So in my earlier post I mentioned something that mum said yesterday that rattled me so here it is (under the cut cause anxiety)

So yesterday, after the food shop came and mum came back from her library shift (and the walk with Naryu that followed) mum went into the garden and suddenly yelled.

Now I ran out, not sure if she had a tumble or something, but instead she was pointing at Midna, saying her skin was hanging. This of course spooked Midna who ran through the house and, after the ensuing chase I looked her over. There was no sign of any hanging skin. I assume mum was looking at the longer fur on her tummy and mistook it for that.

And them mum was like ‘I’m not sure she’s got long left’.

Of course that upset me and rattled me and made me anxious

I looked online for causes of cat weight loss, which mum seems to think she has, but all of them have other symptoms which she does put have. She eats and drinks fine, she goes to the litter tray fine, she’s neither hyperactive or low energy (no more than a cat usually is). I used to have a friend who was a vet who I’d ask for info on this kinda stuff but, as I mentioned before, they turned into an anti vax nut and blocked me.

The thing is Midna has always been a pretty slim kitty anyway and to me she doesn’t feel any different, it’s not as if you can see and feel her ribs or anything and she seems perfectly happy and content. Indeed she seems happier than I’ve ever known her these past months with her becoming super affectionate and always wanting to curl up on our laps. (Which as my friend Chai pointed out, cats tend to do the opposite and hide away when somethings wrong)

And I just… I don’t get why mum would jump to the worst situation and then just blurt it out without thinking like that.

I made extra sure last night to give her lots of pets, giving her extra treats and being sure she was wrapped in the blankie before bed.

I know she’s ok, that she’s fine and sweet and loved but mums words got to me a lot, especially yesterday. I hope writing this will banish the last traces of them.

I’m not sure where Midna is now, probably curled up someplace.

Thanks, yeah it really did especially when she said it Tuesday cause it made me panic then drained me ugh🥺 Yeah when I saw the main things had all these symptoms she didn’t have it was reassuring but I wish I hadn’t needed to look😔😒

It does look like your mum looked at Midna wrong and saw something that wasn't there.

It's reassuring that she hasn't got any other symptoms so I hope you can put the worry out of your mind.

I hope so, I just hope my anxiety doesn’t just hyperfixate on it like it tends to do

Good grief. As someone whose fur baby IS getting older and slower and not long for this world, that is a really odd, upsetting conclusion to jump to. It sounds like Midna is perfectly fine, and I'm sorry your mom upset you for no reason. I wonder if it was an optical illusion and it freaked her out or something?

Yeah it really was, I dunno why she just leapt right to there because ugh… she knows I have anxiety so should have known better but no. And yeah it definitely feels like it was a trick of the light but she Seems perfectly happy

I feel so sad for you! That was so careless and wrong of your mum! *hugs you a lot* From your desciption and the photos you posted Midna seems to be perfectly fine!

Yeah! It made me panic so much it was so awful🥺

The thing is a few days later I saw Midna lay down and there is a tuft of fur on her tummy that, in the angle she was laying, looked like it could be something else, but it was just how long the fur was/how she was sitting.
