I am the beacon, I am the forest fire

So a few days ago someone mentioned about the lj day’s and it made me nostalgic as it always does. I miss the lj day’s so much. Everywhere was active and there was just so much amazing content. It was a time where I felt connected with people.
And then it all kinda fell apart. People either left it or vanished into the ether. Now lj is a dead place and it’s sad. I miss the the friendships I made there and the people that just vanished. I hope that they’re doing ok, though I wish I could contact some again. It’s always sad seeing stuff that’s been deleted or lost forever. And yeah, thinking about that reminds me of the times before last year, before getting fucked over by people I thought were friends too.
After lj it feels like people scattered to the wind and nothing really replaced it. Some went to twitter or tumblr, some came here. I’m glad for dreamwidth, even though it’s not as active as lj was back in the day. Or maybe it’s just because I’m not in active fandoms here, I dunno.
The constant, though, seems to be ao3. It’s still an... odd place to me. People leave kudos, but hardly any leave comments. There’s no real sense of community there like back on lj (no places with prompts or recs or anything like that. Small fandoms there stay small while others end up with a flood of content). I’m trying to save some bookmarks on there. I’d not saved many, instead having them saved as bookmarks on Firefox when I had my laptop, so I’m trying to go through stuff like mcr and bookmark.
I was on Spotify the other day and ended up listening to Death Spells. I’d not really heard them before and there’s something... hypnotic about them. Motionless In White’s album came out yesterday too so I put it on Spotify too and it sounds better then I had expected it to be.
It seems like November is going to be busy. My love is planning a trip, to come visit around the time of comic con (just watch though, no one interesting will there). It’ll be nice to meet and show her around (not that Birmingham is terribly exciting but it’s the company that matters). It’ll be my first time leaving Naryu for more than a day trip so I hope she’ll be ok. The whole idea makes me excited/nervous.
The rest of November is destined to bankrupt me, between the new Star Wars novels, Fallen Order and Pokemon, I’ll be busy and distracted by everything.
E3 started today with the EA stream. Beforehand there was a bit of Battlefront into, with droideka coming and Felucia being added as a map. The EA stream today was unusual because, instead of doing an hour long conference they’re doing half hour segments for various games. This is good because it’s more focussed (and Star Wars being first meant there was no sitting through sport) but bad cause there was no info on indie games or battlefront footage.
However the Fallen Order footage was awesome. It shown off 15 minutes of gameplay on Kashyyyk which looks great. I love the new droid and Saw appearing! Which dates it as being sometime before Rogue One. The purge troopers look pretty cool too. I have to admit it’s made me more excited about it,
Tomorrow is the Xbox stream and Bethesda, with Ubisoft Monday and Nintendo Tuesday.
I did a bit of writing last night, starting my other seasonofkink fic idea. It’s Ray centric and I’m gonna try and do some more to it soon hopefully. It seems the first thing I’m gonna clear on the card is a vertical line on the left hand side.
Speaking of fic I really need to get back on the serial killer one. I’ve not even looked at it in ages and I really want to do it sometime. Maybe after the exam.
Tonight I might put on Good Omens some before Killing Eve and then may do some sort of gaming,
June something
8: What is a fandom that you never thought you'd get into, but did? Bonus: How did you end up getting into it?
I never thought I’d get into the Arrowverse stuff. DC stuff never really interested me, but The Flash came on tv and I decided to check it out. To quote night vale, I fell in love instantly with Cisco. He’s just so cute and geeky and pretty, he’s awesome.
Since then I watched Supergirl and Legends of tommorrow and I enjoy them too. The only one I didn’t get into is, ironically, Arrow. Maybe it’s because it’s grimmer, or maybe it’s because it was on one day a week (compared with the others 5). I dunno.
