Prompt 4: The Furies
The Furies, also known as the Erinyes, are a trio of vengeance deities whose immortal task is to hear complaints of insolence from mortals—and to punish those crimes by hounding the culprits relentlessly. They are said to focus on punishment for lying, killing, or sinning against the gods, but any lawbreaking was indeed punishable by them.

“Alecto was the oldest, unceasing in anger. Megaera was next, retaliator of jealousy, and Tisiphone, the last, regarded as the avenger of murder.”
― Elisabeth Naughton, Stolen Fury

Maybe you are inspired by Alecto (“the implacable one”, incites war), or perhaps Megaera (“the envious one”, vengeance) speaks to you, or maybe even Tisiphone (“avenger of murder”, guards the gates to Tartarus) – however you want to interpret the prompt, we’d love to hear from you!

It took awhile again to reply to this one. There are a few people I’d want to get vengeance on, but I could count them on one hand ones that I’ve known directly and have caused lasting pain. If I had access to a way to take vengeance out on them? Possibly.

Vengeance in fandom makes me think of the vengeance demons in Buffy, specifically Anya and her first appearance which led to a whole alternate universe. (And then she returned as a main character later)

And there’s Revenge Of The Sith, which is one of my fav Star Wars films (despite that it could use some deleted stuff reinserted). It’s one of the few films that’s made teary when I saw it. Still does sometimes

The past few days have been so draining and I can’t place why. Is it depression or just the weather? Or is it meds? Either way it’s annoying.

It seems free comic book day is still on next month so I’m making plans to go. It’ll be my first time in the city in over a year, so I’m even more anxious about going than usual. Plan is to hit up both forbidden planets, the Lego store and Disney store. And to hopefully get some Lego and TUA funkos if they're there. And maybe some MTG DND boosters.

That is unless we end up in another lockdown which… wouldn’t be surprising.

I finished Lego Jurassic World’s Jurassic Park 2’s levels the other day, so yesterday started on 3’s. Partly because it’s fun but also because it’s good to get an achievement for the daily reward.

I got to the last boss on Sonic Generations but damn the Egg Dragoon is so damn hard and annoying.

Yesterday was Ray’s birthday and I’m gonna try and do a fic for it, because he needs more love and d.

Maneskin released a new video yesterday and, while I had to watch it on mute cause of the timing it was very… Unf Ethan is so hot and he kissed Damiano again. (Though im not a fan of Dam’s hair)

Today has already been tiring cause of being up and walking the pup early. We saw the geese and there’s something with babies. They were too far out to make out what (a duck maybe?) and the babies were close to the mum, but I think there was four, maybe 5.

The switch version of Skyward Sword arrived today and the box it came in is a pretty Mario one, though it was so big for what was in it. The key ring came in a nice little pouch though. I was hoping to go on it on the tv, but alas it seems the switch dock is fucked. It must have happened when I fell while sorting the curtains (knock the tv and Xbox and dock over) and it’s just… ugh. Worse I can’t seem to find a replacement, not that I can order one until next week anyway.

So I’ve had the switch on my lap and the joy cons in hand. It’s a bit annoying cause the screen needs to be close to read stuff, and the motion controls are wearing out my arms a bit. I’ve done stuff on Skyloft, taking a break after Zelda vanishing. I forgot how many cute guys there were. And the music is 🖤.

I might go on more after lunch but we’ll see.

I’m hoping to watch Fear Street tonight (please body don’t get tired) and I might read some later if I don’t go on Zelda more.

So I’ve decided to do both of these prompts together.

Prompt 2: Eos
The dawn goddess Eos was almost always described with rosy fingers or rosy forearms as she opened the gates of heaven for the Sun to rise. Eos had a team of divine horses to pull her chariot, providing daylight as they climbed the arc of heaven scattering sparks of fire across the sky (she was also sometimes depicted aloft by the power of her own wings). Eos is known for having had many lovers, which has led to Eos being known by some as a goddess of joy and pleasure in addition to being the goddess of the dawn.

Bonus Prompt: Bull of Minos

So as I mentioned in a post when this first came up my first two thoughts were Sunshine and Elder Scrolls.

Sunshine is a film that I’ve not seen in sometime, and really need to. It’s a sci-fi film, about a ship being sent to the sun with a nuclear device to ‘kick start it again’. (I’m not sure exactly what happened off the top of my head.) it starts Cillian Murphy and Michelle Yeoh and I really should watch it again sometime.

In Elder Scrolls Azura, one of the Daedric Princes, is the prince of Dusk and Dawn and is one of the few Daedra that could be considered good. Unrelated to her in Elder Scrolls Dawnguard the vampires in it are sue arching for a magical bow which will end the ‘tyranny of the sun’ which I always thought was such a great line.

This isn’t a fic that’s to do with the sun, but it’s set in a warm place and it’s based on one of my favourite films, Mamma Mia, so here is Why Did It Have To Be Me? which is basically Mamma Mia but with the Umbrella Academy boys. (dreamwidth link here) I consider it my favourite fic because it’s just so… different and it just flowed out.

The bull of Minos just makes me think of the bull in Hades, and of course the Minotaur in Elder Scrolls.

Prompt 3: Hecate
Otherworldly and mysterious, Hecate is best known for her association with magic, ghosts, and the night. If you hear the baying of hounds in the dark, she's likely near as they were ever at her side. She is traditionally depicted as bearing two torches to light her way or as a triple goddess of the crossroads. In mythology she is known for helping Demeter search for her daughter Persephone, a theme that ties her even more to the Underworld and spirits she is associated with. Today she is often considered a representative of those liminal places where reality bends and all manner of events may unfold...

