

If I do feel up to a distraction I’ll find something to do, but that varies. One of my go to’s is to open twitch and see if anyone is streaming, because I can just do that on the pad. Sometimes I don’t even fully wat hm I just listen. But of course that depends if anyone is live and if they’re doing anything worth watching.

One think that was a good distraction lately was watching Japanese films. As I’ve mentioned I’ve had a new boxset of J-Horror films so I’ve found watching them has helped, cause you need to fully focus (cause of reading subtitles) but of course you need to have the focus for that. Sometimes I’ll game to distract myself, though again that depends on focus (on switch that’s been fortnite, but I have more options on Xbox…. Though I’ve kinda failed at those).

Other times I’ll try and put an audio thing on, but I’m so behind on podcasts cause of finding the time which kinda sucks. Same with reading I’ve stuff I wanna read but I can’t seem to focus. Which sucks cause once I get going I can get absorbed by it, but it’s the starting that’s hard.

2. What's your favourite Zelda game and why?

Majora’s Mask! It’s the Zelda game I’ve replayed the most and I really need to go back to it again.

Why is it my fav? I think it’s because how alive the world is. There’s a three day cycle that you have to play through numerous times and in those three days everyone has a schedule, with things they do at certain times, which makes everything feel so dynamic. There’s also the masks and I love them so much. Some aren’t very useful, only used for a quest, whereas others (like the bunny hood) are so incredible useful!

And then there’s the transformation masks, that enable Link to turn into 3 different races (including zora!) and I love that eso much. There’s just something so special about Majora’s Mask (which you wouldn’t expect considering how so much is reused from Ocarina).

3. Are you studying anything currently, and if not, what would you like to study next?

I’m not studying anything at the moment. I fully intended to, but then when the thing on my back got worse my focus shifted to that. Uni usually starts in October so I’m glad I didn’t have that stress along with all the medical appointment stuff. So yeah uni has taken a major backseat for awhile. (I could start studies in January, but I’m not going to take it with still waiting for the other appointment)

As to what I’m going to do? I’m not sure. The Open University rotate and add courses every year or two, so I’m hoping when I do look they’ll be something interesting.

(The last thing I did, renewable energy was eh as was a geology one before that, which I can’t remember the name of)

4. What's the next movie you're excited to see?

In the cinema, there’s Moana 2 (even though I’ve not seen much in the way of trailers) and Sonic 3, which I’m super hyped for cause Shadow! More long term there’s the next Saw film and I’m sure there’s something else.

On Amazon prime there’s The Lazarus Effect I wanna check out soon and Tarot (which I got from an odeon thing). And on shudder there’s Uzumaki which I’ve wanted to see for years but not yet.

I have a few blu rays of things I wanna watch too but I’ve not got round to,

5. How did you meet your partners?

This is tough boney cause I’m bad at remembering how I meet people in general. (Like I’ve looked at the people I talk to most and can I remember how I first met them? Nope)

K do know it was on twitter though, around when I was active with MCR (before becoming more disillusioned with them) and that’s how we started talking but, again, specifics fail me. Which sucks a bit, but I know it’s cause of my dumb brain.

A more general post soon, proabably tacked on to thoughts of The Greatest Show In The Galaxy.

Ooh--questions, please! I haven't done one of these in ages.

2. Yessss, Majora's Mask is fascinating. I love the juxtaposition of the colorful, whimsical character designs with the MASSIVE seriously evil-looking Moon hanging overhead the whole time. It's cute but creepy. And I have to admit, I started looking at it differently when the "Ben Drowned" Creepy Pasta came out, and just added a whole other layer of creepy to the original story.

4. I have seen The Lazarus Effect, though I can't remember much about it. I think I liked it? Olivia Wilde's in it, I think. Uzumaki is a TRIP though. More random wipe edits than a Star Wars movie, and a soundtrack composed entirely on a Midi keyboard. I should watch it again, honestly.
