shadowhiveThe rest of yesterday ended up being a pretty lazy kinda day (though for some reason not restful). The Xbox uk stream ended up being half Resident Evil 4 (which I half watched, mostly because I wanted to avoid too much) and Not For Broadcast (though I ended up half watching that too, but every time I looked at the screen I had no idea what was happening).
During the first half I built up the Lego Easter rabbits, though it felt a bit unnecessary to have the parts spread across 7 bags for a set this size. The two bunnies are cute, though it’s odd there’s no real space on the stand for the eggs and flowers. For the second half I went on dreamlight valley and got most of the things from the star path (there’s just moonstones which I can live without, especially as one thing requires a lot of resources that seem hard to find).
I watched a few QSMP streams though it wasn’t quite as active as the intro stream. Foolish has predictably started a huge building project for himself. Quackity has been flirting with everyone (and ahh him and a foolish is so sweet though). And it seems some of the Spanish guys have started a cult? Though I’m not sure on the details.
It also seems there’s a lot more to the server than a standard one. There’s some Zelda like elements to it, including dungeons and little totems that are like statues in breath of the wild. Plus there’s paragliders. It makes me curious what else will be found. I hope a bunch of people get together to tackle a dungeon, fit and foolish tried but didn’t get far before wisely retreating.
I did manage to finish the last of the day of the daleks special features, which I’m glad about. One was a blue Peter clip that must’ve been made before the ep was confirmed as it had a clip from Daleks master plan which is the first I’ve ever seen (and, ironically, it included the guy the Brigadier played in it).
There was also a new Set It off song, which is heavier than Elsewhere’s stuff. I’m curious what the video will be like, so I’m wondering if one will be out soon.
Today we went to see the ducks for something different and instead saw grebe out in the water! It looked like there were two so maybe they’re a pair? It’d be interesting if they are, their mating dance looks so impressive but I’ve never seen it.
No Picard thoughts which is… a bit mixed.
Picard this time is a kind of mixed bag for several reasons, which is a shame because some good ideas.
The gang is finally altogether with Worf and Raffi joining the crew, only they don’t have long (other than to give a brief overview of the changelings) before they go on a Daystrom heist with Riker. (which feels odd because someone else should be with them. It also feels a missed opportunity to have Seven and Raffi on a team.)
The station itself feels like an odd situation. So you’ve had a massive break in at a classified starfleet base. So what do you do? You evacuate all the people and leave it abandoned. That makes no sense. Surely you’d either increase security or move the things in there somewhere else. It’s just odd. (Its also odd that people in starfleet were so focussed on the portal weapon being taken they didn’t think to check what else might have been as well) The facility as a whole has a creepy vibe which I liked though, but in some ways it feels like it could have lent into that more.
And then they find out that the manifest they’re looking for is actually Data (or rather some new data with bits of Soong and Lal and Lore). They manage to get him off and lose Riker (more on that later) and find what else was taken…. Picard’s body. Why was it even there instead of…. I dunno, buried somewhere? That seems more than a little odd.
The side with the Titan had some nice parts. I think my fav was Seven on the bridge with Jack showing the old ships, including the defiant (!) and Voyager (!!) and also The Bounty from the Trek films. Which leads to Jack getting an idea about the bounty is cloaking device, I do feel that there should have been a comment here because the Defiant had one as well. A simple line saying that the Romulans took the cloaking device back would have sufficed,

The reason for wanting the device is to avoid starfleet ships which apparently now all talk to each other wirelessly. So what do they do? Attach the device to the Titan…. Which would still be communicating wirelessly rendering it moot. Why not just use the bounty, it wouldn’t have been hooked up wirelessly (because it’s older and not starfleet) and then you wouldn’t have the issues of hooking it up. But it seems not to occur to them. In fact using any of the ships would have covered part of that.
There’s also the reunion with Geordi which felt a bit… odd and I can’t place why, though it now seems he’s part of the crew as is his other daughter.
Which brings me to the last two issues I have with this ep (well one is to do with the ep the other is the arc in general). Firstly Vadic mentions about finding Picard’s friends and associates, because of the preview pics I assumed it would mean she’d go straight to Geordi but instead…. She gets Troi. And yeah, that makes sense because that means she can be used not just to leverage Picard but also Riker but it also feels like a disservice to her. (And also why go after Picard’s old crew instead of any of the people he’s been involved with recently? Elnor? Soji? Laris? Those would seem prime candidates, but then again maybe she plans on going after them)
The second issue is with the arc as a whole because it means that changelings are after Picard specifically (going after his son, stealing his body) for some reason. Now this would make sense if they had some sort of issue re this season Picard never accounted the changelings on screen. If there had been a season of film with the TNG in the dominion war (other than Insurrection) then yeah I’d have bought it but as it is? It feels odd.
My energy is a bit off these past days which is annoying. I’m hoping to rest some this weekend but I get the feeling I won’t get as much rest as I’d like which is annoying.
Resident Evil 4 is out today so I’m gonna avoid spoilers (which is an odd thing since I’ve played the original 3 times on different systems). I have it good to go (thanks xbox rewards points for covering most of it) but I want to try and finish Resident Evil 2 first. I say as if I haven’t only done the intro section. I had hoped to go on it a few nights this week but because of my energy (or lack thereof) I didn’t.
In two weeks is Insomnia and I’m debating if I should go. I’m still waiting on the schedule, because they have a lot of Resident Evil people there (I think it’s 5 now) there’ll be a panel or two which I’d like to see, but we’ll see. It’s also Star Wars celebration that weekend so it also means if I go I’ll miss one stream (though I can catch up). Again I guess we’ll see.
