Too much patience will get you nowhere
Sep. 10th, 2019 01:22 pmSeveral things before going into weekly Who rewatch post.
I didn’t read yesterday afternoon, I ended up dozing.
Still not heard back from PayPal and I suspect I won’t get an answer. I might send off another message but... eh.
The Who season 23 boxset seems to have been delayed for two weeks. There’s been no official word as to why which seems strange. Still it means I don’t need to worry about that.
I went on the Gears 5 multiplayer last night. A game of Escape went fairly well, though Horde ended up feeling tedious and I gave up at wave 30 which seemed to ramp up in difficulty. (The same can be said of Pokemon Masters, chapter 11 seems to have had a sudden irritating difficulty spike)
Last night ended with depression falling over. It’s still there but has lessened, though... ugh,
Anyway, Who now.
Last night was Full Circle, the first of the E-Space trilogy and the introduction to Adric. The tardis, trying to return to Gallifrey, gets thrown off course, ending up in e-space. Landing on a strange world they find people, a Starliner and a mysterious mist.
This is one of those Who episodes where things turn out to be a complete misdirect (namely the people are not descendants of those from the crashed Starliner, but evolved natives from the planet). The Starliner ‘crew’ are stuck in a loop of repairing the ship, even though it’s already good to go and their leaders (ironically called deciders) can’t actually decide on anything. It’s not clear what happened to th actual crew (it’s assumed they must’ve died long ago) but by the end the ship goes into space with the help of the Doctor.
Although the Marshmen are listed as ‘enemies’ I don’t think they are. They’re simply natives of the planet and don’t seem terribly hostile until later. Romana is dismissive of spiders that are hand sized, only for one of them to jump out at her and poison her. It just goes to show they aren’t ‘only spiders’.
I admit, I have a soft spot for Adric. He’s smart, yes, but he’s a sweet boy really. (Although he is listed as a member of ‘the elite’ it’s not exactly clear what that means, although his star does become a major thing in his last story...) Romana doesn’t seem to have too much to do, essentially babysitting kids until the aforementioned spider incident. The make up with her infected looked good though.
Next week is State Of Decay which I only remember as being space vampires which sounds accurate.
Now to wait on food shop delivery.
