Only a smhortush post (we’ll see if it’s actually short) which I’m gonna do now quick.

So I watched the Nintendo direct on YouTube yesterday and… not too much sticks in my head now. There seemed to be a lot of farming games, Pokemon stadium is coming to the 64 thing and there’s new pikmin coming. It ended with a date for the new Zelda game, next May, though if it will stick to it? Who knows.

I had an email saying something from the open university was coming… Which is a surprise since most of the courses are now solely online and this seemed no different. I had ordered the new frozen planet thing but I don’t expect it to be that. The thing is though it’s marked as delivered, which makes me think it’s been left at the other house with the same number around the corner. Sigh.

This morning the new Doctor Who magazine came, which has a bit about the new special. I’ve not had chance to read it since Naryu had her jabs this morning. However there is a title at last: The Power Of The Doctor. It seems suitably vague so as not to give anything away.

Naryu’s jabs went ok and the vet said she’s doing good which is good. I popped into sainsburys (after mum spent ages in there just to get flowers) and I got my first Halloween thing: a nightmare before Christmas bag which is very pretty. I also got a Lego set, Dark Trooper attack, which was reduced (and I had a voucher to get extra points for getting a toy). The set itself is… ok. I like the features and the figures, but the lift could have been bigger (especially since one of the functions is to turn it so Luke appears…. But with his lightsaber it doesn’t work).

The trip there and back has made me pretty tired so I may just rest a bit. (And maybe read the Who magazine later)

Before I do though, I do kinda wish I still had my MCR excitement. It seems like every day there’s pics from a new MCR gig and every time Gerard is dressed as something different. Last night was a nurse, but previous times have featured a cheerleader and someone with bleeding eyes and a cat? And I know there’s more. I just wish I felt any excitement from them (And I wish the others got in on the outfit game) but it’s just kinda… absent.

On the OU stuff, most everything is online but there are occasional printed supplementary materials. For... I have no idea, reasons? I remember starting my OU degree back about six hundred million years ago, when every new module involved the postman hauling this massive box up the driveway filled with the materials I was gonna have to work through for the next nine months. Good times :DDDD

(I still have all those books actually. They've moved house with me twice).

I have MCR excitement on my list of things to post about this month. Like, I am mostly consumed by kpop at the moment (because, just, nonsense) but MCR always hold a special place in my heart and I do have feelings about some of the recent shows. But I also ducked all the toxicity that you ran foul of, so I suspect that's part of it.

Logisitically (and environmentally) I can see how the move to online materials makes sense - ignoring the number of people who get sent all of those books and then drop out, which is pretty high because of what the OU is, the student numbers on courses overall are just a little bit staggering. Because they don't need physical spaces to teach in (much) they don't have those limits on student enrolments that are dictated by the teaching area. I'm never entirely clear on why some stuff, randomly, still gets sent universally in paper form to be honest. But I do still prefer books to webpages :)

I was doing health and welfare, but I never finished my OU degree. Got a better offer!

I think it's almost impossible to get away from some aspects of toxicity anywhere these days; fandom, real life, whatever. Even I have noticed it, and you know I tend to lurk on the peripheries. I think the problem is that everything has gotten a little toxic over the last decade, and it's reached the point where it seeps through into day to day interactions. Throw in the dumpster fire that is the 2020s and... yeah. Low tolerance and low restraint is not a good combo :(

That's good about Naryu and I hope you got your parcel.

I've been enjoying the MCR and it seems I still have feelings for one MWay, go figure, even though I'm not at the giddy squee levels of before. But like above, I've also missed all the toxicity so it's easier for me to enjoy.

Maybe it would help to think of Ray dressed as a nurse?

That is indeed a VERY vague and also slightly omnious title!

So good to hear Naryu is doing well!

Yeah, I also wish I could feel excited about MCR but I just don't :-/
