So last night I ended up watching Spiderverse and it was pretty good. Especially once all the Spiders got together (is there a collective name for them? I almost said Spidermen but two aren’t Male and one is a pig so...). It was pretty fun, but I dunno. I think it was so hyped up that it couldn’t live up to it? I dunno. I’d have liked to see more of the other Spiders too.

I didn’t finish writing the Waycest part of the Mikey fic because I couldn’t focus but I did get a few paragraphs done so should get it done soon.

This morning I finished my last uni assessment and got it sent off, thank fuck! I’m gonna take a few days off, to read through kliego week fics and such, then try and revise.

We were going to take Naryu out, but mum was reading her book for ages so I ended up taking my black series Star Wars figures down to reorganise them. I’m gonna put the rest up tomorrow when mum’s at the library.

There’s been new Star Wars pictures put up for the new film from Vanity Fair. There’s some hints as to what’s gonna happen from them (knights of Ren make an appearance and it’s confirmed they’re in the trailer) and there’s pics of Richard E Grant in costume too. And Poe and Lando in the falcon!

Today I went to see Detective Pikachu, for real this time. I walked to Cannock and had a wander round town though there’s not much there. I got a few things anyway, including some little Star Wars things and mimosa growing kits. After the film I got Mortal Engines from Asda to watch this weekend.

Thoughts on Detective Pikachu under the cut. But beforehand, the cinema doesn’t usually show trailers... but for this isn’t shown three, the first was Aladdin and made me panic I’d been sent to the wrong screen.

First off, I want a Pokemon. Specifically (from the film anyway) bulbasaur.

When they announced they were gonna do a live action Pokemon film I was, admittedly, skeptical. But then I saw the trailer and was just so amazed by how they looked. So I knew going in would look amazing and it really did. There’s so many little details, background Pokemon, signs, posters, Pokemon on tv.

It was pretty great, especially once it got going. It took awhile for Pikachu to show up, but once he did that’s where it felt like it really got going. There were so many great scenes in it so I’m not sure what my favourite was. Though I had to admit I saw Bill Nighy being bad coming... it seems to happen a lot with him. And Rita Ora was the doctor? I knew I recognised her from somewhere and it bugged me that I couldn’t place it till the end credits.

Apparently there’s gonna be a sequel? I’m not sure how it’ll bog with Pikachu not talking anymore, but I’d love to see more live action Pokemon stuff.

I do wanna go on the Detective Pikachu game again now. I’ll have to find it.

I think it was so hyped up that it couldn’t live up to it?

I think that's almost always the case. If someone gushes about something being the best thing ever, I generally find myself disappointed. Meanwhile, I loved Into the Spiderverse, but I went into it with no expectations other than it was a movie about Spiderman that some people seemed to like. I wasn't even 100% sure I was going to see it. I just decided to go to the movies one day and sort of waffled on which one to see and Spiderverse just happened to have the most convenient start time for me so that's the one I saw.

I suspect Into the Spiderverse is one of those films that work better on a huge theatre screen. I enjoyed it a lot, but the visual stuff had me dizzy at times.

I thought the actual plot of Detective Pikachu was thin, but I loved the world at large and seeing all the pokemon living alongside the humans.

I'm not sure about a sequel either, it was the talking that made Pikachu so engaging.

I just wanted to pop in and say that this is one of the most excellent subject lines. Congrats on your last assessment!
