I had hoped to do a more positive post (or even just the June round up thing) but I’m just so annoyed.
So Friday night the internet started doing its usual flicking thing. It would lose connection at various points, usually just for a few minutes at most but it was persistent. I lost count after 5 times, but it was probably closer to 10.
It seemed fine Saturday morning and then we went out to town to see Indiana Jones (thoughts on that in another post maybe, but only spoiler free).
Then when I came back the net seemed fine…. Until later in the night when it happened again. This time each disconnection lasted longer and there was about close to 10 again. I had been watching at steam but it quickly became unwatchable and I ended up putting on a who audio I had downloaded before sleeping.
This morning again it seemed to be fine, but I made sure to post a message on the dnd discord just in case I lost connection.
Of course as soon as I did the connection went again only not for a few minutes. No, this time the net was down for over FOUR HOURS. It’s so frustrating especially because it made me miss the whole thing (I feel so bad about that) and I am just…. Ugh.
I’d been connecting talktalk back and forth since it first happened, but predictably they’re being no help. Apparently they have detected a fault, but refuse to book one unless we call up (which because it’s Sunday we can’t do until tomorrow) and it feels like we’re going nowhere. I don’t have optimism that calling will even help but I guess we’ll have to try.
It’s so irritating.
I wonder if today’s long disconnection was to do with a mysterious call mum had earlier, saying there might be a power cut in the area. The power didn’t go here but maybe it went at some local station necessary for the net? I dunno. If that was the case why didn’t they just say that?
It’s just so tiring and feels like a fitting end to a week that’s felt partially cursed.
Hopefully this coming week is better (or at least the net stays stable).
In the meantime I’m finishing off Star Trek Nemesis (because it’s on tv and I’d not watched in awhile) and then we’ll see.
