Yesterday ended up being fairly productive. I ended up doing some uni stuff, finishing Picard (thoughts later). And started a game.

I can tell why they announced the 10 and Donna return so early: because filming is happening outside, so they’d be seen. In fact there already is pictures of them with the Tardis, so it’d be hard to hide they’re back. It also seems that Wilf is gonna be with them as well.

They also announced one of the ‘new’ characters. I saw ‘new’ because the characters name is Rose. Logically it shouldn’t be the same character (because this Rose is black among other things) but this is Doctor Who we’re talking about so it could be. I’ve already seen theories. That it IS Rose who has regenerated due to the time vortex energy she absorbed in season 1. That it ISN’T Rose and that it’s Donna’s daughter. Of course it could just be someone with the same name but… who knows.

Of course the big thing yesterday was MCR’s first show and then internet is abound with clips and pics (and it was apparently filmed too). I’ve not seen too much but I have to admit, it was good to see Ray with his hair down rocking out.

Yesterday night I started The Stanley Parable (super ultra deluxe edition). I got it solely based on seeing Foolish play some of it and I was curious. I spent under an hour on it and got two endings (there’s many) but I was sad there wasn’t one to do with the starry dome which was pretty. i might go back on it tonight or something cause I went tired (and there’s an achievement for not going on the game… for 10 years).

Since I was too tired to watch something or game I went to bed, but I couldn’t settle right away so instead listened to the latest Banter podcast with Foolish and Punz. It’s my first time listening to one and it was pretty funny, right from the introduction (of Sapnap calling them special… but stupid guests). Lickgate did get discussed but… Foolish denies it while Punz says it did (and there was witnesses). Will we ever know for sure. I dunno. It’s also funny cause they discussed how Quackity was meant to be with them and he flaked (cue him arriving days after the podcast, I think due to Karl kissing Foolish). But yeah it was fun. They seem to be doing the road trip they mentioned in it too, but I guess we’ll see.

This morning I managed to finish the uni assessment which was a relief. I had meant to hold it back a day and send it tomorrow, but honestly? I just wanna see the back of it and never think of it again. There’s a little bit of reading at the end of the course which I’ll start next week and then it’s over.

And then I’ll be able to relax, to finish the book I started a few weeks back and then start the new Lesser Known Monsters (which came out last week).

This afternoon I’ve done Lego Star Wars, mostly just a bunch of random stuff to unlock characters. I’ve still not done any of the levels in free play and I really should.

And now to end, some thoughts on Picard season 2.

So Picard season 2 has felt a little disjointed. After a strong first ep it went into an alternate timeline (basically the mirror universe on steroids) and then back into the past (closer to our present).

So of course I was curious how the series would end up turning out, even though it felt a bit all over the place at times, so since I saw the last two eps yesterday what did I think on it?

So the whole thing ended up being about Q wanting to free Picard from the guilt of his childhood but Q died. It’s… a nice thought but I couldn’t help but wonder if he couldn’t have done it in a more straightforward way. Was the whole time travel thing really necessary? Couldn’t he have helped Picard realise all this in the present? It seemed odd, especially since Q had seemed kinda… sinister in places this season, so for his reading to be altruistic seems odd.

Of corse the time travel did serve a purpose, to send Jurati back with a version of the Borg queen, so she becomes the Borg queen seen in the first ep. People had been theorising it was her (and questioning the queen’s tactics in the first ep) but I hadn’t been sure. Does it work? Maybe, but it leaves further questions, notably what’s on the other side of that trans warp corridor.

An important thing in the last ep, for me at least, is that Elnor is back and alive! Which I’m so glad about cause I’d been so pissed he’d died. But saying that what happened to the holo Elnor? Was he still with Jurati?

It was good to see Guinan again, as well as young Guinan (the actress that played her was great). And I’m sad Rios chose to stay in the past… though I could kinda see it coming with the doctor coming back after hee first appearance.

It was nice to hear Seven mention Janeway in the last ep, though sad because it was in the context she couldn’t join Starfleet due to her Borg nature. Hadn’t she proved herself enough with Voyager for Starfleet? Ugh.

I do hope we see more of her and Raffi, but it won’t be in Picard, since most of the cast aren’t coming back for season three. Which is kinda sad but I guess makes sense because the tnt cast are all back for it. (Im curious how that’s gonna work cause I’d heard Patrick didn’t want Picard to be tnt season 8 but…

I haven't caught up on Picard so will avoid your spoilers.

But, I have to say, Ray's hair is looking amazing right now.
