The colour...

So it’s been a few days now since my last proper post so here’s what’s been going on.
I started the new Pokemon expansion, the Crown Tundra. I haven’t got too far into it yet but already it seems.... short. The extra map only has one town which is at least better than Isle Of Armor just having the Dojo but even so. I feel like I could easily finish the bulk of it if I spent enough few hours on it which feels like a shame. I do enjoy the Dynamax adventure though, cause I do like stuff where you have to rent Pokemon on other games. (Although it’s odd there seems to be no pokedex entries for the legendaries you get)
Saturday wasn’t too eventful. I watched Coco (since mum wanted a film on and it was Halloweeny) which is pretty good. I like how bright and colourful the afterlife is, though when I watch stuff like that I wonder what caused the Mexican culture to represent the afterlife like that (after all Gucamelee and Book of Life are also like that). Maybe I should look into that.
Strictly was pretty good, and Nicola is great! I’m so gonna vote for her and Bill when the voting goes live Saturday. (Hopefully this’ll lead to more same sex couples going forward.)
Over the weekend I tried to start Man Of Medan but... couldn’t get anywhere with it. At the opening you have to pick up a tile which has a fish symbol on it. You have to examine it using the right stick before you can move on and just... I can get it to turn around most of the way, enough to show the fish, but apparently that’s p not enough for the game to register it. I dunno what’s wrong with it but I tried a few times (even going back to it the next day) but got nowhere which is... sad and frustrating.
I went on Monster Prom which worked much better. I did one term and it was so funny, though I didn’t get to go with Liam to the prom which is sad. I might do another run at some point, maybe trying to go for Damien.
I decided to get one of the sims 4 expansions from the sims sale that there was on Xbox (cats and dogs) I thought about getting another but decided not to. Since I did I got it I decided to go back on it to do Batuu some more. The aspiration issue is still there, but I had a workaround by doing a resistance mission (although to do so lost all my first order progress, ugh) so I’m gonna do missions periodically. The problem is, of course, that the missions are pretty tedious (or they require you to switch areas with long loading screens) so it feels annoying. The best part are the space ones, but there’s an issue there with the text size. (And the first order district for some reason lacks amenities.) even so I’m determined to finish all three faction missions before doing more on the game, that way I’m done with it. It’s just such a shame really.
I’ve decided to do kinktober and got one fic posted already. I’m working on one of the abandoned fics for day 2 (omega Ray since there isn’t any) and we’ll see when I finish it. Maybe today or tomorrow. It’s also Kliego week now and I’ve just... not worked on anything for it. Which sucks, but maybe I can try and do a late thing.
Monday was mum’s call from Universal credit which seems to have gone ok. There wasn’t going to be money for almost a month but managed to get a loan of it sorted and done quick which is a relief.
There was also a reveal of Mandalorian stuff for Mando Monday’s and some looks cool some looks blah. There’s a new Black series Mandalorian which is annoying because it looks just like the one I got just under a month ago... and he comes with extra stuff, including the child and his hover pram ugh!
Yesterday there was an incident where mum was feeling for something... and then got a sewing needle through her finger. She’s got it bathed and wrapped up but it was still a bit of a shock. Hopefully it won’t get infected or anything.
Autumnwatch started yesterday and it was nice to see all the animals, especially the lil squirrel eating mushrooms. It’s odd that I knew it was coming but didn’t know it was on until the day.
Shudder has announced an event called Shudderfest which I may try and watch some of. It largely depends on the timings, which should go up soon (causa the time change it makes everything even odder to work out). Hopefully the exclusive film will be on at a watchable time cause I’m curious.
There’s been mail, a qwertee Lucky tee and preorder goodies from a book I’ve ordered (Lesser Known Monsters out in a few days! Queer horror yay!)
I still haven’t found Trick R Treat which is annoying. I almost got a dvd of it on eBay yesterday but it’s gone now damnit. It’ll be sad to have a Halloween without it.
The rest of the post is gonna be about recent spooky films and is under the cut.
First off is Tales of halloween, who was something I put on my amazon prime watch list (I’ve used spooky season as an excuse to watch things on it and Netflix as well as shudder). Tales is an anthology of stories all set in the same town. There’s 10 of them in total and they’re all fairly short, probably around 10 minutes and under. This means that the weaker ones don’t last too long but it also feels that better ones could have been a little longer. There’s also a DJ doing a voiceover which serves as narration but that feels underused.
My favourite ones are the Weak And Wicked (partly due to Booboo Stewart) and Trick (due to the shock reveal at the end). Friday the 31st and Bad Seed felt like the weakest to me.
On Sunday I watched a film that just got added to Netflix, The Possession of Hannah Grace. I was curious cause I recognised Stana Katic (from Castle) in the cast list, so decided to watch it. The film starts with an exorcism of a girl, who is possessed by a demon of some sort. This opening, while an effective showing of the demon, kinda takes away some of the rest of it.
You see most of the film follows an ex-cop who has started working at a morgue, doing the night shift. It’s during one of her first shifts that a Jane Doe body comes in and it’s the girl who was possessed at the start. Said ex-cop is an addict and when things first start happening some people assume it’s because of that (and the fact someone broke in and attacked her). If the exorcism hadn’t been shown at the start it could have been played that it might all be in her head for awhile, but since we’d already seen said possession we know it’s not.
But I digress. It actually turned out to be pretty good, despite that minor thought. (And the mention that the demon used the girls depression to get in.)
On Monday I decided to put on Willow Creek on shudder but... I just got bored with it after 15 minutes.
On Tuesdays I’ve been watching subtitled things for spooky season (because Maxx doesn’t stream then) but last night I didn’t feel like reading subs (and since Maxx isn’t streaming for two weeks I can watch something then). I knew Colour out of space was coming to prime today so checked and it was up at midnight so decided to watch it. It’s something that I’d been curious about since I saw the trailer but for some reason it’s tricky to get a hold of so I was glad to see it on the upcoming list this month. But anyway, what did I think?
It was pretty good. I liked the witchy daughter (though why she decided to use the necronomicon towards the end...) and the references to the other places in Lovecraft stories that got mentioned. I would say, though, not to watch if you like animals because there are some gruesome stuff with them. (Is it odd that I can watch anything with people and not get bothered but if it’s animals I do?)
I have to admit I did think of the Ring a few times, due to the well and the tv’s going weird. I’m not surprised there was a scene with a well towards the end. The cast seemed to do pretty good descending into madness, although I do wish Ward (the hydrologist) had more to do.
It was pretty good, but I’m glad I was able to watch for free as it’s something I don’t see myself watching again (even though the colour was pretty).

Date: 2020-11-01 04:02 pm (UTC)I'm loving Strictly and am looking forward to the results show tonight. I like how they're not making a big deal about Nicola being a same sex couple, which is just how it should be.