Bonus Prompt: Sphinx of Thebes

Ghosts naturally makes me think of Klaus from The Umbrella Academy and his ability to channel ghosts, most notably Ben in the last episode of season 1 which is still so awesome.

Also speaking of ghosts I’ve kinda sensed them before, but I definitely saw one years ago. I was walking home and saw a kid walking in front of me. It turned to go down a driveway, but when I glanced down it there was no sign of him…. And the gate was chained up. It was so strange.

Magic makes me think most recently of the Loki series and how awesome it is to see him use magic. No spoilers here but the last ep was awesome and I love alligator Loki.

Ironically I watched a film last week with a Sphinx, Riddles Of The Sphinx, which was on horror channel one afternoon. It was ok, but nothing specially. There was a bit of strange world building which made me wonder if it was part of a series but I can’t seem to find out it that’s true. Plus it was a lot of zooming about.

Not specific to the prompt, but it fits with the challenge theme. Has anyone played Immortals Fenyx Rising? It’s based on Greek myths and it’s pretty good, though I’ve not been on it in awhile. It was fun playing on it doing Athena’s questline, which was what I did first. I need to get back on to do Ares’. Also, Hermes is so cute in it.

I won’t get into it here, maybe in a locked post, but depression has been such a bitch lately, especially last night where it felt like it was kicking my ass so many which I hated.

I have ordered the build a bear Loth cat though, cause I had a free delivery code.

Dead by daylight has got a sale on dlc this weekend and I might get some. Alas Resident Evil isn’t included (but then it did just come out) but there’s the Silent Hill and All Kill dlcs in the sale which I’ll likely get cause the killers are hot (Pyramid head and the trickster).

This morning I had a delivery of the Doctor Who stuff I ordered, which was a load of graphic novels. I’m gonna try and read graphic novels a lot more, I have so many around that I have to get through. I’m setting a goal of reading one a day to get through them.

Tonight I’m gonna finish the Who special features on Paradise Towers, game some and maybe watch some stuff. I wanna watch Bad Batch and maybe Resident Evil Degeneration or Fear Street.

Plus I’m gonna do my nails since I found my pretty blue nail polish.

Prompt 1: Hades
Hades is the god of the dead and the king of the Underworld with which his name became synonymous. Despite modern connotations of death as evil, Hades was actually more altruistically inclined in mythology; his role was often maintaining relative balance between the realms. He was often depicted as cold and stern in his judgement, and he held all of his subjects equally accountable to his laws. Above all else, Hades ensured the finality of death and that none of his subjects ever left the Underworld.

So when I first saw this I wasn’t sure exactly what to do, especially since I’d covered death a bit recently both in June something and a locked posted a few days back.

But then I saw someone mention Hades the game and figured that would be a good thing to cover.

I got Hades on the switch after seeing people hype it up (and catching it in a sale) and in some ways it’s not a game I’d usually get. Games where you go through and then have to start all over again when you die are usually so frustrating to me, but there’s just something about Hades. For one it has a lot of personality to it and everyone that you meet. For two no two runs are ever the same, because you never know what boons you’ll end up getting. And for three, yes, everyone is hot (which leads to there being a lot of horny art which I’m so glad about). Plus, you can pet the dog!

I’ve never actually completed a run yet. I’ve got to the final boss, Hades, twice but he’s beat me each time which is frustrating. And I’ve also only recently encountered Thanatos who I know you can romance. (I wish they’d let you romance Hypnos as well).

The game’s art style is so pretty too, especially the character portraits and the variety of weapons and boon are everything make, as I’ve said, every run different. Often when I play, even though I die, I find myself wanting to go back again.

It’s coming to game pass on Xbox next month and I’m looking forward to doing it all over again on that and hope the achievements aren’t too hard.

People that have played it, what’s your fav weapon and stuff?

Another game that I like on game pass is called Monster Train which is a similar in some ways (it’s set in the underworld, you have to start all over again if you die) though its set on a train and it’s card based. I’m not sure how to describe it but it’s fun and I’ve managed to beat it once (but it’s very tough and easy to die)

And another game on game pass that represents death is Dead By Daylight, which I went on yesterday cause it’s the fifth anniversary of the game and there’s some stuff for logging in. I’m not too great on it, in fact I have no idea what I’m doing and every time I died. But hey, at least the first two deaths were pyramid head and nemesis. Has anyone been on it and got tips?

***

The past few days I’ve felt a bit woozy which has been so annoying. I hate how bleh I’ve felt. It’s meant I’ve had no focus to read or watch anything in the afternoons which is annoying cause I really want to get into Into The Dark.

Build a bear have posted two new Star Wars plushies, a Loth Cat And a Jawa both are so cute! I really want to get the Loth Cat especially.

I’ve ordered a funko to try and do as a Bert cause someone on twitter suggest I try though I have no idea what I’m doing. I’m sure I’ll mess it up when I try.

Pokemon made yesterday Bidoof day and no one had any idea why. Everyone was very puzzled but they put a lot of effort into it, including merch and stuff. And then on the day they posted a video…. And it was a Rick roll vid only with Bidoof, which must’ve took a lot of effort to make but it’s still… very strange.

I watched some of the Who special features last night for Time And The Rani. I wish the making of was more about… the making of. It felt like half of it was to do with the troubles of getting season 24 started rather than the ep itself. It didn’t help that the narrator sounded annoying. I wish there’d been more with Kate O’Mara. The behind the sofa was more entertaining though

There’s also a new Who animation been done, for Evil Of The Daleks which sounds like it’ll be great.

I need to do a run of the animated Resident Evil films before the new series starts next week. Leon!

Being woozy has meant I’m definitely not going to the meet tomorrow, not that I was thinking of going anyway but it’s like a final sign not to.
