shadowhive: (2nd + 3rd A dandy and a clown)
There’s only about three weeks until the next open uni course and it feels like... I’ve not done anything all summer. My to watch list (on Netflix, amazon, shudder as well as the dvds/blu rays by the Xbox) has been mostly untouched. Fics in my tabs of doom haven’t been read and I’ve only finished one book (and started another). I’ve not finished sorting upstairs, nor have I listened to the Who audios I got off humble bundle. Nor have I done many of the games I was gonna do. And as I’ve mentioned before, writing has just.l. Gone.

It’s annoying but... I know it can’t be helped. The stress with the virus, coupled with the weather being too hot or too gloomy, plus depression being a bitch, hasn’t been a good combination for actually getting things done. It’s annoying.

So I’m gonna try and do a general weekly thing and see how that goes. I’m not gonna include things I do anyway (ie daily AC) or things I do specific days (ie Monday NCIS).
*Watch Fury From The Deep special features
*Go on Spiritfarer some more
*Start The Sims 4
*Try and go on Fallen Order
*Listen to at least one Magnus Archives
*Read some more of my book (Queen’s Peril) and some articles from magazines
*Watch one of the dvds/blu rays from the pile
*Write

Let’s see how it works out.

So last night I finished off Fury From The Deep, the latest second Doctor ep to be animated and it’s the last of three that have had releases this year. Fury is an episode that’s been completely lost, as it was only shown on tv in the uk once and then wiped, so unless you were there the first time you’ve not seen it. The blu ray has two options to watch the animation, black and white or colour, so I went for colour as I always do when the option is there (the last one, power of the daleks, didn’t have this option). It’s set at a facility pumping gas from under the North Sea, and it’s clear that the animators haven’t just recreated the shots from the episode but made the whole place feel bigger which I like.

Something else I liked is that it was Victoria‘s, one of the doctor’s companions, last episodes and it was seeded throughout and she was given a chance to shine. This is in contrast to The Faceless Ones earlier this year, which had Ben and Polly leave and they were both hardly in it and it felt sudden.

The enemy of the episode is a weed creature and, by the end, we don’t know much about it only that it likes gas, hates sound and has been around for (at least) hundreds of years due to a legend. So it’s not clear if it’s a natural thing or alien (though I’d go for the former). The designs of the possessed people at the end, covered with weed, looked pretty good I thought.

As a whole it was a pretty good ep. There was an asshole boss, but some good people. Though it was surprising that the sea fort, that’s visited in one of the special features, is only seen briefly in the last two parts.

Today has gone all warm again which is a bit blah. I’m gonna mess with the lawn mower in a bit, then watch the last My Life Is Murder from last night.
